Nice guy, understands that his class is not the only class everyone is taking. Willing to work with students on due dates.
Nice guy, but doesnt teach a class well. Most classes consist of him clicking away at his mouse...not really saying much. Some days arn't so bad. Nice guy tho, is helpful if asked.
Whether or not you are in the class, it doesn't matter. You have the same fair chance on tests the rest of us do!

Quit saying assume non-negativity during every single class cuz it's annoying as hell. Don't you dare assume non-negativity on your course eval when the time comes. Do a better job at teaching and where are those practice problems you advertised?
I feel Dr. Aase is a good professor, you just have to make the effort to go in and ask questions if you don't understand something.
Show up for class and don't be late!!! OMIS attendance policy, make sure you start your cases early and go and see him about 18 times per case till you understand it. He's a good guy and goes out of his way to help out:)
he's a hard grader on the projects so make sure you get yourself in a group of smart people. Also although he's helpful, he's kinda scary too but towards the end he became a softie. Gave extra credit in the end. Also GO TO CLASS and do the VBAs.

I didn't think he was too bad. I got an A. He's a hard teacher, but willing to work with you. Make sure you do good on the cases, cause the tests are hard.
This class is not a walk in the park, but this is college. Dr Aase will help you out as long as you take advantage of his office hours. I highly recommend this guy, you'll learn from him!
Made my life miserable
Boring
his lectures are the least boring, good overall teacher
Oh man, he is so boring. I fall asleep in his part almost every week. I don't know what to tell you, you don't really have a choice as to having him or not when you have to take UBUS310.
Nicely built
Well what can say, looking at him is not enough for this class....i had to read my cosmo......or at least when i went to class
Not a bad prof., 310 was the most boring class i ever had to take in my life.
Makes the class interesting sometimes, but usually is pretty bland.
Great personality, very laid back, lots of experience in his chosen field, HORRIBLE TEACHER DOES NOT PREPARE U FOR EXAMS, DISTRACTS YOU WITH STORIES AND JOKES,his material is not as difficult as it may appear if you IGNORE him and go over it yourself and the go to the TA's.
the most boing of 4 teachers in ubus 310. you coul go in there after a good night sleep and a gallon of coffee yet he will put you to sleep.
Easily approached for good hints during office hours.
Worst teacher ever. He didn't know how to teach his material and made things way more complicated than they needed to be.
Tried to explain operations ...key word ...tried
Very boring teacher. He makes OMIS materials harder than they supposed to be. He doesn't know how to teach.
I thought out of the four UBUS profs, he was up there. But then again we are comparing him to Gowen. Good teacher, explained material pretty good. Easy to look at too, nicely built !!!
so goddamn boring. along with johnson, he makes some**** harder than it has to be. a huge geek, i think a party to him consists of vitamin water and watching the discovery channel
he is a nice guy but has a difficult time geting across to the students
Great prof! Best of the four UBUS teachers. Glad to be able to understand what he was talking about. Thanks god there was someone better than GOWEN on the teaching team.
i thought he was cool, top two deftly of that class

Wow, pretty much bad teacher, ended up skipping any time he was going to talk cause I learned as much just looking over the slides on my own with a case of Sam Adams Winter Ale.

Obviously a very smart guy. Can be helpful if you are on his good side. The class he teaches is a big help in the real world. I wish I would have paid more attention that I did.
Nice guy, boring teacher. He tries and presents useful stuff but cracks same jokes over and over...Helpful for the most part and willing to work with students...boring tho...yes yes ...boring...
He's hot! but monotone. The information is not that interesting so it's not really his fault. He does, however, help you out a lot when you just ask...
Communication problem??? He needs to learn how to lecture. He makes OMIS sound like a rocket science. Even after reading the material before class it's difficult to understand what he's talking about. It's better to learn from the textbook and slides than his lecture.
Oh man is this guy boring. He is so monotone and he wastes a lot of time during lecture. His material is not that easy either, and his online book sucks. My least favorite of the UBUS teachers.
what a snooze. and he always talks the full amount of time. his material is kinda hard, but not terrible.
He's sooo boring! His voice is really annoying. He talks about stuff that you don't even need to know. His tests are pretty hard. I hate how we had to buy the stupid e-book just to take the quizzes.
hes so boring and talks about stuff that interests him but no one else and has nothing to do w/ the course. material was hard in my opinion
This guy needs to learn how to put a pitch in his voice when he speaks - it is very monotone and makes you not want to listen to what he is saying. The test questions from his portion tend to be tough and he does a crappy review session.
He was one of the two teachers in this 4 teacher class that actually made me care to be there
Very monotone nad subject matter is boring
although extremely boring, his section is the second easiets next to management. He is some1 you would like to hang out with, but not learn from. He gives study guides that if you do thoroughly you will be fine on the test. Very knowlegeable and teaches fairly the material in an easy manner- yet boring (again) overall B+ Rating.
He knows what he is talking about
Boring.... Nice guy, but there were so many times I could fall asleep during class. He's very helpful and knows his stuff. His grading is fair and tests are ok.
good information but not presented in the best way
he is a knowledgeable, friendly, and responsible teacher, take him, he will be your good friend!
As most have said, he is super monotone and he can be very boring at time. However, he is a good teacher and all you need to do is study the block notes and you will ace his part. One other weird thing is he touches his ear all the time extremely. . . one of those things you pick up during a boring lecture. He also has a obssesion with wine.
Aase has a good sense of humor. I took his class back in spring and you didn't need to even use the online textbook except for when you were taking the quizzes. He gives you a review sheet for each of the exams and as long as you go over the review you should be fine.
Very nice and helpful, easy to talk to. Test questions can be tricky, read carefully.
Although I'm not an OM&IS major, I'll be honest, it's not bad. But this guy will make it a nightmare. He is monotone and will put you to sleep. If he doesn't put you to sleep, he will bore you to death.
The only teacher of the 4 UBUS teachers that actually lectures on the material he expects you to know. Answers all your questions, helps you any way he can.
My favorite teacher in the 310 class.
Definitely the hottest teacher for ubus.
Good teacher
Learn a lot from him, lectures on business are good.
Best of the teachers.
Good teacher, clear, know what to study, dont need to read the book. Reasonaly tests.
This is the best teacher of the 4 in Ubus 310!
Aase is a great teacher, but his lectures are rather boring and I sometimes find myself almost falling asleep. I like the fact that all of his quizzes are online and he gives a thorough review of what will be on each exam in ample time to study. With Aase you have to make sure you study what is given and make it to class. If you miss one day of Ope
BY FAR THE MOST BORING TEACHER IN 310. Boring, monotone, boring, not humorous at all, oh did I say boring? His lectures are torture. Barely used the book, but you have to buy it for the quizzes.
One of the easier sections of the class. Good lectures.
Great teacher, one of the best in the COB.
Okay teacher. Was pretty boring lecturer and the omis material is pretty boring. If your good at math, the material is not that hard.
Rude, un-prepaired for class. Avoid at all costs.
Avoid this class & prof. at all costs. Avg of 3 assignments a wk, 4 exams & group project, which are all graded HARD. I took this as a business elective when my major is not even in business. Out of my 4 years at NIU- this was my least favorite class. Unorganized, never at office hours, never replies to emails- and if he does- unclear responses.
Very strict grader. AVOID him! unprepaired for class.
Aase was my professor for OMIS498 - the Capstone course for OM&IS Majors. He is a well-prepared, concise, and fair teacher. The only reason he gets a bad review is because non-business chumps can't handle the workload of an actual business course. EVERY email, phone call, or request for meeting was honored. He will help you but you have to ask.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this professor at all costs. Disorganized, lack of clarity on course expectations. Your grade depends on mostly attendance, and how much he likes you, not actual work. Didn't really learn much of anything from this professor at all. Would not take another class under his instruction if I could avoid it.
Do not take this class for granted. Semester long project (75% of grade) starts first day. Each semester is a different project, but get a good group, participate in class, and GO IN TO SEE HIM.. He thinks you do nothing unless you go to his office. Very fast paced with stuff due every week so manage time and good luck.
One of the smartest teachers in the OMIS department. Taught some of the most valuable lessons and concepts I've received in my undergrad. Hard to follow from time to time but if you meet with him out of class he will help you soooo much and teach you soooo much. Awesome experience but I'm not gonna lie the class was hard as hell.
Great teacher, hard material. Get all the easy points you can b/c exams suck Attendance goes in participation grade
Interesting course. A lot of independent work. As long as you do the online homework/quizzes, participate in class, and read/do Gemba Walks assignments you will do fine. He offers many extra credit opportunities to boost your grade up.
Professor Aase is one of the best professors at NIU, he actually cares about his students' wellness. Lots of extra credits that will help you to boost your grade! Just make sure to attend all classes and participate in class discussions, and do online homework
His lectures are based on the PowerPoint slides that is readily available on BlackBoard. He expects you to read ahead so that the topic can be discussed in greater details. I think that his teaching style is great. He encourages you to participate in class for discussion points which is great for learning the material. ^_^
he is one of the best professors I had in NIU. I would love to take more classes with him if I could. Do not expect the material to be explained in class, dig deep on the Pearson and self-learning is the key. I was at eh beginning annoyed but I realized he wants us to think out of the box and be lean. you have to read Gemba Walks 'cause it is wow.
Prof. Aase was just amazing. Very compassionate and knowledgeable off his area. Reading and doing your assignment is a must. I believe students are suppose to be tested on course material, so please do yourselves a favor, take his class, do homeworks and online quizzes on time. He is also ready to help outside class. Great
Mr. Aase is a great professor who actually cares about his students. His class is straight forward because he provides a lot of guidelines and recommendations that are important to follow to do well in the class. Mr. Aase wants his students to get more out of the class than just lectures. He offers a lot of extra credit to help your grade.
Aase is helpful prof that take care his student. if you have question, stop his office talk with him. and when you have a team project, hope you find good team members.
He will work you harder than literally anyone else ever has but in the end it will be worth it. I have never been challenged like I was in this course but I grew more than I have in any other because of it. Going in to office hours is essential to passing this course. Gerry Aase demands your best work to pass. Expect 25+ hours of hw a week minimum.
Gerry knows his stuff. Plan on spending a lot of time with the Pearson MyLab. The homework is intense. Tests are hard, and attendance counts. Make sure to participate in class discussions. He cares that students comprehend lean thinking and practices. Overall, not a bad teacher, just a lot of work for a class that was not part of my major.
There certainly is not enough professors like him. He truly cares about his students and goes out of his way to help you. His class is very challenging, but as long as you put the time in and ask questions/participate you will be just fine. Make sure you get a good group when it comes time for the final project and do not fall behind.
I took him this Spring Semester and I enjoyed his class. He knows what he is talking about and he is willing to help students with homework, information, and more. You will need to read the books for the exam and homework. His exams are straightforward. My tip for his class is to come to his class and engage a lot, then you will easily pass.
Awful class and an even more awful teacher. Everything you learn, you learn yourself. Super monotone voice and a RIDICULOUS amount of work for such a pointless and useless class. For a class required to be taken by everyone, its crazy how much of your time out of your week this will take up. Basically an online class with required attendance.
