Wonderful teacher who helps international and domestic students with developmental English classes. You can even find him hanging in the student center during his off time to help students. Way to go George! :). keep it up!

george is totally awesome. he talks a lot and hardly 'teaches' at all, but when you're taking 301 it's not like there's much you need to be taught. he obsesses over everyone's papers so its really really hard to do poorly.

I had George for Research in Disciplines and he is absolutely great!! He is beyond helpful. He makes personal conferences with each student to make sure that they get the help they need. There is not a better professor at Rutgers, or anywhere else!

i took his class in fall 2005 and learned a great deal from him. he made me confident of writing and he really takes a lot of his time into helping his students out. such a great, great teacher!

Expos 2 is a hard class but George is an AMAZING professor - i recommend taking him for any english class regardless of the subj for expos2: do exactly what he says and you'll be fine in the class- one of the best professors at Rutgers

even though george is allergic to punctuality, it is easy to overlook. he really goes the extra mile to make sure your paper is the best it can be and that you are the best writer you can be. you'd be crazy to pass up a class he teaches.

George- what a guy. I didn't do as well as I would have liked on the final paper, but he is still a great prof. He tells you exactly what you need to do to alter your paper into an A paper. Doing the alterations on your own on the other hand is a totally different story, and you have to be self-motivated for it. Never comes on time. Nice guy.

Great Professor! He dedicates so much time to his students and has endless energy to help them. Very sweet and as long as you make a good impression on him (show that you want to get a good grade), he will do all he can to help get you a good grade (but you have to work for it). I didn't look forward another semester of expos but it was great.

very laid back teacher. tells stories over and over but its bearable. he was a great teacher for expos 201 because for most of us, we didn't want to be in that class. he works hard to get you the grade you want but you have to work hard too. writing a paper that long isn't easy but he definitely helps a lot.

George is awesome. You may have no idea what is going on in class and confused as to what the purposes of certain discussions are however, when it comes down to it he is always there to help. Professor Schroepfer is the nicest and most helpful professor! He gives you a lot of guidance on papers and extensions if you need it. Lectures are a little boring, but his disposition more than makes up for it. He is a fair grader and easy to communicate with (by email and face-to-face). Take him!!

He's a great professor. He will read what you write and say what he thinks what you're saying. No joke, what you write is more profound and complicated than you think. This professor helps you understand what you think you understand. I think this is what makes him so great. Take his film study class. You won't regret anything.

This is not a bs class; you have to put some effort in your writing. But, George is clear with what he wants in each paper so pay attention. He's lenient with deadlines and takes a lot of time to edit your drafts.

submit drafts often and let him comment on them! it's hard to get lower than a B if you do all the work and follow what he says (he knows what he's doing). also give yourself lots of time for working on your final paper since it is a big portion of your grade

George is amazing. I like writing to begin with but took this class because I had to (failed it the first time when I was pledging). He is so helpful! His comments are pretty clear and sure the paper itself requires a lot of work, but he makes the class so fun and chill. He's super lenient with deadlines too. Got an A. 55 for sure. TAKE HIM.

Took him at Kean University in 1990 and 1991 - best prof I have ever had (includes grad school). Taught me so much about writing - I am an accountant and I use what he taught me every day. Great guy, easy going and relatable. Not sure I was too crazy about his choice in music, but not everyone is perfect. Lucky to have met him!

Learned a lot about writing, made the class easy and fun, talks about his own life a lot. one 5 page paper, 1 10 page paper, 1 presentation, 5 source evals. Prof makes every effort to work with you and ensure that you succeed, but to get a good grade you need to put the work in. Read your sources carefully and go to conferences prepared with questions. He is relatable and I think this is what makes him inspiring, but b sure to pay attention when he gives you feedback! I would take him again if I could.

Prof Schroepfer is by far the BEST English teacher. He is devoted to improving every student's writing by teaching us how to explain more effectively. He taught us the difference between information and analysis, which is really important in expos. Take him for basic, you will learn so much in his class.

Professor S. is undoubtedly the most accessible professor I've ever had, he always makes himself available to you whenever you need him. Even though there's a lot of research and writing involved, he gives you lots of tips to help you succeed. As long as you make a genuine and consistent effort, you'll do well in the class.

George makes a class like Basic Comp way more fun. He makes classes more entertaining by bringing in his own stories along with real-world relevant stories. He wants every student to get an A. As long as you put a good amount of effort in the class, you will be fine!

Hilarious, VERY candid - the use of profanity and saying things most teachers would say makes him very lovable. Likes talking about past experiences and old students, which is fine. Very understanding, flexible, and lenient. Constantly expands due dates. Down to earth and conversational. decent effort = good grade

If you put in any kind of effort he will see that and reward you for it. He is literally always available to help and made a super long paper way less daunting and more manageable. Super easy grader and will basically give you the answers if you just ask. Just be kind and do your work and you'll forever be on his good side. A little crazy but funny

Professor Schroepfer is the best professor to take for Research in the Disciplines. Being required to complete five source evaluations, three rough drafts, and a final essay, the assignments become much easier if you go to class and join his office hours. A solid 10/10 professor

Professor Schroepfer is one of the best writing professors I have ever had. Architecture is not my level of expertise, and I knew nothing about it, so I was even more scared. But the fact that he gives excellent feedback and is actually willing to teach his students about architecture is inspirational. Love his class, take this professor.

Professor Schroepfer is the best teacher. He spent lots of time with the student to revise their paper, to make sure as large as possible, every student could get an A. Although you may wait lots of time during his conference, it's useful. And you can definitely get an A with him!!

George Schroepfer is the greatest professor that I have ever had. He is incredibly understanding, funny, and caring, and is super lenient with due dates. His Research in the Disciplines 201 class caused me to look at film as a medium in a completely new way. Great guy all around.

Great professor who values your work ethic and knows who wants to do well in the class. He holds conferences every week and provides valuable feedback for your essays. He is also one of the only professors I know who extends deadlines to accommodate for upcoming exams, busy weeks, etc.

I had him for expos, and he is a great teacher while he does get sidetracked during class telling stories overall though he is clear about what he wants in the paper as long as you talk to him. Also, he is accessible outside the class during office hours and gives good advice for papers.

I have a lot of respect for George and his care for his students. Sadly, I believe he is retiring this summer, so I hope his last semester treats him well. If you genuinely show up with questions, you will have no problem getting an A. He may be old and late at times, but he still puts 100% in class. He even showed up after suffering a bloody fall.

George is a very chill teacher kinda like a grandpa. I had him last for 101 in the fall, and he was very caring and understanding. He will give you an extension if you talk to him. He's very inclusive too, he would talk to the internationals more but nothing against that. Only like 4 main projects and pretty easy grade if you do it.

Overall a great professor who provides valuable feedback and is willing to accommodate students. The class can be challenging, but engaging with the material and using tools like unstuck ai can really help.

Had him for 101. He's retiring but planning to come back. Yes his lectures were boring, but he made 101 easy and didn't give us an unbearable amount of work. The papers we did write were not difficult at all, although his explanations of assignments is not clear. Would recommend you take English with him if possible
