Dr. Justice gives great lectures. The class is notes-based, so you have to write down everything he says (minimal study guides!). However, he tells great stories and does a valiant job of keeping a lot of confusing information straight. He's open to questions and very, very knowledgeable. Tests are simple but require writing. Recommended!
Very clear professor. You'll be taking notes until your hand cramps; it's all important. He values engaging with sociology. He's a very jovial guy and approachable; really nice guy. Watch out for his papers; he grades VERY strictly. One paper; would've gotten an A+ in any other class but got a C- for style (using parenthesis, different pronouns).
This is a notes-based class. You will take an entire notebook full of notes, but his lectures are actually interesting. He tells history through stories and he kept my attention (a hard thing to do) the entire semester. Just study your notes and you'll do fine on tests. 3 tests and 1 paper. Lots of extra credit given. Just pay attention in class!
Great teacher! Just show up and take notes, you'll get an A! He's also there to help if you need it. However, if you don't like lecture classes, don't take him. His tests are only based on his lectures, but he will post an outline to study by.
Dr. Justice is a great professor. I love him! I was not very interested in history before his class. His class is lecture based so attendance is mandatory, but he is a great teacher and makes students interested. I also believe he looks like Russell Crowe. I recommend him to anyone!!
He is awful, Only 3 tests and a paper and the tests were completely changed around from the notes we took in class. You would have to also read a book and write a six page paper on one topic from the book.
The course covered a ton of material and required extensive note taking, but it was very worth it. I only took the course because it was a requirement, but I quickly became genuinely interested in history. Dr. Justice's cliffhangers at the end of lectures kept me always wondering what would happen in the next class. I highly recommend his classes.
Professor Justice is amazingly patient. He is always available to meet with you and genuinely wants you to do well. Would love to take again!
Notes are essential to the class. He writes the most important topics on the board so be sure to get down what he says on the topic. Assigned one paper which was long and on a biography but you have a while to do it and he will schedule appointments to help go over a paragraph or two. He wants to help you do well and improve your writing skills.
knows his stuff. talks very fast and gets caught up in what hes sayinga nd sometimes gets off topic. he writes the important word or phrase on the board so you have to get the info on the topic straight from his mouth. RECORD him if you can! very helpful cares about his students and wants the best for them, you have to go to him for help.
Dr. Justice is GREAT, very friendly. One of my most favorite professors I've had. He genuinely cares for his students and their success. You take A LOT of notes and ALL of his lectures matter, but they're really interesting and you won't get bored in his class. Tough grader on papers and somewhat tough tests but study the outlines and you'll pass.
Professor Justice is amazing! He is always willing to help and loves when questions are asked in class. Lectures can be long but they will always be interesting. Make sure to take good notes. As long as you use his outlines to study for the tests you will be fine. I would definitely take him again. You will miss a lot of notes if you miss class.
I loved this teacher, his lectures where so inspirational and clear. There was never a day I was bored or distracted. Amazing teacher!
He would have semi- long lectures with pages of notes, but he keeps them interesting. He adds the occasional video and answers any questions you may have. He is my favorite professor so far, and he will probably continue to be.
His class is very interesting. come to class and take plenty of notes and you will be fine. Overall he is a great professor and I would definitely take him again. He does offer plenty of extra credit.
I loved Professor Justice's class- he was by far my best prof at UNG, maybe ever. He lectures all day every day, so you HAVE to go to class to get a good grade, but the lectures were never boring. Three tests and one book report (with a lot of extra credit given). He is an awesome guy and professor, definitely take him if you have the chance!!
Professor Justice gives captivating lectures every day during class unless he decides to let everyone go after a few minutes which happened a few times. Extra credit is available like volunteering at a local history event or attending a veteran's appreciation event. He always ends with a cliffhanger that makes you chuckle at his antics.
Overall great experience in his class. Gives interesting lectures, tells it more as a story which makes it so much more interesting. Make sure you take good notes because the test pretty much cover everything said in class. So far my favorite professor so far!
Justice is an amazing & engaging lecturer! This is the first History class I've ever actually paid attention in. Tests are pretty difficult, but if you show up to class everyday & write down good notes, you'll do fine. He gives a few extra credit assignments and sometimes generous points for them. He gives outlines for exams, but they can be vague.
He's a great professor. I would definitely take his class again. It's all lectures so be prepared to show up to every class and take a lot of notes. You also have to write this 12 page research paper over slavery but he is there to help you. The tests are over the lectures. There pretty easy. Great teacher.
This was a very lecture heavy class, but Justice kept them interesting. We only had 3 tests and a book report. Very vague when giving instructions so be sure to make sure you are on the same page as him. Tests were not too bad but the book report was ridiculous. The majority of the class got below a 75. Take notes in class or u will fail.
Dr. Justice was one of the most amazing professors I have ever had. His lectures were extremely interesting & kept students engaged. In order to do well in this class, definitely show up everyday. He offers a lot of generous extra credit as well! He cares about his students & gives amazing feedback! Coolest guy ever & super easy to get along with!!
Definitely the best professor I've ever had! His class is very lecture heavy, but he keeps it interesting and keeps you engaged the entire time. Only 3 tests and a book report. Be prepared to take a lot of notes and study. Awesome teacher.
Dr. Justice is a good professor. Not a lot of graded items. 3 tests and a paper. Lectures the entire class period but makes it very interesting. Allows 5 absences but wouldn't necessarily suggest it because he covers a lot of material each day. His tests are difficult but not impossible to pass. The Jimmy Carter paper was the only bad part.
My absolute favorite professor at ung. Not only does he make history interesting but you can tell he loves what he does. He tells history like its a story so it doesn't feel like lecture. Make sure you take notes because he doesn't have a power point he goes by. Study your notes closely for test, he words test questions hard sometimes.
His class is all lectures but he makes it really interesting. Take lots of notes and you will have a few tests throughout the semester and one paper. As long as you take good notes and listen in class you will do fine. Test are super easy mostly multiple choice with usually one or two discussion. would definitely take again.
I really enjoyed Dr. Justice's class. Very lecture heavy but I think that should be expected in a history class. I think he did a good job of making it interesting. Only 3 tests and a paper over Jimmy Carter book. READ THE BOOK. There is very little info about it on google. Take clear and thorough notes and you should be fine on the tests.
By far my favorite professor that I've ever had. He really cares about all students and gives plenty of opportunities to earn extra points. His lectures are interesting, funny, and easy to grasp. His tests and quizzes were very straight forward and he is very accessible outside of class.
A very passionate professor who enjoys what he teaches. If you come to class daily and take notes, there are no surprises on exams and his expectations are very clear. Would definitely take again.
FANTASTIC!! If you are a history geek like me, this is the professor for you. He gives incredible lectures with amazing detail. He gets all his test questions from his lectures so take good notes. Other than that, one of the best professors I've ever had.
Good professor! He seems to really enjoy the material he teaches and is very responsive to questions. He gives several extra credit opportunities, most of which are just sitting in on a speech being given on campus. If you take good notes/pay attention the class is an easy-A. Word of warning, don't use your phone or he will yell at/embarrass you.
I really enjoyed this class; It isnt terribly hard and lectures are always interesting. Take detailed notes as the tests tend to have a few specific or even nit picky questions to be sure you paid attention and studied. Mr. Justice is a great professor and you can tell he really does care about his students.
Great professor bumped me 12 points on my overall grade. Went from an D to an B.
Great professor bumped me 12 points on my overall grade. Went from an D to an B. If you are struggling taking notes, talk to him. And he will help you out!
George Justice is by far one of the most incredible professors at UNG. He constantly delivers intriguing and thought provoking lectures. He always leaves you with a cliffhanger at the end of each class and you legitimately want to come back to hear more. Take as many of his classes as you can.
Excellent lecturer, funny, and offers plenty of extra credit. Tests are not hard if you've attended class. :) For the "Black Boy project," you should pick "hunger" as your theme and know up front that it is at least 8 pages long; I tried for something different and got my first C on a paper even though it was a pretty good paper (.
Dr. Justice is a wonderful professor and he always makes class enjoyable. I learned so much from his class, and I would recommend him to anyone. If you pay attention in class and take good notes, you'll do fine on the tests. He grades fairly and is very helpful during office hours. For 2112, he gave two tests and a final, along with a 4-6 pg paper.
Justice gives some of the best lectures I have seen. All his tests are directly from them so as long as you pay attention you will get a good grade. There is one paper that you have to write but beware he grades really hard especially grammar. Over all though great guy will help you and talk to you outside of class.
2 exams - 1 final. 1 14 page paper. 2 book reviews. Dr. Justice posts running notes so you know what to study for. Try to make it to every class because notes are important for the tests. Role is not called but Dr. J does make note of who is there or not. Good class... informative. Doest not post PPs so take notes.
With Dr. Justice, you are going to know exactly what to expect every class. At the end of each class, he tells you what will be discussed next class and is very clear about test dates and the due date of the one paper that is written.
This was by far my favorite class this year and I hate history. Professor Justice has awesome lectures and you learn a lot. There are only 3 tests and a paper, but he gives you clear outlines to help you study. Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but he takes roll every class and you get 5 bonus points on the final for perfect attendance.
Dr. Justice is an amazing teacher. I took him last semester for HIST 2112 and it was by far my favorite class of the year. He is really kind and welcoming as a person, too! If you need help or want to review your notes, go to his office. Make sure you dont mind taking notes and showing up to class each day if you take any of his classes! 10/10! :)
Dr Justice reminds me of a sweet grandpa just trying to tell everyone about history. His lectures are told like a story which make them slightly enjoyable. TAKE GOOD NOTES! He likes to be picky on his exams, and likes the little details. There are only four grades, four exams, so study hard! Never even touched the textbook, but read the Moody book.
Professor Justice is one of the best professors I have ever had in my scholastic career. At first, he comes off pretty strict, but he is extremely passionate in what he teaches, and the lectures are very interesting and informative. He grades the class based on 4 tests. For HIST2111, DO NOT buy the textbook. It was not used once.
Prof Justice is the best history teacher I've ever had. He teaches history as if he is telling a story, and would always end class on a cliffhanger. If you go to speakers/events on campus, he will give extra credit on tests, and if you never miss class, you get five bonus points on the final. TAKE GOOD NOTES! 10/10 recommend
Justice has probably been the best history teacher I've ever had. His lectures are told in stories so he keeps you entertained. You take a lot of notes and if you don't study then you're going to fail! It's a total of 3 tests and a 5-page paper. Study the little details for the test & you should do well. Do any extra credit since they are limited.
He covers a lot of material in his lectures, but as long as you take notes, the tests will be easy. He's very supportive and willing to help if you're struggling in the class. He offers a few extra credit opportunities which are very helpful. He is a pretty easy going teacher as long as you attend class and do the work.
Justice tells history like a story. I learned a lot about history that I didnt remember from high school. Lots of extra credit at the beginning of semester. You have to go to class and pay attention. If you like to skip, dont take him. Tests are lengthy and difficult and require a lot of studying. But if you study in advance, you will get an A.
The BEST professor! I have taken Dr. Justice twice and have learned so much from him. His lectures are entertaining and 9/10 he lets you out a little early if he finishes his lesson. He truly makes learning so enjoyable, UNG is very lucky to have him!
Even though this was a hybrid class, I learned a lot. Dr. Justice gave a study guide and went over it before each test. He does require primary source, Summary assignment and quiz each week. They do take a long time but they really prepare you for the tests.
There was an assigned textbook, then 3 additional books and the tests/quizzes could come from any of the 4! There was absolutely no way to learn all of the material required. Even with open note quizzes or tests it was impossible to find the answers in the time given. Way too many assignments given each week!
With COVID, it was a hybrid class, but no complaints. Was struggling a bit at first, but went and talked to him and succeeded after that. Super helpful!!! If you are struggling, just go talk to him and see what can be improved. Summary questions, primary source, & quiz are due weekly, but if they are done in time, you should have no problems!
LOTS of reading and LOTS of work. Each week, we were given 5 questions to answer. Each answer had to be answered in full on paragraphs, mine always ended up being 6-8 pages. Weekly quizzes & other assignments. He grades very tough and expects you to know everything about history.. Didn't give us very much to learn from. Just the online book.
Professor Justice teaches history in a way that is super interesting, as he shows a large excitement for it himself. However, there were about 8 pages worth of writing a week mostly from textbook reading questions He was a tough grader on these, but he also dropped the lowest 25% of the weekly assignments to balance out for it.
Overall I loved George Justice. I think he is an amazing professor and really wants his students to learn the material. I absolutely loved his lectures because he tells history like a story. The work he gives is really heavy and he is a tough grader so make sure you write super in-depth about the topic. He also gives lots of extra credit.
Dr. Justice is a very calm and collective person. He is very passionate about history and i respect that about him, but he is not very good with feed back. He is quick to fail you and not give you a clear explanation why. He is also very slow at grading your assignments and getting them back to you. Overall though, Dr. justice is a good man.
I had George Justice last semester, and I cannot describe how wonderful he is. You MUST do work, and if you do it, he will help you succeed. You cant be lazy in his class. I did all of my work well but Im a bad test taker. The test dropped me a good bit but he bumped me to an A because he knew I worked for it. A very kind man, flexible with you.
Dr. Justice was a good teacher! Nice guy! He was always ready and willing to answer any questions I had, or to help in any way. He goes over a lot in class, so I would say that it is vital to be there. His tests aren't extremely hard or extremely easy, do go over notes though. He explains things well and in a interesting way. He's a good teacher!
Prof. Justice was a great lecturer, you can tell he knows a lot and loves what he does. His tests forced me to remake a study pattern and his homework was lengthy, but he is more than willing to help outside of class as long as you put the work in as well.
If you have to take history at UNG, take Dr. Justice! His class requires work, but his lectures are so entertaining and I learned so much from his class. He cares SO MUCH about his students, and he loves the subject he teaches. Came out of the class with an A+. 100% would take him again, and it was probably my favorite class Ive taken at UNG.
DO NOT SKIP HIS CLASS. He takes attendance very seriously. His tests are hard. You will definitely need to put a lot of work into studying. He gives a lot of extra credits so just be in class and do what he wants you to do.
Really really great professor. Lectures are great and his class is overall great. If you come to the lectures and take good notes, it'll be a breeze as it is really a great class. Highly recommend
Hes passionate about history and explains things well. The class itself is pretty average with work being based off the lectures. We had a big essay that he graded pretty tough. I didnt use the textbook, but your class might be different. Make sure to come to class or he will fail you after enough absences. Take good notes.
This is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are not boring at all, and feel much like a story rather than a boring college lecture. He is also great with communication and he gives a ton of extra credit at the end of the semester. Attendance 100% matters. Anymore with than 6 absences and he will fail you. Would recommend!
I really enjoyed this class, especially the way he lectured. It feels like a story time a few days a week. If you have a hard time listening and staying on track this may not be a great class for you but I found it super interesting. He doesn't do any 'small' grades, the only thing in the grade book is tests so your overall grades depend on those.
Loved his class! He is heavy on detail and attendance but he lectures so well it feels more like story time than class. He assigns one book to read that you will write a paper over but he is very lenient with the length and time frame. Attendance is important so you do not miss any details. Wish he taught more classes, would love to take him again
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR. His lectures are so interesting and he always leaves off on a cliffhanger so you genuinely want to come to class and cracks dad jokes. You will have a decent amount of writing and some books to read but if you listen to the lectures and write your notes you'll be perfectly fine.
Mandatory attendance but he is late everyday. Offered extra credit opportunities he did not follow through on
Professor Justice is my favorite professor I had all semester. His lectures are amazing, and you can tell he is truly interested in everything he teaches. Attendence is mandatory, but if you're able to not miss his class, you get 5 points on your final grade, which is very generous. Would definitely take his class again.
Loved him but his test were very difficult. The only grades that count in his class were three test and a paper. The paper wasn't difficult just long. He is very passionate about his job and what he is talking about but gives you a lot of information- sometimes overwhelming.
Dr. Justice is one of my favorite professors ever. His lectures are extremely engaging and are more like story time than anything. The workload of the class is light but the exams do have a lot of weight on your grade but they aren't too hard. If you come to class and take notes you will do really well. I would 100% recommend this course!
Dr. Justice's lectures are amazing, and makes it very easy to remember the information, coming from someone who struggled in high school history. He has 3 tests, which are easy if you pay attention in class, 1 paper based on 1/2 of a book you read, and weekly summaries on the notes you took during class. I would take him again if I could. TAKE HIM!
The way he does his lectures is he tells history like a story which makes his class more interesting. There are weekly assignments of typing 1,200 words in your own words summarizing the notes. There are 2 unit tests and a final. He gives an essay with a rubric involving 2 readings, but you'll have like 2 months to do it. He's awesome! Take him!!!
Dr. Justice is one of the best teachers I have ever had. His lectures were very interesting and felt like story time. He really cares about his students and overall this was a very good class
Overall, he was a great professor, and his lectures were literally like he was telling a story. He takes attendance every day and is very strict about you not being there, so I'd recommend not taking him at 8 a.m. There are only two unit tests, a final, weekly assignments, and reading assignments. It's not as bad as you'd think; he gives you time..
Dr. Justice is one of the best professors I have had during my time in college so far. He is well educated on his area of expertise that is backed by a passion and love for history. I've been lucky enough to register for two different courses taught by him and it has been a pleasure to engage in his classroom everyday and learn something new.
Amazing professor very knowledgeable all around very solid
I like to listen to his lectures. He has two books to read with two essays, notes grades for every chapter, and requires a lockdown browser/camera for tests online. I did not have to take the final since my grade was above 95.
Dr. Justice is amazing, his lectures are like storytime and as long as you pay attention and take notes, the tests are very easy. I took HIST 2112 and there was one book you had to read half of it and write a paper on it, as long as you follow the guidlines its very easy to do well.
He tells his lectures like a story to make it more interesting! There are only 3 tests and 1 paper, but if you pay attention and take good notes they are fairly easy. There is also a weekly assignment.
Amazing lectures, 2 papers on 2 books you have to read. All tests on a lockdown browser, has you type notes in complete sentences for an easy A. Unbiased on all topics he teaches about.
I love this guy. he's so passionate. he doesn't even use a ppt bc he genuinely knows everything he's teaching. like listening to my grandpa tell me bedtime stories. i would take all of his classes if i could. if u don't miss a single class or do all extra credit ur exempt from final and if u do miss class there r no ppts so make sure u know someone
Dr. Justice was amazing! He told his lectures like a story so class was not boring. The tests were fairly easy, everything was in my notes. We did have weekly assignments over books but those weren't difficult and we had plenty of time to do them. Would 100% recommendation Dr. Justice!
Professor Justice is a fantastic teacher. His lectures are great and really interesting, he tells it like a story and it makes the class a lot more fun. Exams are based only on the lectures so you have to take good notes and be in class. The book assignments aren't too bad either, and he's a fair grader. I definitely recommend taking this class!
Professor Justice is an incredible lecturer who makes his lessons feel like storytelling. However, he can be extremely mean. A girl who sat in front of me, who was a bit different, often faced his harshness. Whenever she spoke, he was rude, and once, when she simply stretched, he yelled at her to put her hands down—it felt targeted and humiliating
Great Professor, amazing lectures, but the Bedford Books are stressful and rather unnecessary.
A good professor is you are locked into the class. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU USE CHAT GPT. will fail you from whole class.
I would 100% recommend this teacher to anyone. He gives you a Bedford assignment every week that are around five questions and then the next week a reflection based on the book, not too difficult. There is a lot of reading and writing if you dont like that. If you are struggling in his class I recommend, go to office hours, he is the sweetest man.
