Horrible teacher!Shouldn't be teaching!
She's not bad! She pretty good! You just have to come to class everyday and ask questions! She answers all questions asked; very helpful, understanding and lets you retake test if you score bad! and there's no way you could fail this class, she easy trust me!!!
Worst teacher I ever had and probably will ever have. VERY HARD, does not make anything clear how she wants it, its her way or the highway. I advise everyone NOT TO TAKE HER CLASS. You will regret it if you do!!!!

She babbles on and has horible handwriting, gives way to may packets and has too high of standards. Shes crazy but she tries to be helpful but when you pay money for your first college class you dont want help becoming a world famous author you want to pass the class and stat off with a good GPA but not any more.

After the second class, i was already way behind in the material. Then again, so was the rest of the class. After reading her ratings on this website,i withdrew from the class after about 2 weeks. Apparently i made a good decision because almost all the poor souls that stayed failed.Save yourselves and run from this woman! Withdrawl if u still can!

WARNING!!!The most horrible and unfair teacher I've ever had!!! She'll give you only bad grades and do all she can to fail you!!! I regret so much that I didn't drop her class on time, (almost all my other class mates did). For final exam she gave us so many pages of test that no body could possibly finish in over 2 hrs. RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!!!
she is terrible, she has no clue what she is talking about most of the time and she is very rude too. she doesn't take anybodys opinion and will give you a bad grade if you don;t agree with her even when she is wrong. don't take her class out of 35 people in the class,only 4 of them finished and i was the ONLY ONE taht passed. run away!!!!!!!
Insane....Probably a brilliant writer, and the most incompetent teacher I've ever had. Gave us a test, asked us why we were taking so long, and then remembered she hadn't taught the lesson yet. Want more?? I had a private conference with her 3 months into the semester and she hadn't graded a single essay yet! Very spiteful, holds grudges.
All these comments below me are all TRUE! i REGRET not dropping her class! I have always been good in english, and i got a D! Only 4 people were left in my class, and i was dumb for being one of them! WARNING: DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! and if you're in it, then WITHDRAW! horrible teacher, she's the worse teacher I've ever had.
She was willing to sit with you outside of class but when you are in class she is really on a roll!!! She does not slow down for anyone and if you do not understand she does not go over it again. It is crazy and I wish I dropped the class like more than half the class did.
She is very punctual on time and attendance. She knows her material very well, but if you don't put your time and effort into the course then don't plan on taking her. She often teaches as if you already know the material, but she is willing to bend over back wards to help you. She is tuff, go to lab and take notes there along with her lectures.
If you feel like taking a sledge hammer to your GPA take this course! A couple words sum up the course, spiteful, unclear, unstable, contradicting, alzheimers?!?
She is a horrible teacher. The stuff she is teaching in Enc1101 is rediculous. She must think it is an honors class, anyone I spoke to who didn't have her, when I told them the work they were puzzled as to why. I withdrew from the class rather than getting an F. By the 3rd week I would say that maybe half the classes withdrew. She is horrible!

She is a hard teacher but flexible with grading. Has a genuine interest in her students learning the material. She is always available when one needs extra help.
She is a very nice teacher when she is speaking, but she is also the hardest teacher I have ever seen. You can take her if you want to be bored and failed the class.

I must say that even though I tried to remain positive and really made an effort, this professor is horrible! She teaches as tough you should already know the material and is HARSH when grading. Do not expect to get a A or even a B in this class. Most people fail assignments! The time limits, will make you dread writing. She needs to stop teaching!
Just a plain bad teacher. No structure and lack of clarity.
Makes english very difficult by using strange examples. Started the class with about thirty students now im one of seven left. But if you suck up and pretend like you care should pass with a C or better.

Probably an excellent writer, not the greatest professor. came off as very sarcastic and dull, and stayed that way the whole semester. Grades very harsh.. Many students dropped the class, everyone disliked her. CRITICIZES THE TEXTBOOK. However, she will let you redo essays, and she is willing to help you in any way possible.. not so bad after all.

Please do your self the favor and not take any english class with her if you have not motivation. She gives a lot of work, and puts you under a lot of pressure that you don't even learn anything. Especially for summer term every class you will have an essay and WOW I don't know what else to say about this class. I think she cares a little but......

English is my best subject and I have always gotten A's on my papers until this class. I don't think I got anything over a D. She makes you do a ton of pointless homework which she never hands back and her tests were impossible. People starting dropping like flies in her class and I joined them for the fear of failing. I figured I was the only feeling the heat from this Professor. Talk about a serious teacher no amusement. She definitely expects too much. The test are very difficult, haven't received anything higher than a D. I would have dropped ASAP but missed deadline. Transfer her class for higher GPA!

Exceptional amount of homework for an entry level english class.
STAY AWAY!!! DROP HER IF YOU SIGNED UP!!! Not a very good teacher. She uses the handouts that she made copies of (hard to read). That is what your final is made up of to. She makes you write your easys in class thay r timed.When she grades yor papers she writes all over them. You cant even read her handwriting.
This woman sets out to fail students. Her test are un-timed with no instructions and a few mins after you get it she staerts hurrying you to complete it. She acts like she is there to help you until the third week, when she lets you know that you will never get an A in her class and that you might get a C. I you have her drop it save your money.
I feel bad for anyone that is in her class and that remains in it. If you are smart quickly drop this professor and find another teacher prior to all the classes filling up. Professor Eckhous is a very knowledgeable and intellectual woman. She explains the lessons well and is always willing to meet with her students in her office. If you are interested and serious about learning, professor Eckhous will guide and help you with anything you may need. I highly recommend her. I got an A in her class. She is great!
gives too much work, makes students write essays every week. helpful outside of class, allows rewriting of essays before she grades them. time limits too strict, mostly during final exam. i scrambled to finish, others in my class turned in their final incomplete.
i think this teacher thinks to highly of her self. teaches like we at the masters level instead of enc1101. really think she wanted to be a writer but never got a break and now her students are paying for it.

Eckhous is absolutely ridiculous. She doesn't teach, she dicates on how to write her way. She writes all over your papers, makes you re-write them only to write all over them again & not even give you grade. Plus she waits til the 3rd to last week to give you your research topics. She is seriously insane and should not be teaching beginning english

i don't know how i passed that class, but i did. 99% of students will get f's in her class. she writes all over your paper. trust me it's badddddddd everywhereeeee. she is smart knows her stuff. english is my second language and i got a c, but it's not easy..
This is the truth. This class is not easy. I always rewrite my essays, dedicated 4 hours each week outside of class,was in her office at least twice a week to discuss my essay.She is extremely smart and knows english. I passed with an A but I litterally almost ignore my other classes and dedicated 85 percent of my time to her class. Good luck.

HORRIBLE! I wrote an essay in class and asked her to read it over before i turned it in. she told me what was wrong with it, and I fixed everything she said to fix. I got my essay back and she marked what she said wrong! I got an F on it. Do yourself a favor and get a different teacher. I liked writing before I took her class, and now I hate it.

She is the worst professor I ever had. Her class is almost impossible to pass. Essays every week. Impossible tests and class work. Shell give you an hour and a half to do a test. She'll tear apart every word of every sentence you write. She will not inform you of your grades and only give you back half of your work. Do Not Take her class!
I attended every class, completed my 5 lab hours, went an hour early before every class for extra help, re-wrote every essay 2x's and yet she still failed me!! She is the worst teacher. Please don't waste your money or time! The class started out with 30 students and every week quickly dropped until we were down to 9 students.
All of these comments are unfortunately very true.She is a very nice and VERY intelligent, but if you are a full-time working student you will NOT pass. She starts class 10 min early and keeps you late, she also demands you to make an appointment during the week. Her handwriting is unreadable, and she is very unorganized.

She is a very nice and helpful person if you go to her office hours. Her grading is ridiculously harsh but I found that her grading helped me become a better writer/student. She looks for unbiased, grammatically correct, and well developed papers. She gives students opportunities to rewrite papers too. If you are up for a challenge then try her.
She's horrible! For instance, I asked her a question today and she told me that she wasn't going to answer it until after she was done with the lesson. And then when she is done, she says it's taking too much time for asking questions. She doesn't teach things well. I wished I would've know about this site before I entered her class!

While the curriculum work in very easy, she takes forever to explain anything. She treats the class like a high school class, and she undermines your intelligence. I really did not enjoy her class.
Great sense of humor very polite and nice. but her voice in very soft and monotone. hard to listen and takes too long to explain, she is very helpful offering time for you out of class but she grades extremely hard and you never know what you get in heer class till the end. i had to drop out i refused to fail

Disappointed. Unrealistic expectations (on teachers part) I do my work (all of it), but unless you like to spend all you(r) time on learning the lesson you should be learning in class already, and prefer a hands on tutoring environment, I strongly recommend not to take this womans' class. She has issues. 100.
impossible to understand her handwriting. disorganized; many opportunities she couldn't find our homework or handouts. her corrections are impossible to read. classes are boring. she asks way much more that you can do. no time to process all the info. i dropped & now am with a new teacher. if you like composition, you won't anymore in her classes
Let me put this nicely, a 2.0 average is a high ass rating for her. She doesn't even deserve a 1.0 I'd give her a total 0. She is unorganized, treats everyone like idiots and after giving you a paper back insists that you go meet with her so she can explain what her chicken scratch means on even then she doesn't help. My class went from 30-5 people
She's such a horrible teacher! She does not teach well nor does she talk to her students as if they are college students. She does not care one bit if anyone fails her class! And I think she likes to see people fail for her enjoyment...
despite her sometimes being nice, she is not meant to be a teacher. she makes you write in good handwriting when hers is impossible to interpret. no matter how well you do,she will say "you could have done better on this or that..." she never really agress with ones writing.
Took her for 1101 and she was horrible. Nice, but horrible. Class was 3 hr long and kept us to the last second and sometimes tried to make us stay longer. Dreaded going to this class.
To be completely honest, Professor Eckhous is a really nice professor and she is really helpful. Her comments might seem a bit harsh, but she only writes the comments to make you a stronger writer! Because of her, I now love to write even more than I did before.
