Take him if you can because he gives a bunch of extra credit assignments and he is always throwing out extra points. He is easy and fair! Tests are all mupltiple choice and ALL of his tests including his final is open notebook!!Great Math Teacher!!
great teacher, really knows his stuff, really fun
He is a very smart man and knows what he is talking about, but he doesn't know how to teach it. Lots of us didn't understand a word he was saying half the class.
a very nice man, has a good heart, and will not let anyone do bad unless they want too. Not that great of a teacher in terms of keeping everyones interest. But, overall a great guy, and will help you if you put in the time
all tests multiple choice. gives extra credit. horrible horrible at teaching though, sometimes doesn't even know what he is doing, but expects you to follow him through it (much easier said than done). not a very good teacher, but nice man.
WORST teacher I've ever had - I'm not a math person, but he didn't even know how to multiply 6X6 one day in class!! He would stand at the board staring at it and not have a clue what he was doing - if he doesn't know, then how are we?? DO NOT TAKE!!!!
hahahahaAHAHAHAHA. what a joke. If you want an easy A take this guy. Take home tests all the time, can use notes during exams (mid term and final as well) While he may be unclear all you have to do is find someone who can help you a little hen use notes during tests.
Very nice guy, very helpful, gives extra credit, grades on curve if needed to make sure no one fails, notes can be used on tests. i (and the rest of the class i think) was not doing so well and i ended up with an A-. He will do his best to make sure no one fails the course. I recommend taking this course over the summer. Much less homework.
Goss is a great guy. He genuinely wants students to do well. Sometimes notes are sloppy, but he is always willing to re-explain. Doing the "optional" homework is easy and it totally helps. Tests are very fair!! I would def. take him again. He is a very good guy and his students appreciate it.
He is horrible. He cannot explain anything and when you ask questions he makes you feel stupid. His tests are hard.
He is not an easy teacher, but if you try he will not fail you. He gives extra credit if people are having trouble. He is very nice and is always willing to help. I recommend him, especially for summer courses.

Seriously this guy cant explain math for his life. Ive been having so much trouble and i defintily recommend you switch out ASAP if you are having the slightest trouble with math.

He moved along way too fast!
Math is not an easy subject for me, but he is always willing to help. Such a good guy, and is very understanding. He will go out of his way to make sure you pass, and if you show the effort he will give you a break. I would recommend taking him for 101 or 102.
What a horrible semester I had with this teacher. I have always been a great student in math; however, in his class math became very unclear. I strongly urge, not to take this teacher. You'll be SORRY!!!!!
Absolute worst teacher i have had at SHU...he moves too fast, he confuses himself, and he CAN'T teach..he simply doesn't know how..he assumes we already knew the stuff hes supposed to teach..regardless, taking him would be ur biggest mistake and your worst semester becuase these math classes aren't hard..and he just ruins everythingg
seriously not that bad. He gives so much extra credit that i ended up getting an A- in the class when i only got Cs on the midterm and final. my test grades were B's and C's but i did so much extra credit i ended up with an A. weird? yeah just do the extra credit and you will be fine__he does confuse himself a bit, but he's fair
this is the worst teacher I have ever had in my career as a student. He is a teller not a teacher, he writes some formula on the board one time, doesnt show any examples or go over it. If you have a question he answers it with a question and I dont even think he knows anything about Stats, do yourself a favor and dont take him!
one of the worst professors ive ever had. he writes formulas on the board and doesnt explain them, just expects you to know them. he gets confused when people ask questions and then doesnt answer them. the tests are SO hard and he hands them back in order of the worst grade to the best grade. DONT TAKE HIM!
I had him for business stats and he was very hard to understand and not too helpful. Definatly try not to take him if you want to pass stats
He writes random solutions without explanation on the board and expects his students to understand them. Not only does he confuse the class, but he confuses himself throughout the entire class where he completely stops class to think of what he's doing. He may offer extra credit but only for the first couple of classes, then he just stops.
Rude, dosent help or listen and gives tests that are hard in a way that is unfair
he may seem hard, but he does problems from different angles to help you find a way thats good for you to understand. if you need help he'll work with you until you get it. great guy
Very helpful and really wants his students to do well. He does things in his own way, however if you are confused he will gladly go over anything you need. I enjoyed taking his class
This dude has no clue what he is teaching at all, he forgets what he is saying mid sentence. Does not know statistics at all. DO NOT TAKE if you are interested in learning something.
he's awful, stay away!
he is a horrible professor.VERY CONFUSINGGG! i learned more from the JLC then i did from taking his class. nothing ever makes sense and mostly all of the hw's are graded and everybody does bad on them.good thing, so much extra credit and you can always re-do test questions that you got wrong and get half credit fo them.take at your own risk
HE IS THE GREATEST PROFESSOR OF ALL TIME! VERY CLEAR AND COMPREHENSIBLE.. NEVER FORGETS HIS TRAIN OF THOUGHT! TAKE HIM! APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!!!
Although the material was somewhat different than usual, I found this class to be pretty easy. Tests were open-note. He is very helpful. Sometimes funny.
Always forgets what hes talking about and take the long way to find every answer. He gives a lot of extra credit but I learned very little and was alway frustrated. I wouldnt recommend
He is a sweet older guy..but he takes the long route to every problem and confuses everyone. He often makes mistakes while teaching and we are constantly correcting him. His tests aren't THAT bad but most of my class is doing really bad...he gives a lot of extra credit and is a total pushover. Doesn't always help if you're failing the tests, though
Has no idea how to teach but is the nicest man. Gives a ridiculous amount of extra credit because he knows he cant teach. If math isnt essential to your major take him just for the grade but don't expect to learn anything
two words.....run away.
he is a nice guy but doesnt know how to teach. he is very confusing and always takes the long way to solve a problem he is also very unhelpful in both math and advising. if you have him and need to learn the math for your major dont take him his test are pretty sinple but he grades them fairly and gives extra credit so you can pass
He is a really nice guy, basically it is impossible to fail this class b.c he gives bonuses like its his job. You kinda teach yourself the work, but he doesn't give homework, he assigns problems to help understand what we did during the class& will answer any questions on the problems. Dont learn much but i have an A.
I play games all class, and i learn just as much on my ipod as i do actually listening to him. He is a nice guy, but has absolutely NO idea what he's talking about. OH and he couldn't advise himself out of a paper bag...
He was a nice guy, he tries to help you a lot with whatever he can to help you pass, as a precalc teacher he kinda would go on rants and you either followed along and understood or didn't. his tests are pretty straight forward. what you do in class you do on the test. he got a lot of tests questions from hw. and offered a lot of extra credit.
He is very confusing but super nice. You will only pass if you make sure you go to him for extra help, make sure all your grades are accounted for and persistently ask for extra credit. His tests are hard.
Terrible teacher couldnt even finish problems in class do not take him. hes a nice guy but awful teacher.
He is a good guy however he can not really teach. Although he can not teach he understands and wants you to pass so he gives a lot of extra credit.
He sucks because he doesnt know anything about math.
A very nice guy, except I did not learn everything. There is no way to not pass his class and all you have to do is do mymathlab and all of the Extra Credit!
He is a very nice guy and a good advisor. You need to really try to do the homework in order to succeed. He will go through the material, but it is up to you to make sure you know it.
He's terrible. He makes no sense and He has no clue what is going on.
really nice guy and is willing to help anyone, but doesnt know how to convey what he wants to teach. gives a lot of extra credit, and tests are multiple choice. dont purchase the SHU book, you wont need it b/c he liked to take examples from other texts. consider getting a tutor, otherwise you wont do well
really nice guy but not a good teacher. this class was hard but still got an A. he gives out extra points to help boost your grade. he basically teaches himself at the board. he cant hear very well. he often does problems wrong but doesnt realize til the very end so you copied him for nothing.
Horrible! Do NOT take him! Let's just say from a class of 30, there was only about 12 of us who did not drop the course. STAY AWAY!
Nice guy but such a bad explainer, I literally have no clue what he talks about. If you do not have prior knowledge of the topic he is teaching, it is almost impossible to understand.
Prof Goss basically makes it easy for one to pass. No, many will not come out with A's mainly because of the midterm which is very difficult. However, he wants to see everyone pass and gives alot of extra credit. My advice is to do every extra assignment he gives you. He drops the lowest test grade!! i finished with an A at midterm i had an F
all I have to say is this, please keep your precalculus high school notes, they will help you tremendously when you have no idea what he's talking about
keep your precalculus high school notes, they will help you tremendously when you have no idea what he's talking about
Worst Professor I have every had. Very hard and confusing to follow.
Such a nice guy but a terrible terrible teacher. I was so lost the whole semester but he somehow makes it so you can pass. He dropped so many of my classes test grades and quiz grades. Def keep notes from high school, it will help!
Not good at teaching students math. Makes it confusing and he messes up while teaching.
Easiest class this semester, everyone doesnt realize the amount of chances he gives everyone. No its not a clear class to learn, but at the moment he is adding up 20 quizzes and counting them as ONE test grade for us; and people complain. He wants to see everyone pass, easy teacher.
He talks about how he used to give so much extra credit and now is not giving any. All of my class is failing and I have an academic warning because of him. Gives no quizzes and you only have three test throughout the semester. Horrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU WILL FAIL!
Do yourself a favor and don't take him. Its not worth it taking a relatively easy course with such a terrible professor. Plus he's stopped giving out extra credit, which is pretty much your only hope of passing if you don't do well on the tests. He's nice don't get me wrong but he shouldn't be teaching.
Great guy but the worst teacher to have for a math course. He can't hear very good and usually messes up on problems he does on the board. It's almost like he is still teaching himself the math. Tests are very hard most of the questions on them aren't even close to what he went over before the test. Don't take him Chances are you will ruin your GPA
Great guy, but I had to withdraw. Almost no grades. The class average for the first test was a 16, and he just moved on. He doesn't believe in partial credit, and his extra credit is confusing and drawn throughout the semester. I also paid $100 to rent a textbook that is never touched. I LOVED math in high school, but this made me hate it.
Very unclear.
Okay- don't freak out. I went on RMP after the deadline to withdrawal expired and I freaked out. Don't. Sit next to someone smart. Also he gives out so much it can raise your grade 2 grade levels. Do all the extra credit and you will pass!
Legit the worst teacher I've ever had in my life. No partial credit on test any tests or quizzes so if you make a minor mistake you get the whole question wrong. Avoid this man at all costs!
He is not clear, and teaches the wrong material. I have been learning everything from that class from the help of a CLA at the JLC.
I can't learn anything from him, he's a great man and I really f*cks with him personality wise.. but when it comes to teaching he kinda sucks. He can't hear questions, and he simply doesn't explain material well!!! Tests are torture.
I can understand why some students did not like him and I was nervous to take his class. He is actually a very good professor, gives test review w/ the same questions, different numbers and he offers so much extra credit, it can bump your grade up a letter. Extra credit for doing HW, attending class, clear handwriting. Its an easy A.
I did not take Stats in high school but everyone always says it is such an easy class, here with Goss it is not. He is very difficult to understand. He teaches all over the place and rarely can keep up with himself when he is teaching. If you have a difficult time with math DO NOT TAKE HIM.
This guy really shouldn't be teaching as harsh as that is. However, being able to write legibly, hear the questions students ask, and actually get the correct answer to his own problems are pretty important for a professor. I would more questions but he'll have to say "what?" at least 3 times before going of on a completely unrelated tangent.
He's horrible. Period.
he takes out points very easy for little mistakes, but he offers additional work for extra credits.
At the end of the day he wants you to succeed in his class. He has a weird point system that helps you raise a low test grade and if your grade on your final exam is higher than your average, he will give you that as your final grade. He also lets you make up exams to redeem points. Many opportunities to do well and get extra credit.
Prof Goss wants his students to succeed but lectures can be extremely hard to follow. Grades harshly on tests, but offers opportunities with quizzes to boost your grade if you are struggling. Expects a lot of background knowledge on what he is teaching, but tries to be straight forward with what will be on tests. Overall he is ok if you like math
Goss is not a great professor, but not a bad professor. The reason he's not great is he's a tough grader, and he does not explain things that well in his lessons. There are definitely things that he covers well, but others where you are more confused. He's good in the respect that he does a very good job of telling you what to expect on tests.
Dont just dont
He is really not the best teacher. However, he does want you to pass. Goss is always willing to help during office hours. He is very hard to understand and when teaching is not focused. Goss does have the best intentions.
I am not great at math at all and his class was always a struggle for me but I have to say that he really cared about his students. If you really study for the final, it is a piece of cake and he will switch your overall grade with your final grade if you do well.
Don't take him! Really nice and wants you to pass but he is IMPOSSIBLE to understand. When teaching, he ALWAYS makes mistakes and gets the answer wrong. He doesn't even know wat he is teaching because when I ask him for help, he can't explain to us. Gives alot of extra credit and so it is kinda easy to pass.
People say he is bad but he isn't that bad. He's very confusing, but all his tests are found online which is an easy A.I feel bad because he is trying his best and he's so sweet. He gives tons of extra credit which helps your grade so much. I know its weird but he doesn't count ur final exam cuz he doesn't want y' all to fail. Pls give him a chance
I was worried that I would fail cuz all of the other bad comments. He gives tons of EC and the tests are easy to find. I felt bad cuz he told us that next year is gonna be his last year because of all the negative feedbacks. He literally wants everyone to pass. You have to do the final but he won't count it cuz he wants everyone to pass.
