It was a great class. I enjoyed it. The professor seemed extremely interested in the subject and kept me interested by his sense of humor. He was easy going and laid, but still expected me to turn in all assignments. Take this class, you'll get alot from it.
This class is taught in a very modern and upbeat manner, making it extremely interesting. Great teacher whose very knowledgable and is capable of holding your attention
AWESOME CLASS! Loved the lectures. Class participation isnt necessary. 3 take home tests, not easy, but he gives you a few days. Do the readings. Lets you miss class, but will reward you if you go. Go. You should. His lectures always put me in a good mood. Also, VERY funny and good looking guy ladies. He looks like uncle Jessie from Full House!
He is an incredible professor.
Wonderful professor. Incredibly funny, and well versed in his subject. We didn't cover as much as I would have liked (we didn't even touch on truth tables or any symbolic logic), but that doesn't matter: he really made it worth getting up every MWF to listen to him rant about something. Would love to go for a beer with him!
Great Teacher..very interesting class...Never boring always full of energy...High Recom.....:)
Best professor I've ever had. Highly recommended.
Loved Him
he wasnt a very great teacher. his accent is very heavy, he curses meaninglessly. his class was boring and the content was useless.
His class was interesting. He goes on rants alot but he keeps us entertained. He's very funny! If you have strong religious views then I don't recommend you take this class. But other than that you must take his class! He takes alot of quiz questions from the book so it is definatly needed.
Amazing! He is very funny!you'll never get sleepy in this class! we watched some very good films.he is interested in the subject and made me also love philosophy.tests were online and we had a few days to do them. gives extra credit.great class, great teacher! made me see things I couldnt understand before! :) I would take his class again.
he's a really cool teacher. he always jokes around. he tells the truth so, naturally, religious people might disagree with him sometimes but i enjoyed his class. all you have to do is listen and understand what he's talking about.
This professor is delightfully interesting. He teaches in a very upbeat manner, keeps you entertained, and does a lot of audience participation. YOU must have an open mind to take this course and not be offended. If you are very religious, without an open mind, do not take this course. You cannot miss more than 6 days, must be on time. He will allo
I absolutely loved this professor. He is hilarious. You must buy the book. You must come to class and take notes. YOU MUST NEVER BE TARDY. Participate in class, but make sure you know what you are talking about. One midterm, final, and one paper. Tests are online, open notes. Do not take this class if you do not have an open mind.
Don't be late or leave class. He goes over the material very well but it is still a hard class. Hard moreso b/c of the material than his teaching. Not clear on how to write the paper, so make sure to write in a format (chicago/mla) and be VERY clear on what you want to say. Overall very interesting class & he works hard to get the everyone involved
Dr. Lepadatu is amazing... he is not like your usual professors. He has a heavy accent, he likes to cuss, and he is hott! I thoroughly enjoyed his classes! If you are a sheltered person who does not like to be challenged, then don't take him. If you have an open mind and can think for yourself, then his is the professor for you!
The subject material is confusing. But he is a good professor. He was very generous with helping the students with grade curves and giving out test questions before the test. His classes are not mandatory, but I strongly recommend that you attend b/c it's easier to understand the material.
Very interesting, but the tests were hard in my opinion. Its hard to grasp some of the concepts. Overall he is a great professor, and he is really funny!
This class was interesting as well as informative. As long as you pay attention you will do well on the tests. He is Romanian and English is his second language so he requires good grammar on all tests. The tests are all essay form. He is an enjoyable, funny, blunt teacher. There are no hidden expectations or surprises. I would take him again.
He is a great teacher. Very funny yet very blunt. So, if you are easily offended do not bother to register for his class. And whatever you do, DO NOT be late for class. He HATES that and will NOT tolerate it whatsoever. I got an A in his class. Would take him again if I had the chance to!
Class (Critical thinking and Logic) is very interesting! Dont bother to come to class if you are more than 10min lates... He is hard on you about being on time.. This is good even so. I earned a hard "B" in the class.. Study hard Fallicies and Catagorical propersitions... And know what ( "." "~" and "v") means completly..
Attendance is not mandatory, but you shouldn't be late. You'd better go every class and take notes to get A. There are 15 extra points if you post on the online discussion. You should write only the issues from his class or assignment. He is a decent person. Philosophy is a difficult subject, and he tries to make it easy for students.
My Favorite Class! My favorite TEACHER.!! he was funy, very interesting, explained things sooooo well.. I never wanted to his class to end. I wish i could take him again. Take good notes and listen to his lectures. youll learn alot. You have to be open minded to take this class. Youll love it.
He's the coolest teacher ever and the class discussion are so interesting, he really gets interested in the subject, wanting to hear about other people opinion on the subject.
Proffesor Lepadatu is smart and well spoken. He can be offensive to spiritual students but he teaches the course well and passionately. He knows the subject matter extremely well and has a good sense of humor.
I loved this class! He gives really interesting, animated lectures. Definitely read the textbook; class is great for clarification, but I can see how someone could misunderstand based on the lectures alone; his examples are very simple. But if you put in the energy, Lepadatu will match it! Bonus- he also happens to be a good looking guy, ladies!
In all honesty. This professor gives interesting lectures. Very animated and uses simple examples to help w/ understanding. However, he seems to have a short fuse and is irritable by nature. He seems to get angry/annoyed very easily. Overall, his teaching style is not that difficult. He can be funny but if super religious, don't take his class.
Totally agree with the comment below he def has a temper and gets pissed off easily...on the other hand, he's a great teacher and is very passionate about the material. His tests are reasonable if u study and are online by the way...overall I would def recommend him
This professor has issues. He picks on certain people, then flirts with his favorites right in front of you. He is very blunt about everything, no matter if it hurts you or not. His tests are hard for logic class. He will call you stupid over and over. He will try to fail you on purpose because he has issues with everyone and everything. Boo hoo. D
This guy is something else. Could not believe how rude he was.Not a caring professor at all. Seems to be upset about teaching. He acts like he does not want to teach, nor does he enjoy it. No passion for teaching at all. I mean, come on...if you don't want to teach students and make an impact on their life, then quit and go somewhere else.
I think this guy needs to quit teaching altogether. He clearly does not enjoy it. He does, however, enjoy hurting his students and making them feel stupid, but its his comments that are so stupid. But if you're German, he might give you a good grade. Favoritism, 100%.
He is one of my fav. Prof. Funny, but can have a short fuse because 9 out of 10 people haven't done the reading assignments. He said in his 4 years at GPC no one has ever come to office hours for help. His tests can be challenging but if you come to class, read and can write a complete sentence you'll pass. BTW College is suppose to challenge you!
I dont get where students get these ideas of him from.He is very passionate and emotional with his teaching, very clear and helpful and intelligent.Love his class, really challenges why you believe what you believe.def recommend taking him, but have an open mind. :)
Awesome Teacher! He is a great teacher and I would HIGHLY recommend taking him
Very precise and detailed.Explains everything clearly. the point of the class is to know and understand concepts, its not a question/answer memorizing class. He is also very respectful and considerate, very fair as well. He does get passionate about what he teaches and makes you think about your own perceptions and such. Loved him! also very hot ;)
He's very intelligent. And he does not offend anyone on there religion. However if your grammar is poor. I recommend you find someone else, this professor kills you on the test with grammar mistakes. I literally mean kills you......but his lectures are damn good.
Great teacher and pretty easy class-2 tests plus a final.Would def recommend taking him.
If you want a teacher that ignorantly slams religion, then this is your guy. I watched him misrepresent every religion possible; he got basic beliefs totally wrong. He lectures about how stupid he thinks religion is, not philosophy, and trashes religion every chance he gets. If you are serious about Philosophy and want to learn, dont take this guy.
His lectures were great, making Philosophy not only easier to understand but interesting. It wasn't the same boring class. If you have bad grammar don't even bother, you will not pass. Keep test answers very short and very to the point. I definitely recommend him and wish there were more Professors as enthusiastic about their subject as him.
He'd probably be a cool teacher if he spent more time teaching and less time preaching his personal beliefs on the evils of religion and the ignorance of its followers. If only he let the content of the class speak for itself; instead I couldn't help but look at all the material as if it was through an extremely biased lens. Take classes with this
*continued from below* Take classes with this guy if you want repeated sermons that serve little purpose rather than lectures which actually divine new perspective and knowledge.
I had Prof. Lepadatu's logic/critical thinking class. He is hilarious; however, his cute accent became hard to understand at times. During lectures, he would often stop and stammer while searching for the correct word/phrase, and subsequently myself & a few others would have to 'fill in' his blanks. FYI:He's a real trickster w/ the ?'s on final exa
He is a grammar freak but because he is foreign he often makes grammar mistakes himself. His test are online except for final and so far, hard. He lectures without power-points. Has power points just forgets to use them. Test are over readings and readings are hard to understand. He is hilarious and a good teacher but his teaching style is complex
Mr. Gilbert is an exceptional teacher. His class lectures are very engaging and he possesses a powerful speaking voice. I really enjoy listening to his lectures and his choice of words. He can be fairly repetitive at times, but it is merely a small "con" in an ever wealthy pool of "pros" associated with his rich class lectures. Highly recomended._.
BE WARNED This teacher is a joke as far as philosophy is concerned. Hardly ever actually teaches; he would rather give his personal ignorant views on religion and talk about how much he hates it. He is a tool. All my learning of philosophy came from outside the class. Take this class if you want Atheist preaching.
I enjoyed the debates which went on in his class but he is hypocritical. Refers to people as "close minded" while believes to know the truth that he isn't even sure of and considers it to be an illusion. If I said that he is very bashful upon religious people, it would be an understatement. Tests online, pretty hard also.
I took his Critical Thinking and Logic class my first semester in college, and I got an A. These people are just exaggerating. He always tells us that he says all of that "bad" stuff to challenge us in the debates. I would take him again! Great guy!
I love listening to his lectures. He likes to use a lot of current world issues as examples. I believe that's what a lot of people are uneasy about. He explains the culture of yesterday and applies it to the culture of today. I don't see any problem with that at all. He's also really handsome and dresses like a Romanian model.
Really smart guy. Not your traditional teacher, but a real teacher. Philosophy can be difficult to grasp at times, but he really knows his stuff and has engaging lectures.
Mr. Lepadatu is an excellent teacher with a strong accent. He does not preach, he teaches. He?s not your average day-to-day professor. If controversial topics are too much to for you, then take someone else. He is also hilarious.
great prof. as long as you attend class you will do well, he does extra credit, movies, and is interesting.sometimes it gets a little drawn out at times, but what class doesnt? hes great!
I loved this class, the professor knows his stuff. Those that say he's difficult and unclear must not have attended class! He forces you to think outside the box and I'm guessing that's the problem. He tells you exactly who he is and what he is about the first day of class. I would take him again in a New York minute.
The previous reviews dont make sense. Lepadatu shouldnt be teaching. He hardly seems to care much for philosophy, he would rather talk about how much he hates Christians. This is the average class: Late 15 minutes, 2 minutes of a Philosophy, 50 minutes of his personal opinions, 10 of how stupid he thinks God is. Dont expect to learn anything.
Final was the easiest test he gave all semester. Would be better if he gave study guides for all his test and used his power points. Good guy, lectures can get boring and off topic but overall would rate him well. Dont expect an easy A, but if you put forth at least SOME effort he will acknowledge it
This guy is awesome and really funny. Loved his class and he gets off topuc which is great sometimes. He has a really easy final. Two online test, come on how much easier can it get? Little to no homework, all you have to do is read the book, which i did not even do. Totally recommend.
This is by far the best teacher. i love his teaching style and he is REALLY funny. his class is easy and fun. he actually makes want to learn. he has the easiest and funniest ways to explain things. YOU MUST TAKE HIM TO HAVE AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE AT GPC. oo yea and btw he has 3 easy test and no hw... cant get any better..!
This guy is best philosophy teacher ever. He is not hard at all. He try his best to present the ideas clearly as much as possible. If you pay attention in his lectures, you will get an A in this class for sure.
He's really funny and I love how he will just say the f word out of no where. It makes me feel like I can relate to him. It's not an easy class and sometimes it seems like His tests are impossible but study and actually make an effort and he will pass you. He really helped me out by passing me and I didn't even go to half of his classes. I really liked him. Such a hottie too!!;)
One of the best teachers i've had at GPC.He is very easy to understand and never gives homework. He is also very funny. He is an all around awesome guy. Though he is a philosophy teacher,I appreciate the fact that he never forced his views on the class.I should have gotten an 81 in the class, but with extra credit and curves,i got an A. Great Teacher
great guy...but terrible at teaching...no study guides....nothing to help students boost there grades...only give a little curve thats ONLY if the majority of the class does bad.
Great teacher! He really puts in the effort to make sure all of his students understand the concepts his lectures convey. All you have to do is go to class and pay attention to his lectures.. Students complain that he does have any study guides but its a college class not high school make your own!
he's a very funny guy. he's very clear at teaching if you just pay attention, and attend class. dont be late to class, he will lecture you in front of the whole class.
I have taken several of his classes, he is the best prof. I've ever had! He is super funny, unbelievably smart, good looking, and makes class fascinating. If you keep an open mind, he will totally change how you see the world, for the better. Remember you are big boys and girls that are taking a college class, you're not in Sunday school
He's good at teaching. He will show you a different way of looking at things. The classes are fun and interesting (watch out if you're devout in religion). Make sure you go to class. His test aren't easy if you did not study sufficiently.
Mr. Lepadatu is extremely smart! I don't know if it's because it's summer session, but he lectures non stop for 2 hours, no break. Which is fine since we get out 45 mins earlier. A test once a week (4 week class) and tests are not too hard but definitely not easy. Pay attention in class and ask questions.
I loved this class. I was dreading it but I'm so glad I took it with Mr. Lepadatu cause it was very interesting! He's funny and gives lots of examples for students to understand the concept. If you're a bit uptight, he can be considered "rude" but it's obvious that's not his intention. I'd take him again if I could!
I really don't get all the high ratings that he has. He does NOT teach philosophy. Take his class and you will be sitting through 1 hour of how much he hates Christians, Muslims, etc. He just uses teaching as a platform to preach atheism. And He reqs. attendance, so you can't just skip and show up for the easy test. Take Dr. Eric Morton instead.
Some people on here seem to think that he teaches Philosophy, which is funny cause he doesn't teach Philosophy. But I guess that comes with the territory of being an idiot; hence why they think that a man talking about Call of Duty and how much he hates religion constitutes as Philosophy. Do yourself a favor and find yourself another teacher.
Logic and Critical thinking was very interesting and fun. He tells lots of entertaining jokes and is very helpful if you don't understand something.
It's easy if you are good at thinking logically
worst teacher ever, He is the biggest christian hater on this planet. He should not be allowed to voice his hatred of christians in class this is something that parents of christian should know before the student signs up for his class and that he tries to convert students to become nonbelivers , and grades according to your beliefs.
He is a great Logic Professor, and explains everything clearly. He gives you a speech about being late, and attendance. Make sure you are on time to class, and do not walk in front of him during his lecture. You are going to upset him, and it is extremely rude. Also participation in class is essential. DO NOT MENTION BOSE SPEAKERS IN CLASS!
This professor makes you think. You may think he is all religious hater, but he is not. There are few online hw 2 points each hw. There are 3 tests, for me the 1st test was my lowest score, so focus more on 1st test. No papers to write, just dont be late.
I took a logic and critical reasoning and this is by far the best professor I've had all semester. I'm typing this now that I have just had my last class and finished my final. Favorite teacher. Easy class. Don't take his examples about christianity so seriously. He himself is a Christian, so lighten up. Easy class. Do the work!!! Loved Lepadatu!
Funniest professor ever! He was not afraid to expose the falseness and deception of religion. Therefore, he is not for the fainthearted. Attend his class and you won't need the text because his tests followed from his lectures verbatim. We learned a lot about current events and politics as they pertain to logic. Christians will have to forgive him!
Awesome teacher. Be prepare to open your mind for new ideas. It's his job to make you uncomfortable IT'S a LOGIC class NOT attend to CHURCH. He's very sarcastic and funny! There are 3 tests and some hw online. Testes can be trick but he does his best to make it as simple as he can. Discussions are very interesting. overall GOOD Teacher!
Lots of great things about Professor Lepadatu. He is a good communicator and very effective teacher, helpful, responsive, has a great sense of humor, colorful personality, and puts forth a good effort. His criticisms/rants of Jesus Christ/Christianity are counterproductive and done in a distasteful manner. Other than that good/interesting class.
He is a wonderful professor! He warns you on the 1st day that if you are sensitive about religion that you shouldn't take his class. If you chose to stay don't complain when he talks about Nietzsche or the the horrors done in the name of religion. If hearing about these things upsets you than perhaps college isn't the best place for you.
Try to take another teacher. Professor Lepadatu will waste a lot of your time with his opinions rather than teach. He spends entire days bashing christianity. The tests are poorly made with lots of grammatical errors. When he actually teaches, the lectures are good however this isn't often enough.Gives selective extra credit based on who he likes.
Decent teacher. Tends to go on rants occasionally. Those didn't contribute much to my learning experience. Covers the material well and, if you have questions, he will do his best to explain either in class or on the iCollege discussion forum. Fair - he will change a grade if you offer a good LOGICAL reason it should be changed.
Interesting class. He a interesting character. If you can't open your mind and hear all the options, this isn't the class for you. I think the younger students didn't get the ideas to well and he isn't great at examples and explaining outside the box.
If you are looking for a teacher that doesnt give a lot of home work, prof Gilbert is the perfect one. However, if you are not a good test-taker,I would give it a NO NO, because a big part of the grade is on 2 tests and 1 final; they count 70% of your grade. and beside that, everything else is great
I am in his class now and decided to write my remarks. I normally don't take the time. He is a great teacher I had doubts when I read the comments before taking his class but I didn't have a choice...in my selection...he his helpful and likes to talk...I AM sure if you come to listen and learn you will.
Lepadatu was not such a great philosophy instructor. The only thing I really remember about his class was him trying to describe Plato's forms and the anti-religious tirades that he would go on every day. This is unbecoming of a philosophy instructor and should be left out of the class room. Teach people, not your view.
