Literally intro to java. Three HW assignments, three non-proctored, non cumulative, MC tests. Practice tests and review. One project, can be done alone or in a group of three. Basically we had a month and a half to write about 200 lines. No joke. I recommend him for an easy A, but highly don't recommend for CS majors. It won't prepare you for CS2.

This man literally makes syntax errors while coding in class and can't manage to fix them while staring at the screen for 30 seconds straight. He's a nice guy and all, but expect a very bland and brief introduction of Java. Also his test questions have syntax errors in them yet the disclaimer says there are none right before you take it. LOL.

I slacked off this semester and still passed this course with flying colors. It's safe to say that I did not learn, not due to professor but due to my lack of effort. If this class is just an elective for you and you want an easy A, then definitely take it. I am sure you can also learn a lot, but you can do the bare minimum and still get an A+.

Professor Hensel is the best professor I have ever taken at UCF. Not only are his lectures super interesting but the class itself is super straightforward. There are 3 tests and 3 homeworks throughout the semester which are all super straightforward and match the course content exactly. There are review sessions for each test making it easy.

TL;DR Very easy class to pass but you will learn almost nothing. He seemed to be unprepared for his lectures and didn't seem to have a good grasp of the subject matter; consequently, understanding the subject matter was very difficult.Thankfully, his tests were basically an automatic A but that doesn't mean much if you're actually trying to learn.

So easy, if your a cs major i would recomend taking a different teacher as i didnt feel prepared for cs1 leaving this class but if you just need an easy A take him. The assignments were all like 20 lines of code and took 20> minutes apart from the last one which i didnt even NEED to do to get an A. Tests were online and very easy.

I think he made the class pretty easy to understand and was very lenient with grading. His tests are done through a word file and have errors at times, due 2 days later. He doesn't accept late work but if it's a few minutes after the deadline, he may consider it. Tests are 75% of your grade but the tests are usually questions you can find in ppts.

I love taking Hensel. As a CECS student with classes that are from the depths of hell its always nice to have Hensel. No stress class with 3 homework assignments and 3 take-home tests. Not kidding when I say this is one of the worst professors I've ever had. Besides giving a LOT of homework that has absolutely nothing to do with zybooks, it is incredibly more difficult than anything else presented in the class. The lectures are useless for anything, since he goes through an entire chapter every 2 lectures, and reads from zybooks.

The tests don't contain much of the content he practices in class nor the practice questions he gives online. Very few assignments, bad scores are hard to bring back up. Lecture Assignments are easy, though feedback if something was wrong is not helpful (I believe TA's grade/comment, not helpful). Very passionate, but I didn't learn much from him.

Cool, but the HW is so different/difficult compared to lectures that it's crazy. Exams are all multip choice taken from Zy, and study guides barely help. Never felt preppd for any exams. Jerry Hensel used to be one of the better professors in the CS department at UCF. His lectures were very helpful and his tests and assignments weren't extremely vague or more difficult than expected. I expected this to be one of the better classes for me this semester and it ended being one of my worst. Hensel needs to pull it together. #ZYBOOKSANL

Overall, he's a nice lecturer but still doesn't drive enthusiasm for the content with just typed notes on a screen as he explains material. All assignments were on ZyBooks with 3 tests. Tests are decently easy due to them nearly matching the test review that he gives answers. The hardest part is the ZyBooks that's way harder than all material.
