Really interesting class. The instructor es easy going and has a great sense of humor. He loves to talk about real life situations. Oh yeah, don't use your cell phone in class, he does not like it. I learned quite a bit. Yeah, take his class!
He is a really smart guy, I will give him that, but we never did anything in class that had to do with the material; all we did was talk about what is going on in politics. I took his class over winter, and i pretty much had to teach myself everything for his online quizzes (open book). Easy, just be ready to do it all yourself to get your grade.
He loves to answer questions. His typical answer is 30 min long and informative. Quizzes are online and open book. Don’t be fooled they are not super easy. He tells you what is going to be on the test. He is a great teacher. I would recommend him. He is a Political Scientist and you know his true feelings towards political leaders! Take this class!
I took his online class for the winter session. His class was very interesting and he obviously knows his stuff. It was a little hard to get in contact with him. Everyone was turning their stuff in on time so, as a reward, he extended all the deadlines, which was an amazing thing for me. Only complaint, he could have had some online lectures.
He is a very intelligent Professor, but the truth is you have to teach yourself. His lectures have nothing to do with the tests which makes it difficult for the students. He needs to focus more on what we will be tested on!
Very good professor and a very interesting and relevant class. The tests are hard, but you do learn a lot in his class. Mr. Peters also has a good sense of humor, which makes the class go fast!
Very intelligent professor yet makes his class lectures fun. Test are not hard, but not easy. Just make sure to study and you shall do well.
He wasnt the best teacher. He talked about the most random things that had nothing to do with the class. His lectures had my falling asleep. I learned about current politics and thats about it. Wouldnt take this class if you want a fun teacher. Very boring
Prof. Peters is a great instructor. His passion for the subject really shows. His exams are very fair. His lectures are very clear and he has a great sense of hummor which really adds to the class. Do your readings, participate and show up for class and you will learn a lot!
Interesting course and great instructor! I really enjoyed his class.
Most of the time during lectures he will trail off to a completely off topic subject like the economy. Your text book will become your bible. Study it extensively and you should be fine. He gives about 7 quizzes with 27 Q's and mid-terms and finals have 1-2 essays and short answers.
Peters has been one of the most interesting people I have had at Citurs. He's friendly enough and is almost too enthusiastic about the subject, but that is why I liked him. He seemed obsessed in talking about the election. He posts study guides online so make sure you read and study and you should be able to get at least a B.
When he focuses he is amazing. The problem is he never really focuses and will digress for the majority of the time. I've learned a bit from him but you're pretty much on your own for this class. USE THE TEXTBOOK
Very interesting guy. Political science isn't his career. IT'S HIS LIFE!! He is really passionate about the subject. He is a funny guy, but be prepared to study!! Make sure to read the textbook because what he talks about in class is not relevant to whats on the tests!!
I really enjoyed this class Peters is funny & super smart. He really makes you understand the Political Science world & speaks about topics in todays world. You can tell he really wants to educate his students.
This class is one of the most interesting classes i have taken. I would advise anyone who has any interest in politics to take his Contemporary World Politics class.
Good professor. Knows the subject well and invites debate in class, which is fun.
Knows his stuff, but tends to always get off topic. you have to read the text in order to pass.
Peters is a nice guy and he can be funny at times. He is unprepared sometimes and uses about a quarter of the time to find a video or an online source to back up his lecture. He likes to relate baseball to politics often. The quizzes are multi-choice and the midterm/final are short answers. Very easy if you are familiar with the subject.
Best class I've taken so far. Most of the students knew their stuff in terms of political science so the majority of time was spent in class discussion. He frequently gets off topic or does not talk about subject matter at all so reading the book is a must.
He kept going off topic about baseball sometimes and his notes were not helpful what so ever. Even with a study guide the quizzes an tests were hard to pass
very knowledgable and passionate. If you answer the study guide and do the reading you should do well. If you dont like to read and dont do the study guide youll do bad. The quizes are multiple choice the mid term and final are short answer and essay the quizes are not bad if you do the work the mid term and final are hard but manageable.
I learned a LOT from this class. Good teacher, super super strict with cellphones, and he goes off about random crap that really doesn't matter but overall a great learning experience.
Mr. Peters is very passionate about poli sci and knows what he's talking about! He's funny, though some people don't get his jokes. Participate in class, it makes it better. Sometimes he'll go off about another topic that what was planned that day but its fun.
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was the only option available to me at the time, my hatred for politics has only deepened. His tests are NOT easy and you can study 24/7 and still get a manage to get a B. He makes you do a poll assignment on the internet that was NOT FUN AT ALL. It was a waste of time and money. I hated politics and he made it worse with his BORING lectures.
he's passionate about what he teaches and he knows what hes talking about.he doesnt do boring power points but actually discusses topics. goes off topic sometimes but you learn from it. He gives a study guide thats helpful and is overall a great professor
This instructor is a waste of time and money. All he does is talk about him self. He doesn't talk about anything that would be useful to the class and the tests, which the tests are a joke. No matter how much you read or study you will not pass. Just a really bad teacher, not a bad guy but a bad bad teacher!!!! Save yourself the pain!
Peters is a fun teacher who does not bore you. He likes to get off subject but it relates to what you are learning that day. Reading is ok just look at the study guide he gives out.
this class is manageable, but super stressful. you only get 3 exams to pass this class, nothing else, so you better make sure you keep up on the reading. hes also really boring! will put you to sleep
Took this class online during the summer and got an A. He is extremely helpful, very organized, and clearly explains what is expected. He is passionate about government and politics and encourages you to expand your knowledge of the material. HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone considering taking online!
I urge anyone who is interested in taking this class to avoid taking this teacher. he is awfully rude and does not respect the students unless you participate A LOT in class. class is fairly hard if you never read. Goes off subject way too often and makes one dread going to class.
Very good instructor. He is funny and adds great stories to his lectures. You DO have to do your reading.I learned a lot in his class and he was very helpful. I recommend this teacher!!!
Very good teacher. The discussions in class kept me interested in a topic I didn't really care for. As long as you study, you will pass this class for sure.
I took him during the summer and it wasn't so bad. We only had 3 or 4 test and we never had homework except one assignment. If you studied the test was easy but the writing portion is what makes your grade. He wasn't very helpful and he is kind of odd. BUY YOUR BOOK!!
OK.Lets start with the cons. #1Its impossible to take good notes off him.Doesn't finish his defineitions and seems to interrupt himself.#2 Class time is pretty boring. Pros:#1.NOHOMEWORK.only 3 exams which is awesome!he gives you a study guide online which is helpful.Nice teacher and makes an effort to make it intersting although its unsucessful.
Am currently in his online class. Pretty simple and straightforward; read a chapter a week and take a quiz each week. About 4 written assignments but not too hard and two discussion boards. Definitely have to be a self starter and learner if you want to do well in the class.
Took honors political science with him. TERRIBLE. Lectures were nonsense and I learned nothing. I felt lost throughout the whole corse. Do not rely on his lectures to help with the test. Read the book and teach yourself because he wont. Also, very annoying about attendance. I felt like i was in the fifth grade. Super annoying and frustrating.
His lectures usually go off topic pretty quickly and sometimes spark class discussions that can be insightful or just banter so reading the textbook is in your best interest. If you're uninformed about politics he can be quite rude and unpleasant.
This is a grown up class where discussion occurs. Dont expect a power point lecture(thank God). The ****s who complain on here dont really understand the concept of engagement. Guy knows what hes talking about &demands the best of you. Stay on& ASK QUESTIONS about the reading. The book plays a major role. Be prepared to analyze & write;very fair.
Your grade reflects your effort in this class; lectures reflect the egagement of students. I do horribly on scantrons, I like to justify answers & can write a ****ing essay. Tests provide the opportunity to balance one w/ the other. Its nice to take a class that isn't a monolog nor powerpoint driven. Peters is funny & challenges you to participate
I took his class this fall and had taken a class previously w/him IR was harder because lectures weren't always about the readings and I learn mostly from lectures. Participate! Lectures are more about what the students want to talk about he's nice, he's funny, he's helpful, take advantage of his knowledge don't be afraid to talk out of class w/him
I really dreaded going to this class everyday. Mr. Peters continually talks about his opinion as fact and is COMPLETELY oblivious to his own bias. There is a lot of discussion, but the discussion has to be praising liberals/bashing conservatives. He does not lecture on the material and the tests are HARD. I do NOT recommend this class.
His class is based off of lecture &some visual aids. His lectures are fun, interesting and he encourages students to participate in them. His tests are usually a scantron &a essay or short responses, based off of the book/class lecture. I recommended taking his class, he is a personable guy and an insightful teacher!
Peters has a strong passion for politics. He engages his class in critical discussions of current issues, which helps develop critical thinking skills. His classes are equivalent to UC-level courses so you do need to dedicate your time to the class if you want to pass. He has 3 exams and they are not easy, but the study guide will help you greatly.
currently in the last week of his winter online class. 2-3 chapter quizzes a week. 3 page paper every 2 weeks. 1 discussion board. He tells you exactly what he wants for a good grade. Just do the work, its manageable. I handled this along with 9 other units.
Winter - Week 1&2 (ch 1-5) First test on ch1-5 and an essay question. Week 3&4 (ch 12,13&15) Second test on ch.12,13&15 and an essay question. Week 5&6 (ch.1-6) Final on ch.1-6 and two short answer questions. We also had to do a project on "survey polling"(it was easy). If you want an easy "A" don't choose this professor. I worked hard and got a B.
This guy's class was a blast. If you like funny teachers and watching clips of the Daily Show, then take his class. Almost NO homework at all, and the small amount of assignments that are required were very easy. I didn't even open my book and I hardly studied throughout the semester and I aced almost everything.
Everything else is good about this teacher EXCEPT his attitude about showing up to class on time. He over does it with how much he doesn't like people showing up late. the only incentive you need to give people to show up on time is just mark them absent if late NOT lock people out ESPECIALLY for being 1 minute late for a test!!!
Took course online. Straight forward with what he wanted. Hardly any homework assignments, but had weekly online quizzes with only 40 mins to do 25 questions (1 chapter a week). Quizzes were sort of hard but teacher gives study guides with each chapter. Overall I passed with a "B" so it's not extremely hard. Recommended as long as your willing to do the work.
nice guy, funny lectures, keeps you interested. i like his honesty, it is a tough class to ace though. I got a B, but then again i never read a chapter, just looked over the powerpoints he made and went to class. I will take him again if possible.
I didn't particularly enjoy Poli 103. Yes there is hardly any homework but the tests are hard. Lectures don't correlate with what we need to know for the tests. There isn't even a study guide.
Wow, he does not do his job well. He gets off subject so fast. Hes so mean to people who come late or try to use the restroom during class. he hates buisness majors. if you dont read the book you have no way in passing his class.
definitely one of my favorite teachers of all time . very engaged, he wants to hear from his students, he wants to know what everyone wants to talk more about or needs help with . he's laid back but he does have rules for his class . his lectures made three hours ( night class ) go by fast, especially since he gives a 10-15min break in the middle .
I tried taking him in person and didn't have much success. However, I took him online this past semester and was very successful. Take his class online. It's a lot of reading and quizzes but you can use the book and don't have to worry about him getting sidetracked via youtube...
I took this professor online, he is very clear on what he wants, easy grading, he is strict on deadlines but he is very considerate of his students. I recommend taking this class online if you don't like political science in general, easy course especially if you take it fast track.
Take it if you like learning by yourself. Because He does not teach at all. He talks about things other than the topic. no hw but the test is half multiple choice half essay. you are your own teacher on this one
took him in the spring of 2011 i thought his class was hard.but I'm glad I passed his class.
He's very knowledgeable of the subject. He teaches differently. Lectures on various topics, lots of current events. You're required to read the book on your own but he gives a study guide. No hw and 3 tests, half mc and half essay and usually gives the topics for the essay. If you're lazy don't take him
Mr. Peters is a great teacher, encourages political discourse, and demands your attention. The only homework really is reading your book. Use the test-prep provided at text website,it is very helpful on the 3 tests. Essays are discussed in class prior to exam. Take good notes, worked hard for that A! He is a fair teacher, a real gem.
Very good professor! Read text, study notes :)
Professor Peters is a very intelligent man who really knows what he's talking about. The class is by no means a walk in the park, be prepared to read your text! Very fair professor, and you will definitely learn a lot. Highly recommended!
He knows his stuff and is very passionate about what he does ! You got to put in work but its well worth it !
The class was okay. Had no interest before or after taking it. Tests are easy to pass and he drops the lowest grade. He's full of himself, which is pretty entertaining at times, but I'd prefer to pass on the photo tour of his bourgeois vacations and get to a lecture (he doesn't much, most classes are made up of youtube videos)
Took him for both Poli Sci 103 and 116, and he is without a doubt a great professor. No homework, which means his class was based purely on tests. Read the book and take good notes and you'll do well. Very passionate and knowledgeable.
He is very intelligent! Took him for Poli 116 and 103 and he knows what he is talking about. There are only tests and no hw so as long as you read the book, then you should be fine. He is pretty funny too and make sure you aren't late all the time- he does not like that.
Not a very helpful professor online. Very rude in his emails. Of all the online courses I have completed, I have had the worst experience with Peters. Not recommended.
Very intelligent! I loved that he was passionate about his class and full of information. However, he's all over the place with his lectures. Goes off topic way too much and I don't recommend it for those who need the professor to lecture in class in addition to textbook. Slow with his grading as well. Overall real nice guy.
Very smart man, but just an awful teacher and gets way off topic.
Took him online because of the reviews of taking him in person. It was ok. 15 quizzes, drops 2 and 4 writing assingments. It wasn't an easy class since I had to read the book and go through the powerpoints. 20 question quizzes and only have 20 minutes to do the questions. We'll see what grade I get.
Peters is very straightforward and clear from the beginning of the semester about what to expect. You NEED to read the book to pass the quizzes. Your grade is 13/15 quizzes and 4 papers. No final! Quizzes are 20-questions, 20-minutes, and all multiple choice. Papers are 3-5 pages in length and require a mild amount of research. Not a bad class! A.
Peters is a smart man. But he spends too much time talking about things other than the course content. If you are self motivated and enjoy talking about current events in class time, this is the class for you. Be in love with politics, otherwise you'll be bored all semester long.
Not an easy class. 4 essays - 1200 words each (and he's a tough grader). 15 quizzes - 20 questions each quiz & only 20 minutes to complete. No leniency when Blackboard malfunctions. This class is a lot of work. Take it if you must, but it wouldn't be my first choice!
READ THE BOOK- only gives 4 tests. NO homework so NO room for grade improvement. If you do not read or study you will fail. no extra credit and no dropped scores
Easy class to pass if you show up. doesn't assign any in class assignments or homework. 4 test all semester, MUST study to pass, your grade depends on it. No chance to back up grade. Very knowledgable but tends to speak off topic
Prof. Peters is very knowledgable about politics, his specialty being the Presidency. He's an outgoing teacher, he goes off topic a lot which is the only con to taking his class. Reading is essential for this reason if you want to pass, if you miss class you may miss some information for exams. Exams are fairly easy if you study.
Professor loves his job and it shows. Talks alot about current events which may lead to going off topic, does cover all material that will be on the test. Offers study Guide online which covers the exam perfectly. Read . Received a B but if I would have took the class serious in the beginning I believe I could have received my first A in college
I took this class online Summer 2015. It was not an easy class, but it's managable. Advice stay on top of your readings, and take the essays seriously. Reading the book will save you. Also make sure to answer prompt questions throughly; it makes or breaks your grade.
Papers are LONG... Took him for an 8 week period! And he assigned us 5 page ESSAYS! That I think was pretty ridiculous especially since it was an 8 week period.
I took him for online Poli103, worst teacher ever..... Quiz every week, 20 question with 20 minute, not too hard, but the paper he assigned are all required at least 1200 words....... and he is tough Grader..I just drop this class will never take this teacher again.
Not that he's a hard teacher or hard grader, but what's tough about this guy is that he adds questions on quizzes and tests that are from ahead chapters. So if you take his class, make sure you read the entire book before you start any test/quiz.
I took his 8 week fast track class and was not bad just requires alot of reading and a well written essay to pass! Got an A but definitely earned it. 13 quizzes and 5, 1200 word, essays! Take if your not a procrastinator!
He gives insight beyond the textbook. Be sure to read the textbook.
Don't take this class if you're looking to slack-off, if you're looking to actually learn something and are willing to put time into the class, take this class for sure, especially if you're looking to transfer to a UC.
He's not that bad of a teacher - his problem is that he cannot stay on the subject to save his life. He gets distracted by everything and it gets frustrating after a while. Didn't cover a couple of sections because he didn't have enough time to do them. Tests aren't hard but be sure to read the book and have an opinion on things. He likes that.
He's a really passionate teacher but he tends to get off topic during lectures & will lecture for the entire class period. Class is fairly easy if you read the book. No HW, but no extra credit either. My only complaint is that there are only 4 exams that will make or break your grade. I got a 79.5% overall in the class so I ended up with a C. :(
Interesting class. Took him for American Politics, took him again because his grading is clear--only relies on exams, no homework no extra credit. He can go off topic sometimes but finds a way to link it back to the lecture/chapter. He expects you are reading chapters beforehand; so, you must read! Overall easy class, got an A.
The class is supposed to enrich the material you're supposed to be reading at home, so many times the class discussions revolve around current affairs. In order to pass, you MUST read the book. Professor Peters does what he can to help by posting study concepts and giving the essay questions ahead of time. Not a class where you can slack off.
need to continue to effort
Professor Gerhard is long-winded but I learned a lot in his class. Don't take this class if you can't make it on time!
Overall hes a great professor. I took his class in the winter quarter and it wasn' too bad. there is a lot of reading! But its not bad. The subject of the class is very important and Peters really takes his class to heart. his blackboard is by far the best Ive seen. he gives you everything you can possibly need to pass, from videos to power point!!
Kinda arrogant, talks about himself a lot. I didn't pass because my car broke down the day of the first test and he wouldn't let me make it up. Class is dull unless you participate in the lecture. He really knows his stuff. Always willing to debate politics with students and answer questions. Tests are really hard though from the ones I took
I am not a fan. Going to class is mandatory but also a huge waste of time. He is a rambler and doesn't know how to speak in complete sentences -- tangent after irrelevant tangent. He's really condescending and loves talking about himself. All that being said, the tests are easy. The entire grade is from 4 exams (multiple choice with an essay).
H O R R I B L E. Always off topic. rude. talks about himself too much. Gets upset if you need to use the restroom????? sarcastic and in a very rude and not funny way. he never teaches. waste of time going to his class yet, makes it mandatory to go or you fail. prepare to be your own teacher.
He always gets off topic and is self absorbed, goes over 20% of material in class and the rest is up to you get ready to be your own teacher ,for the final he informed us that anyone late would not be permitted to take it yet he was unprofessionally late
An online taken. Lack of communication, tough grader, even when challenged. Communication (only email) is intermittent, at best. All in all, do the work and you'll pass. No extra credit given, even if you ask, it won't happen. Maybe physically taking his class would be different? I doubt that I will take his online class again.
His online class is very easy to get a good grade in, seeing that all you need to do is read the chapters each week and take the quiz. Quizzes involve very detailed material so pay attention. It seems to me that he grades kind of hard on the written assignments, but there are only 4 total, and 2 discussion boards. Its a very typical online class.
Took him for Winter session, amazing lectures, sometimes gets off topic but then gets back on track. You have to participate in order for the class not to be boring. Make sure to read the chapters before lecture, lecture will make more sense. No homework.. grade based on 3 exams and attendance. Definitely have to put in the work for an 'A' grade.
Took class for Winter 2017... Amazing class. Professor is very passionate and knows the topic extremely well. You have to put some effort on your part to read & take notes while in class. For exams he gives 4 possible essay questions (1 is chosen the day of exam).. if you study all 4 before the exam you will do great on the multiple choice & essay.
Took the Winter class and I must say that it was very interesting. I'm not a politics kind of person but the Professor makes it interesting. Just make sure to do the reading and take notes in class. Tests are pretty straightforward 50 mult choice and an essay question.
Do the reading and pay attention in class. Do study all the essay questions he gives you before the exams. Clear grading criteria and easy to get a passing grade if you do the readings and don't miss class or show up late.
Show up to class on time and pay attention. Read chapters and you'll pass. Very straightforward.
This is the first online class I have taken and it was great! If you are looking for an easy A because it's online, look somewhere else. Lots of chapter quizzes and 4 essays for winter session. But I learned a lot!!
He's rude and clearly is not a teacher that is interested in your education.
Very rude, arrogant, and self absorbed. If you want to learn about The American Presidency Project, well, here is your guy. He created the website and will never let you forget. Turns out for one of his projects, it was all of his students doing his dirty work for his website. 10/10 do not recommend. Lectures are not like the tests either.
Started his online course and he wanted 11 assignments done on the first day. He requires you to purchase the book on amazon in order to have the book in time for his tests. Also only gives 20mins for 25 question test. Definitely not a professor I would recommend if you have a serious anxiety disorder.
His lectures are interesting and give good information in general, but a lot of it doesn't help with the test. Take advantage of the material he gives on canvas, it helps on the multiple choice. Read the book for further help and to answer essay questions. No homework besides study. Tests/Essays are in class.
horrible professor! he is very conceited and talks about himself wayyy tooo much!! he has his own website and he talks about it every single chance he gets! Horrible at teaching lessons & the tests are completely different than the lessons. If you want to learn something dont take this class, the only thing youll learn about is his website .
As a Veteran of the U.S. Army, a Conservative, and a proud patriot of our wonderful country and supporter of our President Trump, I found his class to be nothing but anti-Trump garbage. He uses (bias) CNN for resources, and in general, uses this class to push around his liberal agenda. I expected nothing less from a California Politics Course.
Horrible experience! This my 10th or so online class and the reviews here are accurate. The worst part, in addition to huge amount of assignments, is the lack of time to answer 25 questions in 20 minutes! Unrealistic to expect anyone to remember everything theyve read. Tests should allow for sufficient time to reference bookmarks and notes!
This is the worst class I have taken at citrus so far. He bragged about his presidency website most of the time. His lectures turn into republican lashing sessions he is very biased and teaches to his own agenda (not even with actual facts to back up what he is saying). Besides politics his test are nothing like the lectures.
I do not recommend this professor whatsoever, especially if youre going to take his online course. He's unreasonable, allows only 20 mins for you to respond to 25 questions. He didn't accept some responses because they seemed too similar to others, when there is literally only one answer, what does he expect?
Probably one of the worst experiences Ive had with an onnline course. He doesnt give you credit for your responses because he believes that it matches everyone elses answer.. theres only one answer..
Possibly the WORST class I've ever taken at Citrus. I thought I needed this class in order to transfer, but there's no point. This professor makes you write 2 essays with prompts that don't even make sense. He accuses people of plagiarizing because everyone's answers are similar. The quizzes you take aren't even worth anything for your grade.
Citrus needs to hire another Political Science prof. He came highly recommended by my councilor. 20 minutes to complete a 25 question quiz, and grading relies heavily on the exams. I took his in class lecture and dropped with a W because I couldn't handle how he would get off topic. The subject is already difficult, he just makes it harder to get.
At first I didn't really care for this course but as time went on and I have had to reach out to the professor, I believe he is fair. It does require a lot of attention to reading and the tests are hard but all the grades I have received, I earned. There are A LOT of assignments so be sure to have ample time to dedicate.
This is the worst class that i took at Citrus. Huge amounts of homework and assignments of this course. He assuming everyone plagiarism from someone else. Tests are very difficult and require to finish in 20 minutes for 25 questions. I dropped with "w" because i can not handle. i do not recommend to take his class.
The worst professor ever. I RECOMMEND ALL OF YOU TO FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR !
Worst teacher ever. Lots of quizzes 5 per week. READ THE BOOK or you won't pass. He very democratic, and is biased. He uses a lot of CNN, NBC, ABC, and other leftist news sources. He is not lenient in his grading and accuses people of cheating and/or plagiarising. Two assignments and one discussion and he always promotes HIS website.
STUDENTS BEWARE!! 20 MIN QUIZZES/25 QUESTIONS. Participation activity quizzes, and simulation quizzes per week. Two written assignments of 1,200 words each and one public opinion polling sheet with a discussion board. For the next 16 weeks, you will have nothing but chapters to read and quizzes to take.
This was one of the most difficult classes I've taken at Citrus. 25 questions in 20 minutes for tests and the tests sometimes had questions that were not covered. Some of the homework questions were marked wrong even though they were correct.
He doesnt use lecture style that often only when hes trying to cram information before a test. Otherwise, he expects you to read before class and then he has a conversation applying the things you learned from the reading. Similar to upper division focus on discussion. The only thing in the grade book is 4 tests. No quizzes no hw just tests 9/10
I highly do not recommend taking this class with him. I took it online and it was the worst experience Ive had. The answers to his quizzes are based on Insignificant information found deep within each paragraph in the textbook. This makes it difficult to achieve an A or a B in quizzes with only 20 minutes for 25 questions.
This class was tough! Questions on the weekly quizzes are very specific and allow only 1 min per. Quests on weekly assigns are extremely hard and the answers are NOT always located in course texts..I do not recommend taking this class if you are looking for an easy online course. This class def stressed me out! Be prepared to dedicate urself!
Took him for a condensed winter semester. Conversations in class were fun, but were often off topic. If you take his class, make sure to study the potential in-class essay questions and you should do decent on the tests. Just be careful as he is a stickler on attendance!
Honestly the worst class/professor ever. I took it online so of course there are going to be disadvantages but I wasn't even learning anything and I love politics, there was absolutely no effort in attempting to help you learn the material. Not only are assignments difficult to understand but you will get marked down for ridiculous things.
Well Peters, is a great professor but he is okay with the quizzes and discussions about the certain topics about the American government and the political system involved in police brutality and racism such as Black Lives Matters which can be another Civil Rights Movement.
I took his SUMMER 10 week class for Intro to Politics and Gov. He has very specific grading when it comes to chapter short answer questions with no rubric to follow. The reading is dense with 30 pages each chapter, 3 chapters a week. If taking another class during Summer or Winter be aware that you will not have any rest days. No easy A's here.
The worst professor he gave me bad grade on a perfect essay because he just wanted to do it I didnt learn anything in his class a lot of chapter quizzes.
I once shared some misinformed info to the class and he roasted me. Not in a mean way, but with a passionate urgency to be informed before taking part in democracy. I never got to thank him! He is dedicated to research based stats in his work with the American Presidency Presidency Project. He was unbiased, but sensical. Citrus HOF. - 2018 alumni
Make sure to know how to spell arrogance with an accent on privileged entitlement. A person who seems to possess high self esteem but probably really just a mask. There are definitely better options out there folks
Ive barely started this class in the winter session but I can tell its going to be a hard one. He states that zero late work will be accepted under any circumstances. While that is a understandable rule, we are remote learning in the middle of a pandemic. He has little to no empathy and doesnt have his students best interest in mind.
Doesn't give students late work and his quizzes are timed. I kind of understand why, but still, 30 mins is not enough time for me, even as an online class. I'm frantically flipping pages on my textbook trying to look at my notes, but that doesn't help at all. He shows no mercy. I guess it's time for me to do all-nighters every night.
Horrible professor . Dont suggest taking him at all . Small quizzes have a big impact on your grade. Take another professor.
He grades based on his opinion and his criteria for your short replies isn't clearly stated, "Factually you are correct, morally you aren't. Points deducted." Stated that short responses should be prompt with good grammar, but commented that he would have liked to see 4 to 5 more sentences with references even though I had already provided 6 to 7.
Worst experience ever. He is very hard-headed. I pointed out what I am sure was a mistake on the quiz and he brushed it off. He uses the smallest details in the reading and quizzes you on that. For the papers, he gives no rubric but presents it in a loose format with a few "suggestions" and then knocks off a grade for not taking his "suggestions".
So far worse class I have taken yet. Would NOT take this class. Quizzes are horrible and very difficult to pass with a good grade. Must read a lot, and remember random non-sense from the book. Too much detailed work to actually learn anything.
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS. He does not teach anything in class and you are expected to not only read the book but have every single sentence memorized for the quizzes and tests (which is all you are graded on btw, so if you get test anxiety, this is def not the class for you)
I'm a math major so i've taken some hard classes before. And 100% taking a math class is already hard but it's up to the professor if they want to make it harder. Political science isn't hard but I believe he made it harder than it had to be. I try to perform no matter what so I got a B+ in the class but I had to work just as hard as a math class
He's someone that has zero empathy and will be very nitpicky unnecessarily. He does not care if you fail. lots of his assignments are basedwordy questions that are meant to confuse you and off of his prior work not giving you much perspective on other point of views. Did not like paying out of pocket for this class at all.
Peters once screamed at me after class (bc I looked at my phone a few times to check if I had missed calls) &I started crying because it scared me & he said "there's no crying in baseball". He would also share his negative yelp reviews during class & yell down to the quad during fairs because they were too loud. No bathroom trips allowed.
If you are looking to destroy your GPA, take this guy! Never in my school career have I had an instructor that marks answers wrong when the question asks "what is your opinion on...". We all know the Know-It-All types, this guy thinks he knows everything. With all these 1's, I cannot believe he still has a job!
His project assignments are challenging but rewarding; he's a nice guy and I liked his class but he is absolutely inflexible on late assignments (which he says in his syllabus, to be fair). Textbook and quizzes were boring, but the project assignments were really interesting (but require a lot of writing).
I was worried about taking this class because of this website, however, passing this class was easy and professor Peters is easy to learn early on. Take his practice quizzes and study the flash cards and the tests become so much easier.
Going to lectures and taking the practice tests before taking the exams will get you an A. He ties in a lot of the lecture content directly into the exams. All you have to do is pay attention in lecture and you'll do good. Professor Peters is very knowledgeable and I learned more in his class than any other class I have taken in college thus far.
This professor is very crucial, and particular in your responses. His turnaround response it great, but if your not ready to take Poli and learn about it don't take an online course or choose another professor.
please do not take this class during the summer, especially with him. Just expects a lot from us even though it's a 6-week course, he has us do about 7-9 short quizzes each week as well as 1-3 30-minute chapter quizzes AND discussion posts. Truthfully do not take this course if you are working or do not care for the topic.
If your looking for a prof who will teach you almost nothing about Political Science but will teach you a lot about his personal life and opinions, Peters is the guy for you! It was an in-person class but I had to teach myself the subject from the textbook. He is also a harsh grader which is super fun considering he doesn't actually teach much.
Tough grader, he expects students to have the same level of knowledge as he does, even though he might have studied political science or government related topics since he was younger. No matter how hard you try, your explanation on simulation quiz or even on essays are never enough for him. You will regret it as I do if you take him!
Never have I had a teacher mark me incorrect on a question prompted, "What do you think..." VERY STRICT GRADER. Be prepared to essentially fail his class. With this course being online, I've found that rather than learning, this class has become a stress fest of getting the NUMEROUS assignments done and PRAYING that I get a sufficient grade.
Very biased individual with what he puts out and expects his students to have same level of knowledge he does, also an extremely difficult grader. had a 69.95 in his class at the end of his semester and he would not round it for the life of him. his assignments are also weighed unfairly. Students who are online who want to take this class, don't.
Worst instructor ever. I had to file a complaint to the dean halfway through the semester about his ignorance. The very next day he filed a plagiarism against me for a 6 point assignment the first week of class. He will retaliate against you if you speak to other students about him. Does not respond to emails. Started with 45 students ended with 9.
Nitpicks too much and makes it so hard to do well in the class. If you want a good grade and you're thinking of taking this online course, don't.
It was difficult to deal with this professor since their communication was mainly wanting the student to refer back to the syllabus. Taking this course has also made me realize that on questions when the professor asks for your opinion, he refers back to the textbook. Professor also doesn't use the Canvas Calendar so you can't tell what is due.
Take his class if you want to ruin your gpa! First week I had 3 missing assignments because he doesn't post the due dates on the canvas calendar. If it's not perfect he won't give full score, if it is perfect i bet he STILL wouldn't give full credit. He will saying ANYTHING is plagiarized. Still in his class but I wish I had dropped it when I could
I'm glad this website exists so I can warn others about this individual. Workload is light, but he will NEVER be satisfied with your papers. You're always missing something he "hoped" you would have added to your work. I've been going to the writing center to improve the grades on my papers. It doesn't work. Don't take him if you care about ur GPA.
This professor is a tough grader who expects a lot. Take this class only if you're really interested in the subject - the workload is heavy, especially for an online course. Unstuck AI can be a lifesaver for studying and preparing.
I hope professors care about feedback because all these students say the same thing, student reviews are important and we students' voices matter. Teachers are not perfect but having a growth mindset is what I think we should all expect from them. DO better.
Not a fair with grading, very harsh if you add anything that's an opinion, and he also doesn't utilize canvas well so it's hard to stay on top of due dates especially if you have other classes. Professors like him should be avoided, you will not learn anything from his online course.
Please to people taking his course onli
This professor is unbearable. Very difficult, tedious, busy work. Created assignments not from the curriculum just to show off his presidents website. Very annoying. 10/10 would not recommend. However, I think he is one of the only professors that teaches 103 and the other professors class fills up fast.
I think he may have a soft spot for the international relations class because one can tell of his affinity to this topic and of the resulting negative reviews for his other classes. The discussions were boring and he went off on tangents but he was never rude or unprofessional. You will do blue books for this class. Tests are not hard if you study.
Doesn't care for his students. Maybe if your a politician in congress you'd get an A .
Professor Peters teaching style is hands-off No lectures or real instruction just readings and assignments. Feedback isn't helpful for learning it just points out mistakes. Doesn't put due dates in canvas says it makes you engage with syllabus it's just makes it harder than it needs to be.
Yea wouldnt take him
this teacher has a weird way to grade and does way to much to be honest for a online class wouldnt take him
