Terrible teaching style. Needs to learn how to lighten up a bit and teach to a younger audience...just because he's old doesnt mean we are!! Maybe retirement in the near future.......

He is honest one of the worst teachers I have ever had. Tests are poorly designed, he is rude to student and makes jokes that are in extreamly bad taste.

Horrible teacher! Someone somewhere gave him his DR. of biology and unfortunately he teaches at that level even to us 101 students. Tests are horrible, he can't lecture and his syllabus looks like it was written by a 7th grader. AVOID this teacher if you want to pass or understand biology!

Mr.Timm is a nice person. He goes on wild tangents too much. And unless you can learn the material outside of class you're doomed on the tests. He won't give the answers on his study guides and hardly teaches the material. If you get the wrong answers on the study guide, and unless you have someone to ask to see if you're right, you fail the test.

Ok, really nice guy. Pretty funny and totally a space cadet but a horrible teacher. He sets you up to fail. He gives you way too many questions top study for at one time and he doesn't ever teach you the info. he goes off on irrelavent rants and tangents and if you ask him for help, he tells you to suck it up. Really though, great person bad person

Tip for doing well on tests: type in any sentence found in the study guide- you'll find that 80% of his questions are lifted directly from online AP tests, other teachers' study guides, etc. Kinda crazy: he made 2 mistakes on a test- I brought them up- he threatened to fail me (yet still announced the corrections)- ended up with a 3.5

This guy sucks. The other reviews talk about him being a nice, funny guy, harmless, etc. That's great if I'm looking for someone to watch my dog while I'm on vacation, but if he can't teach, what good is he to me? His lectures are horrible, homework unclear, makes you feel stupid if you ask a question, then tells you to look it up in the book!

Mr. Timm is the worst teacher I had ever had. I had him for Biology 101. His quizes were straight off the internet and when I brought his faults on certain questions, he threatened to fail me, and he did I ended up a .9 and if he hadn't just gotten his ten year he would have been fired because most of the other bio teachers and deans want him gone.

He is very weird and disorganized but tests are very easy. Study guide IS the test, so his class isn't that hard to pass. You just have to have A LOT of patience!!!!

He has a PhD and he talks like it. 99% of the people in his classes cannot understand what he is talking about. He talks down to students yet doesn't look at himself.

Appeared out of his knowledge comfort zone, rude to students who dared asked questions. Not prepared for class, retalitory and somewhat vindictive

He is a smart man, and he wants to prove this by not breaking down principles into blocks of knowledge students can understand. He tries to relate to students but fails. He is very vindictive. Try to stay on his good side. He gets very defensive if he feels attack and then stops listening to students. Talks behind students backs to other students

My experience: He displayed a poor attitude toward students in general-seemed to expect that they want to be spoon-fed or are out to 'stab him in the back.' Look out for grading errors, but be careful in choosing what you confront him about as he becomes _very_ defensive. Sadly, I would not take a class from him again or recommend him to others.

He is by far the worst ever. He is an okay guy...until you have a question on how he graded your test. I asked him, and he called me immature and childish, just because he was VERY unclear about what he wanted. After our first test, one girl who pulled a 4.0 in both A&P Classes actually got the highest grade, a 71%.

He never gets to the point and when he tries to nothing ever makes sense. He says on tests to keep it smart and simple but when you do he marks you down for not writing enough...don't take the class!

Worst teacher that I have ever had and I have a college degree from WSU. I decided recently to go back to school for nursing and he made me feel like it was the worst decision I have ever made- talk about not motivating the students!!! I am taking it form another teacher and will excell in nursing school. He's a jerk.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! you absolutely will not pass with George Timm as your teacher. he does not explain anything at all, his tests are extremely difficult, he is condescending, rude, and snappy, and this is the only class in three years that I haven't passed. Save $500 and don't take the class with Timm because you will have to retake it

it is impossible to do well in this class. he wants you to fail. he has some serious issues from his childhood or something and is out to screw you over in any way he can. I seriously hate this man.

I should have listened to all of the people who warned me about him. I am one of those people who got a 4.0 in A&P and I can't get over a 76% on his tests. We basically get the test beforehand (he calls it a study guide) so it should be easy. But he makes the test too tricky. He is awful. Cannot teach!!! Take at SCC.

smart man, really, really bad instructor. i understood the material by reading the text book but his lectures just made it more confusing and I failed two exams before withdrwaing. Do not take this class with this guy if you want above a 3.0. i assure you it is impossible. i can count the number of studnets who were passing on one hand

If you can find any other teacher please do! He likes to throw his opinions in your face, if you make a mistake he let's the whole class know, you can quote him word for word and still get the answer wrong. He gave us study guides and after filling them all out, I still failed the test. It's ridiculous he is still teaching.

Terrible teacher, Allowed notes on final then during final flipped out on people that were using notes... Doesn't know what he wants on essay questions so you will never get them right. He doesn't actually teach you anything and the labs are totally irrelevant to the material

Do not take this class!!! He makes students feel stupid and degrades them. Go to SCC some of the staff will even tell you not to take this course here!!!

By far the worst teacher I've ever had. I already have my B.A., but took his Intro to Microbiology course out of interest - bad decision. We started with 28 people in the class and it ended with 7 - none of which passed. Take Micro at SCC, as you will learn something and get treated fairly.

A supper ball trapped in a plexiglass box. He is all over the place. Impossible to follow and tooo much senseless information. If I hear mention of the 5th element or Bruce Willis one more time I may expire. If you like lecture and aren't into text books this is not the class for you. And if you have to take Micro, go to SCC.

This man is a horrible teacher. How does a professor who brags about shooting guinea pigs out of a contraption and making his classes so hard they are impossible to pass, still have a job? Shame on you Mr. Timm! You will have to answer to a higher being someday!

His lectures make the topics seem rather simple at times, but this is most definitely not the case. His tests are often excruciatingly difficult, and often cover materials not discussed in the texts or class. He does not cater to students needs in any way, and is the least bit helpful.

If you need to take this class as a prereq I suggest taking it at another local college (he's the only micro techer @SFCC). He's the WORST teacher I've ever had. He's extremely confusing, doesn't follow the book, inconsistant grading, rude. You may be a straight A student but you will NOT receive one in his class even if you deserve it!

Do not take class with him. Expects you to know material already. Study guides are available, but his tests are over the top hard. Doesn't follow study guides. Cracks rude jokes. Likes to kill animals and talks about it all the time. Labs quizzes are just as hard as his tests. Bottom line, don't take any classes with this guy.

This instructor is inconsiderate and rude. On more than one occasion I was verbally abused in front the entire class when i was the only student attempting to answer is indirect and confusing questions.

This class is deceptively difficult. Do not take this class if you are continuing on in Biology.

Mr. Timm is extremely unorganized and very hard to follow in class. I spend most of my studying time trying to figure out what to study. He writes up and hands out notes for each lecture, but doesn't follow the notes at all. He ends up just confusing me more than anything else. If you have to take his class... GOOD LUCK.

Do Not take this Professor unorganized, Lab never worked!!! I didn't know what the test was over. I studied the book WAY wrong, I studied his confusing notes and lecture (pointless) way wrong. Doesn't answer question. Don't answers his he will say you are wrong and tell you why you are wrong, in fornt of the whole class.

DO NOT TAKE!! The most horrible instructor. Seems like he talks gibberish most of the time. I am going to RETAKE this class at SCC with either Bassett or Ryan...What a waste of money taking it with this instructor. very disapointed

Horrible, just the worst absolute instructor I have taken. He does NOT listen to his students, nor does he act like he cares. I learned more by researching online and reading other Micro books.

Very difficult teacher. He gets off topic often and he has many different sources that he uses for the class so it is really hard to study for his tests because you don't know where to study from.

Mr. Timm is a HORRIBLE instructor. DO NOT TAKE his class. He is rude to his students. A massive amount of homework that really contributes a small amount to your overall grade. Tests are not related to material covered in a clear way. No matter how much I studied I failed every single test. 3 people passed his tests out of 37 in the class.

Trust me when I say this, Professor Timm is a horrible professor. His lectures are all over the place and monotone. Labs are okay but his grading system is suspicious. My last test had material that wasn't in the textbook nor was it covered in class. He has a terrible attitude and he'll tell you get out of his face when you ask for help.

This class is a waste of your time never in my entire academic career (3 years of college not SFCC) have I ever had such an un professional professor who not only spends half of your class time talking about himself and his German grandpa but he will cut you short on material you should be learning and he wont teach you proper lab techniques.

He is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. He mumbles, bearly tells you what you need to know, and doesn't even know what is on the online homework he gives us. Recommendation, never ever under any circumstances take his class.

I'm a great student, I read and do the hw, and I am barely passing this class. He is confusing, very unclear when it comes to grading and lectures, hostile and defensive when we ask questions. There are like, eight of us left in this class. Maybe he's a tenured prof, otherwise I can't understand why SFCC still allows him to teach. It's that bad.

Lectures on and on while his train of thought derails, all while mumbling. Since class started he has told the same fart joke every class session. The classwork is entirely online and he has no input in it. So while homework for chapter 3 was due Friday, he was still teaching last week's work. In order to pass you will need to teach yourself.

This probably should have been an easy class, except the teacher is really vague and too lazy to use easy access students sites. He sent out emails and not everyone would get them and he would become upset when they didnt tell him about not recieveing emails they didnt know about

Ridiculous. Be prepared to teach yourself Biology via YouTube or khan Academy. Unprepared, passed out the wrong worksheets, discussed politics, military career and tv sitcoms. Never followed a format or textbook. Don't bother purchasing textbook - even the online textbook homework didn't have the correct chapters listed. Tests were awful.

*AVOID AT ALL COSTS* If you must take him: laugh at his jokes, ignore his profanity, don't be late, don't ask questions in class. His lectures are abysmal. Your only hope is to read the book, do the written and online homework, and the dynamic study modules. Be prepared for taxing and useless study guides IF offered. Jokes about formal complaints.

Professor was not helpful with what to study for for tests. If you ask for help he basically says you should have school figured out by this point in your life. Lectures and tests are all over the place

If you are taking this class for a nursing credit find another teacher. He doesn't lecture on what he tests on and is rude to the students, off topic a lot.

Good luck asking him a question, because he will interrupt you halfway through your sentence with something either irrelevant to what you were asking, or something very rude and unnecessary. Constantly criticizes the class for not remembering specific things from anatomy. Purposefully makes us feel like we aren't good enough for a nurse program.

If only there was more than one Microbiology professor. I could complain about him all day but it wouldn't do anything considering that this school will not get rid of him. He has had so many people complain about him and even tells us about it in order to defend himself.

Where to begin? The first day we watched a religious creationist video from a junior high home-schooling program to explain taxonomic classification. Told the same story of his wounded guinea pig every day instead of teaching us. Grading was a complete mystery as he didn't post on Canvas. Ever. Openly "joked" he hated us and his "worthless" degree.

His lectures were hard to follow because he goes on tangents about off-topic subjects. Tests were often not reflective of the material taught in class, and took up to three hours to complete. Overall I found this class frustrating and would suggest taking it from someone else.

Nice fellow most days, but the most confusing professor I have ever taken. Rude comments as feedback, verbally and written on tests. Lectures are hard to follow, so I just read in the back most days so I didn't completely waste my time. I really enjoyed lab, and felt like I learned something there. Tests very detail oriented.

If other biology professors are as bad as he is we are screwed to the max. Tests had nothing to with the lecture subjects, the lecture subjects where made clear at the beginning of class but he would rant about something else unrelated 95% of the time. I stopped attending after the first 4 weeks and have to retake this class.

Is never prepared for labs so he spends most of class time running around the room, trying to set things up while the class sits there doing nothing. He makes weird comments and is easily agitated when students question him or even ask questions. Timm is not good at explaining the material and goes on unrelated tangents. Truly frustrating.
