Gillian does a great job of explaining things carefully. Unfortunately she doesn't always pick the best textbook. Otherwise, she's quite easy to learn from and do the course material. Sometimes though you can study hard and cover everything you need to know and still get a B on her midterms however.

best math teacher since H S ! She teaches university level material like it's grade 5, makes it very easy to understand and if you go to class do the 20 min of homework per class, then you'll get a B for sure! Very friendly and just a great teacher!

Very good prof. Yes, she speaks quietly, so arrive early to get a seat up front. She teaches straight from the textbook. She is very helpful and is fond of the ppl who come to get help from her. She is clear and takes a gentle approach to teaching stats. This is great for ppl who have math phobias, but can be boring for ppl who are good at math.

Best prof for this course! Makes everything seem so easy. Just do the problems from the text. Go see her with any questions. Sit up front...hard to hear her at times. She's super friendly and is very helpful if you ask for help.

I really like Gillian. The class is a lot of work, but she generally keeps things understandable. There is either an assignment, quiz, or test every week, so you have to keep on top of things. she is quiet, so sit at the front.attend class! she isnt very good an answering Qs clearly though, and sometimes unintentionally makes students feel stupid.

Best prof ever. For a difficult course, she makes it as easy for the students as she can. Yes the class is boring, but if you have to take it, take it with her. She repeats examples, explains things in different words than the book, and allows a cheat sheet for every test, quiz, and exam. If you get a bad grade, it's not because of her.

Great teacher for a statistics course! Easy to understand and will go over examples again and again. And just like a previous comment, she allows a cheat sheet for everything, attend class and you will get a decent mark!

Gillian is a great teacher. She is really kind and helpful. You are allowed to make up a cheat sheet for every test and quiz so if you do the work and come to class it's actually quite easy. Her notes are EXACTLY what you'll need to do homework and tests. Stats is boring. No one likes it. For a class like this she makes it interesting at least.

Gillians awesome, yes she goes quick but she gives detailed explanations and if you have a question she will answer it 5 different ways to make sure you are confident in your answer.

If you have the chance, TAKE CLASS WITH GILLIAN! She is the most helpful and clear professor I have ever had. She helped my get a very good mark in Statistics because her teaching is so comprehensive.

This class used to be Math 104. Gillian was incredibly helpful, and has finely developed a skill to explain difficult concepts in ways which make them relatively easy to understand. I have no idea where the negative comments come from. The two girls I sit beside are both taking the class for the 2nd time and find it MUCH easier this time

Attend every class. Cheat sheet allowed for all classes. I missed 1 month classes but Gillian was very helpful. Discuss with her after lectures your mistakes. She is sweet. Dont give up if u get bored in first few lectures. STAT is like that. It gets interesting by every lecture.

Most of the math is done on the computer, you just need to know how to use Minitab. The course builds on itself so get help right away if you need. Do you practice HW and you can get 100% on quizzes. The final is really hard since it requires problem and formula recognition. The final does trick students a bit. Cheatsheet for tests and quizzes.

I found Gillian to be a great prof. She explains the information in a straightforward manner and she will go in-depth to explain something to you if you dont understand. I would take a class with her again in the future. The tests and quizzes are fairly easy as well. Cheatsheets are allowed for them.

I am so glad I took this course with Gillian, she is helpful and goes over concepts that are difficult to grasp over and over again and is always willing to give a helping hand at all times. She teaches with examples that we can relate too. Highly recommend taking her class, especially if Stats isn't your strength!

Great prof! Tests and quizzes are the same material as she goes over in lecture and she lets you have a cheat sheet! If you show up and take good notes you're guaranteed a great mark.

I took two stats classes with Gillian. I really liked her - I thought her tests and marking were fair. She was also very good at stats, and was very approachable. I got B's with her, but I'm also a bio major, so that's something to consider. I think she's a solid pick for stats.

I had Gillian for STAT104 and at first I was terrified of the course but she really helped! She is very clear about what you need to know for quizzes and tests and makes the work understandable! While the final exam is scary, I felt very prepared after all her lectures :)

Took this class after not doing so good with the psychology statistics course. She gives good examples and explains herself fairly well. There is either a quiz or an assignment due every Friday and the final is worth 45%. There is online quizzes worth 5%. Allowed chest sheet for all quizzes and tests. Overall good teacher.

Gillian is an amazing prof, especially for Stats! The secret to her class is to re-do every example she gives in class and the questions on the homework before any quiz/test! She was so helpful outside of class time, and is very adamant on making sure you understand the concepts she is teaching. If you try hard, you will do great! She is awesome!

lots of work but it forces you to learn the material. very kind and replies to emails very fast. writing can be hard to read at times. cheat sheet allowed on test/quizzes and printed notes so you can follow along and not fall behind writing things down. one of the better professors at UFV

Very sweet and helpful. Everyone told me stat 104 was a really hard course, I do have to redo the course, but that is at my own fault of not doing my homework. If i had, I would have passed the course with a solid B. Everything is based off the quizzes/ assignments, so study them!

Stats 104 is hard period. Gillian is available to go over course work after classes. If you don't put the time in, get ready to take it again. By far one of the hardest classes i've taken, but taking it with Gillian was crucial to successfully getting through it. She wants you to succeed, but it is up you do just pay attention and do the homework.

She is great Prof. She will help you if you want to pass the course.

Shes a great professor who are always willing to help students. Her instruction is really clear and detailed. The exams are manageable. Shes a very nice and caring professor ever!

Gillian is very nice and helpful. She does give a lot of homework but it's mostly optional. Test every second week and assignments(only take an hour at the most and can be done in partners or groups of three) on the weeks without tests. Also allows cheat sheets for all tests and exams. Final exam worth 45% of grade so study hard. Overall good prof

Gillian truly cares about her students, and makes sure to deliver the material in a way that is user-friendly (esp. for those of us who aren't mathematically inclined!). Be sure that you have time to do the homework, and always revise the class notes. Gillian makes herself available for any extra help you need - I highly recommend taking her course

Gillian does a wonderful job teaching in a way that you can understand even if you're bad at math. There is A LOT of homework but the online stuff is not mandatory, although doing the homework is essential if you want to pass. Every second week there is either a test or an assignment due. Gillian is an excellent prof. She takes the class at such a slow pace to allow everyone to understand fully. She will happily explain things over again. Excellent choice, especially if you're not mathematically inclined, she makes it a smooth ride! Her marking does seem tough at first, she wants very specific things, but enforces good habits!

Gillian is an amazing prof, she was my first online math class and she made it so easy to learn. Her lectures are on Zoom, and she has very well put together notes, she examples in the notes are the same ones just different numbers on the quizzes and she responses to emails within the hour. Feedback is helpful and it is a clear class. Loved her!!

Gillian's stats class was very enjoyable. Her notes are clearly laid out and she explains them well in her lectures. Advice: Understand all of the key examples done in class and write them down before doing the quizzes and exams. The sapling portion of the course makes up a lot of your grade, so do well on it! Overall, Gillian is such a sweet lady!

This prof is amazing, she's great at simplifying concepts! Not super math heavy - the online Minitab tool does all calculations for you. The quizzes and exams follow the layout of class examples just with different values. There are a lot of homework assignments but if you attend all lectures (not recorded btw) they only take a few hours a week.

I took this class many years ago. The class was a really interesting, and Gillian was an engaging lecturer. The final exam was was both extremely long and difficult. Gillian let us write for an extra hour, but after 4 hours had passed, still no-one had finished. The exam got heavily curved, so things turned out all right.

Gillian is great, I found it so much easier taken online! Key to doing really good on the exams is to re-do class examples and make sure you summarize your notes very well. Good luck! I also didn't really read the textbook.

Gillian is a nice professor who is passionate and seems to enjoy teaching statistics. She is very accessible by office hours and email. I found some of them that her quizzes and test can be difficult and there is a lot of little mistakes you can.

Dr Mimmack is very interested in seeing students succeed. This course is structured to have you practice a lot which makes you successful. She's available after class for help. Stats was challenging for me, but she made the course enjoyable and her enthusiasm for her subject makes me want to take more stats classes. Highly recommend.

Gillian is an amazing professor. She really wants her students to succeed as she is ALWYAS available if you need the extra help. She explains the chapters thoroughly, and just dont miss class and you'll be fine for the quizzes and tests. It is the similar material from her notes. I really appreciate her as a teacher would definitely recommend her.

She's really nice! Although the lectures are kinda boring, she explains really well and willing to go over them again if asked to. She also cares about her students and reaches out outside class time. She does have a lot of homework but the tests and quizzes are similar to her homework. She also doesn't record her lectures.

I enjoyed Professor Mimmack's online STAT 104 class. There were three lectures a week, one hour each. The textbook is only used for examples and to supplement learning. She goes at a pace that made it easy to follow along, and I found her to be lax on grading. Very personable and kind. Would take again.

The best stats instructor at UFV. I struggled so much with this topic, but every time I reached out, Gillian was so helpful and patient. She was really committed to helping students succeed and was always checking in with me to see how I was doing with the course. Stats 106 is among the most difficult courses I've taken, but Gillian was fantastic!

As far as stats classes go, this was probably one of the best you could ask for. Gillian was always engaging and although the class content itself is often pretty boring (not her fault), she does her best to keep it as interesting as possible. There is a decent amount of homework but nothing too overwhelming. Lecture notes are available to reread.

GILLIAN IS BY FAR MY FAVOURITE PROFESSOR EVER! Her lectures can get boring but she teaches everything in depth and if you miss even one lecture you will be lost. If you do all the assignments (they are not hard) and show up to lecture you are set for success and all the tests and quizzes will be EASY DUBS. Will miss Gillian!

Very caring prof. Does try her best to explain, need to attend because nothing is posted later on. If you stay on top of things you will do great, but as soon as you fall behind it is hard to do good because she is very precise with how she would like her answers. Not so much math it's more "theory"

Gillian was awesome this semester. I really struggle with math and statistics in general, but she made everything super easy to understand (as much as she could to my brain anyways). I know that if I fail this class it is entirely my own fault and definitely not Gillian's. If I wind up having to retake, I will definitely be in her class again!

Sometimes lectures can get boring, but if you listen it's a pretty decent class and you shouldn't have too many issues.

She is really good at giving regular quizzes and homework assignments which are really helpful for staying on top the content and doing well on tests.

Confused by the bad reviews given recently. Yes there's lots of HW and you need to keep up with the lectures but that is to be expected! If you pay attention to what she looks for in the class examples, the tests and quizzes are very straight forward! Gillian is a great prof imo, and would recommend to those who need a stats course to graduate.

Lots of homework given out each week, so not much time to focus on other classes. Missing a class will leave you far behind, but as long as you show up and take notes in class you will be ok. She sends out the notes once each chapter is completed, and provides a lot of practice questions for exams.

Gillian relies on Minitab to introduce statistics. Alot of negative ratings which I believe is mostly 1st year students having a difficult time keeping up with content. Quizzes (5), Assignments (5), a midterm and Final exam are based off her printed notes she sends out. Allows cheat sheet too! Strongly recommend for anyone needing to graduate soon.

She loves to teach and never makes you feel stupid. Homework, yes, but necessary. Weekly quizzes, but they prepare you for the midterm and final. Cheat Sheet allowed for quizzes/tests. Very detailed noted with step by step instructions. Nothing like described in previous posts. English Speaking.

There's quite a bit of homework in this class but I felt I learned a lot in this introductory course. She's a caring professor though. Her lectures are always till the very end. Its easy to fall behind in this class so make sure to read notes and ask questions.

Stat 104 fall 2024, got A+. I'm 2nd year and honestly didn't mind her. A lot of online Achieve homework, but if you email her she'll extend the deadlines, I missed a few of them & still got A+. Theres 5 quizzes, she drops the lowest one, there's 6 assignments, 1 midterm, and final. 1 cheat sheet for each quiz and 2 cheat sheets for final clutched.

Ngl, I found her course really easy, especially bc of cheat sheets allowed for quizes, 1 midterm, & final. Extremely helpful if u directly copy & paste some examples answers from the notes which you can then just copy during quizzes/exams. Material in the beginning is a lot easier so I suggest aiming for 90-100% on midterm bc end material is rushed

Gillian is an incredibly kind person tasked with making a complicated subject interesting and accessible, which she did. She provides lots of notes, as well as use of a cheat sheet. She marks generously (almost too generously!) and is very easy to reach outside of email. She is accommodating of illness/personal issues with classwork and deadlines.
