Best math teacher I've had. Very clear and easy to understand. Take this class if you want an A.
Very good math teacher. He makes every lecture entertaining, and made the class laugh pretty hard on many occasions. He also likes to leave room in his lecture to give you some history behind the math, applications, and other info.
His tests werent hard. As long as you know the basic ideas you will do well. He makes sure to go over things in class and he always answers HW questions. Great Math teacher
Great teacher. He's a *gasp* human being, and he treats his students with *gasp* respect. Amazing for a math class right? Very entertaining, and the knowledge you learn *sticks* because he doesn't lay some sick trip on you like other teachers. Take h
He is a great teacher.
He is really good teacher that moves at a fast pace ~ but makes sure that people understand.
Awesome math teacher. HE actually made Stats interesting and would strive to make sure everyone understood. He always said he doesn't care, but truly he does. I wish I could take another one of his classes, but alas I transferred finally.
He's a great teacher but math really isn't my thing so I had trouble following. He throws out the worst quiz score and replaces the worst test score with the final grade if it's better so he's apretty fair grader. He also gives study guides.I got alittle sleepy during his lectures but he's very clear.
awesome teacher. We used the computer to get most of our answers with special software he created in excel which made it easier for us than learn the stupid long formulas. Take home quizes are not too hard either
THE BEST! George is so funny and fun to take a class with. He is very helpful, has an awesome grading policy, and really loves to teach. He really cares about explaining why (not just how) we follow certain mathmatical principals. Interesting stories in class. Take him if you can!
sturr is an awesome math teacher and a cool person as well. he's really funny and prepares you well for the tests. I definately recommend his class to everyone.
The best Math instructor!!! nuff respect
Very understandable! Explains things better than any other math teacher I've ever had. For those students who need to know why principals work, he's the instructor for you!! Doesn't require you to just take his word for it that things work the way they do.
Easy A in this class. All quizes are open book and open note. Gives you a whole page of notes for tests and both sides for the final. All the homework is extra credit added to tests. He strays off subject once in a while but overall a great teacher,
BEST math teacher at the JC. Coolest guy around Shuhaw.
He'll help you a lot and you'll never be confused about what he expects from you. He's pretty laid back too. It's not a super simple subject, so you do need to do some studying before exams.

great teacher, lots of knowledge, exams are hella easy, allows one page of notes for them, hwk is not required but he gives xtra credit if u do it
If i can pass this class anyone can, i stink at math. i got a B. be good with microsoft excel and the class is a breeze for a math class.
Sturrs a hottie. He rocks.
Best math teacher I've ever had. Has a great personality, and teaches very clearly. Allows you to use a full page of notes on each test, and will replace your lowest exam score with your final score if it's in your favor. Really funny at times, and is pretty hot to boot. I would highly reccomend taking any of his classes.
I highly recommend taking stats with George - he goes over the same material twice which helps, and he is clear. His exams are straight-forward and easy - we are also allowed 1pg notes both sides for the midterms, and 2pgs notes both sides for the final. HW was ext crdt, but that might change. I recommend George if you are having trouble with math.
Cannot teach Calculus. Do not take him for calculus. He is not confident in his work and makes mistakes often. He did allow notes on tests though which was helpful.

Ahhhh! Never take this prof if you want to learn anything from your teacher! Well, you can learn how to cover your mistakes with girlish giggle, but arithmatic? SEEK ELSEWHERE.
I had never gotten an 'A' in math until this class. The class is easy if you keep up on the homework. George Sturr is a great teacher and I am taking him again for Stats.
Sturr is a good teacher. Approachable and easy going and not full of himself. I got a B in the class and I'm not really into math. This was my 4th math class at SRJC and this instructor is possibly the best of them all. He allows 2 pages (front and back)of notes for the final exam plus extra credit for homework at exam time. Like all math, one must
He is one of the best math teachers, EVER!
Amazing.... I could only define him as ultimately exemplary. He will invest so much time to help those that don't get it, yet he's constantly willing to provide that extra challenge for those who can handle it. He is an amazing person just to chat with and get to know, let alone a fantastic teacher. I give him an A++++.
Sturr is great for a student who doesnt like or understand math. I studied my butt off before I took the placment test and landed in 15- but I hadnt taken ANY math in 15 years. Sturr pulled me thru and I got a B. Just go to class, do the homework & ASK QUESTIONS. He made it the least comlicated out of all the instructors- I "interviewed" them all.
awesome, fun loving guy. everybody liked him and he was very far. i've never done so good in a math class before. he allows one page of notes for every test including the final and that saved me! i would recommend him to everybody!!! (math155)
This guy is perfect if you just want transferable credits and don't like math. Every test is easy as long as you do 30 minutes of preparation before the test. Homework is short and graded easy. Even if you take math seriously, you'll learn something here. Just make good note sheets for the tests and do your homework at a B level and you'll pass.
Sturr made everything so abundantly clear and easy that I'm utterly perplexed that some people didn't do well in this class.
Sturr is a great guy. If you go to class and pay attention it is almost impossible to fail because he is an incredibly thorough teacher and wants his students to do well. He also did me a huge favor with the final and he didn't have to.
One Gripe: The practice tests and homework don't adequately prepare you for the real tests. Its one of those kindof things where you can study and study and fall flat on your face on an exam.
Great teacher! hilarious... He went on for 10 minutes on how our class was like Harry Potters school of magic.haha. overall, he stays on subject, very very clear. and always open in his office hours.
George is very patient, funny, and knowledgeable. I loved this class! Very real world applicable, unlike many other math courses. This guy will help you if you help yourself and do your homework. Show up with good questions and he will do his best to help.
Compared to other math classes, this is pretty good. You have to pay attention and do the work (like any other math class) but Sturr is a very good duy and will help you. I didnt even need a stat calculator, just used the computer. I would recommend this class especialy compared to other classes.
DONT TAKE THIS OVER SUMMER!! I was in over my head, we went through a chapter a day. You would think that he would cut some slack over summer, but he didnt. I got a B, but this class literally consumed my summer.
Very nice, organized, and clear. Subject is pretty easy but there are a lot of new concepts. He is funny in a nerdy way and will help you if you need it! Returns test and homework in a timely manner and will go over things you ask him to. Recommended.
The class is really easy. When the new concepts got a little confusing he would explain it in another way to get everyone to understand. NOTES ON ALL TESTS! He's also really nice and funny too. I recommend this class for anyone who isn't a math person because afterward you appreciate math more.
Sturr was very helpful. Math is not one of my strengths, but he made it as easy as possible. I ended up getting an A. Excellent professor!
He is a very comical teacher; every class was interesting on a reasonable level. A page of notes was allowed on every test and he often gives extra credit. He takes great care in explaining the background of what we were studying. One downfall is that his arithmetic skills can become clumsy as the night wears on. He is also a picky grader on tests.
This was a really interesting class and I liked Sturr as a teacher. He speaks quietly and slowly which makes everyone listen more closely. He's a fair grader and really works to help students understand the information. As a bonus he is funny, charming, self-deprecating (which was cute and entertaining), and a quite handsome man in my opinion.
great teacher
Great teacher, go to class and take notes and you'll be set.
Great teacher, funny, clear, & a fair grader. If you take notes & do the homework & take home quizzes it's a pretty easy A. He allows 1 page of notes (front & back) on exams, 2 pages for the final. I highly recommend him!
HORRIBLE! he is all over the place in his teaching style, often having to go back to something he stated earlier. he is very cold and unfriendly to students, will help on homework but not with a positive attitude. he's just there for the pay check and nothing else.
this class is hard, and he doesn't make it any easier in his teaching style. if you're good at math he's great for you, but if you struggle/are ok, then he is bad. STAY AWAY
Ok class. He seems to be disorganized which is really frustrating. His teaching style is all over the place and its hard to follow, however he does a good job trying to explain things if you don't get it. Very arithmetic clumsy like someone else mentioned. Gets really annoying. Overall, it's ok. Not great not horrible.
I think he is one of the best teachers I have ever had! He explains things so well, he lets you have notes on exams and has required homework which I like b/c I'ts easy points!!! He also a handsome man with a good sense of humor!!!! Makes Statistivs fun!
Great teacher! He's a little goofy which really keeps the class interesting. He explains what needs to be explained well, and overall the class is easy. A page of notes for each test and two for the final are a real help. Do the work, listen in class, and an A is in easy reach. I HIGHLY recommend this professor!
I am not sure why someone said he is cold and unfriendly. He has helped me and friends with math that weren't even in his class. He still says hi to me in the hallways and remembers my name 4 semesters later. He is one of the best in the department. He really helps you prepare for his tests, and spells out concepts very clearly. Great professor.
This class was pretty easy and interesting up until the Geometry section... at least for me. George is a pretty good teacher but is kind of unorganized (he would try to fit important information in the last few seconds of class).
I found George to be very open and reasonable. I went to his office before the final to see what I needed to study and he was going to put all this hard mathematical model stuff on there and I asked him not to, and he actually listened to me. I ended up getting an A in the course. It's heavy logic, so if you are good at that you'll do fine.
Great teacher. very easy.
Amazing instructor. Clear lectures, but can get abit off topic and boring with the computer demonstrations. Tough test, but no tricky questions or things that werent cover. Grades based on completion of homework, quiz (which was always take home for my class), but mostly on test, like every math class. Very reasonable on grading. Highly Recommend!
George is a great math teacher for people who are afraid of math. I actually started crying during a test and he got up, looked and my paper and said, "I can't help you, but you're doing okay so far, just keep going." Lots of empathy for math anxiety, and yeah, he is easy on the eyes, too. Great teacher, great guy.
George is a great math teacher for people with math anxiety. I actually started crying during a test and he got up, took a look at my paper and said, "I can't help you with the test, but what you've got so far looks okay. Just keep going." I kept going and got an A in his class! Great teacher, great guy, and yeah, he's easy on the eyes, too.
Sturr is one of my favorite instructors. His testing style is fair; not laughably easy, but also not excruciatingly hard. He's easy-going and laid-back, cracks jokes and goes off on amusing tangents that made the material bearable. Put the right amount of effort into the class and you stand to get an A. (Oh, and he kind of looks like George Lucas)
He used the book for homework and in class problems. He will answer questions you have on any of the problems but he expects that once he has taught it the first time that everyone will understand the material. I dropped the class cause he did not help at all. If you are great at math and don't need a teacher he's perfect, but he didn't work for me
He's 10x clearer than the text, and his tests are very straightforward and predictable. He's a little absent-minded, but has a great personality and teaching style.
This class is not hard but not easy either. He gives credit for homework which most stat teachers don't. The homework is not graded he just makes sure you did all the questions.Take him if you want to pass class. There were six students in my class who were retaking the course because they took it with other professors.
Excellent Teacher. Hard to miss something as he repeats himself a lot, but in a non-boring way. Very available for questions and explanations. Also very personable. So glad I dropped out of P. Vetrano's class - after 2 times, and waited for the next semester to take G. Sturr's instead. I highly recommend this teacher, first Math class I enjoye
I am one of those people who are horrible at math. I dreaded it and put off taking math until my sixth semester in college. I was so relieved when i found out how helpful and crystal clear Sturr is. The homeworks are straight out of the book. The tests are easy if you do the homeworks. Overall the best math class i have ever had!!
Sturr is a great stats teacher. He makes the subject matter conceptually and practically approachable by walking you through the "classic" methods of doing things before showing you how the technology that HE made can do the job with the click of a button. He lets you take notes with you to the tests, and makes technology available during tests.
If you hate math and simply aren't very good at it, then this class will be hard for you. But sturr is a very good teacher and his lectures are very clear.
Great teacher! Very helpful and caring. Makes sure you understand the material. Definitely goes the extra mile for his students. Very fair teacher. Will try to take his courses in the future.
do not take this if yo are ok in math. I took algebra 1 as a freshman in high school, I love math and this guy knows how to talk in circles. He is nice, but will go off subject and talk in detail about other math only to tell you that you do not need to know any of what he spent the hour talking about, its just fun to know.
Mr. Sturr was all over the place. We were the first class to use mymathlab with him and he didn't know how to use it. The practice tests had so many errors and everything was last minute. If your not strong in math...I would suggest taking someone else. I personally don't like mymathlab.
Math geeks! Don't take Stat at the JC if you can help it. It's terribly, terribly dull and basic for anyone with a good grasp of math. That said, Sturr was the most methodical and organized teacher I've ever had. He doesn't get distracted, and his lectures are excellent (if devoid of interesting off-topic tidbits).
Good teacher, but can be monotone. I had him for a night class and it made it challenging. Once he gets comfortable with the class he has a sense of humor and will joke around. Chill teacher, moderate tests, fair grading. I would recommend him
I took this class two semesters ago and failed it. He was more interested in his new math program he was creating then actually teaching. I learned more in the first two weeks taking math 15 with Herring, then the whole semester with Sturr. Take Herring if you can get into her class, she is amazing, makes you feel like a math genius.
Professor loves to lecture, not necessarily on the correct text grades are based mostly on work but Professor rarely explains how to solve the work
Sturr is not a good teacher regardless if you are good at math or not. That being said; about the chili pepper, this guy looks like Ted Danson, make it a Habenero!
Stuff is an awesome teacher! Clear, concise, and adheres to the syllabus. No fluff in this class, here is the equation and this is how you use it. Statistics is a dry subject but he makes it kind of fun.
Wow, very hard class, I don't know if I could have got through it with anyone else. I have never seen a prof. so prepared for class. Great lectures, great examples, hard tests. He looks like a better looking George Lucas. Always calm. Great teacher....don't miss class it's hard to catch up.
Easy going teacher, often makes silly mistakes in class, but it makes him relate-able! He's not the type of teacher to completely knock off points if you make little mistakes of your own on tests- which is great. Partial credit is fair on tests. Tough class.
Stats is a very dry subject for me and I love math. Besides the lectures being a bit boring, Sturr was pretty good at making sure everyone understood the subject before moving on. He has a good pace and is a pretty laid back teacher.
Lectures cover all material on tests, covers material thoroughly, gives pre-tests to prepare, fair on grading if you show your work. Explains statistics in an easy way to follow. All homework online.
George is humorous, quirky, and playful with his students and may go off on random subjects sometimes, but he is a really good teacher and he WANTS his students to do well. We even got a page of notes for each test. He is also lenient with tests if something immediate comes up. I'd definitely take him again if I had to take another math class!
Great, sometimes a bit dull, but VERY helpful and moves slow enough to be understood easily. Not persay an easy A, but if you put in the time and do the homework you'll definitely get one- notes allowed on all tests, etc! Definitely take him.
Sturr is very clear, helpful, and makes it possible to pass Statistics. I took this class previously with other instructors, Sturr is your best bet if you struggle with math/stats. Online homework, page of notes for tests! In class work on the computers and in class quizzes enforce that you learn the material.
I loved George- his class was always simple to understand, and while at times it could be a bit boring (I'm not a math person) he was always so easy to understand. It was a pleasure taking his class, and it was actually fun to sit and listen to him talk! Such a great guy.
I think Mr. Sturr is great! I was amazed to LOVE stats - I know, right??? There is a lot of homework, but it helps you learn. He explains things really well, and is available on break or office hours for questions. At first I was off-put by his slightly dry attitude, but I really learned how awesome he is! I highly recommend him.
I have Sturr for 1c and 5. He's a laid back guy but can be a bit facetious when students ask questions in class. Tests aren't crazy hard and are centered around past tests, class examples, quizzes, and homework. Quizzes are take home and homework is due every class period for 5 and every other for 1c . I wish I had him for the entire math sequence
I took Math 1C and Math 5, and overall I would say it's very doable if you're a well balanced student. Sturr is very fair in terms of his tests, some are harder than the others, but if you study you will do fine. Highly recommended professor, well thought out lectures, comes prepared to class, nothing but praise for the man!
He's thorough in class and even more detailed in office hours.
Best instructor ever, if you love math take sturr G 's class
George is a great teacher. He goes over everything very slowly to assure students understand the material and all quizzes are take-home. He allows for a half sheet of notes front and back for each test and gives out detailed study guides that if you use, you are sure to pass. The only down side is that final is cumulative! I would take him again!
Your Grade Breakdown: 80% exams (4 total including final) 10% homework (online) 10% quizzes (take home). Only ONE opportunity for extra credit on the 3rd exam (4 points total). Does not givetake away points based on attendance. Overall, very nice guy, super funny, but if math doesn't come easy to you then look into other instructors
Linear Algebra is tough. If you have excellent study skills, you'll do fine. Sturr is an excellent teacher. Super clear, organized, and to the point. Always there to help during office hours. Mandatory quizzes. Homework is manageable.
Sturr is awesome!!! Super clear and helpful. Lets you have a sheet of notes on the test and gives detailed study guides. Fair grader, really good about giving partial credit on test and quizzes for little mistakes. He has this awesome dry sense of humor that always keeps thing interesting. Best math teacher EVER!!
One of the best teachers I have ever had! Love Sturr!
I'm genuinely surprised at the rating this professor has. Over the course of my semester with him he was completely disorganized, had us use an online system for hw that only seemed to work every other week, and the homework was due at a completely inappropriate time every week. He tries to be funny but is rarely successful. DON'T take this class.
He's easily taken off course. He often forgets things (like the attendance sheet, our homework, paper, notes, and to grade tests). His lectures can be decent; other times it can be extremely dry but I think that's partly the course. Take good notes and do the homework and you'll do fine. Not that much homework and most was online.
I hate stats but Sturr made the subject understandable. He gives lots of support in terms of clear lectures that are available online, worksheets, practice quizzes and study guides. The attendance and homework are easy ways to bump up your grade so stay on top of it. He's a bit unorganized which I didn't mind but double check your all your scores!
Best math teacher ever!!!! Seriously if you can, take him! He is easy going and a pretty funny guy. He tries to make stats interesting and he doesn't grade his students to harshly, allows notes on tests. He's very good at explaining things and has consistent and coherent teaching. I Would take him again if I wasn't transferring in the fall!
Sturr is the best math professor that I have ever had in my life, period. His notes are great and always to the point. We even got to leave early sometimes. His tests are very straightforward and aren't very difficult. He provides a practice test, allows for a half sheet of notes, and grades very fairly. And he's a gem of a person. Would recommend!
Took in person but he had an online homework. Really nice and constantly extended deadlines to accommodate students. Didn't need textbook (abt $130) but had to have access to online service (abt $99) since that's how you turn in all homework. He is the nicest, clearest math teacher you could ever hope to meet! Has a fan-page subreddit!
Coming from someone who HATES, I mean HATES math, I did quite well in this course. Three midterms, and a comprehensive final. You get a page of notes for the midterms and two for the final, take advantage of this! I was pleasantly surprised that I actually learned some stuff when it came to the final. He's very monotone but such a nice guy!
Awesome prof! He is a super nice guy both in lecture and OHs. Wants you to succeed. Lectures help with HW, which helps with exams. I highly recommend.
I've taken a lot of math classes and teachers at the jc, He is my favorite. I like to understand the why's of math, he gives it and it makes so much sense. Things just click. He genuinely loves math. Very nice, very funny once he gets to know you. I can't say enough good things, looking forward to my next class with him.
I took Math 155 and Math 15 with George Sturr and he is the greatest math teacher i have had! He cares about you passing and will help you get there if you communicate with him. His Math 15 tests were very hard and took a lot of preparation but he does let you have a full sheet of notes (front and back). I would recommend for everyone to take him!
Awesome math professor who cares about his students. He takes the time to explain material if you have questions. I am glad I took him for 155. He helped build my math foundation.
I am not a math person. But Sturr was so good at making sure you understand. He's willing to work with everyone. Get ready to listen to lectures, but he has worksheets with good examples. And you get a page of notes front and back for every exam. good teacher!
George Sturr is a fantastic teacher! He is extremely approachable and wants you to learn the material. He can be a bit sassy but that is him just joking around. He is very passionate about math and will share things about math that you should expect to see at higher level classes. You have to go to class to get a goos grade! Also do the homework!
Rushes through lectures. Problems on test are not on review. His aniexty/stressed to get to the next chapter even when students question previous. Worst impatient math instructor.
He is amazing! Math has never been my strong point but he gives you everything you need to do well if you put in effort. Homework every week but each question give you unlimited trys so they are easy points. He allows a page of notes (both sides) for every midterm and 2 pages for the final. He is the best math teacher I have ever had.
Sturr personally didn't mesh with my learning style and so I had a little trouble, but he was still a good instructor. He could have been a little clearer at times, but he is helpful when you go to office hours. He is great about giving partial credit on exams but is VERY slow to grade. Sturr is also very punny which helps to break up the lectures.
Quite possibly the most worthless class I have ever taken. Lecture, lecture, lecture with no real world application given. Lectures are often tangential and all relevant information is provided in online notes. A stark contrast from a great math teacher I had last semester.
He was great! 3 tests, 4 take home quizzes, homework due Sundays online with unlimited tries! He offers no extra credit but lets you use one sheet of paper front and back for every test and then two of those for the final. He also drops your lowest test grade and replaces your next lowest test grade with your finals grade if you did better on it!
Wowww is Sturr great! He drops the lowest test score very helpful and easy to understand. I took this class three times and I wish I went with him the first time around.
Great professor. Pay attention/know the material and do the homework for an A. His class was simple, clear and organized.
George is a good instructor. He lectures almost the entire class, but the lectures are generally good and easy to understand. He sometimes makes mistakes in lectures. The downsides to the class are twofold: First, George often goes on tangents, causing him to have to rush through the material toward the end of class. Second, way too much HW.
Has trouble solving some of the problems he expects students to solve. Test study guides are useless and will not prepare you for the test. Picks the hardest possible questions for the tests. Puts to many questions on the test for the short amount of time you're expected to take it in.
Not a math person, but he was great! He gives out worksheets and goes over them in class. He also makes quizzes take home, and give a study guide for each test. He is somewhat a boring lecturer but still would take him again. Overall I enjoyed going to his class every week.
He's a good teacher, only thing I wish he would do better would be to not cram so much lecture into such a small span of time.
He is a very boring lecturer. He speaks in a monotone voice, when you ask questions he makes you feel like your dumb. Most of the class is done on computers, so you don't retain the information well. Retaking this class, with Anna Brown and it is like night and day. Don't waist your time or money taking him, I promise you will regret it.
I have been overall pleased with my math professors here, but Mr Sturr is my favorite so far. He is interesting, fair, funny and great at engaging the class during lectures. I actually looked forward to coming to this class. I would highly recommend him.
George is a great math teacher! His classes are hard to get into and he usually has a large group of people trying to add when semester starts. He basically draws sticks and 3 people usually get in for sure. Never used the book for this class and homework is done all online. Tests were tough but he lets you use notes. Super chill guy 100% recommend
Sturr is fair and focused with a slightly comedic attitude. He was fun to work with and his homework was always a fair size. Tests can be really challenging but with clear study guides and practice tests, it's easy to ace them with some work. The content is hard but he makes time fly and math make sense. If you take math, take Sturr.
A professor worth taking again! Professor Sturr absolutely knows how to provide a fun, easy-going atmosphere for learning. Quizzes were usually take-home but that's usually the nature of fast-paced summer courses. He is readily available in his office hours and is willing to help clear any confusions you may have! I definitely would recommend him.
Good teacher, sometimes all over the place. For the most part makes the class easy and passable if you put in the work and show up. This is coming from someone who is terrible at math.
He won't hesitate on making a student feel incompetent. That being said, you'll gain his respect once you prove yourself. He pads the lecture with historical facts that make the concepts more memorable; many students seemed to yawn through it, but hopefully more than a few appreciate it.
QUALITY. CHILL w HEART OF GOLD. VAST EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE shines: organized/prepared w Canvas and lecture, sticks to schedule, USEFUL HANDOUTS. Lectures worth every second - topics/examples important! GREAT OFFICE HRS for hw/quiz help. Assigns hw u can check in back of book. (Hated book & solns manual, not enuf steps & errors). BEST MATH2 CHOICE!
CONSCIENTIOUS. GO TO OFFICE HOURS hes FANTASTIC RESOURCE FOR UNDERSTANDING difficult material. Turn in homework on time because foolish to lose half the points if its late. A few take-home quizzes that he will even help you with in office hours. Come to class ready for the next topic (read text & start hw), because he does! An SRJC TREASURE!
george sturr, captain of the s.s. math2 skillfully maneuvers through tricky topics and challenging calculus. it may not always be smooth sailing, but fret not with experienced sturr at the helm.
Mr. Sturr is relaxed, smart, and seems sincere in wanting his students to understand the material. His course is laid out with clear structure from the beginning, and easy to follow. Having not taken math for 11 years, I found this class to be not too difficult. I would take Sturr again simply from his personality, let alone great teaching ability.
While not the most amazing or relatable teacher, Mr. Sturr will give you the grade you work for. Do all the homework, and study well for the tests, and you can get an A in his class
Sturr is truly an awesome teacher. The material he teaches is very tough, but he is very good at throughly explaining concepts. Go to class, take notes, do the homework and study guides. He is very willing to help in anyway possible. He's a very nice and funny guy who wants you to succeed.
I took math 15 during summer and I loved it. Yes you do have to put work and effort in. This is not the type of class you just go and thats it you actually have to go home and study and go over notes and etc. the midterms were good and the final was better and he is an amazing teacher the best one yet I recommend him 100
I took this course for the 2019 summer session. You definitely have to go to class, do the homework, study, and review your notes. Allows us to use notes for the midterms, drops the lowest midterm and replaces with the final exam, quizzes were take home. George is an AWESOME instructor!!! I Highly recommend and would take another class with him.
I took the Math 215 support class and the Math 15 class together with George, because I needed a teacher that could help explain the material to me since Math is not my strong subject. He did a horrible job in my opinion. When I expressed that I did not understand the whole unit he awkwardly walked away. If you struggle with math never take him.
Having completed all GE, the entire Calculus series, Linear Algebra, CS, Chem, & Physics classes, I have never had a better teacher at the JC. Sturr explains so clearly & slowly, is willing to go back over concepts, explaining in a different way if you ask. So fair. So CHILL. His experience is glaring in the best of ways. I will be sad to leave.
If there are bad reviews it means they are lazy and did not put time into the class. This class was amazing and he is an amazing teacher as long as you put the work in. You guys go to class, then "study" for like an hour with alot of distractions do bad on your test and take it out on rate my professor. HE is AMAZING and if you fail it was you!!!!!
George Sturr is an excellent teacher with a deep understanding of mathematics and statistics. He presents the information so you understand it. Best to attend all classes. The information is dense and moves quickly. During the online coronavirus portion of our class he did everything he could to help us get the information we need to pass the class
Hands down the best math instructor! I would not have passed math if it was not for him. He takes his time to really help each individual understand the material and is also very clear. If there was ever any confusion he was always willing to help during our breaks or during office hours. Wouldn't have passed this class without him.
Mr. Sturr was absolutely amazing! When I took him, I was not prepared to pass the class. At the end of semester I was nervous I wouldn't pass the exam and he told me he would give me a seat the next semester if that happened! For everyone that gave him a bad review they didn't actively try to have him help. Those are lousy reviews.
Sturr has a lot of experience in his field which is very refreshing for this subject. He's also a classic old-head with a great sense of humor. Listen very carefully to the terminology and always clarify exactly what answers he is helping you learn. A more useful subject than many anticipate, have a blast in stats and take George.
Professor Sturr is a fantastic teacher. His class was easy and he is a very forgiving grader. If you have some statistics experience just sit near the back of the class and do homework, and if you struggle with statistics just sit in the front row. He's a caring teacher who does a great job of explaining concepts.
Great professor, made the class really easy to follow. The course has a $70 textbook that you need to buy which gives access to the book he uses to teach the class and the homework assignments that are weekly but not too difficult, it's all online though. He has a good sense of humor and is just in general a very nice person.
Professor Sturr was amazing. I took him in the spring 2025. I struggle with math so this class was hard but he does good in dumbing it down. He gives you 10 tries on online hw per question. If you study by taking all the practice exams over and over you will pass the final. I would get C/D on all exams but I studied that way and passed with a B.
