She is really nice and trys to help. She just goes a little fast for most people.
mrs john is a good teacher but her tests are long you don't have time to revise or think on one question for longer than 5 minutes or you won't be able to finish the test. in lecture she just gives the important stuff you have to really depend on yourself. for math take matthei he is the best.
Packs you with work.She gives a quiz about every Friday.She's not very clear with explanations and is kind of rude.You basically have to teach yourself the lesson. Would not recommend.
SHE IS VERY MEAN AND RUDE, NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. i recommend not to take her. she does little and expect everything from you. Her tests are very hard.

Can barely understand her (she's a boater). Quiz every week. Homework must be turned in and she grades everything from neatness to correctness. Tests are timed according to how long she took to take her own test. Tests are extremly hard!!! She shows no mercy. She wants everyone to fail.
this is the worst class and she is the worst teacher. im a 4.0 student and even with hours of studying for this class i am near failing. She claims to encourage us to ask questions but is completely rude when anyone does. i would only recomend this teacher to an enemy. She should not be a teacher!!
I'm a 4.0 student and this is the first time I have difficulty in a class because the teacher is extremely TERRIBLE. She doesn't know how to teach and is rude when someone asks a question. WARNING: Do not take a class with her!!!

Holy****. TERRIBLE teacher. She is very rude. Expects you to know everything. Don't ask a question unless you want her to yell and freak out. She is very difficult to understand. I wonder how long shes been speakin english. Tests are super long and very difficult. I think she tries to fail students. DON'T TAKE HER.
She is a very bad teacher. She can not speak english very well. And she is very ****. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF HER CLASSES!
She's the hardest teacher ever. She so rude and mean, she has a cocky attitude. She sucks at teaching she make you teach yourself she dosent teach. If you want to fail the class take her, if you dont than dont take her.

Everything I want to say has been said here already. Grading system sucks, one hour in her class feels like three hours and the only way I paid attention was thinking about how difficult her tests were going to be. She doesn't cut you any slack, even for actually trying. I do not recommend this teacher to anyone.
I am warning all of you who are not so gifted in math. Overall she knew her math however she has an extremely hard grading system. She will mark you down for everything so unless you are sure you know your math do not take it with her!!

I think this professor is poorly judged. she is very helpful, and her grading system is extreemly fair! (partial credit for trying the problem, but getting the wrong answer.) she expects you to do your homework, attend class, and payattention. She is helpful, just serious in her class.
Yes, she is very strict and yes she is extremely hard to understand. I was well prepared for my next class though... but any teacher can do that without being as rude as she is. If you ask a question, she is extremely condescending. I highly recommend taking a different teacher.
she knows a lot about statistics but is aweful at teaching it. i wouldn't reccommend her at all. she doesnt really incourage asking questions, and she's got an aweful jamican accent or something. all of tests, weekly quizzes, and homework gets far too overwhelming if you're taking other classes.

very hard 2 understand b/c she skips steps in math prblms n expects u 2 no wat she did She only gives u a few examples in class n expects u 2do hw online DAILY. this means if u dont no how 2do it, u submit wrong answer 4 no partial credit! bought expensive book 4 nothing. going 2 class is pointless b/c u cant learn anything from the way she teaches
Yeah she has an accent, but people exaggerate how bad it is. She has online homework, which is normal for ANY math class. The good thing about doing it online is that you get 3 tries :) Weekly quizzes, but they hardly count, and she drops some. She's pretty cranky, but if you're comfortable with math, you'll be absolutely fine.
THIS IS WAT IT IS: if ur not good in math, don’t take this class b/c YOU will most likely not pass. Waste of whole semester (time) and money. She doesn’t care about student grades. In fact, our class started with 22 students, and now there are only 10. SHOWS U how much she cares!! PLZZZZZZZ DONT take her....u will regret it. believe me.
Ms John was so good in teaching the material. You need to study to get "A" in any class. So, you need to attened the class everyday to understand the materials and to be in a good shape. Ms John has accent in her conversation, but you will be fine because she likes you to ask questions.

Whoever is tough on u is ur friend. Miss John comes across as been tough but you learn a lot from her. She is smart teaches u and imprints it in your mind. there is no easier route with her because she wants u to learn. You will know her worth when you move on to higher classes. Give her a break she is good at what she does. SO STUDY hard.

IN MY MATH 110 INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA SHE WON'T EVEN LET US USE CALCULATORS UNLESS SHE SAYS WE CAN....RIDUCULOUS. DON'T TAKE HER...I HAD TO DROP.
She expects you to already know everything coming into the class. She knows what she is talking about, but doesn't teach it very well. She moves extremely fast, because she just expects you to know it, so it becomes very overwhelming. I do not recomend taking her. her accent really doesn't bother me much for the record.

Absolutely the worst "teacher" to head a classroom. She encourages questions only to hammer the one who asked it. She is unprofessional, needs to comb here hair once in a while and at least pretend to be interested in getting through to the students. She sets up all students to fail and is on of the reasons I left HFCC to attend UofM-Dearborn.

I hate her! I failed her class. I wish I would have dropped. I took it during the spring semester. She doesn't let us use calculators! She has no respect for her students at all. She never answers your question. There are quizzes everyday & they are impossible to pass. So are her tests. She has no idea what she's doing. She's hard to understand.

Probably one of the WORST math teachers i have ever had! She looked at you as though you were stupid if you didnt know the answer to one of her questions. Professor john is a good teacher. Well maybe it's a little easier for me coz i took the material before, but she is nice and she isn't as i saw before i took the class with her. I might have a B+ in her class hopefully, but i could have gotten the A if it wasn't for my Laziness. I say not bad.
Ms. John was a pretty good teacher. The course required you to do work & not be lazy. There's a lot of online homework, if you dont do those, you're bound to fail. She gave study guides for tests and always eager to help her students. Replies to emails quickly. Best math teacher I've ever had. She's very knowledgeable. Strongly recommend her.
This teacher is TERRIBLE. she is very hesitant to help you and with her accent it is really hard to understand her. The work she is showing and teaching you has nothing to do with the work on her homework and exams. NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER wait for another semester if you have to that is how terrible of a teacher she is.

John is consistently encouraging of questions and definitely interested in calculus. Our class started with 15 and ended with 6, but the people who dropped the class either didn't attend class regularly or didn't really understand Algebra. Her biggest drawback is her accent, but I've heard much worse. Consistently available for help as well.
Her Calculus class is absolutely ridiculous. Her main focus is that you do everything HER WAY, which can be even more difficult then your own. She never allows her students to use calculators which creates wasted time. Don't take this coarse with her. JUST DON"T DO IT!
Professor John will make you work hard and learn the material in a way that will most effectively improve your math skills. She requires how intricate details on quizes and test. She is an amazing teacher and will hep you become a better student. this class is for people who are eager to learn and like a challenge and want to improve their skills

mrs john is a good teacher. she explains in a good way but she did not solve a lot of exercises in class. so you have to work hard at home. you have to be good in algebra because she did not allow you to use the calculator during the exams. i passed the class with a grade of "A". it was an easy class for me.
she is a very strict teacher hard grader and very obsessed when it comes to attendance .. but if you are a hard worker she is gonna love you and help you a lot .. for me i find math so easy and i got A+ and i wont mind taking another class with her " if i had to " .. but most of my classmates dropped out of the class after trying so hard !
Ms. John is HORRIBLE she sucks at explaining things. She's super nit picky when it comes to grading quizzes and exams. And everything on the quizzes and exams are nothing we went over in class or did in MML. She doesn't explain when she does the work on the board she just does the problem and we all copy. Quizzes are daily. And NO CALCULATORS
Terrible Instructor!
Great teacher! Overall, she knows the material and does a good job teaching it. Her way of teaching helps discipline the mind (not allowing students to use calculators) and polish your math skills. I recommend her only to those who are willing to learn and not be lazy.

Man shes THE toughest grader I've ever had in my life, she's very very very strict on test grading. No multiple choice tests, no use of calculator on most of the test, very challenging class!

You have to put all your answers in sentence form or you will get point taking off she makes you you do mml hw and you have tp show all work on it you have to take notes and she grades the notes you have to test corrections she collects binders only explains once quiz every week. Takes pride in encouraging questions, but you still won't understand. Nice when she wants to be. Please try to avoid this class with this instructor. She does the most I'm currently in the class now, and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I just pray that I pass, but I have faith I well. DON'T TAKE. RUDE. YOU'LL HAVE BAD THOUGHTS ABOUT HER.
Took her for Math 110 and always had an A in math, came out of her class with a low C. She is very rude and does not care for her students, she is willing to meet you during office hours but does give an better of an explanation. Avoid if you can!
I don't know why the bad reviews. I probably find her class easy since I'm a 4.0 student. I don't know. she's really nice , and helped me tons of times cause I used to skip class alot , even though I did, till now I have a 95.2% overall, she pressures students so they can understand the hardships , her tests aren't hard at all. As a student that was always good at math calc 1 is HARD I dont know if its because of this teacher or not but not being allowed to use calculators doesnt help. Shes a tough grader takes points off for small things. I failed my first test. But i managed to bring my grade up to a B. Im praying for an A with 2 tests left in the semester.
She just doesn't teach well. When she grades your tests, she marks down little things. It's annoying.
Ms. John were do I begin? She was one of the hardest instructors I've had at Hfcc. She's very picky if it's not the way she wants it it's wrong even though you're right you can't use calculators she also mess up a lot it's been plenty of times she had to correct her mistake on my test just don't take her
Hands down!!! Best professor ever I toom calc one with her and it was very easy She explains the subject really good, gives extra credits, makeup exams, but her exams are a little bit tough!! Highly recommend her!! I ended up with an A+

To be honest: Mrs. John is a challenging teacher, I am retaking her class for calc 1. But the students who have went on to take Calc 2 &3 said they were thankful for her class. She is not a bad teacher. She will do her job and teach its up to you as a student to put in the work and study and visit her. Grasp the concept, don't just find an answer.
She will try her best to help you but you won't understand her, nice teacher but material isn't very clear. She also goes too fast when explaining
Cannot understand her accent
If you have a question, she makes you feel dumb for asking. A lot of homework for only a few points toward your grade. She gives a quiz each wk, sometimes twice a wk.&those weigh your grade down! She teaches really fast, she starts teaching before you even finish the problem. Also, she's a very VERY picky grader.
She is a difficult teacher and wants work done her way, but that also helps you understand it better, she was always available when needed.
If You have the will to learn this is your class.
Lots of homework and she gives written exercises that you have to write how did you answer the questions on mymathlab , every week u r gonna have quiz but that helps to understand Shes helpful and available when needed Her tests are not bad study from your notes and quizzes. She tries so hard to teach .
Just finished the Introduction to Statistic with a grade A+... It took me a lot of time to learn how the lesson works in her classroom and finally i managed to maintain the A+ grade through the whole semester since my first test. She makes you understand the lesson and will help you ALWAYS in her office hours. Take it ONLY if you challenge yourself
Well I took in the class a B- without any big problem in statistic ( Math 141). Just listen to her while she explains and read a little in home that's all what i did.
She is really really hard and very annoying. she never helps students and her classes prep you for failure instead of success. do not recommend. if you want to fail just take her class.
She actually cares and makes sure you know the material before moving on. She does mark you down for small things even when you have gotten the correct answer. Some of the written assignments are based off of the online stuff but she wants you to write it out the way she wants it. HOWEVER this is all so that she makes sure you know the material.

Even if you're good at math do NOT take this professor. She cant teach. she always has to go the extra mile, she has so many assignments do in such minimum time. She very uncoordinated, she's always messing up due dates. Quizzes every week--quizzes relate to nothing from the online homework. Save your money and time and choose another professor!!!
I took this teacher for Statistics, majority of the class was struggling because her quizzes and tests were much more difficult than she taught. She even gave extra credit because we were doing bad, but it wasn't enough and she even graded that harshly. She will not round up any grades. I got a 79.9% and she refused to round up. She's the worst.
Her class is not an easy A, but she will definitely help you understand the material. However, there are 2-3 online assignments due every week, 5-6 written assignments, and 4 exams, which she does give students the chance to get some points back on. Go to her office hours, do all of the suggested exercises, and STUDY SEVERAL DAYS IN ADVANCED!
Not an easy class. The quizzes and assignments barely helped your overall grade. The exams are harder than what she teaches in class. She is willing to help during office hours but students shouldn't need to visit a professors office after each session. She writes and talks too fast. You have to be a math genius to get an A or B.
Ms. John is the worst teacher I have ever encountered here at hfc! She walks around as if she owns the place, even asking her questions is a pain. She teaches the EASY stuff in class and exam time comes and it's WAY harder than the practice problems, homework, and notes. She expects you to come into this class as a mathematician! straight up BAD!!!
I would not take her class. She seems like a nice person personally, but her teaching style is not compatible with a LOT of the students. She teaches the easy stuff in class, does shortcuts without explanations while solving a problem which causes me and others to ask questions. She grades the exams heavily and barely offers extra credit. BAD!
