Funniest prof I've ever had in my 5 years at OU. Made every class fun. Class was in French.

He knows what he's talking about, helps you if you don't understand or need help on your work. Never a dull moment in the class, relates the subject to personal experiences to makes us realize and understand the subject.

He's the best teacher I've ever had in my 4 years. He's so brilliant... God knows I miss classes quite often... but never in a million years I would of miss one of his because of the interesting he is. (I took the class in french)

One of the best profs at SoM. Very smart man that knows how to teach and get students involved. He teaches much more than just law in this class...

Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, loves to pick on students, has good personal stories (some of which are clearly made up to allow him to further a point). I don't believe he reads papers/reports from beginning to end, and he shows strong signs of favouritism. But he prepares you VERY well for exams! You should do well, just go to class.

This guy is great. I took two of his classes. He's fair and a nice guy. He knows his stuff and if you have any questions he's always willing to help (but you have to get inline b/c there are too many people trying to ask him for advice). Take as many classes as you can with him.

Always enjoyed his classes. Sure, he would get a little off topic with his stories from time to time, but he is walking library. Incredible breadth of knowledge on a number of subjects, and teaches the course in a way that makes you want to attend and learn. Funny guy, great communicator. The only complaint would be his marking style.

Probably one of the most interesting profs I've ever had. For those of you who claim he doesn't correct/let you see your exams, if you take the time to make an appointment with him he's more than helpful.

Very engaging, able to keep my attention at 8:30 in the morning!!! Calls everyone madam and sir which is very refreshing! Makes you smile, calls on you and makes you keep yourself on your toes and always thinking as you could be the next called on! Very fair grading and helpful. One of the best prof at Ottawa u, highly recommended. A brilliant prof that keeps you engaged in class at all time. Pay attention to what he says as he may catch you off guard at time but in a humorous way.

I read all the comments, no one mentioned that this man was knighted in 2003. He has 13+ professional designations and teaches at something like 5 universities while owning some "Kernal's" franchises and operating as a crown attorney and the chair of the canadian bar association. People debating whether papers are marked, what time does he have?

Awesome speaker! One of the few classes where I could actually concentrate on the lecture.

Entertaining. Enjoyed him but checked him out regarding all those designations and he won't even show up as a member in 75% of them, strange. I honestly think he makes up stories like they're his to support an idea. Yeah he definitely Hollywood's it. To clarify got knighted as defender of French language. Course easy to pass and he loves the USA.

Wonderful Prof. I highly recommend this Prof over anyone. He not only makes the class class interesting but with relating the key concepts to the everyday life, he makes the concept easier to understand. To get an A, just go to all the classes. Exams and midterms are all lecture notes. Fantastic human being, outside class! Very helpful.

This guys is a blast and really funny. Although, it is hard to submit a paper when your not sure if he's going to read it and its 47 pages long.

Professor Lavasseur is the best professor out there! he actually teaches material that is relevant to the actual world by applying real life examples. Other professors should learn from him, the world is not about texbook theories and concepts. Students should be able to use all the knowledge they are paying for and apply it to actual situations.

Easy teacher if you do the following: go to all classes, ask a question out of class, and write a lot on his paper, midterm, and final. Do not leave any test early, and try to make it to a second booklet. Study the lists and just ramble on during the rest.

Probably one of the best classes I have taken in Telfer. Incredibly interesting and friendly individual, but he definately does not mark the tests and report. Midterm and final are fairly easy but write alot! Try to stay for the whole 3 hours and write as much as you possibly can.

His lectures are definitely NOT boring. But the way he comes up with grades makes absolutely no sense. Gives grades based on how much you wrote and not what you wrote.

Guide to an A in Gilles class: 1) Participate in class and listen to his stories 2) On exam, WRITE UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE TIME (he takes note of students who leave early) 3) On Project, have a good Intro because he won't read the rest 4) Make links to his stories in examproject I had 85 on the midterm, didn't have time to answer a 30% question.

Amazing prof, amazing guy. One that actually teaches the class real information & cares what students think. Every time I asked him a question after class he always asked whether I was enjoying myself. Pay attention in class and take good notes - he talks about news so go to class educated. If you interact with Gilles, he will love you. Raise your hand AT LEAST once per lecture, if not more. Lectures were never dull, which is good because you literally cannot pass if you do not attend. You'll need his stories and examples for the midtermfinal. He can be confusing at times, just ask for clarification he wont mind. Great prof overall.

Very Knowledgable professor! funny and tests are general stuff that he teaches.

I've never had a prof that can make 3 hour lectures not feel like death but Gilles actually pulls it off. His class is different from the norm. If you like memorizing terms and topics from a textbook then you may not like him. Everything on the midterm and final are straight from the class, and the paper isn't bad if you start early.

Gilles is the best professor I have had in my career thus far. Long lectures fly by and his evaluations are easy enough. Go to class and write down every example he uses. Don't be scared by the term paper it is pretty easy if you give yourself about 2-3 weeks at roughly 1-2hours every other day. Highly recommend.

Do not miss the lectures because every question on the exams need in class examples. The textbook people say are not needed, but it is mandatory for the 50+ page report. Yes there is a very long report. The exams are what we learned in class.

Gilles is an amazing prof. I would hire him as my lawyer lol. You have to attend every lecture because he used them for his exams.

Great prof. I had him for business law. He found a way to relate the law to very interesting stories. Class attendance is really how you get the best out of the class. Easy Midterm, easy final, and a good interesting project. Great class.

Levasseur might be hands down the most interesting prof I've ever had. Don't be intimidated by the term paper, it might seem long but if you give it the time it deserves it's a piece of cake. He is a really fair grader and wants everyone to succeed. Make sure to take note of EVERY example he gives in class because they WILL be on the exam.

Great prof! If you attend every lecture and participate you'll get an A. He seems to grade based on attendance and length of midterms/assignments, so write a long and windy story if you have to in order to fill up your booklets. Not great at conveying subject matter, but write down EVERYTHING he says, you'll need it for midterm and final exams.

Professor Gilles LeVasseur is a truly inspiring individual. He loves teaching his classes and provides real life examples to everything he teaches. As long as you attend his classes, participate in the lectures, take notes from what he says and give yourself enough time on the paper, you'll get an A. One of the nicest and more inspirational profs.

A well respected and hilarious prof. He will start lectures with little to no warning, so get ready to take notes!

Ended up being my fav prof at uOttawa. So entertaining and it's nice to not have your typical ppt lecture. His grading is fair and he is very helpful outside of class. Make sure to listen in class as he's all about the in-class examples on midterm and final! The paper is long but not hard to do if you give yourself enough time.

First time 3-hour lectures aren't boring. His class is always interesting and gives you different perspectives. Write down ALL he mentions in class. A tip is to go through and make links with the textbook content. The finals will still catch you off-guard, but that's what happened in all ADM1301 classes regardless of which prof you take.

Professor LeVasseur is definitely unique. His lectures are fairly captivating, but take notes of EVERYTHING that he says. In his lectures, he will cover purely examples, and will expect you to link it to the material. Basically, if you take good notes in class, and then read the chapter of the textbook and make the links, you'll be fine.

The only Professor in my entire first year of university that did not read from ppt slides the entire lecture (that I could have studied myself on youtube), but holds inspiring lectures where he engages with the students who actually care about their education and future careers. If you want to be above the status quo, I highly recommend him.

Great course but you need to attend to get a good grade. No surprises but you need to be ready to take quality notes because the exams are on the teaching in the course.

Too often, students are waiting at the last moment and expect to find all the answers in the syllabus - wrong approach.

Excellent course with great discussions. Difficult because long term paper but extremely practical. I am know able to apply to serve on a Board of Directors following the assignment and not just do a theoretical paper. I was able to ask the questions to the professor and get feedback after the lectures - several times.

Loved the class because we learn about life and not just theory. You need to participate and be engaged otherwise the class will be boring to you. Would take another course with him because he does not fail students.

I was afraid of taking this course with him because of the negative comments but I have nothing negative to say about him. He told us we should write a 20-ish document about a law topic of our choice and was available to help and guide students. You have to write down everything he says in class and study it + the book. He's a good human being.

Thank you for the course and the teaching approach. You don't read slides but explain them with great current examples. This allowed me to develop my critical thinking and see law differently then only from a textbook. The term paper is very demanding but I can do this type of paper in the working world. For a class of over 400 students online, we had great discussions in class. The slides covered the content of the exam and there was no surprises. You need to attend the lectures and take notes. I did learn great things in the course and would recommend the prof.

I was able to get accommodations for the course and the professor was available to guide me through the process. We had extra time with the professor twice a week and this was very important because I needed that teaching support. This was the only course where I was able to get consistent feedback from a professor and excellent lectures.

If you attend class and ask questions, you will achieve a good mark in his class. He truly takes his time to explain what he wants from you to reach a good mark. You will need to read the book for the final exam since he teaches more via examples rather than just definitions but I found his lectures super interesting. Best Prof!

the international business competition was a great pleasure to do - the professor was present to guide us and we did finish with a feeling of learning about presentation with colleagues on a complex subject matter. The prof was present through the process to guide us - well done.

The prof organize every Fridays a session for students to get feedback but also ask questions about the assignments. Very few did attend the sessions. Every week, the prof posted topics and documents for discussions during the lectures. Very few students would open their camera and discuss the issues related to the topics of the course.

I am a fourth year student and I greatly appreciated the discussions and the weekly topics of business. After four years, the professor was able to get us involved in debates about the lectures and the current business affairs. That was great this term.

I enjoyed the lectures and the learning tools used for the discussions. The term papers are heavy in content but if you start early in the term, everything gets done. The large class was a challenge for debates and discussions but the prof was always sharing recent stories.

The assignment was very demanding and required a lot of research but it was very instructive. The class discussions are very important and the content at the exam is directly linked to the elements posted on the board by the professor.

This was my last term and the Multinational Business Policies course was the best course I took. We learned the current affairs and had discussions every lectures. The students did ask for a group photo of all the students and prof. What a great way to finish my university experience.

I am a 4th year student in engeeniring and I command the teaching of the professor. All the details of the assignments are well described in the course outline and with specifc dates and gride of evaluation. You need to attend the lectures to get the details of the content of the course and not just read the slides to prepare for final exam.

I would like to support my friend in her statements. I am a four year Social Science student and you will not find another prof that will organize a lab and attend for you every week - Yes you need to open the camera - that is expected - when you want to speak. Don't ask questions that are in the course outline.

I am extremely happy to have taken the business law course with the prof. He prepares us for all the assignments and makes himself available after the classes. I am happy to have completed the law course since this is a requirement for the CPA designation. The prof made the content clear knowing that we have a lot of readings and writting. I did get a pratical experience of the law situation in business.

Lecture is fun and full of surprising information, but don't expect to learn much from it. Lecture is for the fun, but self-reading is what get you prepared for the tests.

For a class of over 300 students and online, the prof did a great job in keeping us interested in the content of the course. He made sure he was avaiable to answer any questions during the labs and that is fantastic especially when you have some many students in a course.
