Great teacher!!! I was scared with this class, but he makes every topics accessible to different students levels.
I recommend this professor to everyone. Very smart and self-explanatory.
I really enjoyed this class. The teacher was really cool he gave us a lot opportunities to get our grades up. For his first time in palm beach state college he did great.
This class was so easy for me! He is a great teacher though sometimes he makes things way more confusing than what they actually are! He has a passion for math and that's what i love but if your not good at math i probably wouldn't take him. He does allow for extra credit and gives reviews for the test! I have 100 in the class!
He is sometimes hard to understand when he speaks due to an accent BUT he makes up for it by writing everything you need to know on the board and giving many examples to help clarify the topic. Great teacher and you can tell he cares about what he is teaching and his students.
Amazing professor. One of the few from the college I have taken that actually seem to care about their students. He gives good examples of problems and works it all out step by step for you. Gives you chances for extra credit.
When students ask questions he makes you feel dumb. Most of the time he doesn't understand your question. His thick accent makes him hard to understand, but it's worse when he doesn't understand the students questions. Classes aren't interesting, you just sit, watch & take a lot of notes.
I have never been good at math, and this is the first time ever I've received an A. Yes he has an accent, but he is a great professor. He gives test reviews that are exactly like the tests, so you know what and how to study. He helped me so much, and he gives extra credit EVERY test. Anyone complaining just did not pay attention. He HATES phones!
he is very hard to understand and he makes students feel stupid when they ask any questions. He also is not willing to help. He calls his students lazy however he graphs 15 points on one line and hops all over the place. He gives a lot of extra credit but extra credit does not make up for horrible teaching methods. He is overall pretty rude.
I do not know why some students are not honest about him. He cares a lot of the students, and always is willing to help. If you study you pass the class, if you don't you'll fail for sure. I took MAT1033 with him and won't be the last one.
he really is not worth taking. When you ask him any questions it's near to impossible for him to answer them. Unless you are a math pro do not take him. He confuses students by writing all over the board.
He is very rude and is not there for his students he rarley answers questions and when he does he is super sarcastic. He cannot teach to sav ehis life. Save yourself some trouble do not take him!!!
John Locke once said, "No mans knowledge goes beyond his experience." The breadth and depth of Professor Castaneda's knowledge is exceptional. He eloquently makes abstract concepts tangible. It is clear that he has a plethora of experience for which he is able to recall during his lectures. A marvelous professor- fair and just. Take his course!
Professor Castaneda is very clear from day one. He makes sure you understand everything before he moves on and if you dont ask during class just because you didn't want to interupt or you are shy, he stays with you and makes sure you feel comfortable with the subject. He wants you to understand and learn.
Professor Casteneda goes above and beyond to help you understand. He simplifies the material in his lectures to make it as understandable as possible. He is devoted to and passionate about his students doing well. I wish he could be my professor for all my math related subjects. If you really want to learn the material, he's your guy.
The bad reviews about Professor Casteneda are from people who probably belong in a prep class before taking his class. It's sad to see people bashing this professor when the problem is clearly their lack of being able to understand the material. Trying to battle your teacher is never the way to solve problems. He deserves the upmost appreciation.
To be honest he has a strong accent when he specks, you can't understand half of the things he says. If you ask for help you will be embarrassed because he makes sure everyone in the class knows what your having trouble with. Don't do it.
Professor Castaneda gets bashed for his strong accent but is a very good teacher. I got a C in the class because I missed multiple days but he helped me as much as he could for me to catch up. He is a very intelligent man and is very passionate about the subject he teaches so don't let his accent stop you from taking his class!
First off If you're reading this your probably in the same boat as i was, only teacher that had the right class timing for your schedule. Well don't make the same decision i made and chose this teacher. He's a horrible math professor first off. His lectures aren't clear at all which is mainly caused by his heavy accent.
I took Professor Castaneda for College Algebra (MAC1105) during summer 2016. If you are serious about learning and want to do well you will be very successful in his class. He is very helpful and caring. He will make sure you do well in his class. However you must meet him half way by coming to class and being prepared to work and learn.
Professor Castaneda is awesome he has an accent but you can thoroughly understand him. He is very helpful and really cares about his students and really tries to help them pass. His notes are exactly what is on the tests if you study the notes you will pass, Wonderful Prof!!
He cares about his students. Tries his very best to help you but I would not take his course again. His accent makes it difficult to understand when hes explaining the material. He tries but for me the way he tried was not helpful. I was in the mathlab after EVERY class. I love math but if you cant thoroughly explain to me ill be confused. hes ok.
This class was really hard for me personally I don't like math but I ended up passing and Professor Castaneda really cares for his students. The only thing I didn't like was him doing notes all over the board like it was hard to keep up sometimes but I recommend him.
I have tremendous respect for Professor Castaneda. He's been able to accomplish more than most people that come to the US. He genuinely cares about students willing to learn. He know not everyone loves math and makes it very possible to learn the material. Highly recommend him.
Professor Gilberto is hard to understand due to his heavy accent. He also skips steps when doing problems on the board by doing them in his head. Unless you are extremely good at math I do not recommend you take his course. I had 25 people in my class when it started, the class ended with all but 6 dropping out.
I really liked professor Castaneda, every time I have to take a math class, I always look for his name, is a very easy grader, and he helps A LOT,
I believe that he means well but sometimes his lectures just don't hit the level I need them to to fully understand. (He feels that if you're in this class that some of the basic fundamentals should not have to be explained). He gets off beat and starts showing us the way he was taught math in cuba which can be confusing at times.
Although, Professor Castaneda has an accent . He teaches thoroughly and he makes sure that you understand the concept of what's being taught. he gives you the opportunity to earn extra credit. also, if he notice that you maybe in jeopardy of failing his class, he'll speak to you one-on-one about your grade and he'll help improve grade.
Professor Castaneda was not such a bad professor he gives about 5 tests not including the final but he is understanding with the grading. He takes 5 points off your final and adds it to your lowest score. He tends to get a little off topic when teaching since he starts talking about cuba but overall he was not a bad professor. FYI textbook not used
Weakest professor I have ever taken in my 3 semesters of college he rarely explains himself and will cover 5 lesson in a class period and when you ask him to explain he acts like its impossible. Had to drop the class before even getting to the midterm. He is a great guy don't get me wrong but if you have trouble with math this isn't the class for u
I liked professor Castaneda. He has an accent and a dry, humorous personality. I had fun in his class. If I would have worked a little bit harder, would have gotten an A for sure. He is very cut and dry though and wants you to work for the grade.
So difficult to understand. Super heavy accent. Seems nice, but gets frustrated so easily. It was not comfortable for me to learn from this man.
Nice teacher & you can tell that he cares. The problem is that your graded only by the test. The lessons are quick and your scared to ask questions bc he expects you to know ahead of time the material from Elementary & up. gives you a similar review to test but unless your really good at math not average take him. You will have to teach yourself.
If you choose him because you hes your last resort , you better be very good at math & the concepts. Hes nice but doesnt explain the material & have to teach yourself. No HW & your only graded by the test scores which suck. He expects you to know the material before he teaches it. If you work outside of school it will be tough.
He is the best math teacher I ever had. He really cares about his students, even though the class is a little difficult he explained everything the way he has to, and if you have any questions he dont get tired of explained you over and over again. I would take him again!
I highly recommend sitting at the front of the class, every class. It worked for me and I passed Intermediate Algebra with an A. Prof. Castaneda moves fast and if you miss a day it really does impact your test. Save your money and dont buy a textbook. Castaneda cares if he sees that you want to learn. Show effort & he is a lenient test grader.
He is the best professor ever. he is very caring and help students to learn all the material they need. You can see him outside the class and he is always winning to help you. His test are easy just practice the test review and you will be fine. He gives extra credit.
If you want to learn, he is the right person
This guy is amazing! Who cares if he has an accent when you can understand everything perfectly. I really love him
Love him!!!! What a great profesor and human being.
This profesor has a very strong latin accent but that means nothing compared to the quality of his classes. He really knows math and explains everything very clear.
Very good class. I never liked math but Professor Castaneda explains everything very well, and I kinda love it!
Flexible and available out of classroom, has the competence, patience, dedication and love for math to teach it until you understand it. Send some of the best reviews for the test, clear grading criteria, you know the topics and pass the exam youll get good grades , simple as that. Not much homework and very forgiving on absences.
I cannot believe people gave a bad review to professor Gilberto when he is an amazing and caring professor. He explains everything really well and the tests are easy. I love him.
Loved the way he teach and gives extra credit. Test are nice and easy. I highly recommend him
He does have accent, but I loved this class. I don't like math, and for some unknown reasons, my major needs a lot of maths uff. It's not an easy class, but he makes it understable. On tests will be what he explained on class, no hidden questions like others professors do. I don't know any spanish, and I got an A. Highly recommend him.
Good teacher but, has a heavy accent. Since English is not his first language there can be some misunderstandings or he can struggle to explain his though process but, other than that he is an excellent teacher.
He is an amazing professor! No book needed, tests are exactly as the practice tests... And he gives you so many chances to obtain extra credit! up tp 5 points PER TEST! he literally wants you to pass the class...
His has a clear syllabus and sticks to it so you have no surprises for your grade. Using mymathlab software every week you do the homework, test, extra credit practice test, then go to class for a Quiz. The math is hard but he helps explain it. Try to do a little each night. He responds quickly to email. Great professor
He is very good. He will help you if you are struggling. Some times he can be a little rude but thats because the accent. Take him if he is available.
He is very good and help you if you are falling. Dont let his accent keeping you from getting a class with him. You wont regret it.
Amazing. He is really funny.
If you are thinking of taking a math class, HE IS THE BEST! He is always there to help you even after class and really cares about his students. He gives so many chances to raise the grade up and even goes over some questions that may be on the test. Just study his reviews and do your homework, and you'll be fine!
Hard but amazing classes.
He is nice and a great person, he is good at what he does . On the other hand, if youre bad at math and you tend to do bad on tests... dont take him. This class is composed of just tests and extra credit is an extra question on the test. There is nothing to help your grade out everything is based on tests.
He's the worst professor I've ever had. I didn't learn anything from him. He was too fast and apparently I wasn't the only one failing due to the fact he gave us the option to withdrawal from the class before the semester ends. I wouldn't take his class ever, you won't learn anything from him.
Hw has a strong accent but he is very very VERY smart he will definitely help you if you show interest or you actually want to pass. Hes very understanding. He shows a lot of different ways to answer questions so its easy for all learners
Math is hard, but Castaneda make it a lot easier. He is very understanding and take care of his student. He is very passionate about the subject, and explain even what you suppose to know from before Math classes. Also the course is super well organized and not homework at all.
Professor castaneda is a very smart man and will show you everything you need to know to succeed in his class and any others in the future. He is very good at showing different ways of solving equations so that all learners can do well. Although his accent is relatively strong, you can easily understand what hes explaining to you.
I've never felt the need to write reviews about professors, but when I had professor Castaneda I felt I had no choice. I have never had a teacher who was cut and dry, inspirational and caring all in one. Ironically the man speaks minimal English, but his teaching style was so extraordinary I personally sent him a thank you when the semester ended.
He surely made my life easier by not assigning us homework, but the downside of no homework is no practice. I went to the math lab like 4 times a week for the entirety of the semester to be able to grasp the material he's teaching and perform well on the tests.
Goes over everything you need to pass the tests and gets you ready for algebra, went over homework gave EC when needed
Calculus 1 is the gateway to higher level mathematics, and I'd highly recommend you have someone of Professor Castaneda's caliber there to instruct you. He teaches you only the necessary topics, as well as gives a lot of extra credit and opportunities to improve your grade. Have confidence that this professor will prepare you for Calc 2.
I have never in my life written a review on anything! After taking Professor Castaneda i just had to! Most students think "accent? No way!" but after a few minutes you start to learn and understand the things hes saying. He really cares about his students and does as much as possible to help them pass because he knows how hard it can be.
It is a difficult class, but Castaneda makes it the more simple possible, he gives points for the hw and test are alike worksheets, as long as you do both, worksheets and h.w. you will pass the class, he explains after class and gives a day to study with him before each test! THE BEST PROFESSOR I HAD SO FAR! (He does have a hispanic accent)
Math is my least favorite subject but Professor Castaneda helped me through this class. He has a thick accent which can sometimes make him hard to understand. He grades based off of only the tests so they were really important. He gave my class 4 tests (each test was 25% of the final grade). He's nice though and his reviews helped me out a lot.
My second try at Stats. His class is structured for you to pass. Do the homework, go to lab, get a study buddy, you will be proud of your grade.
Professor Castaneda is an awesome teacher! He is extremely thorough, and explains the math in a way that makes it very understandable. Math is my weakest subject area, and I really enjoyed this class. I took trig with another professor and I failed, I re-took it with him and I passed with a B. I recommend him 100%!!!
Tests are not multiple choice. The only reason I would not take him again is because I prefer multiple choice tests. Reviews resemble tests. Professor has a heavy accent, but can be understood. Cares about his students passing. If you are good at mathmatics you should have no problem. Homework only has to be completed to 70% to get full credit.
If u have a job DO NOT take this class. He has a very strong accent which makes it very hard to understand. The tests are not multiple choice so u either know it or u dont. Everytime we had a question about a topic he would get frustrated. Withdrew. Suggest take a different teacher if youre not the best at math.
He's a good professor and he explains things in details which is good for me because I'm not really good at math. But he tends to put people down who don't pass his class he often says that if your not good at math " you need to leave my class". All his test are written response so you have to really study and work for it.
Hes not a bad professor if you can understand the way he teaches, but THE ALL THE TESTS ARE FILL IN THE BLANK!!!! Doesn't even give you the chance to pass the class, When you raise your hand and he's teaching he gets mad and gives you a problem to do right after and only grades tests
Terrible professor!! Always seems to bring his students down saying they won't pass, than goes into a whole lecture about how we won't pass! All the homework is online, not paper. His lectures are not very clear, just does problems on the board and doesn't explain them than expects us to know how to do it. Would not take for ANY form of math.
Hes a teacher that will make you work if you want to achieve a good grade in his course. He wont sugar coat if youre doing good or bad but will check you if you are out of line. If youre willing to listen and learn hes a good professor.
Professor Castaneda is the best math professor I have ever have. He makes math easy and his lectures are very easy. Pay attention in class, write down everything that he writes down and do the review and I guarantee you would have an easy A. Plus theres no midterm exam and if you pass his 4 test on the semester you wont need to take the final. <3
Im probably the only one that is going to admit that I made it hard for myself. Professor Castaneda knows what he is doing. He explains the work PERFECTLY. Do the work and study, you will pass the class. I was stupid enough not to do that.
Prof. Castaneda is a great professor. Very inspirational, intelligent and fair. He lays out the criteria on day one. This class, naturally, is homework heavy. If you do your hw, and pass your tests, you will pass this class, even without passing the final. People online say his Hispanic accent is strong, Id agree but you will understand him fine.
it was extremely easy to follow through! There are approximately ten homework papers (usually take about an 1 or so) and worksheets. I highly suggest doing the worksheets because they simplify the homework a lot! The tests aren't multiple choice, they were the exact same as the homework and worksheets just different numbers. The work is doable!!!!
He is awesome! He goes above and beyond for his students, he actually cares if you pass and learn. If you don't understand he will keep going over it till you do.
If you are terrible at numbers (like me), I totally recommend Professor Castaneda. He makes every topic very easy to understand and goes straight to the point. You can ask him the same questions multiple times and he will respond to your answers without a problem. Take this Professor, you won't regret it!
Professor was fair, funny, caring. Since subject was tough, I felt that his demonstrations were best suited for someone who already had an understanding.A lot of self teaching after class but I was able to reply the class lectures which helped. No textbook purchase was required but just have a printer and ability to scan/upload.
Professor Castaneda is truly amazing! Math has always been my worst subject and for the first time, I got an A. He is brilliant and really wants his students to learn and succeed. Do your homework and make an effort and hell make sure you pass. He has an accent but it never bothered me. He gives so much extra credit too! Take him! Hes the best!
He is a great professor. He provided power-point slides and worksheets that were helpful when it came to studying for the tests. I did not have to use the textbook.
Professor Castaneda was a good professor. He struggles to give directions and feedback since English is his second language, but his lectures were very effective. Although he does not requires that you attend his lectures, view them anyway to get insight as to how to complete the homework.
Overall he is an okay professor. Yes, he does have an accent but you can still understand what he is saying so that wasn't much of an issue. The HW and tests are through My Math Lab and they were quite easy to do! His lectures are a bit confusing sometimes but he's willing to help anyone that's confused. Not a lot of work just stay focused!!
This guy was great and and if you do the work he wants you to pass
Honestly so easy. Barely any homework, but if we did he allowed 2 weeks to finish it. Attendance is not mandatory for the Covid zoom classes. If you dont pass this class with an A math is not for you.
RUN!! I took this class because of the good reviews but they all lied to me.. He is by far the worst professor ever! He has a heavy accent and is not accessible outside of class and not caring. Many people in my class dropped it or failed. He makes lectures harder than it should be and on top of that his tests are way harder then the homework.
Professor Castaneda is certainly a nice person. However, his College Algebra course is the most difficult class I have had throughout my academic career. Mathematics is not my strong-suit so it almost feels like the course is designed to be unreasonably difficult. Even with all my studying and hard work, I would be lucky to get at least a "C" grade
Look, I have no idea how I passed & math is my worst subject. Pay attention if you struggle like me. Mathway only helped so much. Lots of hw via MyMathab but he gives you extra credit and you're allowed weeks to complete. No textbook. This class was online.
Please proceed with caution. This man doesn't believe in graphing calculators, is not specific, and I have never seen his face, only his hands writing notes. And if thats not enough to drive you away, his accent is super thick and his handwriting is barely legible. The only thing that got me through this class was mathway and a whatsapp groupchat<3
PROS: Open book tests, EC from practice tests, homework is very helpful, syllabus test dates are highly organized CONS: Lectures may not cover all material and you may need to self teach, does not care about tech issues (even when it is not your fault), he's never turned his camera on so you might go the whole semester not even knowing his face
A really big con, especially for Calculus, is that you only have 75 minutes to complete the tests that have a minimum of 25-30 questions. It is open notes, however, this is not nearly adequate time for questions that require lots of tedious algebra work and proof checking.
he's ok. the homework and test arent crazy, they are like a normal math class. however he assumes you just understand what he's teaching. A lot of kids in my class had him for the math class before but I didn't and my teacher last semester also sucked so I didn't understand most material in this class. and its hard to get him to stop and go back
I love Prof. Castaneda! At first was a little hard as he expects you to know the basics like fractions, but after you get to know him he is an amazing teacher. He has an accent but he was very clear and easy to understand. His teaching method is to the point and he will teach the problem again if not understood. JUST ASK. Def would take him again
Attendance is not mandatory as long as you do the homework and tests. Clear grading criteria. He might go too fast during the lessons but mymathlab will show examples of how to do the hw. Tests are open note and offers a lot of extra credit. Responds to emails fast and he is willing to help
If you're the type of student who learns visually and auditory? This class isn't for you. I had to teach myself everything from this class, he does try to help, but he has zero patience as a teacher. I'm pretty sure my entire class passed only because of Mathway, or outside tutoring, because this teacher? really wasn't it.
Honestly this class is an easy pass if you're looking for a way to get over math courses quick. The text book isn't required but since I took the online class I had to purchase it for the access code to math lab. There is a lot of homework, tests and quizzes for every 2 weeks. He doesn't really care if you're there, he's just there to do his part
I had a great time as a student with Prof. Castaneda. He really cares about the work he does, and you can tell because it upsets him when kids don't study or try. I am not a math person but he teaches from the ground up in intermediate algebra starting with very basic stuff like adding and subtracting fractions, and it helped me so much. dope guy
This professor is not suited for my learning style. Lectures are ok but really difficult to understand him since he has an accent. Goes over the basics, and really does not explain it well. Test and quizzes are all on MAthlab. It is bad because you can not save the material to go over mistakes and learn. Provides no extra credit.
Avoid him at all costs. His accent is very difficult to understand. His audio cuts off continuously making his lectures difficult to understand. He has a terrible teaching style that is very confusing. Unless you are extremely proficient at math I do not recommend him at all.
Difficult to understand with during his lectures. Lots of chapters bunched into one test. Do not take him even if he is the last teacher open, you will regret it
Do not take him, I had him for college algebra and it was the worst, so far we are two months into the semester and I hate, Everything is on Mymatlab, very homework heavy, homework are 15-20 questions and they are worth 4/5 points. In a chapter there is like 5-6 homework, and a quiz (two attempts) . You have one hour to do test and quiz 30 questio
This is my second semester taking an online class with Professor Casteneda. If you are not a math person, I suggest printing the worksheets and previewing the videos prior to class so you are prepared. His tests are a little rough...you only get 2-3 minutes per problem, so if you tend to panic during tests, this is not the teacher for you.
Tests are heavy. Not enought time 2-3 min per questions which involve a lot of work to get the final answer. Goes over the material too fast. Not accesible outside class. Doesnt respond email on time. There is no extra credit. The material on the text is not similar to what he teach in the classroom.
Best advice I can give you if your in this class try out desmos, mathway, and Photomath .I was good at every math class before this and barely clutched with a B for this class
I got a A in his class only because I went to tutoring and I asked my old math teacher for help. Do not take him. Quiz for every chapter, Quizzes 15-20 questions. Tests 15-25 questions or more. I had him for zoom and not good, he went to fast. Do NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU ARE NOT GOOD AT MATH.
dont take if u arent good at math! the only reason I got an a was because of mathway and me already being good at math. his zooms are so fast paced, & he doesnt explain deep about the info. quizzes & tests were hard, and the hw didnt always help. he also uses lockdown browser ( no camera), however u cant go to a dif site. not an easy class at all!
Powerpoints for lessons. Lockdown browser is required for tests. Tests are 20MCQs each, final was 25MCQs and easy. Quizzes can be taken unlimited times, tests took about 10mins each. Def good for ppl who catch onto math quickly. Took as a dual enroll and am good at math so may be biased. modules/units give you 2 weeks to complete.
I cannot say this loud enough...if you have no notion of math or aren't good at it, stay away from this professor. Not only is there an insane amount of homework, tests, and quizzes per week, he isn't lenient even if you have an excusable absence. He's not clear in answering student questions and doesn't engage much with the class in lectures.
Gilberto's material was very difficult to navigate through. The concepts we had to learn would be on a separate page and then the actual material (homework) would use another program (Pearson). The materials were scattered and your entire grade was dependent on tests. No room for struggle in this class.
His teaching is awful and way too fast. Too much homework and quizzes assgined in one day. No calculators in his class. His comments like " its common sense guys" or its too easy" like um your a math teacher. Never interacts w his students. Impatient teacher that he takes everything to heart, he will turn it into a lecture. Stay away from him!!!
Too much homework, lectures are fast and hard to understand. Can't miss a single class or you're gonna fail. He is very rude and says "this is common sense""its easy" while students are clearly struggling. Does not care to interact with his students.
I basically taught myself for the entire semester. If you are taking online classes, I DON'T recommend him. The only learning material I had was a poorly worded and hard to understand textbook. I don't know why I paid for a class when I could have just bought the book and gotten the exact same thing. If you take his class, you'll need a tutor.
really bad for a math class do not take this online class he just throws the book at you no videos at all and very complicated and wants u to learn on your own
Complains about how slow our understanding to the topic is even though in my opinion, his teaching methods aren't really the best if you're not too good in math. If we use the restroom throughout the week, he gets a little frustrated. He would call us stupid on the low. He just gets frustrated very very easily!
I do not recommend this professor for online classes Im on top of my assignment, missed a quiz and test and everything dropped by two letter grades. For online he has test grades at 50% test reviews dont count either lol. He doesn't believe in allowing you have retake assignments. Please do your math class on time because his classes are empty
Mr. Castaneda is a good professor. I've learned a lot in his class. Just pay attention and do your work. If you miss class or need help with the homework, you can go to his office and he'll help you. If you do the work, you'll see the results. Thank you Mr. Castaneda for a great semester!
awful
I think a lot of people weren't prepared for the amount of work in this class, but it's typical with most math classes normal for an online course. He's easy to reach, drops lowest test grade, allows you to work at your own pace, but you do need to be making sure you are staying on top of your work and actually learning the material.
I do not recommended this professor. On top of purchasing the access code, he wants you to purchase a
I knew the content somehow, and that's why I could pass, though my main problem was with his MyMathLab. The delivery accent may also affect understanding. But he is not that challenging in grading; it depends on your capacity to take.
In this class, we are penalized for requirements that are not clearly communicated in the syllabus, which makes it difficult to meet expectations and progress effectively. I dropped from the class due to him giving everyone a zero because we didn't have an external webcam that wasn't clearly stated.
You will basically be teaching yourself if you choose to take this course online.
Professor Castaneda's class is no walk in the park. The material is dense and the workload is heavy, but with dedicated effort and helpful resources like unstuckstudy, it can be manageable. Stay on top of the readings and practice problems - this class rewards consistent engagement.
If your not strong in math I don't recommend
He locks every assignment after due date and locks the reviews as well giving no way to study, or catch up if anything's missed. Don't have a life emergency either because he won't care you get no second chance
He was worst math professor I have ever had. He rushed 2 lessons in one day and expects you to understand it 3 days before the test. Most of the students withdrew his class because of how hard he made studying and being ready for test be. If math is not your strongest point AVOID HIM AT ALL COST !!!!
I recommend prof Castaneda; He explains his class very well. You have to pay attention and participate. He always answers questions in every session. My suggestion is to do your assignments on time and preferably before the next class, so that you can ask questions related to the assignment, and the professor will help you in class.
This was live online, can't complain, you put in the effort you want for the grade you want. Standard pre-calculus class. He does reply to Canvas messages quickly, so that was nice.
WARNING! He does not reply to emails, he is test heavy, and homework heavy. So much homework but it barely counts towards your final grade, and your tests are worth literally half your grade. All practice tests are lockdown browser with webcam so you cant even go over it with a tutor or family member without being flagged and he is not responsive.
Don't recommend. He is not responsive, his tests are 50% of your grade and you barely have time to take it as each question is usually 3 parts in 1 for 40 questions. Homework is heavy and only worth 10% of your grade.
Stay away from him if you want to pass college algebra
This professor requires an external camera so be aware and make sure you use it and have it set properly or else he WILL fail you. You also do not get enough time to on the test, he makes us solve 3 problems in one question. Just be aware of what you're signing up for. I withdrew before it resulted in lowering my GPA, which is amazing right now.
if math is not your favorite, I don't recommend it. Heavy on the accent. he expects you to know most of the information for college algebra. I could not understand anything that he teaches, I had to go on YouTube all the time to understand.
Don't recommend he teaches like a high school math teacher.
Honestly, if I could swear in these, I would. This man frustrated me to the very end. When asked for help, he would sigh and look at me with a disapproving expression, then he would go around the class and do the same. Please don't take him; he's not worth your time. Look for a genuine professor who genuinely cares and actually teaches. STAY AWAY.
I put hilarious because how much this teacher is such a joke. PBSC need to hire real teachers and not clowns
In all my 19 years of living have I ever seen a professor as terrible as this one. He is inconsiderate, disrespectful, and impossible to communicate with. He will give you zeroes and not elaborate on why he gave you a zero until the due date comes. He will never email you back if you email him 100 times. He is the Mr Crocker of professors.
