I took her for Interpersonal Com. She is not intimidated by her students- she is a young, newer teacher but doesn't let students walk all over her. Her sense of humor comes through her lectures and she is friendly and totally approachable. Great teacher

GiGi is a great instructor. She is committed to helping students understand the material and to keeping the class interesting. She has high standards but is a fair grader. If you come to class, pay attention and do your reading, you'll do well. I hope to take another class with her.

I took GiGi's class in the Winter and it was well worth it. She's there when you want to speak to her about your speech ideas, and is clear on what she expects on the speeches. Jot down notes, write thorough outlines, read the textbook here and there, and you'll be fine.

Very easy, low amount of work, work done is very easy, she is helpful and nice, she is also good looking.

Don't mess with GiGi people! She's awesome and very smart. She was a great professor with a lot to offer. I've taken more than one class with her and enjoyed them all! She's a cool person and deserves credit for all her hard work...so back off!

She is a very cool and friendly teacher. Her tests are very eazy if you study. The hardest and time consuming part of the class is the project. She treats students like her friends.

Ive been at CSUN for a countless number of years and Gigi is one of the best professors at CSUN. Very easy to talk to. Its true, she does treat her students like friends. Shes a very cool professor. Take her class if you can. Trust me. If she had 5 different classes, I would probably take all 5 of them. LOL.

Gigi is very laid back and easy going. This is a perfect night class. However she does pick her favorites. Your final grade does not reflect what you were getting in the class through out the semester.

Quite possibly, the best teacher in the Comm. Studies department. She cares a lot about her students and works hard to understand them. Well structured class with a lot to be learned. The group work was fun and she respects the hardwork put in to them. Great class.

Gigi is a good teacher although see can be an unfair grader. Test are not that hard but there is a reading quiz almost every week. There are four 1-2 pg papers due during semester which arent hard. I wouls recommand her. Classes and discussions are fun and helpful.

She is very sweet and the class was interesting. Alot of class discussion. Make sure to do well on the quizzes because the points sneak up on you. Also she grades harshly on the group presentation. Overall good class, good teacher, and she does have style.

She was amazing, my favorite professor to date, not to mention she is darling. She is so helpful, and her clarity on assignments made the class a breeze.

I was dreading the class so i took it over summer. Very easy!! 3 five minute speeches and an easy final. Gives extra credit if you listen to other people's speeches. She's really nice, just follow the outlines she gives and you will get an A!

The hottest professor at CSUN, should be a model instead of professor :) She is very nice, laid back woman. I love her class I learned a lot. Super easy to get at least B, if you don?t, it?s because your are lazy and has very low I.Q. so do not be a hater.

She is very nice and does not have favortism. She also repects everyones opinions and constantly interacts with the class. She never keeps you the entire time either. Book is necessary because you have pop quizzes randomly, they're easy if you read. 4 essays only 2 pages and on your own opinions, so easy. Attendace important. Test can be difficult.

She is a super easy class. Very laid back and open to opinions. Does use the book a lot for quizzes and test. Test are multiple choice so farely easy if you keep up with the reading. She is very understanding and helpful if you have any questions or concerns. This is the 2nd class i've taken with her and i would take another :P

This is an advanced speaking class and you have to present 4 speeches. Professor gives good guidance prior to each speech.

Ms. Gigi was a great choice to pick for a COMS 360 professor. All I can say is dont mention about her not knowing how to cook. She gets, extermely upset. But so far, the class was great. I suggest anyone to take Gigi because she makes the information clear and relates to the text.

Gigi is a great professor. I actually had her for 2 classes this semester and she was great in both classes. She can come off as a little cold at first(establishment of authority?) but her personality does eventually come out and she is much more friendly and even funny. Her tests are fairly easy but make sure you read the book and take good notes.

she has 3 question quizzes on the homework chapter almost every class period (buy the book), memorize her notes in class because thats where the test comes from mostly, and she seems to like small, fun, group projects once in a while in some of her classes. She is a nice professor, but might seem mean at times. You have to attend her lectures - every time there is a quiz from the readings, and attendance really counts. Two midterms that are from lectures and book, and four short essay papers. I did all the work, attended classes and received an A. Recommended if you aren't lazy.

GiGi makes COMS fun. She is reasonably strict on grading, but if you follow her criteria and basic public speaking guidelines, you're good to go! Her lectures are enough to do the speeches, but the book IS needed for final. I used the free 7day trial that is offered w/ the electronic version of the book.

Gigi is cool, fun and interesting, her assignments arent hard people. 2 group projects, 1 test and 2 presentations. its supper easy just get a good group. I would say even if she is easy you will learn in her class. She is clear and explains everything, not boring at all.

Gigi was a great teacher. She was demanding, but fair and honest. I got a B, but had to work mildly hard for it. She's also pretty hot for a CSUN Prof. :)

Recommended. She's nice, fair and very easy. Approachable. Reader (various book excerpts/articles) instead of textbook. 2 papers, 3 exams (35 M.C.), there was group work but she dropped it. There is in-class group work and a couple of presentations, debate, discussions...lots of in-class participation.

She is strict and tells you what is expected from the get-go. Not a bad teacher... She teaches well and clearly, and like any class if you do the work you can easily pass.... she just has no compassion for her students. But you still learn!

You won't need the book if you actually attend and take good notes. Follow her instructions explicitly for the speeches or you will get a bad grade. She is a strict grader, but I have never learned more in a speech class. I have used everything I learned there in every class since. She is one of the best professors at CSUN

Prof. Hessamian is competent in her field; professional, clear, & constructively critical. Don't expect an A in her class; you will need not only adequate writing skills, but excellent speaking skills (which can be developed if you enter the class without them). I didn't get an A, but felt that my grade was deserved. I highly recommend her.

It is very difficult to get an A. According to previous comments they said that she was unfair to pretty girls. I know pretty girls in the class that did better than I did, and I'm a boy. From this I doubt she has any sort of gender prejudice. She's a great teacher, but it's almost like first impressions matter for an A grade so I don't doubt fav.

Professor Gigi Hessamian is a great professor, but this class is alright. Gives pop quizzes every once in a while so you have to read a little. 5 mini 2 page essays, 1 (5-7 page essay), two group projects which are easy. Also a midterm and final. This class takes some work but not much.

Professor Hessamian is a great professor. She is clear about the grading scale, provides adequate time for homework, papers, and studying for exams. Her exams are on point with the lectures and the readings. She also provides a study guide of what exactly will be on the exam. She does give a lot of quizzes but they are a piece of cake . She is a great teacher it was fun to go to class every week. She requires reading almost every week, and there are pop quizzes based on some of the readings. Get ready to write five 2-3 page essays and a 5 6 page field paper. The 2 tests are based on the book and her notes, so take notes, she will tell you which ones are important.

Gigi is truly a great instructor who makes every topic fun and interesting. Her course reader is mandatory and yes, you will have to do some reading before each class meeting but it is so much worth it. The lectures are not only entertaining, they will also help you grow and develop as a person. Do the readings, participate and be yourself:)

I had the pleasure of taking Professor Gigi over the course of the winter session. I was honestly a bit hesitant before taking this class reading the comments before but I totally disagree with them. Yes, there is some reading and engagement involved, but that's what any great professor requires. Loved her course.

Gigi is awesome and her classes are always interesting. I've had her for two classes and enjoyed both . I think the people who are judging her harshly have never had a conversation with her. She is understanding and is more than willing to work with you. The classes are always straight forward and easy to understand.

GiGi is amazing. I took her a few semesters ago so this review a little past due. She really cares about her students. You do need the book for this class and you must read the material before class because 1) she may give you a pop quiz and 2) the class discussions are based on the reading. I'm not a COMS major if not I would take her again!

I have taken three of her classes, COMS 323, 356, and 360. She is a good teacher and is passionate about what she is teaching. She encourages participation and cares about student success. Her papers and tests are a little tricky but if you go to class and do the readings you will be just fine. Would recommend to others.

Professor Hessamian is an amazing teacher! I was scared to take ADVANCED speech because public speaking scares me. She made me feel so comfortable and was so encouraging. She is helpful and answers any questions you have. If you need help with your thesis email her and she will help you! She is also just an AMAZING person! I loved her class!

There are two(ish) group projects, two 5-7 page papers, two exams and an almost weekly pop quiz. I wish I had more coms classes to take, so I could take another class with her. Group discussions are so interesting and engaging. She'll test the limits of how well you know the material, which you came to school to do. Trust. You'll love her class.

An insightful, wonderful prof. Shes awesome at making lecture engaging, & getting students into great class convos. I've taken her twice- she definitely isnt a super easy, breeze-by the course kind of professor; you have to make sure to do the readings (reasonable amount) for the quizzes at beginning of class. Professor Hessamian is one of the best professors I have had at CSUN. She is both a great teacher, and an overall kind person who made this semester wonderful. TAKE HER if you have the opportunity! Her intercultural class was phenomenon, and I'm sure that is the case for any other subject she teaches.

If you can take coms451, do it! The topics are so interesting and are applied to real life. Professor H posts modules every week. You have to watch the lecture (max 20 min and they are not boring) and then do a discussion post or quiz. 2 exams, 2 papers, and one group project. She is also very responsive if you have any questions!

Prof is clear and sticks to the syllabus. Not the most fascinating topic, but I would take another class from her.

High quality professor, she absolutely cares and pushes you. Its not an easy class but it is very insightful and useful. Would take her again.

Try to make a good first impression. Sitting near the front, showing engagement, and basic classroom etiquette go a long way. The class focuses on interpretations and utilization of the material rather than restating the same information. If you struggle with this type of style, then this professor is not for you.
