Mr. Suttle is an excellent teacher. If you read the text book, come to class, and take notes you will do fine. His tests are rather difficult though so take good notes!

One of the best history teachers I have ever had

Tough class but worth it. Extremely knowledgeable and seems to like when you ask questions. He doesn't grade on attendance but you'll do much better if you show up and pay attention. Tests are hard but NOT impossible. Always available to help you outside of class. If you're willing to work, you can learn a LOT about history in his class.

I liked him a lot and he has a subtle yet amusing sense of humor. However, I have a short attention span and he can talk for a long time. His grading scale is a little strange (hard to get a 4.0, but not impossible) His tests aren't that bad if you read all the textbook stuff, pay attention in class, and read the on-line notes. H wnts u to succeed.

Suttle is a great professor. He has a sophisticated sense of humor and loves to throw it around in a "subtle" (pun intended) way. It is a lecture and book reading class so make sure you listen AND read. The tests will include a lot of stuff from the book. He's very approachable and has been a big help to me throughout my college experience.

Not sure what last posters problem was. Tests were challenging but I scored 90%+ on all of them, so who's stupid? If you're not ready for college don't show and whine.

I'd like to welcome some of the other commenters to college. It's not high school. Surprise! Suttle is a great Prof. He's made a conscious effort to make his tests easier and now has many test questions online before the test. He shows concern about every student and is really interested in his subject. Don't be a wuss, take Suttle.

He's a classic professor. He tries to make his subject interesting, and tells classic grandpa jokes. I'd take him again, the class is a good transition between high school and college.

This was by far my most favorite teacher that I have ever had in my entire history of learning. His knowledge has inspired me further to become a history prof. Any person who isn't able to do well in his class needs to grow up and realize its college, and that this man is a god at teaching history. Won't lie though, his tests were kinda hard =[

Absolutely loved this class! Suttle's a great teacher who wants every student to succeed even if history isn't your favorite. All the material for his tests is straight out of his lectures (wish I wouldn't have bought the textbook- I didn't use it once) Easiest way to pass class: show up, take notes, and pay attention to random little facts.

Probably the greatest teacher since Aristotle. Time mazazine's top 3 leaders in American history are Washington, FDR, and Suttle. Just the facts people. He's like the Wisdom of Ghandi, the words of Churchill, and the Good looks of George Clooney all in one. ... Yeah, that good. History will remember this time as the Suttlerian era.

Although he doesnt require you to attend class daily, I HIGHLY recommend it! Suttle's intentions are good, and he's an overall great professor. Start studying from day one! His tests are hard, but wont be too hard if you pay attention to his hints about what is on the test! If you have to take a history class, I definently recommend taking him!!!

Mr. Shuttle is an awesome person. He genuinely cares about his students. His tests are hard, but he does put study material online (it helps) and all his in class power points are online. You don't have to go to class but i extremely recommend it!! Overall nice guy just a hard subject.

I was not a history buff. But Mr. Suttle makes it interesting and forces you to think in this class. It is not an easy class, but it is not hard. Simply go to class and listen, and you have the potential to do very well in there.

Mr. Suttle lectures a lot but answers any questions you ever have and is so funny. it is by far one of my favorite classes.

He's really funny and tries to keep his lectures interesting. Attendance is key since he basically tells you what's going to be on the test and his lectures don't really follow the book. He also puts practice quizzes online which really helped. I would definitely recommend him.

Mr. Suttle is something different. He presents his information in PowerPoints and makes history sound so engaging. His class is easy if you just do the following: print notes from his personal website, study the notes before the exams, and most important memorizes the quizzes he posts online and you will pass with a fabulous grade.

I read all the comments on here and wonder what some of the people were thinking. It's not a hard class at all. Suttle requires things any worth-while teacher would require such as studying, reading the text book, and paying attention in class. I really enjoyed his class and learned a lot! He's always there to help and has the best (corny) jokes!

I read this page before I took this class and I was like this class would be hard. but he is a nice teacher, his material page is really helpful. If you read the text book and study for a test using his vocabulary lists, it's not that hard to pass his test.

One of the best teachers i've had. He has a way of making the most boring lectures somehow interesting. enjoyed every minute of his class. Pay attention cuz he will sometimes say the funniest most off-the-wall jokes, very funny! take good notes on his lectures then study them and you'll do well on the tests.

He will also tell you terms that will be on the test. He will often play youtube videos in class. Which makes what he is teaching more interesting. Overall i loved his class

i love learning history. Only thing wrong with this class was he just talked way to fast and it was hard to write down important stuff on his lectures. He would just fly through them. All he needs to do is learn to slow down a bit.

I simply loved this class.He made his subject very interesting, adding stories or strange facts to his lectures. He was also extremely organized and didn't waste your time. He made sure you knew what you needed to know for the tests, understanding that you probably wouldn't remember everything you had learned.VERY HIGHLY RECCOMENND HIM.

Mr. Suttle is an amazing teacher! He makes his lectures very interesting, and he is very straight-forward about what he wants from you. He provides note-sheets, vocab guides, and uploads all of his powerpoint presentations. The class is very easy if you practice the material he gives you. Mr. Suttle also has a great sense of humor! Professor Suttle was a great teacher, really down to earth, and also a fair grader. I walked away from that class with a 3.8 and a new respect for history. If you come to class everyday, pay mild attention, study the guides he gives you then you will do perfectly on the tests.

Great professor! Taught everything very clearly and works hard to make sure everyone gets their questions answered. Tests can be a little difficult, but he gives specific notes to study which helps a great deal. Overall a great class which I enjoyed very much.

Mr. Suttle makes history come to life in his class with jokes, personal stories and awesome presentations. He really wants his students to learn the material and connect with the past! Mr. Suttle was a very entertaining lecturer, in addition to his clarity, helpfulness, and ease of communication and presentation. If you follow the clearly outlined course guidelines, read the text, and make a consistent study effort before tests it would be very hard not to succeed in his class.

Mr. Suttle has actually helped me develope a deep love of history! Sounds nerdy but yes its true. He gives you study terms that you need to know for the test, which are VERY helpful. He is always happy, and he truly wants his students to succeed. This class is all memorization and because its so interesting...it is quite a simple task :)

Mr suttle is a nice man but his tests are impossible. He cares more about what you learn than your grade in the class which is good in some cases, but not when you're failing.

I really admire this man. He loves his history. His tests can be a little hard when he falls behind schedule and gets a little disorganized. But overall the classes I've had with him were fantastic!

I respect this man more highly than any other teacher I have ever had. As long as you pay attention and maintain the very few homework assignments there are you should have no problem at all. Mr. Suttle is an amazing teacher. He makes history fun and has helped me do better in the class. I like his power points(very helpful for my visual needs). Reading the book before coming to class helps, but I also found a DVD on history I like and is more engaging and easier to remember what's happening. ALWAYS check Suttle's website.

Mr. Suttle has been my favorite teacher EVER! His tests are somewhat difficult, but guys.... He gives you a study guide with literally EVERYTHING thats gonna be on the test. I make flashcards out of the vocab he provides and pass every time. Its pretty much a complete lecture class but he gives you the notes so you don't have to write a ton! Great!

I've taken him for three classes now and passed each class. If you make flashcards for each of his tests then you will pass it easily. He gives you almost all the vocab that will be on the test and he's very passionate about what he teaches. College is meant to be difficult, it's not high school folks. Challenge yourself and take a course form him.

Professor Suttle is a great teacher who actually cares for those who actually try and want to learn. His lectures can be funny and serious depending on the time period. He's one of the few who actually loves 25their subject they teach about. My first test grade I received a C, it's not easy. I would recommend study sessions prior to the tests.

Suttle's a pretty great teacher. He provides outlines for the in-class notes on his website; if you fill in the blanks and study the outline before each test, you'll secure a pretty good grade. He also gives you a choice with your textbooks, and provides ways to get them for cheap.

LOVE Mr. Suttle. He cares so much for his students and will do just about anything it takes to help them out. This is not a difficult class if you practice good study habits. I have taken two classes from him and have never failed a class. He is so funny and interesting and I HIGHLY recommend him!

Mr. Suttle is the hardest teacher i have ever had, but it was also the best class i have ever taken. He is tough, but that is because he truly cares that you learn something. If you want it easy, do not take Mr. Suttle's class, but if you want to learn some amazing facts, then tale his class. If you work for it, you will have the best time.

It would be impossible to be a better teacher than Mr. Suttle. He goes to extreme lengths to make learning as easy as possible. With that said, you do have to put in some effort in order to succeed. However, his class is considerably less work intensive than many classes because he only gives one or two homeowrk assignments over the entire quarter

Suttle's the best! He makes some spectacular presentations and also uses humor to make his class more enjoyable. The tests are pretty difficult, but if you study, you should do fine. There's also very little homework, and none of it is busy work. Also, I think a lot of people didn't read the textbook, but it helps a ton, so you should read it.

This class is your stereotypical college course. It consists of a lectureslideshow everyday except for exam day. The exams are every two week and are fairly difficult. However, if you take notes and study the vocab he provides pre-exam you will get a decent grade. Although the class average is a "C", HE DOES NOT CURVE.

Mr. Suttle is super organized! He has you print out the notes so you can follow along with the presentation and it makes it easier to pay attention. The tests are difficult so don't wait to study until the night before. Overall he enjoys what he teaches so the class wasn't too bad.

Attend class or you will not pass. That being said, his lectures are what will help. If you're there for an easy A, don't take it. If you want to actually learn something, I'd recommend him. He doesn't give out a ton of homework. Will give pop quizzes if you don't participate. There's a study guide. USE IT. And make flash cards. Books won't help.

He doesn't use canvas, however he has his own website. There was only like 2 assignments the entire quarter and he doesn't require textbooks. He hates cellphone use during his class. He uploads fill in the blank notes that can be printed to his website that corespond with his power points he presents during class.

Great guy and very enthusiastic about his subject. Funny, interesting lectures. Be prepared to attend, study, and tackle some large tests. He wants you to succeed and will give you every opportunity, if you put in the effort. Would take a class with him, 5 times over.

lectures the whole time but he does communicate with the class well. make sure you are ready to take notes and study. he asks really in depth questions so make sure you know the material!! I do remember most of what we learned and that was almost a year ago.

Awesome person to be around. Does an awesome job with his presentations! He sometimes puts funny questions on his tests that surprise students, easing the stress we sometimes get from tests! I would totally take his class again!

Suttle is a great teacher! Definitely gives you every chance to succeed, but you should study often. Grade is based on 6 tests, and the class is the poster child of lecture based. Would take his class many times over again.

Mr. Suttle is a great lecturer. He has the best communication with his students that I've experienced at this college, there is no question about what he expects. History after 1500s was one of the most challenging courses I've taken due to the extraordinary amount of information covered, but Mr. Suttle handled it in a very organized manner.

I took two classes with Mr Suttle and I loved both of them. He really enjoys history and teaches like he's just telling a story, and I really wish I could take another class with him. His classes are all lecture, and may be monotonous to some. Your grade is totally dependent on your tests, so study well. He always gives out thorough study guides.

I took both US 1 & US 2 with Mr. Suttle. His class was challenging, but it is a college class and it made me a better student. I learned how to study, and I got to hear lots of weird funny jokes. Super awesome teacher!

The type of teacher that if you don't come to class with questions, then he will quiz you. The quiz is short, 5 questions, and super simple. Yet still its just best to give him some questions. He is a great teacher, and really brings a human note to history class. He cried many times in class, and made you really think about how sad history is.....

Makes learning History fun and exciting. If you show up, take notes, and read the sections you are supposed to you will be well prepared for the tests.

This class really caused me to learn and become a better student, I realized what I was capable of. I had to work a little for my grade but with that I gained a lot of satisfaction in myself. Mr. Suttle made history exciting and added interesting elements constantly. He put a lot of effort into these classes and it showed. Great teacher.

Truly one of the greatest teachers I have ever had. In the 2 quarters I've had Mr. Suttle he's sincerely made me tear up a few times with the way he recounts stories from History. He inspired my career path (Education) to teach history and showed me exactly the kind of teacher I want to be some day. I hope that everyone see's his class the same way

Mr. Suttle the one of the best teacher Ive ever had. He is by far the best teacher in the department. Class is informative and ubiased where he lets historical fact to the talking. To pass the class print the notes and study them for an hour a day.

I enjoyed this class! He is truly passionate &amp; caring towards his students. I loved his lectures. Listening &amp; testing is LITERALLY the only thing you do in this class. DO NOT cram the night before. (Study at least 4 days prior to the test.) They are VERY in depth &amp; VERY important. His smiles after tests always made my day. Very smart &amp; sweet man.

He's super nice and a really great teacher. The only thing is that there aren't very many assignments so that means that you have to do really good on the tests. If you go back through the powerpoint and find all the terms on the study guide you should be find. A tip is to use command F and then search the term. Good Luck :)

Great professor, would definitely take his class again

Mr. Suttle is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is a very kind and respectful person. Most of the class is lecture based, but he is a very compelling story teller making the lessons quite interesting. His class is difficult, but it challenges you in a good way. Definitely recommend his class.

Great teacher, great guy. Missed class a few times very personal reasons. Tests are very hard, you MUST study. Focus on vocabulary review lists, it helps a lot. If you miss class, you miss A LOT of information.

Quirky professor. I think he prefers teaching in person rather than online. Course material is a bit disjointed as there are textbook readings and PowerPoint presentations on the professor's webpage. You will write a lot even though this course does not qualify as a writing-intensive course. Stock up on note cards for vocabulary terms.

Such a funny and kind-natured man. I wish he posted lecture videos for those who learn better that way because the textbook/PowerPoint presentations are what you will rely on for studying. An on-ground class with him would be more beneficial BUT no tests or exams! Just TONS of essays that will make you work more than a standard 5 unit course.
