very funny guy. explane things very clarely.
He loves the beatles, his class is easy if you show up and take good notes, otherwise your screwed. But the map tests are so easy its a joke.
A very fun teacher, funny too. I really enjoyed his class. Don't worry about his map tests, they really are not that bad.

He is the best teacher ever!
WALKER FOR PRESIDENT!
Hilarious teacher. He likes to make jokes and you always laugh in his class. As long as you take notes and study you will get a good grade. He is not that hard.
He is very nice teacher who wants you to get a good grade, so just show up to class and takes notes, that's the key!
this class is all about world happenings. Walker is a great, funny teacher. Active do-gooder and installs that in his class. His map quizzes arent bad, but the midterms are kinda hard. You have to pay VERY careful attention to everything and take notes to do well on those.
This class goes arounds and examines many of the regions of the world. He encourages his students to have an opinion, and often shares his! The material covered is interesting, and I have learned a lot. (NOTE: He likes good handwriting! Makes him happy when grading essays!)
very straight forward and helpful
One of my favorite teachers! He is not boring and hes also very funny! I totally recommend him.
took 100 with rosell first and didnt do well then it tried walker's class and it well so well i took another class with him awsome teacher with great views would take again if he starts a new course
Great teacher. Very easy going, very interested in helping, enthusiastic about subject, very nice. Took this class online- map quizzes easy, module quizzes a little bit more difficult but you have a lot of time to complete! As long as you keep up on the reading (kind of a lot) you'll do great.
Funny British teacher, but not well organized. His lectures can be kinda random and he tends to go on and on about stuff that isn't relavent to the topic. He cusses a lot too. He's nice, but not a teacher I would want to take from again. The multiple choice parts of his tests are hard to prep for.
This guy is funny, blunt, and really developes the whole picture of how geography applies to so many aspects of daily life...ways you wouldn't even think of before taking his course. LISTEN, TAKE NOTES, and ask him if you don't understand something. This pretty much guarentees an A.
Hilarious.. he may go off-topic a lot, but it's always for a good laugh. He draws a lot of helpful diagrams and pictures to explain stuff. Go to class everyday, listen to his lectures, they aren't that bad.
Very fun teacher, can seem a bit disorganized but he covers all that needs to be covered, makes learning fun. just make sure you take good notes and youll get an a or b
He's very humorous and that makes teh lectures fun...oh and we get to watch videos! :-)
online class is not easy at all.........very hard final exam.....

he's the****
He's a pretty awesome teacher. Hella funny and cusses some of the time. He lectures pretty much everyday, but he's not boring to listen to, map quizzes every friday. HElla easy..something you could do in the 5th grade. Just take ALOT OF NOTES. VERY EASY CLASS! would take from again.
You must have alot or interest to actually enjoy this class. Though he does teach quite abit, learned alot. Although the course work is easy. Teachers pretty good, kind of funny. (and oddly almost every friday we didn't have class)
Basically, he was pretty easy, gave a lot of quizzes. The only thing was that he was 5-10min late every day for class.
he was one of the best teachers that i have ever had. you will learn alot in his class. he knows alot about his lessones.if you listen in class and take note you will be fine.
He is so nice. Very helpful, and lectures are not boring at all. I really recommend him as a teacher!
I really like his class. His lecture is a lot of fun. 50 mins is very short. I learn a lot from his lecture. I am sure that I will take other his class again!
the BEST teacher at BCC, highly recommended.
a very nice guy, got nice sense of humor, and delivers the materials in such a way that it is enjoyable. Gives lots of quiz, but they are easy. Tests are not that easy, but he is quite generous in giving you extra credit. Great teacher overall, reccommended.
He is really cool, makes his lectures enjoyable! In the beginning of the quarter and throughout, his sense of humor is fabulous. Not a hard class, but you learn a lot. He makes you do the work that is actually worthwhile, just complete all of the assignments and study for the quizzes. Very highly recommended, take him if you get a chance!
best teacher at BCC, really cares about you doing well, and helping you to create your own opinion about the world today. A+++++++ teacher. Take his classes!!!
Great teacher, often goes off topic but its fun to hear his interesting stories. Love the british accent, makes you wanna doze off and sleep. I highly recommend.
He has no system at all. All he needs is good organisation of his lectures. It's an absolute mess. Students were sleepy all the time. I didn't like this class.
Take notes on EVERYTHING HE SAYS and you'll do fine. Do the practice quizzes well and you'll ace the class.
Greatest teacher ever. Most of his lectures were interesting, but he often repeated things. All that is needed to do well is just study once a week for his short quizzes.
Very friendly and funny. Great teacher with a cool British accent. Clear on what's on the quizes and has open note chapter tests.
loved his impersonations..."Hullooo"
George is hands down the greatest teacher @ BCC. lectures are very colorful and humerous. His immitations crack me up. very helpful when you just ask. he's dedicated to helping you learn and pass. You actually feel good after his class. very charming British accent and personality... he's a footballer ;)
One of the best teachers in BCC. Very helpful and fun. I learned a lot from his classes, and loved his British accent and voice. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
Often went off on tangents, the content of which later appeared on tests. But not hard if you do the work, and semi-interesting.
Alright class. Lectures are usually fairly interesting, but not relevant to what you are tested on. Wording on exams is difficult to understand even if you study a fair amount. The exams are open notes but your notes usually don't help much. The map quizzes are easy, you just need to study for a hour or so each week.
Such a nice man! The weekly map quizzes are a little hard but if you really study you'd be surprised at how many rivers and cities you can really remember. He cares about Geography and cares about his students getting good grades.
Excellent Instructor. If you are someone who likes to learn and laugh this Walker is the man for that. Because of his class my awareness of world affairs is much higher than it was prior to the class. I have taken 3 of his classes thus far and loved all of them. Overall very affective instructor.
Alright class. map quizz every friday- 25 questions out of around 100. clarity on HW isn't great, doesn't right it down. Open note tests/ doesn't really help. Tests are kind of off topic with odd wording. He's VERY FUNNY though! No extra credit and odd scoring. Teaches in his own way and hard to determine test topics. No class review.
Mr. Walker covers lots of ground and makes the journey a pleasant one. Good teacher, a bit goofy at times, funny and entertaining. Lots of opportunities for extra credit and exams are easy enough.
He is one of the funniest instructors in BCC. Very helpful and not too difficult. Highly recommended
funny, knowledgeable, great professor! everyone loves him!
Mr. Walker is a nice dude and his class was fun. I liked when he talked about the Lexuses.... :)
You won't regret if you take him. It's an easy class and you get to use your noted on the mid-term. Homework is very little and he grades with absolute fairness to all. Very funny so you definetley will like attending class but not mandatory.
I took this class online. It was a fairly easy grade, had a number of extra assignments to complete on top of the reading. I would recommend this class to anyone who is interested in learning world geography or someone who needs an easy social science grade. My wife took this class also, but it was at school and said he has a great personality.
Great teacher brings geog to life. Very funny guy. Makes going to class fun and enjoyable. very passionate about topic. Will make anything interesting. Take his class at least once to finalize your BCC experience.
Mr. Walker is an awesome Teacher! He is hilarious and makes Geography no boring. Geog. 205 was hard and I would have not gotten any out of it if Mr. Walker hadn't grabbed our attentions. Mr. Walker if you can read this, then I think YOU DA MAN!!!!! Also he's fair in grading you.
Seems to be primarily for RunningStart students; Yes, wording can be problematic in textbooks and tests; Important topics are saved for homework while class time is used for odd tangents or reading out of the text; Take this if you're embarrassed when you can't point out major areas of conflict on a map; As a person, he's well-traveled and lovely.
The best teacher I've ever had.Such a great man, very kind, helpful and open minded. Also a fair grader. He has a sense of humor and makes the class very interesting. Thanks a lot Mr. Walker.
Easy A, nice guy, very helpful, likes to make jokes!
EWU@BCC Class was easy but boring. Class went on for ever and it was boring. Just show up to class and you will be fine. Finial and Midterm are open notes. Map quiz each week
Online class, 5 tests total and an essay at the end of quarter. SUPER easy, no stress, no worries, very helpful. If you want to know some fun stuff, get your GPA up, or need the credit do take. Want a challange? Leave it, too easy.
Mr. Walker is an awesome teacher! He is one of the best teachers at BCC!! You can learn many things from his class. He is very helpful and funny because he loves joke!! You would enjoy his class and notice Geography is very interesting!! His class is absolutely worth!!
Funny, adds in off topic but nice to know tidbits, really makes the class interesting. It's easy to forget you're learning.
Very funny teacher, but lack of clarity. Map quiz every monday. It's very easy class but the test are hard. Need to take note in class and some question was never see.
This class is a waste of time. Walker doesn't teach anything, he just rambles on and on about some little story that rarely has anything to do directly with geography. He tests on random unimportant facts that you have no way of knowing are going to be on a test. If you ask him to clarify instructions he simply repeats what he said before.
So dumb. He wrote the textbook, so you only get his view of things, which by and large, is socialist. Not only that, his writing is so poor that my mom said he would not pass her high school level English class. His book even contains made up words, such as "whilst" and has so many exclamation points that I forgot what a period looks like.
he sucks! classes were boring. but you had to go there in case he changed the topic of your homework. he doesnt care his students at all! and you have you buy HIS OWN BOOK! which is a really boring book...
I'm appalled at the negative comments! Walker is a hilarious guy, very approachable, and his projects are very open-ended. Map quizes every Monday require a couple of hours a week, but that's really the only homework. He knows what he's doing which made his class very easy to pay attention to and allowed me to learn quite a bit. Highly Reccomended.
not a good teacher. very boring, lecture only class time that you have to go to since he throws in random unimportant things that might be on the test. goes off on random tangents. he wrote the textbook you use and its less of a textbook and more of a poorly written opinion piece. quizzes on locations but you never go over where they are in class
Great teacher! Will teach you essential topics every intelligent person should know. Map quizez every Monday, they require two-three hours of self-study every week.
You dont need to study the textbook because he's not gonna test u anything about the textbook..actually..i did not know what he has taught!
Nice Guy
Mr. Walker is a FABULOUS teacher. Well rounded prof, great class content, multi-cultural view and he has a genuine interest in teaching. Geog of World Affairs is a GREAT class. Walker gets you to think for yourself, he plays devils advocate a lot. His textbooks are useful and class lecture is thoughtprovoking and useful for tests. GREAT GUY.
One of the worst teachers at BC. He wrote the books and they're basically his opinions and a couple pieces of data. Doesn't teach us anything useful and constantly bashed the US and says how much better Britian is. ALL THE TIME. Never prepared us for tests. Would not recommend at all.
LOVED THE CLASS! Walker is a great prof. Loved the accent, political comments, and most material covered in class. The work wasn't too difficult. Lots of busy work/memorization for the weekly map quizzes. Material on the midterm and final was mostly from notes. Textbook wasn't used frequently. It's an easy A if you attend class daily to get notes!
What a great teacher! He's fun to listen to and really makes the class fun. Just follow the schedule and go to class and you'll get an A.
Mr. Walker is a Fantastic teacher! For most classes, he shares personal stories which surprisingly tie into the lesson he is teaching. His stories are fun to listen to too. Is a very funny, no BS professor. Study for the map quizzes, and be prepared for mid-term and final. They are hard! If you don't study. Answers he is looking for are in the book
I like his lecture but he talks about his own story a lot. You should study for the map quiz every week. It's hard to be prepared for exams because he never uses his textbooks.
HE DOESN'T TEACH ANYTHING DURING CLASS; SPENDS TIME TALKING ABOUT HIS PERSONAL STORIES THE WHOLE TIME. HE DOES NOT PREPARE YOU FOR MIDTERMS AND FINALS. TESTS ARE HARD BECAUSE HE DOES NOT TEACH YOU THE MATERIAL.
Horrible professor. Only talks about his personal life which is not relevant to the course material. Uses outdated videos which are useless. Very biased, and it shows in both his lectures and his textbook (which was extremely poorly written and not worth the money I was forced to pay for it). Doesn't prepare you for tests and gives no homework.
Took the class online so there isnt much to it. 1 module test every other week and a final. There are weekly extra credit discussions. I had trouble finding the test answers in the text, the tests are 25 multiple choice questions worth 4 points each so they can be very hard since they are your whole grade. Walker communicates well via blackboard to
I love this guy! His stories are so fun, and relevent. Study for the map quizzes every friday. Take good cheat sheet notes! I didn't have to come to class, but i did anyways because he is so freaking awesome! You wont regret taking this easy easy A+ class! It's so interesting too, learned a lot. Never thought i would like the subject, but i do now!
Great teacher. Really enjoyed taking this class with him. I have learned a lot so far and I already plan on taking another class from him next quarter. Just read the book and you will do fine.
At first, I thought coming to class was a total WASTE OF TIME. Most the time he just tells stories about the past, but they are really helpful to what is going to be on the midterm. He goes over each chapter in the book even though you dont know so. It really helps to come to class to be prepared for the midterm. Come to class or learn on your own.
Online. Volume to read/review got pretty heavy mid-semester and tests often on obscure info, so you MUST read it all in detail. Review each week's module Q's to do well. BUT, be forewarned - he expects multiple pieces of data in your essay responses, so prep ahead of quiz/exam. Almost no interaction online except grading essay responses.
He is real helpful, very easy to talk to and if you attend his class and take notes in the lectures, you will pass the tests and finals. Now the map quizzes take memorization. Just stay focused and you will pass. Also he is kind of a comedian.
I like his personality. This class was more difficult than my other classes, but definitely worth it. He is able to expand your worldview, not only lecturing based on the material.
amazing online teacher. had a set of class notes, case studies and additional readings for each test.. 5 tests total, and he pretty much gives you all the information you'll ever need to succeed in the class.. no need to actually buy the map packet and what not.. always responds to mail and posts grades promptly. overall amazing prof!
One of the worst professors I have taken at BC. Was not interested in students' views or discussion and primarily spouted off on supposedly witty anecdotes, ludicrous statistics, and his political agenda. To succeed: memorize stats/numbers on the study guide and regurgitate as many as you can in the essays. Multiple choice is random and difficult.
Online class is very easy. Takes a bit to get the hang of but everything that is in the 5 multiple choice tests can be found in his writings online. 4 map quizzes take some work but theres only five required 150 word/50 word response discussions. He grades instantly and easily. Very pleasant and easy online class.
A VERY good teacher, funny & oddly quirky. Friday map tests are sometimes hard: you get a blank map & list of 25 country/city names, & geolog names (Mt. Fuji, Straits of Georgia)to identify on the map. Study list is long: 50 to 90+ names; do need to study. He wants everyone to do well. Talk to him if you're having trouble.
A VERY good teacher, funny & oddly quirky. Friday map tests are sometimes hard: you get a blank map & list of 25 country/city names, & geolog names (Mt. Fuji, Straits of Georgia)to identify on the map. Study list is long: 50 to 90+ names; NEED to study. Likes to include the views of international students in class when we get to their countries.
Love this man. Love his British accent and wisdom. He tends to goes off topic a lot into his personal adventures, which can be funny sometimes. But his lectures are clear. Just study for the map quiz every week and read the chapters when they're assigned; chapters are not very long.
George is a total sweetheart of a teacher- he truly has a personality, and cares about his students. If I wasn't graduating I would take all of his other classes!
Very nice teacher, friendly and tells lots of stories about his world travels. Map quiz every week, exams are multiple choice with study guides provided. He goes out of his way to make international students feel included, sometimes too far it can get irritating. Absolutely recommended
The online class is easy and straight forward, but there's quite a bit of reading for the exams. Also the questions on the exams are very precise, so you have to search for the key words of the question throughout the readings to know the right answer. Each question on the exam is worth a lot of points, so if you mess up, it'll screw up your grade!
Good basic geography class for use as a general requirement. I took the online class. Fairly easy and straight forward. Lots of reading and memorization. Some extra credit options are available to use just in case you blow it in the first couple of weeks. Five open book tests, 10 map quizzes, and 50 pts extra credit via online discussions.
Pretty easy grader however the assignments were very confusing and took a little bit to figure out how to do it. Other than that he is pretty easy!
GW is very clear and knowledgeable on his teachings. He is also very funny and a fair grader. Although, his tests sometimes have questions that he didn't mention on lectures and some errors in his test answer keys. But overall, he is a good teacher.
Hes a great teacher and very easy! He allows notes on the mid/final plus he offers extra credit at the end of the quarter. Half way through he does get a bit boring but ultimately he just wants you to succeed in his class.
Walker is overall a good teacher. He lectures every class which after a while gets boring but oh well. He allows notes on the midterm and final. He offers extra credit at the end of the quarter. He likes to offer life advice during his class which sometimes I feel wastes the class time but it gives you a break from the lectures.
The best geography 105 teacher, hes nice and funny and hes from Brittan. If your a more laid back student he usually allows 2 pages (double sided) on the midterm and final. BUT you have to SHOW UP for CLASS! He knows everyone by first name and tries to know a but about you. Nevertheless hes a GREAT teacher i would recommend to anyone :)
When he told our class that the final was the powerpoint slides on his site and be able to write down on two pages front and back for a study me and most of the class started coming Monday when we had Map quizzes and Fridays when our essays were due. Do the extra credit! It will pay off in the end.
Great instructor, nice and funny! Grading is fair, 5 maps, 5 essays, mid-term/final with 2 paper notes. Take his class, and you'll learn a lot!
Easy class, very funny British guy. Made the dullest subject in my personal opinion into something I really enjoyed. Would happily take this class again, or have him as my professor. There's really no reason for you not to take him.
GW's class is awesome! I enjoyed his class, although I rarely come into class. As long as you do well on his map quizzes and come to class often, you'll definitely get an A!
He is just way too good, enough said.
First teacher in college, the most awesome since. Best guy in the building!
Best teacher I have ever had! He makes it feel as if I'm not even in a classroom, with stories about his own travels and plenty of visuals for us to use, the class is fun, and not at all too demanding. While I still feel like I'm getting something from it.
GW keeps the class very entertained, and we learn a lot from the scenarios that he gives.
BEST INSTRUCTOR EVER. VERY INTELLECTUAL, KEEPS THE CLASS INTERESTED, INFORMATIVE POWERPOINTS. VERY USEFUL INFORMATION THAT I CAN TAKE THROUGH LIFE. WISH HE WAS MY INSTRUCTOR FOR ALL THE CLASSES. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS CLASS.
GW is lots of fun. My only complaint is he did not give clear expectations on our first paper.
Its the map quizzes I cant stand them half of the places he doesn't tell us to study! and you dont need to go to the class to pass
GW is the best teacher that I have so far at Bellevue college. You will learn a lot from his class. He is hilarious teacher. I would definitely recommend him.
Extremely nice guy, but his teaching style can be a bit boring sometimes because his classes are all lectures. Understanding and forgiving if you're willing to communicate with him. Overall, pretty fair class but the study materials were unclear for the final exam. Easy weekly quizzes. You'll do fine as long as you study.
G-Dub is one of the funniest professors I've ever had. He makes class fun to come to and you end up learning a lot.
Great guy. Hilarious, funny and nice. Full of knoledge and good stories. Take a class with him!
Excellent Prof. Genuinely cares. Engages with students- promotes learning, makes extra effort, lectures very interesting. Hands down best prof- wish full GIS prog offered. If you can- take his classes! Will not be disappointed! Impossible to do poorly. Extra time and credit if struggling, but seriously- not a concern. Can't say enough good things
Most of the class time he spent talking about his experiences and personal stories. I suppose it was interesting to some but extremely boring to me. Tests are based on his ppts. Fairly easy class. Nice guy though.
Professor Walker is so kind and are ready to help you if you have a problem. Take Geography with him and you will never regret!!!!!!!!!!! Very kind and smart.
He is the best teacher at Bellevue College. His class is not easy but very interesting. If you want to get A and ready to study just take his class. You can get feedback from this instructor and learn a lot. Highly recommended.
I disturb Mr Walker so much during the quarter. I really appreciate his patience. He is the best instructor. Unfortunately , I can take only two courses with him. The best class and the best teacher. He is so understandable especially with non-native speakers.
Excellent professor. Super funny and enjoyable. His class is simple and straightforward. He is passionate about Geography. I highly recommend him.
One of the best online classes ever. Easy A. Straight-forward and did I mention the best teacher?
I took Geog 205 in summer and Geog 100 in fall. I cannot say that GW's classes so easy. Maybe I'm not native speaker but I can say only that these were the best classes for me as well as enjoyable classes. I appreciate GW's help and patience. He responds to your e-mails very quick and tries to answer all your questions. Perfect @ interesting class.
GW is the best prof. at Bellevue! He is very helpful and his class is very clear. All of his classes are lecture style and aside from the quizzes, all you have to do is post to a discussion board online. Take this class if you want an easy A. He's also a funny guy.
George Walker is one of the nicest teachers you will ever have and along with that he is a very knowledgable teacher. His geography 105 class is hybrid and you meet two days and the work load is not heavy at all so you can take this class if you are taking a core class or two. He will always understand your situation if you have to miss class.
Professor George Walker is the most inspiring professor I have had in my now 4 quarters here at Bellevue College. His passion for Geography is admirable, and he loves what he does. I have had Prof. Walker for Intro to Geography and Intro to Globalization and he is amazing. I am taking GEOG 205 this summer with him. Extraordinary professor
This teacher was useless. I didn't learn anything and this professor was completely rude whenever I asked him any question about the course. He made everything confusing and kept changing the requirements. I do not recommend this class if you want an easy A.
I've had Professor Walker for 3 quarters of Geography 100/123, and 205, and can't say enough about him. He is such a wonderful professor who goes out of his way to make sure you have fun and succeed in his class. Always willing to help in anyway he can. Thoroughly enjoyed his class on Weather and Climate Change.
Most assignments are graded a system, he grades your discussions and that is about it. If often gives out a lot of extra credit, so if you are worried about your grade make sure you do the extra credit! He is really nice and will always respond to your emails as quick as possible. Pretty straight forward class.
He lectures through the class period but they are pretty interesting. Attendance is worth more than the final, so be there (high is ok).He gives a midterm and final which aren't big enough to completely fail you. Beware, the tests are difficult so you need to study almost every slide on his powerpoints to do okay. Funny british guy, very friendly.
I took this class online and it was pretty straightforward! Easy A and up to 45 points of extra credit, so don't fret if you do badly on the map quizzes and exams. Exams are a bit difficult though - some answers I had to look up on google. Discussions are easily graded! Also, don't buy the paperback textbook.. you won't be using it. GW was helpful!
Wish I could use all the good tags. Best teacher I've ever had. Added the chili pepper because of a joke that was going through the class that quarter...;) Never taken his online classes, but in person, he's amazing. Very funny, helpful, and clear with what he wants. I would definitely take his class again!
Great bloke, took a hybrid class with him. His lectures are fascinating and hilarious. If you know your maps well, you'll pass his class easily. There's also extra credit including for attendance. Just remember to take lots of notes for the tests.
Pretty chill dude. He thinks he's a bit funnier than he actually he is, but that's ok because he's actually really good at explaining concepts. They might be very basic concepts, but he is very thorough in explaining them and I'm sure he is very good in harder classes as well. Take him if you need the credit and an easy A. Never opened the book.
Overall I thought he was a pretty cool teacher, you could tell that he really cared about the subject. I wouldn't mind taking a class taught by him again.
A wonderfully funny Brit who goes by GW. Fair grader, and he grades by the British standards meaning 78%+ is a B, 90%+ is an A. One of the funniest profs you will have, tells you random travel stories and gives little live tips in the middle of lectures, but still manages to teach the material afterward. Uses his own online textbook, $35.
George Walker is a great professor. He is clear about the assignments. I learned a lot and enjoyed this class. It was interesting. His tests are open-note due to the wide variety of materials the questions are taken from. There are five modules, each with an exam. There are map quizzes every weekend. There is also a discussion for every module.
Tests are based on module assignments, if you do the modules, you'll easily get an A, a lot of time given to complete tests as well. I most definitely would take this class or another by the professor again.
For this online class there is a total of "7 modules" each with lectures and study guides, practice quizzes and then the final test over those chapters for the modules. Highly recommend doing the practice quizzes for there on the final test along with stuff from the textbook. Take good notes and study before hand and you will pass the class
He is the best Bellevue college teacher. His lecture is clear and you can understand easily. He also give extra credit and reminds you several times the days you have tests. He will make you love Geography. Take his class. Very helpful and fair teacher.
Professor Walker is awesome. He makes class fun, challenging and you'll learn a lot. He's very responsive to questions and it's clear that he is very knowledgeable about the subject matter. His passion for Geography comes through in his class notes and writings. He is one of the best professors I have had as I enter graduate school this summer.
I took Geography 105 from George Walker in Spring 2014. He has lots of knowledge and experience in the subject, but I didn't learn much in his class because all he did was talk about his experiences. We had online homework and quizzes, but we never went over the material in class. There's no point in going to class but he gives pts. 4 attendance.
I took him for GEOG 100 previously and just finished taking GEOG 205. Because I took it in summer qrtr, the workload is really divided into your own pace, so you have to make sure you're on top of things. I thought the class was relatively easy, but you have to absolutely do the modules because that's what the exams are based on!
George is an amazing teacher, with a lot of experience, this English man of great humor will introduce you to Natural Hazards and plate tectonics with side stories and participation, while making you laugh every day when he starts and ends the class with an inspirational insight. Listen very carefully and you'll do fine in tests! He's very helpful
The class grade was all exams. The class had practice quizzes that helped a lot before taking the Exams, some of them even had the exact questions from the practice quizzes on the exams.
He is a great lecturer. As long you study, attend the classes regularly, do all online quizzes and you will be fine. His lecturer is not boring and he don't read from slides but from his mind. Will be taking his class again for Geo 205 in coming quarter.
I took GEO 100 during the Summer Quarter. The only assignments we had were poorly designed, open book text book quizzes & 3 discussions. Prof Walker rarely uploaded grades & the final is a test he put together rather than the other assignments which were done by the book. There wasn't much guidance on the final but the class was go at your own pace
Expects way too much as far as discussions go.. He is a harsh grader. The quizzes are short and simple but require A LOT of reading!!! He gives quizzes frequently too so you really gotta work.. Not my favorite tbh..
He's a great teacher, with this online class you're gonna need to take notes seriously. And make sure you don't wait til the the last minute on geography map quizzes...
GW is the best teacher I've ever had! He's always willing to help! It strikes me some fellow students commented below did so poor in this class. As long as you spend few hours to study and attend every class, you should be able to get an A- least to say. His class is never boring and he's really knowledgeable, you'll for sure learn a lot from him!
This is a very WORDY class. The syllabus is so verbose, the professor himself is so wordy as well. This class uses an ebook, which I have to mention, the content is unnecessarily hard to understand, it constantly uses very uncommon word structure and grammar to explain some very simple things, to be honest, you may better off Google the explanation
Weekly map quizzes which I didn't mind and clear criteria for everything. Definitely recommend taking his online class!! Won't stress ya out too much
Overall, the articles he gives out to read and answer questions about are a generally on the boring side but not very complicated. The discussions are a guaranteed A if you respond and meet the word counts. As long as you do all the assignments you are supposed to do you shouldnt have trouble with the exams or getting a high grade in general.
Really good teacher! Ended up getting the highest grade in class on the final, although my Computer crashed in the middle and I left a few questions blank. Class is very structured and he gives you more than enough time to complete the assignments in the class. If you do the reading you'll do well on the quizzes
One of my favorite teachers! GW is a very respectful and approachable teacher. You dont have to attend all the classes to pass, but gave extra credit if you went to every class. There was a lot of homework but its all online and very easy. Highly recommend this teacher.
Do not take the class online. The map quiz questions are unrealistic to answer only having google as a resource, requires you purchase online textbook, which is not a textbook. Pretty disappointed, why should I pay for required textbook site when the questions I'm being asked are not given to me by textbook or resource available by teacher.
His online class is very difficult and the textbook is confusing. He doesnt interact with students, I asked him a question about the final, and he copied and pasted the response he posted online. The class is easy, but the final is hard. Over 100 questions to study along with +500 pictures to study for the final. Get ready to memorize entire book.
For an online class , not too bad. Some tips for yous: Every online homework can be done in less then 30 minutes if u can figure it out. The entire textbook is needed but not all of it. The canvas quiz was ok. It depends on your brains. Final exam, do every chapter question possibleee
His map quizzes were really ridiculous. The first and second quizzes were okay but later on, I dont even know when did I learn it or he expected the students must have known those informations. He did not post any material, lecture, or any notes that included what he was going to test just really randomly and I got so frustrated. Please be aware.
Great teacher. I really enjoyed his lectures, I found them enjoyable, and the guy himself is really friendly. I had trouble in his class, but when I communicated to him about it he was empathetic and gave me advice. Also while his class is called geography, there's a good portion of life advice that he gives out. I personally found it helpful
This class was interesting bc the textbook was online and from another professor. The way he used canvas was a little weird, but manageable. We had a chapter quiz after every chapter which was about every week + 5 map quizzes spread out over quarter and 5 discussions spread out too. Fairly easy and recommend for getting the credits needed for AA
No lectures or teaching. A few old videos, an old textbook and some handouts. He graded on 5 tests, 5 subjective discussions, one final. So not a lot of room for error and yet many of the things we were tested on were not in our reading. However, he listened to complaints, answered questions, and changed future tests to be more clear and accurate.
Various assignments keep you interested. Textbook is 100% required, as it along with his module notes are what the quizzes are based off of. Kinda needs to learn Canvas better, but we did get 2 quizzes removed from gradebook b/c they weren't working. Quizzes require a lot of flipping back and forth but fairly easy.
He is a quite good professor, he is kind and really awesome. His class is the most interesting of my boring classes, and I would love to have another one of his.
Be aware of his Quizzes. They can be completely crazy. 50 questions in 60 minutes. And don't hope to find answers online. I personally find his quizzes to be very tricky and detail-focused.
Really good guy. 10/10 would take again. 10 quizzes, 3 discussions and a couple responses. Final was taken directly from the readings and past quizzes. You will not pass w/out the text book. Usually pretty cheap though. GW knows his stuff and is passionate about teacher, which always reflects well!
Very nice professor and very fair grader. Only thing I didn't do good on were tests, but I'm not the most dedicated student to begin with. If you put in some work it's an easy A.
Professor Walker is a really organized professor. Each module has its own PDF that goes through the entire content of those weeks and it doesn't take long to go over. Every other week there's a Module test and a discussion board to go along with it. There's one 4 short answer question quiz at the end of the quarter that isn't too hard.
really good instructor. 10/10. would definitely take this teacher again. its an easy A. hes very very chill doesn't put to much stress on you. the final was taken directly from everything learned in class. he knows his stuff and teaches really really well. very smart and I didn't regret taking this class with him at all. hes the best choice
He may not respond in a timely manner, but that's because he teaches many classes, but when he does, he gives lots of advice and compliments.
There are only discussion posts and exams in this class. Discussions based on readings/videos or based on the book. Manageable workload, easy grading if you follow the instructions. He gives practice questions that will be on the actual exam and you can refer back to the materials while taking the exam. Very easy class with interesting topics.
Good class with good content. I mainly enjoyed the organization of all the material. There were many assignments that were more opinion topics which made them much less stressful to do. Look out for the weekly quizzes and be sure to read the written lectures he gives to study for them.
