he is very laid-back and the classes are as fun as they can be, given the material. he sounds like andy dick in the movie Old School, no joke, and it's HYSTERICAL. if you have problems with your computer he will offer solutions. worth it!

Very nice teacher, gives good advice on computers. I don't think you have to go to class since the presentations are online. Just make sure you go to the review cuz he gives you all the info for the answers on the test.

Probably the most boring class ever!! A two hour lecture on computers. He's a community college teacher at Valencia too and super sweet, but at the same time reads straight off the notes which are available to you online. Just show up for the reviews and read the notes. Class is a waste of time.

Nice guy. His tests are straight from the power points, and he tells you what is important during lecture. I recommend attending every class, but if you can't, make sure you always go to every review session. I e-mailed him once with a problem and he got back to me and was understanding about it.

SO easy, don't need to even go to class except for tests! he gives you the power point lectures on line, and he reads directly off them so you don't need to go to class. The man is really boring so i doubt you would want to go anyways. Take him you'll get an A.

I never went to class, because it was so easy! If you can operate the computer you're on right now, this class won't challenge you much. What's so great is that he teaches the class as if you've never seen a computer before. Just make sure you do the projects for the lab.

Easy A, The Lab is the only thing you have to worry about. The revies he gives before the tests are very helpful so make sure you show up for it.

This class is very easy. He gives you a review for the test. Lab assignments are easy. The class is supposed to be two hours, but we usually get out an hour earlier. Definitely take this course with Hensel if you can.

He gets straight to the point and goes over what you need to know for your lab assignments. Once he is done, which is often after only 15-20 minutes, you are free to leave or stay and work on something. Goes everything very well and answers any questions you might have.

The class is easy. Hensel gives reviews, but the reveiw only covers 80-85% of the test questions. Skim through the chapters if you want an A. Got an 86,84, and an 80 on the test, but i pulled out an A in the class. 50% of your grade is in the lab. Take this class!

Hensel's nice and responds quickly and thoroughly to e-mail's. The subject is really boring and was a prerequisite to my major, but he's interested in it and tries to make it interesting. Low text usage, but tests are tricky because the material is vague, so he can't be blamed.

Great guy. Very passionate and knowledgable about the subject. Easy to work with, very understanding. Lecture is not mandatory but lab is. He goes over what you're supposed to know before exam. I liked him a lot. It's not difficult to get a good grade.

Good teacher, easy class. He literally tells you exactly what you need to know for a test the class before. Assignments get tough but not impossible, just get help from classmates. The tests on excell, access.. etc, can be difficult but he curves the grade. I finished with a 98%.

Taking class online. Hensel is really nice, quick to answer emails, and also helps. However, the online instructor is a complete idiot. she takes forever to answer emails or just plain doesnt answer. takes forever to grade and doesnt follow the rubric given.

Mr. Hensel is a great professor. He is really nice and cares a lot about his students doing well. Attendance not mandatory for lecture, but always taken in lab. I took this class last semester online. Very easy course consisting of assignments on non-difficult subjects like Power Point, Word, Excel, etc. The tests were pretty much straight out of the book. Follow the directions on the assignments, use the book during the tests... receive an easy A

He is so nice and treats his students with respect. He moves slowly so there's really no way to not understand. He has a lot of patience and the material is not hard to learn, especially if you go to class where you'll see pictures and he'll walk you through everything step by step.

I learned a few useful things, but mostly I already knew the information. As a math elective though, it was preferable to statistics. Professor Hensel is a good teacher, very helpful and very clear. There were several assignments with very precise, easy to follow instructions. It is a pretty dry class, but Prof. Hensel does what he can.

Very good professor; knows what he's talking about. All of his notes are on PowerPoint, and he gives ample opportunities for extra credit. Word of caution: be sure to have the latest Microsoft Office (2007); you'll need it for your assignments.

Easy A- Class is at Rosen Puts his powerpoints online...tests are online, lots of extra credit. Isnt that clear about detailing what you have to do for the assignments but its very basic, you can figure it out just with playing with Word and Excel. Got out early all the time! Prof. Hensel was a nice guy. While he didn't go into much detail about lab assignments, he did cover all lecture material well. Always gave you the heads up for what was on the tests. Gave a number of extra credit points. Always offered to take students to the lab if they had questions. Would recommend.

I took this class online and it was extremely easy. You don't need to read the book just wait for him to give you a review and then outline it. The class had 8 modules and 3 exams. They were all easy. I def. recommend taking him.

I took CGS face-to-face teaching style, and going to class was neither mandatory, nor helpful. Exams were online, and the text was naturally the perfect resource. This professor solely grades based on online lecture exams and lab assignments/tests. Easy...just make sure not to get too lazy and forget about any of the assignments.

Awesome professor. I've taken 3 of his class and gotten A's in all of them. The material isn't easy but he goes step by step until everyone understands. If you need help talk to the TA 1st and then go to him. Hes a funny guy and tries to keep the class light by cracking corny jokes. if you have the option to take him for any class do it :)

Great teacher, he makes understanding JavaScript than the other teacher that I take in the first time I took this class. He answers a good majority of the question with great answer to understand. Also, he uses the textbook with great effect. Great teacher!!

As far as a professor for the large lecture this guy is sooo nice. The class itself kinda sucks the lab assignments are annoying but tests are easy as long as you go to the review session. Definitely recommend this guy!

Applied Database/Online: Weekly discussion, Exams online/questions straight from text, Data base project (not group). Easy class. Very understandable, will retract bad grade for good excuse and resubmission.

Applied Sys. Analysis I/Online: Easy Class, Exams online/multiple choice and copypaste from text, weekly quizes same. Book and online activities(with book purchase) required for grade. No group project! Instructor is very organized and understandable.

Buy the book and you get an A. 3 tests no final, all the answers are in the book. Going to class is pointless.

Took IT Fundamentals with him. Very down-to-earth teacher and an easy A if you do all of his assignments. I never had a single question he could not answer. He picks some of the best books for his course. If your taking him I recommend getting the book as it helps tremendously with all of his assignments. One of my favorite teachers of all time

The class is pretty easy, and the tests were a breeze, but be careful with your grades! He uses webcourses exclusively and not only was he constantly revising the due dates on assignments, he never configured the gradebook in webcourses to accurately reflect his grade weight system, so I thought I had an A but got a B when final grades were in.

Hensel is a great professor, and his teaching style of just going off on tangents and teaching about many different things is really what the FUNDAMENTALS OF IT is supposed to be about. Great guy.

Super easy teacher and super easy class. He really loves computers and really wants to make it a fun class, so show up to lecture. Rent the book ONLINE because all the exams are online and that will save you. (I got all 95s when the class average was always in the 70s.)

He focuses less on the math behind networking and more on practical stuff, like setting up VPNs, making TP cables and conducting a wireless survey. He also has a load of experience in the IT field and he'll help you if you have questions about how to do stuff outside the classroom. Very nice guy, and an easy A too.

The programs were straight forward, only the last one was tricky. He gives the opportunity for extra credit after every exam and we no cumulative final. Great professor and a nice guy. no textbook needed, and he tells you what to study for the class before each exam.

He really seems to know what he's doing and is very interested in the subject. The labs and lecture were optional, so if you already know some programming it's super easy to pass. But the lectures are very useful for those who need them, and he dropped the lowest exam grade and assignment grade which was very nice.

He is the best prof. I've ever taken. I took him for Intro to C for the whole summer. He taught at a very steady pace, answered questions, and was clear. He has a great grading material; he offered extra credit and he drops your lowest assignment and test grade, including the final! Labs were optional. If you've never programmed before, take him!

3 modules with 3 assignments and project per module in which you do at your own pace. Lectures were pretty decent and I enjoyed them. The material for class isn't difficult and book not required as PDF's are provided, although personally I recommend buying a supplemental book about MYSQL. You could finish everything within a month if you wanted to.

I've been dreading Computer Science since I came to UCF after hearing the MANY horror stories foretold. But Hensel... that man was a saving grace. I never thought in a million years Computer Science would be my easiest class of the semester (out of 6 classes) Hensel Communicates thoroughly & he goes well above, above and beyond. Exams/assignsCake.

Provided all lectures and assignments up front. Explained CS topics clearly and made this class doable. You don't have to be a strong coder in this class, all you had to do was try your best and your grade will reflect it. The prof. also narrowed down topics on tests. All in all, Hensel is the teacher you want if you're an IT person.

I've taken 3 classes with Hensel, he's a great professor. He wants students to learn and sticks to real world situations. For CS1 he made the class digestible. If you're a CS major you might need to do extra studying for foundations exam. Otherwise he explains the concepts very well and grades based on not only correctness but also effort.

He typically posts 1-2 videos a week and you are given a project to finish before each test. Projects were relatively easy coding assignments and if you don't understand it, just go to the TA office hours. I did find some topics challenging but I already have experience with C. The 3 tests were moderate and had coding portion. Ok class. No textbook

He is amazing!! You can tell he really cares about his students as well as enjoys teaching and wants to see you succeed. There was a grading mistake on my test made by a TA and I asked him about it after class and he immediately fixed it for me. He also gives EC occasionally so go to class. Take him, he's the best!

For my first semester at UCF, professor Hensel is an easy and great professor if you want a really easy semester. There is absolutely no need to show up to class. Even though his lectures are boring, study guides and useful information for studying are given. Easy professor, easy criteria. You will pass.

Great Professor! He clearly explains everything clearly by providing you with step by step lectures on how to program and the terms that are important, with supplemental resources for help. Pretty solid teacher, cares more about the students learning then having them take exams. Really good exam reviews, gets you really prepared for the exam. The class is very similar to Web-based IT when it comes to its content and some of its assignments. Overall enjoyed the class.

online due to covid. Class wasn't too hard, just 5 assignments and 3 exams. Prof taught the material clearly and was always ready to help. if you want to grasp concepts more after class, go to SARC tutoring. although the lectures were good, the SARC sessions really helped to reinforce the important concepts.

Prof Hensel was alright. I would say I'm a beginner with a small background of coding, his lectures were helpful. 5 assignments with an extra credit optional one and 3 exams. got 100s on every exam and 4/5 of the assignments. Coding assignments definitely take a few hours of your day though!

A professor that you can tell genuinely enjoys lecturing and interaction with students. Weeklyish HW Assignments, but they're usually just following/recreating a tutorial. 3 tests that are more or less MC Vocabulary Tests, gives out questions and answers beforehand in form of study guys. Do the HW and study the guides and it's an easy A.

He is very caring and the book is optional. 3 tests and 5 assignments. Took him online and his study guides where helpful. Give yourself time to do his assignments and don't wait last minute, they focus on html, css, JavaScript and possibly php or bootstrap. CGS3175 feels like an art class but with code and a good class to take with a harder one.

Engaging lectures, as he mentions applications to concepts whenever possible. Only graded by a few tests and assignments and a couple quizzes, but he does a great job preparing you for them. Would happily take him again.

This was a fairly easy CS elective. There were 3 hw assignments. The first was very easy. The second two required coding. All of which were graded very fairly. Exams were easy. He gives out test reviews and does review classes. Read over these and takes notes on the questions he gives in the reviews and you will do great.

Take Hensel for any class you can. Easy A. He'll offer a decent amount of weekly homeworks, which account to you following a set of steps to recreate a setup within a VM. 3 non-cumulative tests, gives the answers beforehand in study guides. No final exam! He'll throw out extra credit for simple things like attending a certain webinar, etc.

Professor was friendly, the lectures were a mix of note taking and follow-along programming, with the option to come up and ask for individual help at the end. Lectures were in person, but also available on Zoom. Tests are only easy if you study. There is a 48 hr online test window, taken online. The review session and study guide are helpful.

There are only 5 assignments, all of which build upon the previous to a degree (For example, Assignment 2 is just formatting Assignment 1 to look better than something out of 1995.). You have access to previous students work as examples. 3 tests, not cumulative. No final exam. Very straight forward and easy. He like star wars a little too much.

Five assignments, few tests, no final exam. Every program is about 20-50 lines, but the last assignment is a project about 200 lines (for me). If you need to learn C, do not take him. If you want an easy A, go for it. If you need to learn C for CS1, but still want an easy A, take him, but make sure you take Gerber for CS1. Otherwise good luck.

Literally intro to java. Three HW assignments, three non-proctored, non cumulative, MC tests. Practice tests and review. One project, can be done alone or in a group of three. Basically we had a month and a half to write about 200 lines. No joke. I recommend him for an easy A, but highly don't recommend for CS majors. It won't prepare you for CS2.

It was basically participation credit. He made my life a little less stressful this semester, which was nice.

Professor Hensel is the best professor I have ever taken at UCF. Not only are his lectures super interesting but the class itself is super straightforward. There are 3 tests and 3 homeworks throughout the semester which are all super straightforward and match the course content exactly. There are review sessions for each test making it easy.

Lots of homework, fun to do. I was able to complete all assignments in the first week. He cares about his student. If you have any issues, text him on his cell phone, and he will get back to you.

I think he made the class pretty easy to understand and was very lenient with grading. His tests are done through a word file and have errors at times, due 2 days later. He doesn't accept late work but if it's a few minutes after the deadline, he may consider it. Tests are 75% of your grade but the tests are usually questions you can find in ppts.

This class was quite simple and graded on 3 tests and 3 projects. Tests were open note and the projects werent too bad.

I love taking Hensel. As a CECS student with classes that are from the depths of hell its always nice to have Hensel. No stress class with 3 homework assignments and 3 take-home tests. On the last test I got 2/5 questions completely wrong and still got an A somehow. Man is a legend take him if you dont are about learning anything.

This class is group - project lead, the professor is super nice and helps when asked for it. Your success in this class depends 100% on your groupmates and your involvement in whichever human-computer interaction you choose to do. Only went to the first couple of lectures and then met with my group outside of class for our project. Easy A

This class is essentially a giant group project. The only things you learn in class are Agile principles that you are supposed to utilize during the project lifecycle. Very easy class as long as you and your group members actually produce a deliverable.

very few assignments—3 or 4. along with 3 exams. all of which are very straightforward. he does tend to get off topic in lecture but i still thought they were helpful. very caring. he was always super helpful when i had doubts or concerns.

Hensel is an awesome chill guy, it's my second time taking him and he makes his class super passable. 3 PA's where all you have to do is explain the code in a short essay, and three online tests which can be found on quizlet. Attendance wasn't mandatory for his lectures. This class is very easy and stress free class.

Easy class. You can pass without going to lectures. He is very kind and wants you to pass. 10/10

Entirely project based class. There's hard deadlines where you'll turn in your progress and reports on teammates for a grade. He's super lenient with grading. Attendance isn't really required except on two occasions. The one where you do an in class RITE where he'll give you a passcode and the final presentation through zoom (a 1 to 1/team)
