Not consistant when marking essays. Incredibly easy exams and class work, yet weirdly difficult essay grades. Better suited for jr high teaching.
This prof is very understanding and has a great set up for being able to re-edit your essays and get 10% more. However, she is very hard to understand and is not clear at all. Expect to do alot of reading in this class for very little marks. FOr her tests she expect ALL material she has given you to be read and understood. Very boring classes.
She is truly a princess. Very approachable, genuinely cares about her students and truly loves what she teaches. Couldn't say a bad thing about her ....except that she is a very difficult marker. Almost a bit unfair. But a wonderful teacher and if you've heard otherwise you've been misinformed.
"One of the better ones, but you have to completely rewrite it to get a grade" WTF?!
Can't mark an essay! Hard to understand. Unless your a girl that sits at the front and sucks up to her you will hate the class. Stay at home, or go to the bar. Doesn't update WebCT (she doesn't even know how to work a computer...)
Doesn't understand english. Marking style is different every day, every essay. The person writing she is a "princess" must be a relative or something. You never know how she will mark an essay so you will not know how to write one, in the "expected" fashion she wants
Ghaida is a very good teacher. She tries to make things interesting and relevant to us. She is a hard marker, but she does help you if you go to her.
an excellent prof. She cares about her students.
I've never seen such an english teacher she'll do anything to help her students this i sthe first time i feel that english isnt extremely hard as long as u stat caught up she is the BEST
She is very helpful and one of the best.
very nice and has a wonderful sense of humor. she is very opne and cares about her students. a very good teacher
This is a full year course that could be condensed into one semester. Most of our time is wasted watching movies, or learning things that we'll never be tested on. She's very sweet and easy to get along with. But you could miss 3 weeks straight and be on the same page as everybody else. Also, buy the novels, not the work books.
Doesnt help her students, she pretends u dont exist in class. She never replied to one of my emails and some essays that are worth nothing u ace and when they are worht alot she isnt shy of giving a 20% or lower i dunno how a teacher can be so cruel.
Impossible to write a 80% essay. Expect 15% lower grades than what you usually get. Very inconsistent. Nice lady, cherful, happy, but very inconsistent and hard to understand. Boring classes.
she is very helpful and understanding and always tries very hard to make class interesting
What a caring prof! She maybe for some is a harder marker, but if you go to her she will help you. Very passionate about English
Well structured classes. She loves grammar!
Well structured classes.
she is not that helpful if u ask her for help about something. hard marker, i personally would not take a class with her again!
She is IN LOVE with english. Genuinely does not understand why students are not in love with all the poetry and stories, but she is really nice. Takes a long time to mark. Participate and you will do better!!!
She is very passionate and knowlegeable and very helpful.
Wow, I thought you needed to speak english properly to teach it. She couldnt pronounce a word in a book so she just skipped it. Unreal hard for marking and expect about 4 grammar tests. Thank god i dont have to take English anymore!
Takes FOREVER to return papers and marks. Forever. And a rediculous marker, at that.
Very passionate and fair. She is easy to understand and takes time to explain things. Very clear on what she expects in her assignments.
Very nice professor. She takes the time to explain the material and is a very fair marker. Enjoyed her class.
Very good prof! Really cares about her students and she makes it fun to come to class. Easy class.. highly recommend Ghaida!
Well I've been waiting 3 weeks now for my first essay to get marked. I have another essay due next week but I have no feedback or anything on my last assignment! So I'm not too impressed so far. I'm just doing an online course so I can't judge anything else but she has been soooo slow.
She is bad at teaching.
Terrible instructor. I took this course online and it was challenging to get timely feedback. Unfortunately the feedback was never received in time for exams or quizzes, thus mistakes were made twice. Very tough marker. There was no leniency in her marking whatsoever. I would opt out of taking a course with this instructor.
She is an excellent instructor. She very clearly explains course concepts, often going over the same thing multiple times. Also, the material and literature she uses for class demonstrations is tasteful.
Decent teacher; fairly hard marker on papers. If you wanna get through the class: show up to majority of the classes she has quite a bit of handouts and only gives them out once, she loves suck ups so speak up in class, follow her assignment guidelines to a T. She uses the textbook with the stories a ton. She takes forever to hand assignments back.
Ghaida is a good approachable instructor. However, when it gets to learning material she is constantly behind with her vital feedback. She did however focus on specifics and details of proper writing. Final essay was complicated, there was no time to finish it properly. Ideas and discussions are important. Don't take it online.
She is helpful, but marks very tough. I miss ONE thing, and she gives me 70's. I did ok in her class, but I could have done better, if she marked less tough. Or, business writing is not my thing.
Ghaida is sweet and funny but her class expectations are high and extreme. Class average was low throughout the semester. She is unclear and hard to understand when giving instructions. She is huge on grammar and punctuation and will fail you just because of them. I'm relieved to have completed this class, I would not recommend her.
Best prof I've ever had. Very cooperative and extremely understanding, wonderful personality. I always went to her office hours and asked her to edit my essays and tell me how I could improve. She tells you what you can do to get an A. Exams are very similar to lectures. She actually made English fun. Put in the effort and you'll do really well.
She's a very approachable instructor and goes out of her way to help.
She was an okay teacher.. She is very unreliable with e-mails. As well as when she says she's going to post marks by a certain day, don't believe her. Chances are, she's going to do it the morning before your next class with her.
worst teacher no reply to emails partiality with English students
She's not straight forward at all. I did not have the best attendance but does not mean you treat me differently, I felt a tension. Takes forever to mark. Shows so much unnecessary videos.
Ghaida is a wonderful, very encouraging instructor. She helped me improve my writing and was available to meet.
I enjoyed her class. She cares about her students and really want to help. I showed her my work before the due dates and she gave me valuable feedback.
Ghaida is passionate and tries hard to make things interesting. This was my second class with her. She really cares about her students and listen to them.
I like the way Ghaida teaches. She gives examples and has all her handouts online. The assignments are clear and she really is passionate about English. She is willing to help and let you revise some assignments for better grades.
Ghaida genuinely cares about her students and was always available outside class to help. I liked her sense of humour. Would recommend her class.
I enjoyed Ghaida's classes. She made English classes fun and easy and was always available for help.
Ms. Naeem's assignments are very clear and her exams are clearly laid out and explained. I really enjoyed her classes and benefited from her comments on assignments.
She is quite a hard marker, but obviously cares for all her students. She wants the best for eveyone and I would definitely take her again.
Could not garner classroom attention to save her life. Grades way too hard for an introductory English class and pushes her agenda for more than half the class. Highly not recommended.
Even though she was extremely nice, her grading was harsh with very little feedback. She never uploaded grades when she said she would. Lectures were okay but didnt feel necessary in order to do well. She does not like tests so she made the midterm only worth 10% compared to papers being worth 25% or 15%. Overall she was decent.
Very unreliable, took forever to get our assignments back, forgot them multiple times, even forgot our midterm and didn't realize till we had all sat down and were waiting for her to pass it out. Cares about her students, very friendly, and approachable but does not give good feedback and takes days to respond to emails.
Seems nice, give low grade,
Boring class
Ghaida is definitely one of the best profs Ive had for english, and Im not the strongest at writing. She doesnt make you purchase any reading materials, and she has very straightforward assignments. She is also always willing to extend due dates. The only negative is that she marks pretty slow, but its not a huge deal.
Her classes were a waste of time, so boring. She's out of touch but acts like she's cool. She kept saying graded papers would be online at the end of the week but they never were. UNRELIABLE
I don't consider myself an exceptional writer but I got decent grades in this class. She's also willing to help out and tell you how to improve your writing before submission. Very caring and considerate, made the class a total breeze for me. Only downside is that she's a little slow on marking but other than that, I 100% would recommend
I am an accounting student, so English is not really forte. Ghaida made the course very manageable with only 3 major assignments, some in class quizzes, and a final. She was very approachable when you needed help and was always willing to extend due dates. I dont understand why she has some bad reviews, I highly recommend!
Prof is flexible and is very understanding when you find that you need an extension. Very kind and respectful, willing to help. Grammar quizzes are not so fun but are used to help you learn and they are worth 15 percent of your grade. Essays are reasonable, you get time to do them and she explains them well.
She is fantastic about extending deadlines and getting back to questions via email in a timely manner. However, by the time I submitted my final paper I had only received 2 out of 8 grades so I had no way of knowing what I was doing wrong or what I needed to improve on.
such an easy class, but poorly organized. She didn't email us and tell us what to expect for the week we were expected to read modules between a certain time. There was 5 essays, but only required to write at least 2. She responded to emails fast. Discussion boards were used a lot and counted for a grade.
Stated multiple times we would have marks and there was zero follow through; by end of term I had only two grades with minimal feedback. Minimal instructions for assignments and no marking rubrics. She is available via email and you can tell she wants students to succeed.
Doing online with Ghaida feels impossible. I've had written assignments since February that have not been marked, which is really frustrating because I don't know what I'm doing right or wrong for future assignments. I even emailed her to rush her a bit and she hasn't even responded. Also, there are mandatory participation assignments. So annoying.
Professor Naeem was kind and her class was relatively easy so long as you read instructions and completed assignments. The only issue I had with her was that we had several short summary essays due throughout the semester, and she didn't finish grading the first one until after the due dates for the others. Because of this, we couldn't fix errors.
She hasn't given me back my grades since February. It's now April, I'm going into the final exam with no idea of what my grade is, even after I've given her multiple emails reminding her I need to know those marks. I would not recommend taking her class
She's a really good professor and is easily accessible. There's no lectures or live classes but her outline and blackboard are so organized you can go through it all without feeling overwhelmed. She grades fairly and does allow extensions if you need it. The book was given for free but I barely used it. Takes a minute to be graded but undertandable
Ghaida made English class easy for me. Whenever I asked for feedback on my essays, she would leave comments the next day. She doesn't post many recorded lectures online, but she is straightforward with her assignment pages. She's an easy marker, but she takes forever to hand back marks.
She is honestly a great prof, just listen to her and you will pass the class.
She takes FOREVER to mark assignments. Going into the April final I had completed 3 essays in and only one of them was marked. There was no feedback and she did not reply to emails. The course had a TON of reading, and you are marked on essays only. Overall it is an extremely boring but fairly easy class if you do the required reading.
Ghaida is a great professor, however, she takes FOREVER to get things marked.
If you want feedback on your papers, or even know where you stand in the class, then I would avoid Ghaida. I'm sure she means well, and it's clear that she loves English but my god, the term is almost done, and my class only has one mark back w/o any feedback even after asking countless times for it. Could be a one off, but not a good experience.
Does not give you your grades back or any feedback on past assignments, the term is done and I still do not know the mark I have. Honestly do not take her, the assignments were unclear and class time isn't used effectively. You do 3 quizzes that are 5 % each, they are like grade 9 sentance quizzes so thats an easy 15 percent.
Ghaida is good because she marks fairly easy but let me tell you I only received two grades so far and it's December 19!!. She does not answer emails at all and when she does it's redundant. She marks very very slow if you like updates on your mark please don't take her class but if you want someone who marks fair you can take her.
Ghaida Naeem does not know how to use Meskanas. She admits that she has difficulty using it and blames the lack of work being returned on it. I got my final grade for the term, and she also put that in wrong. Until a few days ago, I had only received my mark back for one paper I wrote when I had written 3 in total. She is completely unorganized
Ghaida is a very kind, charming and witty teacher however you don't get a little t of opportunity to improve with the lack of feedback and grading. I did my final with only one assignment graded to know where I needed to improve. I still don't know why I got the mark I did on my last assignment..
Ghaida is lovely but her classes leave a lot to be desired. Loved the premise of the class but never received grades, tests or feedback back! I was walking in blindly and hoping I passed. My final grade was like a jack in the box surprise... She blamed it on the new system and maybe but you left your students scrambled and stressed.
Ghaida is amazing!! she is the sweetest and she tries to motivate you to love English! she explains everything so so well and always makes sure you understand!!! definitely take her for 103!
Very easy class, and has easy papers. She is very funny. One bad thing is that she takes forever to give marks back, but would still take her class again.
She's really nice and a good prof don't get me wrong... but man she takes forever to mark assignments and give them back. I handed in an essay on February 2nd and it's now March 8th and I have still yet to receive it. I don't know how I'm doing at all and we have another essay due soon... she is makes lectures interesting tho. Would not take again!
She is a nice professor, she tries her hardest to create a fun environment with her class but she doesn't use Meskanas for hand ins and need your work to be in physical copies. Her class attendance is mandatory, she tries to give extra marks for essays with class activities but since her class can be dry not a lot of students come.
Ghaida could be a bit of a tough grader and like others remark, she does take some time to grade papers, but overall her class was very enjoyable. Participate in class and get group discussions going - you'll gain a lot from it and Ghaida adapts convo to the topic at hand. Lots of smaller assignments build up to an end of term paper, though.
Ghaida Naeem's grading style is notably strict, often lacking feedback on essays. Waiting extended periods for grades and encountering self-teaching situations was common. The absence of guidance during the final essay made it challenging. While I succeeded, many might struggle; I'd recommend steering clear of this professor.
Ghaida is very passionate in what she teaches, although her course work does NOT align with her course assignments. Her assignments are very miss leading and can be a struggle to work through. I also find she has issues with answering her emails. She never gets back to you on time.
The class is now done, and i have not got a single grade back for any of my papers! I've also sent her countless emails to which not a single one has been responded to. She is a little nice with due dates though, if the whole class wanted she would push it back a couple days. - Complete opposite of tech savvy - Slow grader -
Ghaida's assignments are quite easy to do, but they might be confusing if you do not ask questions in class/after class. For me she took the whole sem to grade a few assignments and she likes to procrastinate when marking or changing marks for her students. Her class is super easy though just follow the directions of the assignment.
ENG 105 was not an option. But if you are considering taking 105 with her, NO. You should respect yourself and your time. There is over 40+ readings to complete during the semester, multiple during the week. She does not give feedback or marks in-time for the actual final, and when you ask her, she dismisses you.
While I enjoyed her class and thought she was on point during class, like so many others it was frustrating to not receive grades back before the end of the semester. Class attendance was very sparse as at least 50% didn't show up each class but the assignments were reasonable, she was generous with extensions.
Such a passionate prof. Honestly she has helped me learn so much. She lays out the assignments for our class SO clearly, it's almost impossible to fail. She wants you to succeed and it shows. Course is WRIT 101 not listed
For Ghaida's ENGL 105 class. Super nice prof and tries to get the class to be engaged in discussion. Extremely slow marker. I am going into the final with one graded essay that has no feedback attached. She does give the final essay topic beforehand and often pushed back deadlines for the class. I probably wouldn't take one of her classes again.
Lots of readings, this course is not difficult if you are a strong writer. We wrote our final and she is yet to grade 2 of our essays and majority of our assignments. Does not provide much feedback or a rubric tends to be very unclear in expectations. A great person, very kind and not an extremely difficult marker.
I really enjoyed Ghaida's classes, she was an excellent prof with entertaining and engaging lectures. I found, like most reviews on here, she took so long to mark. Our final grades were posted a week AFTER the final deadline. Overall, still a great prof just procrastinated grading.
She is very nice! She genuinely cares about her job and students. Attendance is not mandatory, but she often says important things in class and clarifies assignment criteria. Only negative is that it takes her a looong time to release marks for heavier weighted assignments.
She is a terribly slow grader. I have had to write every assignment without any feedback to go off of as I have not received any of my grades back and it is nearing the end of the semester. I have asked her about the grades multiple times and she gives excuses, I have also emailed her a few times to which I got no response. I would not recommend
She's very nice and approachable. Attendance isn't mandatory, but some classes help with assignment clarification. No midterms or finals just quizzes and assignments. She's a veryyyyyy slow marker, classes are over and half our grades aren't given, barely any feedback. If you stress about slow grading and no feedback, I wouldn't recommend.
