don't cheat in this class.....don't even make it look like you're cheating.....even if you aren't at all....she's strict when it comes to quality of work and whether or not you did it yourself
worst teacher, could care less about students, will put you down in front of entire class for asking a simple question
Always has an attitude. You can never get a straight answer from her either.

The nicest and clearest teacher I have ever had. I would not have gotten through Statics without her.
She's the best there is in this field. She explains well, makes sure you understand the material. Also, it's better to take her for the course in the night time alone, than with Golub in the lecture.
She is very good at explaining problems. She rarely used power point. She does plenty of examples by hand on the projector or on the board. If you have a B+ or A going into the final, you don't have to take it. She does have an attitude though.

mood dependent
she's cute... very organized. good teacher.
One of the bes teachers I have had.
Great teacher, her mood decides how cool she is on any given day
Tough Teacher but very clear and very helpful. very organized, communicates well and her hardwriting is great. She's good
great professor but forces you to buy a cd she makes herself for $50 which she made copies of at a cost of 40 cents a piece to her.
Very good, thorough and doesn't care about attendance in the night class; However, policy of class is exemption from final with a B and above average, but she is objective with this rule and makes even those with a B+ average take it
tells me i am not exempt when i really was
she is a TEACHER!!! She knows the material like the back of her hand. Exams are based on the homework. Very organized. I would like to have a teacher like her for every class.
She is a ok teacher. But can be rude if she wants to. Exams are not hard.
Shes a very good teacher.Exam problems were just like h.w problems. Shes ok on grading and exams fluctuate here and there. What she thinks is easy might be hard to you . If you take her night class , watchout she tends to drowse off at the end ...
She's very good. If you read the material and come to her class, you will understand most of the stuffs. Good grader though.
Not only I took her for this class, I also took her for MECH 237. One of the best Professors I've ever had teaching. You will actually learn in this class. God Bless.
She knows the material very well and makes you understand it if you pay attention.
very helpful professor. if you are willing to learn throughout college and not just pass by with easy grades, you will be fine with this professor. strict at times, but one of best i have seen. personal favorite of mine.
Good professor. Very helpful and really clear in how she explains things.Dont know if it was the class or her but there was ALOT of work! i would say still take her though
Awesome professor. Exams are not that bad. Learn alot of stuffs from her. Definitely take her if you get the chance.
Milano genuinely enjoys helping students. She's the first professor I've had so far that actually cares how well her class is doing on their exams.
Loose cannon there is no telling what she might do she can be real nice or a u know what. but a good teacher over all...
Good explainer....extremely helpful with new concepts....do the homeowork and you should be fine....one of the best teacher....highly recommended!!!
She expects alot but is a really good teacher, just make sure she likes you.
She knows her stuff, and she'll give it to you straight. She doesn't take excuses and slackness. If you show her that you're trying and you're working hard, she'll go out of her way to help you. She's a great professor.
Knows her stuff genrally nice and helpfull but has herdays if u know what i mean
if you just want someone who will go easy on you and give you good grades, i'd suggest going to another school, like county college or something. if you want to LEARN more in one class than from any other teacher at this campus, take Milano. Do the assig

Great Examples, Do you HW and study(unlike most) and you will do fine. If you don't get A's in her class it is your own Fault. I would take her again if she taught anything else.
Very clear in her explainations. Her notes are very neat so its easy understand. A really good professor for the class. Ended up with an A purely because she's a great professor
she is a good prof. tons of available stuff on webct to study from but sometimes it feels like she wants people to do poorly. no sympathy and can be uptight but at least she knows what shes talking about.
This class is HARD HARD HARD! However, she gives you alot of stuff to help you study from. Like someone already said, she doesn't seem to have any sympathy at all for anyone and it does look as if she wants you to fail. Good teacher, but horrible human being.
She dropped the ball this time around. The method of giving hand outs and reading off of slides didn't work for me. She got confused a lot, and was never really sure what was due/going on. She was good in statics but I don't know what happened here.
She's really good at explaining things and helping you individually. She also kinda gives you that much-needed kick in the pants to do your work and improve. However, she's borderline cruel and sadistic when it comes to her attitude and her personality surely need alot of tweaking. Self-proclaimed "hard-a$$".
Shes very arrogant, & sometimes rude. comes off like shes better than everyone else. Often gets confused about whats due, the format, how she wants it done. barely followed the syllabus. its a LOT of work piled on @ once and she tends 2 let u kno last minute, not always easy to talk 2 either, but u will walk away knowing a lot more. Take a chance
She is a total HARD ASS and has no problem getting on your case if you are doing poorly. She knows exactly what she is talking about definatly take her if you are looking to learn something but if you are an idiot dont take her
Wow.. what can I say? She is mean and hard, so hard you will want to drop the class after the first exam. I learned nothing with her, and the tutors for the class can not be understood. I can not believe no one else teaches this class except for her & Golub. Doesnt care, puts you on the spot, picks on you and fails you if you get less than a 70.
She gives out lots examples. if you study all the examples you can do alrite. You have to do things her way or you pretty much fail. If you ask for help she will help you but you have to make sure you email her before class or she wont help you at all. But other than that shes not too bad you just have to get used to her.
Shes not mean shes just very professional. Explains things very very well, and hand writing is amazing. Will help you with anything if you e-mail her. Gets a bum rap from lazy students. do the hw her way, u will learn/do well. And she isn't that strict on attendance. Best thing is she lays out a step by step process on how to do every kind of prob
awesome professor, she is gonna teach this in spring 10,im taking this class so take it with me too...it is going to be a wonderful class.
Don't think you're going to just skate by in her class. She's going to make sure you know your stuff and has no problem roasting the class if their doing anything poorly. It's her way or the highway but you learn to just tolerate her. Gives many many examples so you're more than well prepared.
She's great. If you take the class seriously, you WILL be prepared. If you want to get A's on the exams, DO THE EXAMPLE PROBLEMS and old exam problems she gives out and make sure you understand them. And make sure you honestly do the hwk. Copying will get you nowhere especially when hwk isn't worth that big of a percentage in your grade. PRACTICE!
I have taken statics once prior to her class. After taking it with her, I felt like I can write a statics textbook. Milano is the best statics professor I ever had. Her explanation of problems is so well thought out. If you do the homework and follow her examples, you will get an A. She also has great tutors to help in case you are stuck on the hw.
She teachers very well and explains pretty much everything. Got a 100 on all three of her exams and was exempt from her final
Avoid her. She loves and enjoys failing student. She thinks she knows everything.
she gives a lot of work but if you do it, you will know the tests upside-down and backward. she is very no-nonsense. be polite, be formal, and she'll give you all the help you could ever ask for.
She is one of the hardest professors I have taken but at the same time one of the best. Her lectures are informative, clear, and done at a good pace. She takes the hardest subjects and breaks them down really well. Yes, she is tough. But she gives you everything you need to pass this course. Great Professor. Her handouts are the best!
She is a great teacher! but she has an attitude. She is clear and explains everything you need to know in a great way but she is very strict. Overall her attitude and strictness doesn't matter considering she teaches very well.
She's a great teacher, a little too real sometimes though. Just pay attention, take notes, read the book and you're fine. Exams are based on problems already done so just know the material well and the exams are doable.
I genuinely dislike Milano after taking her for MECH234. She was always moody and disrespectful to students and rarely answered questions. She acts as if the class is a burden to her and you can tell she doesn't want to be there. Yells at you if you make any mistake on the exam and just has a negative tone in her voice all the time. Avoid
She knows the material well. If you pay attention and practice book problems you will do well. However she switches between being nice and a real jerk very quickly. Will not compromise her way and will pick on you in front of others. She is forgetful half the time and did not even teach the last sections but put them on final. Stressful class.
Please avoid taking the hybrid course you will literally learn nothing. Milano's lectures are very confusing as she over complicates simple 5 minutes problems. She doesn't prepare you very well for exams and doesn't review either.
Rude and a doesn't take out much time for questions. Goes very fast.
She is tough because she wants you to learn the material, If you treat her good, she will treat you better. I you want to really LEARN the material you should take her. A lot of work tho. Exams are based on hw and exercises done in class.
Good teacher and you will learn the material but not a nice person at all and I would not take her class ever again
Very rude, hard to deal with, 50% quizes, 25% midterm and 25% final. You do the hw in order to not loose points on the quizzes. Avoid her if you can!
If you dont match her format exactly for homework, you lose points. Also, her grading is legitimately awful. Its 50% for quizzes, 50% for final and midterm, with no homework grade. For my class, every homework PROBLEM you dont submit correctly is around 1% off your final grade, according to what she told me. Her full grading rubric isnt online.
Avoid !! There are weekly quizzes throughout the whole semester and the average of all the quizzes is 50% of your final grade which is a ludicrous amount. Your midterm is worth 25% and your final is also worth 25%. Homework is assigned weekly and is worth no credit, but if it is not done you lose points from quizzes. Also she is very intimidating.
Really wants to learn and understand the material not just copy the solutions from a manual. Really cares about her students. She gives a lot of examples and enough work for the final. Can be mean times but really nice when you talk to her personally. If you pay attention in class and do the homework, then you'll get an A easily.
i dont even know how she's still there, very arrogant and will intimidate you if you ask a question, and that's not why i pay tuition. If you like the subject then get ready to hate it, get prepared for weekly quizzes which is great conceptually because you're forced to learn the material but its just terrible with her as a professor.
Professor Milano is a very good professor who is able to clearly explain each and every example. She does many in class. Although she can be sassy and intimidating, she is helpful when you need help and is not a devil as portrayed some earlier reviews. She is a tough grader but will be forgiving if you know what you are doing.
Prof. Milano is undoubtedly one of the best professors at NJIT. She's respected, knowledgeable and concise. Her lectures are detailed and teaches you how to think and approach the problem. She prepares you for exams and also demands that you become proficient, she doesn't expect foolishness. Make sure you approach her and let her now who you are.
Professor Milano is an excellent professor who explains the concepts very well. She is very thorough and has a lot of examples on her website. She's nice sometimes and can be quite a character at certain points during the class. I suggest to read the book and do extra problems for the exams.
Having taken both professors available for 237, they give the same quality/quantity of work. If you thrive with constructive criticism AND passed statics without chegg, take Milano. OTHERWISE STAY AWAY! The cold hard facts.
Explains concepts very well. Stays in office hours longer than usual if needed. Does what she can to help students understand.
She gives a ton of HW. Usually I dont mind HW because its good preparation for the exams. However... the HW problems have absolutely nothing to do with whats on the test. If anything use the HW as a guideline of what not to study. She puts variations of her class examples on the tests so try to study that. The HW is pointless.
Super arrogant; She explains concepts EXTREMELY well but never finishes an example problem. Her exams are 3-4 questions and tricky; she will, however, let you know what types of problems are on the exam. Labs are NOT a joke to her; prepare to go from preschool to Ivy League in terms of writing labs (mandatory part of passing the class).
VERY ARROGANT. she gives very hard exams and she makes the course more harder than it is. she will take off points if you didn't show your work the way she wants it to be. so if you answered the problem in a diff way and got the right answer she will still take off points for not showing it by the way she taught it. good luck
Apparently if you go to her she'll let you retake an exam. I was sick and got a 40 on the first exam. Then got an 85 and a 90 on the last 2 exams. I should have a B+ but will instead get a C. I didn't know until later that she let other students retake exams. Just wanted to put this out there for future students to be aware of. Not fair but oh well
Milano would be a great professor if she weren't so mean. She is a good teacher, and her exam problems are either very similar or directly from her moodle examples. However, she's very rude to students and criticizes anyone that asks a simple question. Best advice: don't speak or ask questions and do lots of examples and you'll pass
The worst professor ever I had in my whole life . She is so rude . She doesnt help at all. Easy to fail in her class . 3 long problem in the exam and that count 60 percent only for the midterm . Tough grader . Does not want student to pass .
Had no issues with her as a professor. Weekly quizzes can seem stressful but really allow you to focus on studying for one topic. They were never that hard after the first 2-3 weeks. Arguably goes too in depth with the lectures but you get everything you need to know. The labs can be a pain but our TA dropped the lowest grade.
DO NOT TAKE
Best and brilliant professor. NJIT couldn't have a better prof then her. Care so much for students to be a better engineer, dont mistake her toughness for her rudeness. DO Homework by yourself and dont use chegg, trust me it helps a lot. pay attention in class and study for quiz (quiz every week, worth 50% of total grade). Every quiz is important.
While she is knowledgeable as a professor and it is possible to learn the information, the distasteful and condescending attitude really ruins the whole experience. Try not to raise your hand in class if possible if you have her.
Unnecessarily rude and condescending to students. I purposely avoided her for strengths after the nightmare I endured with her for statics. Not anymore or less knowledgeable than any other professor teaching mechanics courses at NJIT. She just hopes that students conflate her arrogance for expertise.
Milano gets a bad rep because students don't prepare for exams, so they do bad. However, she really is one of the best professors at NJIT because she teaches students everything they need in order to succeed on not only for ME 234 but for ME237 and the FE exam. Just don't don't skip class and put in the extra effort on truly understanding the HW!
Milano is the most savage professor I have had. In class she poses this tough exterior but one on one she is very approachable. Her tests are a combination of homework and work sheet problems. PRINT EVERYTHING ON CANVAS. Sometimes she doesn't collect homework, but if you don't do it (honestly) you will miss out on a lot of practice. Savage 10/10
She is a horrible person, does not have any feelings towards students. She keeps on doing examples on board but never teaches the concept. She tries to teach concepts while doing the problems but sometimes it does not help. Very unorganized. If possible take it in county college. She has no mercy while grading exams. Be careful about - and + sign.
She is rude and a harsh grader. She grades with emotion so if she ends up mad that day expect her to give you very little half credit. Try and take someone else if possible. Her teaching method is not as good as everyone says and I am doing good in her class. I did a lot of self teaching.
While she is very strict she is the only mech professor Ive had who knows how to teach the material and will help you after class with any questions. Doesnt care about the final answer as long as your procedures and theory are correct.
Honestly one of my favorite profs so far at NJIT and one of the only ones who really is able to clearly communicate the content and make it easily understandable. Dont know why people complain and would love to see how they do in other classes because this is easy compared to most. Yeah she can be sarcastic but it makes things interesting.
I failed first time I took it, but it was my fault that I didnt work hard, to pass her class you need to work hard and do lots of problems. Her exam are so hard, she loves to trick you with geometry and her grading is so strict, in final exam if you forget - sign then 8-10 pts off. Her teaching is organized than other Njit professor in mech dept.
Incompetent and has a nasty attitude. Frequently makes excuses for herself but will say "not my problem" or "not my job" when other students have problems. Snaps at students and is lazy with grading work.
Pros: She knows how to teach the material in a clear and concise matter. If you sit down, pay attention, do all the HW, and actually study twice a week that should be enough. Her Quizzes are very similar to the HW, her exams are not difficult. Cons: She sucks are replying to emails, online experience make the lab portion of this class horrible
She is one of the best yet worst professors at NJIT. Her teaching methods are amazing and she does help you learn the material very well. However she is very entitled and does not understand that students have circumstances. If she has a problem with a student, she punishes the whole class with more work.
do your work and you'll pass. old resources are definitely a help. she tends to be a little unapproachable if you ask "dumb" questions but who cares if you have to hear it from her. shes been a prof at this school longer then you were alive so shes been employed this long for a reason
The most real professor you will ever have at NJIT. She will give it to you straight. I had to retake her course twice but I learned my lesson. Overall very knowledgeable and has been teaching here for many years.
Absolutely worst Professor ever. She has a nasty attitude and literally told me to drop instead of encouragement. She didnt bother answering when asked for help and is rude to students. She assumes people are cheating because we all followed the steps that she showed! Do not take!
Knows the subject well enough to where she could be a good professor but is the exact opposite. Has very messy handwriting so copying notes and going over them is very difficult. Does not answer questions from students and answers in a way that you feel stupid even trying to ask and just end up confused with no help.
Ill be honest, shes not a good professor 4/10 but thanks to her I not only understand the subject but it makes my future classes easier. So she might be rude and tough and she will fail you if you dont do study, she will embed the material in your head.
she just has a bad rap because she will call people out in class for being on their phone etc. or call people out for not studying the material. But when it comes to teaching I have to say she is super good at explaining problems, only in person tho online it is a lot harder to understand the problems that she goes thru that are pre-completed
I know many students dislike her for her attitude but her job is to teach. She does that very well. She is not easy but you will learn and understand the material which will make you better in future classes. If you slack off she will treat you as such. Took her for 234 and 237. Uses problems from textbook with worked out neat solutions.
Her class is fairly straighfoward, she is just unnecessarily rude to her students and has a horrible attitude. She makes her students feel stupid and often puts them down. I got in A in her course because I worked hard on my own, but I truly despise the way she talks to and unteracts with her students. Very rude.
All the reviews are right, she is extremely rude. However, she teaches very well and tells you what will be on the exam so you know what yo study.
She is very rude but she teaches very very well. If you just pay attention you will do well as its just a continuation from PHYS 121.
I do not recommend her as a professor for not only the class I have taken, but any class. She does not give any partial credit on tests. I once asked her a question about the chapters for the test we had and she proceeded to waste 15 minutes of class time to complain about a question that can be answered with 2 simple words.
she's the worst professor at NJIT to date, she's very rude she called her students rude, lazy, and stupid. She will make you hate ME and the course. I don't recommend you taking her for this class or any class in general. She is the WORST and I would take the courses she teaches at another university or at a county college. AVOID her at all cost.
This lady single-handedly made me question my decision to go to NJIT. She is incredibly difficult no matter how much you study. No sympathy at all and she throws Fs and Ds like there hot dogs on Fourth of July
I honestly have a genuine dislike (trying to remain PG) for this lady. She wants people to break, and give up. Almost changed my major cause of her but no way would I let this bitter lady do that to me.
Other reviews are correct. Shes pretty mean depending on the day. Grades emotionally sometimes. That said, she explains things REALLY WELL. You will learn more from her than other professors but boy will you have to bust your a** for a B. Nice lady outside of class but condescending during lecture. Cares about her students success but not worth it
Teaches really well but shes kind of mean for no reason. Shes a little emotional and grading depends on her mood. Some days shes a great, caring professor and the next day shes complaining for half the lecture. You'll learn a lot but shes the type to make an easy subject more difficult for the sake of making things difficult. Great storyteller tho
If you're taking 237 take anyone other than her. Very emotional when it comes to grading and gives a huge hassle on when you can submit homework. Very disrespectful to students as well and will degrade you if you ask questions especially a previous lecture. Harsh grading as well when it comes to your lab first two labs and exams in general.
Professor Milano makes sure that the class is doing well. If you do the homework on time and listen during class, you'll be fine. Make sure to complete the practice problems on the syllabus, you'll thank yourself later. She can be a tough grader, but it's all to help you improve. Be sure to pay attention during lectures, or she will call you out.
She is very tough to deal with, she makes the course harder than it should, she would make you hate the course and the major too. I wouldn't take her, take anyone else but her if you want to pass the course.
Had to take this class a few times & always bummed me out that she was the only professor. She isnt nice at all & very sarcastic & will tell you to read the textbook if she doesnt teach something in class. She will also put this material on the exams even if she didnt teach it. Please be ready to teach yourself lots of examples to pass this course
Take this course with another proffessor, gives a quiz every class. Canvas page is a mess and re-used from prior format. Posted notes are to messy to follow
Despite her tough demeanor, she's guiding you for future classes. Review her lectures & canvas notes, uncollected hw problems, and textbook exercises. Choose a competent lab group to avoid unproductive peers, as the reports can be long and tedious. The initial 2 lab reports are rigorously graded by her, as she has specific report expectations.
Let me tell you something, when I took her class it was extremely hard. Now I am not a type of student who gets straight As but just barely pass by. Taking her class changed the way I thought and changed the way I studied. I graduated with an extremely good job. Just sharing this with all the people who hate her. She does it you for your own good!
Prof. Milano is very knowledgeable of the material, but at times she can come off as snarky if you ask her a seemingly obvious question. However, she is very clear about the assignments and gives opportunities for extra credit. She also provides detailed notes for example problems. The lab is alright, not too difficult.
she is a unique professor. She is very knowledgeable about the material and explains it very well. However, she talks down to you, is sarcastic, and makes students very hesitant to ask a question. I felt like she explained the material better than anyone, but because of her attitude, nothing ever tends to stick. As soon as I Ieave class im clueless
Milano is the best professor I have taken at njit. She tells you exactly what's going to be on the exam and if you have questions she will go out of her way to answer them. Just email her don't be scared. She comes off as a little brutal but she just wants you to learn the easiest way to do things.
Great professor, I feel like she made the material very clear and was a great help when I had questions. A little blunt, but she truly wants you to learn and you can tell she wants to help everyone pass.
she is very smooth and knowledgeable of the material. she is very clear about the assignments, and quizzes/exams are not challenging at all and gives opportunities for extra credit. She also provides detailed notes for example problem which helps so much with studying.
For MECH234 she is by far the best choice, the only other choice is prof Saadeghvaziri , he is the worst prof at NJIT. she is very very rude, however she is very good at explaining the content. make sure to study all the hw problems, the examples she does in class, and some of the recitation problems she posts online when preparing for exams.
She's a great professor who is sarcastic and might make you feel dumb for asking certain questions. You understand the material she teaches and she gives good practice problems for the exam. Just don't forget to read the syllabus...
Prof. Milano can be a tough but fair grader. Definitely do the readings, attend lectures, and use Unstuck AI for extra practice - it really helps with the challenging material. The class is doable with effort.
Gives great amount of partial credit on exams and has a lot of resources on Canvas. Definitely do your hw and the canvas problems. She's very hard to talk to in and is always sarcastic in person, but is really nice online. Someone asked her a yes or no question and she just started laughing, like huh???
Milano is unique. She is a tough grader but wants you to succeed. Keep in mind that if your lab partner plagiarizes, she will send all members to the Dean. She's strict but outside of class, she is very caring and easy to talk to. She has good ref material on canvas. She is a very high quality professor, but you will be challenged
This is the teacher you take if you want to reconsider your major
very rude and defensive
Pros: The tests aren't bad, they're usually similar to or the same as questions she has posted in the canvas. She's also very clear on why you get the grades you did Cons: Rude. If you do poorly on a lab or exam, she sprinkles in backhanded comments. She posts homework assignments last second. As I'm typing this, she posted homework due tonight
If you ever wanted to meet a Pf that shows you why your not fit for engineering, and why you should re-consider ME. Then take her, she's good at explaining the material it's pretty straight forward u just got to put the practice time in and review the notes HEAVILY!!! I can't express that enough. Put all your effort in the first LAB she grades it
She treats you like your already a ME u just got to start acting like it which doesn't make sense for undergrads smh. First LAB report is graded heavily by her u wont get feedback until after the due date of the 2nd report and the highest grade in my LAB was 67 for the 1st report. The rest is graded by the TA, do not PLAGERISE at all.
She is a terrible professor more than half my class had to drop it bec she does not teach. First lecture you may think she is alright wrong. Blames everything on the student and only goes over solutions to questions not actually going through the problem. Also will berate you if you do a diff method she just always wants last word.
Unfortunately I had to come and write a negative review. She is rude to her students and get extremely defensive if someone calls her out on a mistake. Speaking with shows she cares more about her image by her peers than she does about her students and their needs. The work is manageable but her personality makes it impossible to enjoy the class
I wish tenure didn't exist. Your lectures with Milano consist of a 3-hour rambling lecture. She doesn't care that more than half of her students this semester are failing their commons. No curves, no retakes. You cannot blame the students for a lack of effort if most people fail. NJIT needs more competent professors.
She isn't that bad, you can kind of see the sarcasm but she's pretty chill for the most part. Exams are pretty light just make sure you do her recitation problems and HW problems. Her grading in exams is very good she writes/scribbles what you did wrong she gives a ton of partial points make sure you guys round during exams. I think she's great.
