Very fun to listen too. The class is somewhat challenging, but the way he made you learn really didnt make taking notes all that bad. And believe me...you take plenty of notes
His class was very fun for me. I have no interest in govt and he made me want to come to class everyday. He uses a ton of examples and gives you good notes. Easy to understand him but make sure you study cause his tests are killer
I have taken his class for two semesters now, and i think he is by far the best government teacher at Blinn. He does have a lot of notes, and his tests are hard. He doesnt sugar coat anything though, he explains government like it is. I haven't met anyone who doesn't enjoy this class!
he has really interesting lectures. he is also a campaign manager and he always wears suits. he uses really good analogies for teaching...makes a boring subject interesting.....tests are pretty hard...you have to pay attention to detail..only drawback is you have to attend a city council meeting and write a paper on it and present in front of class
I have really enjoyed his class, I had no knowledge of my own local government. His tests are a little hard, but I love going to his class!
Best professor at Blinn. Well prepared and organized. Excellent power point notes.Great lecturer! His lectures are always interesting and on point while incorporating humor. Always engages students and encourages critical thinking (which is such a rarity at Blinn College)!
If you want to be challenged then take his class...if you want to learn and make a good grade without making government your life, then DON'T TAKE HIM!!! I hated how he tried to make his class harder than it should have been..
Very nice, and funny teacher. Keeps lectures interesting. Challenges class to ask why. I was on the verge of failing, but met with him and talked to him, and he gave me positive insight and told me what I needed to do. If you don't look at him, and listen to his voice, he sounds like Owen Wilson haha. Very entertaining
He is a great prof. He cares, and makes the students want to care! He challenges students to try in his class! Best prof. I have had at BLINN. I will take him again.
Awesome professor, he knows what he is talking about, he is willing to work with you, and if you pay attention in his class (which isn't hard to do because his lectures are always interesting) you should do great. He presents both sides of every issue unbiased, and lets you make the decision unlike most government profs.
He is an excellent teacher. I will surely take one of his classes again. He is very impressive.
I had no interest in govt and he made me want to come to class everyday, and learn more. He was challenging- but any good prof. will be. TAKE HIM. You will not regret it.
This guy made this class real for me!!! Politics have never been my thing, but Schorlemmer teaches in a way that makes you want to learn more about Texas Govn. hope you keep him around!!!
Great teacher!! always makes class interesting. He will push you to try hard and participte! I would def. take him again!
Perhaps the best teacher I've ever had. He really cares about what he teaches and is very engaging in the class. He never talks to down to students and despite teaching government, he never forces his personal opinions on his students. TAKE THIS TEACHER!!! HE'S AWESOME!!!
So he is amazing. I love this man. He doesnt give much homework because he is a real college prof and I think thats why i did so good. Not very time consuming but you will be mezmorized by him I am sure of it. Please take him. He has so much knowledge
He's the best professor I've ever had, and I'm sorry to say that I know I'll never get one that even comes close to him. He's very interesting, EXTREMELY helpful, loves what he does, and actually KNOWS what he's talking about. Lectures are super boring, but his are AMAZING!!! He keeps you interested! I didn't like government until I took his class!
He is an amazing teacher however his tests are really hard. Go talk to him if you dont do well on the first test and he will help you figure out how to study for his class... he is amazing
Best teacher I've ever had in my college career. I went into his class hating government, and came out loving it! He's not going to just give you a good grade, you have to really work for it. But if you really pay attention and study your notes (which he makes really easy) the night before the test, you're golden. Definite recommend!!
Great prof. He loves his job and knows what he is talking about. His lectures are enjoyable to go to. In order to do well on the tests, know your notes. (So yes, going to class is necessary.) I would definitely recommend him.
So far, he has been my favorite professor! His lectures are very interesting, he is very good at getting you to think about government and form your own opinions! I would recommend him to everyone!
Very good teacher. Makes a mundane subject innteresting. Has a good sense of humor and is very helpful even when you no longer have him as a prof.
Loved him! His lectures were so interesting and everyone got involved. Tests are very clear and easy to understand! Learned a lot. You WILL NOT regret taking him, so please do!
Such a bad teacher and was way too into himself.
Tests are based off the notes you take off his lecture. Notes = test, I didn't open the book once and earned an A in his class. He is interesting and knows what he is talking about. He is willing to explain a topic until you understand it. A few grade boosters along with decently easy tests if you study the notes. I would take his class again.
You have to earn your grade. His lectures are real interesting. His tests were pretty difficult but if you take good notes then you have nothin to worry about. He is an awesome prof and will help you out as much as he possibly can. I would take his class just for the fun of it.
i recommend this professor only if your willing to pay attention and really listen to his lectures because about 90% of his exams have to do with what he says in class so I would suggest to take lots of notes. He's a really cool guy, encourages students to ask questions and actually made government interesting for me!
very hard tests and super long they are 80 questions and the way he words his tests is based off of his notes.... not a easy class requires a lot of studying and even if you memorize the material it is not enough to passed his tests you have to memorize it and understand and be able to talk to another person about the topic.. 1 long project
Mr.S is a great professor! If you can focus during lecture, his tests are pretty straight forward. The big group project is challenging, but it really helps boost your overall grade.
He's tough. He can be high on himself at times but he definitely knows what he's talking about. Tests are long and tedious. If this class isn't a priority, you'll suffer all semester long. Good guy but really tough.
Great professor, you have to read the chapters or be able to take really good notes. I would mind taking his class again bc I really learned a lot. The group project was a little much bc the ppl in my group didn't want to help out until the end. But overall a great class to take. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.
Okay so his test are super hard and long! 75 questions! On the first day of class you get a semester project!! the project sucks because your group members dont take it seriously! its 2 test grades! It will help you or it will hurt you! He really knows what he is talking about and loves class dicussions. he was an overall great teacher!
awesome teacher! not the easiest class, you actually have to study and do this huge project, but totally worth it. he will do anything to help anyone. loves his job! Great guy and politician! highly recommended
Top favorite teacher ever! Hes awesome. The only problem is the test are hard because he hand writes them. Memorize the ppt notes and you'll Ace them. Also theres a group project, and if you're stuck with bad group members just drop them! Ended up with only 2 people in mine at the end. His class taught me how to study and was interesting. Got a B.
Took Texas Govt and hated the content, but loved the prof. He hand writes the tests, so read the book and take notes in lecture! His slides are insanely long, so paraphrase and write down stuff from discussion.
This is the only feedback I have ever left on a professor but it is worth informing other students. He is a great professor, that you don't want to miss out on. Sure, his tests are a bit more difficult than should be, but he cares for his students alot. Show effort in class, and participate and he will take the time to help you. Great guy and class
Such an amazing professor! You can tell that he really cares about his students and wants to bring the best out. He makes you work hard for your grade but at the same time he makes you WANT to work hard for it. My favorite professor so far!
he is very experienced, enjoyable lectures , very interesting class. if you study you make a good grade
He is a great teacher, pretty hard but really knows his stuff I was for sure thinking that I was going to get a B but the final was really easy and I ended up with an A. True college class 3 tests 1 easy project and a final. No homework. Says you need book but I never even opened it
I really liked him. He's extremely smart and taught me a lot about local government. I learned a lot in the class but none of his notes really showed up on the test so thats why I did poorly on them. Big group project that I did not enjoy at all. If you're good with government and you want to learn then I suggest him not if you want a guaranteed A
Please don't take him!!! He is very nice but his teaching is very confusing!! His test are nothing like his lectures
My favorite prof since coming to Blinn! You MUST take notes and jot down important things that he says. His tests are kind of hard but as long as you read over your notes a few times before exams, you should be fine. Don't let the easiness rating scare you! TAKE HIM!
Schorlemmer makes you work for your grade. He's very interesting and likes teaching. Doesn't read from a powerpoint- which is refreshing. Tests are hard especially if you're not taking notes in class and reading the chapters. He is extremely helpful though- always willing to meet and discuss anything you're lost on or don't understand.
I loved his class! He is fun and knows what he is talking about. I love his lectures because he always gets the point across while keeping the class tuned in. He is smart and will help you if you need it.
He makes his own tests which were kind of rough at first, but he is always there to help and LOVES teaching. He is clearly passionate about Government. We had 4 tests and 1 group project. The group project took the most time all semester of anything else. Although I got a B in the class, I would recommend him and retake him. never used textbook.
DON'T TAKE HIM!!! HARDEST TEST'S I'VE EVER TAKEN. 1000000000000000000 THUMBS DOWN.
Hardest professor I have ever taken. Makes you work for your grade and has a huge group project that is rather difficult. DO NOT take him unless you're really into politics
Makes government interesting, but not a super easy class. He lectures and uses PowerPoint slides but doesn't post them online or give study guides. As long as you show up and take notes it isn't hard to get a solid B. He truly cares about the subject, is very funny, and pretty attractive! I would love to take another one of his classes!
He is the worst teacher I've ever had!!!! Do not take him. I'm an Ab student and I failed this class. His tests are the most difficult I have ever taken, and he gives no curve or extra credit. His class is almost impossible. DO NOT TAKE
This guy knows his stuff! He cares and that puts him above most professors at Blinn. He put a lot of time in for me and my group outside of class. I felt challenged and respected as a student. Blinn College should give him raise and put him in charge.
BEST TEACHER EVER!!!! If you are a real student, take him. If you are lazy or in school because your parents are forcing you, don't.
Schorlemmer is an awesome guy. Although the tests are harder, don't let that dissuade you from taking the class. I hated government before I took his class and now really enjoy it. His lectures are awesome and the tests come STRAIGHT from the lectures. Show up, take notes, spend some time in his office and you'll do fine.
Make sure to only study the notes, don;t even buy the textbook. Study them well, the tests are multiple choice but very difficult. You also have to participate in a rigorous group project. Not recommended if you want easy credit. It's a very interesting class though. Take him if you want an interesting challenge. Most students don't.
VERY passionate about the subject. If you miss class, you're screwing yourself, however, as tests come out of both spoken word and powerpoints put up alongside his lecture. Cares greatly about students. Office hours can help massively. He is the professor that you go back to visit in 10 years. Group project counts for 25% of final grade. Hard tests
Big group project at the end. Test are very hard. But he isn't impossible to listen to, I actually liked his lectures. He expects a lot from you as far as effort. If you try and he sees that he'll be more likely to help you. Sit at the front and take notes.
His class is not easy, but he made government so interesting. Really relates it to real world issues and explains everything very thoroughly. You WILL NOT pass if you don't go to class because his tests are directly from his powerpoint notes which aren't online. Never used the textbook. Participation in group project is vital.
He was a great teacher. The only grades are the 4 tests and a project. He doesn't give any extra credit. Just go to all the classes and make sure you study a lot because his tests cover A LOT of material.
I took him for a minimester and loved it. He's a great tecaher. He'll answer questions let you see your test. Definitely makes you work for it on the test. He's more about understanding the concepts rather than vomiting up the things he has said word for word
Took Mr. Schorlemmer for the May Mini-Mester. He's an active campaign manager + politician & professor so you get a real advantage with him over other professors who just teach it and aren't politicians. He absolutely made it very interesting, wish he taught other classes too. Study your notes and you'll pass, you get out what you put into it.
Took minimester. It was really long, but fun. I did not study that much and still got a B. It is easy if you have a little understanding of TX gov. but if you don't then ask questions and he will explain very well.
His tests can be difficult if you do not study, tests cover your notes and his power points. Overall he does a good job at keeping you awake and interested in the subject. I loved his class an i actually learned even though i hated politics before. He is hot by the way!!!! Would def take again.
if you go see him outside of class he is really helpful
Two words: Life Changing.
WORST professor I've ever had. Sad part is that he is really cool & easy to get along with but an AWFUL teacher. he talks for hours but then your tested over something completely different in the hardest way possible. you can not even read the text book and pass a test. No homework & no extra credit. only 1 huge time consuming project & 4 test.
This class was so much fun! The lectures were super interesting and enjoyable! For the tests, you basically have to remember the whole lecture for the exams because he writes his own tests and there's no review. You really have to work for your grade. But it was a very cool class and I learned a lot!! DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK!
Best prof at Blinn. He loves what he's doing & cares about his students. UTILIZE HIS OFFICE HOURS. He likes to talk & he's interesting too. Don't bother reading the book. I studied the book meticulously for the first two test & made Cs. On the 3rd, I didn't open it & made a high A. Take good notes & study those. There's also a big group project.
Didn't like his class very much; I felt like his lectures were boring and redundant, but I still managed to save my grade at the end. Almost all the questions on his test are trick questions, and the material comes almost solely from his lectures. Also, he likes to categorize everything into winning and losing, so get ready for 16 weeks of that.
MEMORIZE EVERY STAT EVER GIVEN TO YOU. The tests are tough, if you study they aren't too hard. Take diligent notes but, that won't be hard, he's a great teacher. He is energetic in the classroom and keeps the class involved. Attendance sheet is passed around, you could get your friends to sign you in but I highly recommend going to his class.
Professor Schorlemmer is AWESOME! I would definitely take the class again. His test are tough, so studying is a necessity. All of his test questions come directly off of his lectures, so DO NOT BUY THE BOOK!! There is a pretty lengthy group project, but it was honestly one of the best parts of taking his class.
Overall great person. I would not take his class again though because I needed an A. Tests are super hard and you get a stupid project that takes up a lot of time. He will help you out but it doesn't make the tests any easier. I felt clueless in the class.
If you are passionate about politics and wish to go further with that profession I encourage you to take his class, but if you are taking his class for credit hours I do not encourage you to take his class. There is only 4 tests and one project that counts as two test grades at the end. His tests are very long and difficult!
My project group scheduled a meeting with him several days in advance for a set time. The group from the previous time slot ended up running into our time by 30 minutes, and he didn't even apologize. He also had to step out several times during our meeting and answer his phone. He also doesn't give a rubric for the giant group project.
Nice guy, but the class was very difficult. The only grades were 3-4 tests and a semester long project. The tests were difficult and very broad. Even if you study you have a bunch of notes to study and you have no idea what's on the test. He is very big into politics, but if you are just trying to get a credit I reccomed to stay away from this prof
Great professor. He Is very involved in state and local government, loves what he does, and is eager to inspire students passion about it as well. His tests are very challenging but definitely doable. I knew almost nothing and cared very little about government until I took his class. It has defineatly been one of my favorites so far.
Best advice for this class: NEVER SKIP. He has no notes online so EVERYTHING that will be on the test is said during his very lengthy lectures. He can ramble on one questions for 15 minutes simply because of how passionate he is. The tests are hard and required you knowing ALL the information reviewed in class. Show up, study, and listen!
A real solid dude. Make sure you write down everything on his powerpoints in addition to what he says. He writes his own tests.
Gives you a semester long project and explains none of it. If you like listening to boring lectures, this is a good class for you! Only take tests and the project, nothing else to help your grade. Definitely don't recommend taking.
I enjoyed his class a lot. He really knows his stuff. He will like you and grade easier on you if you participate in class. Ask questions. He has a lot of interesting stories in government if you ask. Write down every word he says. His tests are all over what he says in lectures.
His lectures are amazing he really enjoys what he does but his test are impossible and there isnt much cushion if you do bad. there are 500 points 4 test and a project with each being 100 points and it was a really good class but extremely hard
Absolutely amazing. I looked forward to his class constantly and was extremely sad when the semester ended. Hilarious, engaging, makes a boring subject very interesting and fun. Make sure you write down everything he says - anything is fair game for the tests. The only grades are tests and a semester long project, not much wiggle room. Loved a lot
I wrote down everything on his slides and stuff he said and made A's/B's on the exams. Literally just make a quizlet/ flashcards of everything he says, memorize them, and you'll be fine. It's a lot of work and I usually don't get a lot of sleep the night before exams but it's worth it. project is taken seriously so STAY ON TOP OF IT!!
He is an amazing professor. He is willing to work with you on things you missed on the tests. There is a huge semester long project that does take a lot a lot of time so if you just want a simple history class then don't take this one. I promise you will learn more than you ever wanted too!!
Schorlemmer is AMAZING. The best prof. I've ever had. Tests are hard, but he boosts your grade with a group project to get you out and active in your local government. If you successfully complete the project he has a surprise gift (gotta take the class to find out). Definitely learned things related to life I never would have thought.
Schorlemmer's class literally changed my life. Through his semester long project (which was honestly a real pain at the time) I got active in state government and it opened doors to many other opportunities. This class is what you make it. You can show up and take the test, or the dude can get you places if you're willing to work for it.
I am so happy I got him my first semester of college. He is truly a professor that cares and knows what he is teaching. He makes you look forward to class. The entire class you will do a group project so choose wisely and you will have an amazing new group of friends. He does not give homework other than your project requirements. Test are hard!
Grade is only based on 4 hard test all semester
Find a good group to work with for the project cuz its a 1/3 of the grade. there are four tests which i didn't find terribly difficult. the project isn't as hard as it seems. overall he's a amazing professor and i actually learn. people give him bad rating for the grade but that's only cuz they dont study. if u study youll at least get a B
Least favorite professor I've had. A guy with good intentions who executes his class poorly. Q-dropped his class because when I went to him to discuss the giant group project and talk about how unmotivated and absent my group members were, he didn't care at all and offered to help but to do it myself. I normally make A's too so I was disappointed.
He is a very good professor and his lectures are actually interesting. The tests are kind of hard, but if you study and listen closely in class you will do good. The group project is a BIG deal so be sure you get with a good group and choose a topic you actually care about. If you don't want to work hard, I would not recommend taking this class.
Tests are HARD. Anything he says in class is fair game so you have to learn how to read him. 4 tests including the final and a semester long group project which counts for 1/3 of your grade. Meet weekly with him and then again with just your group. I had a solid 65 the whole semester and ended up with a B as my final grade. Have to work hard.
He's a pretty good professor and is very passionate about what he teaches. His tests are just super hard, but as long as you do well on the group project you'll be fine, just make sure to get a good group. I had a D in the class, but the project brought me up to a B. Also make sure you go to class and listen or you won't pass his exams.
Schorlemmer is passionate about politics and it shows in his lectures. The class is hard. Your final grade is based off of 4 difficult exams and 1 semester long group project. Write down everything he says, it could be on a test! Expect to work hard. But he is there to help, all you have to do is ask.
This class is not for the weak. You will work hard to maintain a good grade. Schorlemmer is a great professor and is always willing to help you succeed. He will try to bring the passion out in his students. His tests are extremely hard, and the project is very hard too. DO NOT EXPECT TO PASS EASY. Schorlemmer will teach you many life lessons.
He's a cool professor, but you only get graded on 3 tests, your final, &the majority of your grade comes from a semester long group project. Its fun to meet new people but its so much work & you have to be extremely involved in it or youll fail. The group project is worth like 30% of your final grade. & you have meetings w/ your group weekly.
He was friendly and entertaining, but I would not recommend. Tests are extremely difficult and you are required to do a group project that lasts all semester long.
This is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. That being said, Schorlemmer is always willing to help you as long as you ask and work for it. Do NOT take this class for an easy A. You will need to work hard to study for exams, take extensive lecture notes, and the group project requires so much involvement, it's like another class in itself.
Throughout this course there are 4 exams that are extremely difficult, and a semester long project. I never expected a government class to be so time consuming and stressful. Everything professor Schorlemmer says during lecture is fair game for the exams. Earning an A in this class takes an immense amount of time, attention, and effort.
This class was interesting haha. Mr. Schorlemmer was a great prof & very inspirational and funny, but he definitely makes you work for the grade. Also, there are only 4 tests & 1 long semester project which was a pain so work hard on that and get a good group. Push through though because there is a reward at the end of class for those who stay!
This class is very easy if you just put in some effort and study for tests. The group project is a lot of fun and not a lot of work since you are with a large number of people. Prof S. is one of the funniest people I have ever met, and his lectures are NEVER boring. I get sad when class is over because each lecture is like a story time. TAKE HIM!!
Really enjoyed this class inspite of hating Govt. Prof is great and really passionate about class. There is a semester long group project, not difficult, just time consuming. GET A GOOD GROUP! Exams are difficult so study. Project is 1/3 of grade so it helps balance the exams. Prof is always available. Take good notes! Thanks Schorlemmer!
Gilbert is a great professor. If you show up to class, pay attention and take notes, you will be set. If you put in effort and show that you care, he will return the favor. He is truly inspirational in how he teaches and as a person. Take thiS class, you will love it and do awesome IF YOU TRY AND CARE. BEST PROFESSOR IVE EVER HAD AND BEST CLAS
Attend lecture every week, because anything he says while in class could be on the tests. Tests were hard and there is no study guide, so study all of your notes. The group project was so unnecessarily difficult and worth 1/3 of your grade so PICK A GOOD GROUP!
-not an easy A but if you put in the work it is definitely attainable -cool funny dude and knows what he is talking about -enjoyed his class and learned so much -big group project which involves heavy work outside of class -wants his students to learn and do well -willing to meet outside of class -go to class and TAKE NOTES!
TAKE HIM! Schorlemmer was my hands down favorite teacher. He really cares about his students (the ones who put effort). If you go into his office he will talk to you about anything you need from the project to tests. He does study groups before test GO TO THEM every time I went I made 95+ on his tests. Choose wisely for your partners in your group.
I would not take this class if youre trying to pass. Although it is possible to pass, I did not learn much from this class. He based the entire semester off 4 hard test and one group project. Its not worth it, choose a different professor.
Schorlemmer was an awesome professor. He's pretty funny so his lectures aren't that miserable. There is one major group project which takes up the entire semester but this project is fun if you aren't afraid of communicating. He is very helpful outside of the classroom and will put in the time and effort for you to make a good grade in his class!!!
Schorlemmer is a great professor. Go to his classes cause all the tests are based around the lectures he gives. He is super funny and if you need help, he'll make time. The group project takes a small toll on you but you definitely learn from it. If you are lazy, this class isn't for you. Be ready to work, the stronger your work ethic the better.
Take this class! Schorlemmer is such a homie. As long as you pay attention and study hard for his tests and participate in the project you'll get an A. Hands down one of the best professors I've ever had.
If you're a good worker, then this class is for you. If you want to be lazy, then don't take this class. The project has literally changed my life and my mindset of how politics works and is nothing like any class I've ever taken! In the best way! Gil is more than a professor, he's a friend and mentor. TAKE THIS CLASS and WORK HARD!
This class is Hard! I was in Texas Government and you are graded on 3 exams 1 year long group project and your final exam. The group project is 30% of your final grade and its running a campaign. Its hard and very time consuming but is also a lot of fun. I would recommend going to every class because their are no reviews for the exams. (quizlet)
Gil is one of my all-time favorite professors! His tests are a little difficult, but as long as you show up to class and study a little bit, they aren't that hard. The group project is a major grade but as long as you participate and involve yourself don't worry about what you'll end up making. For sure take this class!
Schorlemmer is a great prof and I learned more than I ever have about government. BUT you have to study. I studied and got high As on all tests but I know many people failed them so STUDY. ALSO, WORK hard on your project and meet with him he is always willing to help. One of my favorite teachers ever, be prepared to WORK HARD.
I don't know a single person that didn't like him. I am being 100% serious when I saw if you miss class, you wont pass. The littlest things show up on his exams. There is a semester long project that makes you really work, BUT it is really fun IF you pick the right group. If you really get to know him, then he is more generous later on if u need it
GO TO CLASSS! Gil is the best professor ever and so kind and really cares about this class. His lectures are interesting and are based around the tests. There is a huge project in the class so when you go to pick a group, pick wisely. The project is a lot but very fun and informative.
Schorlemmer is one of the best professors Ive ever had in my life. He is so passionate and makes class fun. Make sure you go into this class with an open mind. You need to have time for this class. And you will have a HUGE project. PICK YOUR GROUP WISELY. But mostly have fun! Enjoy him and his class. Good luck!
Professor Schorlemmer is hands down the best professor I have ever had. All of the content is delivered in an easy to understand way. For the first time in my college career, I was genuinely exited to attend his classes. The group project is so much fun and makes the class go by like a breeze! 10/10 recommend him for any GOV class
The tests are hard, the most difficult i have taken. Yet the group semester project opens your eyes and he cares so much about government and his students.
only homework is a GROUP project that's HUGE. Prof is laid back, keeps your attention & a plethora of knowledge. TAKE NOTES & don't cram the night before, you'll fail every test. 1st is the hardest in my opinion.
His lectures are entertaining and he makes the material relevant and interesting. If you skip class, you won't pass the test because the questions are straight from his lectures so pay attention and TAKE NOTES! Your overall grade will come from test grades and a MAJOR semester long group project. Pick a good group and you should do fine.
Gil is by far the best teacher you could ever ask for! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend him. Funny guy, and he makes the information more conversational so you're not bored to death. There's a small group project that's super fun, so my only advise is pick a solid team and you'll do great :) Thanks again Gil, hug your goats for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gil is an awesome professor!! Theres a big group project you have to do that consumes your life though. Also the tests are really hard. Hes a great guy and great professor but his class is hard so if you arent willing to put in the work then dont take his class.
The best prof at Blinn. You run a whole campaign in groups and it gets intense. You make so many friends. Campaign project is worth majority of your grade, lectures are fun and exams require you to study. Lots of outside work, but worth it.
Professor Schorlemmer will forever leave an impact on me. I've never been really involved in politics until his class. There is a semester-long group project; this is a campaign. Please pick a good group because it counts for 40-60% of your grade. Tests are pretty easy if you write down all the notes from lectures. He definitely brought a smile :)
This has been my favorite professor I've ever had. I have never understood government as much as I do now. Hands down would take again. If I was on campus and had nothing to do I would literally go to his lecture for fun. If you are at lecture consistently you will understand the class.
GIL THE GOAT!! Incredible gov teacher that actually makes it interesting. He has experience as a campaign manager and keeps it real and fun. Every week there are two chapters you have to read and do activities for (all are honorlocked but it's open book) and then you have an exam on them every week. Such a gem and super understanding and hilarious!
I was wary to take this class because GOVT isn't really my thing but he made this class enjoyable. He is hilarious and has engaging lectures. I took this class in 8 weeks and we had 80 quizzes and 8 exams which was literally insane but if you manage your time well, it's not as bad. Also, if you are struggling, talk to him!! He is very reasonable.
Gil is the best professor I have ever had, he's such a cool down to earth guy, the only thing that kept me from getting a better grade was the exams. There were 3 exams and they were super hard, I think it made it harder because the main focus of the class is a big group campaign project, so we didn't get tons of detailed lecture.
Professor Schorlemmer will easily be one of the best professors Ill have in college. Hes an extremely caring, funny, and smart guy and his lectures and massive group project are extremely enjoyable. He seems very passionate about his class and will always be there if you need him.
Outstanding professor. very good at keeping students engaged and wanting to learn. He has helped me look at groupwork in a constructive light
10/10 professor, he really connected with his students I feel like. he's also funny and laughs at his own jokes even if they aren't funny
10/10 professor, he really connected with his students I feel like. he's also funny and laughs at his own jokes even if they aren't funny. we did a super fun real project but sadly he isn't doing it anymore.
Never had a professor this real and down to earth. He is hilarious and he talks to his students like he is talking to a friend. Very simple grading criteria where you can basically get a guaranteed B just by doing all of your homework. loved this guy
Really cool guy but a terrible professor who doesn't use reviews on exams and lectures are not helpful for the exams.
Prof. Schorlemmer is a wonderful professor he gives great lectures that teaches you very well. The class is simple and laid out well to make it as easy as possible for the student. He is also very good at communication outside of class. Would strongly recommend for Texas Gov.
Professor Schorlemmer is a great Govt 2306 Blended class instructor. His teaching style was exactly what I needed to pass this class. His class structure is straight forward and it's all in the students hands to get the grade they want. Attending class isn't mandatory, but it's highly encouraged. His lectures were extremely helpful for the exams.
I loved proff Schorlemmer. I took him for 2 classes and really enjoyed both. He is super down to earth and connects with students very well. His lectures were always interesting and he tries to make them as easy to understand as possible, and he's willing to help with whatever questions you have.
Easiest class ever but the professor was bad. The Blinn ECampus website was down and it didn't allow me to take my exam 1, and I met with him and "compromised" by giving me a 40. Don't take him if you don't want to be cheated.
The class is really textbook heavy but he gives you all the resources you need to do well. He didn't have PowerPoints for most of his lectures so be ready to take notes and pay attention in class. We had a lot of homework but most of it was pretty simple and the tests held less importance as a result. He is a really funny guy and kept my attention
I thoroughly enjoyed professor Schorlemmer. There is no PowerPoint in class, so get ready to listen. Things he addresses in class are on exams, so attending is a must. About 60% or so of grades are homework and quizzes, which is an easy 100. I did poorly every exam and still got an A. He is very caring and he likes to crack a lot of jokes.
Prof. Schorlemmer gave amazing lectures that covered info on the tests. He also gave PowerPoints and outlines that really helped with reviewing. Amazing prof, super funny and entertaining. If you go and listen/ask questions you'll do great in class. Easy homework that helps you study and talk about your own opinions. 10/10 recommend this class!!!
He's him.
Good professor, i see alot of people saying the test were difficult but they were fairly easy as long as you review notes/ powerpoint/ flashcards, other than that a guaranteed A. The homework makes up a large percent so as long as you are keeping up with it you are set. Expect at least 1 gasoline joke
I took this professor in an eight-week government course and overall would recommend taking this professor. Although lectures are not mandatory, attending them makes understanding the material easier and the exams easier. His lectures are entertaining and he engages well with his students, asking questions and ensuring that students are engaged.
Professor Schorlemmer makes this class engaging and fun. His lectures are super helpful, and using unstuck ai alongside the textbook really boosted my understanding and prep. Highly recommend this class!
Professor Schorlemmer, gives a clear grading scale at the very start of the course. As long as do all your homework and do decent on the exams it is a A. Test material is not completely covered in the lectures, but the Ecampus material will give you hints. Great Teacher, lecturer, person and mentor!
Take notes in class, highlight what he says to highlight- it will be on the exam. It is helpful to read the textbook. The Inquisitive is not too bad and also helpful for exams (bolded words on the power point too!). Took 8weeks blended with him and enjoyed every class, he has energy and never got boring. Speak up in class. Lots of cool stories.
He is a great prof! The only grades are homework and tests, but the homeworks are easy and if you do decent on the tests you can get away with an A. Attending class helps with understanding and his lectures are actually entertaining and engaging. Would recommend!
Attendance is technically not mandatory, but you won't pass because all of the exams are based on his lectures and very little textbook material (skimming the posted powerpoints will do). He is so funny, knows what he is talking about, and always helpful if you are just respectful and try in the class. Super chill guy overall. TAKE HIM!!!
Prof. Gil is a great professor and man in general. One of the best professors at blinn and someone I want to get coffee with. He is very relational and has real-world experience with everything that he teaches. Class is not too hard, I would just pay attention in his lectures, what he says in class will be on the exams.
Wish I could take him again!! Definitely one of my fav teachers at Blinn. Attendance isn't mandatory, but lecture material is on the test, and if you show up, it's really easy to get an A.
This was the BEST professor I have ever had. He was so helpful to me and my friend and worked very hard to help us do the best we can on tests. HIGHLY recommend if you want a good grade and to actually learn something. He genuinely cares about his students doing good and does NOT make you feel dumb if you don't understand something. TAKE THE CLASS!
