This was possibly the WORST teacher i've had in my life...luckily I had calc in H.S. If you want him to shut up, ask him about hockey because he'll ramble on forever about that. Don't ask questions, he'll get flustered and mad at you. Can't teach!!!

I have never EVER had a teacher so terrible in my entire life!! I consider myself to be fairly good in math and I was completely lost throughout the semster with this guy! The only reason I even made it was because I had a precalc class in highschool.

Isn't a good professor AT ALL. I had to drop the class because I wasn't understand anything he taught. He pretty much explains only how to do one math problem, then expects you to do a whole assignment without knowing how to do the rest of the problems.

He is rediculus. Don't take the class. It is not even worth your time. I only go when I have to turn homework it. But he does give you pretty much the same exact problems as on the test.

He is the crappiest professor. He is not helpful at all, and if you listen to his lecture you will be more confused then if you did it on your own. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!

This is the worst math class I have ever taken in my entire life. I would advise people to stay clear of choosing this professor for any of the courses that he teaches.

He is a nice guy and tries to help but he just cant. i dont know where he is from, but it isnt the US. he doesnt understand questions, and he grades hw for right or wrong. if you havent taken this course before i wouldnt advise him.

2nd semester senior year...was bad. so i took this hoping to do well. everything that my teacher taught me has been put into a blender, and poured back into my brain! i have no idea what he is talking about, and he doesnt even know how to use a CALCULATER

HORRIBLE! On the second day of class he told a student who was working on the assignment for his class, they were there to listen to him, and if they wanted to do that, quote "THERES THE DOOR...DON'T LET IT HIT YOU IN THE ASS ON THE WAY OUT" He is very hard to understand, and makes class miserable!!

Easiest math class i ever took. But don't expect to learn anything. He won't teach you a thing. The extra credit is amazing, nothing less than a 100% on all exams. If you allready know math, and need to fullfill a requirment, take MTH 130 w/ Grossman over 105 or 107, much much easier.

Terrible teacher, does not explain anything, expects you to know what you are doing even though he doesn't even know what he is doing.

My advice is don't take George as a prof. He is a nice fella but he does not know how to teach, at all. His class is pointless to go to but still somewhat hard so it puts the burden on you, which sucks. Nice guy, but unorganized and very hard to learn from. Seriously, dont take him. Just dont do it.

The man does not teach. He doesn't do any examples at all. He doesn't go over homework problems because he 'doesn't want to give you the answers' and wants you to learn to do it yourself. He talks so quiet that the second row can't hear. Terrible teacher, worst one i've ever had in my life by far.

Worst professor I have ever had. He cannot teach for anything. He will not answer your homework questions or any questions pretty much. The questions you ask, he answers completely different then what you asked. I do not reccommend this professor to anyone. Trust me, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!no joke

This guy is just a plain ****, somebody should be fired...if he doesn't have tenure it should be him, if he does, whatever dumbass gave it to him. Makes you hate math, him, and CMU for hiring such a jerk. If they were all like him i'd reconsider my college choice, no kidding.

Seriously, This professor Sucks! He should be fired for CMU'S Reputation's sake. If I had to pick a college based on its professors alone, I would not go here just because of this professor. Take these ratings seriously. I think people need to build an army of students to get rid of him.

As long as you do your assignments and have some background knowledge in math you will do ok, its hard to follow what hes talking about sometimes though. He's willing to try and help, he's just bad at helping.

Horrible Professor....went off on random topics, came into class ****, wondered out of the classroom, and laughed at the stupidest things...His TA's were wonderful, he WAS NOT..DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASSES FROM HIM!

If you have a class scheduled with him get out. This man is a horrible prof. He is very confrontational with students when they as questions during class. He has a complete inability to focus...wastes a lot of time. I only took anything from the class when the GA taught the class. CMU is flushing our money down the toilet by keeping him!

This guy is bad!!! I had a problem I did not get and all he would do is tell me I was doing something wrong. Don't take this guy unless you can learn by yourself from the book. This guy is the worst teacher and I have known some pretty bad ones. Don't take him if at all possible.

Don't take this class with grossman!!! I'm convinced he's insane. You can tell he truly understands math very well, but he has no idea how to relate it to students. If you ask for help and you get lucky enough for him to go over it again, he says the same thing he said a minute before. The most likely response will be some ramblings about Canada.

the class is really easy if you had algebra,trig, and geometry in highschool, but if you didnt dont even bother taking the class cause you will definitely fail. He does not answer questions and the notes are ridiculously useless.

I went to math tutoring to pass his class with an A or B. If it wasn't for that, I would've failed. Half way through the year, when things got tough, he SUCKED as a teacher. He never fully answers questions and never bothers to find other ways to explain things. If you get him for Business Calculus, you best hope you can get right on out.

ABSOLUTE WORST TEACHER, you learn absolutely nothing in the class. If you haven't had the equivalent to this class in high school, good luck passing with Grossman as your professor. Steer clear of this guy no matter what!!!

The worst teacher never take him, he has NO teaching skills, he has no idea what he is doing. Three exams 4 homework assignments. Its a horrible class, not because of the material but because of his teaching methods. DONT TAKE HIM!

The class itself was not hard if you don't mind teaching yourself as far as the instructor he is an astronaut from canada his instruction is a waste of time and money. This prof doesn't teach. He just mumbles some stuff, while writting on the board. Other than this class, I have always gotten A's in math class, even in calc 2 with Ong. I just had no idea what was going on, and the little bit that i did learn was from the book. Don't bother taking down his notes, because they won't help...

Talks down to you, hard to understand his speech, and definetly not good at teahcing. It felt like he was off in his own little world, scrabbling on the whiteboard.

I took A.P calculus in high school, received an A, and I currently have a 60%. He can not teach. I come to class expecting to have a clear explanation and here I am at my dorm teaching myself math. Duly noted that several people in class who are really good at math are doing fine, but I need a TEACHER! Do not suffer this class it's a joke!

He is a terrible professor. He walks into class looking like he woke up from sleeping in his Office, he doesn't teach (when he does, he screws problems up), and doesn't grade, he has Grad Students do that. He loves going on long-winded tangents, and making antagonistic comments if you don't understand the material. Avoid at all costs!!!

Actually, he is not American, he is Canadian, however, he truly is very difficult to understand. I didnt learn a thing, but BS'ed my way into an A for this class. Avoid taking him if you can, but if you know your way around a calculator and are OK at math, you will probably get an A.

Prof. Grossman is not a very good teacher. I had to teach myself everything out of the book. I rarely went to class, but I went to the SI's and they were more helpful than he is. You have homework every other week and three exams. He gives out study guides and gives the soulutions to them. It is an easy A. Hes easy going but hard to understand.

Almost impossible to understand. Teaches math from a power point. Only way to learn is by going to SI. All homework is out of the book.

Talks very quiet and you can barley hear him. He mumbles a lot to himself and does NOT explain problems well if at all. Its all on a powerpoint and he just flips through the slides. I would not advise anyone to take this class. Only way you learn anything is teach yourself out of the book or go to the SI session

He is by far one of the worst teachers i have ever had!!!!! He literally never completes a full sentence or thought when he is talking to you...and he literally has no clue to teach. Im a strong math student and i am really struggling. i would 100% take this class with a different professor. DO NOT waste ur time with him...he will just confuse you

Once he chased me into the hall because I decided to leave his lecture. Not a good teacher will often stand facing the board waving his arms around expecting you to know what is going on in his head. Mumbles a lot and seems very socially awkward. Do not take any class with him.

Grossman is a clown. He rarely explains what he is doing and often just copies onto the board the example that is given by the generic powerpoint provided by the book. The good part is that as long as you do the homework you will understand the class and do good on the exams. Attendance isn't required and I don't go myself. He gets off topic easily

Clearly Central didn't conduct an interview when they hired this clown because he can't be understood when talking one-on-one much less in front of a class. Lost the small amount of respect I had for this imbecile when he showed up on exam day with not enough exams for everyone. If you leave lecture early he will literally chase you down the hall.

He is awful. I took pre-calc in high school so I wasn't too worried about this class. He says attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to leave he interrogates you. I have to teach myself everything.. The SI is very useful and she is the only reason I did decent on the exams. Save yourself the frustration and don't take his class.

Although he doesn't have a single clue about calculus, he is a really nice guy and you're basically guaranteed an A if you do the homework and the extra credit assignment at the end.

Test are hard because you don't learn anything in his lectures, you are basically teaching yourself the material. Homework is online. Sweetest man ever but definitely shouldn't be teaching.

The only reason I even went to the lectures was that I was productive and got lots of homework done; I would still leave early. He is very soft spoken and is very hard to hear at times. Sometimes during the lecture he would just get up and leave without a word. He does give a lot of extra credit and one of them can get you up to 4%.

I'm not learning a single thing in this class, as I am having to teach myself everything. He does not explain anything well and skips over a lot of information. He is hard to understand and expects us to know things we don't. Exams and homework are nothing alike. I hope I actually pass this class but I'm losing hope. Definitely do not recommend.

The class was 2 hours long and he only lectured for less than half that time on some days. He didn't explain concepts well. He expected us to already know it. Had creepy old man vibes. When I asked for help all he told me was that the international students already know this stuff. Um, that's not something you say to a struggling student! Awful!!!!

Professor Grossman is one of the worst professors I've ever had. The work he shows us on the board does not usually match up with what is on the homework, and is hard to follow along with. YOU WILL end up teaching yourself. You get to work in groups for the test & have a 40pt extra credit essay at the end. I ended up watching another profs lecture.

Please avoid. You ONLY learn by doing practice problems and teaching yourself, and then follow that with the HW. I kid you NOT, he yelled at me in front of the whole class when I confirmed if all we had to do was the HW. Not worth the time.

He teaches by hastily clicking through slides and asks if we see it, and then onto the next slide. It is quite literally impossible to follow along in class, so be prepared to look things up.

Prof Grossman is super sweet, but he's just not the best teacher :( he is, however, very flexible and super accessible outside of class. You can work on all exams in a group, he offers extensions on HW, and a 40 point extra credit essay. All lecture slides are on BB. You will most likely have to teach yourself a lot of the material.

If you truly want to learn Pre-Calc then you should not take this class. He just goes over the slides and asks if we see them and says yeah and ok a lot. My brother had this guy back in 2014 and absolutely nothing has changed. He's been teaching for decades and yet he still has never figured out how to actually communicate information to another human being. If he's the only professor available you're literally better off waiting until the next semester to take the class.

I'm unsure if English isn't his first language or if he has a speech disorder, but he is hard to hear and even harder to understand. I found that asking him a question only leads to more confusion. If you are able to teach yourself and use Blackboard, the homework is generally clear, but attending class just feels like a waste of time and money.

Grossman is lovely but a terrible teacher and reads off the PowerPoint which is already confusing. He's very kind and he will accommodate if necessary but his teaching skills you're better off just teaching yourself.

When I say hilarious, I mean to laugh at, not with. In the most respectful way I can, he speaks worse than the stereotype way that President Biden is portrayed. He rarely finishes sentences and is incomprehensible during lectures. He did allow every project to be group based, including the first exam, so the grad students did everything.

For decades this guy has been awful and that will never change. Anything you learn you'll have to learn yourself. I skipped his class to go to the math lab to learn the material. STAY AWAY

Avoid at all costs! Worst instructorI have ever had! Homework not consistent with lessons. Tests were to be "homework based" but were not. He taught through powerpoint, no whiteboard, and no additional examples beyond the online textbook. Failed 3 tests while in the class although I was receiving private tutoring. Not worth the money.

He is the most boring professor, I only got a A in this class because he allows you to use your phone and laptop on quizzes and exams, but his lectures are awkwardly quiet, everyone in the lecture hall can hear me typing this review as of right now because he talks so quietly. If you want to actually learn the curriculum, expect. to teach yourself.

The only way to succeed is if you're an independent learner. The only upsides are that the material is online, and he allows laptop/phone use during tests. Avoid at all costs.

I can't say anything positive about George Grossman, He can barely speak, and he doesn't know how to grade things, not to mention when you tell him you have a problem in the class, he'll tell you that he doesn't want to hear it. He constantly called out me and my friend for no reason.
