You will learn a lot from this man's class. He is the male version of Jennifer Haber. Loves Tennessee Williams and strongly dislikes poetry. I strongly recommend this class for students who don't like english, but who are willing to learn to appreciate it
Bascially a good teacher, he is sometimes not very organized. If you write your papers long and boring, he likes that! Follow his suggestions on exactly how he wants the papers written and you will get a better grade.
Mitsis is quite a character. Overall, an easy class if you write the apprpriate length and make sure you write the paper exactly how he tells you to write it through his example essays. Just follow those to egual an easy A.
I took him for Comp I and got an A w/o even trying, then in Comp II I had to actually try, but not too hard. I got A's on all my papers in Comp I and A's and B's in Comp II. He is usually late to class and will take your papers all the way to the end and still give full credit. VERY Easy class.
Horrible class. He is a nice guy, but not a good teacher. I enjoy english and usually do well. Not here! He does everything late and when you ask to improve all he says is "make it longer". I wish I had taken Johnson for Comp 2 is is a wonderful teacher!
Easy class awful teacher. Very unorganized. Did all my work on time but he still accepted work at end of semester and gave full credit. VERY FRUSTRATING. All you do is watch movies. Hardly discusses plays and then tests you on them. Response papers impossible to get an A on unless you agree w/him
I had Mitsis for CompI and CompII. He is very unorganized. He lost more than one of my papers both semesters and acted like I lied about turning it in. He's an ok guy. He's such a nerd! You'd think he'd be more organized. It takes forever to get papers back so you never know what you're doing wrong
Very boring, not enough help. Doesn't give enough student learning tools to further your education in class. ie: quizzes, homework study guides, go by the book, use the book.
Dr. Mitsis does an excellent job when it comes to teaching Composition I. I'm not a strong writer so the fact that goes above and beyond in terms of teaching is a plus. The class itself isn't too difficult if you put your mind to it and don't give up. He's witty and makes you enjoy being there even when you don't want to be there.
Good instructor.Taught me how to write a paper without intimidating me.Very clear and nice.I like his class and I don't like writing.
Boring class. Dr. Mitsis is a nice, wise man, but somehow he cannot share his knowlegde with students. If you have perfect MLA style in your papers and answers for his questions you'll got A.
I found this class slow to start, but as time went on and we began discussing things this class was stimulating and fun. I found Dr. Mitsis a plethora of information just waiting to share it with anyone who wanted to know.
AWESOME CLASS!
Worst teacher I have ever dealt with.Very unclear about all assaignments. Never hands work back on time and is just a bad teacher in general.
He sucks at teaching but his Final exam are so easy and the writing is so easy....The worst grade i got with him was a B.
Very unclear about what he wants in a paper..but once you get the first paper back it is smooth sailing from there. Very nice teacher and easy to get along with. I recomend him..and I will take him again for comp 2
worst teacher ever!! his class is so boring that you just want to sleep during class, his response papers are easy but the research paper kills you because he takes all the good topics away just because he's tired of reading them therefore i wasn't interested in my topic and got a D in the paper, will not recommend to anyone, I hear Johnson is good
Does not provide much feedback and does not actually help to improve writing. Otherwise very easy class because tests and writing assignments are easy. If you want an A, talk to him because hardly anyone does. If you become friendly with him you will outscore everyone else sadly enough.

Nice man that could someday become a great professor if he takes advantage of the opportunity to encourage and assist students in excelling in this first phase of college writing.
Take him for Comp I, but DO NOT take him for Comp II. Hes is an idiot. Your seriously will have a paper due everytime you come to class.
good guy, smart, reasonible
He is a great professor that will make you earn your grade. Work hard on your papers, don't leave them til the last minute and you will be fine. Great personality, and he's funny as hell. Participate in class, he wants to know you understand what is going on.His tests are cake, just study what he tells you too and you will be fine.

I love how everyone wants to come down on him because he teaches a gordon rule class. C'mon people, he is a great instructor, and he at least makes the required word count crap interesting and fun to do. I hate writing, but he made me enjoy it. I would definitely take him again if I had the opportunity to. Take him if you can. Participate in class!
I liked him. He was tough in the beginning but, was easy in the end when I had other projects due. I would take him again. Just go in prepared and do the work he asks. No big deal!
I didn't enjoy his choice of plays that we had to read. They were all very dark and perverse. I found this class to be easy, but boring and not what I expected.
learned alot. took a while to get use to him, but then I enjoyed everything, except for The Cask of Amantanado, ughhhh.
good professor overall
While he is a pretty good teacher. He sometimes gets behind and doesn't know whats going on. He is very easy for Comp 1. Comp 2 is still pretty easy, but you have to watch some videos and write some papers. There are "Response Papers & Quizes" almost every week. Its not to bad.
He is an ok guy and an ok professor. The work is quite easy and the class is pretty uneventful. He covers his material well and is understanding to student needs.
Can't even keep straight what he needs to have the class do. He'll tell you to follow the syllabus for the first half of the semester, then change course when he realizes he's behind. The students have to catch up to his schedule. Fun guy to learn from if you don't need the grade or headaches, but otherwise not worth the $200.
The worst professor I have had so far. This guy has a PHD & yet he has literally taught us nothing. Each day it is the same thing, read a professional essay & write an essay on it. You literally need to write like an idiot/an 8th grader to receive proper credit for what you wrote. You need to dumb yourself down in order to get a good grade.
Really easy, just write the response papers for the short stories he makes you to read. I get out of class early whenever I'm done with whatever we are doing that day. He's a little different, if you actually want to learn something do NOT take this class. I'm signing up for comp II with him :]
He is an extrememly easy teacher but you really don't learn much. He has you write response papers in groups based on the readings and movies that you watch. You have one response paper that you have to do yourself and unless you get MLA format absolutely perfect you will get a bad grade! Other than that the group work and response papers are ea
Took him for both comp 1 and comp 2, his comp 2 class is a joke. All we did was watch movies the entire semester, but hey i can't complain about that. His class has the work load of a 5th grade special ed class. Very Very Easy, bring some popcorn and enjoy the show. Comp 2 with Mitsis is an easy A, his comp 1 class was still easy but no movies.
Easy A just do the work, everything is on power point, so its a taech yourself kinda deal.
This class is group participation on all papers except one. The class participation can be good if everyone participates. Papers are based off the in class movies/stories so attendance is a must! I found myself doing most of the work. Weekly multiple choice quizzes can be easy A if you read the stories.

you would have to be the worlds laziest, stupidest, and slowest person to not exceed in this class. Mitsis is funny, available for questioning, and really we don't have much work at all. Group work often, computer lab excercises, and grammar stuff for the rest of the semester. EASY A
got an A on every paper.... had 3 group response papers and 4 papers to do on our own. had 2 essay papers which had to be 5 pages each but wasn't bad because we had such a long period to do it. the end of the semester we just go to the computer lab and work on grammar exercises. this class was enjoyable because my friends were in it.
dont forget to read the stories before class and you'll get an A. the only reason i got a b was because one idiot in my group wrote one of the response papers too short (which is hard to do since only 2 double spaced pages is required) so the whole group got the F on that paper that he wrote.
This entire class was based on group work. This is a very unfair way to run class, as most groups had someone not doing their share of the work. NOT a good teacher, he kind of stares at you when you ask a question and doesn't really take the time to answer. Waste of time class. Take him for ENC 1101, but not ENC 1102.
make sure you read the stories and you will be fine. very nice guy, but strange teacher. dont annoy him and he leaves you alone. also, speak up if someone in your group is not participating and he will fix the problem.
easiest comp teacher i've ever taken. as long as you read the stories your good to go. the class consists of mostly group work so make sure that everyone does there share. hes an easy grader and usually pretty fair too! I took him for both comp 1 and 2 and passed both with a high a.
I found him pleasant and easy to talk to. He is a little on the strange side but that only gives him character. Sometimes the students are worse than the teacher, he tries to makes jokes to ease the class but there may be lots of people that have terrible dispositions. I will be taking him again in the fall.
not a helpfull teacher what so ever does not care about his students, and does not try to help you. I do not recommend taking him and frankly he should not be a teacher he has no interest in his students or the fact that they are learning nothing! He does not care to learn your name or if you have a question. horrible class.
DO NOT take this teacher, he cares nothing about the students and what they learn. you learn nothing in class to futher your education, he speaks in a manner that is hard to comprehend and he does not realte to anything which makes it hard to listen and learn. very spaced out and weird also unorganized. do not take him
Dr. Mitsis is an awesome Prof. So far we have watched three movies in class and have gotten to read some interesting stories. There is a lot of group work so as long as everyone does the work and shows up for class you will do really well. He is really helpful, and if you have a question for him he will glady answer it either during or after class.
The hardest thing about the class isn't his teaching, but rather getting to groups to work. He is a bit odd, but he is easy to approach if you have any questions. He obviously loves what he teaches. He may not always know your name, but if you answer questions and participate in class he will get to know who you are.
I have Dr. Mitsis now for comp 1 & I this is the worst class I have due to the fact of the teacher. I use the word teacher loosly because he has not taught one thing. I have learned nothing in his class. He still does not know one person in my class name. He does not care about his students or their grades. DO NOT TAKE ! If you do, you will regret.
as long as you show up to class and do all your work, you wont have a problem. you always work in groups. Its not a hard course, but for the essays i suggest going to the information commons to get them checked before you turn them in. he is a bit weird, and i hated asking him questions. best thing to do is stay out of his way and do your work.
He's very nice and understanding, when you couldn't turn something in or was not in class and you had a legitamite reason he will understand and give you chances. Mainly group work in the begining and three essays last 1 is to pick an essay you did and put in MLA format so very easy. Just wished he would've taught how to do things. Final easy test.
He was an excellent teacher. As long as you do what you're told you will be fine in this class. I would highly recommend taking this teacher. I plan on taking him for ENC 1102. The people who said he wasn't a good teacher are completely off and probably failed his class, because of their failure to complete class assignments.
Mitsis is awesome! You do need to do the work AND be able to make sense in essays. The only people who didn't do well were morons that couldn't put 2 sentences together.
classs was usueless. show up to class he takes attendance or have someone sign you in. so annoying looks like an ugly version of dwight from the office but not funny. acts like strange and FOLLOW MLA format! = ) take if you like an easy class but you will learn nothing.
Just do the work and you should do fine. Also be sure to read the stories. Pretty good amount of group work. Very strict with MLA. Easy class.
Probably the easiest class I have taken in college & I am about to graduate. As long as you read the stories & participate in class sometimes there is no reason you shouldn't get an A. Attendance is important to him so he takes roll at the end of the class. 1 speech & 1 research paper. Didn't like the group work b/c my team was full of slackers.
really simple wants stuff done his way, read the story and do his critical thinking paper every class for 18 weeks and its over. no text book which was awesome
Literally worst class ever. We'd go in get into our groups then leave. Wed be there or 10 mins at most. It was pointless.
I don't know why people are complaining. Mitsis is an easy professor, take him if you want to get an A. So what if he doesn't teach much. Just think of this class as a gpa boost. I would highly recommend him if you do not want to have long nights of writing papers. There is only one major essay and its really easy.
Terrible Teacher! He kept the class busy with aimless, repedative work, but did little to explain, or engage his students. I learned nothing what so ever about english and had trouble getting a good grade.
you never know who he is looking at or talking to. Doesn't read papers, just acts like he grades them.
Do the work and show up to class! This is college people!
Comp II with Dr. Mitsis was definitely a class I was never concerned about; the work is done pretty much entirely in class, except some minor reading which I ususally did 20 minutes before class. It is the same exact format for the questions and reflection for every single story and while it may be repetitive, it's an easy class.
You will be stuck writing and writing and writing and writing but most f the time you don't need to be there and as long as you do the essays you can pass the class.
Very easy course and lenient professor, however I didn't learn anything useful. There were a few essays and 18 response papers that were graded and a huge portion of your grade relies on the group response papers. Sometimes I didn't feel the motivation to actually show up to class. Take it if you want a free "A".
Took comp 2 class, haven't done any assignments to practice writing. We've only read stories and done analyses on the characters. It's the same assignment every week and I haven't learned anything pertaining to the course. I wouldn't take this if you want a real composition class.
Literally don't take this guy online unless you want to have no life when it comes to his work. The work is the same stuff every week but just for a different short story. It's so terrible and repetitive. One assignment we had to do came out to like 7,000 words and nearly 20 pages. I usually just read the stuff on here and never post, but I had to
Take Mitsis for 1101 if you want an easy A, all you have to do is show up for class with an individual response to an article or story he gives you. It takes like 30 minutes to do once you get the hang of it. All you do in class is the group responses. There are 3 essays, make sure you write a lot and citations are correct.
Great teacher. Some may say not easy and others may say they were not motivated to read his assignments. Well, hate to say this but get motivated. It's college, your future. The work isn't easy, but it is most definitely not hard, I can guarantee you that. Do the work and you'll do great :)
This guy is weird and his class is horribly boring. Even when you're done he'll make you sit and stare at the ceiling until the end of class because he doesn't take attendance until the very end. He's not that nice or friendly but it is an easy A. No textbook either.
He absolutely overloads you with repetitive, page long, response papers, due the night before almost every class meeting. He doesn't really teach anything, he just assigns you these response papers and sits at his desk doing nothing. He seems lazy, and doesn't seem to care about you. He offers no sympathy to students, despite his own laziness. BAD
This is literally the worst college experience I've ever had. He is so awful I want to cry. Gives out C's for everything. Even A work. Emailing back and forth is like talking to an automated service-no answers. Basically if I knew the hell I was signing myself up for I would have waited another semester to take this class with a different professor
He gives a lot of readings, but you can skim over them really quickly or have them in front of you while you take the quizzes. DO NOT BUY ANY OF THE BOOKS. You can find them all online for free with a quick google search.
It is 100% online work. You get to class and sit at a computer. Mainly individual work like reading passages or watching plays and then taking online quizzes on them. SUPER EASY "A". You do not need the book since it is all online and easy to find. Few group projects that are easy. Lets anyone leave class early.
Took his class online currently very work heavy, but not hard. I feel he doesn't throughly read your work and gives you the broad comments to other students as feed back. Generally a very easy class to understand. You don't need the text book because he provides all the short stories and plays on his online class, so that will save you $100
I actually really enjoyed this class this summer. The only reason I would classify as a lot of reading and a lot of papers is because it is a short summer class so he has to cram- but I believe it's pretty reasonable. The essays are only two pages double-spaced so if you can't do that then I don't know what to say. Just DO THE WORK and get an A.
I took Professor Mitsis for an online Greek Mythology course - super creative curriculum. He makes learning very fun.
I wouldn't recommend this teacher if you are looking for feed back on your grade or active communication he basically ignored an email I sent. He knit picks discussion posts and will give a c for restating the answer in your question to meet the word requirement on a very vague prompt that only takes 2 sentences to answer. readings not to exciting.
Dr. Mitsis was great! I had him for Comp 2 in class. In the middle of the semester, all classes had to switch to online due to the coronavirus. With the way he set up the course, it was a smooth transition. If you're taking him in class, work and get ahead. There are lots of discussion posts with a clear rubric. It's hard to get it done in class.
Professor Mitsis was easily accessable throughout the semester, and a fair grader. I have taken many online courses before, but this had the easiest access and layout. I had no trouble finding things and did not have to endlessly search for them. Although the course has a lot of work, it is spaced out and not overwhelming!
It is not exactly "an easy A", but his rubric is as clear as day. His class is based on points - not percentages- do the assignments on time (quizzes, discussion posts, essays) and you will be golden. Replies within 2-3 days. Provides additional resources to your benefit. Would definitely take him again. He also provides the textbook so don' buy it
This is a composition class and therefore is heavy on writing and reading. However, Professor Mitsis gives very clear instructions, and provided all the reading assignments so that a textbook was not needed. The gadeing criteria was very clear and concise. If you do the work as instructed there is no way to fail.
I had Dr. Mitsis for Comp. 2, and his quizzes, discussions and essays were easy. He's not a tough grader. His rubrics were straightforward. He was passionate about most of the literary works covered in class and enjoyed having discussions about them. In saying that, only about a third of the class participated. If you participate you'll be fine.
This class was not too bad to take. While some of it seemed odd to me, Dr. Mitsis has made this class very student friendly. He responds to email and questions quickly. His grading criteria is easy to understand. I would probably take a class with him again. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED FOR THE TEXTBOOK. DO NOT BUY IT!
Professor Mitsis is a very caring and fun professor. In my opinion his class was very easy. Every week I had a discussion post and a quiz from either a short story or play. His live onlines are really great, he makes it feel like you are in a classroom instead of online. He is a very fair grader. I loved professor Mitsis!!
If you're looking for an easy A, this professor would be right for you. Although, I would not retake him. He scores based on the pointing system. There are no extra credit possibilities or chances to improve your grade or even submit a late assignment with a penalty. No required book, but the material is BORING, the feedback is genetic, just ugh.
He is just not caring. Basically you just send all the work online and that is it. He did not provide feedback for each one of us. Just used to say good job everyone who submitted lol.
If you would like a professor who is not a heavy reader and is very lenient for grading, then Dr. M is for you. His class was not so difficult besides the very out dated sources and plays that are in the classes content. Although if you sent him an email unless it was covid related, he wouldn't actually read your email or answer your questions.
I personally enjoyed the class, as it provided films and short stories that were interesting. The rubric was clear, and understandable; if followed you will do good. A-lot of discussion boards and quizzes, some questions a bit tricky. The class was overall good, and enjoyable.
Mitsis is a great professor and I would highly recommend you take him if you get the chance! It was a typical online class with a discussion post and quiz due every week, but everything is super easy as long as you take a few minutes to read the lessons!
This class started out great but towards the end he started giving me "I"s and "F"s. I work EXTREMELY hard on EVERY single assignment. This was my feedback- "Please provide your opinion to these questions!! I can look up the databases myself." If I knew he wanted my opinion, I would have written my opinion. VERY RUDE! He made me hate this class!!!!
Easy going
Mitsis is a good guy, but his COMP1 class has no teaching at all, it is just discussion posts and 2 essays. His class is just you sitting at a computer doing whatever you want. Not going to class really isn't a big deal. You can do everything ahead of time, and it is a really easy A+. You have to be lazy to get lower than an A. Should be online imo
This class was great! I was nervous and expecting lots of essays and heavy assignments but that wasn't the case. Assignments are due on Mondays which helps A LOT and were fun and interesting. The only big thing is the last few big assignements, Got a B and didn't do about 4+ assignments for the class due to being a sahm and juggling classes.
Prof Mitsis is so sweet and the opposite of a tough grader. Just do your assignments on time. Attendence is not mandatory at all
So far the professor seems good online, get ready to have alot of reading involved and assignments are due ahead of time but you can't send late work, there was an average of 4 assignments due in a day but you should be fine if you do everything ahead of time, alot of reading but overall okay.
