Extremely boring class. All you ever do is theory and prove formulas. The guy is prety helpful, but made this class much harder than it should actually be. Integral calculus is a coerequiste for this class. He uses integrals nonstop even though you don't need any integration for this class.
Worst teacher ever! dont take him! just copies the book and doesnt know anything when asked. Midterms are ridiculous, when the whole class does THAT bad there is SOMETHING wrong!!! but instead of compensating with the second midterm he does it again!

He's full of information but has no clue how to part with it. Definitely has favourites in the class and blatantly shows it. Explaining is a foreign word to him.
avoid at all cost!!!! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE PROF...very funny guy, im sure he's nice as hell but dude just cant teach...goes extremely fast...when you ask him a question outside of class does everything to make you look dumb..i was able to understand more reading the book on my own!!!!!
wouldn't take him. he is a strict marker and doesn't give over the material very well.
I defended this prof until the midterms. He spent 6 weeks on the first 4 chapters so I was able to understand everything. Then he realized that he only had 7 weeks to teach 11 more chapters so he tried to teach as quickly as possible and no one was able to follow his explanations. Unless you like teaching yourself, don't bother with this prof.
Oh boy, the only way to describe him is a disaster, be prepared to spend the next few months with your new friend the physics textbook, always focuses on proofs and non numerical questions and gives really hard assignments but moderately difficult exams...
gives too much work, very hard tests. you are the worst teacher i ever had. you ruined my entire semester. i am going to report you to the deans office for being so awful and inhuman

Nice guy and willing to listen and help, but explanations rushed and workload way too big for what the material really is. If you want your homework points in full (20%-30% of grade depending on grading scheme!) then expect 6 hours of homework a week (REALLY not kidding). Use the edition he uses (summaries follow current edition). Workload!

Though he's a nice guy personally, Abinader appears unprepared and has the abilty to make a simple concept incomprehensible in class. There is an exodus from the Concorida physics department and the teachers are why.
Stay away from this guy. He doesn't know anything about the subject and he has weird marking scheme.
make you do hard, but useless works during the symester
3 things you need to know.1)you need to summarize all the chapter it will take you 3 hours per week.2)the quiz are ok if you do all your assignementa(1 each week and can take up to 5 hr).3)He is a good teacher until you reach the half of the term, after that just read the book and do the exercises.
guys , do not choose this professor , i ve seen many things that he explained in high school and it was explained in much easier way , advice form a good or very good student do not take him , he s bad in explaing the thing , for example to explain the product rule he gave us a formula of 7 lines and actually it doesnt need 15 seconds to do the job
DONT TAKE THIS PROF FOR ANYTHING! its a lot of work and its useless, he cant explain anything properly and u are bound to fail unless u get another teacher.. good luck if ur with him, u'll need it!
I've never taken a physics class before this one, and it was not a good idea. It's clear that you must have some background before entering this course otherwise, it is impossible to pass. Keep up with the homeworks because it feels like the finals and midterms are only out to trick you.
3-hour chapter summaries + 5-hour assignments (minimum)EVERY WEEK! That's besides studying the material! Despite all the time invested in that course, I didn't do good in the final because it was about application of simple concepts, not theoretical derivations which he did most of the time. He should teach a graduate-level course instead.

He should not be teaching. He knows physics(or at least gives the appearance), so maybe he should be working. But definitely avoid class. Id rather wait another semester than take it and be left with learning all on my own. His english is fluent, but he has no ability to communicate. And hes power hungry too.

Very boring prof., yet very knowledgeable of the subject. Over explains and makes u get confused.. Exams are tricky, they mostly come from the Problems he explains and solve in class.. Take care and study everything he says " THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT".. I recommend him if u want a decent grade(B+). Gives easy marks on assignments and summaries.
He does not know how to teach. You have to mark your own assignments LOL.Once he said he need to talk to me after class. I go to him and he says why did you give yourself such a high mark, you should not do it else I will give you an F. I told him stop being lazy, marking is not my job. Stay away fom this guy, he just makes you hate science.
I think he is the worst professor ever. Believe me guys, he is very bad. don't take any course with him ever.
Worst professor at concordia, taking 205 with him is worst decision i have ever made, does not explain anything, can understand, gives 20 problems on midterms and no one finishes?? Avoid this professor as much as possible, especially for a difficult course like physics 205.
Definitely the worst professor I have ever had. He makes me despise my program and university in general. He does not give part marks so if your final answer is wrong, you get 0. The course is confusing as it is and going to the lecture makes you more lost. I strongly recommend a different professor!!!!
Potential students: Skim through the comments regarding this teacher. You'll notice that they are almost all negative.I decided to risk it and join his class despite these comments, assuming they were exaggerated. Do yourself a favor and heed the warnings. You will suffer.
The worst teacher I have ever had. If,you have him, take my advice and drop the course immediatly.Otherwise,goodluck.
the worst teacher ever.Avoid him.Very hard assignment and exams and above all, he doesn't explain well.
Very unclear and error prone. Exams are too long, yet he is unforgiving when correcting them.
Explains the theory but barrely ever does problems in class. He gets annoyed at questions as though we're disturbing him an undermining his authority. He knows physics but can't teach it, hard on correction as well. Do not be surprise to understand in class and not be able to do the assignments and still fail. May the force be with you.
this is the worst professor ever. Don't ever try him in any course. Otherwise, goodluck.
careless Professor and weak.
Terrible professor, lecture are confusing the midterm and finals are really hard and the average is a around 40 percent, avoid as much as possible!!
Worst prof ever. Very strong accent and completely incapable of explaining clearly. Is lazy, gets upset when you ask questions, can't solve problems unless he has the solution in front of him and is a ridiculously hard marker (no part marks on 10 pt questions). Avoid if you can. If not, good luck!
very good teacher nd very helpful i recommend it to every student
Professor seems to use material that the students will not understand without a basis in at least 2 years of Calc.
Terrible teacher. Expect to know Physics before this class, otherwise, you probably will fail. He doesn't assume you have other classes. Unless you're pretty much proficient at Physics, you will have a hard time. Midterm was extremely difficult, more than 85% of the class failed, and the teacher still thinks his midterm was fair. Avoid at all cost.
I cant believe how some comments here are really deceiving. This guy is the worst one ever and believe me you'll have terrible time with him.... For me I prefer to drop the course other than dealing with this irresponsible person.
this is the worst prof. u can ever see in ur hole life!! if ur gonna take a course with him 90% ull fail..
why ?!?!?!!??!!! i did nothing to deserve this ! :( well here how it goes.....i went in happy . optimistic :D then when the midterms came i was excited ! ready for the exam ! i thought i was gonna ace it ! until i saw the type of questions..
Even tho I aced this class as I am proficient in the subject, this was the worse learning experience ever! It is a great mystery as to how or why this person is where he is. Not only can he not speak english but his explanations were incoherent. He seems angry when asked questions. Avoid this prof at all costs, unless you are a masochist
Teaching style is terrible because all he does is throw formulas on the board for you, solve for certain variables, and expect you to understand everything. This course is very doable without too much work but you have to stay caught up with the curriculum, if you don't study, you don't pass-it's simple. His exams are straight from the assignments.
BEWARE! you wont understand, and WILL waste your time in his lectures. I had to make up for his lack of ability to teach by finding OTHER sources to learn from besides the book. Very unclear, made tons of mistakes during his lectures. HARD midterm with too many questions, online homework every week, had to read every chapter for "concept assignment
Beware of dog and in this case it is a mean, violent and ugly pitbull. I think this prof has an anger management issue. I made 1 request and he bit my head off for no reason. No ounce of mercy from this guy, no matter how bad or well you are doing in his class. He is a control freak, he is mean and ugly and his class reflects these qualities
worst teacher ever!! I have no idea how Im going to pass this couse... He doesnt give power points online and reads a bunch od useless paragraphs from the texbook in class, avoid this teacher by all means!!!
Woe to all who do not heed the warnings here. Avoid this prof a million times over. No structure in class, and he seems to be in a warped garden of incoherence. He will make you rue the day you have taken his class. He will butcher any interest in science and fail you. Woe to those who decide to take this prof. You have been warned.
This guy is terrible! AVOID AVOID! If you ignore these comments and do take him, be prepared to do webassign assignments with absolutely no solutions and to do extremely useless chapter reviews. His notes are terrible and he cant explain anything clearly. 18 out of 103 passed his midterm, but he'll tell you it was fair. Should not be teaching!!!
makes eveything complicated ! AVOID !!!
I cannot believe how bad of a teacher he is. He obviously knows his Physics but he is absolutely horrible at passing on the knowledge. In class you will mostly be going through proofs or reading random paragraphs from the book. He WILL NOT do any exercises so it's up to you to PRACTICE! And you will need all the practice you can get, believe me!
Listen to these warnings. They are all true. Stay away from this prof. A real loser as a teacher...so much for quality education. This guy has no qualities as a teacher, only just full of himself and power mad. Puts education and learning to shame. He should be shipped out cause there seems to be no shaping up.
OMG! Is this guy punishment for my sinning soul?No empathy on my plight, nor does he have any idea on how to be a teacher or how to communicate tough concepts. Lectures are confusing and thrown together. I think I am going to fail this class, and now my GPA is going to be all messed up thanks to him
I've been to almost every lecture in this prof's class and I still don't understand anything, I have to attend a crash course to MAYBE pass his this course...I recommend staying away from this prof.
his good, he knows what he is doing. it is a little hard through the course but the final grades are more then fair. overall assignments count for more than 20% which is awesome in the end cuz it will boost up your grade. people who say he is not good they have never been to his office. he makes sure you get it before you leave
I took 204 Physics with him in 2009 Fall and I got a B- which isn't horrible but I still had to work my butt off for that mark! His questions are extremely hard which is why you must see him during his office hours and always study the questions he does in class! Choose a easier professor instead if possible.
Worst teacher to date. Isn't the point of going to class to get it there, and not have to book private meetings in a crummy little office with a dirty little man, doing God knows what behind a closed door? If you like getting tortured by a small man who thinks he is God's gift to students, then by all means do so.
First of all, I loved this teacher. Yes, he isn't an "easy teacher", but come on.... the material he teaches isn't easy and if your going into science and expect easy material, please reconsider your choice. His class will demand a lot of time and hardwork so be ready. If you love physics and love to think, you'll love this teacher
I am so glad the semester is over so I do not have to listen to this guy killing the English language. The only thing this guy gave me was an anxiety attack over passing this blasted class. Good riddance to you and your awful teaching methods, may I never have to see, hear or think about you again. Oh blessed joy!!
Mr. Abinader is very good with the materials and works hard. This is a hard course and if you do the work and study through out you will get a good grade. He is giving you clues and what to do during lectures and assignments and if you miss those you would most likely fail or not get a good grade. not a course to pass if you want to take it easy.
He is a very smart teacher and knows his stuff very well. however he does'nt teach well at all. his pop quizes, midterms and exams are very hard. he doesnt like answering questions in class. i suggest you never take a class with him.
hard but grading perfect
People who think he is a good teacher obviously dont know what being a good teacher means. Avoid at all costs unless of course you want to have the worst semester of your life.
THE WORST PROFESSOR EVER. if you can avoid it, get anyone other than him. he has lost my assignments, just goes from the book and dosent teach you anything
Horrible teacher, he's smart but no idea how to help you. He's always mad, take any other teacher.
He is disorganized yet knows physics well. Not helpful.
Don`t get fooled from his first two lectures. thats the mistake i made. He is very gud in his first two three classes as the materiel is easy also and he kinda takes his time. But then the nightmare started. and i actually regretted why didn`t i consider the 70 "poor" ratings here !!
Poor teacher, disorganized, heavy workload, little feedback.
I got D on this course i don't recommend any body taking this course with this guys.
Well... First of all, he hides mathematical traps in his exams,he does not explain his assignments, totally unorganised, changes his mind without notice, overcomplicates already somewhat complicated subjects (seriously, he's going to do triple integrals and class-long proof when he could just explain it in less than 5mins).Just, don't take him.
WORST PROF EVER is an understatement. He spends an entire period to write down proofs that you won't ever use or need, and makes you work like a dog for peanuts (1% for an assignment that takes 4-6 hrs to complete). To rub salt on the wounds, he just mumbles in his lectures and his grading schemes are unfair.
horrible
Helpful if you seek help! so go to lectures, ask questions, go to his office. he is very nice and will explain you everything. midterm and quizzes are from the examples in the book, the assignments and the problems he solves in class. he is actually a good prof
Completely unorganized, impatient, may as well learn onlin and on ur own. Has no ability to teach or speak well. You're paying for the credits u get for passing the class, but if u want to actually learn and be in a productive environment, well run away. In all my years this is the WORST professor, hands down, regardless of the course.
This is my second class with him and I probably forgot what knowledge I had about physics. bloody awful
Although he is not always easy to understand, I liked his grading scheme. Actually, if you really work hard and he notices, he will help you as much as you need it.....it was a very hard and demanding class, but in the end, I ended up with a good grade. He is not hard of a marker....but expect to work very very hard.
very good about grading but horrible about teaching
My advice is, If you don't like physics, Don't take a class with this professor. His classes require a lot of work which i found ridiculous. For ppl like me who are not into physics u're gonna have to study ur asses off. But for those who have no prob understanding phys i'm sure u'll b fine. The one good thing about his classes is d grading scheme.
One of the worst physics profs that i have had. He gets on the board, starts one example the does a side note unrelated to the example, starts a secound example and if you are at all lucky he may finish one of them. The slides he uses are also not the greatest. He will not answer your questions, he will make many mistakes. AVOID!!
He is the worst teacher i've ever met. He's not only terrible, he's also out to get you. 1/3 of class fails. The smart ones drop it in the first week. Avoid at all costs. And i'm not even bitter, I did well in this class.
The instruction has nothing to do with the text. He spent 6 weeks on 3 chapters, went on holiday while having a tutor teach the two most fundamental chapters in mechanics, then came back complaining about the university, shoved 9 chapters in less than 4 weeks, & intentionally screwed students by giving questions he know only 5 saw him do in final!
He knows his stuff. A little too well. Since he finds it so easy, he expects the student to find it simple. This is the problem. I did a lot of the learning through online youtube videos. The material isn't that difficult, but his teaching methods definitely need to improve. Grading scheme is pretty sweet.
Very arrogant prof, goes too quickly through the material and does not like to give explanations or any help for that matter. Also hes a very tough grader. Avoid as much as possible
he is the worst teacher I ever got. I don't learn anything from his class, his teaching skills are literally absent. the book is not great either. The awkward moment when youtube teach better than your teacher, it's sad.
If you want to do well, attend his lectures. I think he is a good prof. if you attend his lectures, as questions, and refer to the textbook. E&M is not an easy course, no matter who teaches it. AbiNader is VERY approachable and seems as though he sincerely likes to help those who show work ethic. Attend his lectures, sit up front.
On his tests he'll take points off of a multiple choice question if you don't show complete work. I've never heard of anyone doing that before.
Very good teacher and ready to help you only if you are interested in the subject.
I don`t think the professor deserves all the beating he gets from here. All of the students crying over here either don't study well or just rely too much on the teacher.I ended up studying for this final on the last day and ended up with an A-, so my experience with him wasn't bad. Just stay on top throughout the semester. Good grading scheme.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I love Physics, but this professor ruined the mechanics course for me.
E&M is an incredibly challenging course, considering I received an A in 204 and A+ in 206. He is a decent professor, but you really must practice practice practice and read the chapters in the textbook. His final was brutal and unfair, never taken such a hard exam before in my life. Make sure you do well on the midterm, it helped bring up my mark.
Absolutely great Professor. An excellent person as well. My mind was poisoned with some negative reviews before I take this course but I am glad I took him. Class was late at night, but this great man keeps interest until the last minute of the class. Tough on surface but very kind and professional. Take him, follow him and you will win easy.
Very nice guy, definitely cares about the students. I didn't like the mark distribution in this class, especially the pop quizzes. Be prepared to teach yourself all of the course material. But he is very easy to approach with questions.
Great guy! He is even quite funny. If you go to class, and do the assignments you should pass the course.
Had him for 204 and have him now for 205. His lectures aren't very good but I don't find his exams were too difficult. You will do a lot of self-teaching through the textbook but his text questions are textbook questions so it's easy. He's a nice guy, just not the best lecturer. You will do well as long as you put in the effort.
does not explain and you will get the hardest assignments and tests ever
He makes mechanical physics seem boring... how can anybody do that? Very bad experience....
Disliked this class and his teaching method very much. Knows the material but doesn't seem so enthused to be teaching. Highly recommend avoiding this class.
avoid his class at any cost
Very hard to follow His lectures. Difficult assignments every week, midterm was tough but final was ok if you practice hundreds of problems in the book.
He knows his stuff (maybe too well) his explanations are just not meant to be addressed to students. The way he explains is super confusing, he would make something super easy to look super hard. Midterm and final were fair. I would not take him for a harder class.
Lecture is useless. Very complicated teacher. A tutor is a lot better than him to explain the concepts. Just do all the problems from the book and you will pass this course. Midterm average grade was less than 50%. I do not recommend this teacher if you are willing to pass this course with an A+ or if you took other hard courses with this course.
Worst professor I've ever had. I'm a very diligent student and this is the first time I couldn't bear sitting through lectures because he honestly doesn't form cohesive sentences nor explain conceptsapplicationsanything. He doesn't seem to care at all about the material, gets irritated with questions, and is just awful. Don't do it!
Not the clearest professor. Must learn by yourself. (Or use Youtube and watch YALE PHYSICS or Professor Lewin's lectures from MIT). Midterm is extremely tough class average 48. Final was fair relative to midterm. He gives quizzes so go to class
He is specialized in making this complicated , lectures are so boring but you better attend them because he might give you pop quizzes.
Lectures are not relevant to homework material so learning on your own is a must. Questions were discouraged after a couple classes due to his inability see people struggle with material that he knows well. Pop quizzes are a thing so despite the useless lectures, you should attend class. I would suggest a tutor if you cannot get into another class.
For the material he did in fact teach he did well. He went step by step through problems and is always willing to explain further. However, you need a thorough understanding of the material to pass the final. Most of the questions were never seen before. Luckily, he bell-curves like crazy. Go to class, it helps more than you'd think!
He is a theoretical physicist. That means he spends most of the class doing proofs and very rarely does examples, which is very unhelpful to a class full of engineering students. Study hard. You will have difficulty understanding the material from him. I hope I never have this teacher again.
First off this class is very abstract, and this prof does nothing to help you understand the concepts any better. He's useless and will make you feel stupid when you ask questions. All i can say is just study hard, invest in chegg account so you have answers to problems and also it will help big time with assignments, watch youtube videos also.
Very boring, long lectures and usually during the evenings. Very tough assignments and practice questions. Hard, long final, however, some questions are from class examples. Gives pop quizzes at the end of class, make sure to always stay to the end.
not a pleasant experience at all. Don't aim for anything above C+ in his class if you are an average to smart student; and so in general avoid him if you want to pass
He is not too bad just a very tough grader, understand the way he solves problems, and understand the methods used in the textbook.
physics department in concordia is bad but this one over here surpassed all limits. avoid him. he doesnt help, doesnt understand situations, doesnt give tips and mostly he doesnt care about his students not a single bit
by far worst prof I've had yet. explanations are extremely unclear and his lectures consist of 2-3 questions in 2.5 hours without going over the basics, he just jumps straight into the hard materials. Hard marker as well, avoid if you can.
The class average for the winter 2016 was 51%!! That is horrible, most of the students including me were angry and annoyed by his exam, because he really tried hard to fail us. He goes very in depth about explaining each formula and because of that everyone will leave the class confused. You probably need to spend on tutorial Classes to pass :(
Worse Teacher I've ever had. His teaching style is to show you how well HE understands the material. Does not allow you to bring your own formula sheet to exams like other PHYS 204 sections. His lectures are way too theoretical and not practical, most people seem to be confused by his explanations. Oh yeah did I mention pop quizzes? AVOID!
Avoid at all cost. He will teach you Italian and ask Spanish. And in his defense they are both latin languages. Seriously avoid if you like passing, Physics 204 is surprisingly an interesting topic when its not him teaching. Moreover goodluck to whoever takes him in the future.
I have since a young age been passionate about physics but when i had this guy oh boy doesnt care about students and doesnt take the time to explain and make things clear. He just writes 1 after the other like a robot. This is not what a teacher is. I feel depressed and im a studious person who loves to learn. AVOID HIM.
He's terrible, he thinks because he knows the material we will right away understand. Doesn't explain anything, just writes. Study the whole book and exercises and you'll do good everything is explained in it!!
Absolute horror! AVOID at all costs. He takes being completely useless at teaching to a whole new level. Instead of teaching physics concepts, he spends all class time doing mathematical proofs! Lectures mandatory (quizzes). Do not ask him questions, he hates it. DO NOT BELIEVE HIS SAMPLE EXAMS FROM 10 YEARS AGO! His actual exams are NOTHING alike.
He has absolutely no business teaching. Easily the worst I've had. He's so unfocused in class, jumping from one thing to another, makes mistakes all the time, writes a bunch of equations and doesn't explain them, plus he sometimes refuses to take questions! I finally gave up going to his lectures; I studied from the book and went to the tutorials.
terrible prof i suggest not taking the course if he is the only one teaching.
If you love learning by theorem proofs then this is your professor. But if you're the other 99% that find proofs useless and would rather be taught by applications of equations and examples, then avoid Abinader. All he does is proofs, showing how one equation is derived from or equal to another. Rarely does he do examples so the hw is challenging
Teaches irrelevant lectures
One of the most banal, ugly and funky smelling teacher. How he got this position is a mystery to end all mysteries. Talks and says nothing, cannot teach or relay complex concepts. Should be on the list for teacher removal, he cannot teach, and torments you with long and useless talk about how his ass defies the laws of physics. Get rid of him!
Doesn't care about students and expects you to know everything while teaching solely theoretical problems. You need to study hard and on your own. I'm sorry if you have to take his class..I deeply regret choosing this professor for a subject I already struggle with.
You don't learn anything in lectures and says there isn't enough time for questions. Problem is, during the time he talks, it's useless theory that won't help on the exam. I regret taking this class and I hope he gets removed someday. Use Khan Academy for basics but for the test he integrates numerous topics into one question. Way too hard.
He is simply not good at teaching the material in a clear and easy to understand way. He likes to spend the almost the whole lecture writing his notes on the blackboard with his back to the students. During this time he will not take questions from students. His midterm was not very hard but not easy. Can't say about final. I dropped course halfway
Absolutely terrible prof! I do not recommend taking him, he doesn't explain, just reads what he's writing on the board, and when he tries to, he makes it even more confusing. Tells us it's normal to fail, instead of helping us to pass. He's a good person, but not a good prof.
Not the worst physics prof at concordia, not the best either though. Not great at explaining concepts but midterm and final were fair
His explanations are okay but the material in the exams are nothing like it. The midterm was ridiculous ( 15 questions in less than one hour). The average is usually crazy low and usually everyone gets a boost to even it out. He also makes you buy the Ebook (for 150 ish $) so dont waste money on the hardcopy of the book.
Has very unrealistic expectations of the students. He has no idea how to run the online course, somehow he thinks that we are the only course he has. The material is not taught properly. The midterm was a joke because we didn't have enough time to finish the questions since we had an hour and 10 questions and one hour. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
If you want to save your life Take this class at cegep
Personality-wise, I like the guy. He is smiley and pleasant to speak with. His exams are fair. The assignments are MUCH harder than what is taught, so get ready to spend hours and hours on them each week. As for his teaching: he doesn't explain the basics, so following examples without understanding the variables is impossible. Read the book.
He would not respond on time. He would change the deadlines of the assignment, I was not able to do one of them because he put the deadline on April 30th, 2019. Thinking you have until that time, he changes it a week earlier, and then tells you that it is your fault for not doing it on time. Please consider taking another professeur.
Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Don't bother sending him emails because he'll never answer back. Try your best to avoid him at all costs.
Run before its too late
RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first you will be deceived by his smiles and theoretical explanation, but then you will realize why his rate is disastrous. He does not respond to emails. He keeps changing assignments deadlines. He just explains theories. He taught us two chapters literally before the exam day. Simply avoid.
Just avoid this prof at all costs
If you love yourself, don't take this professor, even if your life depended on it.
whatever happens, don't take physics with him, even if you have to, or risk losing your interest about physics for ever and ever. you have my word.
If it were possible to give 0 out of 5 his rating would be 0.001. Avoid at all costs. Take another course and try next semester if he's the only one teaching
I found his exams fair. I know people will come @ me. I think that if you work hard, attend the lectures and do the assignments, his exams are doable and you can actually get a good grade in the class. I had read all the negative comments before enrolling in the class and got scared, but in the end I was pleasantly surprised.
Doesn't answer emails, condescending when asked questions, and only teaches theory in class without examples. His handwriting and notes on the board are all over the place. Outline said 4-6 pop quizzes, but he decided three weeks in that he would give one every week. At least he was true to his word about that. Laziest prof I've ever seen.
not the best option lectures and final are very different!
ABI NADER IS AN ANGEL SENT FROM ABOVE. TAKE HIM HONESTLY HE IS THE MOST PREDICTABLE PROFESSOR OUT THERE. TAKE IT. HE IS THE BEST OF THE WORST.
There's a reason his rating is dreadfully low on this site and from past students advice, just avoid this guy at all costs
I had a very bad grade on the midterm, reason why is: the exam time was 75 minutes with 11 questions requiring clear calculation which requires an average of 7 mn per question, the 5 first question require 10 mn of thinking just to understand and start resolving problems. this class was outrageous. other classes/online had the same exam in 135 mn
Absolute trash teacher. He is the worst. Terrible explanations, condescending and rude when you ask questions, does not help students outside of class, exams are extremely difficult. It is not fair to the students of Concordia to keep him employed as a teacher!
If you have an ounce of respect for yourself, don't take his class!! He's a monster and inhumane, he has something against his students cause you can sense how badly he wants everyone to fail!! a classic sociopath.
Never again!
Took his Phys205 online course, he's not the lecturer so the course is fine. He curved everyone's grade DOWN in order to fail more people. Here's a section of his email. "I had to curve them down. The curving down was made by multiplying the grades by the factor of 0.82 that would generate an average of 61%"
Abinader is by far the worst professor at Concordia. Not only is he rude and curt with his students, he doesnt care about their success or studies at all. For the PHYS 205 EC course over the summer, over 60 students received an F because the proctorio software didnt register their exams, and Abinader juat said that he couldnt do anything.
Ridiculous to say that he is a "professor". After midterm half of the class were gone. Just don't take it. His handwriting is awful like his teaching. Just don't waste time on this man and wait until someone better teaches.
He tried his best to provide us a fair environment to do our exams online. He answers my questions very fast and in a very good way. But students have to be really knowing about their questions, he is very strict to that. This course is heavy, not his fault, meanwhile, we have tons of time to ask him questions. Heavy assignments, yeah!
Never answered a single email on time from me, and sometimes he doesn't answer them at all.
The absolute worst professor in Concordia. Not accommodating for students. Honestly, it says something when a professor takes pride in the number of people who fail his class. Would be worth it to change the entire academic year schedule to avoid having him as your teacher.
In two degrees this is absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. Higher workload than other sections of same course, outline was disorganized and didn't match the material making it hard to plan your weeks, takes weeks to answer emails, calculated midterm grades wrong accidentally failing the entire class and didn't even notice.
Did not love the guy, partially because I never saw him. I took the course online, all recorded lectures were done by a different prof, however assignments and quizzes were taken from an online platform, midterm and major were incredibly difficult and did not line up entirely with recorded lecture material
Disorganized, inconsistent, and terrible at communication. Changed due dates of assignments after they were due; attempted to require a laundry list of invasive steps (Mirror, empty pockets & drawers, etc) for proctoring before the department stepped in. He's tenured, and it shows. His reputation extends beyond entry level physics. Strong avoid.
what i learned from this course is that i can be my own teacher bc this prof doesn't teach anything.
Passing his class is equivalent to finishing a game in LEGENDARY MODE. Basic physics courses already have a 50% FAILURE RATE on EASY MODE. A letter grade of C is equivalent to an A+ in the same class but with a different professor.
Never responds to his email, he gave me a 67 % on the midterm even though I was sure I aced it, didn't even give back the midterm, and refused that me look over it. he doesn't respond to questions, and gives a sh*t load of work to do that is frankly impossible to do unless you use external resources.
We are all a bunch of masochists and he is the sadist whipping us. We like pain and this prof provides it in abundance. Fine, Concordia is not the highest rated university but the bar is so low and teachers like this guy get into the system and wreak havoc on poor unsuspecting students who don't know better than to take him. Good luck if you do.
Seeing these reviews before taking the class with Abinader stressed me out. I will agree that he is not a good *teacher* in the sense that he really does not know how to teach, but he does provide you with all the materials necessary to succeed. The midterm and final was based off the assignments- just be ready to teach yourself and you'll be fine.
If you have Abi Nader ONLINE (recorded lessons, not his own) in your 1st year, he will ensure that you FAIL the course. His midterm and final exams are NOT aligned with the textbook material and the difficulty level is at 10. Concordia University uses him to fail students, so that they can make additional money by having them repeat PHYS204.
this guy is literally the epitome of "that one teacher thats gonna make you hate physics". your best friends will be organic chemistry tutor, previous finals and assignments if you want any chance of passing. does not care about the success of his students and even lied about a certain chapter being included in the final. please do not take him
Never responds to emails, is never accessible (for me), study materials and exams are not aligned, and weekly assignment (takes overall 1.5 hours) and weekly quizzes. In a nutshell, If you want to fight the demon take his classes and I will guarantee you that you're gonna fail. The worst professor doesn't care about anything as if he's high 24/7.
He wasn't helpful throughout the course. I was confused the whole semester even though I read my textbook. H wasn't able to explain what stuednts were asking. If you can avoid him, DO IT.
The dude is awful. He didn't even teach this term. He just put videos up and sent us on his mary way. Want to pass his class? Do all the webassigns and the extra problems for each chapter
I got a good grade for only 2 reasons: my own individual hard work & the very big curve he made because most of the class was failing This guy is the most arrogant, disrespectful, disorganized and rude professor I ever dealt with I have taken my other physics courses with Nima and he was absolutely amazing So if you can drop Abinader dont hesitate
THE ABINATOR PASSED CUZ CURVE THO SHESSSSSSH BROS A TIER ONE OPP TO MY MENTAL HEALTH
He forced us to watch recorded zoom lectures and never taught anything.
I wish to be as successful, online lectures from another prof, TA's grading exams and answering questions, homework online generated. Would be nice to do nothing and get paid. Exam was more than fair as questions were straight from the homework. It may seem a lot, but the extra questions eliminate surprises during the exam.
His summer online class was super easy
he makes you to hate physics! WONT take class with him again and ignore positive comments such as easy or fair exams
I took him for an online course so this review is based exclusively on the exams' difficulty, which were absolutely fair and in accordance with the homework material. Apparently his lectures suck but at least he is not as bad as an examiner.
In my 16 years of being a student this is easily the worst professor I have seen. He assigns homework which takes hours to complete worth 1 percent per assignment. His tests are difficult and impossible to finish in allotted time. You will struggle in all other classes because of him. It is a shame that the university allows this. Stay away.
The worst teacher you will ever find in your life. Tests are impossible to do. He tries to find the hardest questions ever, and impossible to do in in the given time. NEVER take him.
Turn around and run for your life. This guy will give you only regret, frustration and a run for your mental health. This teacher is not for the weak. Has absolutely no empathy nor foresight in how complicated a student's life could be. He will chew you up and spit you out.
The worst prof of all time!!! hard exams hard grader and has no respect for the students.
People who do good in phys 205 with him is because they know where he gets his exam questions from. He has a testbank...You find it you're good. If you don't, get ready to fail because no matter how smart you are you will struggle with this class. This is coming from someone who's taken phys 245 (a way harder class than this) and did exceptional
He is a terrible person, no respect for the students, their education nor their time. he does not respond to emails and does not help at all. It is a big shame for Concordia university to keep such teacher and not do anything about this big issue in their physics department. DO NOT TAKE COURSES WITH HIM NO MATTER WHAT SITUATION YOU ARE IN.
At first, he wasn't qualified to teach this type of course at the university at all! Secondly, his awful accent made all of us uncomfortable in class! Last thing but not least he always tries to force us to do extra homework even the night before the exam! With all due respect please don't take this course with him.
Run for your life. Gonna ruin your mental health. If theres no other professor teaching the course you wanna take at that time just wait for next semester and fill something else. For your sake and the sake of paying so much dont ruin your gpa i am already stuck in this hell pray for me
Do not sign up to his course if you want a professor with proper English and basic ability to teach
you wont be able to understand anything from him he barely speaks english, and when he talks he will be talking about Shakespeare or how good he is at physics.
This professor is no walk in the park. His tests are notoriously difficult, but Unstuck ai and previous exams can help you survive. Attend class and use all resources to pass.
The most complicated lectures, inconscient symbol use, and over incomphrendable material. Good luck :(
they give phds to anyone these days, i doubt he's taken 1 education class
He may be the worst teacher I have ever had in my years of education. Get ready to have mental breakdowns and not have enough time to do anything in the world. The material is fairly comprehensible, but oh man, he CANNOT TEACH FOR THE LIFE OF HIM. He gets his notes copy and pasted from the textbook, no additional info is taught. Avoid at all costs
My experience with this professor is awful. I STRONGLY urge Concordia to get rid of him as he is a nuisance and does not help students in any way shape or form. He should not be certified to teach and has been consistently giving poor quality lectures as well as significantly overworking his students. He does NOT care if you succeed.
If you're trash at physics don't take him, you will 100% fail or barely pass 205 with him. His whole purpose is to fail to you in EnM, literally. The final he makes is ridiculously hard, so if you do take him and bomb his midterm, drop the class asap. You will not pull off a miracle in the final! More than 3/4 of the class ended up with C+ or lower
Help. Horrible midterm impossible to do in the amount of time given. His lectures are too heavy and the assignments take forever to do. Do not take this teacher :)
exams are hard, teaching is not bad but I haven't met any prof teaching well since I started uni.He is very respectful, and helps students when they ask questions after class,he has no problem with spending a whole hour explaining what you don't understand after class, which is great. His English and accent are very good unlike what people reviewed.
He's horrible. Makes no sense during lectures and talks to himself the whole time. I would definitely not recommend him if you haven't taken a physics before. His midterm was so hard and almost everyone failed. Try and take this online just so you doing have him. He is no help and doesn't speak very clearly or well.
I once saw him stay over an hour after class answering a single student's questions. His theater class isn't great since he doesn't seem comfortable in it take a normal class with a board, that's where he shines. I attended one and was amazed by how good he was. The midterm was tough, but if you focus on the assignments, you'll score well.
Avoid at all costs, even if your only other choice is a late-night lecture. He gives super long assignments every week that take forever to finish. Lectures are useless and I had to learn the whole course on my own with the textbook so this class ended up consuming most of my time which led to me struggling in my other classes as well.
I have never had a teacher decrease my will to live so much. My other profs are not the greatest, but at least I don't dread every class. Midterm was impossible, over half the class failed. He also doesn't teach anything, so be prepared to pay mandatory $90 for the textbook, but hey!!!! At least you WILL use it. I'm so mad. Save yourself.
AVOID! But if you can't, teach yourself. I only did well by taking two full days a week for this course. I did not go to a single lecture after the first month. He is unprofessional, impossible to understand, and exams are long. (Found myself crying during the midterm cause he was yelling at us.) You CAN do well, but it will be in spite of him.
One of the worst professors. Doesn't know how to teach at all, talks about one random topic the whole class and skips slides. His powerpoints make no sense and are outdated. So many assignments and quizzes every week and hard exams. Even if you ask him questions he doesn't help at all and doesn't care. Don't take him, you will regret it.
Don't know ANYONE who has passed this course. People say he curves but it didn't look like it this semester. Worst professor ever, if you even want a chance to pass, don't take him. He needs to get fired.
Don't bother asking him questions during lectures, save them for the end. He answers all your questions after class but usually its a long line. His teaching method is not the best so you have to put a lot more extra effort yourself. Exams are hard so study really well. Overall hard class but if you put in the extra effort you'll pass no problem.
AbiNader is the type of teacher that simply cannot teach. He has a good grasp on the subject matter but that means nothing since he cannot run a classroom. Prepare to be bored while he rambles about drawing diagrams for the 500th time. The assignments are long and he refuses to give extensions.
This class filled me with so much rage. He overcomplicated all of the content, and taught proofs and examples that were far beyond the scope of the course. He would go through easy examples and then put difficult questions on the exams. The weekly (SOMETIMES TWICE WEEKLY) Webassigns were awful. I felt like I was in a fever dream every Wed night.
The ratings for this prof are way too harsh, many kids out of high school don't understand that his job isn't to go around one-by-one to make sure everyone understands. This is also a class that requires lots of time and LOTS of practice. If you put in the time you will see the results (easy to get 100% in quiz and assignments). Do it with a buddy!
Not nearly as impossible as most reviews say. Be prepared ahead of class and use the lecture time to work on the assignments, they take a lot of time and can be quite challenging. I really recommend using the student solutions version of the textbook available on webassign. It is useful to jot down the example questions he does in lectures.
He can barely teach but if you put in the work its fine. I spent a few hours before each lecture teaching myself the material, and ONLY THEN I could follow his lectures. The worst part is his demeanor and the environment during class...was rude to the TAs in front of everyone... clearly annoyed by questions. He knows physics. He is just unpleasant.
I know there are many complaints about him, but he actually is not bad. He guides students through the derivation of formulas. Although he assigns a lot of homework, it really helps you understand the material. The midterm and final are mostly based on the homework. He is strict, but as long as you follow the classroom rules, you will succeed.
This teacher is so hard.
My experience with him is that i find that he doesn't care, and unreachable. Send email, ghost, send message ghost, and then during exams even if the whole classroom will have an issue= GHOST. And i'm sure he knows the frequent issues students deal with during online examinations, and he won't let you know in advance or include useful instructions.
Yelled at us to hurry up during the midterm. Doesn't let you take photos of the notes even though his writing is eligible and he forgets to switch over to the projector half the time. Long assignments. Heavy accent. Goes into proofs instead of teaching us the questions we're given. Awful at answering questions. The list goes on...
Honestly a good professor, interesting engaging lectures with lots of available practice problems. Tough if you haven't practised but exam questions are almost all taken directly out of the assignments.
Had him in Econ. Assigned to us 3 weeks into the semester so it was too late to drop. He doesn't respond to the discussion forum, ever. One practice exam to prep for finals, challenging yet doable. Final exam he created, nightmare. Took the most challenging version of problems, that we never covered and made them the long answer section. The worst
Faculty gives this professor a LOT of power, and he knows it. (i promise you it's not an exageration), he doesn't grade, TA's do and it can be unfair and he will allow it, he will NOT help even if issues happen to the whole class, and yes final is difficult and yes the online class doesn't prepare you for it. some get curved some don't,
I took his PHYS 204 online class for my first term. At first it seemed easy everything was going well. The Midterm wasn't tough got a very good grade on it. Everything was well until I reached the final. Nothing and I mean nothing could have prepared me for what was on that paper. 129 students failed his class. 129 out 150. Let that sink in.
Takes 2 months to reply to emails, even then, you might not get a response, his assignments are long and done in a way where you spend more time just getting them done than actually learning. horrible teacher
Save your money and transcript. Don't ever take this prof 70% of the class failed.
Difficult teacher Got a bad grade in midterms cuz the exam was proctored and it was impossible to upload pictures of my worksheet and also he refused to acknowledge that issue despite being mentioned multiple times by students in the general discussion. Don't even bother emailing him, he will ghost you
He used other professors' lectures; he never answered emails, nor did he provide office hours. He never corrected anything, everything was automatically corrected. His homework and the lectures used were not enough to prepare anyone for the final exam. In conclusion, he was paid this semester only to correct the final exam, and he took 20 days.
genuinely the worst I read all the reviews thinking he couldn't be so bad, he was terrible . I retook the class with Shin and got a B+ . Save yourself i'm telling you now .
Just avoid him. He is not a good teacher, even if you have him online; his assignments are too long and don't teach you anything.
He was not a professor. Taught nothing. Midterm was a mess, with students chasing after him & TAs through emails to get grades modified after some complications. The assignments are LONG. I learned more in a summer intensive at a college than a whole semester in his class. This class was so demanding it took time from other classes. Do NOT rec.
Did the midterm yesterday, we had 1H15min for it. Very hard because there is no time to think, you have to know it all when you write it, very difficult long questions. I will not judge him as a person but as a professor, he did not teach well and did not prepare us well. Physics 204 should not be this hard, the time for the exams is too low.
drop him!!
He doesn't speak well and is bad ay explaining
Never again taking the course with him.
