Good teacher. Knew what he was teaching inside out. His class is kind of boring but what do you expect from a class named Organizational Behaviour? He's very educated and his class got more interesting towards the end as students got to know him better.
He has an extreme attitude problem. He needs to get over himself - he is not all that and more! However, he does undeniably know his subject matter. You don't like him any better though when he starts class off with you repeating his name with hand actions - needs to be told we are not 4 years old.
In one word, OUCH! He's a terrible prof. He doesn't have the slighest concern for his students (you can tell he doesn't want to be in class talking to us), he mumbles to himself through most of the class, and shows you pitiful videos in class (that he tests horribly on the final and midterm). Wording on exams is meant to confuse you... Ahhh!

I don't understand why everyone thinks ill of this prof... he his undoubtedly one of the dopest professors I have had @ U of O. He is fair, helpful, clear, diplomatic, realistic, insightful and reasonable. It's HRM people, nothing to have a baby over.
Hard marker - don't expect to get higher than a C or B-, no matter how good you are. He is fair on class decisions, but will not adjust course requirements or test questions in spite of requests. If you only take night courses, you're stuck w/him - he teaches several required prog courses and is the only option for nights.
Good class, good quality of teaching. This guy is possibly the smartest guy I have ever met in my life, you'll see if you take his class.
He is an amazing professor. I can understand why some people would criticize him; but he is undoubtedly very good at presenting the material effectively and efficiently. If you attended class, all you had to do is listen to his main focus in the class and you could be sure to find that topic on the midterm. Definitely two thumbs up!!
Made the cases too much work but marked them easily. Weak prep for the midterm and final, rarely made us stay the full 3 hours or anywhere close which was detrimental to learning the subject matter. Funny sense of humour, doesn't smile much, you can tell he's smart, always seems tired.
omg. lectures are useless. spends too much time on activities with groups. no preparation or description on exams. makes them NEEDLESSLY difficult. easy marker for cases and assignement though. but be prepared to be surprised on the exam! his lameness killed a perfectly good HR course :(
Pretty interesting guy; has lots of funny stories and overall is a good prof. Maybe a little unapproachable though; I was intimidated by him. He is a bit unclear when it comes to what he wanted on the cases. The exams are hard: midterm is all definitions, short answer and case, and final is 100 M/C.
Interesting and knowledgeable professor. You have to read your ass off for this class if you want to do well in the midterm and final but the exams are fair and not tricky. I did not like the fact that the cases were due the next day but after doing a few you get used to it. He only gives hints when answering questions to make you think I guess.
The worst teacher I have ever had !
Not a great teacher. A sincerely nice guy and an excellent speaker but he just cannot make boring material interesting. Loves to trick you on exams. Will tell you about optional extra classwork and then test you on them!! Not cool. If he shows videos he will test you on them for sure. Groups work is terrible and pointless.
His lectures where easy to follow, the way he spoke encouraged you to listen and not do other things, his slides were easy to follow and his midterms are easier than most of the other ADM1300 professors. I really enjoyed his class very clear
He was not very helpful at all when it came to answering questions about what he wanted for cases. Midterm was marked pretty easily but final exam was awful, we started writing 30 minutes late and the 100 m/c were hardly related to the overall course content. Very disappointing professor, avoid if you can!
Low talker with very little classroom authority. Makes you do useless classroom exercises and cannot follow through with promises of guest speakers.
The most boring prof ever... his midterm was easy as hell but the final was the hardest thing ever it was mostly about videos he showed and random stuff he says in class... avoid if possible he likes to trick his students and make things complicated
Somewhat boring and for a 3 hour class that is not something you want. The midterm and assignment was easy but the final had a lot of questions that asked about videos he had shown us in class weeks ago, not exactly fair in my opinion.
Boring lecturer, hard to take lecture notes because his talk is inconsistent. His midterm was easy but he is an unfair marker when it comes to the assignment. The final exam was nothing from the book, it was based on videos he shows in class and examples/stories he says during the lecture - unfair. He gives off an arrogant vibe when approached.
Midterm was easy but final exam was pure trash!! Most of it was questions that were based on class examples and the short clips he had us watch. Boring class; monotone voice.
boring and unhelpful. Avoid!
Most inconsistent marking ever. Avoid him. Tests on material mentioned in class
Honestly not that hard to get a good mark in his class if you p.t the effort out (go to class and read the book). Discussion group presentations are difficult but just be relaxed and enthusiastic. Content is quite boring and long at times. Overall not a bad 1st year course and nothing to be worried about.
Good teacher, tells you everything you need to know and them some (this can be goodbad) . Assignments are very easily marked, midterms are fair. I have to take this course and I found the subject material drop-dead boring, but this guys is actually a great teacher.
Lectures are boring and useless... Reads off the slides, very monotone and not engaging at all. AVOID
Nice guy but extremely monotonous and just reads the slides all lecture (which are filled with text). He doesn't convey the material well but you can tell he cares enough about it.
Prof isn't entertaining during lectures: reads off PowerPoints with a monotonous tone. Several group projects (presentations) to do. He said that the final would require knowing the material of all videos he showed. However, no questions were based off videos at all. It was a total waste of time to study videos. Just memorize slides.
He is a bit not very nice overall. But, he teaches material in a clear way, and the exams are just easy.
Really boring professor, monotone and uninteresting. He makes no references to any textbooks and presents relatively irrelevant material. Assignments and exams DO NOT reflect core course material at all. There was poor feedback on all assignments and evaluations. Slide shows were his life and the class puts you to sleep.
Most disorganized prof I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. Very unclear with instructions.
Easily the worst prof I've had at uOttawa. His lectures are boring and all he does is read off slides. To top it off he doesn't respond to emails. When questions are asked for clarification, he responds in a rude and unhelpful way.
He hardly kept my attention for my than 5 minutes this entire semester. End of story.
Everything is about group work during the semester then the exam is about content that he barely focused on. When he does teach, he just reads the slides then ends the class with a pointless exercise for attendance marks.
Just do yourself a favor and switch out of his class before it's too late. He is so self absorbed you can feel it when he talks, he never says anything useful in class, infact he wastes class time with pointless videos. This combined with the dry course material makes this class a living hell, have fun!
I have taken 2 classes with this prof, I think he is great. Read textbook before class, lectures are boring but try to pay attention. He reads off slides, but he will quiz you on in class examples not given in slides. Go to his office hours if you need help, he wants students to do well. Tests are easy, marking on assignments is clear.
Boring class, but he is truly passionate about what he teaches and he really wants his students to do well. Make sure to go see him during office hours, he is always happy to help. Definitely recommend him!
I had this professor last year and did not find him to be a very helpful teacher. His comments in class can be snarky depending on his mood and his explanation of assignments is ambiguous at best.
Best prof I've ever had. He really cares about his students and he teaches the material with enthusiasm. His monotonous voice might put you to sleep but if you read the book, you'll be fine. Read his slides thoroughly and take notes of important names that are in the textbook.
I'm surprised that this prof has bad reviews.. His class was the best class ever, super straight forward. Honestly, you just gotta study and you're good. No tricks, crystal clear. Exams are superrrr fair. If you miss class at times its okay cuz exams are based on textbook, and his slides are based on the textbook too. He's a good prof.
Pros - You don't need to go to class - Exams are straight forward - All content is given to you Cons - Individual project - Discussion groups - He often is too slow or fast, organizing notes is hard Class was basic, but also very boring. Slides DO NOT match chapters. Do end of chapter reviews in textbook to ace exams. Read. Text. Book.
Not sure why he's rated so low, he's a good prof and you can tell he cares about what he's teaching and seems willing to help his students. My only complaint is that his lectures are a little slow, it takes him a while to get through the slides.
While the prof is a nice person, his lectures are very scattered and difficult to understand. He mumbles and goes on tangent frequently, which makes him very difficult to understand. Also, his final examination was very difficult as subjects that were glossed over in class made up important sections of the exam.
Very boring lectures. He is too monotone to get interested in, but is a very nice guy when it comes to extensions or questions. Midterm was exactly what you would expect, however the exam was a curveball and involved many topics that were quickly glossed over in class. Be careful if you have him as your prof and study hard from his slides.
He's lectures can be boring at times because of his monotone voice. But you can tell he wants the class to learn and his exams are relatively fair if you study everything not just the key components talked about in class.
Average prof, a little bit of a monotone voice but seems interested in the subject. Not too hard to get a decent grade
Not the best prof I've had. Very dry, reads off slides and lectures feel long.
Very boring, impossible to stay engaged during his lectures, especially three hour ones. Unfortunate that he is one of the Prof's for such an important first year Commerce course, definitely don't recommend.
exams are too hard
Not nearly as bad as everyone says in my opinion. Yes you have to work in this class but that is the nature of the course, not the prof. Found the midterm and final both fair. Found both exams to be based more on his slides than the textbook. Lectures can be dry, but again, I think this is more due to the nature of the course than the Prof.
Although he may be one of the most attractive professors I have had so far, it does not distract me from the heavy lectures and unfair exams taken having him as my professor throughout this course. He was unable to answer some of the questions I had and personally I did not enjoy his lecture heavy teaching style which was derived from the textbook.
Absolutely dreaded coming to his class. Honestly just read the book at home or study the slides because there is no use in coming to his classes apart from feeling good that you actually got up and went to class. Very rude whenever asked questions outside of class. For the sake of actually enjoying ADM1300, just switch. You will not enjoy the class
Terrible lecturer, extremely unfair and tough on grading, and does not effectively prepare you for exams. He does not prepare for his lectures, and often resorts to showing irrelevant videos in class. Do yourself a favour and avoid his class at all costs.
Boring lectures and easy group projects. However, 80% of the exam was about in-class videos or guest speakers. Would only recommend if you're ready to transcribe every video and speaker to get an A.
One of the worst profs I've had in university. Long and boring lectures, tough exams.
Good prof, but really boring lectures.
He marks hard for long answer questions, make sure you include every thing and more that the question asks, or you might get zero!!!
Just do yourself a favour and switch out
Decent guy but terrible prof
He is an over-educated and smarmy. He marks looking for extremely specific answers on extremely broad questions. He says at the beginning of the course, if you don't like me drop the course, unfortunately I couldn't as his class was the only one that fit in my schedule.
He had no idearrr what he was talking about, still a beauty though
Nice prof. Would take again
One of the best Professors i have had to date. I don't know what everyone is talking about, lol. He is clear with what he expects from us and the midterm and assignments reflect such. Also, he is one of the best lecturer i have ever had, wow, so clear and precise with what information he wants you to know.
Decent prof. Average lectures. Make sure your test answers are detailed but the concepts are rather simple. Would take a class with him again but probably not my first choice. Overall average.
Great Lectures. Very knowledgeable, encourages discussion and makes you dig deep to make sure you really know what you're talking about. Grading on tests is tough but fair. You'll come out of the course with concrete, applicable knowledge if you apply yourself. If you're gonna try to just wing it in his class, good luck.
He talks slow so it is easy for students to adapt and teaches from the textbook. He even encourages us to use notes from websites such as coursehero and studocu. An real gem, very honest but do not make him angry because if you take too long to form groups he gives you less time to do the case study.
Such a kind prof! His midterm was super easy and represented the course accurately. The online textbook is super useful in this course, read it and you will pass!
My favourite professor at uOttawa!! His midterm was really easy and his lectures are interesting and engaging. I'm definitely planning to take another course with him again in the future. Listen in class and read the textbook and you'll get good grades
Teacher is cool, but class are boring.. you can skip them and work from the textbook and it will be fine. Final was not fair, had 15 chapter to memorize by heart.. get ready to work if you're registered in this class
A sweet guy. The class itself is pretty boring. He knows what he's teaching, which is good. Lectures are a very short summary of the textbook chapter, so make sure to reach all "prescribed" chapters for a deeper understanding of the course material.
Great prof! Before the midterm he held an optional review session that was extremely helpful. The midterm and final exam were both fair, and as long as you studied you would do well. However, external content, such as guest speakers, were on both exams.
Great prof! Really interesting lectures, you can really tell he's passionate about what he teaches. The subject itself can be a bit boring if you don't find it interesting.
Great prof! Exams/midterms were extremely fair and straightforward - all memorization in this class.
Really nice prof, his midterms are terrible and inconsistent with the other sections. He made my sections midterm much harder than the other classes. In addition to this, the grading is tough. DO NOT TAKE HIS COURSE!
Thumbs down
He is the worst prof I've had so far. The way he delivers information is so dry. If you follow him for the entire lecture you would fall asleep. He also asks "is anybody with me" for about 30 times in a three-hour lecture. He is very slow so we were so left behind from the syllabus and we needed to learn materials on our own. The midterm was fair.
His lectures were not engaging and were 3 hours long. We were oftentimes behind in material because he tends to speak about other topics that are unrelated to the material we were being graded on. The textbook and his slides got me through the course and I would strongly recommend doing the same.
Right now, you're thinking "he's rated 2.0 how bad could it be?" It's that bad. Don't do it. Among other things, prof. Braithwaite has: threatened students with legal action, created an announcement saying that asking for revisions is just "fishing" for grades, changed the exam 2 days before, released lectures during the finals period. Don't do it.
Well, he's a fairly chill guy, would say he could work on spicing up his lectures by trying not to go on tangents that leave students like me a bit lost. On the other hand, he was fairly considerate this semester regarding the coronavirus and eased up things, which I can appreciate.
Attendance is graded, so mandatory. His lectures were disorganised, lots of talking and lost time. His TAs were slow to grade papers. Will have to buy 100$ platform for a book worth 40$ (which can only be bought THROUGH the platform) His lectures are EXACTLY the book, so you can pass this class by reading it on your own.
Professor Sturgeon is a very jolly and nice man but his teaching and use of time is not very effective. His lectures are not organized and not prepared as well. Make sure to take notes on videos he shows in class because it shows up on the tests. There was only one test and it was easy(mostly from slides and online flashcards). Exam was tough.
Avoid him at all costs. For someone who supposedly has 6+ degrees, he is extremely unprofessional and does not care for his students. I had a situation where I didn't feel comfortable being in class because of another student and he did not accommodate me and I had to deal with it myself. I missed questions on the midterm because of this. Avoid him
DON'T TAKE HIM, RUN! He is not organized. lectures are boring and confusing, he does not focus on important points, gives very vague explanations. He gave us instructions on a huge assignment (15 pages, individual case) only a week before the due date, during the midterms period. Everyone rushed. Also, he takes so long before giving back your grade
Terrible prof. The rudest professor I've ever had, makes confusing and many mistakes and instead of owning to them he screws over his students to cover his ass with the school. Takes forever to explain one thing and does not explain his expectations thoroughly. Do what you can to avoid this professor as he holds a god complex in the classroom.
Doesn't give clear criteria or tells us what to study for. Only 1 individual case study and the DGD has 3 group case studies w/ presentations. Textbook is useless because its basically his slides and the other textbook is for the DGD (cases are in it). Don't have to show up to class, you can try and learn on your own and DGD are mandatory.
His midterms make no sense and he gives zero feedback for group projects. Avoid him at all costs.
Let's just say that his open book exam average was at around 60%, Also when people ask him questions that are on the syllabus or are kind of obvious, he calls them out in a rude manner. His lectures are dry and I only attended for the participation mark and barely learned anything.
Very dry and snarky professor, his lectures are hard to sit through as he takes too long to explain a single concept.
Open book class average was 60%. Lectures are hard to sit through.
By far the worst professor I've had in university so far. VERY snarky and rude to students. Lectures are very dry and mark extremely hard.
Needs to change course structure. Almost every student I've talked to found the exam ridiculously long. Even exams for math and econ were more manageable. The prof made everything so complicated, so many small annoying projects, boring lectures and was rude to students. Made us write 5 essays on top of 40 m/c for the exam.
Some criticism about the course: There are way too many assignments in ADM1300 : Biweekly decisions on a Praxar simulation, two quizzes, 2 large group assignments; one of which only counts for 4% of your grade, peer evals. The professor wasn't that helpful in responding to questions either, and was not patient with students. Exam was way too hard.
Very passive aggressive, Dry teacher would recommend if you read of the manual very hard to listen in a 3hrs class with him
He is the ridiculous prof that I've met. He tried his best to show off how many degrees he had obtained (most are little valuable). "I prefer to get a degree if I want to learn something," says Brathwaite-Sturgeon. He always thinks of himself as humous, but many of his statements were embarrassing. Helpless and dry lecturing, trivial assignments.
I wish he gave midterms because now I have no idea what to expect for the final. His lectures are soo boring and feel like you're not even learning any content. There are 2 big projects rather than midterms. Which I don't like. If I were you, I'd pick another prof.
his lectures are a mess! it feels like he isn't teaching any! and his assignments were trash. AND THE EXAM WAS DISGUSTING ! all of the questions were examples he talked about in class that aren't explained on the slides! avoid at all costs, the exam was truly brutal
Sturgeon seems to enjoy being as vague as possible. Lectures were really boring but the class wasn't too difficult. Know where things are in the textbook and the tests aren't that bad.
This guys a joke Its not normal for a 1st year class to have TWO 20 page essays which he grades pretty strict (you immediately lose 15%if your citations are not proper); has a final exam but no midterms, idk how tf Im supposed to study since I have no clue what to expect and his lectures are useless and vague
He is a great prof, not the best but he is one of the good ones. This course is graded by the DGD, a simulation, 1 midterm (open book), skills learning and the final exam (open book). His lectures arent too bad and he respects all of his students. If you have any questions he will stay after the class to answer them.
This prof is an okay teacher. The quizzes were very hard to do. The feedbacks on all the participation assignments and the case study was very clear. This prof is ok.
His lectures are interesting and engaging. Professor Gerard is very straightforward and genuine. Bad ratings are probably a result of students not participating or caring about the class. If you participate and do the work asked getting a good grade is easy. There is work to do but the professor is very straightforward on what you need to do.
Honestly such a bad prof. He is very passive aggressive and does not explain well AT ALL. His exam questions were awful (I have no idea where he came up with some of them). Make sure you read the text book very well. He would always side track or be mad when anyone asks questions. Dont take this class if you dont need to!!
He's got a cool background and the classes were pretty interesting. Definitely a manageable class if you take the time to participate and read.
Attended every class & did all the readings. The TAs were not on-time or consistent but that's not his fault. Seemed he wanted to steer the grades towards a lower average with little communication on midterm. 15 pg case-study was a mark-booster. Passive-aggressive but adds in interesting content in lectures. 3hr night class - tough to focus/care.
Awful professor. Very arrogant, talks about himself for 60% of the lecture. Does not care about students one bit. Avoid this prof if you can. I would definitely never take a class with him again.
Do not take him, trust me.
Professor Brathwaite-Sturgeon has an interesting background, however, he comes off as rude and disrespectful to students who are simply trying to ask questions. It makes me feel uncomfortable to participate in class. He also has very difficult exams that students are not prepared for.
Midterm was horrible, it was based entirely on the textbook and a few videos he shared. I honestly wouldnt recommend but if you're stuck i'd advise read all the chapters covered in your textbook, class notes are useless, if you can remeber everything in your textbk you should be good, also there's a 15pg case study(not fun)
Makes the examinations way more difficult than necessary while also not caring about students success in the class.
This professor comes off as very passive-aggressive but the worst part is not the professor's teaching but the grading. The tests are beyond difficult for aN intro to business class. I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, YOU WILL REGRET IT!!
At the first lecture, he rambled about irrelevant topics. This made every lecture boring and hard to focus. He wasted a lot of valuable time and was very passive aggressive when I asked him clarification questions. Most questions on the midterm and final were very irrelevant to the course. Overall, do not take this professor.
lectures are pointless as he spends the entire time talking about life or himself. you are better off not going and reading the textbook on your own - it's long, but all you need to know is in there. his midterm was fair although the average was extremely low, but the final was much tougher than expected for a business course. get ready to read!
Seriously, the faculty should question this professor about why his class average is so low. This is an introductory business course yet he expects us to memorize rather than understand every concept, keyword, definition, and example mentioned in the textbook. When the test class average of 300 students is 53%, there is a course delivery problem.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Midterm and final questions were irrelevant to the course/material. Very rude when I asked him questions/made me feel stupid. Assignments were easy but not weighted heavily. For an intro to business class it should be easy but he went out of his way to make I difficult and it shows because the average was a 53%.
don't take this prof if you have the choice not to -- class average for the midterm was a 54%. he goes out of his way to bring confusing/tough questions. case study is a grade booster
I think that the professor was pretty average overall, and he didn't seem to be that available to help students outside of class. His exams are a good reflection of the course though and I didn't find the textbook to be that useful either, as his lectures/slides were a good summary of info in the textbook.
Extremely Passive Aggressive. Our class average for the midterm was pretty low which shouldn't be the case for an intro to business course. He made people feel dumb when they asked questions, which as a prof, why would you do that? This class was online which maybe contributed to how difficult it was for me. DGDs boosted my score, Avoid if you can,
He's not bad, however the exams are really hard as the class average for the midterm was 54%.
For context my class is a 7-10pm class so the lectures get very long. He does sometimes give 10 minute breaks after an hour and a half of lecturing. The course is not that bad, the discussion groups are mandatory and it is all group work.
Brathwaite-Sturgeon: subpar prof, unnecessarily difficult 101 course, drags on in lectures, abysmal people skills. Avoids emails, forces online forums for questions. Responds with consistent condescension and rudeness, creating a hostile learning environment. Needs a serious overhaul in teaching and interpersonal skills.
Prof. Gerard is an amazing Proffesor, his teaching is outstanding. He is also passive aggresive which makes him really funny. Definitly a pick!
I found him to be a great prof. That being said everyone is right when saying the tests are hard the class midterm average was 60%... The exams are also based equally on the textbook, and videos he posts throughout the semester (some are an hour or more long) that you are expected to watch on your own time and in-person lecture information.
Very boring lecture. Says the words "everybody with me" literally all the time to make sure you are awake. Case studies were easy marks. Midterm was okay, final was 100 MC. His slides are missing some key info so you might have to skim a textbook
Our mid-terms average was like a 60%, and the prof thought it was good to brag about it. He has no people skills and is condescending to anyone with a 'dumb question'. His lectures are boring and the textbook/hour long extra videos are as important to the exam content as his lectures. Also final is 100 multiple choice. Don't recommend.
Though the midterm average was 60%, I didn't find it challenging to get 75%. I didn't watch any videos he posted just read the textbook. The final was a 100 MCQ but they were pretty straightforward, breezed right through it. there are easy assignments and a report, making it easier to boost grades. Recommend as an easy elective.
Took this course as an easy elective. straightforward mid and finals. easy assignments and a business report to boost grades. idk why the class average was so low but I got 80% and above grades in all components without watching any of the supplementary materials, the lecture and textbook are more than enough.
If you have choice don't take this as your elective. Literally hate this course, midterm is super hard that you see everything from every corner of the textbook(average about sixty-something). Also he talks boring and makes the lecture so boring...and it lower my grade.
Lectures are super boring and uninteresting. Goes on tangents about nonsense while explaining. Ended up having to teach myself by reading notes and got a bad grade. His exams are similar to what he shows in lectures though, but I would recommend staying away if you could.
If you can I would recommend taking the course with another professor. this professor is often rude and unwilling to help students in learning. he says that the course textbook is mandatory although I would not recommend wasting your money on it.
Terrible Prof. This course is only easy IF YOU TEACH YOURSELF. Prof would constantly make jokes and talk about himself rather than TEACH THE CLASS. Not to mention, do not follow this profs ppts unless you are ok with FAILING. All and all BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS PROF IM BEGGING, LIKE PLEASE DONT BE FOOLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lectures were pretty boring, all you gotta do is read the textbook which is free online. Exams were all mc, super easy, I studied for all of the exams the night before and they were pretty easy. DGDs were mandatory, 2 group case studies that were also pretty easy. Basically just read the textbook and you won't have any problems.
Avoid at all costs. Lectures are useless because he just drags on about random things. His people skills are the real problem though. I had extenuating circumstances that made me unable to complete the assignment on time and he basically told me too bad and "hope your situation improves." He also made me feel guilty about asking for more time.
boring class
Lectures put you to sleep faster than a fistfull of extra strength melatonin downed with 7 shots of tequila after 30ccs of I.V horse tranquilizer. The level of boring is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Somehow you'll fall asleep even if you're minding your own business it needs to be studied. You're better off reading the textbook on yourown
This guy's exam review for his final has nothing on it but the learning objectives you can find at the start of each chapter's respective powerpoint. His lecture's are mindnumbingly boring and while the class does not need to be difficult what so ever he does not put in any effort to assists his student's whatsoever. Avoid this guy at all costs.
Lectures are beyond boring/useless and they will put you to sleep faster than an anesthesiologist. Little to no social skills or care when communicating with him and often times comes off as uninterested. Also takes around 15-20 business days to reply to the class question forum.
they keep deleting the honest reviews on here so you're seeing skewed ratings (even though most are bad anyway). professor will jump loops to avoid answering questions by giving you abstract answers. he has no interest in helping his students. the final exam review is just chapters learning objectives. he just yappppppps about irrelavent things
Mediocre prof, mind numbing lectures. Exams seem to be designed to be not uncomplex, as in, questions are unnecessary long and not unconvoluted, the consequence of including information irrelevant to the question itself, and are written using double negatives, as well as into compound sentences that serve, seemingly, to elude, exactly as I do now.
he is so rude
idk why everyone's saying he's rude, he was super nice and patient when I asked him questions after class and down to earth. he does yap a lot about unrelated topics tho plus his classes are boring, doesn't answer emails, and his slides are just copy and paste notes from the textbook. but if you're good at teaching yourself, this class is for you.
Lacks a sense of understanding, lacks awareness, obvious that he doesn't like his occupation.
his exam review is NOTHING like his actual exams. i mean literally no correspondence, i read and did every single review question, as well as read every single chapter and reviewed them. when i did his exam, it was like doing a course id never seen before in another language. -1000000000/10, terrible review and would never do again.
This class is a mixed bag. Professor can be disorganized, but the material is manageable. Use Unstuck AI and other study tools to stay on top of things. Overall, an average experience.
The professor is laid-back but not very helpful, often directing questions to the syllabus without specifics. Lectures go off-topic, so teaching yourself with the optional textbook helps. Small, low-impact assignments feel tedious, but DGDs with group case studies are worthwhile. Provided revision doesn't match exams; focus on DGDs and self-study.
Don't waste your time with this guy. Just take a different course with someone else
He is awfu
You actually don't know what to study for in his class, he doesn't provide enough support to students and always wants you to research topics instead of actually talking about it. However, he rambles on about stuff that isn't important "Though that's not important" after spending a solid 20 minutes talking about it, and me writing notes for nothing
His class is so confusing and has terrible structure, even his brightspace isnt organised properly. Just take a different prof, anyone is better
I hate his class
Prof's teaching is all over the place. He teaches chapters in the wrong order and wastes full lectures discussing current events with students for fun. He also provides no help if you ask him a question...he just refers you to the textbook. He also has 11 masters and never fails to mention it...He'll speak for hours and always overcomplicate topics
If you participate by answering the many questions he'll ask the class you might enjoy him. Make sure you find good group members for the case study. He gives you 5 days to do the case studies while other profs only give 24 hours. The midterm caught me off guard but after studying the final was really easy.
Worst teacher ever, do not take his class. Take Matthew Archibald's instead. Gerard always tells you to do research on the topics he should be teaching, and you will never understand the material. Also, don't buy the text book. He doesn't prepare students for tests, and should be fired.
Attendance is not mandatory whatsoever because he talks about nonsense. The review material and class notes are not even close to relevant to what is in the exam. Attend other classes lectures for any information. Nice guy though.
He's unprepared, doesn't care about the students, and doesn't understand his role as a professor. This class was boring. The midterm and final exams don't follow the review sheets he provides, nor do they even cover course material. The professor doesn't have any accommodations for his ONE HOUR a week of office hours and doesn't have TA's.
He is a good and kind person. I just hope him to show more related knowledge on his lecture. His exams can be a little difficult but dgds can help students. If you take adm1300, just spend time on remembering knowledge.
literally pick any other prof besides this guy. He doesn't have any lectures in class, it's all online but ridiculously long and BORING. I could barely finish his videos. Midterm and final were based off nothing, not even the textbook. If you end up choosing him, just read the textbook and good luck
Recorded lectures were very boooooooring. Even at 2x speed. Comes off as rude at times during synchronous Zoom lectures. Be prepared to memorize terms and concepts. A good thing though was that the final was 100 MCQ for 3 hours.
GO TO CLASS. He'll say that you don't have to bc his lectures are recorded Go anyway bc 8/10 times you won't watch the lectures or you won't finish them even if you watch at 2x speed. His recorded lectures r harder to follow. There'll be less ppl in class & he'll be more engaging + he'll give exam details in person. I wish I went to all of them
Good prof, but a little too much external papers (websites and small vids)
DO NOT TAKE!!!!!! THIS class was easy until you got to the case study, no clear instructions at times seemed impossible for certain sections.
Midterm, final and 4 case studies in a group. Midterm and final was all MC but they were very specific questions so understand the material thoroughly. Case studies are posted 1 day before they are due so make sure you have reliable partners in the group & if u cant find a group he will assign you one. Material is okay but he makes the exams hard.
I'm currently in writing the case study, and I want to explode. The instructions are unclear, and the expectations feel incredibly high. Asks for full flegded analysises as if we didn't touch on them for 10 seconds during one lec. And they don't even add to the report. Too hard for an intro course. I'm just a 1st yr, not a fully qualified advisor
The final was just straight up nonsense. It was riddled with typos, it did not closely reflect the course material, and the questions where poorly formed. Up until that point it was relatively straight forward but term project instructions where very vague and the rubric lumped grades a through c into the same category with little distinction.
Condescending and disorganized. The material is easy, so the class isn't hard, but the final was a nuke of irrelevant information. Lectures are BORING and only partially recorded. The case study was okay (a science student's perspective). His obsession with AI is strange. He treats it like an ex-girlfriend who cheated on him who he can't forget.
Unfortunately one of the worst professors I have had in a while. He's condescending and rude. We did not get through all the lectures because he would not use his time wisely. Some of the testing was poorly worded and confusing. Sometimes felt like he cared more about catching Ai then teaching the course.
Please please please DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He doesn't give you an actual review for the midterm or the final exam, just copy paste of the learning objectives. He made the exam in a way that you couldn't go back once you went to the next question. This class stressed me out so much don't do it to yourself.
