One of the worst profs I've had so far! Nice guy, but teaches sooooo fast and his tests and exams are EXTREMELY hard, even if you do all the textbook exercises you still won't know how to do his tests.
Excellent professor. Very hard mid term and final exam. Very fair. Very reasonable. Excellent at going through stuff in accounting. Uses his own experience to explain concepts.
Very hard exams and midterms even if you done all of the textbook exercises. Extremely difficult to prepare for his tests.

If you get this professor all I can say is GOOD LUCK because your going to need it. Don't expect an 80 in this course. Killer MIDTERM AND FINAL. Even if you get a past exam it won't help. If its possible get another professor because any other professor would be better than him.
i think all the exams were fair. not hard at all. he's a good prof and delivers the material in a well organized lecture.
WORST POSSIBLE TEACHER in history. He is not creative at all with his slides. He is very rude, and his teaching methods are very unclear. He also has extremely unfair mid-terms which doesnt come anywhere close to the difficulty of the material taught in class. He talks WAY too much about his other job at YAHOO!!!!!!
Ok, we pay 9k a year. We are not interested on your DUMB Yahoo life. You are suppose to teach accounting and that's it. Your Yahoo LIFE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF. He is also BIAS, not helpful. WORST Professor you can get from UTSC MANAGEMENT.
the most enthuastic prof ever =) extremely clear in his lectures and sooooo very approachable and easy to talk to. we could benefit from more pratice questions, but this prof is so nice. if you ever need help, he's always willing.
Hes a fair prof. If u do the required questions, you'll do fine. He's also there to help you. Only thing is his fondness of slides. Pure theory prof.
He's a great guy if you take the time to really talk to him and ask him questions. He really takes in feedback from the students and uses them to help prepare us for the exam. So passionate about Accounting. Accounting is not an easy course, generally and I think he does an amazing job trying to make things easier.
His teaching style does not accomdate all types of learners. his slides dont help tactile learners who learn by doing problems. he just lectures the theory. does too little problems in class. can use visual aids to help explain hard concepts. hard exams. ta's make mistakes when marking midterms.and he talks a lot about yahoo and his stupid bmw.
Although His exam is a little bit harder than most, he is a very good professor. Very insightful, work hard enuf you should be able to get a decent mark. Although you should highlight HARD ENOUGH =p
Very good prof, lots of great examples to back up the content. Yes exams/tests are trickier than average, but hard work and doing readings ahead of time are the key. The real world of business does not come from a textbook, you know. Got my 4.0 in the course (although my mark did drop 4 pct after the brutal exam), so all is good!
took mgtb05/06 with him. i think he is a great prof, and i completely disagree with those who say he is all about theory. he provides a lot of good examples and problems that prepare you well for the final. very organized. do all the problems he tells you to do and you'll be fine! with this prof, you'll be ahead of everyone
took b05 and b03 with him. he moves really fast, expects u to know everything before lectures. but overall a great prof, really nice and easy to talk to
My friend here likes him
good prof, but very theory based, goes through examples too quick, teaches theory but not really hands on. good prof, but i prefer hands on help with examples. very friendly, always willing to help answer questions.
He's a really nice, friendly guy. I can tell he tries really hard and puts a lot of effort into his classes. I do think he goes unnecessarily fast. He focuses too much on theory and not enough on problem solving. This course was extremely hard for me, the exam was incredibly hard. I don't think I was at any advantage by being in this class.
Best Accounting Prof Ever! He does have hard exams but lecture examples prepare you. If you try questions on your own and 'mix it up' like the examples he gives you, you should be ok. Office hours are very reliable and beneficial if you're prepared with practise and questions.
One of the stars among the profs in UTSC's management program. Provides past exams and assignments with solutions for your review. His lectures are also kept interesting with his personal examples. Also helpful and friendly during his office hours should you decide to visit him. Though he is a little cranky when you catch him in a bad mood.
Don't fall behind! He goes way too fast. If you're not right there with him you'll be completely lost. He goes through examples and problems way too quickly. Other than that he's a pretty good prof. Explains things clearly and concisely. Very hard final and midterm though.
Great prof :) Goes really fast, but if you do what he says- read text before/after class and do the extra examples- you should do fine. Provides past exam questions, which is really helpful. Entertaining to watch and very helpful.
Good =)
He goes way too fast. Says things that aren't even on the exam. Exams are extremely hard. Gives us easy examples and expects us to do complicated ones on the final.
HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO TEACH, DAGA IS MUCH BETTER WORST PROFF IN MANAGEMENT
Best Prof in management by far. Had Daga for a few classes and dropped her to take the course with Quan Fun. His exams are hard, but only if you didn't do any prep work. Tip: If he ever gives you a workbook for the coures, know those questions 100% and you will do well.
Explains stuff in great detail, gives lots of practice questions! If your study, you CAN do well in his course. His exams are tough though, but fair.
Great Prof. His classes are hard, but thats how the world is. If you are going through for accounting, the CA process is hard, get used to it. He is by far the best prof in management at UTSC and will help prepare you better then anyone else. Pay attention, you will learn alot from him. Lifes hard, either work or go home.
His questions requires a lot of thinking, you just need to get used to his style then its do-able. do LOTS of practice you should be okay
He is one of the best professors, in terms of preparation, care for students, teaching style, and passion. However, his exams are somewhat overly difficult. Class averages are usually a full grade lower then most courses.
This prof is pretty nice and he's definetly better than chen. Exams tend to be difficult for most however.
Really a university professor and lifetime teacher + friend. You will never forgive to listen to him about anything I mean not only Accounting....Greatly Cute & Fun
Very interesting prof! Exams are hard. The key is to attend class, pay attention to everything he says, do lots of practice questions. I find it really helpful to do the additional questions before class starts
Good prof, exams are difficult but thats life. If you are doing D50, you are likely going through for your CA, which have much harder exams. If you cant handle his exams, you probably shouldn't be trying to obtain a designation and should do something easy.
Examples done in class and tutorial questions are useless..pulls out extremely hard exams designed to make students fail. the goal should be to challenge students but not make the whole evaluation outstandingly difficult. people cry after these accounting exams, this prof REALLY needs to loosen up and slow down. QF NEEDS TO TEAch better.
Told us in class, our work is about 3/10 difficulty, and the exam will be 8/10. He was right, and quite honestly there was no way to be prepared for it. He will tell you "think critically" but in reality there is nothing you can do on the exam other than fail. i understand concepts, and with my midterm i had around a 75, dropped to 50
He is nice and fun sometimes..but he moves really fast..you should do his questions first and then listern to the lec..the midterm is hard..final is ok..don't except too much..accounting in UTSC is HARD
Good prof. HARD EXAMS
This professor makes you hate accounting!! He's so hard compared to other profs and makes exams extremely difficult. And the additional questions he gives that are supposed to help you prepare for the final exam ...are no match trust me! Had him for MGTBO3, MGTBO5, MGTB06...fml
Professor Quan Fun is a professor who takes pride in his teaching, is concerned about his students, and hopes that his students do well. He's a really good accounting prof. if people wrote bad comments about him its because they just didn't pay enough attention ; he will truly inspire you to look into accounting...but his exams are challenging.
Its hard to describe this professor. He talks to me as if he is talking to someone with lower intellectual. he lacks self control and needs to stop confusing students while teaching. he bombards you with work and doesnt give us time to digest the material. in sum, this class is quite tough.
He's really nice. He made the midterm and final super hard for B05,but those two were belled like crazy. He made the midterm for B06 SUPER easy. Really helpful, and his review questions are useful. He has started posting instructor's comments on his slideshow notes, which helps a lot.
nice prof, expect hard exams from him
He should not be teaching this course as he does not have an approachable attitude. Talks to you and makes you feel as if you are dumb. Students are intimidated to ask him questions. Goes too fast in his lectures and final killed most people (not curved as it should). I am never taking another class with him again
The Best Professor Ever. Down to Earth and warm hearted. (MGTB06, MGTB03)
Nicest, most dedicated teacher you will ever meet. If you don't get an A in this class you didn't try for it. He did everything he could to get you the A.
DO THE PRACTICE QUESTIONS LIKE 23239239 times, you'll still probably fail but not as badly. Other than that, he's great
He knows what he's talking about as an accountant. His tests are always hard though...a little too hard. But he will continue to be like that no matter what so either suck it up and get through it or take it with someone else. If you work hard, you should be able to land a decent grade.
He is tough, I think it just the very nature of acctg that makes it that way.
The best accounting professor ever!!!!
Accounting with this guy is hard and confusing. You seriously need to work your butt off for that A. A lot of luck will help too on the exams. Overall, he's a very knowledgeable guy who loves food and will always talk about it.
Took MGAB01, MGAB02, and MGAB03 with him, Quan Fun is life.
Hes a good guy, but such a hard exam maker. He is always ready to help you when you need it and he replies to emails so fast. He uses excel to do questions in class and he moves at lightening speed so it tends to get confusing
Classical quote from Ms. Fun: If I can complete the exam in one hour, you should be able to do it in two hours.
I'm not a fan of accounting, but Quan Fun made it bearable. He teaches EXACTLY what is going to be on the test, and even gives strong pointers to what WILL be on the test. Honestly, if you study and actually are focused, it's hard to do bad.
He goes super fast, and likes to use Excel for accounting. Either type fast or write faster. He likes to make complicated questions, so be prepared. His tests are hard because he combines as many chapters into one question. He says that if he can write a test in 1 hour, then we can write it in 2 and double check our work.
Professor Quan Fun is a great professor when it comes to learning intermediate and advanced accounting. He is knowledgable and cares about the grades of his students. He even tries to get to you know more personally by asking your name. On the other hand, he is very busy. If he has office hours and you need help, be to the point. He gets annoyed
It's not about the lecturer, the courses themselves are hard. He teaches ok, but it's hard to follow him up. Goes through questions very very very fast, be prepared to write quickly! I have to go to his class twice every week (and maybe one more to other prof's class), the first time taking notes and second time listening.
Go to class and you will do fine in this course, gives many hints, the best accounting professor at uoft.
The best accounting prof at UTSC. Trust me on this
Tough prof... have to be on your toes at all times. Preclass readings are a must... you have to get concepts clarified. He always does this thing on his exams, where he will test you on something you haven't studied but reasonably ought to know if you studied hard! It hard to know what he will test you on and his assignments are long.
I took MGAD50 with him and i still get PTSD from that course, but I will say, it was taught WELL by him that I refer to QF's notes over what is given to me by CPA. His exams will make you cry, but I will admit he does teach D50 well (still am triggered by the course and its materials even though I have graduated). Id suggest going to office hrs too
Good prof, but tests harder and tricky esp for multiple choice questions. But he does bell-curve for the final at the end of the semester . i only got 80% in the before final exam, and my final was bad but end up with a 85
Professor Quan Fun really delivers amazing lectures, try to listen carefully and think about the techniques he teaches.
George is super friendly to all of his students. He makes an attempt to get to know everyone so that he can teach them effectively. His exams are very tough, but he teaches the content very clearly and efficiently.
His online assignments need you to spend a lot of time on, and his exam questions are too many to finish.
Really nice prof, even though the final is brutal and harsh, but in terms of teaching he is the best, one of the best accounting prof in utsc.
His midterm wasnt that hard. But his final was sooooo hard, some types of short questions I havent learnt during his lecture, which made me felt confused and spent lots of time on thinking how to do these.
Very nice and caring professor. His examples in class is always close to daily life and useful. The exam is challenging but he always curve if the avg is low. As long as you pay attention to lec and go over all of the materials he provides you will not do bad.
Great professor! You will do great if pay attention to lec and go over his materials. His office hours are very helpful for online classes.
He can't help that his course is material heavy. But he does do everything he can to ensure everyone does well. He is exactly what a professor should be: caring, eloquent, immense attention to detail, and hard working. if you put in an appropriate amount of effort in mgab01/02, you'll get above an 80 easy.
Awesome prof, teaches clearly, tests are fair, posts plenty of practice questions with solutions.
He's an amazing prof, genuinely cares about his students. The course itself is a bit heavy but he does an amazing job at explaining and provides great material for extra practice
One of the best professors out there. He supplements theoretical classes with a good amount of practice questions to work though (though I wish he provided more). Most profs I've had don't give enough resources for us to use but Quan Fun genuinely works hard to ensure you have all that you need to be successful. MOCK exercises are very helpful.
He's a great professor. Exams are difficult, but he tries the best to support students, gives useful resources and respond emails quick.
Study the Mock and SBE questions for the exams. ICQ will not be on the midterm exam. If anything, study a combination of all three, but do not just study the ICQ. Organize your time carefully, each chapter has about 16 hours of homework questions, so schedule early on. You got this! "MGAD50 Final Exam" "MGAD50 Midterm Exam"
Great professor. He genuinely wants his students to do well, but it's also important to remember that it all comes down to the student. In terms of content, he's very good at explaining concepts in a way that is clear and understandable. His tests may be a bit challenging sometimes, but his personality makes up for it.
Though Professor Quan Fung teaches better than other professors in the course. His final and midterm are harder than most professors. If you want to continue doing accounting, his course will help you in the long run.. Professor Quan Fung is an amazing professor overall!
He teaches VERY fast.Compared to the other profs, his exams are much harder and complicated. The course is content heavy so you MUST be ready to schedule ur time every week to study. Dont cram if you wanna do very well. His exams have terrible wording which will mess with you. His multiple choices are HARD. However, he's caring and tries his best.
I haven't done accounting since gr11 but this course is so easy. He teaches fast, but enthusiastic and engaging. I didn't take notes since he posts annotated lecture slides, & I didn't need to read the textbook except for monthly online assignments. The worst are his handwriting and multiple choice, but he gives generous curves (from X/100 to X/85)
Quan Fun is a great teacher and I actually enjoy his lectures. His midterm & final are hard but he teaches what he puts on the exam. Super nice and he's happy to answer questions. Rewatching his video lectures helps a lot. If you don't want to be called on, don't sit in the first or last row. Put in the work and you'll do fine.
Quan Fun the GOAT
He was really nice, seemed to actually care about the students and the content. He did curve for us a bunch even though he said he won't...I really liked his way of teaching
one of the best professors at utsc hands down. teaches super well and is generous with curving. midterm went from /100 to /80. do all your homework and memorize the content on the slides and you will always do good because he only puts what he teaches in class. make sure you understand what is happening though cuz it is a little harder on the exam
Quan Fun is a very good professor, he thoroughly teaches material and gives good insight into how fundamental concepts work in accounting and why we use them. He also gives great tips on how to do well in his midterms and finals, and he doesn't put any trick questions on them either. Overall, a wonderful professor.
Good proff was thorough in class material and was engaging. Would take him again.
one of my favourite utsc profs. excellent teaching, lots of practice, and tells you what is going to be on the exam. mcq is tough though and is one of the harder accounting teachers (curve makes up for it). definitely recommend if you want thorough understanding of accounting
Mid term and finial exam did not have to be that hard, but very nice curve
honestly he just reads off the slides so you have to learn/teach everything yourself because it's difficult to understand in class when you just get told a bunch of theory and rules. he actually made accounting even more boring than it is. but he gave lots of practise/resources and often said what was on the exam which was good.
exam was pretty hard ngl study for the exam mid term gets curved so dont stress
