He was a pretty good teacher, he knew that the class was hard so he grades easily. He gives thorough lectures and the notes go right along with the book.
he is awesome. he gives extra points on the test. I never referred back to the book just reviewed straight from his lecture notes. I will definetly take him again.
Easy class. Everything was straight from a worksheet he gave us. Learn mostly from the problems he did from the board. No book required if attend to his class everyday.
Great teacher! I hate math, have always struggled. This teacher gave us the exact material that would be on the test. NO suprises, he was very understanding when issues came up, no homework!. Teacher appreciates attendance.
he is a wonderful teacher, i failed almost every class having to do with math in high school and passed his class with a B+,his tests are easy and he never gives homework.he makes real life relations to the work which helps with the memorization of material. i will be taking him again.
Great teacher!! He is my favorite teacher at the Southeast Campus. Very approachable and explains every process in class. You never ever use your book!!
he is a great teacher very willing to help outside of class use your book only for problems when studying for test. no homework. explains things completely in class.
Can't stand this guy, does'nt read through the questions, assumes all students are following and can't help when asked. All he says, find it yourself. Will not recommend.
For someone such as myself who doesn't have the slightest clue about algebra, Mr. Manjong has been a Godsend for me. He gives his own tests in class and lets you use a graphing calculator, unlike the testing center. He gives you the sample test and goes over each question. Very willing to help when asked. RECOMMEND!!
Very helpful, no homework, just study well for tests. First 2 tests are easy, common sense. the other 2 are harder, just study the notes, and ur good. He also gives extra credit, and take home makeup tests
If you take this professor, you're in good hands. He provides step-by-step process and his lectures make all math problems easy. I highly recommend for anyone to take this class, whether your good or horrible at math, Its an easy A
This is the best teacher I've ever had!!!!! No homework, just tests. just come to class and you don't need to study. No need to buy the book, waste of money. I never opened mine one time and got an A+ in the class. I am going to take this teacher as much as possible!!!!
The best math teacher of all time!!! Very easy A. Don't buy the book it's not necessary. Just study for test and quizzes and attend tutoring for extra points on the test.Great guy.
He is wonderful! I am taking him during wintermester which is a whole semster crammed into 12 days, and even though I failed this class when I took this in regular semester with another professor, I have an A so far. He gives lots of bonus points too!
Dr. Manjong is a really good math teacher. I struggle in math and took both Elementary Statistics and Remedial Math from him. I got A's in both. He is tough on people but an extremely good teacher. He made math make sense and gives fantastic test reviews. His finals are usually NOT comprehensive. Just don't let our cell phone go off in his class!
He is a "wonderful" teacher. If he knows you really want to learn, he will help you. He really is a great teacher that really cares. He just demands respect and that totally understandable and should be given. You won't go wrong taking his any of his classes. As long as you don't miss class and study, you'll be fine.
by far the best math teacher i have ever had. he makes sure that everyone understands and is on the same level. he is very willing to help. the work is easy and lotsss of bonus points. i love him:)
very sensitive teacher, get offended easy and will punish the class if you go over his head. Will not answer questions in class if he felt he covered it. He will tell you, "you should know that", but if you go to his office he will answer any questions you have. he give lots of bonus points. He is a little rude but not on purpose.
Mr. Manjong is just an amazing & incredible teacher. If you go to his office, he will help you with "any" problems you're having difficulty in class with. You won't go wrong if you take his class. As long as you attend class and really want to learn, you'll be fine. He really is one of the best teachers I've had in my life....very caring too.
Great teacher, I took him for several classes. He is pretty strict about his class, but it's just because he really cares about education. DON'T leave your phone on though! He does not like that. I never bought a book, I just went to class every day and took good notes. Made a few copies from the tutor center if any pages were assigned. Pretty easy
Very good Professor! he is very strict, but gives enough extra credit for anyone to make an A. He does not repeat himself so pay attention in class. Material is hard but he covers EVERYTHING. I am going to try to take him for other math courses. I reccomend him to everyone.
Worst teacher ever! He goes back on his word and acts like a child when confronted about it. I asked him for clarification the class before a test and was told "I don't have time for that." Doesn't publish a syllabus. Told us he would take a project in place of our lowest test, then went back on that a month after the project was turned in.
Great Professor, Basically if you wanna pass it's all up to you. Take great notes and understand the information and your golden!! He is very helpful and gives extra credit. best part is you don't even have to worry about buying the book because he goes over the notes so well that you dont even need it. I hate mth and made an A :)
I'm still currently attending his class at Northlake but wow! He is actually one great teacher. His teaching methods are simple yet precise, and he keeps you interested enough to want to come back to the next class. He may be strict, but all for your own good. Strongly recommend him!
He is a great teacher! His teaching methods keep you wanting to come back to class, and very helpful and easy to understand. I'm very glad I took his class since this was my 4th attempt at MATH1414 and because of him, I was able to keep it my 4th and last attempt. THANK YOU MR. MANJONG!!
He is easy, just it.
He's strict when it comes to cell phone and coming in late, but he's a really good math teacher. He explains the material very throughly in class. There are a lot of bonus points on test so you have a chance to score higher than 100.
Get ready to take notes till your hands fall off! You need to come to class everyday to take notes because his notes are super helpful and is basically how the tests are. The class is a lot of work but it's easy. The worst thing about his class is no one really dares to ask questions.. he'll make you look and feel like an idiot.. =/ but he's good
The man himself isn't bad, it's just his teaching style. He breezes through the material quickly, not really giving you a lot of time to understand it well. He'll move on to material for Test 2, before you've even taken Test 1 yet. He's only good for if you're already really comfortable with Algebra.
If you want to pass..it's up to you. Do great on quizzes and he will let you skip the tests. Don't Need a Book!
Overall I absolutely LOVED him :) however, he is not for everybody. He moves very quickly through the material and has a very thick accent. I recommend having a comfort level with math before taking him, but he is wonderful.
Excellent professor! His tests are multiple choice, and he gives tons of bonus points! Show up for every class, take excellent notes, and you'll do great, very helpful too. He can be funny and sarcastic, which makes class more interesting! I suck @ math, and I have an A. DON'T text in class or let your cellphone go off because he will boot you out.
I've taken him for three courses now. He's simply the best. He actually cares and will take the time to ensure your success if you put in a genuine effort and communicate with him. Must attend class for notes, but the multiple choice tests and formulas help greatly.
His tests are super easy & almost everybody makes 100's, but you HAVE to come to class to get the notes or else you'll fail the tests. I suggest you find a good partner during the class because if you ask him a question he'll make you feel like an idiot. He remembers who's absent/tardy & will use it against you. Overall, he's easy.
Show up every day on time and take notes. This is vital to passing his class. I wish I could have taken all my math classes from him.
If you show up for class and take good notes, you will have no problems in here. I hate math and was dreading this class, but he makes it easy. The only criticism I have is that he will move on to the next test's material before testing us on the previous material...but as long as you have good notes you'll be fine. Take him!
He is a wonderful teacher, and a wonderful man with a big heart. Take him, you won't regret it. If you stop by his office he will happily help you, but if you pay attention in class you probably won't even need that. He is great.
I keep reading on here that he is "easy", and this is not the case. He is a great professor who makes the subject easy. There is a difference. He teaches with such clarity and relates everything to the real world. He is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Show up and take good notes and you will do great in this class.
If you really want to learn statistics, then this is the professor for you. He makes a difficult subject easy because he is a great teacher. Show up every day, take good notes, work the practice exercises and you will do great.
Dr. Manjong is very helpful, a great desciplinarian, if you can`t comply you better not take him. I did not like Math, but I made it. you better be in class to take note. this is very helpful. I will take him again. you need the textbook for home work.
He is not an easy teacher what so ever I donk know what teacher these other people are praising about but it is not the same one i took. He didnt help out at all. If you ask him questions he made you feel dumb. Also very rude to students . DO NOT TAKE HIME
Amazing class I tought I was not going to learn anything, but i was wrong. If you haveing a trouble in class go to his office and he will do whatever it takes to help you understand that problem. Nice guy will make you laugh at times. Book not required but will give practice problems that come from the book(not for a grade) will have 5 exams
He is good teacher. Just show up, take note, do homeworks and the test will be easy for you. Sometimes, It's hard to understand what he say, but It's ok, he help to answer the questions you have. You should take him.
He is very funny, very nice, and understandable. He cares his students. I just love this guy.
He's not a good professor by any means. He speeds through material and goes through material for a different test before the first was taken. He is hard to understand, inconsistent, and is VERY rude. Unless you HAVE to take him then don't. You'll be better off teaching yourself
Easy class. Buy the book & study, you should have no problems. He offers extra credit on all tests. The material he teaches can be confusing sometimes. I am making an A in his class without the book but our in-class work mostly comes from the text book. before class put your phone on silent & in your backpack, if it goes off he will kick you out.
Like father, he will be concerned that you learn everything you need. Grumpy, but funny. I'm going to miss him.
starts class early, accent is heavy (sometimes when telling a story, it sounds like "ehfaoiwefoewflenv," making it hard to take in what he says while you try writing everything down), tests can be a little tricky, he wastes time looking for a VERY SPECIFIC ANSWER, instead of just telling us after a couple guesses, no homework, he needs to chill out
He has a very thick accent and is hard to understand. He writes lessons on the chalkboard and goes over the material with the class. He's a tough teacher and is very strict on phone use in his class. If you already have a tough time in passing math, I would highly suggest you not take this class.
One of the best math professors I've every taken. You have to be willing to pay attention and dedicate time outside of the classroom. Everyone expects an easy professor, but he cannot perform miracles. His policies are unruly, but overall an excellent professor. Taking his class will prepare you for university level math.
If you're a such lazy student then don't you dare take him. Otherwise he is a wonderful, strict, and motivating instructor. You have to be self-disciplined in order to pass statistics. He is clear, but don't expect "spoon-feeding" from him. made 100 in all his exams even though never finished all the questions. Quality work and clean attitude key
Very hard,Not helpful at all, over half of the students in my class failed!!! He only offers 4 grades for the entire semester,DO NOT TAKE HIM
Do not take this class, if you have been out of school for a while or don't care for math, please don't take this class, he'll give you one example and assumed you got it, can't explain nothing. You have to take notes like crazy and he does not give you any print out, the entire class is taking notes.
He is one of my great teacher! You have to go the class often and take notes. Just follow his notes, you will made an easy A. The cellphone is not allowed in the class. You need to take your class seriously and then you will be fine. Professor Manjong is very nice and friendly. He is always willing to help you. I recommend him
Only 4 major test grades! If you fail ONE test, consider yourself done with the class. No extra credit, no class work grade, nothing! HE HAS A VERY THICK AFRICAN ACCENT! Do not understand a word! Kicks you out of class for the smallest reasons (looking at the clock) DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Unless you already know About it.
Professor Manjong is very sweet. He is firm, and will not tolerate excuses, but if you show initiative he is more than willing to help you. He has a thick accent, so sometimes it's hard to understand him, but he is a wonderful professor and tries very hard to create the best learning environment possible for his students.
He is a great teacher!! I took this as a 2 week class, and I would highly recommend it. This is NOT an easy class, but there is definite opportunity for an A. Make sure you show up on time, cell phone put up, and participate in class!! If you put in hard work you will be rewarded.
Old school uses the chalk board. No homework no quizzes just test. You have to be able to do everything on your own. He doesn't answer emails and he is not clear about anything. He mumbles and talks to the chalk board. He is very hard to understand. Good luck if you take him
Only thing I didn't like was his personality, very rude to students especially when you ask a question but his test weren't that hard if you take good notes he gives you and work on the practice exercises you'll do fine.
The man makes math pretty simple during the summer.I took good notes, and didn't do many of the practice problems. Test's are the only thing that affect your grade. He is rather strict at times, and he has zero tolerance for cell phones. Pay attention and you should be fine.
his class really give me a hard time and i coulde not even passed !
Mr. Manjong is not a hard teacher if you have a grasp on algebra. He teaches the curriculum out of order, which can be confusing, and he also has a thick African accent in lecture that makes him hard to understand. There are no worksheets in class-all of your grades come from the tests. Great if you learn well in lecture, otherwise not recommended.
Professor Manjong is the best math teacher I have ever had. His grades are just tests. He assigns problems from the book that are similar questions on the test. The people that write bad reviews are the lazy students. He has an old school teaching style, all on the board. I finished with a 100 for the class. All test have up too 25 extra points.
The worst teacher I ever had, I tried my hardest in his class but I could never learn a thing. He is too fast pace, when you take notes you never understand what you wrote & eve never gives you a second chance on anything, if you need to make up something he wont let you. if you need a math credit, I recommend you skip this guy.
Although Mr. Manjong is a tough grader, I got an A. It was not an easy A but the work given is durable and without the homework, I would not have made it. He does not ask for the homework but it is very beneficial when it comes to test. He is always there to help but be sure to help yourself first. I was afraid of Statistics before his class.
If you struggle in math I DO NOT recommend him. First of all he spends 20 mins writing all the problems on the board then will only go over 2 of them because he runs out of time. He does no speak to the class he speaks to the board so it's very hard to understand and hear him. He has kind of an accent The only positive thing is he doesn't give hmwk
He is very helpful and considerate teacher. His tests are really easy and he reviews every part several times. I do recommend him, but for we need to be respectful and polite in his class.
by far the worst teacher at tcc. tough grader, doesnt help with any studying for tests, starts new lessons before you actually take the test for the previous lesson. has an attitude. doesnt like to repeat himself. DO NOT TAKE HIM SAVE YOUR GPA
You basically gotta show up and take notes if not you're basically screwed. old school professor writes on a chalkboard. kinda hard to understand the guy and doesn't like when you ask questions because he's "already" answered it. 4 grades in total all test and a final. he's really funny and cool person just a hard professor
He is a supportive teacher. His teaching style is really work for math. He repeats every thing and there will be lots of examples after teaching a concept. You never surprise in the tests and questions will be exactly like reviews. He is very flexible and if you be a good student and test date won't work for you, he may take test in his office.
had to drop this class. doesn't respond to emails, if you don't sit towards the front of the class you can't understand what he is saying or see what he's writing on the board, and he doesn't post any of the test dates online. he only tells students a week ahead of time when the test is, so if you're absent the class that he announces it, good luck
You MUST pay attention at all times during this course or you will be completely lost. He is very hard to understand. Exams are usually 8-10 problems
If you don't understand what he teaches in class, he sets up another times to help you review at Math Lab or at his office even as his off days. He is very good profession that I have ever known. If you want more practice for you Math skills, He will be excited to help you for it! Just show him.
He has an extremely thick accent, making it hard to understand him. It is also hard to read his handwriting and he's too fast pace. He refuses to repeat test dates and will only say what is on the test once. (Which sucks because even if you're paying attention it's hard to understand anything he says.)
His accent ruined the class for me I could barely understand a word he said. He only assigns four test throughout the entire semester. Those test are handwritten out of a blue book so no multiple choice, I would not take him, I would leave his class in tears because he was hard.
Go to his office hours!! Once he knows your trying he is willing to help you pass! Lots of people made an A but it wasn't easy. You really have to work for it. No extra credit, no homework assignments, 4 test and thats it. Stay on top studying from the beginning! Even though it was hard I do feel prepared for the 2nd part of the course.
He is nice and if given the chance he will challenge you to learn at your best ability. His teaching method is not about memorization. He has an accent but it's not so much you can NEVER understand him. Now also, you will need to be flexible if you take him. If you thrive off of structure, don't take him. Good Luck.
Really tough course but he offers help outside of class and tries to do what he can for you to understand the material.
This professor gets angry when people ask him questions, make sure you read before getting into any chapter in his class. His accent is hard to understand it is almost as if he mumbles on purpose so sit in the front/middle. He is unorganized so stay organized. Do the homework in order to pass if any confusion go to the math lab asap! He doesnt help
This professor is a cool guy outside of class. But in class he gets angry if you ask him a question. Not really helpful at all, i had to learn on my own and in the math lab. He didn't answer any of my questions.
Professor Manjong is not the best teacher. He is a good person at times. I would not recommend taking his class. Heavy accent, only 4 test to grade, he refuses to actually teach! All he does is notes and a few problems from the book. He does not believe in extra credit or online work. He can be rude if you ask him a simple question. Look him up!!!!
He is a great professor personal. However teaching the curriculum was poor. And he has a thick heavy accent. No I would NOT recommend anyone to take him.
Professor Majong is very helpful, he provides help during his office hours to answer all your questions and explains everything to help you understand the material and be prepared.
If you already know the material for the course, you'll be fine. If you want to learn anything, then get ready to go to every single tutoring session that you can because this professor slurs and mumbles his words. Good luck understanding anything he says. And if you want him to repeat anything or help, he will interrogate you like you're an idiot.
Mr. Manjong is honestly one of my favorite professors. I will admit, he isn't for everyone. He feels very strongly about the way he teaches, and isn't into repeating himself (at all). His actual teaching style however is easy to understand. His tests are straight forward and fairly easy. I took him for both Stats and Algebra and received an A.
Professor Manjong has been teaching math for years. If you sit in the front of the class and pay attention, he will appreciate your efforts. Wait to ask questions until the end of class because he does not like to be interrupted. Some students are very disrespectful, so he will appreciate your respect. I enjoyed this class and learned a lot.
Professor Manjong was on of the best professors Ive ever had. He really appreciates when you come to class, pay attention and participate. If you are unsure of something, make sure you set up an appointment and see him outside of class hours so he can help you. He is very helpful and is super caring!
Mr. Manjong is nice to those who listen and pay attention. Wait until class is over or meet him in his office if you have questions. He doesn't like interruptions. The only grades we had were 4 tests and the midterm, which you don't have to take if you passed the 4 tests. You only need the book if you want some practice for tests.
If you are a first time college student, do not take this teacher. His accent is difficult to understand most of the time and he does not like to listen to what students have to say. We asked him when the exam will be and he simply responded with "I don't know, why are you asking me?" If you ask a question, he would say "Did I not just say that?"
Socially: Does not answer a question, chastised students who do. Clarity: Does not explain what he wants, i.e verbally, rubric, syllabus, etc. Test: Are easy only if you previously taken the class, takes points off everything. Teaching style: Rambles, no student interaction or further explanations. 3/10
If you take this class (don't), know that this professor has a THICK accent, and mumbles so much that you can barely understand him when you are right in front of him; it makes things pretty difficult, especially with no chance for extra credit or make-up. You wanna ask a question? Be prepared to be made a fool of. Take this class at your own risk.
This lecturer is very straight forward in his lectures and exams. The questions he solve in class comes in the exams but only figures would change. So practice your note and you are good to go. I like the fact that he doesnt give pop quizzes or online assignment like others do. Please sign up for this class and you wont regret it. Easy A++
He gets mad when you ask him questions. One of the students asked him about his office hours and he ignored the student. We call him Mr. Rafiki behind his back, because of the way that he talks and how he's always rude.
Do yourself a favor and do not take this man as your instructor. He is extremely rude to his students and is a strict grader.
Took the 5 week Summer course. Go to class, take notes, participate in Q/A, and do the homework and this will be an easy A. The first two tests are easy and the second two are more challenging. Doing the homework was very helpful for the second two tests. Take notes exactly the way he does; they are worded the same way on the tests.
Hard to understand, His notes are out of order and off the top of his head. No icr or syllabus. No extra credit. 4 test grades for semester
Knows the subject himself but does not teach it well. He should not have a career in teaching.
Your grade is based on the average of 5 exams ONLY, NO homework, NO extra credit, nothing else so if you fail first 2 exams, might as well drop before drop date. His exams are three multiple choice exams(using scantrons) and two word problem exams(using blue/green books to show work). His accent is thick but note taking is crucial to pass his class
you receive your grade based off of 4 test the whole semester so if you don't understand you definitely need to find him during he's office hours and it will make your life a whole lot easier because he explains everything so well when you are just talking to him alone.
Honestly he knows his stuff. He is very intense when it comes to asking questions (I do not recommend). He comes off as rude and not very helpful. Do not bother being on your phone or you will fail as he hardly goes over things a second time. Studying on your own and really paying attention in class are key things to pass.
he is tough and rude nor he teaches well. won't ever take him again.
Mumbles quietly as he goes off on unrelated tangents in a very thick accent, and then becomes frustrated if you ask him a question or to repeat something and will refuse.
Let me just start off by saying this is the WORST teacher I've ever had. He mumbles throughout the entire class. He takes notes with RED SHARPIE ON A YELLOW NOTEPAD. Gives no homework so make sure you pass the test. Asked a question in regards to the lecture and he yells at me "DONT ASK ME, ASK YOUR CLASSMATES" Not sure what I pay him for then.
I can say if you want to pass and you show him that you are willing to do the work he will make sure you learn the material he is old school no computers just a pencil paper and your calculator this is the best instructor i have had i would take him again
