Mr. Lewis is a fantastic teacher!!! I learned so much from him and I actually looked forward to going to class every morning!

Overall excellence; the best teacher I've had! Well organized, knows his subject, clear, concise, excellent lectures. Challenging but not impossible.

Excellent instructor, wants you to do well in the class and always willing to help outside of class. And he is sexy.

Take it from an "A" student, you need to take his class! He demands your best, but gives you what you need to succeed. He is brilliant and funny and makes geology actually interesting. It doesn't hurt that he is incredibly sexy too!

He is a good instructor, but you have to work really hard in his class. You learn a lot in his class. overall I think his class wasn't boring. He is a really funny guy.

One of my best teacher this quarter. Funny, dedicated, great teacher. Go to class, take notes, read them and really understand them..skim the book and really study for the tests; he's always there for you. Best to make group studies, helps a lot. ENJOY!

His notes are very visually oriented. Funny, has lived a life outside of college. You have to work and study, but you might enjoy yourself. Anyway, study groups are what college is about.

One of the best teachers in the world. Does not tolerate slakers but will be fair. He tries to make you think and understand. A master of carbonate rocks. Will help you when approached. One of the best lecturers I have ever studied under.

Great profesor on the trips. go to poleta and marble mtn. with him if you get a chance. great food and lots of fun.

One of the best teachers I have ever had! Study the notes, look at the maps, and ask questions and you will do well in his class. Test are long but he leaves copies of the tests in the library for you to study.

Great teacher! Not an easy class. He gives very detailed notes and examples of test are in library. Study your notes, maps, and read chapters! Overall, you do come away with a better understanding of the importance of Geology. It's not just a bunch of Rocks!!!

He's a great professor. His lectures are very informative and amusing. The tests are tough, but his study guides help if you really use them. The homework is easy and he's not anal about it. Just work hard and take good notes. Most of the test questions come from his notes.

he's a interesting teacher and loves what he teaches. he tells alot of corny jokes but thats what makes him unique. a negative side about is class however, is that your grade is based only on 5 test which includes the final and your homework. tests are hard, but i still recommend this class.

Great teacher! Because of Lewis' class I decided to major in geology. His lectures are interesting and his notes are super clear. However, his tests are very comprehensive (worth it if you want to actually learn). If you're interested in geology you will love his class. Highly recommended.

I'm pretty sure he wanted to be an artist before a geologist. a fantastic teacher with a great sense of humor. abstract examples or "homework assignments" really help you remember alot of things. use the study guides and prepare for extensive tests. want an A? two words: STUDY GROUPS!

For a class about dirt and rocks (sorry, I mean MINERALS) Lewis does a great job of making it interesting and fun.Tests were challenging and alot studying is required, but a good grade is possible if the effort is made.Not an easy class for the working person.

this teacher was the hardest I ever had at PCC but at the same time the Best!What u learn actually sticks to ur head.Do all the homeworks yourself-try not to copy coz doing it urself only benefits you and helps u prepare for the tests.Learn the study guides he gives out also the ones in the library.

A teacher that loves what he is doing and makes what he teaches fun. We really need more teachers like this. I could go on for hours about how much I have enjoyed his class - trust me, take this class, and you will enjoy it. I always thought that geology was boring, but now I want to major in it!

Lewis has been the best teacher I've had a PCC so far. I am bummed that I'm not in his class anymore. Even if you aren't that interested in geology, take this class. You will not regret it. Plus, Lewis is likely the most helpful teacher you will ever have.

Geology wasnt a very appealing subject to me but Lewis was such a great professor that it made me interested. He's an expert in his field so his lectures are always fun and informative. Theres a lot of interactive work so you're never bored either. His tests arent easy but just dont miss lecture

Most people who type up good reviews for his class are people who are majoring in geology. His class is not as easy as others say. He has a lot of hwk assignments and he has hard exams. He does not give you notes to have on the test so you have to study hard.He crams like 5 chapters in one!

Without a doubt one of the best teachers I have EVER had. His lectures are informative and hilarious and every moment spent in class is a pleasurable one. My advice: take him now before its too late. If you show up, follow his notes, take advantage of his old tests and put in a little effort, you'll do well. I miss the man already.

Mr. Lewis is definently one of the funniest teachers that I have ever taken. I always looked forward to his class every week just to hear his jokes and witty outtakes. His tests are hard mostly because theres an awful lot of stuff to memorize, but if you study you'll be fine. Be sure to take note of anything he says since he might use it in a test.

The class is difficult and you must commit to studying a lot. There is also about 2-3 hours of assignments every week. However, the class is fun and he is more than fair/helpful. The lectures are interesting and easy to follow. He makes difficult material easy to understand. Test are difficult, but he gives study guides and sample tests.

Such an awesome professor! Lots of work, but worth it. Be sure to show up to every class and take really good notes. He is not easy but he is completely fair. Lewis is awesome, yeah he kinda makes you into a quasi geologist but he has an amazing sense of humor and actually made me want to drive from Riverside and San Diego to make my 7:45 class

The best professor I have ever had at college. But beware that his class is very challenging. I did receive an A but had to work very hard to get it. Many failed or just dropped out. Probably too lazy because Lewis give's you everything you need for his test's. Thank you for a very interesting course, Michael.

This guy is the best. He is so passionate and smart. He is like the smartest guy I 've ever met. You will learn something in his class. He gives the very best of what he has, and boy can that guy draw, he could do illustrations for field books. I wish I could draw like that for my field journals!

This is a GREAT class! I had so much fun... it turned me into a rock snob! Prof. Lewis is SO funny! He's retiring and the last class he's teaching is this spring. Last chance!!!! Don't get me wrong, it was a tough class, I ended up with a B; and if you're lazy don't take it! You'll learn alot and have a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Very knowledgeable about the subject, his lectures are very detailed but they go over in lock step what the assigned reading was and he explains things clearly. The test are hard but he gives a study guide and has sample test questions for each test on reserve at the Library so take advantage of all resources

After 49 units in PCC with a GPA of 3.7 I would say He is Just An EXCELLENT Professor, The Best, A university quality lecture and, not any university. Just amazingly fun lectures and as a person extraordinarily talented but demanding , however very helpful. He will tell you "Study as your life depends on it" do so, and you are guaranteed an A. Amazing professor. He knows his stuff and loves what he does. The class is by no means easy, but he will go out of his way to help you. Take good notes and study them, show up to class, and use the practice tests in the library! The real tests are practically the same. Will this teacher make you love geology? "THAT'S CALLED YES!"

Hard class

He's a great prof, but if you're looking for an easy A, this class is not for you. If you're willing to put in a bit of time and effort,then you will do well. Master the notes, skim the chapter, do all the hw, and make good use of the sample tests in the library! Also, don't be afraid to ask him questions- he's very helpful (and so are the tutors).

His lectures are the best, this guy knows what he's talking about! He's hilarious so he makes the class fun. His hw is pretty easy, but sometimes the maps are extremely detailed and can take a while. Do all the hw, it will save you in the end! His tests are hard so study as if your life depended on it. Easily the most intersting class I've taken at pcc.

the class is interesting. you will actually learn and enjoy it. however, the tests are pretty hard and you really have to put some time in there. before the test, BE SURE TO STUDY THE LIBRARY LESSON. ITS EXACTLY THE SAME AS TEST!! attendance isnt that neccessary but its better if you go to class and learn the material.

He is so hilarious, and if you actually talk to him he is so terrific and personable... His personality is a metaphor for what he teaches. He never reads from the textbook, he knows his stuff cold, and his deliverance is impeccable. You'll leave class feeling like you've just visited a comedy club, when it was in fact GEOLOGY!

great guy but i do believe he retired as of summer 2009. copy chaps out of library book rather than buy. form study group early, know your minerals, use his study guide and sample tests they are just like real tests. you need perfect notes. class is not easy and if you fall behind you and your porsha carrera will be left in the dust

Best teacher at PCC, HANDS DOWN. Funny and extremely intelligent. Geology is a rough class but Lewis made it fun! He's retired, but teaches from time to time. Well worth the money. Other people pay thousands of dollars at other universities to get a prof. like him.

He is an extremely good professor. He made geology fun. If you have any questions he will go out of his way to make you understand better. Very important you study the sample test in the library, that's where he gets most his questions. He's fun and witty.

THE BEST! I had no interest in Geology before taking him, and now I'm totally fascinated by the subject. His lectures are immpecable, and if you do your work, you will do well. Check out the sample tests he's got in the library, and pay attention in class. He makes it really fun! A REAL PROFESSOR! Love him!

I've never taken geology before but he is an AMAZING teacher. the tests are all based off lecture so attendance is key. he gives out fun hw. overall u have like 3 main test, 2 map exams and a mineral exam. all the test are point blank..basic. he gives out a study guide and some stuff are open notes. He's great...take him!

Lewis is the best professor at PCC! His lectures are very interesting and clear. This man is hilarious and knows Geology like the back of his hand! You will need the book for studying at home, but don't bother lugging it to class. Take good notes, do the HW and study before the exams; you'll pass as long as you're not a slacker.

Hands down, the best professor I've had at PCC! He provides you with all the necessary tools you'll need to succeed in his class and unlike most Geology teachers, he doesn't waste time over emphasizing on minerals. His throw back approach to teaching proves that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

Best professor I have had thus far! I signed up for Geology dreading the class & hoping to simply pass and get it out of the way. Prof. Lewis explains everything in a way that actually got me interested in the subject! I ended up getting an A in the class. Very highly recommended!!!

Take good notes, attend class, do what he says and this class will be a breeze. You NEED to study his lecture notes and do the practice tests. He keeps the class interesting with his gabbro in-n-out jokes etc. :D I think most students don't do well in his class because they do not listen to him. LISTENING is very important in this class. Very interesting class!! He will explain everything in detail and make the class fun and entertaining. He is a really good professor, but this class requires most of your attention and dedication. Study with your notes and sample tests and everything would be alright.

Awesome, interesting lectures. as long as you take good notes, pay attention to the lecture, and save all your assignments then the exams wont be difficult at all. you won't really even need to read the book since he covers everything plus more in the lectures:) I highly recommend the class to everyone:)

Came into the class seeing if I wanted to pursue geology as a career, and Professor Lewis did a great job at keeping me interested. His lectures are very detailed, and he is very thorough in is notes. I didn't even bother getting the book. Not that I would suggest doing that....Highly recommended teacher. Plus he has an excellent sense of humor!

I really enjoyed this class. I took this course mainly to fulfill my general education credit, but thoroughly loved the class. Professor Lewis is helpful and really clear in his lectures. He makes jokes here and there and makes the class fun. Sample tests are given before each exam and make sure to take notes in class; they all help for the exam!

This has been my favorite class at pcc so far! Professor Lewis has a lot of passion for geology and it's infectious. His class isn't difficult, you just need to be a student who tries. As long as you pay attention to his lectures, take good notes, ask questions, form study groups, and stay organized, you will be fine. Definitely recommend!

I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR! I have this class from the morning to the afternoon, and I never feel the need to fall asleep because he is very funny and his lectures are interesting as well. Lewis is the best college professor I've ever had! He makes everything so interesting and easy to understand. His personal stories are absolutely hilarious and tie into geology lessons pretty well. It's impossible to skip his lectures because they're just so great!! Highly recommend before he retires!!!!!

I really enjoyed Professor Lewis' Geology class. I passed with an A pretty easily. All you need to do is listen to his lectures and write down the notes he writes down on the board unless he says do not write this. When it comes to the tests all the answers are in the notes and if you skip class and miss the notes you can find them in the book.

You will love this professor. He is very clear and enthusiastic about what he teaches! Taking detailed, clear, legible notes is crucial to passing the class and the exams. Also, sit in the front because you will be able to clearly see the board and rock samples. He is a great person!!

Professor Lewis is a good lecturer and pretty hilarious. If you sit in the front row be prepared to participate A LOT. An A is achievable- you just have to take good notes, complete all the assignments (they are numerous but easy), read the text and complete both the study guide and the practice test in the library. This class was awesome & its not even my major . If you want to take a science class that does not have a lot of math, take this one. Lectures are great and he is clear about everything he wants; there are no surprises. Tests are multiple choice and short answer. After the class is over you can impress your friends with your knowledge of minerals!

His lectures are so interesting that every time I was in his class I wanted to change my major to Geology. Great, funny, very clear lectures, and he knows soo much about Geology's place in other areas too such as history and politics. His tests are kind of tough and cover a lot of material but he's an easy grader on the written portions.

Best teacher i have ever had. I took this class because i needed it to transfer and i can say that i have never been more interested in any other class i have ever taken. He is simply wonderful, and so great at what he does. You won't have another teacher who holds your interest as well as he does while also making you understand the topic.

Lewis is a straight-forward professor at PCC and has taught longer than most. The class has a handful of tests, a mineral exam, and a homework folder. Doing the practice quizzes, looking at the sample tests, taking detailed notes, and showing up will net you a successful grade. Lectures are fresh and interesting. Commit hardness scale to memory.

I am now a geology major because of professor Lewis! His lectures are crystal clear and writes and draws all notes on the board. His exams are pretty tough but if you put a good amount of time into studying it shouldn't be a problem. Take the class, you will not regret it! :)

Prof. Lewis is a very kind hearted man that interacts with students, jokes time to time, and more than willing to help. Curriculum wise, it is very difficult to do poorly in this class. Prof. Lewis gives study guides and all previous tests could be found at the library, once he leaves it there. Just be sure to study and you should be fine.

He is by far one of my absolute professors here. Super funny guy and really easy to talk to. Didn't really use the textbook much despite what the syllabus says. Class is by no means really easy. HW is easy, but tests are a handful. He wants you to pass and he'll give you every chance to. Good note taking and lots of studying ARE A MUST to pass.

Prof. Lewis really knows his stuff, his lecture stories are amazing and he can draw incredibly detailed maps and cross sections in seconds. Has a lot of knowledge about chemistry, science, history, and how things work (not just geology). Not an easy class but you will learn a lot! Wishing he taught other GEOL courses at PCC. Lewis is an all-around amazing professor. He has had a life time of experience in the field of geology and has therefore perfected his lesson plan. I was always late (sorry) but never wanted to skip this class as you learn so much and can easily fall in love with volcanos, quakes and minerals due to his charismatic and involved lectures. TAKE IT!

Such a great professor. I struggled this semester due to my mental health but Lewis noticed I was falling behind & took the time to reach out to me, which I'm forever grateful for. He has a unique sense of humor which made lectures fun. He gives a TON of handouts which can be hard to organize. But overall this was such a great class. Thanks prof!
