Really smart guy, funny too. He's one of those teachers that makes you want to do well in his class. You know the ones that you want to impress, not just to get a good grade, but to, like, show what you're capable of. Plus he's a really easy to relate to.

Jerry is a tight ass teacher. He's hella cool and makes the class a fun environment to be in.

Jerry is the best teacher I had in my life. He is funny, helpful and fair. He is an easy grader if you do your work. The projects for the class are interesting, but sometimes hard. Still you'll have fun in class. His best students ever were the cafeteria girls, ask him about them.

The previous rater is an idiot. I know who he is because I was in his class and he was the only student with bad attendance so he's just grinding his axe. How could the guy know if Jerry was teaching anything when the guy wasn't there half the time? I've been in two of Jerry Vicich's classes and he is one of the best art teachers I've ever had.

Jerry is great. A really nice guy, but he does tend to favor students with more talent or experience. If you've never taken an art class or are not artistically inclined you may feel a little shunned. But I would still recommend him if you want to learn and have a great time in class. Every teacher should be more like Jerry. A+

Kind, helpful buddy to his students. Helped me discover & enjoy aesthetic sense. Cynical,bitter,yet upbeat. Constant corny jokes are his strength & weakness; offensive/annoying to those who are spiritual, intellectual or sober-minded. Personally I was disturbed by hours of hearing my classmates' inane conversation(I'm not into sex/drugs/negativism)

Very open-minded, willing to help students in anyway and anytime. To get an A easily if: Attend all classes, don't come late or leave early, complete all projects and excercises on time no matter how bad they are. He is very annoying to those who don't come to class. Otherwise, he is very helpful and respectful, and makes the class very interesting

This guy is the best art teacher i've ever had. You can learn so much from him no matter what level artist you are. It's a really fun laid back environment, while still being a great learning experience. If you show up and try hard he will grade you well, but really pay attention because you can learn a lot. TAKE THIS CLASS!

Funny as ****! Down to earth, encouraging, doesn't make non-art majors feel stupid or inadequate, allows everyone to work from where THEY are in terms of levels of skill. Laid-back about everything but attendance. Really cares about students. Highly recommend!

He's fun and he really wants you guys come on time.. he doesn't like students who come late and leave early, and also who don't come to class. He can be really mean to students like that. But overall he's a nice teacher. you can learn a lot from him. you can use his type of projects in any of your art classes.

I'm back @ school just 4 art & decided to take every 1 of his classes, including re-taking drawing 20a -the previous teacher sucked & I almost quit art - I want something fun & encouraging to look forward to like I did his design 10a. I used to hate art and took art because i had to. after taking his class, i became to love art. he's very helful and respectful in and outside class. but be careful with attendance. he's very fussy about attendance. if u miss a class, he'll make fun of u on the next day and it will hurt your grade.

yeah, i agree with the previous rater. he's definitely good, but his attendance policy may kill your grade if u don't pay attention to it.

I love Mr. Vicich's class. He has a great way of explaining his ideas and an awesome sense of humor. You'll definitely leave this class a better artist from when you started. If you do all the assignments and meet your deadlines, you'll do great in his class.

I took Jerry's class in the summer. He is a very nice man, down to earth, and funny! He teases some students, but in an affectionate way. I learned a lot from him, he is really talented, and makes the learning process fun! I definitely recomend taking his class!!

funny teacher and he always makes the class situation feel relax, but still go effectively.. attendance its quite important..but missed 1 or 2 times should be fine... i recommended to take his clss! Easy A if you have a great craftmanship(neat&clean work)

He was an extremely nice man. If you had attented the class, do your homework, you'll be fine. His lecture really allow you to learn basic drawing skill. Take him and you can build up your basic.

Jerry is by far the coolest art teacher ever!! He truly cares about each individual and helps you so much. I guarantee that your art will improve and at you will have a blast in his class at the same time. He is funny!!! Take him or else you will seriously regret it. He's a great teacher. He likes to tease people, don't take it personally, it's just his way of saying he likes you. I learned alot in this class, he really cares about his students and the work they do. He's very inspirational, I did the best work of my life (so far) in his class. A great teacher, and one SMC should hang on to!

Jerry is the ideal Art Professor--He is easy AND you will learn. Beginner or expert he will teach the elements and principles of design/drawing and prepare you for art school. He is the greatest instructor at SMC.

I totally recommend this class. With that being said, this class is no cake walk. The projects are quite time consuming and frustrating. I definitely pulled a couple of all nighters making sure that I had my projects in on time. Take this class though. Professor Vicich is friendly, helpful, and fun to work with. DON'T PROCRASTINATE IN THIS CLASS!

Brilliant and funny professor. Helps everyone and knows all the students by name. I took the Summer class and worked hard. He's strict about attendance and homework. Don't slack. You will be glad you got in this class and will learn a lot.

i have never had a art teacher like him. He would always make everyone laugh and the class was very fun and relaxing.

This class is great, but mostly for art majors who already know what there doing, and have some clue in regards of drawing. This class was hard for me because he made us draw from first day not knowing how to draw. I thought this was an intro class to drawing but no, I guess you have to have some knowledge. Nice guy tho, but strict not for slackers

I have been taking art classes all throughout high school, and I can honestly say that he is the best art teacher I have ever had. He teaches you a very important way of looking at a subject. This class definitely helped my drawing ability and class was fun an engaging. Take him over the summer, you won't regret it!

Gerry is incredibly passionate and gifted as an artist. As a teacher, he is very helpful, thorough, & goes out of his way in making sure that the class is enjoyable & that the students get as much out of the class as possible. He is one of the few teachers you'll ever meet who values your education & understanding over what is merely required.

Easy, helpful professor. You need to be on time. Attendance mandatory.

Attendance is absolutely mandatory. If you're late or absent too many times he will drop you. But he's a really great teacher! He clearly explains every assignment and is there if you need any help or further clarification. The assignments are all very simple too, you don't even have to be an art major to pass. Take this class for an easy A!

I didn't attend a day of class except for census period and test days and I passed the class with no problems. If you choose to skip class you need to book 100%. Attendance is not mandatory and he gives a small chance at extra credit. Easy tests if you read the material or attend lectures. And he's hot ;.

Vicich is a very good professor. I learned a lot from his class. Show up the first day and don't skip or be late too often, or he will definitely drop you. He will help you if you ask. He's pretty funny. I was supposed to get an A but got the wrong deadline for the sketchbook so I got a B, but that's my fault. Start working on the sketchbook early!

Great teacher overall, he gives feedback and jumps in if you need help. Attendance is mandatory, almost got dropped for missing a bunch of days. He's funny, but sometimes tries to hard. For most good class most assignments are soft deadlines except for mid term and finals. (Duh)

DONT BE LATE he takes punctuality VERY seriously. He's a nice guy and very helpful. Not weird and kooky like a lot of art teachers. Pretty straightforward and teaches you a lot. I learned so much from him and really enjoyed the class.

Took his Art 10A class and was pretty fun. An amazing teacher and very funny, does tend to get off topic in class when he tells stories but a very fun class. Easy going, however must attend class and stay on top of projects! Don't slack off and attend all the lectures or you will fall behind. Overall, great professor and would highly recommend.

Mr. Vicich is an exceptional art professor with extensive knowledge of art, he gives great feedback and wants to see his students succeed. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY in his class, do not be late and do not miss class, as long as you don't give him attitude and excuses as to why you are late, you will be perfectly fine.

Professor Vicich is a good instructor. I took his 20A last Spring . Homework included two self portraits and 50 sketches in your sketchbook. Everything else was done in class, including the final. Great instruction, funny, and down to earth. He is a stickler about attendance, but plays classic rock in class! Rock on Gerry, rock on!!

Gerald is a very good instructor. He was very good at explaining how to execute specific techniques, gave good lectures (yes, lectures in art)/demonstrations, and always made sure the class understood how to do things right. Not only was his teaching style useful, but his class was a lot of fun. I highly recommend taking his ART 20A class.

Just take him. Even though I was in a 5 hour class with him, it went by fast because we were always working on something which was actually quite enjoyable. Some days you take notes. No tests. Gives great feedback back on what you should work on and gives you a chance to redo them right. He would come around to make sure the class is drawing correc

One of the best professors I've had. He's funny, super fair, gives good feedback, and shows no preference for art majors or students with more experience. He's genuinely a great guy and a great teacher, you will learn a lot and see real improvement in your drawing if you just do the work he assigns, and respect his time.

Make sure you show up to every class, and he HATES cellphones so do not bring yours out. Grade Breakdown - In Class Work: 40%, Homework: 40%, Attendance & Participation: 20%. You are responsible for the required drawings as well as a 8 1/2"-9"x11" sketchbook with 50 sketches.

There was only 1 to 1/2 a page of notes per week, no overlapping notes at all. That's what I think the 2 difficulty is about. Lots of homework many hours, and half the time I had to pick it back up when done and spend more time fixing it to his liking. He is a piece if cake with re dos allowed, no book reading, and late work allowed.

I'm an artistic person who can't draw or so I thought. I learned so much in this class and would highly recommend. Jerry has been a seriously wonderful professor and I enjoyed his class. I know this is a shock but you will have to spend time drawing and if you don't, it will show. He is also always available for office hours. Take his class!

I took a fast paced online summer class at Pierce College with Jerry. This is the best experience I've had with a teacher at pierce. For the assignments he would provide a page clearly explaining them, along with videos showing exactly what to do. He was a very helpful teacher, fair grader, good feedback, overall my favorite classes I've taken.

I loved having Gerald as my Drawing 1 teacher. He was so clear about assignments and what was expected. Very reasonable homework, and he is funny too! I recommend 100%.
