Doesn't clearly explain methods and reasoning, CANNOT speak understandable english, or be loud enough to be heard. Maybe he's nervous? At any rate, I end up having to read the whole math chapter anyway to make sense of what he wrote on the board. I feel as if I'm teaching myself more than he is teaching me...
you cant even understand the guy!!!!!
This teacher is very hard to understand. He expects everyone to know what he is talking about. His notes and examples are confusing and unclear. You have to read on your own to know the chapter. Does a really bad job on explaining any examples.
doesn't understand you very well when you try and talk to him. The homework might seem easy, but when you get the grade you notice all the random points he takes off.
Hard time understanding what he is saying in class. I would have to read the chapter each day after class to know what i needed to know. Not very helpful in questions on homework.
Isn't helpful at all if you ask him a question. Grades terribly, takes off points for some of the dumbest things i've ever seen.
Some stupied ****s may attack him. He is one of the most healpful teachers I have ever seen. He lets you ask question. He solves every question in the class. He is flaxable on exams day and due times of homework and even quizes.the only thing I know is he speaks with very low volume. He is knowledgeble; he knows the material.I suggesthim 4 U
I had him for Calc 2. If you're a person who can grasp the concepts of Calc 2, and you can understand him through his accent (which I happened to find not too difficult)...then he is an excellent instructor. He follows the book so he is very predictable if you want to skip a day or two. But he grades a small percentage on attendance. Mostly I f
i can't understand this teacher. he grades unfairly and basically he isn't much fun at all
Adds his own style of solving the mathematics, which is different than the textbook; making the concepts difficult and confusing to understand.
By far the worst class i have had at normandale. He may be helpful if you can understand him, and whats up with that attendance thing, i think its highly unfair to expect someone to sit through a class where they are trying to understand some slightly complex concepts and at the same time have to understand the words he is saying.
Ghidei clearly knows his stuff, but he seems to have a hard time communicating his ideas to the group. He seems shy or nervous in front of the class. Has a subtle sense of humor that most people miss. I find that I agree with an earlier comment - I ended up mostly teaching myself (which, considering that this was College Algebra was fine). Passable
He's really quiet but is very understanding and makes sure everyone gets the concepts of the chapter before moving on. Gives a bi-weekly quiz and his assignments are only 15 problems. His exams are only 30 questions and as long as you show work, you'll get points no matter what. Attendance is 10% of your grade, so going to class does matter.
He knows the stuff but he is not a giver, plus its hard to understand him and he is greedy 4 partial credits. He dont follow the book. "Do not take with him" or you'll get a bad grade!!!!!Bad Teacher!!!!!
I had Dr. Zedingle for 2 classes. He seems a lil bit tuff at first, but I found him very helpful n he knows the subject very well.HE is very serious with attendance, if u r hard worker he would be more than happy to help u. However, if u r expecting spoon feeding try another teacher. I recommend you Dr. Zedingle if u r hardworker. Goodluck.
Ghidei knows what he is teaching and he is very helpful and respectful. He has low voice but if u seat at the front no problem. Attendance is 10%, so it is to your advantage to attend. I recommed to everyone who are serious in attendance and doing assigned probs.
He is very helpful if you are having problems understanding. He will hold the entire class to make sure 1 person understands just speak up and let him know.
Horribale teacher...DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS. YOU WON'T GAIN ANYTHIN BUT STRESS.HEAVY ACCENT. TEST EVERYWEEK. HOMEWORK EVERYDAY. WON'T HELP YOU AT ALL. I WOULDN'T RECOMMENED HIM.TAKE ESLEE THEN HIM. FIRST DAY OF CLASS WE WERE AROUND 32 AFTER 5 WEEKS 5 STUDETS LEFT IN CLASS. NOBODY GOT A/B THEY ALL END UP (P) AND (W)
The man is well intentioned, does not mean to be cruel. But it sure comes off that way. has a teaching style that most are not used to (including me) and will take frivolous points off exams/HW. I will never take him again for I could not understand him and the teaching style is not for me. I have mostly learned this subject independently.
A very intelligent professor. Some reviewers here complain about his clarity but they obviously didn't seek help outside of class. He has high expectations for HW/quiz/exams but if you know what he is looking for it is not difficult at all. He takes time out of class to ensure students understand concepts. I would recommend him to others.
Flee!
It takes a few class periods to get used to his accent. After the first week its fine. Sit in the front, he doesnt talk very loud. Just stay on top of your assignments and you will be fine. He is very willing to help you outside of class, but it is hard to understand him in normal conversation. I would take him again.
Would not ever take this teacher for math again. Def not.
Very hard to understand him, and when you go to his office hours not much help either. I sat in the front and attended every class, and did all of the hw, still got a B
He is very smart Mathematician. Dogs can bark and the caravan marches.
He is very hard to understand. When he talks, he is VERY quiet. He doesn't answer questions when you address them to him. I wouldn't reccommend him at all.
Do not take this class. I got straight A's in math up until this year and I had to drop it because he is ridiculous. he will write a 4 on the board and say 6 and screws up on problems all the time. He can't speak or spell in english very well - math is hard enough especially with a teacher that screws up and is not helpful at all.
i never could understand him and if i asked him a question he acted like i should already know the answer he was one of the most useless teachers I've ever plus the class goes from cake to extremely hard in less then a week
His teaching style is ridiculous. He stopped giving us notes on the concepts a week in, just examples. Sometimes he'd show how to do something on the calculator without explaining anything. Trying to get help was frustrating, he is VERY IMPATIENT. You're basically on your own. In-class work/tests at random. Grades really hard on tests.
He was straight to the point and easy to understand. I understood clearly and was given help whenever I needed it.
He is just awesome
He is not that great teacher. he explains everything however, sometimes you cant even understand what he is saying. greedy on grading and attendence is very important. I will not recommend someone to take this class, try to get another teacher that will appreciate the work you did.
He is an awesome teacher if you are a fast learner this class is sweet, and he makes fun of those kids who think they are really smart even though they are not, so it always makes class interesting!
just dont even think abt taking his class at all, my whole semster was miserable and depressing coz' of his class, the class was full of smart kids first week, and the end of semster 70% of students dropped, everyone got C's and D's.i wouldn't recommend anyone.
AN EXTREMELY NICE GUY, has a accent but I never noticed it after a week, tests are straight forward and he is willing to help you. Recommend
Terrible teacher, goes way too fast, hard to understand. Doesn't explain everything and treats you like you're stupid if you ask a question. DO NOT TAKE!
Took class in summer. Way to quick to take during summer and with math center format you don't get a lecture. Teacher was nice, clear expectations, asked you to attended 3/4 of class periods, and allowed me to take exam at testing center. Fair teacher, I just recommend a lecture class during Fall or Spring unless you are good at math.
I took him for 1100 and 1510 and got an A in both. His class isn't 'easy'; math is not an easy subject. People do get 100% on his quizzes and exams, so if you don't do well it's because you're not smart. Grade is determined by attendance, homework, group work, quizzes and exams. Attend class, take notes, don't be dumb, and get an A.
Zedingle is a good teacher, he goes over the examples that will be on the test in class. Keep good notes and do your part and your golden. As for the negatives none except quizzes might push you to think further then just examples given.
Bueno. Just do your part and you'll get a good grade.
he is good.
He is not a teacher I would recommend. He is hard to understand and is not very helpful. He also makes multiple mistakes per lesson that throw the class off. He is good at going over examples and things, but if you get behind, you might as well withdraw. He is also boring, but does give breaks in his longer classes. Overall, I would avoid him.
I took Intermediate Algebra (700) He is very friendly, and clear with his instruction. He has an accent, but this is a multicultural economy, so get over it. He knows 7 or 8 languages and teaches through calculus 1. He is very willing to take time to tutor his students individually, thats great. A
Love him. He is the MOST fair Calculus teacher in the world. Drops a lot of stuff, leaves a lot of wiggle room to do homework this week or not. Nice, fun, and has very cute mannerisms, lol. I got a kick out of him and learned a lot. Highly recommend him.
Can't understand a word he says for the first month of class, but kind of got used to it. painfully boring, made me feel stupid for asking questions.
HORRIBLE PROFESSOR. AVOID at all costs. You cannot understand a word he says and he can barely write comprehensible so you are in the dark the whole time unless you are able to teach yourself. It was only easy for me because I was able to pass off of prior knowledge and teaching myself.
His grading practices were completely arbitrary, I think. I received an A but cannot figure out mathematically how that is possible. For all the frustrating with his teaching methods and poor english, it would have been nice to have an accurate picture of my grade.
This class was a hybird class. The subject material was pretty easy so I pretty much taught myself how to do everything. Homework and some quizzes are online and tests are multiple choice. This class overall was pretty easy. I'd recommend this class if you can teach yourself well. You can't always be dependent on the teacher in all your classes.
Hybrid because his English is god awful and you need to teach yourself everything. HE DOES NOT TEACH.
explaination not clear
Prof was super helpful. He always gave great feedback on what I did wrong and how to do it right. Any time I had a question he responded right away. For an online class this was not as bad as others I have had. the Subject was just not very easy for me. He helped me a lot.
This class was very hard. Its calculus, its not supposed to be easy. Ghidei is a great teacher, though, and is really interested in helping his students. Tests are pretty hard, but everything comes directly from the lectures.
I would have to say this was one of my least favorite classes. I emailed him multiple times about questions I had on content (and other things) and got no replies. I taught myself the subject since his lectures were confusing and redundant. He would answer questions with "refer to page _" instead of explaining. Takes FOREVER to get grades back!!
Took Ghidei Zedingle for Calc 1 and enjoyed him as a teacher. The material on exams comes directly from the material in the assignments and his suggested problems. There are no surprises on exams. Easy to understand his accent and a great teacher.
He's an awesome teacher. His accent is hard to understand at times but you'll get used to it. He's always willing to help. Lowest assignments, quizzes and group work gets dropped, so that will help your grade. I would recommend this class to anyone who is willing to show up in class and do your work, you'll pass!
Long and boring lectures. All Professor's atempts to communicate with the auditory failed. Coffin silence during the whole period. No discussions or dibates. No mini quizes. It seems like Dr. Zedingle don't like or enjoy his work.
Zedingle is a great professor that makes Calculus less difficult. His notes are very helpful. Tests and quizzes are fairly easy because everything is covered in the lectures. He is also a nice grader so you will get some credit if you show your work. He cares about students so he prepares them for his tests with in-class-reviews.
The lectures are way too long, hard to focus, and there's not enough time to copy all the notes down. For me, his accent made it hard to understand what he is talking about most of the time, and his quiet nature didn't help. There is no review in class, or study guides given out, so the tests seem much harder than the practice problems that you do.
4 quizzes, 3 tests, final, and homework. Ghidei presents material and explains it well. His accent is strong enough to occasionally not understand him. exams and quizzes are purely based off of homework and notes. very fair with grading, allowed to use excel on tests. He also teaches you how to use calculator and excel. I would recommend him.
Overall pretty good. Teaches the concepts pretty clearly but sometimes forgets numbers when rewriting problems which can be confusing. He tells you what sections the tests and quizzes are on ahead of time, and what you need to know. Hovers over your shoulder during worktime which can be annoying.
This professor is pretty straight forward, but I felt like I just did not learn anything. The only stuff I learned was from learning it outside of class. Class is pretty easy if you follow along with his guidelines. Has a heavy accent which is tough sometimes.
Heavy accent, hard to understand. Commonly makes calculation mistakes during notes. His first impression of you counts, and he isn't afraid to single you out if he doesn't particularly like you. Don't do anything in class other than notes for his class. Hovers right next to your ear during work time. Doesn't review for tests/quizzes.
the ways he uses to explain concepts is by explaining the concept as an intro and then solving some examples. in this class the main thing is homework and tests and quizes and group work. you will have one those almost every week, so no time to joke around , for me i 100% of my understanding came from youtube
focus on the questions he solves in class. many students regretted after the test/quiz the questions came were exactly and i mean exactly COPY / PASTE from class, when it comes to the final exam 90% of questions are from the tests quiz and group work , so make sure that you 100% correct your mistakes by going to his office hours before finals
he is nice teacher in math .
Teaches by doing examples. Accent isn't hard to understand, but talks quietly so sit at the front of the room. Takes questions on the final straight from other tests/quizzes and the final review. As long as you understand the concepts, you'll do just fine. If you're struggling with concepts, talk to your classmates, he doesn't answer questions well
He is knowledgeable, but does not convey the info well during his lectures and does not talk very loud to accommodate the large class size. He writes down a lot of examples and follows the texts for the most part. You will have to show your work for everything to receive full credit. Be prepare to learn on your own.
I've had Zedingle for a few classes now. He's a really good teacher and it's very straight forward what you're being tested/graded on based on the homework problems he assigns. I wasn't forced to do math through an online math program, but did my assignments on paper, which was a breath of fresh air. He is soft spoken, so sitting up front is a must
There's not a ton of homework in this class. I probably spent 2 hours a week on it and passed with an 87% . I would highly recommend utilizing Youtube for any concepts that you struggle with and study the homework assignments thoroughly as they often come up with similar questions in quizzes and tests.
I took intro to statistics with Ghidei. I am not so good at math, but found that he did everything he can to make sure you succeed. He is quick to respond to questions and he gave detailed responses to any question I asked. The weekly reading and homework help to understand the subject better, so do them even if they're lots of work at times.
Can't understand for the life of me. I have a hard time learning when he constantly writes letters backwards on the board.
So I took this class online asynchronously during the 2020 pandemic. I am a very self-motivated student and do fine learning on my own. For questions I had it took a while for Ghidei to get back to me and most of the time it was difficult to understand. If you are self-motivated you can do well in this class otherwise steer clear.
Only one homework due a week which was nice, but the professor did not teach at all. Everything is done through MyStatLab which is a website that grades immediately. Only a few tests but grade relies mainly on test scores. Would be nice to have some sort of zoom lecture. Get ready to utilize YouTube.
Very few lectures, most assignments were done through Pearson which was nice for immediate feedback. However, it didn't show the statistics program we actually used, and solutions would say "use technology to find the answer." So I had to piece together the theory with the easiest way to solve the problems myself with Youtube. Class not worth it.
Prof. Zedingle is a nice and tries to help you. He is accessible in office hours, but when asked to elaborate on a concept he just restates what he already said in the lecture notes. Not sure if he completely understands the material. Hard to understand and soft spoken. The HW, quizzes, and tests aren't that bad and are often based on example Qs.
Never struggled in math until this class. Had to teach myself all the material since he doesn’t explain things well. I think at least half my class failed. Exams are hard.
No study guides for quizzes or exams, which are REALLY hard. HE makes no sense when teaching, and does't set you up for success. When you are confused about a question he just acts downgrading or acts like why don't you know this?? My class's average for the midterm exam was 50%!!!!!! I think half of the people dropped his class.
This professor was not helpful in giving feedback and only provides you with lecture NOTES. You have to rely on the textbook to teach you and get ready to utilize youtube. He gives a bunch of homework and quizzes. Learn how to use your calculator and MyStatlab if you want to get a good grade in this class. He did however give extra credit.
i took statistics this spring and it is a tough class but professor ghidei is supper awesome. we used my stat lap and the grading was supper clear and he gave us extra credit. i would take his class again he is respectful, and nice. also you have to be ready before class it helps to understand the lesson.
Takes a while to answer emails and grade the exams. Lowest homework and quiz was dropped, but no extra credit. Strict grading on exam notations. Didn't really lecutre, we studied from the textbook and textbook videos. Prepare to study on your own.
Not amazing, but not the worst. Definitely relies heavily on pre-made power points and his lectures can be a bit of a bore. Tests are brutal, but he does give you sufficient material to study. Office hours were helpful to me when I struggled, and I felt that I walked away having learned new things. A perfectly average professor to have.
Easy to reach outside normal school hours & quick responses. Only 1 assignment due every Sunday and a few quizzes here and there. This was an online course, so I spent a lot of time on my homework assignments learning the material. MyStatsLab has a lot of features to help you understand so make sure you utilize them, and you'll do fine. :)
If you are ready to teach yourself Statistics through youtube, this prof is great! I figured out it was a waste of time reading notes or watching videos. It was a waste of time. I copy and pasted questions into youtube or chegg to get help on the problems. when I did email questions, he got back fairly quickly but with little to no help.
I took a calc4 online with Ghidei and it was rough. Hes not much of a teacher, he pretty much gives problems to complete and you learn to do it yourself by reading the book. Hes nice and means well but that does not mean hes a good teacher. Calc 4 has hard tests and his mid term and final carry most of the grade.
Very friendly and accessible. Explains each problem and answers doubts. Flexible office hours. Sometimes gives you hints about what is going to be on the test. Put in the work and ask questions, and you'll pass.
Took this class online, and it was pretty easy to keep up!
Great teacher! Really cares about you as long as you put in work and effort. He wants you to succeed. Not much weekly work one HW assignment a week and a few quizzes here and there. One midterm one final. No surprises on exams put in the work and you will do good!
I worked on an assignment for 3 hours, trying to figure things out, and turned it in, but apparently, I didn't turn it in the correct thing, so I emailed him asking if he could still view my work, and he refused, all that hard work for no credit on it. Class is easy but professor isn't understanding.
He is a very nice man and he gives you advice like your her son or daughter. if you dont know a question he will help you understand it
He is a very sweet professor and genuinely wants you to succeed. However, his teaching style is very vague and difficult to understand. Most of the time, you'll end up having to do some self-study because of his vague lectures, but his class has online resources that can guide you (Textbook best helps). If you're okay with self-studying, take him.
He's a very caring instructor and means well, however his teaching style just doesn't work for me. Lectures are long and vague, will just solve example problems at a breakneck speed instead of really teaching how to solve. I was struggling and he went out of his way to help me 1 on 1 which was useful. Get ready for lots of studying outside class
Had blast and super easy semester with him, He might be a bit fast with your new to things, but he always goes back and review the lectures, and his homework was really easy to do. overall, he is chill.
