I would definetly recommend her for Calculus.
She teaches on a Kindergarten level and gives the test on Graduate level. And I can't believe I was placed into this class!! It was so hard. Temple blows.
her tests are ridiculous but she is an alright teacher
The is a horrible professor! No, Really, she doesn't teach well at all! Don't expect an easy grade in this class unless you want to get a tutor!
Don't take her! She doesn't know how to teach!
Worst teacher that I have ever had. She does not teach or do lesson plans. Does example from the begining of the chapter that have nothing to do with the homework assigned and the tests. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!
I think she is much better than other culculus professors. She explains the difficult materials very well. Just watch out, because she makes a lot of mistakes when she grades.
She is the worst teacher. Not only does she not explain the material adequately, she does NOT provide further help or office hours, she does NOT explain homework problems even when you ask her in class, her tests are **** consisting of 5 questions, does not speak clearly or uses proper grammar and she doesnt respect you as a student. SHE SUCKS
These ratings are way too low. She is not hard, and her tests come right from her notes and the homework problems. She also goes pretty slowly with the material and reviews the same concepts over and over again, taking time before tests and always asking if anyone had questions from the homework.
Terrible. Not helpful. Hard to understand. Quizzes every week & they are only a few problems so if u get one question wrong or make a mistake ur likely to fail it. Goes over problems from hw but is VERY unclear about strategies & concepts. No lesson plan and never really teaches a concept. OVERALL = BAD. I ended up withdrawaling.
She was an ok teacher but I already knew the material. If i entered the class totally new on the subject I would have had a very difficult time. My class had a lot of rude kids and she spent a lot of time and refocused a lot of energy having to deal with them
worse teacher ever had........
She is not a very good teacher. Try to avoid her at all costs. I've emailed her on two separate accounts during the semester and she is yet to return them. She is forgetful. She has walked into the classroom with quizzes without previously telling us about it. I'm very good in math but now I'm failing because of things like this.
Shes a good teacher and she explains things very procedureally (excuse my spelling). If you go to her office hours she will definitly help you out. As long as you know your precalc and keep up with your homework youll be fine. Shes a pretty easy grader, but she does ask hard questions.
These ratings are whack. Though sometimes her accent makes her a little unclear, she explains concepts very thoroughly. She is also a nice woman, from what I've seen all semester. I'd highly recommend her.
You're screwed if you get her and you never took calculus before.
She likes to take her time, so dont take calc with her over the summer. If you don't get frustrated with her slow note giving, she can be a big help
NO, dont take her. She is slow in teaching and doesnt really give partial credits in exams. Often makes me sleepy in class. I am glad that I know the materials before, feel sorry for those who are new to Cal3
this teacher is horrible.... she does not help you in her office hours i went once and she told me to go the the msrc. doesnt give any partial credit even if u cant answer right and skip some steps. teaches it like u already know the info and talks down to u. dont take her horrible.. and i got a C so its not like im bitter bc i failed.
Ok Teacher. Don't take her if your not that good at math. She moves through the material really fast and you'll have to teach yourself some stuff. Some questions she only partially answers but if your good at math you'll be fine. If you dont do all your homework and study alot you won't pass.
I'm a math major and she was the worst math teacher i've ever had. DON'T TAKE HER!
Quizzes affect your grade A LOT, but if you do your HW, you'll be fine. I could've gotten an A, but I barely did my HW, so I generally did poorly on the quizzes. She really wants everyone to understand the material, and tries her best to make sure you do. Calculus requires a lot of practice, so if you do bad in that class, it's mostly your fault.
Hard!!!...if you did not understand some problems from the homework, better ask. She gives quizzes from homework. Not explains completely, most of the material you would have to learn in your own.
This lady knows her stuff. Unfortunately, she's horrible at teaching. The Recitation teacher and she seem to have no correspondence, so that's a waste as well. Although it's not a huge problem, her English isn't all that good, so sometimes she misspells words and takes time to correct it, or says something that makes no sense.
Good teacher, explains things thoroughly, grading is slightly more strict than other professors, but it is definitely good preparation for further math classes, I still ended up with a B+ though. If calculus is required would recommend wholeheartedly as serves as strong preparation, however not good as an elective, or to take during a busy semester
She knows her stuff but she sucks at teaching it. She can be really mean at times. If you don't already know calculus I wouldn't recommend taking her. She's really hard to approach when asking for help. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!
CAL II class. She knows clearly about it. You cannot miss her class. she take attendance every class. quiz several times. not easy. BUT she teaches very well, if you can follow what she is saying. suggest to TAKE her CAL II class for CAL III.
Im the type who doesnt do homework, but will pass with an A. I took calc 2 once, and I failed to my surprise. I retook math 1042 with this teacher and I got an A easily. Honestly, if you follow her directions its impossible to fail. She teaches you like you're a baby, so you're bound to retain information and pass. TAKE HER!
I took her for 1041 and 1042. If you do the textbook problems, you will be fine. She is willing to spend time to help you out and is very nice.
I adore this lady. Her quizzes are pretty challenging and most people in my class didn't like her, but she knows what she's talking about and she's really sweet. If you aren't very good at math you shouldn't take her; sometimes she's hard to figure out and thinks you're stupid for not understanding. It's because she genuinely cares though.
She isn't the greatest teacher, but her quizzes were easy. For exams, just go to the review sessions and you'll be fine. She hates texting and will call you out on it. She also will call you out on skipping class. She kinda makes it feel like you're back in highschool.
Probably one of the best calc teachers out there. It's not easy, but she's nice, and explains everything, will answer questions, and spends a lot of time going over the theory behind the content. It's still a terrible class, and the common exams are more difficult than anything in the classroom, but that's a math dept issue, not one with her.
She is an awful teacher. Has a really bad accent that is hard to understand. She doesnt like cell phones and people leaving during class. Its almost like high school all over again with her. DONT TAKE HER
I thought, all together, she was a very fair teacher. I had no previouis knowledge with calc but I still ended up with a B (decent grade for calc, those who took it will understand). She is willing to take alot of time out class to answer student's question about homework. If you do bad in her class it is no one elses fault but your own.
Worst math teacher I've ever had in my life. Made so many mistakes when she taught. Confusing. She didn't have anything to say if you did badly. She provided no additional help to her students whatsoever. And she absolutely DID NOT prepare you for the exam. And she'd waste time reviewing hard hw problems assigned rather than teach us how to doit
does the easiest problems from the book and expects you to be able to do web assign. seems like she doesnt care. doesnt even grade her own quizzes. honestly, webassign taught me the little i know. she knows her stuff, but then again, that is her job. she just doesnt convey the information well. dont expect quizzes back till like 2 weeks later.
she pretty much said last class "yeah, we are so behind. we have 4 classes before the exam and i have to cover 5 sections , and review. i have been going slow on the easy stuff, but im gonna speed up on the really hard stuff."
I was always good in math, so i had no problems with my grade. But she is a great teacher that really takes time into answering your questions. She drops 2 of your quizzes and are easy as long as you do the H.W. And test weren't so bad if you do the H.W and review afterwards. I would recommend anyone to take her!
Prof. Triantafillou is overall a poor quality teacher, (I already took AP calc in high school before I had her so I knew material). However others really struggled to learn in her class. She does very basic examples and relies on the textbook. Half the time she does the problem wrong. Have her for calc 2 and she's awful. Avoid her if you can...
A decent professor who seems to care how her students are doing. She does her best to explain concepts but can be a little vague sometimes. Whenever that happens, ASK FOR CLARIFICATION! If you're taking Calc III with her, there's no excuse for not doing well if you do the homework and ask for help when you need it.
She genuinely cares about her students and wants them to do well. She doesn't do a whole lot of examples in class unless you ask her to. I encourage going to her office for help if you're struggling with the material, she's very resourceful. Calc II can be challenging, but overall I'd say she did a pretty good job teaching it. I'd recommend her.
She does very easy examples and then pulls out the most difficult ones for quizzes, and even harder ones for tests. Learn the formulas fast and make sure you are good with trigonometry. She thinks she's funny and will call you out for talking. I would not recommend her unless you already know the material for Calculus 2.
i don't understand what she said on the class, what she wrote on blackboard, how she graded us. literally, learn by myself. anyway, it's impossible to get an A in her class, if you want to get an A.
it's so funny when people trying to encourage others to take her class, you probably can find a balance when other spend money and time while didnt get a good grade on it as you.
She is horrible. She always acted like we knew what she was talking about even though she hadn't taught anything yet. Missed so much class and office hours. Class consists of her going over HW that she never taught... over and over and over again. Avoid.
She is a great teacher. Like any class at Temple, you have to put the work in or you will not do well. Don't listen to the people saying to not take her class. Had her for Calc 1 and did fine. Just do the homework problems and ask questions and you'll be alright.
She is one of the best calc professors at Temple. Like any class at Temple, you have to be willing to put the work in to get a good grade. She did tons of problems and taught exactly what was going to be on the test. She doesnt like cell phones but can you blame her? Youre in class to learn. But overall, highly recommend her as a teacher.
Clear teacher, good at explaining concepts, but could be intimidating and not very friendly. If I missed class or didnt understand something, I was afraid to ask for help because she could make you feel stupid.
She helped us if we did her work.
Her lecture isn't too interesting but they are clear. She is willing to help you with any homework or if you are not clear about any problems. She tries her best to explain the problem to you. Quiz every week, but they are easy, as long as you do the homework. The homework is also easy and you can finish them in around 30 mins.
Very professional, very passionate about teaching, answers any question and spends as much time needed to go over the material. Probably one of the best math teachers that i have ever had. This is my second time having her, and i know i am not the best student, but every lecture that she has given was always thorough, and never rushed.
she still makes you write every formula on quizzes... in calc 3. do yourself a favor and take someone who isn't the worst grader of all time
She's nice enough and will answer any questions you have in class and in office hours. Grades pretty harshly on quizzes. Doesn't use the webassign which is good. Temple math department in general is awful and the tests are NEVER representative of the homework. I get or two difficult problems on exams but every problem is WAY harder than homework.
One of the best teachers I have ever had. In the very beginning of the semester, she told us she was not going to let us memorize calculus; we were to truly learn it, and that I did. Phenomenal lectures, definitely strict and obsessed with homework, but she is clear and really good at her job. Tests are average difficulty, final was a difficult.
AVOID. Terrible policies, bad attitude, and mediocre lecturing skills. Attendance was mandatory and graded, but I ended up learning all the material outside of class through the textbook and lectures on youtube. Worked halfway through most math problems and then went "you can do the rest yourselves". Homework is checked and graded before quizzes.
She stands directly in front of her writing when she writes examples on the board, explains the examples poorly, and is not very attentive to student concerns on questions. Does not prepare students very well for the common exams at all. Spends way too much time focusing on the basic material and back-loads the complex topics leading up to exams.
I had an awful professor for MATH1942 so Triantafillou is a breath of fresh air. She speaks with a soft Hispanic accent. She grades homework randomly but only for completion. She has biweekly quizzes but takes questions right before them & always asks if we understand when she introduces a new topic. Unlike my Calc2 professor she actually cares
I ended up teaching myself because she makes you look idiot in front of your class! I watched youtube videos outside of the class. Cant understand her accent and there was literally a time she copied all the formula from textbook to board and asked us to take a picture. Grades quizzes and tests harshly and not approachable at all.
If attendance doesnt count as part of the grade, no one would show up at her lecture. She loves putting people on spots and she tells everyone to go to tutor session because she doesnt want student to go to her office hour. Not helpful, not approachble, not understandable and constantly solve the hw wrong and redo which makes the class tedious.
She is a very dedicated professor and always wants you to succeed. Her quizzes encapsulate all the material you have learned from previous lessons and it is the great guideline to study for the exam. Calc 3 is generally hard for everyone but she will be there to help you. Take her and you will do well
She wants her students to do well on the tests and checks homework to make sure you care about this class.
Its calc 3 and difficult mostly for everyone and I believe she did a great job teaching her class since our class' average is highest among the department. She assigns challenging quizzes but they are very similar to the exams and she also posted the solutions to her quizzes. Do the homework and the quizzes she assigns you'll ace the exams.
Dr. Triantafilou is really caring, but try not to forget doing your homework on Webassign before class.
Basically, Georgia doesn't really care whether her students pass or fail. She is a ridiculous grader, and will take off as many points as humanly possible with little explanation. Your work must mirror the textbook exactly. If you absolutely HAVE to take her for class, make sure you sit in the front and pay attention to her every word.
Class with this prof is literal torture. Never sat through something that was both so boring and so infuriating. I had her for calc 1 and I was lost most of the time because she teaches like this is a refresher course when for me it was the first time seeing a lot of the material. Only take if you are repeating a course.
I had already taken calc 1 in high school so I did have a good foundation. This professor graded her weekly quizzes pretty harshly but that just made us all the more prepared for the exams. She also gave ample time for questions, even right before taking quizzes. She set aside plenty of time to review for each of the 3 exams as well.
Decides that the best way to teach is to just do problems without really explaining what is going on. Most of the stuff that I learned in that class was through research and watching videos.
There was a time I had to go for a conference and the quiz was normally on that day of class, but she changed it into a take home quiz, and she had never did take-home quiz, that was what I appreciate most about my professor.
Prof. Triantafillou is amazing! She made everything easier and clear. Highly recommends her for calculus.
worst math professor i've had so far. she assigned SO much hw both online and written. she checks written homework randomly. quizzes were hard but one time she gave us a take home quiz. lectures were decent, but she didn't do enough homework review. i got an A in Calc 1 and breezed through but she made calc 2 so much harder than it had to be
Hands down, Professor Triantafillou is the best!! She makes calculus easy. Everybody take her for calc!
She teaches ridiculously intuitive and knows her material very deeply. I honestly don't think there is one thing she memorized in her lecture materials, just think her as a Sal Khan only honors version. You may find the course difficult if what I just said doesn't excite you, but if you are a math nerd like me, absolutely take her.
I think her lectures are relatively useful, however, she is a very harsh grader on the quizzes. She is the type that will take points off if she doesn't like how you set up your work even if you got the right answer.
She does not make her class a class that you want to go to at all. Do not take it with her on Tuesday Thursdays because the 100 minute class will feel like a lifetime.
3 midterms for the class, and its calc 3 so it will likely be difficult with whoever you have, but she did a great job explaining things, she encouraged questions and was happy to repeat problems, DID NOT ASSIGN WEEKLY hw other than midterm review questions before each exam. Super kind and friendly! Not sure why she has low reviews, take her class!
Although she is more strict than the other professors, she puts a lot of work and effort into teaching Calculus and gives a fairly good workload and challenging quizzes every week to make sure you study hard and are well prepared for the 3 exams and the final.
Super hard to understand. Lectures are mandatory and feel like an eternity long and are ultimately useless. Quizzes and exams are hard and harshly graded. Homework is not graded until months later. Finally, exams for the Tuesday/Thursday 8am are on Friday nights which really sucks as a college student.
Really glad I enrolled into her class. She will tell you everything you need to know/memorize for the tests and will answer your emails in less than 24 hours. She does have quizzes almost every week, but the quizzes really help with understanding the material more and is a great (extra) review for the test.
I like her, I do. She's just a really tough grader. I got barely passing grades because of notation, even if I got the correct answer. I would NOT take her for a TR section. I felt like we needed more explanation before quizzes. I wish I took a MWF with her because she's a good professor, calc is just HARD. TOUGH! GRADER! Georgia is nice though.
I had her in Fall of 2019. Her accent is a little strong but in the end, she knows what she's talking about. Quizzes are doable but challenging, homework was optional.
Calculus is already a tough subject, but I had a hard time connecting ANY dots the way she explained material; I frequently met with tutors. She's very nice and truly wants to inspire students, but I wish I had never taken the course.
She is really tough on notation, but gives great feedback, so once you make a mistake once, you won't do it again. I have always struggled with math and I pulled an A in this class by being diligent with homework and studying. She pays attention to who participates and asks for help. 8AM calc always would have sucked, but she made it bearable <3
She gets the material through to you in class but that is definitely not sufficient for doing well in her weekly quizzes and exams. Her homework was once a week but way too much like 30-40 questions per week and as a student with so many other classes, this stressed me out and made it harder for me to learn the material.
I can only say negative things about this nightmare of a professor. This woman gaslighted me and made me feel like I was wrong, but when anyone else would teach me calc I would understand it fully. She once took off 5 points on a 3 question quiz because she could not read my negative sign. AVOID GEORGIA AT ALL COST!! It will save your gpa.
This was a particularly hard course for me, but Professor Triantafillou worked hard in answering all of my questions. She has really neat handwriting, that she makes sure is large enough for everyone to read, and she even jokes around from time to time. I truly believe she helped me get this A.
Good, clear, kind, and patient. Went through examples in detail.
Prof. Triantafillou taught me both calculus 1 and 2. Her lectures are not fun, but they convey the material clearly. You will have a quiz a week. She is a tough grader, but if you just listen and take notes in her lectures you will be fine. Do the homework, the quizzes are similar. She left me with a firm understanding of these fundamental topics.

Did not enjoy having Triantafillou as a professor. Taught us the bare minimum of what she felt was needed while giving quizzes that were more difficult than what she taught. She also gave us more homework than any other calc professor. Told me and a friend that we will not pass the class, even with two big exams left & the friend has a good grade.
Professor presents all of the material clearly and thoroughly. She goes in depth on every topic and prepares you for quizzes and tests. If you ask questions, she answers politely. If you need her to explain a problem you don't understand, she makes time to explain each step for you. She encourages you to get ahead so you do better in her class.
Decent prof for people who already took calc. She is very particular about the work expected to be shown on the exams. Weekly quizzes and tons of weekly homework worth only 17% of the grade. Study hard for the exams and you will do well. Expect to spend 8-10 hours minimum per week for her class. I learned most of the content from my private tutor.
Professor Triantafillou is a great if you're already familiar with Calculus. There is lots of homework and a quiz every week. She goes over problems in detail and really encourages to ask questions. She is a tough grader, but clearly explains what your answer on a quiz should look like in terms of notation. The course is hard if you miss class.
Triantafillou is a tough professor. Although direct when it comes to teaching her lectures are very mundane. She constantly changes the test date which was rather annoying. She's a tough grader and takes off points for minor things on quizzes. She also assigns a heavy load of homework that is expected to be done in less than a week.
Very hard to understand in class when she makes things unnecessarily complicated. Not only is she unwilling to help people outside of class, but she also gives a ridiculous amount of homework (sometimes 50+ problems) with no consideration of other students' schedules. I learned more from tutors outside of this class.
Dr. Triantafillou was an interesting professor to say the least. I took her for Calculus I during my first semester at Temple, and she had decent lectures. She did tend to say strange things occasionally, and the fact that I had her 8:00 AM section did not help make what she said any better. Had an extensive quote list by the end of the semester.
Very boring instructor who takes way too much for granted regarding how much knowledge students walk into her class with. I wouldn't say she's unhelpful, if you try to work with her she's fine, but her whole demeanor is just kind of apathetic towards the success of her students.
Professor Triantafillou is an intense calculus instructor, but her thorough approach pays off. Weekly quizzes and tough exams, but pay attention in class and utilize resources like the textbook and Unstuck study to succeed. Worth the effort for a solid foundation.
