He's the best history teacher
No Comments
very good, awesome speaker, makes history new again
puts history into perspective. Great notes
SUPER DETAILED-KNOWS HIS STUFF,VERY NICE
knows his stuff and is a very excellent prof!
Easy to take notes from, spend lots of time on the easys
good guy but marks the essays very hard.
very enjoyable, interesting. loved it.
Excellent professor who loves his subject matter. He's organized and is definately a prof worth taking a class from.
a visiting prof that I wish would move to Brandon! best prof I had all year
Love how you can see his passion for history. His passion makes me enjoy the class so much, and have fun with it. He is really easy to understand and take notes from (lots and lots of notes but that is great) and he is just a very nice man. BEST PROF EVER
Tells history like a story and you can tell he loves it. If you are willing to put in the effort and show up to class, you should do well. Tough essay marker, but lets you choose your own questions on the exams. Very thorough with notes.
I thought I would hate this class but he's an awesome prof. You can tell his passion for history, and he tells it like a story. The essays are marked tough but the tests are easy. he gives lots of suggestions! awesome prof!
You guys are all CRAZY! You couldn't par me to take another class from this guy!You cannot question him on anything, b/c hes always right!I hated him!Terrible
you need to be less picky about the little things and concentrate on what's really important. i find your class really interesting.
can tell he really cares about the subject matter, quizes are ridiculously easy, marks hard on essays
very excited about the subject matter, made it interesting, but a little too hard on essays
He is one of the best profs I have ever had. He is passionate about the material and really cares. I would recommend him to anyone. Happy to see that he is teaching an upper level course in Fall 2004, would take if I hadn't graduated.
Very good professor, I would recommend him to any one looking to take a History class or an upper level class. Makes the class fun and easy to get interested in the material. Hard marker on essays though.
I loved this class. The topics may at times be dry, but I liked the class enough that I am taking another one with him in the fall!
Very passionate about the material and about teaching. I wish the university had more professors like George.
Good prof. willing to talk to you about the class and allow you to do all you can to boost your marks if need be. Definitely a guy that cares about his students. Trying to get Hoffman as a prof. if you're taking a history class is worth the effort.
He's a great teacher. You can tell that he's very passionate about history.

He is a great teacher. Cares about his students, wants them to do the best they can and improve. Helps them out to do better, enjoys teaching, and very clear and willing to make time and help out students.
Very good teacher. He is passionate history and it was a pleasure to come to his class.
although his classes can be long and boring, he is a good prof, easy to approach and fair marker.
Okay...I don't know what the other people were smoking..but this prof suks because in his lectures he rambles on and on and on and on and on until finally in the last 5 mintues of class he gets to the point...to much rambling and very unclear at times if you like sleeping take this class...
Really clear prof. His lectures are very organized, and easy to follow. Sometimes they can get a little dry.. but common, it's HISTORY! He is a great marker, and gives a lot of helpful feedback on the essays. I will definately take more classes from him
Wow, what an absolutely fascinating man...his lectures are very clear, detailed and concise. I absolutely love him and want to take more classes with him!!
He is a very clear prof, anyone who doesn't like him is in that High School mentality of "School Sucks, I Hate It" which, i think people like that aren't ready for university, and should go back home to like with there parents and hang out with high school kids. Basically, he's the clearest prof i have and the easiest to write notes for!
Very good teacher! Knows what he is talking about. Excellent class.
Very hard marker. Wants to fail you on essay's. This class is basically an english class because its all essay's. Don't take this losers class!
Total jerk. Wants to fail people, thinks history is an english class. marks you on how you wirit not on content. Stay away from this ****!
Hoffman is alright. He really knows what he is talking about so that's good. The essay in this class is worth 40% so be sure that you are good at writing essays. Also, make sure you are really interested in the topic before you go into the class, otherwise you will want to fall asleep.
His lectures are clear, easy to understand, a bit rambly but he's rambling to fill in background information. He knows exactly what he's talking about and is very helpful. If you struggle with essays, make sure you make appointments with writing services because he marks his essays hard, but he gives you lots of feedback.
A great professor. His lectures are very clear and he knows the material in great detail. Helpful if you have questions on material or for essays. However, if you don't enjoy writing essays then I would maybe take this class from a different prof. because there is an essay worth 40% of your mark.He also marks the essay very tough.Good prof.
He is a Great prof! Be prepared to write lots of notes. Make use of writing facilities b/c he marks very hard.
Total ****. I would not recommend taking a class from him. He makes mistakes and will not admit or even think he might have. He put a 30% for my first midterm mark when I really got 75% and I have been arguing with him because that is a huge difference. He is a jerk who thinks he does nothing wrong and for that I am missing a whole 45% off o
Greatest teacher ever! The way his lectures are organized is so perfect it's scary. Take his class!
Really good prof, but final is tough. Make sure and ask lots of questions, hes really good at getting back to you in a short amount of time. He only does one essay, but its an important one, class was really well organized, and he knows what hes talking about. Was an extremely good frist year history course.
George is a very good teacher. I've taken 2 of his classes now and I plan on taking more in the future if possible
George is a great prof. Lectures are very clear and easy to follow. Helps with essays and assignments as much as you want. Answers any questions raised in class. Knows his stuff, however he marks the major essay pretty tough so be sure to take the time to do well on the essay. Recommend him for sure.
Very good prof, tells you what will be on the tests, lectures are very clear and well organized.
great teacher. you can tell he's really interested in the topics he covers which helps to make any class more interesting and easy to follow. just be sure to hand in the big essay and you'll do GREAT!
His lectures were well structured and very clear. However, his essay marking was outrageous. As an English Major, I have had MANY papers marked and NEVER have I seen anyone be so nit-picky about so many aspects of a paper. If you are a weak writer, I would advise that you avoid this class, the written essay work 40% is harsh!
George is a great prof. He really cares about history and is very inspiring. Everyone who is complaining about him is nuts. There is only one paper - and he gives you topics to choose from. Very challenging, interesting and fulfilling class. I reccomend Hoffman to all who are interesed in Hist.
Great Prof. I had him for both History 100 and 200. I recommend him to any student. Workload is reasonable. he is a tough marker, but fair. When you do an essay in his class he will tell you on your paper what you need to work on. He is very clear. if you keep up with the reading you will do fine.
Hoffman is by far one of the best profs at the UofR. His knowledge in outstanding and he outlines his lectures with such clarity. He does mark hard on the essay so if you are a weak writer, take your essay to the writing clinic.
clearly i am just another person who thinks mr.hoffman is awesome. He really is. I took 100 with him and he saw me in the hall and remembered my marks on my essay and final (this was over a year later!!). He is soo helpful, apreciates hard work and is an over nice man. TAKE HIS CLASS if u like history
What an awesome prof, he loves the subject and loves to teach. He really hooked me on history, even though I'm in science, I'm definetely going to take atleast 3 more history classes. He's experienced, smart, timely and organized. He's the best prof that I've had in a long time.
Wonderful prof. Extremely clear with his instructions and lectures. Incredibly organized and he honestly wants to help his students. Very accessible. I would happily take another class with him.
His lectures were very clear and well orgagnized. He repeats stuff ALOT so you wont miss anything. He is a hard marker on the essays- I'm use to getting high 80s and only got high 70s on my essay. Overall he's an approachable guy but his expectations on the essays are way to high.
Super, SUPER nice, will help you locate sources for essays and is overall incredibly helpful. Repeats stuff in lectures so easy to take notes, essay was MUCH more difficult than exam. I usually get mid-high 80's on essays and only got 71% Overall, very friendly, knows his stuff, and not hard to get good marks.
By far the best prof I have ever taken a class from. Took a fairly dry subject (Canadian history) and made it interesting. Tests are essay style and involve a lot of writing. Good English skills are a must for the required essay. I took this course at Brandon University in spring session, I wish he would teach here full time!
rambling lectures. worst prof ever. arrogant jerk. essay was bull. horrible marker, he is not motivational and tells you that you will be getting low on the essay and tests. a pain about attendence. marks on a curve. your grade will go down. do not take this class, especially in the s/s. i deserved WAY higher marks than i recieved.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. Seriously. Don't listen to the naysayers - he is simply AMAZING.
He is the best prof I've had. He makes everything really easy and straight-forward. I definitely reccomend taking his class especially in first year. One term-paper, one mid-term, one final. That's it. He's actually interesting and helpful. AWESOME PROF!
This professor will at first make any student interested or not in history hinge on his knowledge of subjects and ability to teach. However, I myself am a huge history nerd/buff and after writing his mid-term, i find he does not possess good skills as a marker I included every single key point in the midterm but barely passed. this prof=hit or miss
His lectures were easy to follow and take notes from. He didn't just read from power point, which was great. He had lots of enthusiasm and knowledge about subject matter. Fair marker. He made me want to take more history classes.
He is actually a really good professor. He marks extremely hard, but your at university so what else are we suppose to expect. His lectures are very thorough and I definitely wrote more notes in his class than in any other class I have ever taken! So if you despise taking notes be prepared. If you really do like History it is definitely worth it.
Hoffman is a very good professor, especially if you aren't sure about taking a history class. He seems to enjoy what he teaches, and if you have questions he is always willing to help. Although, he does tend to go over things again and again at times.
He was extremely boring...and you took lots of notes..If you missed a class you better catch up.. His midterm and finals were good, since he is not a hard marker..but i honestly feel like i learned more in grade 12 history.. because this history class was not interesting to me at all...
He is the most amazing prof at the U of R. I couldn't wait to come to class and listen to his lectures. The hour would fly by and he so passionate about what he is teaching. He made events that should be boring fascinating and made me love history! Take a class from him -- you won't regret it!
DO NOT TAKE A CLASS FROM HIM!!!!!!! Brutal prof!!!!
He is the greatest Prof ever if you follow his outlines and attend his lectures and write better than me you will be do great on his class he really knows what he is talking about i love his class and i enjoy every second of it so no better choice than him if your taking hist. i wish he thought higher levels too
Good professor, he's really easy to follow, his lectures are planned meticulously and he really loves the subject matter, however it's easy to get bored. One big negative is that the essays were handed back AT the final.. which was kind of silly, they should have just been due earlier.
amazing prof. very clear. good assignments. interesting to listen to.
decent prof but marks hard. class is important. and final is worth like 45% or higher. I dont recomend but he seems like an alright guy.
Had his class at 8:30 in the morning, bad idea! The topics in History 100 are boring enough, and he doesn't help the situation. Very hard maker! He grades his essays much much harder then an average english teacher would. I would not recommend him, but unfortunately he is usually the only one teacher History 100. Good Luck.
He develops points very well. He is one of the clearest profs in the 100 level courses of the Faculty of Arts. If you attend class you'll see that the elements of the stories he tells will be made so clear a 6 year old could understand them. He does not assume that you have prior knowledge, as many first year teachers are [unfairly] wont to do.
George is an excellent prof. He is very clear in his lectures and organized them very well. Tests are great with lots of choice.
Nice guy, but tends to ramble. Tests had lots of choice but he was a somewhat hard marker. Gave lots of feedback on the paper.
Amazing professor. He knows what he's talking about and obviously loves the topic! He tends to repeat himself over and over, but I guess it makes sure you know the highlights! Any question you have, he tells you the clear answer. No text book use, which is nice on the budget! Super nice guy, I would take his class again in a heart beat!
Really good prof i never took a history class before and he was more then helpful to me and others. I would highly recommend him
Great prof! I have had two classes with him and would gladly take more. He lets you know exactly what he expects and is willing to help you find sources for you papers or answer any questions about class or history in general. He gives more feed back on the paper than any prof I have ever had. He cares about his students interest in history!
Such a great prof. His lectures were always interesting and very easy to take notes from - he repeats the key points and speaks clearly. He is extremely knowledgeable and easy to learn from - no textbook, so all exams came straight from the lectures. Very helpful and would recommend him as a first-year professor.
Great prof. Classes were 50 min. 3 times a week so it never seemed to drag. He's very articulate and clear during lectures and about what he expects from students. Very good elective, interesting subject matter. However, not an easy marker. Be prepared to get a lower mark than you expect. Still, he's always willing to help students out.
Great prof who explains material thoroughly and who is extremely professional and well prepared. This man truly cares about teaching. Very, very highly recommended.
He had some helpful comments when grading the weekly tutorials. Generally, he was helpful with understanding historical facts. However, he focused much too heavily on the structure of the bibliography and other structural aspects of an essay, instead of the actual content. Many professors are like this, so it isn't unheard of, but is frustrating.
Great prof! Very understanding and helpful whenever help is needed. He is very clear in what he wants and expects for papers and exams. Test material comes from lecture notes, (and you will be writing or typing like a mad man all class). The structure of his lectures are also very helpful when it comes to studying.
Great prof. I saw people on here saying how he's a hard marker so I wasn't expecting great marks, but from what I learned writing his exams is that he'll mark you higher if you put a little extra effort in - what he has in lectures isn't everything from the textbook, so extra readings will get you a higher mark. It's what I did and I loved him!!
Mr. Hoffman is all you could ever ask for in an educator. He is VERY clear, he is passionate about history, and he gives students every opportunity to be successful. If you show up to class and pay attention, you can develop a strong set of class notes and do well. As far as reading goes, online articles are more than manageable. Great prof!
Overall a good professor, however, you will be treated like you are still in high school. His lectures are informative but quite boring so be prepared to fall asleep. If you attend every class there is no chance that you will not pass this class.
He didn't post lectures online, so we had to write after his words, but it was easy, because he spoke good. We didn't have to buy textbook, he gives articles to read. I have read not all of them coz they were hard to understand , and still received a good mark. Easy midterm, around 6 pages essay on various topics, and easy but long final exam.
I enjoyed this class very much! George is a great prof. and keeps the class interesting. There was no textbook but, there was online articles that were necessary to read for the midterm and final. Only the 2 exams and one essay. Overall i would rate this class a 8.5/10 and the prof. a 9/10!
Attend class--he evens states if you miss a class, most people end up with bad grades or fail. He makes Canadian history interesting. I hated history but I took it because I had too. I didn't do well in the class, but if you take good notes and pay attention you will be fine. He is a sweetheart.
He is probably one of the best professors the U of R has to offer. Attendance is a must or you won't pass. Lectures aren't put online but he speaks slow and repeats enough that you will be able to get down all the notes. Only two finals and an essay. While a hard marker if you put in the work and study you should be able to pass with high marks.
Professor Hoffman doesn't post any lecture notes online so attendance is mandatory but it is easy to take notes as he speaks at a good pace and repeats key points. He responds quickly on URcourses and is always willing to help. No textbook class just assigned readings online. One paper, a midterm and a final which he provides tons of feedback on.
Hoffman is a great prof. He is very clear and makes sure to emphasize important points. He is always willing to help outside of class and responds to urcourses email quickly. He is a nice teacher and makes history interesting. Make sure you attend lectures because he focuses his exam questions on things he talks about in class.
Be careful, Hoffman is a quite tough marker. For student who English is not your first language, DON NOT TAKE IT, he will make it as an English class for you!!!
Best class and proff that I've ever had! Lectures though are 100% mandatory, if you skip classes than you won't do good on exams.
George was a great prof who was clear on his expectations. He occasionally jumped around during lectures but for the most part was easy to follow. There is no assigned text for his 202 class so it's important to go to class.
Mr. Hoffman is a very great teacher for first year university. Even if I was in my fifth year, second degree, he just makes the class easy. He repeat the subject many times so if you missed out one thing, you will catch up. He is very open to help the students. Make sure you attempt to his lecture and do your reading and you will do great.
I took intro Canadian history with Hoffman during the spring session at Brandon University, While the classes were lecture heavy, you could tell that he was passionate about the subject and he really tried to help all of the students in class and out of class.
Dr. Hoffman is an outstanding professor in terms of quality of his lecture and teaching material. He gives amazing lecture with full depth of the topic and expects his students to answer his questions in full details without missing out a single point, that makes him a tough grader. But overall, he's the "History's Heisenberg."
Not a good prof for spring sessions, or first year. His expectations for papers are what 3rd year students would be able to write. Expects complete memorization of terms and concepts which is impossible. Expectations simply to high unless you are taking ONLY that course. DO NOT challenge him, very defensive and marks u accordingly afterwards.
Very good professor who loves what hes teaching. Really good class for first years as he takes the time to explain everything he speaks on! No text book which is nice and a mid term, essay and final! Take his classes if you can! You wont regret it!
Mr. Hoffman is a great Prof. he really knows his stuff and understands first-year students and the struggles that they face. no textbook for this class, he only uses online articles that are posted on UR Courses. He doesn't post lecture notes, so attending class is essential to doing well.
Really knows his stuff, but is the hardest marker I've ever encountered. When it comes to exams be prepared to put in some serious work and not get anything above a 75, in fact, I'm sure he goes out of his way to make sure nobody touches 80. Wont be taking another class of his.
George was a great professor to have. He didn't request a textbook for the class and gave out online articles, but he does expect students to attend, mostly because he says things that he doesn't post online. It can be tricky to get a good mark, but that is reliant on your ability to pay attention.
pretty good teacher, he knows what he's talking about. Willing to answer any questions, but lectures are pretty boring. If you miss class, good luck getting any help from him on what you missed. He expects you can ask someone else in the class but not always are strangers willing to give out their notes
No textbook in the class, just lecture and online articles. His lecture gets a bit dry at times. The exams are pretty much just memorization so pretty easy. Only caveat is he has TA's mark the essays and they mark considerably harder than he would. Not really a GPA booster but you can get a solid mark with only the midterm, essay and final exam.
He is a very knowledgeable professor who is willing to help his students by answering their e-mails on time and giving them extra office hours. The actual class was actually quite enjoyable for the most part, but it can get boring if you don't like the subject. All in all, this is a class where it's easy to pass but hard to do well in.
Lectures in the class are pivotal and the key to a good grade. He doesn't post any notes online so you must attend and take down a good set of notes. Lectures can get a bit dry but he tries his best to keep them entertaining. There is an essay, 11 online articles to read, a midterm and a final exam. Class is easy as long as you show up!
George Hoffman is a great professor. His lectures are amazing, very interesting and his explanations are very good. If you don't miss classes and take notes, you will find easy to pass. He is always available to answer the students questions. He makes History even more interesting in his lectures.
George is an excellent professor. His online class was well structured and spaced out, and he gives extensive feedback for all assignments. The readings were interesting and easy to read. I read them all once for the tutorial questions, and once again before the final. You could get away without the textbook, but it will help to push your mark up.
Definitely lecture heavy, for that reason showing up is super helpful. He's an interesting guy to listen to, his lectures aren't boring. I find him to be a pretty easy grader, and I genuinely look forward to his lectures.
Hoffman is very passionate about history and that shows through his lectures. He wants everyone to succeed and gives more than enough warning time for due dates. He will meet outside of class to discuss any assignments and will give good feedback. There is no textbook. He lectures as a story, so being there is a must! Exams are straight forward
His enthusiasm for history makes his lectures easy to listen to, and his repetition of points is very helpful for note-taking. Always lets you know what due dates for assignments are coming up. Make sure you attend every class or get notes from someone. Bit of a tough grader, but not too bad. Lots of topic choices for essays and on tests.
I would never take a class from him again. His lectures are boring, CANNOT read his handwriting. I repeat, CANNOT read his handwriting. What we did in lecture was never on exams , he marks papers unfairly. Almost didn't pass the class. Would suggest not taking a class from this prof.
he is a real gem. I used to hate history before I took his class, but now I have started to develop an interest in Canadian history. His lectures are amazing. I would recommend attending his lectures on a regular basis if you want a good grade.
George is beyond knowledgable in Canadian history. This being said, his lectures are a bit dry and you HAVE to show up to pass. He assigns a ten-page paper that is brutal but doable. Overall, not the best, not the worst.
Gives you everything you need so you don't need to purchase a textbook. Gives you a fair amount of time to work on assignments and the paper. As well as gives you useful tips on how to write a history exam and a paper. 10 assignments, 1 paper and a final exam. Lot of online material reading. Would recommend.
Hoffman's HIST 113 is composed of 10 tutorials, with a paragraph written on each, a large essay, and a final. Grading was unreasonable - he takes marks off for not answering questions not asked by the paragraph prompt itself. There is a TON of content to learn. A plus is that there are a lot of choices for questions for assignments and the final.
Class was online so no textbook required. Reasonable amount to read, flexible on due dates for reading assignments and module submissions. The paper was a large effort but fair. Final was also reasonable and what you would expect. George was so passionate about the topics and gave excellent, prompt feedback. One of my favourite classes!
I really enjoy history so I loved this class. He was very knowledgable in all aspects, which makes him mark pretty hard on assignments. It was full of a lot of weekly tutorials and readings, but was enjoyable for someone interested in history. However, he is flexible on dates. The final exam is super hard as he expects you to remember a lot.
Generally straight forward content. Does not hold zoom lectures, however and expects you to teach the information to yourself. Our class was also supposed to be held on Monday and Wednesday but he posts Tuesday and Thursday. He will make us do a quiz on the Monday however, and still post both days. Essentially giving us three classes a week.
George Hoffman's HIST 100 WEB class needs to be seriously reviewed by the university. Hoffman should not be able to teach HIST 100 as an entirely web-based class as he does not have the class set up in a reasonable manner. Be prepared to teach yourself ALL of the material, receive marks that are extremely harsh, and spend 10+ hrs on your final.
Professor Hoffman is very knowledgeable. Reading the assigned material is necessary to understanding the subject and to doing well in the class. This is an online course that you teach to yourself, but Professor Hoffman is very accessible, and will quickly and happily answer any questions. This course included 10 short answer questions, 1 essay.
I love George. He was very organized. Knew exactly what he was talking about and gave back good remarks. He truly cares about his students. Would definitely take again
I took his class in winter 2022. He seems like a professor who loves teaching and truly cares for his students. History can be a boring subject in general but he made it fairly easy for everyone to understand.
I enjoyed his Intro to Canadian History class. The only things graded were the midterm, final and one essay about a topic of your choice. So there isn't a lot of work for the class, you just have to make sure you know your stuff when it comes to the exams. He told us what type of questions would be on the exams, as well as what to study.
He is a very knowledgeable history prof that knows his stuff. Attendance is 100% mandatory as he gives lectures on the topics. Can be abit dry as it is purely lectures, but that is sort of the norm for history courses. Just 3 grading materials (midterm, essay, final) and he gives a ton of feedback. I would highly recommend this prof.
Incredible teacher. His tutorials are extensive but well written, and easy to comprehend.
such a caring professor. Hoffman really encouraged any and all of his students to seek help from him when necessary, and is truly willing to help his students understand and succeed. very thorough lectures and tutorials, please do the guide questions lol. only 3 graded assignments: midterm, essay, and final.
Super accommodating, only real complaint is he is an extremely strict grader. Nice guy!
He's one of the best professors i have had during my time so far. He tells you how you should answer questions, makes time for you if you need extra help. I really, really enjoy his class.
George is seriously one of the best professors I have had. He gives amazing feedback and answers questions in a timely manner. I know nothing about history and he was fair with his grades. Also, his syllabus outlines the entire class accurately and the format of his class is great and consistent. I would take a class from him again in the future.
The perfect professor doesn't exi... wait, he does. It's George Hoffman. This is an awesome prof. He grades fairly and his material is insightful and interesting (specially my fav part about New France). His feedbacks are detailed and helpful. He grades fast and answers emails promptly. He also cares about student's success.
Very tough marker and the tests he says have a lot of choice but it does not really. If you want to do good read the material and study for hours. The essay was a good grade booster but the tests are very very hard.
George Hoffman is an awesome prof. He graded each assignment quickly and was always quick to respond to emails. No textbook, his tutorials were well written and easy to comprehend. Only spent about an hour or two a week on this class and finished with an 81.
I am in my fourth year now, and George is one of the best professors I have had so far. 201 was based on lectures and online posts on UR courses. George is very knowledgeable about the content and goes about teaching at a gradual, good pace. I would take every opportunity I could to take a history class from him again
Professor Hoffman is great - passionate, fair, and provides excellent feedback. The workload is reasonable, with a focus on exams and a major paper. unstuck ai was super helpful for test prep.
Took a Canadian history class from this prof. Only focused on colonial history. Everything from European perspective. Very little content on First Nations and almost none from First Nation perspective. Prof used outdated/inaccurate language to describe some First Nations. Grading was inconsistent.Would not take a class from this prof again.
I didnt like Hoffman at first, but he grew on me. I thought he was super insensitive to the Indigenous peoples in Canada at first- but hes a different generation and truly does not do it on purpose. Have a 1 on 1 conversation with him and youll understand that he recognizes the signifigance of that history. Lectures are slow but hes passionate.
Hoffman's an outstanding professor. Lectures are easy & enjoyable, tutorials are well-written & easy to understand. Only two exams and an essay, no other work to submit. very helpful & answers emails promptly, wants students to succeed. Very knowledgeable and makes learning history more interesting. Would absolutely take another class with him! :)
Worst class I've ever taken. Really only talked about the about the American even though it's Canadian history left out a huge chunk im important history when it came to Canada. Would never take a class with him again!
I would deffo recommend him !!
Goated old man. Super chill guy, interesting class. Lectures are entertaining. Yea... I jacked off..
Very enjoyable and interesting lectures. Even in a 3 hour class I never felt bored. He can be a tough grader on essays, but all his criticisms are reasonable, and if you put the work in you can still do very well. Overall, one of the best profs I've had at this school
Amazing prof. Lectures are enjoyable and easy to understand. He is knowledgeable and gives great feedback on the midterm and essay (those, as well as the final, are the only 3 assessments in the course). Very knowledgeable and an overall lovely fella. Has a good sense of humour. He is the reason I started majoring in history in the first place!!!
I've written a couple of good reviews in the past, and I doubt much more needs to be said. George is pound for pound, prof for prof, the undisputed GOAT of the history department at the U of R.
