Gerard is the most unprofessional teacher ever. He wastes time going off on tangents and is NEVER prepared for class. It takes him at least 20 minutes to fumble through his notes and recall where he left off each class. He is also useless if you go to him for help and simply throws your questions back at you. He also makes a LOT of mistakes.

Probably the worst prof I've ever had. The more you listen, the more confusing the concept becomes. It's a better idea to just learn it with someone who has already taken the course or macro. The textbook is also lacking many parts essential to the assignments. He didn't teach a lot of the material on the last few chapters , do NOT recommend.

Gerard was the one of the worst professors I have had. I have not missed a single lecture but I had a really hard time understanding the subject because his lectures are extremely vague. I am sure he knows a lot about economics, but he has very poor skills in delivering the information that is important. I had to study the entire course on my own.

Avoid this prof at all costs. He does not teach what he puts on the assignments nor does he teach much of what he puts on the final exam. Sometimes very rude to students which makes the class feel uncomfortable.

Gerard's teaching is unorganized. The lecture slides are brief and have little relations to the computer assignments. The online exams are brutal and scary. People drop his course like flies!

All Gerard does is go over formulas, but he never actually teaches you how to use or apply them. You're better off doing this course online.

Gerard basically reiterates the power points, you learn absolutely nothing in class. This is a self directed course. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVENT TAKEN MICRO. You will fail.

SO hard to follow, online tests are nothing like in class examples. Only went over 2 problems in class with numbers and expects you to know how to apply it on the midterm. Would not recommend to anyone. Avoid taking Macro or Micro with him.

Not an approachable teacher at all. Ask him for help and he will refer to reading the textbook which is nothing like his class lectures. Its a very dry class.

Really did not enjoy this course. Gerard is a poor professor.

His lectures are very unorganized and he gets off topic a lot. It's hard to know what to focus on studying tests. His exams are online and unfair as you cannot get any part marks. I heard after the fact that he's the worst prof possible for this course. I Choose someone else! Avoid Gerard like the plague!

Talks about Trump for 20 mins, then learn about how to do algebra for 40 mins, talk about his life for another 20, and BAM. Class is over.

Horrible teacher. I had to self teach myself everything, and it was not clear what we needed to know. He covered hardly any theory. He never explains anything and it's really hard to follow along. He gives no studying guidelines and the notes he gives are not clear. I'm thankful for khanacademy

The lecture slides never match the textbook so if you rely solely off the notes he provides, you'll fail. He rarely shows examples, just repeats what the formulas are.. Then the midterm/assignments are filled with equation questions you were never taught how to even approach. Would not recommend, unless you know every inch of the textbook.

This entire course is very inconsistent. Lectures don't match the material on the online chapter modules, modules don't match the online assignments, assignments don't match the online midterm, and the final is written. It's so difficult to know what to study and all he talks about is linear functions, Stephen Harper, the Great Depression and Trump

Do not take his class. He talks about TRUMP for literally half the class. He has some attitude when you don't answer his questions. Self taught class. Avoid him. 10/10 do not recommend.

One of the worst profs I've had in all ways possible, and to top it off, the assignments, midterm, and final do not relate to each other or class instruction at all. It was a struggle to maintain a positive attitude about this course and the prof all semester. Avoid unless you want to teach yourself the course.

Don't get me wrong, Gerard is a very smart prof. He just can't teach a class if his life depended on it. He moves so fast that no one in the class has any idea what he is doing. He explains things in a way no one but him understands. The online quizzes and test have different content than what was learned in class.

Unless you understand how to compare tanks and babies to economics I would not use this professor. I maybe would have pursued economics if it wasn't for his class.

He's a funny professor, but he is everywhere when he is lecturing. He keeps jumping from one topic to another. It was hard to follow his lectures. He does not relate his lectures to any of his quizzes, midterms and even the final.

awful prof, lectures are disgustingly boring and off topic. Doesn't give any sort of example when he covers a topic. Expects you read the whole textbook and his notes are support to just add to your original notes. Do not take.

The most awful prof I have EVER had in my life. Now I had profs with weird accents but he doesn't even have an accent problem. He's just a lazy prof who doesnt care to teach properly the concepts or give good examples. No wonder no one shows up to classes, he doesn't even help you when you need it. Get outta MRU, you are just a waste!

He showed up to all the lectures, which is good. For me, he did not satisfy my learning style and was not specific with what to study for quizzes and tests. He is knowledgeable and can connect the class material to real world experience, but I was extremely confused the entire semester. take a different class if you can.

Gerard is a very difficult professor to have. His tests cover information that are not lectured in class, and reading the textbook helps but some of the concepts need further explaining. Had to teach the class to myself and it was really hard. Would not recommend, if you get into his class GET OUT.

Lecture content doesn't reflect online quizzes, assignments, midterm or final. All textbook based. All over the place with lectures, jumps from topic to topic. Not very available outside of class.

Gerard is a nice person but a terrible prof. Lectures are all over the place and he is never clear when explaining. Online quizzes and assignments have nothing to do with his lectures and take forever. Picks on people to participate. If you get him, run away.

If you want a decent mark stay away from this professor. He hardly covers any of the quiz and test material in class and goes on rants every 5 minutes that have absolutely nothing to do with the course. He will cover the not important stuff tons of times, but when it actually comes to the important information he only skims over it once. Stay away!

Gerard is a nice guy; but you will end up having to teach yourself the majority of this class. His lectures are all over the place and only sometimes pair with the textbook. The Majority of your marks are online quizzes and assignments that don't utilize his lecture material. I attended every class and carry a 3.7 GPA; but this class was brutal.

I haven't learned anything in this class besides the base fundamentals. He tries to engage the class and is a good lecturer but when it comes to actual teaching he cant teach a goddamn ape to scratch his balls. i Have gone to every single class taken notes and payed attention. nothing i have learnt in lectures has applied to any of his tests.

Gerard's classes were fun and entertaining until I encountered the online quizzes/assignment. He claims only the topics he talks about in class will be on the online modules. However, majority of my in-class notes after the midterm did not help me at all while completing the quizzes. This left me to basically learn the course on my own through text

Do yourself a favour and take this course with a different prof. This course is very lecture (which are very confusing)/module heavy, and he will not respond to emails regarding missed classes. I basically taught myself everything which resulted in me withdrawing and wasting $500.

Gerard is a brutal prof, all tests/assignments never tie into lecture teaching and you end up not knowing how to do anything. He never gives out worksheets or anything so you can't practice anything from the course. His teaching is telling you something and expecting you to know it. Waste of time, waste of money, laziest prof ever.

Lectures are pointless rambling for the first 10-15 minutes and he barely teaches the material in comparison to what is tested. Averages for midterms when I took it were in the 30's. Should have saved the stress by just dropping his class. I'm an A student and got a C

Gerard's class is brutal. He doesn't care about his students at all and won't even bother to learn your name. His entire classes are lectures that are irrelevant to the assignments and midterms. His midterms and quizzes are all multiple choice so he doesn't have to grade anything. Doesn't answer questions or emails either.

Horrible, got D in his class, retook it with same amount of studying and even less with a new prof, got an A

This semester I had acct, stats, marketing, management and macro with Gerard and macro was the only class I didn't get an A in. Lectures were interesting but don't connect at all to his tests or online assignments. For the final I ended up watching 3 hours of youtube videos to study and I learned more then, then I did the whole semester with Gerard

I don't understand what he's talking about half the time and how it relates to the topic. I took this class in semester one and I ended up withdrawing because my grades were so low. I re-took this class in semester two with a different prof and finished with a B+. If you want to take an economics class take it with Ambrose!!!

Although his intentions are good, i can not stress how much you will struggle in this class. Its as if he assumes that everyone is already well versed in the topic so he can ramble on for the entire class about nothing, and get frustrated when no one knows what hes talking about or whats happening. Not met one person who has anything good to say

I feel like he means well but honestly I rarely know what is going on in lectures. As well as the assignments are based pretty much off the textbook alone. If you can, maybe get a different teacher.

Notes feel useless, as examples on the board rarely involve numbers which is the foundation of the heavily weighted midterm and assignments. He rarely answers questions and instead refers you to other teachers, not sure why lol.

He is very knowledgeable about the topic, but he has no teaching ability. He rants and rants about nothing that has been on tests, assignments, or midterms. He thinks he is Gods gift to the economics world and you can definitely tell by the way he addresses students and attempts to teach his lectures. Lectures that if you miss, good luck to you

If you take Gerard it will be doom and gloom. All he talks about is the ticker tape on the stock markets and can't be bothered to teach anything else.

It was very difficult to retain and grasp all the information in this course. Gerard does not post lecture slides on BB so you have to rely on the textbook. His lectures are an oversimplification of what's on the exams and if you find the textbook to be unclear or hard to follow as I did then you will have an incredibly frustrating time.

He literally cannot teach. He expects you to understand a ton of information and then doesn't bother posting any slides on blackboard. do yourself a favor and don't take his class

This prof is terrible! I am not trying to be rude I am trying to warn other students to get a different prof!! I thought I hated economics, I dreaded everything about this class. Now I am taking macroeconomics and I love it. Having a different teacher made economics way easier to understand and more enjoyable, with Gerard I was lost and confused.

Gerard makes microeconomics seem so easy and fun but then when you go to study or do practice questions on your own you realize you don't understand anything from lectures. He deals almost 100% with theory and never puts real examples/numbers to go with the formulas. Never posts on BB. Spent more hours on this class than any other.

He doesn't post the slides online, so in order to get the notes you either have to get them from someone in the class, or not have the notes at all

Don't take his class. He made macroeconomics way harder than it should be. He lectures make the content sound easy but when you go to do the assignments you realized you have no idea what you are doing.

Don't take this class if you want to have the notes posted. Gerard does not post his lecture notes on his website so it is very difficult to review the notes afterwards. He is also very hard to communicate with. I emailed him and it took him at least 3 weeks to respond, if not at all. I do recommend taking a class with him.

Complete abandonment of students during Covid-19 crisis. No online lectures and nothing to help. He's a lazy teacher, he only does m/c tests and uses old textbook supplied PowerPoint notes. Rushes through tougher parts and takes forever on easy stuff. Be prepared for lots of personal opinions and repeats of the same lame stories every class. Avoid!

Stay far away! He does not care about his students. Repeats the same information and inserts his personal opinion into lectures a lot. Is not always available outside class, gives no feedback. No slides posted and old in class slides. Unorganized lectures that make you dizzy from how many topics he jumps around with.

His online COVID classes are completely asynchronous meaning you teach yourself everything. I emailed him for help and he said he was "busy". Midterm has no correlation to the textbook. The class is essentially do it all yourself and fail tests because he tests you on different concepts. Stay away.

straight up sucks. his lectures are the tip of the iceberg of what you actually have to know and even then he focuses on stuff that are irrelevant for tests and quizzes. Doesn't give you examples and expects you to know how to do assignment questions that you've never seen in the book or on his lectures. AVOID AT ALLLLL COSTS

I strongly advise to STAY AWAY from him. This is the hardest asynchronous course I have taken so far. He uploads dense Google Slides presentations along with supplementary materials that are the length of full books. The content he provides helps little to non as there are no good examples of how it applies to questions from homework or exams.

DO NOT TAKE. His microeconomics class is completely asynchronous, which normally would be fine if you're an independent learner, however his recorded lectures are terrible. He reads directly off his slides and does not explain anything. His tests are based completely on these lectures which makes them way more difficult than they need to be

If you have to take this course online, stay far away! The course is completely asynchronous and even with the lecture slides provided he just reads them off. Worst final grade I've ever received.

Gerard's lectures are bare minimum on the topics you need to know, and he gives little to no actual examples on how to use formulas. Teaches one thing, tests on completely different topics, uses different terms to mess you up on tests. Highly suggest you DO NOT take his class, he's going to make it harder than it needs to be for you.

Gerard is the epitome of the bare minimum. This guy will read you the whole book and give you quizzes, midterm, assignments, and finals that are completely different or he just failed to show how to do them properly. 10/10 would not take his class again, waste of tuition and time as far as I am concerned.

His lectures are SO DRY. He teaches the bare minimum and then tests very indepth. You do not learn very much from his classes so be prepared to spend hours on Youtube trying to figure out whats going on.

Gerard is a great person and is really knowledgeable about Economics, but as a lecturer he really needs some work. He reads off his lecture slides constantly and never gives any sort of examples that would be easily understandable for students. His chapter modules are based off things that he hasnt talked about much or at all in the class.

One of the worst classes I've taken at MRU so far, lectures are incredibly dry and he reads verbatim off the slides. Content on tests and modules is far more in depth than what he goes over in lectures. Gerard does seem knowledgeable in microecon but teaches the bare minimum and expects way more than that on tests.

If you want to learn anything do not take this prof. He does not care about his students. Very dry class and no support. Tests were harder than what he went over in class, some things were not in the textbook or mentioned in class.

Why did you become a teacher if you don't like people? I am shocked 18% of students would take him again.

This professor is by far the worst professor that I and hundreds of other people have had or will have in there whole post secondary education. He is extremely arrogant, and has very poor communication skills. His teaching deliveries are contradicting to the course material. In other words, this mongoloid parasite doesn't deserve to be a prof.

Gerard had a question on his midterm which required 10th grade math and he still managed to 1. Not put the correct answer as an option 2. try and come up with an excuse for why he was right. He has been by far the worst prof I have ever encountered and he should have no ratings above a 1 (any other rating was probably made by Gerard).

DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY! You have to learn everything on your own. His examples are not actual numbers so you have to do practice on calculations if you want to pass.

Nothing he goes over in class makes sense with his exam questions, which he steals from quizlet anyway. The class assignment average was 55% and he blamed us for not properly learning the material, but 80% of it were things we never learned. He likes to go on political rants more than he actually likes teaching. Enjoy

I would not take this class again, it is hard to get feedback from the professor and many of the concepts in the midterms/assignments do not align with the content covered in class. If you are taking this class, it is mostly self-taught. The prof is a nice guy, but take this course with a different prof.

Just take it with any other online prof and you'll be fine.

Super dry lectures you might as well learn it yourself or not even come to class at all. All the answers for the tests can be found online but genuinely i felt like i learned nothing. He also doesnt respond to emails, though i will say he seems pretty nice since he gave me directions to the nurses office

He gives useless lectures, never answers emails, and does not care about his students. He does not care about the course as all his test questions are obviously stolen online.

Don't even know why this guy still has a job. The amount of 1 star reviews speak for themselves. A pointless teacher who doesn't bother teaching and constantly makes mistakes then blames the student.

This prof is extremely difficult to work with. There's no practice material, the slides have almost no useful content with no good explanations, and the course requires teaching yourself everything. Emails take ages for him to answer, grading is very slow, and the 40% final feels impossible to prepare for.

For this being an online asynchronous class, the resources available are minimal. You must rely solely on the term tests and two assignments to prepare you for your 40% final. Lecture notes are not always understandable, and the actual teaching is lacking heavily. I do not recommend this professor for an online course.
