Taking a class with this instructor makes you wonder how he is allowed to continued to teach!
I know accounting's not the most stimulating subject to begin with, but I couldn't have kept my eyes open in his class even if it was.
Heart is in the right place but that's about it. Listening to him is like listening to a mix between Sean Connery and Jerry Lewis. Will help you as long as you put out an effort. This class requires both eyes open at all time!
Even though accounting is not the most interesting subject to begine with, he still makes it very hard and extremely boring. Not recommended, unless you want to waste your money and retake this class. Find another professor to take it with.
Knowing that Accounting can be difficult to begin with added to a teacher that never directly answers a single question makes this class with nearly impossible. I would suggest that unless you can self teach by reading the book that you find another professor!
Study hard, play hard
I had him for Managerial Accounting. It was the one class I have ever fallen asleep during. I could not help it. I did not have the ability to stay awake. He only covers excercises from the book. There is no real-world experience added in his lessons.
Mr. Leonard does a grest job. His exams are exactly what he covers in class. Take his class.
Cool teacher just not a very clear teacher. Hard to follow what he is teaching. If you cannot read the book and learn the lesson that way you will never understand his lessons in class. Does not relate any on the lesson to the real world. Very dry sense of humor - could not stay awake in class.
Man, this guy is pain in the... Our instructor got sick and never came back to teach, so Mr. Leonard take over. Gosh, I had never had a class so boooring in my life! And his sense of humor is just terrible. He does not know anything about computers or latest technology. Time to retire.

Very easy class! I really like him better than Lunsford. Easy tests.
he tells you one thing but expects you to do another. his instructions are unclear. i think he know what he's doing but he doesn't know how to teach you what to do.
He is very nice but so boring... He gives you opportunties to bring your grade up so I can't really complain. You actually have to pay attention and do the assignments, otherwise you will get lost.
This Pro. SUCKS, he was soooooo unclear with everything that he taught. I WOULD NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN OR SUGGEST HIM TO ANYONE... RUN AWAY NOW AND SAVE YOURSELF....
he doesn't know how to teach ... he will do the problems and it will be on the test + some Q that i don't know from were it came ... i syudyed this class back home and I got A ... but with him i got C. don't take with him and class even if he will teach soccer don't take it with him.
Mr. Leonard is a good teacher. He sometimes get of topic. If you pay attention and practice, there is no reason you should fail. Afterall, Accounting is about mastering the procedure. Mr. Leonard is a little boring though
He was all over the place. Not very good at answering questions. He tends to jump around them and not give direct answers. He is helpful if you have extra time to go see him but other than that unless you read the chapters you won't understand him well!!
Read over the handouts, look over the chapter and you'll get it. The test are not easy, but you will learn Accounting.
Ha..If you think he is hard-Accounting is not for you.He is my type of teacher.All he requires is READING HIS HANDOUTS and looking over the book.He wants conceptual understanding from you. Accounting is hard by itself!! His tests could not be easier-direct reflection of homework and class problems (even easier).If you're dumb-don't take him.
My worst experience to date! He doesn’t know how to teach just about says it all! It is a slow painful torture in this class. How do these people get jobs at SPC? If you are in his class read the handouts and study the example problems. This is what’s on the test.
Very boring. Can be difficult to understand. I tried to take him for Managerial also, but he was impossible to comprehend. Tries to be funny, but fails miserably. Tests are easy. He tells you exactly what is on test for financial acct. and just changes the numbers. Managerial tests were impossible.
I enjoy accounting, it is what I do in my career but taking this class was a trainwreck. He assigned one homework problem and we had 2 tests in that time frame. Teaches off another professors handouts and tests doesnt correlate with his teaching or tests. Only teaching done includes sparse notes on the board and reading off a transparency.
Read his handouts? You mean the ones that he didn't even make? This guy is a joke and should not even be allowed near a school! Not funny, boring and only caters to a few students learning abilities.
took him for both financial and managrial. I had no problems with him but I already have accounting exp so I guess if you already have a clue about it he is fine...if you need your hand held take the class with someone else. He does have a dry sense of humour.
I am extremely good in math and thought he was extremely hard! No matter how much you listen in class, or study the handouts, or go through the textbook it doesn't help. He also has no clue when he's grading. He is one of the worst teachers, and the lady that does the tutoring should be the teacher not him!
Don't take Financial Accounting with this professor. He doesn't know how to teach and he is does not explain things well. His humor is so Dry and he is SUPER boring! If you think you are studying the right material for the test you are WRONG! He needs to retire ASAP...If you end up taking him GO TO TUTORING!!!!
I don't know why some people don't like him, but he was nice and very helpfull to me. The tests are the same as problems done in class - sometimes easier. Accounting is more about logic than math. He focuses on practical aspects rather than endless theory of the books. A little boring but he focuses your attention on everything whats important.
He is a good teacher and explains things so the students understand. His tests are pretty straight forward. He lets you drop your lowest grade test. The only downfall is that he keeps you the entire class time - right till the last second.
This class is extremely easy if you show up and pay attention. Mr. Leonard reviews EVERYTHING (in detail) that could appear on the test. It is not difficult to get an "A" if you go to class.
If you show up and take notes you won?t have any problem passing this class. He is straight forward professor I personally liked this class.
Extremely nice, but he isn't good at teaching. I had a 4.0 before this class, but received a "C" from him. Over half of our class dropped before the third week. Extremely boring w/ a dry sense of humor. Ask him a question and he will walk a circle around it, and continue his lecture...without ever answering you. His lectures are almost unbearable!
Easy class if you are willing to show up to class and pay attention. It seems like a lot of students who sruggled with this class are the ones who left at the break or didn't show up at all! Take notes and read the book, you will be fine.
This man should NOT teach!!! Take someone else! Thats all there is to it. If you take leonard, you will know exactly why people said not to.
He is a good professor.Was very helpfull if you come up with a question or in any situation. His tests could not be easier-exastly what's done in class with dif.numbers-he says:"most difficult problems are for class discussion, but who wants to have them on the test?" I don't know how much easier can one go-its the same stuff he does on the board.
Class was utterly boring, keeps you there the entire night, he is difficult to understand, uses an old school overhead projection back from the 80's, the worst professor I have encountered at SPC. Maybe a great accountant but a great teacher he is not.

His voice sounds like Dr.Evil from austin powers!That is just his natural voice.He is very hard to understand,and his had writing is just as bad,and so is the projector.At least,he give chapter outlines and class notes online.ALL OF THE INFORMATION COVERED IN CLASS IS ON HIS TESTS.Haven't taken one yet, but that is what he said.DO NOT MISS class.
Make friends with an accountant!trust me you will rely heavily on a tutor or your accountant friend.I sit in class wondering WTF he is saying then the tutor explains everything clear.Accounting isn't hard just don't take him.FYE,one girl was knitting during class!homework and test questions are the same.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. Got so frustrated with him not answering questions or actually teaching that I dropped the class in total frustration.
This class was a piece of cake! Show up to class, pay attention and take notes. He gives you everything you need to pass. If you can't handle his class maybe you shouldn't be in college!
Overall good teacher! You have question, just ask him. It's a tough class with tough material not necessarily the instructor. He's fair.
This teacher is completely useless. His grading system is inconsistent and his due dates are very inconvenient for a full time employee. He is horrible at explaining the answer to a question. Needs to retire/find a new occupation.
This professor rambles on and on with a dry sense of humor and won't clarify what he's writing on the board or answer any questions. He doesn't even know the name of his students. Taking notes from this teacher is worthless and I've actually learned to dismiss what he's saying and read straight from the textbook! Im doing well now!
Accounting is a difficult subject and you should expect to go to class, pay attention, and study in order to get a good grade! He is a great accounting professor, knows his stuff, and tells you everything you need to earn a good grade. JUST PAY ATTENTION AND GO TO CLASS and you will do fine. If it's still too hard, don't take accounting classes...
You need to go to class, and if you put in the effort and do the extra credit it is an easy A. I thought he was really nice and helped me when I had questions.
Most boringest professor ever. I had him last semester from 6-9:20. Everyone in my class would be asleep. I just taught the subject to myself. He is very nice though and if you have questions he tries to help.

Just finished his 8 week online class. I must say that it was super easy! I learned a lot and the prof. was very helpful if I needed help. I would highly suggest taking the course with Prof Leonard!
Class is in the MYAccounting Lab. Plan on spending a lot of time practicing the study material offered through the website. If all of the study material is completed (Which requires a lot of time). Then the homework and test will be an easy A. Do not take if you don't have at least 6 hours a week to study.
Pretty much everything you read is accurate. He's not funny but at least he tries. He will answer any question you have. This is my 2nd time in this course and compared to Tim Price I'll take Prof. Leonard any day of the week. Good teacher overall great teacher by comparison
One of the best professors I have had of all my classes. The work isn't hard, but you have to do it to understand what you are doing. Class mostly thought through Acct Lab, but hes very good with the communication if you need any help at all. Will take classes with him again! Top of my list.

Uses MyAccountingLab, which has examples. If you practice the homework, you will pass the exams. Final is on website. I recommend this professor.

He is very smart and relates all material to real life situations . You could start a business with what he teaches you.
Quizzes outweigh final exam grade. All assignments on MyAcctLab with multiple chances for HW, and 1 attempt for quizzes. Very fair grading! Highly recommend.
Professor Leonard does a good job of relating accounting to real life situations, and does infuse some comic relief into his classes. The homework and exams are done online using My Accounting Lab, and while it is a lot of work, I found if I gave myself enough time I was able to easily complete. I would take a class with him again.
Excellent professor. Really knows the material and will help you as much as he can. The material is tough and fast-paced but he provides the resources to learn and manage it. Wish there were more professors like him at SPC!
The class was not hard because I did most of the class work on the MyAccountingLabs. The actual lectures were not much help. Be ready to learn on your own. Getting a good grade is still easy.
I don't recommend it but, if you're planning to take Professor Leonards' class, you will need the textbook! Very hard to understand and handwriting is horrible. Class is basically self taught. He mainly uses the chalkboard with some powerpoint slides. Doesn't go over homework problems. All homework & exams online. Still not worth it.
This professor knows the subject however, this class is the most boring one I have ever taken in college, he speaks in a monotone voice and does not really explain things as he goes along unless you stop him to ask and even then, you still may not get what he is trying to convey. I would not take this professor again.
All work is done through online resources, but the instructor is not tech savvy. Lectures are dry and do not match the homework and tests that all grading comes from. Does not respond to emails in a timely manor and is not helpful with course material when asking for assistance.
Be prepared to read, because I taught myself through his entire class for an A. His lectures branch off into newspaper articles about non-accounting stories and often gets derailed by other students. He has no control over his class and less control on how to work the online work. Knowledgeable for sure, but does an awful job at expressing himself.
I am going to be completely honest, this class was so trash I actually stopped coming to class the last like 3 or 4 weeks because I was teaching myself how to do it at home. I was so lost in the class. He would often talk about things that aren't related to the class. Now this class isn't impossible but you gotta be on top of everything. Good luck!
He doesn't require attendance, but does of course require you to do the online homework, and exams which are quite extensive. I strongly suggest just doing the work online, and utilize the "help me solve this.." for the homework, comprehensive problem, and the final exam review (bonus). He's like that Economic's Teacher in Ferris, yeah that movie.

If you are okay with teaching yourself this is a great class for you! Be prepared to sit in a 3 hour class and fight sleep while you try desperately to figure out what he's talking about. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE BOOK! You'll need it!
Ethical Decision Maker! Professor Leonard made an incorrect assumption about me, but it was an honest mistake with good reason. After the decision was made, however, he approached me and apologized for making the assumption and even offered me the opportunity to re-attempt the assignment. His display of integrity made me proud to take his class.
He makes a lot of bad jokes and is very monotone when it comes to everything. He is very knowledgeable about the subject which helps.
I took this class in 8 week express format during coronavirus lockdown. It was absolute hell, Professor Leonard sets the homework to have 1 set of attempts for each question whereas my financial accounting professor had it set to two. If you wanna do well in this class, use the HELP ME SOLVE THIS tool, the Pearson ppt's. I didn't use textbook.
He's very monotone so basically I have to self teach on my own. If you look around the class, students are playing on their phones/laptops and not engaged at all. Class is late Thursday and homework is due that Sunday! Quizzes (due Monday's)are strictly timed and its difficult to stay within the time limitations when I have to self teach.
I took professor Leonard about 13 years ago for the two basic accounting classes. They were challenging, but he got it through to me via the projects and quizzes. I went on to graduate magna cum laude from USF, spent several years in public accounting, passed my CPA exams and today I have a great career in finance. Thank you Mr. Leonard!!!
This is the worst class I have ever taken. The Professor teaches his own way which is not from the book or homework. His way of teaching does not help at all with the quizzes or homework. You are basically teaching yourself how to do the work. The professor tells stories that are not relevant to the class and goes off into his own world.
I took Financial Accounting with Professor Leonard. Professor Leonard's a nice guy, but the way he teaches is confusing. It's hard to follow what he's saying and he teaches from complicated excel spreadsheets. I had to teach myself the lessons after attending class so that I would be able to get an A on the homework and tests in my accountinglab.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. YOU HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF. PROFESSOR IS USELESS AND NO HELP WHAT SO EVER. IF THIS CLASS IS MANDATORY, FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
