I took this Prof. Xydes during the second summer session and she was wonderful! I am not much of a history buff but her lectures were interesting and no one fell asleep in our 3 hour and 40 minute class once. The tests consisted of mult. choice, short answers and an essay. She gives many ways to get extra credit on the tests. Highly Recommend
Prof. Xydes is an excellent lecturer. I enjoyed her class tremendously. Tests are very long and writing intensive. She gives credit for what you know. Very nice lady. Have to write 2 book analyses for an A, 1 for a B. Gives chocolate to students who score A's on tests, Makes treats on test day. Fun class.
She is a great speaker. Spoke clear, fast at times but doesn't mind repeating. She loves history and tries to rub that off at times. We wrote alot of notes off the projector. Tests are easy, you get to pick the format as a class. She bakes for you :). Listen in class and she gives the test questions, they'll be the ones she talks most about.
Great Professor, keeps the class interesting, shes one of those cool old people.
Great teacher, extremely knowledgeable. Made history fun ( I know, right?). Take her class, by far the most interesting class I have ever taken.
really helped a ton!
handse down the BEST teacher i have ever had. her tests are easy if you pay attention, her lectures are humorous and she gives you cookies and candy bars. she is AWESOME
THE BEST HISTORY TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD! She is very helpful and makes history interesting. I learned more in her class in one semester than i lfetime in high school classes. Her tests are straightforward, but it is crucial to always attend class. I would recommend her to anyone.
Great professor. She always made her lessons very clear, did reviews before test . . . Only thing you have to do for an A is read two books and do a review and have an average of 90 or above. The tests have a page of multiple choice questions and like 3 pages of short essays. She considers a lot on those short essays and gives extra credit points
GREAT TEACHER! She bakes for you on test days!! Also has reviews before every test--GO TO THEM. Speak out in class, she'll like you more. Do the book reviews if you want an A. She is very easy to talk to and sincerely tries to help you. The tests are multiple choice and short answer--include everything you know in the short answer for more points!
AWESOME PROFESSOR. SHE LOVES TO TEACH, AND SHE IS TRULY THERE TO HELP HER STUDENTS. I DREADED HISTORY BUT SHE MADE CLASS VERY INTERESTING. I HAD AN EARLY CLASS BUT I DID NOT MIND WAKING UP EARLY SO I COULD ATTEND HER CLASS. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS TEACHER, SHE HAS TO BE ONE OF THE SCHOOL'S BEST TEACHERS.
awesome professor! she is very clear in what to study, i didn't really use the book just mainly studied the power points. gives you extra credit on test if you answer short answer with more than what she asked for. test are very clear and come right from the notes i made a B+! i would defiantly recommend her!!
took a summer class, and I made a C b/c I didn't study well. But, this class was awesome. The professor really loves to teach history, and it's her passion. If you want to make an A in that class, take a good note, read the textbook, do book review, and don't skip the class. Overall, great class
Love this professor! She is awesome! Loves to teach and cares about her students! Will miss her! Grades fair and keeps you very interested! My class is in the morning and I am always excited to go and listen to her lecture!! Wonderful Professor!!
Dr. Xydes always brings delicious homemade cookies on test days! She is straight foward and gives make-up test if you fail. LISTEN to all her lectures. Everything she talks about will be on test. If she doesn't mention it, don't worry about it. Write down the all powerpoint slides! She's a terrific grader and teacher. I recommend her!
xydes is an amazing teacher. i took history 2 with her and i couldnt have been more pleased! Her lectures are sure to keep the whole class interested. Test are from the lectures be sure to come to class.
Xydes has such a passion for history and it shows in her lectures. If you show up, listen and take notes, you should pass her class just fine. No homework, just one optional paper that you have to do to get an A. Lots of extra credit offered on tests, so really know material. Definitely take from her.
LOVE HER!! She is an amazing professor! It shows that she loves what she's doing, and her way of teaching makes it so that you can easily remember each and every topic. Take good notes and you wont need the book. Also she brings cookies on test days because "sugar helps you think" hehehe, loved her class!
Hands down the number 1 History professor I have ever had in my life! If you just pay attention on what she covers in class and take notes then you should be good because she makes her own exams and if she doesn't cover something in class then she doesn't put that on the exam. The more you write on the exam the more extra points you get!
Amazing professor. Brings cookies to class (kit kat as well). Makes class interesting and worth attending.
She is an amazing professor. She is super interesting and her lectures keep you very intrigued and she tells them like a story. She uses powerpoints & uploads them on Black Board. Tests are half multiple choice and the rest are short answers. Take good notes and read chapters and you will get an A! Gives lots of extra credit on tests! TAKE HER!
I have never had an interest for history as much as I do today all thanks to Xydes. Wow, she really loves history and she will make you love it toO. The way she talkS about the events makes you feel like you're actually there or watching a movie. *she brings cookies the day of a test* TAKE HER CLASS!
She is the best History teacher I've ever had. She has such a passion for it and brings in newspaper clippings showing you how relevant history really is. DON'T TAKE IF YOU EXPECT AN EASY A. Show up, take notes, do the book report and you can make an A. It's the only class I've never skipped.
the BEST teacher i've ever had in my life! it's a lot of info to study, but since you are required to take this class, i'd go with her. she's not picky about exact dates, but you should be ball-park. offers extra credit on tests. makes class fun, brings cookies on test days. wish every teacher were like her. extremely fair & intelligent love her!
Great professor. Read go to class and you shouldn't have much issue. You have many opportunities for extra credit. You are actually credited for your retention of the material (which makes sense). Her class was like a break throughout the school week for story time, and I enjoyed it greatly. Probably my favorite class of the year. I learned a lot.
Prof Xydes is awesome! Makes pre civil war hist interesting. Lectures are fun & her passion for the subject is contagious. Pay attention during class, tests come right from material covered in class. Tests are split of M/C & short response Tests on retention. Gives extra points/EC for add'l info. One book review. Go to class & pay attention. Easy A
History teacher I enjoyed her style of teaching There is not a dull moment in her class most every student is at the edge of their seats and very much engaged. in a boring subject like HISTORY. You get your money's worth!!!
She's so nice and graceful! In class she sneaks in sly jokes that are funny, brings cookies on test days, has interactive talks- powerpoints she explains with class participation, and videos too. Extra credit is on tests or like a movie. VERY good class!
She is amazing! Go to class and pay attention and you don't even need a book. I used to hate history and after I took her HIST 1 and 2 I'm considering it as my major. Mind-blowing lectures, doesn't care for dates. She traveled all over the world and has so many interesting stories. Take her class and you won't regret. I promise. The best!
Xydes is awesome! She is so passionate about what she does which makes history so interesting! Everything she lectures about is on the test, you'll have to do some reading, though! I didn't and I still passed! BUT if I did read I would have made an A, I just had a lot going on. Book report optional but DO IT! SHE IS THE BEST, TAKE HER! :)
The BEST professor I have had at ACC. I was not excited at all to be taking this class again after failing the first time, she made it so worth it. I enjoyed every minute of it and did not miss one class due to being to interested. Highly recommend her, she is also very sweet and funny.
Took U.S. History part 1,Teaches history you didn't learn in high school! Most knowledgeable history prof I've ever talked to. Keep up with suggested textbook readings, and take notes on the book, but most importantly in class. ASK QUESTIONS, and definitely DO the book assignment to get above a C. Tests are half multiple choice, half short answer
Xydes clearly is very knowledgable about the topic and cares about student success. She also brings cookies on test days, which is very sweet. She's very receptive to student input. Paying attention in class is essential, and her review sheet is very useful for studying for the test. Would take again.
Lectures were fun and you didn't just feel like it a lot of information was being thrown at you. Pay attention in class and you'll pass.
Really good class.
Go to the optional study sessions and answer( in detail) the questions on the study sheet she'll give you, this should get you ready for the short answer questions on the test. Additionally she wont feel inclined to bump up your grade unless you answer questions in class, so be informed and read the book the book. there's also a mandatorybookreview
I love this professor. I didn't miss a single class because I never wanted to miss a lecture from her. She's inspiring and motivating and you can tell how much she cares about her students. Take her class, you won't regret it!
Took her for summer class. Everyday go over ppt that is online on blackboard and does lecture over it. super interesting, no one was bored and this is a history class. gives a study guide on syllabus, answer those q's after class and you are solid. test is 26 mc, 11 fill in and short answer. tough grader on the required essay. lots of extra credit.
She is an amazing teacher! I took her 6 week summer course and it was hard due to all the reading but I would say just listen in class and answer study guide questions before you read. She always brings cookies before you take a test! :)
This is what every teacher should be. She has the perfect balance of humanity and academia and is utterly interesting and I've always said a good teacher is someone who can take the material and make anyone like it. I am a math major and historically don't like liberal arts but this was my favorite class. Take this class!
I took Georgia for History 1 and History 2. I love her teaching and she is tough but you really learn history. listen in class and focus studying that rather than the book. She is amazing!! she brings cookies or brownies every test and she really cares about her students. Have her look at your test review and do the book report!!
I took an 8 week course with Professor Xydes, and while it was obviously harder than a regular class, Professor Xydes made it possible to pass. She gives great lectures and is very upbeat and funny. Don't skip class cause not everything is in the book. If you have nearly perfect attendance she will take that into consideration for your final grade
I took her class and she is just fine. Her lectures are a bit confusing to me because all 4 exams I took in her class did not have the info she lectured on. I do not like how she used any opportunity to use the N word when "quoting" how African Americans were referred to in the past by whites. Her grading is lenient. She makes cookies on testday
Loved this class! As someone who loves history, this class wasn't very difficult. I'm the type of learner that learns best from lectures and Xydes gives some of the best I've ever experienced. She's super chill and hilarious. She'll help you get a good grade with lots of makeup options and extra credit. Pay attention and you'll nail the course.
By far one of the best teachers I've ever had at ACC. She really cares for her students. While the class is a lot of work, it's worth it to write a book report to get an A or a B. I don't even major in liberal arts and I made an A in both classes (not without a lot of work!). Her lectures are story time. Also bakes cookies on test days!!!
This teacher. Let me start by saying how caring this professor is. Each and every student, in all of her classes, she learns their name and personality and has a unique spot in her heart for each of us. AND HER LECTURES? She needs to write a book the way she speaks! In fact, that book would sell a million copies and called "BEST SELLER"! DO IT! :D
Dr. Xydes was awesome! I took her 8 week US History I course which was pretty easy. I started class reading the textbook but decided to stop for some reason and ended up with an A. Something not mentioned in previous ratings... YOU HAVE TO DO A BOOK REPORT FOR AN A OR B! Her cookies were great and she had a great SI (go to them if you can!!!)
Professor Xydes was awesome, great history teacher. Her tests are half multiple choice and half essay, I recommend recording her lectures and re-listening to them and you'll do great. You HAVE to do a book report if you want higher than a C which kinda sucks because I Aced all her test but still finished with a C due to not doing the book report.
Great teacher that really cares about your education! She makes it really hard to fail her course. Only tests on what we cover in class and gives you an opportunity to do a book evaluation to earn an A. She brings home made cookies to every test and is just a bad ass lady in general. TAKE HER CLASS U WILL NOT REGRET!
Great teacher that really cares about your education. I would take her class again. She is without a doubt the best professor I ever had.
Professor Xydes was a fantastic lecturer. She made an 8 AM history lecture engaging and brought baked goods for tests. She genuinely cares about her students and went out of her way to learn everyone's names and some information about them.
5.5 wk summer session. Best teacher I've ever had. Passionate about history, really knows her stuff. Great lectures that keep you engaged with lots of examples. Just skim book. Must do worksheets & reviews for test. Must show up for class- all you need to know is in the lectures. Take lots of notes. Book report required for A/B. Great cookies.
Professor Xydes was one of the most interesting professors I have ever had. She is extremely likable, funny and has lots of stories and experiences in her toolbelt. Showing up and giving yourself ample time to study is definitely necessary in order to succeed in here. I am not too crazy about history but this class was incredibly interesting.
Great teacher, but get ready to read and to take notes in class. You don't purchase the book you will fail because the exams she gives you are based on what chapters she told you to read. Also, it's important to attend class because she covers lots of material.
I had to drop out of her class, but she was incredible. I wish I had more time to read the textbook to be more prepared for her test. I have learned a lot of things in her class.
Georgia Xydes is really a great teacher. She actually cares about the students lives and just wants us to realize how important it is to know history and know what's going on in our government. I took her for US History 1 & 2 and was able to make an A+ both semesters. Do the book report, study for the tests and you'll be fine. BEST HISTORY TEACHER.
Professor Xydes was a really sweet lady who really cares about her students. Her 4 tests were SO hard in my opinion. Even though there is some extra credit on her test, it was really hard to study. There are 26 MC and 5 shorts answers. There is a required a 7-8 pages book review if you want an A or a B as well which wasn't that easy.
She's really nice and if you attend, take notes and just try to keep up you will do fine. She is a good and interesting lecturer.
You have to read and show up to lectures which are amazing and informative. I wish I had taken 1301 with her! She brings sweets on test day and every A test got me a candy bar. Read the book and attend lecture and you should be fine. You have to do the paper for an A or a B, but you have plenty of time to get it done so no excuses.
Georgia Xydes is a really awesome teacher! She is easy to follow, knows her material, and is super nice! Highly recommended! Be aware that she is a pretty tough grader on her tests, and she does allow retests, but only up to a 70% avg. So study hard! and make sure you come to class, otherwise it is hard to keep up. Great job Prof Xydes!
She seemed really strict the first day of class but was an amazing professor and really passionate about her subject. The tests were multiple choice, short answer, and short essay. She's one of the most entertaining professors I've had, would definitely take again.
She is a really good teacher. Her lectures are funny, and she genuinely cares about her students. She is also a very nice person, but I would highly suggest reading the textbook because even though she doesn't require it, it helps a lot
AMAZING!! She makes her lectures interesting, I looked forward to coming to class! Tests arn't to bad if you pay attention and study the study guide. She likes details so the more you write on the written responses on the tests the better your grade. Loved her class, would take again. Recommend this class!
Lectures are quality, expects you to learn but does her job to teach. Take notes during lecture, and fill out/study the test study guide. If you apply yourself you can get a good grade. Start your book report early if you plan to make an A or B. Quality class and you will walk out having learned about history. You get out what you put in.
Professor Xydes is an awesome professor! I took her for an 8 weeks class which hard enough but taking her made the class much easier. A lot of info to cover but she gives great lectures and tells you whats important for her tests. There is always extra credit available if you do fall behind and she always answers questions in & out of class.
Professor Xydes is amazing! I look forward to going to her class and listening to her lectures. I even find myself on my free time reading historical events, trying to acquire more knowledge even though I am not a history major. There is a book evaluation that needs to be done, not a big deal. Show up every day and take notes. You will do great!
I am not a fan of history.. but man did I really like this class. She loves her subject with a passion and its so clear. She will even show you pictures of her going to the battle fields and all that jazz. Her tests are hard so be prepared to study WELL. She is a sweetheart and when I averaged at an 89 she still gave me the A.
Best teacher ever. Very nice and cares a lot about her students.
RECORD HER LECT. IT WILL HELP! After recording it, you have to listen to it and write down notes in that same week. Those notes will help you on the test. DONT MISS A CLASS. Whatever she says in class would be on the test (some of it will not but it was easy). Pick one book and that will give you an A or a B, by the total of the tests. she is nice
she dose give you a chance to retake test but is multiple questions. The book is highly recommended for the class. she says its not but get it and read it. Last thing is that don't skip class.
She is awesome. Truly an amazing person who delivers great lectures. You can tell she cares for her students and puts time into her lectures. Grading consists of 4 tests and one optional paper. Put in effort and you will be fine. However, do not mess with her as she will tell you on the first day of class. Take her class.
Best professor I've had at ACC, you can tell she cares about the material and about teaching her students. Don't slack off In this class, get the textbook and read it, it really does make a difference. don't skip class or get notes from someone else because she brings up stuff each day that will be on the test,
Xydes is an amazing professor that makes you work hard for your grade. I was terrified half the time of passing, but I also rarely had time in my schedule to read the textbook. The time I did, sat down and studied, I got a B on the tests. Read the textbook and don't miss class! I never studied before, but her class made me and I'm thankful it did.
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! Would take again. One of the best professors I have had, made learning history entertaining and enjoyable.
She makes history interesting. However, her tests are extremely hard and only 4 tests and a paper for A/B. She allows you to retest but the maximum will be only 70. She is very tough, if you arrive 2 minutes late, she will write down your name and take your point off at the end semester. ESL students DO NOT take her or ur GPA will being pushed down
I absolutely love professor Xydes' lectures, she knows a lot about history and shares many interesting facts about it during class. Her exams are tough and it is hard to get an excellent on the book review (needed to get an A). However, if you go to class and take many many many notes and puts a lot of effort on your book review you can do it.
Syllabus and tests are all over the place. Ridiculous amount of work and tough grader. I wrote a 13 page essay(received no credit) and she wouldn't round my 78 up to a 80. Nice person, unorganized, 25+ study time a week for a B+
Professor Xydes was the absolute best. She really knows her stuff and had very useful test reviews.
Horrible semester with this professor, she was nice. However, she is very unorganized and is a tough grader when it comes to your short answers on test questions. I WOULD NOT TAKE HER AGAIN.
RECORD her lecture, take note & study PowerPoint. Didn't read the book at all but still get an A. 4 tests and 1 paper for A/B (I wrote about American pandemic 1918 & got Excellent). Retest maximum is only 70 so don't mess up any test. Her lecture is on Youtube now so you can check it out. Hard test, try to write as much as you can for extra credit.
She is so cool. There is no homework, all you have to do is exams and a paper at the end of the semester to get an A. Exams are straightforward and are covered by the study guides.
Compared to other professors, she's pretty good...I probably won't take her again just because of personality things but good prof. Test questions come from lectures, the quotes she reads, and the info. & photos from PP slides. The more specific you are on short answers and the book report better grade. Straightforward but not easy by any means.
Xydes is a really kind person but I really struggled with her teaching style. I found the lectures to be confusing and tests really hard to study for
Her grading criteria is very confusing. She gives "extra credit" assignments for movies that you have to pay for access, so you have to spend money and do writing work to get extra credit. She only gives students who are making an B in the class to write a book review to raise their grade. Everything is just confusing and frustrating.
The grading criteria are somewhat understandable but it lacks the fair grading between each student with having films that will cost you just for extra credit in her tests. Heavy in lectures too, every video 30 mins with 6-12 of them each unit (2 weeks or so each) Each test was also irregularly scheduled and made deadlines confusing.
Came back to give her another review. Few years later and still remember her class. One of the few classes I really enjoyed going to and that actually made me like learning history. Take advantage of the study sessions if they are available because it really helped me on the tests.
This class requires a lot of reading. You also have to do an analytical book review in order to receive an A or B in the class. Emails are sent out regularly. Read the book and watch her YouTube videos and you'll do fine! The book review isn't needed to pass. Tests are only released during certain hours! Great professor overall.
I took her for History 1302 and learned that In order to be successful in this class, you must read the book + take notes on her youtube videos + study guide + slides! As you can see I got a C in the class I ignored the videos and guys dont be me. She's a tough grader but she has the best intentions and that is to actually learn!
The best professor I have ever had. She is joyful and kind and is an incredible person. If you never have her for a class you will regret it. She is the most inspiring woman I have ever met. I had her class in Spring of 2020 but I came back to review her again because that's how amazing she is. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Prof. Xydes is a real gem! Her classes are engaging, interesting, and inspiring. All her lectures could also be found on her channel on youtube. Take detailed notes and you will be fine. Highly recommend attending SI appointments. Book report needed for A and B grades (dept requirement). She schedules exams to accommodate everyone's availability.
If you have a full time job and are taking multiple classes, DO NOT take this class. 4 exams, no extra credit. Must read all ch's, watch her YT videos AND pay to watch movies for the exams. Exams are usually 32 Q's long, 22 Multiple choice & 10 Worded response. Take at your own risk. Prof is nice but very tough grader & doesn't care for excuses.
You can tell she really loves history and loves to teach it. Her class is overall easy if you pay attention and watch the videos she links. The questions on the test aren't online either so make sure to study and you'll do fine. There are short answer questions on the test where u need to be specific as possible or she won't give you credit
Old-school professor with much knowledge to share with her students. You will need to study and pay attention to succeed in this class, but you will learn a great deal not only about the US history, but its culture and legal cycles. 4 tests, 1 book evaluation. After-class supplemental instruction with a TA was the highlight of my year.
I struggle with history because I don't find it interesting, but she made it enjoyable. She explained things in ways she knew we would understand better. It's a very manageable class as long as you read chapters & study for tests. I got a C is because in order to get an A or B in the class you have to do a book report, & I chose not to.
Professor Xydes is an amazing teacher! She has her lectures on Youtube for her students. If you take notes over the lectures (each video is about 30 minutes) you will pass the class. Take good notes so you can copy and paste your notes to the exam for a successful semester! She made history interesting to learn about. I loved my experience with her
An amazing professor. I have never cared about history but she makes history very interesting to learn about. She only graded around 5 assignments the entire semester, four of them being tests for each unit. Watching her youtube videos is very helpful and watch them as review before a test.
Amazing class and outstanding professor! I'll be honest, history is not my favorite subject, but Professor Xydes made history so much more fascinating for me. Be sure to attend her classes/lectures. Also, she has Youtube videos that are helpful for test review. Take notes and be sure to study. Overall, one of the best classes I've taken!
Really enjoyed coming to her class. She does a great job at telling history like a story and keeping it interesting. She is very passionate and has a fiery spirit. She wants you to understand the overall themes in history and not mindlessly memorize dates. She says "I'll never ask you for the dates" and she means it. Great professor.
Very good professor. Understanding and gives lots of extra credit. Her lectures are fun and she brings her own experience into the lectures (she has been almost everywhere)
Professor Xydes is one of the best professors I've had. The lectures she gives in class are interesting and she shows her passion for history through her teaching. All of her lectures are available on her YouTube channel. You could really tell she cares for her students and wants them to learn. Make sure to start your book evaluation early though.
I liked her way of no homework but instead heavy lectures
Best teacher I could have asked for. Her lectures are always engaging and she tells you interesting personal stories. Make sure you participate and don't miss more than 1-2 classes because she notices and will consider that when giving grace points. It is a test-heavy class. Lectures are also on her YouTube.
Would not take again.
Professor Xydes is a great instructor! If you plan on getting an A in this course be ready to write a 10+ page book evaluation this is the only way you will be given a chance to receive an A. This course is completely self driven she gives outline to fill out with material. For success in this course you MUST read the textbook. Exams were tough.
10 page book evaluation is crazy so dont take it.
Genuinely one of the best instructors I have ever had. Her grading process is 4 exams that have multiple choice/fill-in-the-blank and a few free-response questions, with a book review of your choice to get an A. Her lectures not only help you organize the info from the textbook, but they are extremely engaging, and she is truly an inspiration.
Fantastic lecturer; the scope of her knowledge is incredibly broad. Her lectures are dense with information, but that keeps them engaging. I like that she talked about the personalities of the historical figures. The tests are difficult but fair; be prepared for short answer/essay questions. She's truly a great person and gets to know her students.
Professor Xydes is an amazing teacher, I highly recommend her! In order to get an A though, you have to do a lengthy book review, so make sure to not procrastinate on that. The rest of the class is just four tests, so make sure to take notes, study, and rewatch the lectures she posts on her Youtube. She is a sweet, funny and engaging professor!
I had Professor Xydes for the spring semester of 2024 and loved it! She cares a lot about her students and while her exams are tough she gives very interesting and fun lectures. If you take notes and pay attention you will pass. Also, she does not allow technology which I didn't mind.Take her class!
Georgia Xydes is a great professor because In that class I had supplement instruction in their as well to help you get a better understanding of her material. She also gives out worksheets to help you prepare for the Exams and lets us talk into groups for collaboration and get to her class on time to get full credit.
Professor Xydes is engaging and passionate. Lectures are interesting, but the class requires commitment - read the textbook, attend class, and complete the book review to do well. unstuckstudy was a great study aid alongside other resources.
i have taken both her History I and History II class. She's my favorite professor i've ever had. She's kind, gives interesting and compelling lectures which she prioritizes, and even has additional lectures she posts on YouTube for things she doesn't go over in class, which is basically a summary of the textbook.
I love her
I love her lectures and the way she teaches. She makes it easier to pay attention and focus. One thing though, her exams consist of a few sections so make sure you know everything to the extent. Other than that I love her and she makes amazing brownies.
Wonderful teacher! Grade is decided by 4 exams, easy to ace if you follow her chapter reviews. She is engaging and very sharp. There's a textbook but I never used it. Would recommend her to anyone!
She has good lectures and is great at making history seem interesting. As long as you put the effort in by paying attention to her lectures and reviewing using her packets, you should be fine. Your grade is determined by the average of 4 exams, but you cannot get an A unless you write a book review and have an average of 90 or above on the exams.
Very straight forward class (grade is an average of 4 tests) + a book report. Her lectures cover 95%-100% of test material with a question and answer only found on the textbook here and there (rarely). Every class period is always a full class-length lecture; she's very good at explaining and engaging, the lecture can often turn interactive. 9/10
