Prof. McIntyre is a detailed lecturer, who makes bad jokes and always runs overtime. His exams are a bit harder than you'd expect but let you pick which questions to answer. The supplemental problem sets and previous midterms should prepare you well for them. The class is graded fairly: your grade is the highest of either your num. score or curve.

His lectures are great. He connects recent news and events with the Econ concepts he taught, which make this class more useful. His exams are hard, but the grades are curved. The exercises he provided are useful for understanding concepts and preparing for exams, so do homework! Go to every lecture and review, you will be fine.

In the beginning of the semester I thought this class would be a breeze. But after the first midterm, I realized Professor McIntyre is really trying to test understanding and purposely makes the exams super difficult. But his grading is very fair because he uses a percentile system, so if you are in the top _ % of the class you get an A.

Gerry's class wasn't bad but his midterms and finals are difficult. He makes you do online homeworks, which aren't too bad, and recitation is optional. Gerry attempts to make the class laugh occasionally but mostly its just dry lectures. Not a terribly difficult class to get an A in, but you'll need to get lucky if you plan on finessing.

If you're someone looking for more of a discussion based introduction to macroecon, this is not the class for you. McIntyre likes to talk at you and doesn't do much for encouraging discussion. To be fair, this may be due to time constraints. The exams are difficult, and a lot of people fail. He also talks a lot about himself and his personal wealth

I've heard if you meet with him outside of class, he's much less arrogant... however, my schedule never allowed for me to do so. I don't quite enjoy those weekly checkups(all are multiple-choice) because they are not very relevant to recitation problems and if you make 2+ mistakes your grade will be totally ruined. The final was also graded harshly. It is easy though if you are talented in macro econ and don't need many exercises to ace the weekly checkups and the final.

I took Prof. McIntyre's Interm Macro. It is the best Econ class I have taken at NYU. His lecture is clear, and he uploads every course slide online. His homework is just weekly quizzes(it is a little hard though). And his final exam are basically all written responses, so as long as you understand the concept he taught in class, you will be fine.

His grading rubric is so subjective, and if you think you have the full answer, TAs may still give you partial score, and they don't regrade your test. His lecture is a bit unorganized as well, he focus too much on the example instead of giving a more practical explanation on the concept. Quiz is hard and sometimes uncorrelated to the lecture.

It is nearly impossible to have a regrade from him as he will threaten you by saying "the TAs are nice, but I am not." All three sections, with different exams, are curved together.
