Good Teacher. Unlike most math teachers and their pompous attitudes...he will take time to relate to us the students. Tests are too the point and doing the HW is useful.
Great Teacher.. highlly recommended.
easy professor. He is very clear with his lectures.
Great Professor! He makes Calculus understandable. Tests are straight forward and he grades fairly. I recommend him also for Math 114.
I hate math, and he made it easy, fun, and understandable! He's great and caring and will work hard to help you pass. If you have trouble in math... this is the teacher for u!
He made calculus VERY easy. he is really helpful and doesnt collect homework. get to drop one test grade. class is very entertaining and is highly recommended. take his class if u can bcuz ur gonna miss out.
mr geier is a really nice guy. he really tries to help you out, tests and quizes are easy and he drops lowest grades. attendance isnt even that mandatory to pass his classes. he listens and is not intimidating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Mr Geier is the best math teacher I have ever had in high school or college. He is very good at making things understandable and he truly does care about helping you succeed. Highly reccomended.
Geier is the man. I dunno how he does it but he has the charisma many other teachers don't. I always look foward to every class meeting, because he is very understandable and easy going. Tests are not hard at all if you go to class.
Proff Geier is the best math teacher i have ever had!! he kind of reminds me of jack from that show will and grace, but overall he makes math seem sooo easy. he explains everything very clearly and really tries to help you understand it.
Mr. Geier reallys knows what he is doing. He makes sure that he is clear about everything, and wants the student to do well on the hw and test.
Very nice and helpful. HE let me make up my tests but i still needed a written excuse. He acctually made class on friday bareable.
aww i think he's adorable. how he stands when he writes on the board. and YES he looks like jack from will and grace. hard a** subject though, but his study guide packet is very helpful. go to the LAC for extra help.
I took this class with another teacher first and dropped out. I didn't realize that there are math teachers who really do want you to do well. If I could I would take him again for any subject..
He's a great professor and makes math easy and understandable to everybody who takes him.
He is one of the nicest teacher I've ever had. He truly cares about his students and he wants them to do well in the class. He is very clear on what he is teaching and he knows what he is talking about. In taking another class next semester with him
Choose Prof. Geier math 010, 114, 115, very willing to help best choice.
Best math teacher that I have ever had. Willing to help you in any way possible.
What a great instructor. He uses techniques that aren't even mentioned in the math book that are way easier and make a lot more sense. If you buy his study packet ($1) and take notes in class you'll do fine. I especially recommend Geier if you're not great at math since 114 seems to hit new students
He is a great teacher who cares about how his students perform.
Very clear. Easy to understand. Not boring and straight to the point. His tests are consistent, no surprises. Recommended
Prof. Geier is most likely the coolest, easiest, understanding prof.U will ever have on this campus. For any math class u need that he teaches I strongly advise you to enroll in it. He actually cares if u learn.
He is the best professor at csulb. He actually cares about his students and wants them to succeed in this class. He lets you know exactly what will be on the exams. No surprises. I'm not a math person and I got an A in his class.
Nice teacher. Kinna reminded of Jack from Will& Grace. There are about 5 pop quizes and 3 tests. Overall, the class is ok if you put time and effort. Do your hw daily and you should be fine. He helps you with your hw if you have any questions.
If Mr. Geir taught more math classes, i'd minor or major in math. Quite simply the best math teacher anyone will ever have. Very approachable, personable, and an unbelievably nice guy. Teaches math like a language, and shows you that it really isn't as hard as people make it. Best teacher EVER!!!
I took him for Math 114 and now 115. He's the best math teacher on campus!! Be careful in 115 because he's really good at teaching it but the material is hard...don't slack off! but be sure to TAKE HIM!! you'll enjoy math because it clicks and makes sense!
Very nice professor. If you need help, he's there for office hours or before/after class. He is very detailed about what to do in class. Take notes, do the homework, and take HIM! Great professor.
He's really awesome! very helpful, easy to understand.
Mr. Geier is the BEST teacher I've ever had. I took him for Business Calculus and Finite Math. He made learning easy and fun. He is very approachable. He tells you exactly what to study and teaches techniques that are not explained in the book, but are much easier to comprehend. He should really win the teacher of the year award!
The absolute nicest guy you will ever meet. Homework assignment every class, but he doesn't collect them. Tests are easy; he doesn't try to trick you.Teaches techniques not in the book that are much easier to comprehend. 5 quizzes (lowest one dropped), 3 midterms, and a final (if you have a 97% after the midterms you don't have to take the final =)
i cant believe i dropped this class im not a math person but i had to drop him and my friends who had taken him were furious that i did. when i was in his class for the first two weeks, easy class, easy quiz, he cares about his students and really puts on a great effort. i recemmend anyone who doesnt like math take him for 114 or 115.
aww he is adorable. really nice guy. i took him last semester. best teacher ever! and he kindda reminds me of jack from will and grace.
Best math teacher I have ever had! Teaches methods that are not in the book but are much easier to understand. He makes concepts that used to be difficult for me, really easy. He is a great teacher and makes sure that his students understand everything. He goes over any questions you have and prepares you really well for the tests/quizzes
Believe me when I say he's amazing. Very clear and to the point, consistant, his teaching method is easy to grasp. If you're not a math person at all I highly recommend him. And yes he looks exactly like Jack from will and grace. Very sweet and approachable man.
By far the best math teacher I have EVER had...he is amazing, you must take math with him...I HATE MATH...and he made it easy to understand...simple and to the point no other bs...BEST MATH PROF ON CAMPUS
Awesome teacher. Material is not easy, but he does all he can to make it understandable. The best teacher I have had at this school in my 3 semesters here in the way of caring about whether we were learning the material. Tests straightforward and good review time for each exam. Plan to do all the work and keep up and you will do fine.
the best math teacher i have ever had by far. I HATE math and he made me love it. So helpful and clear in his teaching methods. Just go to class! Its math, guys, you cant learn it if youre not there to be taught!
He is a great teacher but he can still be hard in his methods and what he requires. Another teacher you might think of taking is Chaffey for a slightly different teaching style but in my opinion easier.
Great and excelllent teacher. Easy going and very helpful. I truly recommend theis teacher.
This professor was not interested in helping students for this class. It seemed that he was more interested in students in his other classes. I got the impression that he was forced to teach this class.
He explains things in the easiest way possible, and if you don't get it, he'll always help you. He also lets you drop your lowest test and 2 quizzes, so that brings your grade up.
The class consists of 5-6 quizes (25pts each), 4 exams (100pts each), final (200pts) is cumulative. Assigns homework but doesn't collect it. If exam score is under 65 then homework turned in higher grades 10pts. He will work to get you the highest grade. He drops the lowest exam&quiz score. I guess he looks like Sean Hayes from Will&Grace.
He's So helpful, and explain the problem in the simplest way! I love him and definitely will take his class in the future!
If you don't like math, this is the class for you. Geier is a great teacher that can actually make math a little interesting. He is very clear when he explains things and like to make sure EVERYONE understands. One of the best teachers ive had here at the university.
Easy teacher but not easy material to learn, my boyfriend recommended him as an easy teacher who can really teach math....HE WAS TOTALLY RIGHT!! Math is a hard subject, but if you have a good prof then it is easy. You should do your homework and study for the quiz and exam to pass with an A...if you get an A you don't need to take the FINAL!
AWESOME TEACHER!
LOVED this class... He is a great professor.
Awesome, get a 97% or better during the year and you don't have to take the final
GREAT PROFESSOR, EXPLAINS EVERYTHING REALLY WELL. DO THE HOMEWORK! IT REALLY HELPS YOU UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL. TESTS AREN'T TOO HARD. HE GIVES YOU PRACTICE EXAMS. GET A 96% ON THE 4 EXAMS AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THE FINAL.
He is an incredibly talented professor and great at what he teaches. If I were a teacher, I would want to teach the way he teaches. Clear, concise, fair. You need to do the homework and ask questions. The quizzes and exams are not difficult if you write good notes and review beforehand.
Great teacher! You can tell he wants everyone to pass. Make sure to get his practice packet and study it before the tests and quizes. He gets all stars and bonus points for being helpful and handsome.
I hated math before his class. I just never understood any of it. Now I actually enjoy math. This is a very easy class to pass if you keep up with your homework and study it as well as your notes. He wants everyone in the class to pass so he is willing to help you with any problem that you have. He is a great teacher. Take his class if you can.
AMAZING! I loved this professor. Highly Recommended!!
very nice and easy. drops lowest test grade and is very easy to understand. explains everything pretty well and gets to the point.
Awesome teacher. Amazing, he even gives a few extra points after he's graded quizzes if you make a fair/not annoying argument. Fun during office hours. Great teacher, really recommend him.
This professor is great. Everything is so clear and make sense after his explanations and examples. Highly enthusiastic about teaching and a great sense of humor. Loved this class.
Hard subject BUT makes the material super easy for students to understand!! I am absolutely horrible with numbers but go to class, do hw and you will be fine :D
He is by far the best mathematics teacher that I have ever had. If you have to take Calculus for Business, it is within your best interest to try and get him as your professor. He is always understandable and he makes mathematics interesting and fun. He is also very enthusiastic about his subject.
He has such a charming personality. Makes the difficult subject easy to understand. Drops lowest test score. Takes the time to help you understand the material better. Gives some extra credit opportunities. Doesn't collect hw, except for the four 25 pt assignments. Definitely recommend him! :D
Probably the best Business Calc teacher you can take. His lectures are clear and make learning some of those dense math concepts easy (just do your homework to reinforce it!) Light hearted professor with a good sense of humor
Best math teacher i've ever had! He explains things very clearly and doesn't try to trick you on exams. Exam problems are directly from the homework. Go to class and do the homework and you will get an A !
Charming! I hate math and was dreading calc but really like him and this class! He makes class enjoyable and teaches so you can understand. Not boring at all. Go to class, take notes, and do homework for your own benefit (not collected). Drops one test!
Best teacher I have had @ CSULB. So thorough, patient, & in a way dumbs the material down. He drops lowest test score, or if all of them are good, cuts the final in half. If you do poorly it's your fault. I hate math and I got an A. I'm taking him again for 119B! TAAAAAAAKEEEE HIMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
He's a really great professor. I usually HATE all math teachers but this math teacher tops all math teachers by far. He doesn't collect any HW but does several quizzes. He'll drop lowest quiz score.
geier is able to make a boring topic interesting. very clear with his intsructions and explanations. go to class, take good notes, only do the homework if you really really need the practice
Math isn't really my favorite subject, but Geier was such a fantastic math professor. He was able to explain things so clearly and even simplify them. He's also very friendly towards his students.
he is a great prof! you'll absolutely learn in his class. he is nice, and he explains everything well. he makes a hard subject easy and clear! he tells you whats gona be on the test, and you just need to study your notes and hw to get an A. i never opened my book, i wish i didnt buy it. oh wells. i recommend him!! he is one of the best teachers !
prof. geier class is really easy and very useful. he makes the notes very helpful. he'll definitely help you out on exams if you don't understand what to do on a specific problem. only thing about the class is we only get 50 minutes in class. wish we had more time to do exams.
His class was fairly easy. It was his first time teaching this course, so some of his presentation of lectures were kind of confusing. But he's really helpful and walks you through the steps!
Mr. Geier is an amazing professor. He makes things clear and easy to understand. He tells u what is going to be on the the tests too. Not a boring class at all. He is the best math teacher i've ever had! He even did a backflip in class!
Seriously hands down best math teacher ever! Great personality, very clear in lectures & always available when you need help!
the best math teacher hands down. explains the textbook in barney's language and responded to every email question I had on the subject. I highly recommend him.
Definitely Best Math professor @ CSULB! Very clear lectures and gives very helpful hints for exams! Not an easy A but you definitely learn a lot and have a great chance of passing
Class is very easy if you pay attention in class and do all of the homework. Provides study guides before each test, clear on what you need to know and willing to help if you really need it
one of the greatest prof ever! friendly, approachable and is willing to help out as much as possible. the class was hard for me but geier tried his best to clarify everything. aleks and mathzone is tidious so watch out for that. but take him if you need this class!! and did i mention he is handsome? well he is!
One of THE best math teachers I've had in my life. He is extremely helpful, funny and just really knows how to teach! Take him if you need this course. You won't regret it at all.
He is good at helping the student understand the material. He has a humor and is very chill. The homework is straightforward and he goes through the hard ones the next class. His lectures are clear.
Very helpful teacher. His tests are very similar to lecture. He goes over hard homework problems next class. If you need help, he will surely try his best to help you. You just have to ask. I recommend you take this teacher if you have to take Math 113. :]
LOVE! Prof. Geier! Hes so helpful. HIs test are really straight foward, tells us whats going to be on. theres 4 tests 4 quizes and one Final (accumulative). Its easy to understand him and explains everything well. TAKE HIM!
Best professor. He's very clear on his lectures and is willing to go over any questions you have. Homework is not mandatory. His test and quizzes are similar to his lectures so just pay attention and you'll be able to get a good grade. I would recommend you to take him!
Great Professor. He explains everything really well and is very helpful if needed. Best math teacher Ive ever had.
This professor will make math the easiest thing ever. He knows how to teach and teaches on a steady pace..Never too fast and never too slow, he's perfect. Wish i had him for all of my math courses
He is very clear in his instruction and makes the subject easy to understand. Even though it is optional, keeping up with homework is very important in maintaing good test and quiz grades. He also has a light hearted personality while he teaches. Overall, an excellent professor.
I LOVE Mr. Geier! He is by far the best math teacher I have ever had. He is EXTREMELY helpful and understanding and genuinely wants to see students succeed... not mention he's HOT!! Homework isn't mandatory but I strongly suggest keeping up with it. Definitely take his class if you can get in!!
Mr. Geier is such an amazing professor. He is so involved in his students' work. He will go above and beyond to help his students and make sure they succeed, you just need to make the effort. If you are good at math, you probably don't need to go to class all the time, but there were many times where he taught things differently than the book did.
Easy A if you know your Algebra. 4 tests and a Final, if you score an A on all 4, you are exempt from the final. I came to class and just slept. Doesn't even collect HW, it's good review if you need it, otherwise take a break. Highly suggest you take him. He is very clear on the subject and you will pass!
Pretty good teacher, explains everything thoroughly. If you are a point or so off on the final grade, he will round it off, I highly recommend taking this class.
Prof Geier is the best math prof at csulb! He makes math interesting and easy. He?s such a sweet and funny guy. He makes math interesting. He drops the lowest test score. Homework is optional but KEEP UP WITH IT if you want to do well in this class. I highly recommend this professor; you won?t regret it!
Prof Geier is the best math prof at csulb! He makes math interesting and easy. He?s such a sweet and funny guy. He makes math interesting & you can tell that he loves it! He drops the lowest test score. Homework is optional but KEEP UP WITH IT if you want to do well in this class. I highly recommend this professor; you won?t regret it!
The best math teacher I've ever had (and best teacher on campus). He makes math so much easier on someone who is not good at it! His tests are kind of hard, but if you do all the homework you'll be just fine. If I liked math at all I'd definitely take his class again because he was a joy to be taught by. Thank you professor Geier!
Ahh my words can't explain my love for gier..jk haha but he is great. He's an awesome teacher with extreme clarity, I wish I had him for every math class. Take him, no doubt
Only had him five weeks so far and I know hes going to be the best professer during my tenure here. Extremely funny and makes you feel comfortable about the class
Love this professor. Very clear, goes through all the steps, is always happy to help. Makes funny jokes. Take him!
Great teacher! He knows how to go through the lecture at a steady pace without leaving anyone behind. Definitely take him :]
AWESOME professor. SUPER organized and very structured class. I have no complaints whatsoever. Tests are very reasonable; HW assignments/projects (there's maybe 3?) are fun and help your overall grade. Funny, smart and SO nice. DEFINITELY recommend.
he is the cutest thing ever! he makes everything very clear and prepares us very well for our tests. GREAT TEACHER! i wish he taught all my math classes :(
He is a really good teacher. Class consists of 3 exams, 1 final all worth 100 points each and online homework. I loved this class. Geier is a really really good teacher:)
Not a difficult course. Extremely helpful professor and T.A. He is pretty funny, too. Take this class!
The friendliest prof I've ever had. He is funny and so approachable. His notes are clear and so are his lectures. I really have nothing bad to say.
he's such a friendly and helpful person. lectures were very clear and he explained everything thoroughly. if only he was teaching calc1, 2 or 3. i'd definitely take him again!
You will be a math genius once this course is over!
I'm not good at math at all but he makes it easy to understand. He cares about his students passing and the class is super easy! Take him you won't regret it!!
Preety good professor!!!! take him!!!!! very helpful and all he wants his students to do is pass his class!
Funny, understanding, experienced, great, cool, awesome, and nice professor! All you have to do is to sit there and take notes. He gives legitimately easy numbers and problems on the tests and thoroughly helps you review the each test in class. If you wanna have a good MATH 113, TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TO TAKE HIM!!!
Great teacher. I understood what he was teaching us. Very nice and friendly. Funny and tells jokes and stories. As much as I hate math, I enjoyed the teacher. Tests are all things he goes over in class. I recommend him.
Let me put it simply: I WILL NOT take Math 119B until he is my teacher.I had him for 113, and, I KNOW, it's just algebra, but it was my easiest class first semester. Wonderful professor. The best for math HANDS DOWN.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR EVER!!He is very nice, helpful and funny.i really enjoyed his lectures.we had online hw(it was kinda annoying at first but you will get the hang of it). Take him if you can, ohh! and he curves overall grade at the end :)
Professor Geier is so amazing. Really, he's the best math teacher out there. He's funny--and he doesn't even try to be, he's very reasonable, and he always checks to see if all the students are understanding the lecture. If you don't take him, shame on you! If you have to take precalculus algebra, choose Geier!!
Best math teacher, nay, best TEACHER I've ever had! Geier is everything you look for in a teacher. He is extremely helpful, very clear and organized, and wants you to do your best. You'll really be glad you took him!
He's the BEST teacher you could ask for! He's always prepared with his lessons; takes the time to answer your homework questions; tells you what to study for for tests. 4 midterms, and he lets you drop a test, and then the final. BUT, if you get an average of 97 or higher on the tests, you don't have to take the final.. like me. TAKE HIM. :)
Hands down one of the best math professors at long beach. He is extremely helpful and organized. Calculus is not an easy subject to teach so I praise him for making this subject so easy. 4 exams and 1 final and you can drop the lowest exam which really helps your grade in then end and online hw. Geier is so adorable and he makes the class very enjoyable for a subject everyone tends to loathe. I promise you take him and you will not regret it!!!
Probably one of the best professors at Long Beach State. This semester is suppose to be my last semester of having math but as lame as it sounds, he made me want to take another math course, even though I don't need to. Totally recommend him for any math course you're taking.
I agree with all the comments that he is a great professor and good at teaching math, HOWEVER he is an extremely hard grader on the exams. Questions would be worth 8 points each and he would only give you all the points or none at all. He would not even give half points if you were very close with just one or two errors.
Probably one of the best professors I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He's clear, concise, and reasonable, and has never hesitated to explain ANYTHING. His teaching style is relaxed but efficient, and he really seems to know how to connect with students on an academic level. Amazing.
Professor Geier is quite possibly the best math instructor i've had so far! He lectures very clearly and makes sure you understand. He's quite funny and makes class enjoyable. I actually loved going to math class for once! You use your textbook for homework and that's basically it. TAKE HIM!
He's funny. That's a good thing, especially for a math class. He grades fairly. His tests are not hard but they aren't easy either. You will need to study.
Best math teacher I've had. Explains very clearly and was able to understand things I couldnt before. Do NOT get the physical book but the online at Webassign as it has the HW. Although the homework on it does not count to your grade they help ALOT when you don't understand the homework fully and need some practice. Helps to use them for the final
Take him for trigonometry, he explains everything clearly. He makes the class enjoyable. No need for a book unless you want a physical copy. An online book is given with the webassign code.
Hands down, he is a great professor! He explains everything well, he has quite a humor! Reviews everything before a test! Lets you drop lowest quiz grade! There's 4 tests, 1 final, 5 quizzes, online homework! You don't need a textbook. Great Professor if you want to take Math111
Mr. Geier is amazing. He made calculus easy and enjoyable. I would highly recommend his course. He is very clear and explains concepts thoroughly. His tests are not difficult, just study his example problems. Definitely one of the greatest math professors I have ever had. Sad I don't have to take Math 119B.
So amazing and helpful! Very easy to receive a high grade if you pay attention! Took him for three semesters of math.. wouldn't choose anybody else!
This guy is the best teacher I've ever had hands down. Class is so easy and I didn't even have to take the final because I had over a 97. He's a great teacher and as long as you do what he says and pay attention... you will get 98% at least. He tells you what's on the final... so learn it...
Amazing calculus teacher, really clear and helpful, super nice and sweet, you can ask any question and he won't make you feel stupid at all. You can tell he really cares about everyone doing well and passing. Never tries to trick you.
HE IS THE BEST MATH TEACHER ! i would plan my whole schedule around his, just to get him.
Undoubtedly the best math teacher I've ever had. He's very understanding and teaches well, and suuuuper nice. He absolutely deserves that 4.9 rating on here. Definitely looking forward to having him again for 119B next semester.
he is such an amazing teacher. notes are perfect and simple to understand. just show up to class and you will pass
Super easy class, great teacher, but homework was worth way more than he made clear so even those I scored very well on the tests I got a C in the class, doesn't seem like a college class. If you don't want to do homework don't take this class
Geier makes all concepts easy to understand. Take notes during class because tests are basically everything on the notes. Only assigns online homework that's easy to get 100% on. 2 quizzes, 4 tests, and a final. He drops your lowest test score. Easy A. Mr. Geier's the best!!
VERY clear lectures, much easier to understand than the book. He is super helpful and kind with any questions asked. Assignments are short and fairly easy. He gives detailed information on what will be on tests. Recommend him to everyone who needs these classes!
Excellent professor! His teaching is very easy to understand he is always so helpful and understanding. No need to buy textbook for this class. Just do the hw online and attend class regularly and you should get an A easily
Mr. Geier is a truly outstanding professor. I had him for both Math 119A and B, and his class was always my favorite to attend. His lectures are clear cut and he is very articulate in conveying the information. His class isn't "easy." He is just an effective teacher and is kind enough to give an overview of what will be on the exam, but do study.
Out of the four math professors I have had at CSULB, he is the best by far. His exams are definitely not easy, but if you attend class, take good notes, and review the material, you should do fine. Don't skip out on MyMathLab! It made the difference between a B and C for me. He extends the actual due date to one week past the assigned one.
Professor Geier is a phenomenal instructor, and a really thoughtful person. However, this was the hardest class I have taken to date at LB. You have to have self discipline while in his class bc he does not give credit for doing book hw anymore which is the only way you will do well on his tests. So your grade depends on 3 exams and a final.
Geier is super helpful, clear, and just a great teacher overall. Definitely recommend.
His class was my first at CSULB. He is a really nice guy and is good at teaching his material. He gives a lot of hints about the content on the exams so you know exactly what to study for. If you don't pass his class it is your fault because his class is easy. I recommend him to anyone looking to pass and have a good time passing as well!
I took Geier for 119A and B and he was absolutely amazing. I took calc in high school but I didn't understand the class and I barely passed. When I took it again with Geier it was like my eyes have been opened and everything that confused me before was crystal clear now. You can ask him any question, even if you think it's dumb, and he'll answer it
One of the best math teachers. His lectures are fun and normally don't last the whole class.
Math is my worst subject so I had to work really hard in this class. He posts the lectures so you can print them and take notes, but he forgot to post the lectures on some occasions. Overall his class was doable and he rounds up his grades. If math isn't your strong subject then I suggest attending every class.
He's a great professor and not bad to look at. I was rarely in class and got a B. If you're also taking Math 111, I wouldn't take Math 113 also because you'll get mixed up. You have to study for tests. Overall, great class.
thank you mr geier, you helped me understand math so much better, you're probably the best math teacher i've ever had. he really is there for his students and wants you to understand the material. i would definitely take him again
Geier is a wonderful professor. Failed his class because I didn't take it seriously, but his lectures are always helpful. Took his class for the second time and EASY A here I come. You do have to buy WEBASSIGN and ALEKS but everything else is on BEACHBOARD! I would highly recommend him for MATH113!
Amazing Professor. He is there for you and very equipped to teach this course. Ask questions in class, show up and do the homework. The class shouldn't be too time consuming outside of class. 4 midterms, webassign, handouts, and one cumulative final. Take him if you can, favorite professor.
This class was amazing! Easiest math class I've taken ever! Prof Geier is very clear on every lesson and will answer questions even though its a huge class. He gives easy tips and shortcuts to problems that makes our lives much easier. The tests, which are not made by him, are easy because of his clarity. Got A's on all the tests! TAKE THIS ClASS!
Professor Geier gives great lectures that are easy to follow and are very clear. He structures the class so it is very easy as long as you learn the material, pay attention, and do your work. Overall great professor, he is also very funny and helpful.
He was a great teacher! Pay attention in class and do the webassign homework and you'll be totally fine. Everything is graded by an aide so if theres a mistake just ask him and he'll fix it.
He's great! Lectures are clear and organized. 3 exams and cumulative final. Exams are based off of the homework. Do the homework, study the word problems, and you will pass! The class is not meant to be tricky so just put in the effort. Available during office hours to help with clarification. Super nice, must take him!
He's one of the greatest professors ever. If you take good notes and actually do your homework they day they're assigned, an A is achievable.
He is the best teacher Ive ever had. HANDS DOWN. He teaches through examples, and makes sure that everyone who is willing to put in the effort learns the material. He is understanding, funny, and has amazing hand writing. Tests are very similar to study guide. In order to get an A, PRACTICE the problems he assigns.
I took this class in freshmen I've been trying to enroll in his math classes ever since. He teaches VERY well and if you pay attention, you WILL understand the material. Print out the notes he posts on beachboard and fill them out in class. Study those. Expect an A on your exam if you study them well.
I loved this class! He's a great teacher and the way he taught came easy to me. four tests throughout the semester. not too bad. you dont need to buy the book. you just need web assign.
Words cannot describe how amazing Prof. Geier was! Well... maybe just a few. Not only the best math professor at CSULB but probably the best professor I've ever had! His lectures and grading criteria are incredibly straightforward and clear so his class goes by pretty fast. He truly cares about his students. Can't write anymore, ran out of spac--
He gives good tips and tricks to use
AMAZING TEACHER, THE BEST, would not want any other for math 119A, 10/10 would recommend. If you don't practice, you will fail, loves how he cares and teaches the problems step by step like you were in high school.
Words can not even describe how understanding and caring Professor Geier is. His lectures are crystal clear. His tests are really easy. Also, he gives out tons of extra credit points. Whenever the test average is low, he gives out pop quizzes to students bring their grades up and help them pass the class. Honestly the best professor at CSULB.
Prof Geier is one of the best math instructors I've had! He truly cares about he success of his students. His lectures are very clear and although the material is sometimes difficult, he will not hesitate to explain things multiple times and answer any questions.
Mr. Geier was you best choice for Math 113. His lectures won't bore you to death and he explains everything very well. He cares so much for all of his students and wants to make sure everyone does well. His exam reviews are excellent and tests are easy. (Even though he doesn't make them). Mr. Geier is you best bet to get an A in this course.
tough exams
Extremely sweet guy. He knows his stuff and teaches students in a way they'll understand. He is super helpful and wants all his students to pass. His tests are difficult, but if you attend lecture you'll understand your stuff because he goes into detail with each problem. I definitely recommend taking his class!!
Mr. Geier is the sweetest teacher I've had at CSULB. He explains everything so well and his handwriting is impeccable. He cares so much about his students. His tests are easy, as long as you do all the practice problems he assigns. Homework is very manageable and he's always willing to help. He may even do a handstand for you, if you ask nicely! :)
Dr. G is they best teacher I have had yet. This is the first time I have really understood and felt confident going into the tests. The study guides he makes are helpful and really prepare you for the exams. There is weekly homework which can feel like a lot but it is worth it. He is funny and is legit. He makes things simple. Strongly recommend.
Professor Geier is amazing. His lecturing style is easy to follow. He truly care about the student success. He would goes over the problem in web assign if u struggle. He doesn't care about the time, he will only move on if everyone understands the materials. The tests are easy as long as u do the study guide, which he goes over in class too.
Math has never been my strongest subject and I would say I hate it for the most part. However, taking this class with Geier was some of the most fun I've had this semester, I would even call it my favorite class. He is very clear and helpful and this is the first time I don't feel like I'm struggling with the subject. Best math teacher I've had.
Professor Geier is the best math teacher ever!!! Highly recommend for students who struggle in math because his lectures is very informative and easy to follow. I understand the concept better because of him. Also the webassign is important so do it. The only problem is the class size (lecture hall) which make it difficult to talk to him.
Presents the material clearly and invites questions if you don't understand. Plenty of examples in lecture to take notes on and he throws no surprises in tests (he won't try to trick you). Lots of practice sheets for you to work on (SUPER USEFUL). I've always been scared of math but put in the work and you'll get an A just like me. Great teacher.
Mr. Geier is the best teacher/professor I have ever had in my entire life. He truly cares about his students and wants to help them. Make sure you pay attention in class because the test is mostly based on the notes. If you pay attention, do every homework assignment, and practice them before the test you will get an A.
He was great. He explains things really well and actually cares that you understand the material. But still you have to study for it if you want to do well. If you study, its shouldnt be too bad. If you can, enroll in his class!!!!
This class was the second time I took it and I actually enjoyed it. He explains the material very well and wants the class to succeed. When the class is involved and asks questions he feels the desire to want to help even more because he sees that the students care. He doesn't teach in a boring manner and it is up to you on how well you do.
Great professor who really cares about his students. This class was pretty easy as long as you listen to his lectures and do the worksheets he sometimes assigns. To ace his exams, just keep practicing the same type of problems he gives you and you're good. What's on his worksheets and example practice problems are usually similar to the exam.
Very nice, funny, and caring. He really does want everyone to succeed in his class. He is an amazing lecturer! He tries his very best in explaining math the easiest way possible (I was never lost on any topic). Overall, best math professor I have had by far.
great
His lectures are easy to follow and he makes sure to give you a day in class to prepare before an exam. He's really funny and wants to make sure you understand the material. There is homework but he gives you more than enough time to do it. Highly recommend. You're not going to find other prof. like him at CSULB
FAVORITE prof. at CSULB! Super caring about his students and HILARIOUS! It's obvious he knows what he's talking about in math and his lectures are never boring. Webassign hw is due by next class, giving lots of time to complete. His tests are straightforward and he goes over them with class if needed. Sometimes homework is tedious but doable.
Show up for lecture notes or you won't understand anything. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON TIME. He's a really good teacher and wants everyone to pass. Really good at explaining how to do problems. If you don't understand how to do something ASK!!! My mistake was doing all the homework the night before the test. If you're on top of your homework, you'll pass.
Go to lecture if not you wont understand ! He puts the hardest questions on the test and he grades hard hes nice dont buy the textbook just buy webassign the homework is easy he gives you the answers in class you have to study a lot make study groups.
Although he is a funny and nice professor, the class to me seemed a little bit of a challenge. If you put a lot of work into it, you will get the outcome you deserve. His tests are a little tricky and at first, his homework from WebAssign took forever and was frustrating. But after you get used to it, it will be a lot easier.
Professor Geier is super friendly and will do what he can to help you get an A in his class. He's always available during office hours and gives extra recommendations if you're struggling with any coursework. I'm not a big fan of math but I enjoyed taking his class.
Professor Geier is definitely one of the best math instructors Ive ever had. He was very caring about the class and made sure were following along. His lectures were presented in a very understandable way. If you learn with examples, this is the teacher for you.
It's Calculus, what do you expect? The class is difficult and you'll need to study, but Pro. Geier makes a pleasant experience!! He goes through the material step-by-step so if you actually pay attention and do your homework, you'll pass. The lectures are handouts that you print out so it's VERY easy to follow. He does grade hard so show ALL work.
He uses lecture notes and he's very clear when explaining concepts. Sometimes he goes off on tangents and tells stories but they're pretty funny and lighthearted. Great professor
Geier is such a kindhearted prof but he goes wayyyy too fast during lecture. He rarely finishes all problems in the notes. A lotttt of quizzes (grades best 4 out of 5), but he'll tell you exactly what's on them. 4 exams (basically an exam every 6 lectures). WebAssign online hw helps teach problems that he missed in lecture.
Loved the way he teaches. He explains very well with detail and every step. He always starts class going over the homework and tells u what to expect on quizzes and exams. He is also very helpful in answering questions and making sure you understand the question. If I could take him again for my other classes I definitely would. One of the best!
Gerald is an amazing and HILARIOUS professor. Math is not my strongest subject but his teaching style makes everything super clear. He always tells you the kind of questions to expect on the tests and puts up a study guide before each exam. Fun lectures, webassign homework online, and a quiz every week or every other week. TAKE HIM.
He's so chill! Attendance wasn't mandatory since it was in a LH but try to show up. Homework is based of the lectures. Reviews the material before any major exam or quiz. Practice the problems he tells you!! Try to sit towards the front so you can hear him. 10/10 would take again if he taught Calc for the future terms.
Prof. Geier truly cares about his students being successful in his courses and dedicates a good portion of class to making sure all students feel comfortable with the material covered. He goes over homework and common misconceptions that students may have, before quizzes or tests to ensure that everyone is as prepared as possible. Attend lectures!
In highschool I struggled with AP calc but taking this class with prof Geier made me understand calc so well I actually like math now. He doesn't take role but if you don't come to class it'll be hard to learn the material. His lectures and style of teaching is easy to understand and can easily answer questions and help you. He's very friendly too!
3 exams (excluding the final) and around 2 quizzes in between each. Lectures are extremely helpful but use other material to study for exams. Do the homework those points will help you out! Drops 2 lowest quiz grades
Literally the worst. Unresponsive to emails. Tried to bring up grade multiple times throughout the semester was unresponsive!! Also (took him during COVID 19) what kind of teacher gives somebody a failing grade during a PANDEMIC.
Math is not my strongest subject, but Professor Geier made math actually enjoyable. He's really caring and you can tell he really tries his best, even with everything online. Go to office hours if you need any help, and just put in the effort. plus, his lectures are prerecorded and class time is used to discuss the HW. I really recommend him.
Dont let the positive reviews fool you. All of the quizzes and exams are NOT multiple choice. When grading quizzes/tests he is SUPER SPECIFIC on notation. He also complains and kind of rants all the time in class about his workload. But it literally makes no sense on why hes complaining when he doesnt make it MC.
I dreaded taking Calculus but Mr. Geier makes the class kinda fun and bearable! Make sure to do the homework assignments and ask questions on problems that you struggle with. Not the easiest class but not the hardest either. Its a fair class. 10/10 would take again.
He is a fair choice for math. Get ready to do some work because you need to study for this class. Obviously not an easy A. His lectures are reviews of the homework, so if you have questions ASK believe me it would help you an other students. His quizzes are not MC and you need to show work the way he does. 3 exams + 1 written and 1 MC for the fina
Grades heavily based on exams. But there is a lot of homework as well, that make up for only 25%. Have to use his methods, making it so that you have to attend class, even though it is not mandatory. Does not ever offer extra credit, or even dropping the lowest quiz grade. All while in a pandemic.
Amazing, funny, caring professor. I actually learned with this class instead of just monogamous memorization. Lectures are asynchronous and posted around every week. Then, you do your homework and come to zoom with questions (optional). We ended the semester a bit early, giving us extra time for our other finals. He's organized and grades on time.
Mr. geier Is by far one of the best teachers in csulb he really cares for his students. He is amazing at explaining and teaching if you pay attention in class you will definitely pass everything he teaches in class is exactly the same as quizzes just different numbers by far 10/10 best teacher on campus.
When taking this class, be prepared to teach yourself and then get rudely scolded when you don't do it the exact way he wants. He doesn't teach you in class, just confusing videos. He doesn't teach concepts till after the concepts homework is due so too bad if you don't understand. Professor Greier should be your last resort for Math 119A.
This class is difficult and his prerecorded lectures don't really help. He does not explain the material good enough and it basically relies on your past knowledge. He also makes students feel bad when they don't understand a problem. He also has an attitude most of the time when students don't understand. Test are difficult so be prepared.
Because of this awful, despicable teacher I am choosing the leave CSULB. This horrible man will hold you back from learning real calculus. Please for your sake pick any other professor. Its disgusting to me how the university would still allow this horrid mean man to work at the school and bully his students. Shame on him and the university.
Literally the best, it was easiest class i have taken so far. math always comes naturally to me and i found that he made this class so much fun!!! loved him!! Has a lot of homework tho, but it was honestly easy.
All lectures are taught in videos which are confusing. Class time is used to go over homework problems which are easy but come in big amounts. Tests are really difficult and nothing like the homework or lecture problems. Be sure to understand how to do everything and do it exactly how he does it or else you won't get a good grade.
At the beginning of the semester, I was afraid to take this class due to the reviews on here. Honestly, I am terrible at math but his lectures actually made sense. Homework is online and you are able to complete it until you get 100%. Quizzes and exams are exactly like the homework, so just practice the questions and you'll be fine.
Overall, he is a great professor. He really does care for his students and always is asking if students are understanding material. He loves to help if you have trouble. Test and quizzes are challenging because the questions are different from lectures and quizzes so really understanding the material is important.
He is a great professor, however, he was a tough grader. Even if you get the right answer if you don't do it his way you are likely to get points knocked off. His lectures this semester were pre-recorded, so the in-person class times were limited to hmwk questions, extra problems, and a good amount of quizzes. The lowest quiz score can be dropped.
He's an amazing professor and is so passionate about what he teaches. Don't mistake his passion for anger, he wants the best for us. Watch the lecture videos and do the homework before class. He goes over homework and gives extensions to finish after class. There can be a lot of quizzes and tests, so practice the homework and pay attention. Show up
He is nice! Tough grader since he needs problems done with his exact steps. Xyz hw ($30-50) 2 midterms and 6 quizzes. Final was tough, 2 parts (1M.C and Word Problems) DO YOUR HW. You will need the practice it is not an easy A . He is helpful if you need him outside of class. Online video lectures and in class go over hw, quizzes, questions.
He is an awesome professor who cares about his students and wants them to pass. This is not an easy class especially if you are taking a chem class on top of it, but it is manageable. GO TO CLASS!! He mentions what types of problems will be on the quizzes and tests and what he expects to see in your work. Doing the homework and is key!
Homework given is a some what a decent amount, but he gives 1 week of extra time if not done, quizzes are daily easy, and lectures are not heavy.
He really tries to make you understand the logic behind math problems. Picky grader and marks off wrong units and notation, but very helpful with HW and quizzes. Final was hard since you have to think about what the question is asking for.
I dislike math mostly because I'm not the best at it. But this professor is amazing. He is caring and hilarious, took two classes with this professor because he is that great .As long as you keep up with homework and ask questions in class, you'll do great on quizzes/exams. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
Professor Geier is really good at what he does it is hard to rate him because he was a very kind person and really good one-on-one but in regards to the whole class, he really had you learn on your own. He helped me out a lot and this was very helpful for me like I said he is a great person he is just ok at teaching.
Geier is a nice person and the class is not too hard. There is homework and assignment that are due each week, so you have to make sure you stay on top of that because if you miss them, they do add up. He helped as best as he could this semester. He wants everyone to succeed.
Take him just take him. He is very clear when it comes to his quizzes and literally tells you what is on exams and quizzes before hand. he explains it very clearly making it easy to learn and remember. There is a lot of homework but it is very helpful and is not just a waste of time. Plus he is funny and a very chill professor.
If you have a passion for math, then take his classes for a deep understanding. If you are looking for an easy grade, find another professor. He grades harshly on quizzes/test. Tonnns of homework and quizzes almost every week. Although I did learn a lot, my grades did stuffer. All of the lectures were posted online, and he was okay a teaching.
His lectures are recorded lectures that we were supposed to watch on our own time. Great professor, he is good at explaining, and his videos are easy to follow. So the class meetings are mostly to go over the homework problems and solve the problems that most students were having trouble with. The homework is on the textbook that you have to buy.
Great professor, will answer anything you ask and he provides videos on basically everything you will need to know for his class. Hes super caring and will answer literaly anything you ask. Doesnt do any make ups or re takes but honestly with a little bit of studying, your fine.
TAKE HIM!! One of the best professors ever. He will explain concepts extremely clearly and really cares about his students (provides makeups and will review concepts before quizzes). He is also very funny and chill + very knowledgable in math/calculus.
He's a really nice guy, and never makes you feel bad for asking questions. Very helpful and explains things really well. There is a lot of homework, but he always takes time to review for upcoming quizzes and provides lots of practice and examples. He wants you to succeed.
Hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. He is extremely knowledgeable about math and can answer any question you may have easily and clearly. He is so caring and genuinely wants every single student to succeed. I took him for calc and algebra. I literally love him, he's a great professor and person! Highly recommend!
Professor Geier is a knowledgeable and caring instructor who genuinely wants students to succeed. While the class is challenging, with a lot of homework and quizzes, his clear explanations and helpful office hours make it manageable. Unstuckstudy was a game-changer for studying!
Prof. Geier is a really nice individual. Unfortunately he is very skilled in math that he blows by lectures sometimes. I was never good at math so his class was a nightmare at first. When i started sitting in the front and going to office hours is def got better. If you struggle with math,, a little discipline can definitely get you at least a B
Professor Geier was an outstanding teacher. The class is very homework and quiz-heavy, but he is clear on his criteria for each exam and provides great study material. He is very reasonable and understanding, but you must be willing to apply yourself as much as he does to succeed in his class! :)
Geier was decent; fast paced. As long as you attend lectures and do the homework and ask questions when needed you should be fine. It is important to come into this class having previous Algebra 2 knowledge from high school. The "most challenging" subjects were just logs and compound equations.
Gives 1 HW on each subject. Provides clear info during lectures and it is important to go since he does not post step by step. 7 quizzes and lets you drop the worst 2. Also gives an additional week for each hw to complete. Very fast but knows what he is doing and gives enough information. He may get upset if class does not respond to him
He is an excellent professor and grader, but he does move very quick. Attending lectures are VERY beneficial in the long run. As long as you keep up with the material, and go to class, you'll be fine! Attending office hours are ALSO GOOD.
As someone who isn't too good at trig, I loved his class! I learned a lot, and was able to thankfully pass with a C which I'm happy with. He's a super kind and understanding professor, and actually gave me extra credit for the drawing on the back of my quiz 😭 He explains concepts really well and overall it was a great class!
he was good prof. tests and quizzes were not too bad if did the majority of the homework. lectures are pretty useful but he does not take role. overall good class not hard
Amazing professor, had a great attitude and energy! The lectures were posted online and meant for reviewing before coming to class and were quick and super helpful. There were lots of quizzes but they were short and very simple if you understood the topic. He is very clear with his grading criteria and helps set you up to pass and do the best!
Rude in office hours, blows by lectures, short tempered, made mistakes and was corrected by students almost every class. Homework load was overwhelming.
Truly cares for his students. He wants the best for his class! defined what would be on quizzes and exams, well and was overall a helpful teacher
is very fast pace if you struggle with math its going to be a difficult class because he expects you to know stuff. he was very nice though and answered all my questions
Moves so fast, its more like practice math problems not learning it
this guy is just very inconsiderate and does not allow students to perform in the most efficent way to pass the class and get questions right. his way or the highway. and his lectures are WAYYY too fast. avoid at all costs. you have ben warned.
He is nice and goes straight to business. Sometimes he gets mad when he thinks he told us to do something but we didn't do it, but it's not that serious. He grades based on how you show your work, so if you can do it in your head or with a different strategy that won't cut it. Other than that he's a great guy and very reasonable
Great professor, lectures are easy to keep up with. Tests are easy as long as you study the material and use the sources he gives you. DO the homework, it's very helpful for the quizzes. Attendance isn't required, but I highly recommend not skipping bc you could fall behind. Go to his office hours if you have the chance, I wish I had done that.
He really cares about his students, and the class is easy if you keep up with the work. Homework is assigned every night but it's easy and automatic extensions are given if needed. Quizzes and tests are easy and he gives a lot of hints and reviews beforehand. Overall great teacher for anyone- an average student who procrastinates and never studies.
I am not the brightest when it comes to Math, so I was intimidated taking this course from the start. However, Mr. Geier was a terrific professor, probably one of the best Math teachers I have ever had in my life. He gives really good lectures and will help you whenever you ask. Study hard for the final exams however because they are worth a lot!
