Nice guy. Open minded. Do not miss class he gives weekly quizes, but he does not tell you what day it will be on. Most of the time class is boring and his test are suprisingly difficult, but he does cover most of the test material in class so there are few suprises. He does offer extra credit.
GER is a really good teacher. His 101 class took a little getting used to, but afterwards i refused to ake anyone else for 210. Ger's a really great guy, easy to get along with, and fun. oh a good teacher too!
Very hard to study class although the grading curve allows for plenty of error. The tests feature lots of poorly written ambiguous questions that you can interpret in many ways, or ones that ask you about one particular sentence in a 50-page chapter. Won't admit his errors or accept other answers even if they're just as right. Not recommended.
One of the very best professors at SCC. He gives everyone an opportunity to do well.
Gives an opportunity to do very well. Lots of extra credit, surprise pop quizzes. Tests are easy if you study lectures. Didnt use book at all.
I'm taking this class online and so far he has given us a lot of work. I took this class before with someone else at SCC and got a 3.0 and as of right now in Ger's class I have a 2.0, so much for raising my gpa. Each week he has 2 quizzes, 2 assignments (usually long) and 1 participation assignment. And then 4 long tests during the quarter (~80?'s)
I took Ger for both Psy classes. He makes the class fun and gets everyone involved. There are no hidden agendas on his tests they are pretty straight forward. While not a give me class if a person takes good notes in class then expect to pass.
A waste.
Don't be fooled by the good reviews, this guy makes mistakes and doesn't admit to them. Tests are extremely hard and questions are contradicting. Curve is nice, but expect to work your butt off. Don't try and argue with him either, he's always right.
He is a really good teacher. He gives you the info in his lecture and his study guides to do AMAZING in this class. I took it with Maianu and did horrible. GER IS THE BEST.
Had good notes and the class was informative--but I recommend strongly against taking it online. The professor makes a lot of mistakes on the calendar, or uses it inconsistently (midnight on friday could mean friday night, or friday morning). You REALLY need to read everything, moreso than with other classes, to do all work.
I took two Psychology classes with him, and I thought he was a great teacher. Fun class, fairly easy as long as you study. His test questions are objective though, which was the only bad part of his class.
His lectures are somewhat interesting but he wastes so much time asking the class what a concept is that you hear a dozen wrong answers before he spends two minutes explaining what the right answer actually is.His test questions are also very vague and can be answered different ways, its hard to tell what he wants.
I'm very disappointed. I took the class online, the other negative comments about him are 100% true. He is always right even when due dates for things don't match up to his syllabus or calendar. The notes don't help with the study guide questions either. His material and questions are extremely vague.
I did really enjoy the class. You have to work pretty hard, definitely stay on top of the lecture notes because he does weekly pop quizzes (probably two of them were on Tuesdays too, only one day of lecture). I think I enjoyed this class more because of the people really; we had a great time. Nice curve on tests, extra credit papers available.
Took him in the summer & was worried about his class @ 1st b/c I don't do well in lectures, but I was actually able to follow him 100% & he spoke slow & wrote on the board enough that I could understand him & I'm really usu. bad @ notetaking. Just read stuff in the margins (definitions & figure descriptions) + in-class notes & you'll get a 4.0.
I hate the way he teaches Discussions with the class - so many wrong ideas. Not clear what is true... Pup up quizzes is something that keeps you in fear whole quarter.
This class frustrated me to no end. I took it online, and all of his exam questions deal with numbers and percentages from an earlier edition of the book and don't match the current required text. On the brightside, all of his online quizzes can be found word for word online.
Much better teacher than I expected he would be. Quizzes help with your studying as you don't have to cram it all in last minute as you should be studying the material weekly. Also, as a majority of info is within his class lectures, you don't even need to purchase the book. Very easy class.
Horrible. He graded one assignment based off of how other students did theirs. None of the many quizzes had anything to do the 100 question exams.Had an emergency on a day a quiz was due and only allowed me half credit. Information is sketchy as he uses info that he makes up and from past books, so you never know what answer is right for exams.
Keep up on your studying, and you will be fine. Those who fail will be the ones who choose not to study. Gives thorough notes, although is somewhat sneaky on tests. Gives more than enough room for improvement with extra credit.
Not always clear about what we were learning. His power point slides seemed very unorganized. Didn't seem too enthusiastic about psych. Nice person though and helpful if you needed anything. If you go to class and take notes you will do fine.
I took Ger for 100 & 200. I took 200 online and it was quite possibly the easiest 4.0 EVER!! You get a weekly quiz where he allows you to take it as many times as you need and takes the highest grade. The papers only 2 pages and easy to write. With my other difficult class it was nice to have an easy one for a change!
Super Easy, but helpful
I took this as an online class and it was the worst class I've ever taken. We had to take 2 weekly quiz's and every othr week, we had to take a 100 question exam that takes 2 hours to complete. Your required to have a 73% in this class to pass and it is a challenge due to the material on the quiz'z and exam's not following the material assigned.
He is a great teacher and fun! Go to class and you'll do great! I'd highly recommend Ger!
Tests are tricky. Grades on a curve.Gives you study guides that aren't really helpful. Its up to u to find the answers,if you happen to have it wrong you study the wrong info and miss it on the test. Presentations sucked didn't really learn from them.Spent to much time asking class their opinions. but if you SHOW UP and WRITE the papers u will pass
Ger is great. He really makes it easy to succeed in his class. Many complaints about his tests being tricky but if you follow the study guides and actually read the textbook you will do great. He also grades on a curve. Attendance is huge, if you show up you will do fine. His lectures are interesting and I learned a lot. Easy 4.0.
Ger is THE best Psych Teacher! I would highly recommend him! Go to class, do his assignments and read the book...you will do well! I took him for 100 and then 200 online, I got 4.0 in both!
I would enjoy this class more if Mr. Moua would spend less time asking for input (to be told your wrong even if it CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE BOOK!!)and more emphasis On sharing with me what to review. Maybe SylviaBrown can predict for me what material to review. If I come prepared I am more likely to gain value out of my learning experience
Look , take this class if you are crazy. He is not clear. He is hard his exams are always multiple choices but they are tricky all the time but he is funny and not and easy A . He has random quizzes every week and weekly assignments online for the entire quarter.
His weekly quizzes are hard, but if you take notes EVERYDAY and review them during the 5 min before class you'll do perfectly fine. He has a study guide that has exactly what is on the test, so those who complained below obviously didn't complete the study guide. Ger is an excellent professor, lectures weren't boring. TAKE NOTES and SHOW UP.
Tests and materials covered in the class are inconsistent. Expect to write at least 5 papers... grading inconsistent on those as well. Tests poorly written... lecture slides unorganized. I personally find him to be biased toward certain people and not of good character. Good point... he grades on a curve. Good luck if you have him!
I took this class online. It was hard because there were no lectures, just reading the book. Tests were multiple choice. Quizzes were all fill in the blank and hard to answer if you didn't read the book several times. Luckily we were able to take the quizzes over as many times as we wanted to. This was not the case when I took 100 and got a B.
Ger is an easy 'A.' There will be one presentation required in his class. He gives plenty of extra credit! His class consists of tons of lecture, a few papers, quizzes, one group presentation, and a few exams that are all multiple choice. I recommend him!
If you have the option to take another psychology professor, do it. His tests are unnecessarily tricky and tough. If he didn't grade on a curve, most people would fail his classes. Even with grading on a curve, a lot of people had a tough time getting decent grades. You have been warned.
Easiest 4.0 I have ever had. Quizes are 25 questions, and you take them as many times as you want. Tests are easy to google answers to. Easy extra credit. I studied maybe an hour a week and got a 96%. Only time out into it was a paper due every two weeks.
He was hard to understand. He talked to fast and quite. Felt like an experiment. He gave alot of pop quizzes.
Some lessons are interesting, but he always gives extra work and you will not have any calm moment in his class. Tests are 100 questions and no extra minute... And he expext you to write as you are an English language professional, no less! Even English teachers paid less attention to my essey. Overall, go to other teacher if you can.
Either you like him or you don't. I was nervous to take this class b/c my forte is in the math and sciences, but I came out with a 4.0 easy. His grading scale is a 92% 4.0. There is 1 pop quiz each week, Mondays included, and an assignment each week that only takes about 10 min. Tests are tough, but he grades on a curve. I'll be taking him again.
90+ question tests and some of the questions aren't even what we talked about in class. I've been told that over 50% of the students who take his class don't pass. I will never take him again!!
I have taken him for both 100 and 200. I liked him for 100 but 200 he has made the whole class frustrated with extended learning for first 2 test and saving last 2 tests for last 2 weeks. Feeling like he wants students to fail. Psych 100 is a win though. Heavy pop quiz and writing intensive for 200.
He did a lot of field work and gave great stories on what psychologists really do. He really makes learning easy with his examples and he also gets the class involved by either asking questions, class surveys, or even just interactive games. The weekly assignments are an easy "A" and the pop quizzes are only on material covered in class that week.
He is a great teacher. He grades all of his tests, including the final, on a curve. He does have pop quizzes but he does tell you what week they will be at least. I really enjoyed his class.
Ger Moua teaches in a very personable manner. He's engaged with the class and actively seeks your participation. This is an overview class so there are quite a few names and dates you need to memorize along with various theories and perspectives so missing class is a no. The textbook used was fairly readable. Weekly quizzes/short assignments
Ger is an good teacher. I took his Psychology 100 class online and it was great. Grading expectations are clear and basically if you pay close attention to the chapter material, participate in all of the discussions and take all of the quizzes then the class is not difficult to pass. There were a lot of interesting discussions and that was helpful.
Ger has a love for Psychology that shows in his teaching. Group projects, participation, attendance are all part of the package. Suit up and show up. Ger offers extra credit and has a few tricks up his sleeve. I learned a ton in this class and would take another from Ger anyday.
Ger was an awesome instructor! My favorite yet! He keeps the class involved, so students are always looking forward to his class period. He makes sure everyone understands the concept before moving on. Yes he does have pop quizzes...a lot... but if you come to class and pay attention, you're going to pass, no doubt.
Don't believe the positive reviews here. This guy makes mistakes and does not own up to them. If you have a different point of view that leads to the same answer then he considers you wrong. Plays favorites towards the females. Buyer Beware. Take a different professional. Only take this class if you have absolutely nothing good to give back.
The positive reviews here aren't accurate or reflect what really goes on in this guys class. This guy should never be teaching in a college or any professional establishment. His class is nothing more than a place for people to spout bad ideas and defend discrimination against other people because of their race or gender. Terrible class.
Does not grade consistently. Does not put disclaimers on his assignments and the true purposes for even working at a college. Should not be around students. Comes off as a clear and present danger to others. Grades are inconsistent and do not apply the same to all students. Material doesn't follow the syllabus.
Only take this guys class if you have no respect for yourself and actually like listening to ignorant views and opinions that are with no research or real skill behind.
The tests in this class were all computer graded, as were the quizzes. If you didn't have the answer exactly right (spelling, plural/singular, tense...) it would make your answer wrong. You had unlimited tries on quizzes so you could fix answers for them but not on tests. Be ready to have questions from the wrong chapters too. Google everything.
There's pop quizzes and essays(5 total) due every other week. There is one group project where you have an assigned topic to research and present. The exams are multiple choice. Use the study guide he gives you to prepare and will get an easy A no doubt. Class is usually taking notes and then open discussion. Miss 2x and get 60 pts, go to class!
Does not follow the study guide. Questions on the test did not even come up on the study guide. Class discussions weren't professional or a peer review needed to find the truth. Was never specific about anything on the lectures. Made inappropriate jokes that should get him fired. Google everything. The positive reviews here are bogus.
Take a different instructor. This guy does not answer his email or phone when people have serious questions to ask him. He gives one sentence responses that are not on topic. He does not respect or care for the students. Must avoid. Clearly somebody who was rejected by real science professionals for insulting people because of their race.
Never in my life have I taken a professor that comes off like he is insulting people for fun. The class discussions on canvas were not peer review. People said what ever they wanted and there were no facts at all. Several students were insult others and this instructor failed to do anything about it. This instructor should not be working at SCC.
This instructor is not about the facts. And he is not about providing an educational environment. It seems like this class is for people who got kicked off of wikipedia for making inappropriate comments to others that qualify as harassment. Clearly this guy is oblivious to how people are affected. Clearly students do not matter. Very impatient.
Wow! I'm pretty sure the same person wrote the last five reviews. Sounds pretty angry, right?! I Psych 100 online, and I thought it was good! He's pretty straight forward with his assignments, and does quiz you on a lot. If you(or a certain commentator) thought his discussions were inappropriate, you're prob THAT guy who crossed the line first.
I took this class online. With two weeks left of the quarter, he has only graded two assignments. Everything else has been automatically graded by online testing, and three papers remain ungraded. Very little feedback. The only thing you do all quarter is read an entire textbook front to back, 500+ pages!
Although his assignments were just fine, his availability to his students is terrible. He does not respond to emails, important ones for that matter. He is not a fast grader. When it came to our essays, it took him a month each to grade our first 2 papers and didn't even grade the other 3 until after our final.
He was very lecture heavy, but he covered everything that you needed to know for a test. If you failed a test it was your own fault for not studying. Attendance was important, but if you had perfect attendance at the end of the quarter he gave bonus points. If you don't like being called on in class, don't take him.
Took Psy100 & 200 online, Mr Moua is hardly involved at all except for grading papers which you will get minimal feedback on. However, everything including tests are open book and there is no reason why you should not get an A in this course! If you are busy like me, the course is easy to keep up on and the reading material is interesting.
Participation matters and be sure to take detailed notes on the lectures. The exams were hard, but he grades on a curve. Also he lectures straight from the book, and his grading criteria is straight forward. Overall was a fun class and I would recommend it, just don't miss class.
I took Ger for psychology 101. He lectures daily and G-d help you if you're phone goes off in class!! He isn't a very good teacher and has no social skills nor tact. His tests are decent and are straight from the book. DON'T MISS CLASS!! He will flunk you if you miss more than that. Also, find a different teacher for psy 101.
After reading some of the other reviews, I was nervous about taking Ger's Psych 100 class. Honestly though, if you attend lectures and do the weekly online assignments you should easily pass this class. Attendance is graded, and there's a weekly pop-quiz, straight from lecture notes. His tests can be a bit tricky, but he grades on a curve.
The people giving Ger bad reviews were obviously in their own little world. He is very respectful during lectures, and expects student involvement. He is extremely professional and uses language from the book. Attendance IS important if you want to pass. Duh! And, yeah, its rude to leave your phone on during class! Grow up!
Ger was a phenomenal instructor. He cares about his students and puts a lot into his lectures. He does expect you to participate and put in the work, but what instructor doesnt. He gives you every opportunity to succeed and opportunities for extra credit. I cant wait to take another course with Ger! Highly recommended.
Ger was just an ok professor. If you read the text, take notes, study an hour a day, and complete the study guide you will be fine. My problem was his lectures. He isnt the most professional teacher and can be inappropriate at times.
Ger had interesting lectures, even a few outside. He would allow you to miss a few classes before loosing attendance credit. There are pop quizes but they're only for 5 points. One a week. It's pretty easy to pass if you put in the base ammount of work. Just vaguely study whatever sounded most confusing in the last lecture and the pop quizes are ez
Get seemed like a good guy. This class, however, is extremely independent. Aside from quick lectures that come out of the book, there isn't really much explaining being done at all. It is very crucial for you to do extra work reading and researching on your own if you want to understand the material and do well on tests and quizzes.
Ger had a great attitude toward the class and helped us all understand what was being taught as well as what to expect in the coming weeks. The grading took a little while but with a little extra reading you should pass this class no problem.
Didn't feel like I learned from this class, it's about studying to pass exams and that's it. Lectures, projects, papers, exams, pop quizzes, there's a lot of material but not a lot of explanation. Ger was not particularly helpful or kind if you did need help either. Attendance is mandatory as is the reading if you want to pass.
Very great class! Ger comes to class prepared everyday and really loves his job so it makes the lectures really interesting. He has one pop quiz a week but if you come to class and pay attention you should be fine. His tests are a pretty heavy but it's all multiple choice. If you use study guides, study notes and read the book you should do great!
The class he teaches is a good class to take but it is note heavy and pop quizzes come up every week.
would not recommend. i feel like i learned nothing. will not be taking him again.
This was an online class. It was also writing intensive. He would get behind in the grading of our papers to the point that we were submitting NEW papers before getting our previous papers back, which means there was zero chance of applying any criticism to the new paper to actually improve. Easy quizzes, TOUGH tests.
If you like trick questions then this is the class for you. Knowing the material is irrelevant he will take the information that he hasn't even covered give a pop quiz and ask you a question that is worded poorly in hopes that you get it wrong. Avoid his class at all costs. SCC is a good college with 1 horrible professor who smiles at your failure.
If you like paying to take a class twice and spending your free time studying a vague and poorly organized class then this class is for you. He has adult temper tantrums if you accidentally leave your phone on. He gives pop quizzes over material that he hasn't even touched on. He smiles at your failure and enjoys destroying your hard earned GPA.
You can type anything for discussions it can be misspelled, not constitute a complete sentence, or fully answer the question and get full credit. His grading policy is black and white for tests and pop quizzes. Discussions are a freebie as his criteria changes because he has tenure. He is free to grade hard one aspect and then nail you on the next.
He has an apparent distaste for students, unhelpful and unapproachable, vague with going nowhere lectures. He has taught me nothing except i should have picked another teacher. I regret having been apart of whatever the class should been about i still don't know. He is rude in an uncalled for kinda way. Not clear, poor grading guidelines.
If you have a chance to drop his class do it as soon as you can. If you can't drop the class ask the other psychology professors to see if they will allow extra students in their class, this will save you from paying for a 100 series psychology class twice. He grades on a curve watch for the curve on discussions hit any key response full credit!
The best part of the class is when he has his pet monkey Hanz do facial expressions for the class to guess which emotions he trying to portray. Hanz isn't very good and although it wastes time how can this be useful on a test. It's not pick any Professor but him to get where you are going because this class will lead you nowhere, day after day!
Worst class ever horrible educator. He is most happy to see student failure. He needs to go away as it only gets worse. Run for the hills! Avoid taking his class as long he is there, also any interaction with this person.
Class discussions meander pointlessly, he teaches with insanely outdated materials, he picks on students and makes fun of you in front of the class if you can't guess what answer he wants. He also gives weekly pop quizzes on yesterday's material (so study nightly!!) and tests are written terribly so it's hard to guess the actual right answers.
Ger was a super fun professor and I really enjoyed his lectures. He made things very easy to understand by using a lot of stories to relate the topics to real life. He did have a pop quiz once a week but as long as you studied it was pretty easy to pass.
I only gave him a 3 because I was an online student and had minimal contact with him. When I went in to discuss APA formatting though, he was very thorough and helpful with my questions. My recommendation is to take your first paper in for him to review your APA formatting and make sure to get the right book! Ask for a picture of the cover.
This was my worst online class in last summer. The entire quorter professor ignored the students. The group could not get timely help or response to our questions. There were also no discussions on the results of closed tests. The professor was absent from the city and did not answer our questions for weeks.
he doesn't let you know if he makes a change to the assignment/quiz schedule. Also, he doesn't give 2.5's. A lot of programs require at least a 2.5 for pre-reqs, so you better make sure you get a 2.7 or you will get a 2.3 and have to take the class again.
Ger is a great Professor and is understanding, reopened several tests and quizzes for me. As long as you are doing your job as a student this should be an easy A.
Professor Moua was not always accessible even though he was stricty an online teacher. If you want help with your course work be preppared to wait severa days for an answer. Quizzes are structly fill in the bank so make sure you have no spelling mistakes because quizzes, tests, and papers are your ony grades. Buckle down this course is heavy.
Just because Ger has his phd doesnt mean he's a good teacher. His lectures consist of asking the class their opinion or thoughts on a certain subject, and if he doesn't like your answer he'll dismiss you and ask someone else. He enjoys laughing at other's lack of knowledge and making fun of other's thoughts if they conflict with his own. 0/10
Good lectures, will give as many examples as you need to understand what hes talking about. Likes to put things on tests/quizzes that arent covered in lectures and even not in the book. Be prepared to google a lot of it.
A big portion of your grade is attendance. He awards attendance points on an all-or-nothing basis. You'll have weekly pop quizzes. He does not upload lectures to Canvas in a timely manner, so if you miss class you will miss out on most of the content. He rarely replies to emails and is not accommodating. Tests are extremely LONG, but open note.
To the students scared to take this class, don't be! My #1 tip is to print off the 15 chapter study guide your first day. It's super easy to fill out in class and will help tremendously on the 100 question tests. As long as you show up, take notes (a must!), and review each day's notes for 5 or so minutes and study definitions, you'll be fine :)
I took Mr. Mouas online class and all I can say is STEER CLEAR FROM THIS PROFESSOR. We were supposed to have weekly lecture notes and zoom meetings, but he stopped posting lecture notes after week 3. We never had a zoom meeting. He graded unfairly & his average email response was 2-3 days later. We taught ourselves this class. DO NOT TAKE MR MOUA.
Extremely unresponsive, extremely slow to grade paper. Generally unhelpful.
By far one of the laziest profs I have ever had. Doesn't grade any of your papers until the end of the quarter when you've already turned them all in. Extremely frustrating, don't take his classes.
He is lazy and only did an overview of each chapter while grading slowly and expecting a lot in the first few weeks. He sucks at replying to emails and screwed over my grade even though I scored A's and A-'s all quater.
Terrible, never responded to me. There are 4 papers, and he took 3 weeks to grade & gave no feedback. Your grade is based on cryptic quizzes on a book not in print. I had to buy 2 editions to pass (but the author is AMAZING and has a 2019 edition - he uses 2009. IN 2021!!!) Avoid! Buy the book instead. Invitation to the Lifespan by Kathleen Berger.
The absolute worst teacher I've ever had. Not only did he never respond to emails- (you literally have to catch him before AND after class because he'll always be busy with something) he refuses to answer any valid questions about course material and will leave you to figure it out yourself. Completely uncaring and lazy. Take him if you hate yourse
I should have looked at ratemyprofessor before enrolling in his class! This is one of the worst instructors I have come across in terms of class communication and active instruction. He is also very unorganized. Its not uncommon for him to assign a 100 point exam and two quizzes in the span of 2 days. A lot of work for very little in return.
I have emailed him three times this quarter and he has not responded once. Two were regarding incorrect answers on quizzes so I could could study for the upcoming test as he does not provide the correct answers after the quizzes or exams are closed. I'm luckily getting an A, but it's literally from no help from him. PICK A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!!!!
The material isn't hard, it's the fact that he is so disengaged with his class which is so ironic to me for a psychology professor. Expect to be COMPLETELY on your own. Read the text, take the quiz. No lecture notes or videos. Even when he grades our papers the comments are vague (which takes him 3 weeks). Also, don't ever expect an email back.
my biggest issues is he doesn't explain things well, and often times he expects you to immediately know material, Im lucky enough that I had interest in psyc or I'd no-doubt be struggling. It's a very hard/heavy class especially for 1sts, his teaching style is hard to attach to, I feel like if he doesn't know the answers to q's he just makes it up
Plainly I think he has the ability to be a good teacher, but prefers to be unaccommodating and short with people. Do not take this class if you have the ability to work with a different professor. If you're mentally ill, easily ill, or anything of the sort, he will not accommodate you or be nice to you. I would say more if I could.
He is a great teacher. Kept me engaged and interested the whole time. Uses personal examples to explain things. Has a pop quiz every week, usually on Tuesday, they are pretty easy just pay attention in class. There is a textbook to read, but honestly you just have to pay attention to the lectures and will get a good grade
He's really smart and caring and if you respect him, he'll respect you. Homework and tests were all online, easy and fun to do. Attendance is very mandatory for points and is especially mandatory if you choose to not rely on the textbook. I was always ready to learn and take notes and had my mind blown a few times.
I have taken courses from Professor Moua in the past and always look forward to taking more classes from him. I like his teaching style. It works well for me. I also find his background interesting and inspiring. He is very clear about his expectations. I have never had any issues with him. He always responds within a reasonable amount of time.
Don't ever expect him to respond to an email, no matter how urgent. Expect to be waiting for at LEAST a full 24 hours. Also, pop quizzes are graded by students, he doesn't go through to check if an answer was really wrong, he just inputs the grades as is. Failed many pop quizzes because my answers didn't match up with his word for word.
Professor Moua assigned a different textbook than the bookstore had listed and did not let the class know until the first day, when the first quiz was on the fifth day of class. He was unnecessarily curt, unhelpful, and seemed to make the class more difficult than it needed to be.
Moua was a good professor. His lectures were interesting/interactive and easy to understand, you follow him with his PowerPoint. He responds to emails through the canvas. Pop quizzes once a week on the lecture topic that week or the week before. Tests are super long, read and understand the concepts, and you will do great.
The tests are really long about 100 or more questions and one attempt. Lastly, there are weekly discussions that take around 10 minutes or more. Pop quizzes are taken in class randomly around 5 to 7 questions and are graded by students then after he grades them to check. And weekly quizzes have unlimited tries.
I really enjoyed his course and the structure for his class was good for me. The only thing I say is he does pop quizzes weekly so be prepared. The tests are also long but as long as you do the study guide, read the book, and pay attention to lectures you will do fine. Quizzes are also set to were you can take as many times as needed.
Ger is lecture heavy, but everything is fairly easy to understand. He is funny, and likes an out-of-the-box thinker. Get ready to participate in class because he might ask you to answer a question (I never had luck answering them right). He gives out a paper pop quiz on tues/weds, his assignments are easy. Tests are long, but doable
No communication with his students and he grades harshly on things such as wording. Quizzes are student graded and he puts in whatever grade they give you. Students are already failing on the first week. He blames F's on students being lazy when he is giving us no effort.
He is a pretty hands-off professor. All you do is read out of the textbook and then take chapter quizzes and after 4 chapters you have a big quiz.
Ger is a terrific teacher. I think a lot of these comments are from his online classes, which I could see him not being super good at. But his in person class is really good, and he seems super ready to help you learn. He is very smart and likes to act that way sometimes, but I have learned so much from this class. Tests are very easy. Just Study.
Ger Moua was amazing! This course was pretty much self-led; the material was very easy to understand and very simple to do. He didn't give many instructions, but they were straight to the point and quick. If you don't do well in Individual courses, then you probably won't like his teaching style, but overall, it's an easy A.
He is easy work, easy money
Ger is very engaging with students and offers a lot of class participation. There is very little work involved, but he makes up for it in super long tests. He's easy to follow and never speeds through lectures. He takes his time, answers all questions, and gives a clear explanation about whatever it is we are learning.
Took Ger for both Psych 100 and 200. In class he is very lecture heavy and will do pop quizzes, Online for 200, just reading the textbook and having weekly quizzes and exams. His quizzes are short answer, The quizzes are picky with how you type the answer. Responsive with emails. Quizzes are unlimited attempts. Everything is open book.
Online class. Managed to 4.0 it, but that was due to my diligence, not his. Chapters were all over the place. Fill in the blank quizzes provided zero feedback. Multiple choice exams were slightly better. You will have to read the entire textbook to pass. That is the only material you will get to complete the study guides. Good luck! Use Quizlet!
good professor but lots of lectures
The grading system is just weekly quizzes with a few bigger tests thrown in. The quizzes are based off of the reading and pretty simple. Had no contact or interaction with professor Moua. He had no lectures or discussions. If you need an easy A, take this class:)
I enjoyed reading the book, but you do have to pay attention to the words to pass the quizzes before each test. I would recommend not taking this course during the Summer quarter and taking it any other time. Highlight important definitions while reading the book and create a list for each chapter for retrieval. Lots of studying to do in short time
Ger's class is challenging but engaging. Long tests, mandatory attendance, and student-graded quizzes. However, he's very helpful and receptive to questions. Using unstuckstudy and the textbook are key to doing well.
Ger was a really nice and funny guy. He does not grade you based off of favoritism so the grade you get is what you earned. He is helpful with answering questions any questions you may have. I learned so much from this class. It was generally pretty easy to.
just gives you a textbook and tells you to read; no actual work is done on his part. Also, his quizzes are poorly designed
Took Ger for 100 and for 200. 100 there's a lot of discussion boards and a few papers to keep up with, read the book, participate in the discussions and do weekly quizzes' and 4 tests throughout. 200 read the book and there are 2 weekly quizzes' and 4 big 100 question tests. With both there are study guides to help navigate everything as well.
Horrible professor. He does not care about his students whatsoever, and is very discriminatory. Attendance is incredibly mandatory, lectures are very heavy in material, pop quizzes weekly, and a LOT of textbook reading. His tests are also very long with short time limits, and are VERY subjective. stay away from him.
Worst professor I've had. Mr. Moua feels like he wants to be in a debate class, not teaching a psychology course. A major part of your grade is by attendance, you cannot miss more than three class or your attendance points are halved, no exceptions. Lectures teach nothing, he just argues with students. Good luck getting through more than 5 slides.
Took him Winter 2024–25 (hybrid). I was in my last ESL course, and his in-person lectures were clear and easy to follow. Assignments, quizzes, and exams on Canvas (open notes allowed). Weekly pop quizzes in class with extra credit. Great experience—just be ready to study!
As far as I can tell, he is knowledgeable however, he is terrible at communicating that knowledge. His test/quiz questions are HIGHLY subjective. His lecture material is often lost on his students, in which case he will default to arguing with them. In addition to that, he never completes in-class PowerPoints even when given a whole week to do so.
Ger wants the class to participate, which is great but some students are slower than others. He will spend way too long trying to help a singular student, to the detriment of the rest of the class. That means you are stuck day after day listening to Ger trying to help some poor sod who won't get it. Class work is easy, read the chapter, take test.
Moua is so inattentive towards this class that I often wondered if he was actually still alive to conduct it. Your only class material is an ancient textbook, with infuriatingly designed fill-in-the-blank quizzes and marginally better multiple choice tests. He rarely responds to emails, and even he doesn't even seem to understand his own quizzes.
I made it through most of his class with an A but it was so hard. Lots of unnecessary textbook reading and poorly worded exam questions, no study guide in sight. To keep my other grades up in my other classes I dropped his and took psych 100 with Jason Eggerman and earned an A 95.6% easily.
His tests were so badly worded, and often subjective, that many of them were impossible to figure out. He never finished a single in-class lecture, which made note taking very difficult. In-class quizzes were peer-graded; like we're in middle school. His attitude was very abrasive, as well.
He is absolutely amazing, really funny and can be quite interactive during lectures. I don't understand why he gets scored so low! He's just a funny guy :). He may use slides but there mostly so you can take notes he still reads to the class and goes into details without really looking at the slides. You do have aprox 100 question exam there easy.
I liked Ger's lectures, and one is still expected to take the initiative and read the textbook themselves. He isn't one to hold students hands, so to speak.
One of the best teachers I have had at SCC and very passionate about his field which I LOVED!!! Attendance is mandatory so don't plan any vacations when taking this class you can miss a certain amount before your attendance grade is dropped. Read the book and you will be completely fine!
