This is one of the most enthusiastic professor's I've ever met. It's about time.
The guy hated everything i said, and is very hard, but knowledgable and helpful
He's extremely interesting, but he is TOO LOUD
single handedly killed my interest in angels

A little long winded

He let us prepare the answers to test questions before the test!
Marshall is a hard prof. but he knows his stuff, and class is interesting.
He is very enthusiastic and enjoys teaching.
Best prof I ever had. Not easy, but I guess that means I learned something.

Be prepared to work your butt off! It's worth it.

Awesome..the best for logic...good examples..enjoys his work
Hard but great teacher. Learned a lot.
If your prepared to work he'll bend over backwards to help you
states at the beg. of class "about 20% of you will fail" (cause he can't teach)

If people can't succeed in this class it's definitely due to them, not him!
Excellent prof--intimidating but passionate and VERY logical. Recommended.
He's awesome. He'll give you extra marks if you are willing to work for them.
doesn't mark essays very well. mine were good, but he gave me a bad mark!
He`s SO entertaining! Difficult to fall asleep in this class!
Very good teacher. Really works hard at teaching.
Very helpful. Made the class interesting. Too bad the assignments were long.
Demanding but he puts a lot into the course and there is a lot to get out of it.

Great prof and very approachable.
Very good prof
Great class!
Makes you work hard but worth all the effort.
really hard class, gives you bad grades if you disagree with him
Way too fast & not clear at all!!
he's so passionate your scared he'll have a heart attack
Very interesting but hard

Requires lots of work but well worth it.
Annoying...contradicts himself often and confuses students more than helping them by always answering the wrong question and making answers unclear... breaks chalk too much...
Very good but requiring a lot of work.
Makes the history of philosophy come alive. Knows his stuff.
He really does keep you entertained in the morning, but I find that he talks about what he's going to teach, rather then actually teaching it.
HE'S LOUD AND AGGRESSIVE AND NOT VERY FRIENDLY. DON'T SIT CLOSE TO THE FRONT BECAUSE HE SPITS A LOT AND HE GETS RIGHT IN YOUR FACE.
Horrible Prof! I would never take a class from him if someone paid me! He made it very clear about what he was going to teach but never really ended up doing so.
what a joke!

Shouts like crazy and is very intimidating. You have to work a lot to get decent marks.
Good experience!
Great Class. Oppens a whole new way of looking at philosophy and doing. Really worth taking.
Never take a class from him. He is a horrible prof. Nothing is explained well. He just expects that if he understands it then everyone should understand it. I have never had a prof as bad as him before.
Never take a class from him. I have never had such a horrible experience as this. Everyone be warned, this will be a hard class and it's not worth the trouble.
This is an easy class. As long as you read the chapters you are supposed to, when you are supposed to, you'll do fine. He doesn't even tackle first order predicate logic or the like, and what he does teach is explained very clearly. If you think this is hard, try taking it from Korte.
It was an interesting class and I felt I learned alot. He was entertaining enough to keep me intrested in the mornings. However I wouldn't recommend this as an elective as it requires ALOT of work and is quite difficult.
The man is red and shakes like he is experiencing tremors. I didn't like it, but he's pretty harmless. I think I went to less than half my classes ad passed with a 58.
First few classes are intimidating, but you learn to love his lectures. He'll keep you awake in the morning and makes things really clear. Makes the knowledge that you gain applicable to all areas of life. Easy to talk to and is willing to help you anytime.
Great class. Make sure you do your assignments every single class and you will do fine.
No doubt that he is a good prof. but the most horrible thing abt him is that he expects guys to know everythng before class.Goes very fast in class, difficult to match pace. This prof should not be taken for Logic 100 coz the book which he uses is the worst one...the paperback copy of some book and it makes students more confused.
Basically, if you keep up with the assignments (like he says) you should do reasonably well in class. For those who have done the work, his explanations are very clear and he's pretty damn hilarious. He made me actually like Logic.
One of the best teachers I have had so far, and there aren't very many...
good class, good prof. very entertaining and animated. :] CRUSTURRRRSHINS lol.
Haha someone should definately explain to him that there is only one 'R' in the word crustacean. If you do the readings every class it's pretty much impossible to not understand what's happening and fail... and yet half of the class still manages to anyway?
George Marshall. What can i say about him? He's a good professor and if you have a problem he's really nice. Don't sit in the very front, he tends to bug those people more. he looks like colonel sanders in a really awesome way.
How can't you love this guy? By the end of each lecture he'd be red-faced and exhausted, after having shouted at the top of his lungs and jumping around at the front of the room for an hour, trying to teach clueless kids all about logics. A great teacher to make a first-year feel good about the U of R.
One of the most insightful philosophy teachers at the U of R (and that is saying a lot). Intimidating at first, and demands excellence, but you quickly find that he really wants his students to understand the material, but also to formulate their own opinions. I find that he is a pretty generous grader. Very animated and funny too. Great teacher
Very good class, no midterm. about 6 tests spaced throughout the semester and a final. overall content was easy, and he was very helpful whenever you needed help. Final was difficult and the ending class average was about a 62%. so a little bit low, but if you work hard and want a good mark, you will get one. Awsome prof!!!
THis guy thinks that because he is yelling he is a good lecturer. This isn't true. He is hard to listen to, would be better in a lecture hall...or a gymnasium. The other thing is that when you write the test if you interpret something different than he does it is immediately wrong...which isn't fair. Unless you are a true keener avoid this guy!
Great prof. Everything seems exciting, and a prof that can make Aquinas seem exciting knows his stuff. I highly recommend this prof for anyone interested in taking a philosophy class.
He tends to speak very loudly, almost yelling, but a really good prof, he really makes sure everything is understood. Tests make up 60% of the mark so the bulk isn't on the final which is great.
Wow, if its your first philosophy class I recommened not taking him, thats where I made my mistake. If you like philosophy and have taken classes befor however I think you could enjoy it!
worst professor ive ever had. his lectures have almost nothing to do with the test material. He is never open for discussion he just talks the whole time, its impossible to learn anything. There is no choice on his exams, you have to do the questions he picks.
He's absolutely terrific! You have to attend class if you want a good grade. Also, he's always willing to help if you don't understand. His exams are straight-forward, no trick questions. Wish he taught more classes.
Great for Logic 100.
Awesome! He is so passionate, so his class is interesting (even at 830am)! Sometimes he screws up words so you kinda have to know what he's talking about to follow along, but it's only cause he talks so fast! Gives practice tests which are 90% identical to the real thing. Study the practice tests and you should do well. I love logic now!!
This prof is incredible. He loves what he is teaching and makes you love it too. VERY easy to understand and he will go through things step-by-step with you if you dont understand. Take any class with this prof that you can, you won't be dissapointed. Crustuuurrrrrrseans ftw.
He is a super good prof. I found that when I read the text, I had a hard time understanding it, but as soon as he explained it the next day, it was so much easier to comprehend. He gives excellent practice tests, with answers, AND EXPLANATIONS, so you actually know what you did wrong and can learn from it. I'd take a class from him again for sure.
quite entertaining to watch and helpful.
Great teacher, Good enthusiasm and engages students very well. However, if you are looking to take logic for the first time look for another professor. The only marks in the whole class are from Tests. Some sections of exams do not relate to class material and thus your mark on the exams is not related to your knowledge of the subject matter.
Horrible, horrible prof. He taught in the most roundabout way that wasn't helpful at all. I never left his office without crying because he made me feel like a failure because I didn't understand what he was teaching.
very enthusastic
I am sorry, but the truth has to come out sometime. Mr. Marshall may be the most apathetic professor at this institution. No WebCT, he never even goes over the exams. A question is wrong only because he thinks it is, or because he doesn't like your notation even though its 100% correct. The exams are like a lottery, you don't win. EVER. AVOID!
Good Proff. Awsome practice tests that are pretty much identical. Reading the text, doing the exercises and coming to class helps 100%. 6 quizes and final. Not bad.
Oh, George. He is a genuinely kind and funny man. I am on the fence with him. On the one hand, he hands out practice tests which help a lot. However, besides the aspects of logic that are black or white, he is very narrow minded with any perception questions. His final was the wordiest, trickiest thing ever. But if you like logic you will succeed.
Pretty decent class. The overall class average after the final exam was a 65..apparently that is pretty high for a logic class. It is a lotttt easier than having to take math, I would recommend this class
If you go to class and attempt to do all of the exercises, you will do well. Most people like myself tended to stop doing exercises and homework which really hurt the marks. Although, after screwing up intructions on test #5 and getting a 65%...I went to his office and showed him I knew what i was doing and he gave me a 95% !!! pretty sweet
Wost prof ever... He is a biased, rude old man who has no idea how to TEACH. All he can do is scream his beliefs at you, as if that is an argument. He has either lost his mind, or never had it. Do not take a course form this man. Marks are based on how closely you agree with him, nothing else. Tests are AWFUL!
He is a fun person but when it comes to teaching and marking. it doesn't matter how good you do if its not as he thinks its false and you will end up failing the class or low grade if your lucky. . !!!NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
Awesome prof!! Hilarilous! and extremely nice. His lectures are interesting, funny, and really help in understanding the material. So helpful and always available, his office hours are everyday of the week. He also gives practice texts for each exam, which sometimes mirror the exams. Highly recommend!
He has a way of making an otherwise dry and boring class interesting due to his lecturing style and funny/interesting stories. Some people are intimidated because he speaks in a loud voice when lecturing, but is very personable if you speak to him outside of class. Is a fair marker who is open to challenges, if you can back up your argument properly
Rarely addressed the content of the work we were studying. Instead, he drifted from concept to concept (sometimes spanning thousands of years of philosophical thought) with no reason. Any divergence from what he said in class (which was hard enough to decipher) would drop your grade by 20-30% easily.
LOVED THIS PROF! I went to him a couple of times for help and will gladly walk you through anything your having difficulty with. As long as you keep up with the exercises, have a good understanding of the material, and value the PRACTICE TESTS(!!!) this course is a piece of cake with Marshall.
Loved this prof! one of the more organized professors i've had. Gives a practice test before every test - not hard to pass at all if you do the work - go to class it helps.
Loved him! So helpful, great lectures, easy to understand, and knows how to word everything so that it makes sense! Would definitely recommend him to anyone taking this class.
The worst educator of any kind I have ever had. Most of the class consisted of him yelling out (literally) his own views and denouncing the students who didn't get good marks, which usually just meant they did not regurgitate his points. He openly prides himself on failing people, and writes personal attacks on students' papers.
