very hard class!! great teacher.
This class made A&P so easy. His lectures are boring and he reads off the powerpoint presentations...definitely not recommended for the lethargic! Tests are multiple choice and not that difficult.
Excellent teacher. He really wants his studnets to succeed.
he was a great teacher. hard class but it is very helpful
Dr.P is defintely easier to get along with than Dr.Thompson. Take this guy if you can. He's Awesome!
Very friendly and helpful, he gives lots of extra credit. He wants his students to succeed, and offers many attempts to do so. He's quite boring, but he really tries to make it interesting(bless his heart). He reads directly off the powerpoint. I would recommend him over any other professor.
The class is so easy and he is such a funny professor.

If you have to take Anatomy and Physiology, Dr.Pitts is a must have. He is best for lecture. It is by no means an easy class, but he has the easiest tests, because it is all multiple choice.
ugh...thats all i have to say about that...
Best professor at APSU for this course. Sometimes boring, but he made many attempts to give extra credit, and he's genuine about wanting his students to enjoy the class and succeed.
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER HE MAKES SURE YOUR FULLY UNDERSTAND THE SUBJECT BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT TOPIC THE CLASS ITSELF IS HARD BUT IT IS A BIOLOGY CLASS WHICH I NOT SO GREAT AT PITTS GIVE EXTRA CREDIT AND GOOD CURVES ON TEST AND THE FINALS
He is an awesome teacher. His exams are all multiple choice, but the answers are very clear cut. He doesn't try to trick you at all. His notes are all on Blackboard and he clings to them for dear life. So if you have to miss a class you're all set.
You should definately take Pitts for Anatomy. He lectures directly off his powerpoint slides on blackboard.Attendence is not mandatory.Very helpful!Gives major curves on all his tests so you can get a better grade. He wants to see his students succeed. He is really nice!!I have had him for all my lectures and labs and he is great.
love him. he has a lot of enthusiasm and is passionate about what he teaches. his tests are no harder than anyone else and he does give a curve which is nice. u will have to come to class and study. he's very helpful and u can come and see him or email him and he gets back to u immediately. i learned a lot, but the subject itself is difficult.
I loved his class and was glad that I chose to take him. He is always more than willing to help you out.
Dr. Pitts is awesome! He will help any student out as much as he can. I stayed in his office, and he was more than willing to help. I had a full work/class schedule which made it hard for me to catch Dr.Pitts on office hours, I would show up at his lunch time and instead of sending me away, he was still willing to help out. He is GREAT. Recommend!!
I have dr. pitts in summer session. 1 chapter/day test over the chapters the next monday 73 questions. Also I am taking his lab only 2 tests in lab (mid and final). Lab assignment every other day. Attendance not required in lab if you finish on day 1. Lab homework is demanding but does help with lecture tests. Homework not due till end of semester
Great professor! Goes directly off of slides and explains things in simple terms so you can understand them. Tests always multiple choice. Grades on a curve. Tests aren't tricky but you still have to study
Really good teacher, is very willing to stay after class and help students understand material. Draws lots of diagrams and puts concepts into simpler terms. All test are multiple choice, but you've still got to study.
I love Dr. Pitts! He is without a doubt the best teacher i had. I took him for summer session so it was a speedy course. I still keep in touch with him b/c he seems like the only teacher that truly cared if I got it and did not give up until you did. Gives great examples and draws a pic if u don't get it. love him.
He was an awesome teacher, explained everything well. Stayed after class and emailed- anything to help the study learn. Could answer any question thrown at him.
AMAZING! The class overall is kind of challenging but when you need an explanation just go to Dr. Pitts and he will break things down real good. The test are always multiple choice, and are reasonable only if you study the slides and read the chapters! He offers a comprehensive test to replace a bad test. He makes it fun and is a funny guy!
I had to devote my life to this class. just for a D.I was not happy with it at all!
Dr. Pitts is en awesome teacher. He grades extremely generously and is always willing to help. He makes some silly jokes sometimes, but is always able to keep the subject interesting. He makes me want to learn more.
Dr.Pitts makes his lectures interesting and will constantly try and get the class involved with the lectures. His tests are very very hard, but if you study then you will be fine. I would strongly recommend taking his class if you want to retain the information.
He keeps the class interested by asking questions during his lectures. He is really enthusiastic, and will do everything he can to help you. He even schedules study sessions that last hours to help us prepare for his exams (which are extremely hard). He is an overall wonderful teacher who wants us to retain this information for life.
He is a very nice person, tests are hard, but then again it is Anatomy and Physiology!
Dr. Pitts is was too rediculous for me. His tests are so in depth that it's impossible to study since you don't know what you need to know. The only grades you have are tests, which is not fair. Dr. Taylor or Jator are your best choices, they give you chances to bring up your grade.I study my butt off and have only passed one test.Rediculously hard
My favorite teacher ever! a&p is known as a weedout course. his tests are hard because a&p is hard. if you dont know it, you dont know it. he is so funny. he is well prepared for class and is right in line with the book (no interpretations). the tests are not tricky and he is very generous with curving (10%). averages are usually 75%.
Very good teacher, very helpful and interested in how much the students are learning from his class, I would definitely recommend him for anatomy and physiology
Dr.Pitts is by far the best Biology professor that I have ever had. His tests are difficult if you don't study hard, but its not impossible. He makes sure that you know your stuff and is very helpful and willing to answer questions. If you can take his class I would strongly recommend it.
I had Dr. Pitts for summer session. We did a chapter a day in lecture and a different lab every other day. He really wants you to succeed in understanding the material and gives plenty of opportunities to up your grade. He was a extremely nice man and if you can take him for either A/P, take him!
Wonderful teacher, great personality and very helpful.
Awesome teacher. Genuinely wants students to comprehend the material. Aproachable in class, responds promptly to emails. Fair but firm. Get the I-Clicker. Funny fellow. Not an easy A. To do well in the class you truly have to know the material. Tests are Multiple choice tests with bonus, sometimes a curve. Don't be scared, take this class.
He is a really wonderful professor who will take his time to carefully explain things so that hopefully no one will be confused!! I took him during summer session I and it was alot to learn but he made it managable! I do recommend taking him if you get the chance to and have to take this class
A&P is a tough subject, but Pitts' is probably the best teacher to take for it. His slide shows are very helpful, he goes through them fast though so you'll want to print them off before you go to class because there's no time to take notes. The tests are the only grades you have, except for the iclicker questions in class for extra credit.
He is FABULOUS!
Dr. Pitts is awesome. I didn't know I would love A/P so much. He is funny and will do anything to help. The tests are multiple choice and he gives a curve. I think he is great. I am going to try and take him again next semester.
He is probably the best teacher that I have ever had! I definitely recommend Dr. Pitts!
Took summer class, do not take another class at the same time. Dr. Pitts is very knowledgable and helpful, he wants you to understand the material. What he wants you to know comes from the slides. Book needed for independent reading; charts and diagrams good for test prep. Would definitely take another class with him!
Amazing professor. His tests and quizzes are quite tricky, but his teaching skills rock. When you are confused about a certain topic, he will give you the best, alternative explanation that suddenly becomes clear to you.
Make sure you pay attention to the slides and what he stresses in lecture. Awesome man, very funny - makes the lecture entertaining. Gives curves & offers extra-credit; make sure you purchase an i-clicker!
Dr. Pitts is an amazing teacher! He tells you what you need to know. His tests are a little hard, but if you study you'll do just fine. He is hilarious and will always keep you laughing. I wish every professor would adopt his teaching style! He is GREAT!
Dr. Pitts is a wonderful professor. He definitely knows his stuff. He explains everything thoroughly and will answer any questions you have. He's very funny and keeps things interesting. If you don't study, you will fail. Read your book, and study study study.
I had Dr. Pitts for lecture and lab and he is a very professional yet helpful and friendly teacher. He really wants you to learn the material and is always available for help and can provide alternate explanations. A&P is tough, but he is a knowledgeable, entertaining, friendly teacher.
this class is hard regardless who you take it with, however i have heard the best things about pitts! i dont really use my book, i mostly use his power points...but his tests are all multiple choice-which doesnt make them easy but they are generally not too bad. and he curves his tests! i wouldnt take bio with anyone else!
I first took him for Bio2010, then again for Bio2020 and loved him! I will admit he is pretty tough, and you to get a good grade you have to attend class, but other than that brillant teacher! He knows his stuff, and he super helpful after class. I totally recommend him to anyone!
Let's say he's the worst teacher i ever had. He tends to favor students who are closer to his age. Does not explain concepts well and powerpoints are useless for reviewing for the test. Multiple choice test but are confusing and the questions are not over lecture. NEVER TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!!!!!
A&P is one of the most difficult classes I have had to take. Dr. Pitts is EXTREMELY tough. However, I will admit that I walked out of his class knowing my stuff. When I sat for my Nursing entrance exam, I knew my A&P material. You have be there and you have to pay attention. He is always willing to talk to his students! Totally recommend him!
The class itself is tough. But go figure for a and p. His tests are hard but everything is in the powerpoints (and book duh). He takes the time to answer any questions and is pretty clear on what's being said. The problem for most (me) is not doing slot if studying outside of class. YOU HAVE TO STUDY...ALOT. he doesn't just give you an A for being there.
Pitts is definately the best a&p prof at apsu.if you want a chance at all for an a take him! he curves all tests and adds extra credit to final grade if you get over 50% on iclicker scores.everything is from powerpoints so just memorize them and go to class.multiple choice tests.dont need book.optional final.
Easiest test out of all the AP intrustors, all multiple choice. Helpful, but not as throughow in lectures as Thompson. Death by power point, if it werent for in class quizes (super easy) you could get his lecture material off d2l almost word for word. Recommend this intructor if you have a full load of classes, AP is alot of info to digest!!!
MOST AMAZING PROFESSOR! He knows everything about everything. He will go way in to depth to help you learn A&P. He cares and will actually help! Test arent that bad if you study. Im making a B but hopefully I can end up making an A. He does iclicker questions (which dont hurt you)but will give you extra credit if you get majority right, TAKE HIM!
Absolutely, positively the best Anatomy and Physiology teacher that exists at APSU. He isn't an easy teacher, you have to work hard. But that should come as no surprise since we're dealing with a subject like Anatomy. He is clear, funny, knowledgable, and grades test fairly, and has the results for them quickly. TAKE HIM! You won't regret it.
Clear and interesting explanations. LECTURES ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE! This is huge for going over information as much as need be. He also makes himself available during office hours to assist in any way he can. His only downfall, not teaching 2020 Fall 2012
This professor is absolutely amazing!! He is the only way to take A&P because he makes things very clear and will help in whatever way he can to make sure that you understand. The class itself is deemed hard but he will put it into terms that are easy to understand but you still have to put a lot of time into studying. I would highly recommend him.
Has to be the best graduate class ever! You will work your butt off to earn an A but its an interesting class and a grad class so its expected to be hard. Start on your paper early and study every day! I MEAN EVERYDAY! Test are fair. Hands on Lab material (frogs, cows, assays) I wish APSU had more physiology or anatomy grad classes!
he is not best world best a&p instructor in apsu. if u want to understand body thoroughly take him . you will never regret hard to get A. you have to study hard. but it is a&p. it is not joke
Best A&P professor at APSU. If you can, take his classes. The slides are super helpful, read the chapters and you'll be good to go. He does use the iClicker and it helps you get an extra credit point or two. I enjoyed this class tons.
Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, cares about student success
Dr. Pitts sets the standards for what a college professor should strive to be, he is understanding, patient, and always willing to help out and listen. His lectures are very thorough, if you miss a day you will be lost, he can move fast, but it is A&P. If you go to class, take notes, and read chapter you will make an A! Great Professor!
He does not use the book and expects you to follow the things in his head for the test.
He's such a great professor! He always asks if concepts are understood while he lectures. The clicker points are very helpful and are often good practice questions for exams he's very easy to talk to about exam grades and seeing what you missed!
I loved Dr. Pitts as a teacher! He was very helpful and interesting to listen to in class. Please choose him as the A&P Teacher, you wont regret it. Their are a total of 5 exams with the comprehensive one to take the place of one of your test if you want. Most of his questions come from the power point! Highly recommend him!
awesome professor i will be taking him for A&P 2, spring2014. Their is alot of material. If you read and study his notes everyday and show up for class, you will pass.To the younger kids taking this coarse, show up for class, take school seriously and you will succeed. I have full time job, 3 kids, and school, and right now i have an A!
Currently taking his Anatomy 2010 class, and I must say he makes AP my favorite class. He is very good at teaching and emphasizes important concepts. I absolutely love his way of teaching! He is very caring of the success of his students as well. The class itself isn't easy because of the material, but he definitely does a great job teaching it.
Took anatomy prior to taking this class and completely failed, Pitts gives you iClicker points daily and that's how he does attendance. His test are multiple choice, but if you want the lectures he posts online you will do fine.
Pitts is a very nice man and does his best to make the class interesting. There is a lot of material and there are very difficult concepts that you will have to study daily to understand.5 exams not including the optional comprehensive which will take the place if your lowest test grade if it is better. If you need Anatomy take Pitts.
He's an incredibly smart man & was always there for extra help. He will patiently explain things several times & in different if you don't understand, just ask. The class overall was very hard, but if you attend class, & study his slides you will do fine.
He is an amazing teacher. His tests are hard like all anatomy tests are but he is helpful. He goes through his power points well and he would definitely be my first choice to take if I had to again!
Great professor! Easy exams if you record the lectures. Gives extra credit on exams.
Seriously the best professor I have ever had. If you read the chapters from the book, it is an automatic A.
Mr. Pitts is great. He doesn't just use test scores for a grade. he so uses iclicker, which is not expensive and it helps your grade. He has Study sessions outside of class. He is very clear in class and doesn't mind answering questons. and is by far one of the best professors ever.
Dr. Pitts is extremely helpful and organized. His class is very hard and so are his tests. The one problem I have with him is that his questions in class and on the test are extremely confusing. If you are good at taking tests in general then you should be fine. YOU HAVE TO STUDY!
You won't learn much with this prof. Tests are not hard. The class is very average.
The class overall is very hard. It's not a matter of memorization. You have to think outside the box to get his multiple choice questions right. He moves quickly through the lectures since there's so much to cover. Then expects you to learn on your own material that couldn't be covered in class.
Dr. Pitts is one of my favorite professors! He is such a nice man and is more then willing to help. He makes things very clear and relatable as well. You will learn a lot of useful info in his class! Just put in the work and i guarantee you will make an A or B.
Super in depth, but will work with you, via email, text, etc. Great professor and really wants everyone to succeed.
Great professor! Will not change grade on exam if you make a mistake unless you are close to another letter grade. I enjoyed his class. Gives iClicker points toward your grade. Make sure you study . Will call out students during his lecture if he sees you sleeping or talking. Makes jokes, makes relations to material. need Book. Taking for 2020
Great teacher, but hard class. I just hate studying biology
love dr. pitts! he is a great professor. i took him for both a&ps and couldnt imagine taking anyone else! get ready to study though, he wont just hand you your grade. you have to study and go to class! he gives great lectures and breaks things down so you understand them better.
Be sure to listen and take good notes, all of the tests come from the lecture.
Dr. Pitts is a really great teacher, he just happens to teach a class most people don't like taking. However, he makes it as enjoyable as it can be. Go to lectures, and do not cram for exams. Study and pay attention and you should be able to pass without a lot of panic. He does give 1-2 extra credit points if you earn them, and will curve exams.
Dr. Pitts lectures in a way that keeps your attention and entertains you from time to time as well, and he's also great at explaining things in different ways so people can understand the material.
pitts is great, A&P is just difficult
I took Dr. Pitts for Anatomy and Physiology I & II, and I really enjoyed both classes. A and P is a really difficult class, but if just study the material and don't cram right before the exam, you can do fine. There are 5 exams and 1 optional comprehensive exam. He asks questions during lecture that can give you an two points on your final grade
The best. Let's just say, if you want to know something, Dr. P is your guy
I loved this course!! Purchase the access code online. You don't need the physical book because it's on the access code. Pay attention in class. The test questions are from the powerpoint lectures.
Dr. Pitts is a very knowledgeable teacher who makes anatomy fun and relevant. There are 5 all multiple choice tests and a cumulative and those are the only grades. Attendance isn't mandatory but you have questions every day in learning catalytics. At the end of the semester, you get extra points dependent on your score. He is very understanding.
Dr. Pitt's is a great teacher that cares and is always willing to answer questions. His class shouldn't be taken lightly because there is a lot of information on the tests. The test are generally around 50 multiple choice questions and two essay/short answer questions. He curves the test so that the average test score is passing.
Dr. Pitts can be very difficult when grading (especially with higher level physiology courses), but you won't find a more fair, compassionate, and regimented person. Advice: watch online lectures on D2L before exams, don't overlook specificity for lab reports. Good luck!
Dr. Pitts is the best professor I had in college. He is tough but fair with his grading. Excellent at explaining, and will go out of his way to ensure you know the material. If you are the kind of person who doesn't like to try or just "get by" you will hate his class, but if you actually care about learning he is full of knowledge.
Dr. Pitts really turned a new leaf for me. Having previously withdrawn for failing anatomy and physiology previously, Dr. Pitt's amazing teaching helped me be successful and walk out with a very good passing grade.
Pitts is a solid professor. A&P just sucks. Read the chapter, go to class, take notes, and review. You will pass. You have to work for it because it is a lot of things, with lots of vocabulary. Solid professor for a hard class.
I loved Dr. Pitts. He was engaging and funny during his lectures. He was tough but fair and more than willing to help a struggling student. There was also extra credit and graded on a curve. I really wish that I could have taken him for 102.
Dr. Pitts is a great teacher but this is a hard course with a lot of material to learn. Good luck
Lectures well and offers extra credit. Tests are very in depth.
He is extremely smart and knows what he is talking about for sure. He really wants you to succeed and is always available outside of class. I had to work extremely hard in this class, but it helps that he is a great teacher. Attendance is not necessarily mandatory, but after missing so many classes it affects your grade.
GREAT Teacher. Best teacher I have ever had. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable, great! Grade is composed of 5 tests with an optional comprehensive 6th exam and thats your grade. He curves tests so the average is a 70%. TAKE HIM! You dont NEED the book, but it does help with studying.
Dr. Pitts is a solid choice for Anatomy. He gives you 5 test and 1 comprehensive exam. The comphrensive test covers your lowest test grade. Make sure to watch online lectures. His test can be difficult because you need to follow his thought process. He does Learning Catalytics for attendance and it can add up to 2% to final grade. Judgmental.
Although Dr. Pitts knows his material very well, he discusses it way too fast. I couldn't keep up with memorizing 3-4 chapters every 2 weeks while also keeping up with my other classes. He also doesn't provide study guides so I was all over the place during my study sessions. This class was a struggle!
Dr. Pitts is the best choice for Biology 2010. This is a really hard class, but Dr. Pitts does an amazing job explaining things and is always available to help you with any questions. You definitely need to study if you want to get a good grade in this class, and his curve will help boost you a little bit with each exam.
I really liked Dr. Pitts. His class was difficult but he is very responsive out of class if you need help. Take more than a week to study for tests, its a lot of material and when honorlock comes on some students forget what they are doing. Participate in Learning Catalytics because it is for a grade and it really helps when it comes time to study.
I loved Dr. Pitts. During his lectures he is able to answer everyones questions effectively. I would 10/10 recommend him! He is one of my favorite teachers. Make sure that you study for his exams or you won't pass. Make sure you put forth the effort. If you have a question he gets back to your quickly. Extra Credit given at the end of the semester.
A&P is difficult and requires a lot of studying, but Dr. Pitts really cares and does everything he can to make sure students do well. He is extremely knowledgeable and explains complex concepts very very well. My class had LOTS of questions during lectures, and he answered every single one and made sure the person asking understood. Great professor
The material is difficult, but Dr. Pitts makes it interesting. Always read the PowerPoints before class, and study consistently youll do well.
I had Dr. Pitts for A&P I and II, and he is so good at what he does! I do suggest reading the chapters before lecture, it'll pay off. He also uploads prerecorded lecture on D2L, but still go to class because his live lectures are so much better! He gives 6 exams and drops your lowest grade, and also gives up to 2% extra credit through LC.
Dr. Pitts is a great professor, however, his anatomy class is very hard. The only grades you get in this class are from the exams. He throughly explains the material and quickly responds if you have questions. If studying isn't your thing, I wouldn't recommend this class.
Dr. Pitts was amazing! I took him for A&p 1 and 2 online and in-person. He only gives 5 grades which are your exams. The lowest exam does get dropped. It is very important to watch his lectures and ask questions! He makes you work for your grade but is very helpful at explaining things! Amazing teacher!
I love Dr. Pitts. He gets a bad rap sometimes because he does expect you to do work outside of class and there's a lot of notes. But he is an amazing teacher. He is funny, asks questions to make you think, and his lectures keep me interested. If you just show up and listen, you can probably get a C without too much outside work.
He's a good speaker and is always willing to answer questions you have. However, his lectures are very long and he goes through them very quickly so missing his class would be the worst thing you could do. Participation in his class is pretty important. His tests got progressively harder as the semester goes on but he does curve them quite a bit.
Prof. Pitts is great at his job. He genuinely cares about the success of his students. He's passionate about what he's talking about which makes class less boring. His tests can get tough especially since there's a lot of material covered but they're definitely doable if you take notes, pay attention to lectures, and study before all tests.
Dr Pitts is daddy
I don't recommend this class unless you take the S section. The only thing you get a grade for is exams. How he presents the information needed for the exams is poorly taught. He teaches unnecessary material that have nothing to do with the exams. He does not teach from the textbook, I recommend reading the textbook for further help.
He definietely cares about his students and their grades. Office hours have been a wonderful resource, and he answers emails quickly. However, if you don't study you will not pass. He makes lectures interesting, and I do not recommend missing class.
I loved this class!! BE PREPARED TO STUDY! If you aren't going into healthcare or don't find anatomy interesting my advice to you would be not to take this class. He will help you understand any topic you're having trouble with if you go to his office hours and ask but do not expect him to hold your hand. I would REALLY recommend a study group :)
Dr. Pitts is an amazing, humble and supportive professor. His willingness to help his students is admirable. I recommend watching his online lectures before class and utilizing his office hours. This course is not an easy A but if you put the effort and study you will succeed. Dr. Pitts thank you!
I took Dr. Pitts for A&P 1 and A&P 2. I have nothing but nice things to say about this professor. Dr. Pitts will literally go out of his way to help his students. Endless office hours and review sessions facilitated by Dr. Pitts is the reason for my success in his class. He is truly an amazing, supportive professor.
I had him for A&P 1 and 2 and I would take him again for sure, he great at explaining and getting things done in lectures and is very supportive and goes out of his way to help students.
I had Dr. Pitts for both 2010 + 2020 and he made those classes so enjoyable! He would always help when you had questions, explained everything until it made sense, and even helped you outside of class if you needed it. His response time for emailing was VERY fast too! Would definitely take every class with him as the professor!
I loved Professor Pitts and will be taking him for A&P 2. He has a true passion for the material and will truly help anyone. The class is hard but Pitts really tries to make it understandable .
Take advantage of office hours!! Dr.Pitts is amazing. However, you will only get what you put into this class. Study study study.
Dr.Pitts will help you succeed. His tests are strictly what he lectures. If you participate in class and study his lectures you will do well. He is quick to respond to emails and is usually always available in his office for any questions you have. This class requires lots of studying. Best professor and advisor by far!
Dr. Pitts is very engaging and highly responsive to emails. My only critique is that he doesnt teach to the exams. I took the final before going to a last review day lecture and was surprised by how little the review day material reflected the material in the final. A&P is an interesting topic, but you've got to teach to the test at least a little
He is a bad teacher
He is accessible outside of class! By the way, tests 4, 5, and 6 are pretty hard, so make sure to study well for those.
