Ghada is a super sweet lady who is a good solid choice for Arabic 1. She can be a little unclear at times, but if you ask questions she will always elaborate. Gives a lot of notice before tests and quizzes and you'll never be surprised at the content. Reasonable workload.

Professor Badawi is the best when it comes to teaching Arabic. The vocabulary might require some independent study/memorization but the grammar concepts are pretty easy to learn.

Started learning Arabic from Prof Badawi and I've gone out of my way to remain in her section ever since. She is incredibly kind, understanding, and helpful.

As a person with no Arabic background, I can now read and write in Arabic and it is thanks to her teaching style and feedback. I absolutely loved having Ghada as a professor. She is so kind and sweet but simultaneously makes you work hard. She genuinely wants all of her students to actually learn Arabic. There is pretty much homework everyday and you are expected to study everyday. Don't take this class if you're not willing to put in the effort into learning Arabic.

Ghada is an amazing professor who does everything she can to make sure her students are learning the material as well as possible. I was skeptical about taking a language class online, let alone Arabic, but Ghada adjusted her course to work SO WELL online. You definitely have to show up and be ready to dive in, but youll never get left behind!

Ghada is an excellent professor. Her curriculum adjustment to online university has made me feel like no progress has been lost. She gives a lot of really great feedback and is always willing to go over things multiple times if she feels the class is struggling. She's also great at incorporating students' feedback in making the class better.

Ghada is AMAZING. She really cares about her students, and Arabic unexpectedly became my favorite class this semester. She really made the class great despite the difficulty of Zoom (bringing in real Arabic news sources to read, having us present on poets, sending super helpful videos, hosting cultural events) was super helpful and meant a lot.

Wonderful professor! She is so kind and really works with you to make sure you understand the material! Her class is heavy on preparation and homework, but if you follow her directions, it is definitely manageable! Highly recommend.

The adjustment to remote learning didn't change the fact that the class was still stimulating. Ghada is great and I would recommend taking her!

Prof Badawi has been the best language instructor I have had and her methods of teaching will ensure you do well and improve. Her resources are really helpful and clear. She is always available after class to discuss any issues or problems that you're having. Language classes are usually my least enjoyable classes but it was great with Prof Badawi.

Presents material in a digestible, yet thorough way.

She has the strongest command on teaching that I have seen in a lang. teacher. Breaks down difficult concepts into piecemeal videos and assignments to make them super clear. You have to revise everyday, but she adjusts her syllabus/gives us a break from Zoom to prevent things from being too overwhelming. Always willing to answer questions!

Her class is one of the best classes I have ever taken at NYU. She cares for her students a lot and she is so organized. If you need help all you have to do is ask and she will help. Yet she was able to create a community online for us and hold us all accountable with our Arabic study without causing undue stress. I cannot recommend her enough. Challenging class filled with vocab-rich authentic readings -- you must prepare before every single class or it will definitely show. But if you do the work then you will learn a lot! Ghada is also a very caring person who will definitely make time to write you recommendation letters, etc. Would take again!

Ustadha Badawi is an amazing person and professor. I started the class with 0 knowledge of the language, but she made sure I could keep up with the pacing of the class. Her PowerPoint slides were immensely helpful as they included audio recordings for every topic we covered. She cares for her students and is always happy to help. 100% recommend!!

Ghada was a very good professor. The class was structured in a way that flowed very well and the PowerPoint presentations in particular were very helpful. My only critique is that at times I felt her teaching style might've been better suited for high school students, but that being said I would definitely take her class again.

Professor Badawi is an easily accessible resource outside of class and she is very accommodating with respect to grading and assignments. The course itself requires that some effort be put in, but it is not an intense course at all. Adhering to the covered material in the class notes and textbooks is enough to succeed. There are no surprises.

This was probably my favorite class Ive taken at NYU. Ustada Ghada has a great classroom instruction method. The class is focused on truly learning rather than tough grading. Professor is also here for you if you need any help. As long as you attend class everyday and keep up with the homework, should be an easy class!

Professor Ghada is an immensely caring and helpful person. She genuinely wants her students to learn, and puts less emphasis on grades and rather, more emphasis on working as a team. The content is not easy if you don't keep up, but she gives many extra-credit quizzes for you to boost your grade.

Professor Badawi was very good at teaching Arabic, she went slow in the beginning and made sure everyone understood the basics which helped a lot when we went into some harder topics. Her teaching style was effective and it was shocking to see how fast the results were, I was able to read Arabic paragraphs around a month into the class.

This is a very difficult class - but that's expected as it's a graduate level course. However, Ghada is one of the best professors I've ever had. I was going through a lot personally this semester but she did not add any undue stress and was very flexible with due dates. However, if you don't participate, it'll show. The homework and studying can be time consuming, but the professor is very helpful in her feedback and explaining anything you have questions on. The class is pretty easy if you memorize the vocab and learn the alphabet early on.

I had a fun time in the class as well with things like the culture portfolio and calligraphy workshop.

The class hit the sweet spot of being well-structured toward concrete goals without being perfectionist or strict.

I took ustaaza Badawi for Advanced Arabic and it was an amazing experience. She notices the effort you put into class, makes her classes and projects engaging, and is extremely caring. You need to commit yourself to the course material but it's worth it and pays off. Homework is very manageable and there are only a few quizzes/exams with projects.

Class does not have major exams, allowed 3 absences. Material can be a bit hard at times but she is always willing to help.
