I have a lot of fun in her class. She is a very good teacher.
This class is garbage. What a waste of time.
Dr. Naylor is nice on her own, but her class is difficult. She never really clarifies what you need to know for tests and examples she uses in class always show up on tests so you have to pay attention to every word.
Do not take her class. She is dingy and thinks she knows everything. Take a different teacher, you'll be glad you did.
What kind of teacher asks questions on her tests about silly conversations in class? If you can remember "The second word of the 4th sentance in Tuesday's lecture" then you will do well. Otherwise, skip it. You'll be glad you did.
I expected to learn alot about marketing. Instead I was bored to death by Naylor's facination with Costco, Banana Republic and Walmart. I didn't learn a thing except for what kind of toliet paper she prefers. TAKE A DIFFERENT PROFESSOR!
She's a so so teacher. not the best not the greatest. An easily forgetable professor. You're better off reading your book.
Tip: Study the powerpoint notes and you'll be fine. Class discussions are intersting. I liked her class.
I loved this class! She made class interesting by using real-life examples. Just skim the chapters and listen to her lectures and you'll be fine. Everything on the test is in the book, with a few questions from lecture examples. Highly recommended!!
Her intentions are good in the MIS Class, but too often it seems you can't grasp what she wants. She is awesome for ethics though and gives students the freedom to explain their ideas.
They're right.
I think this teacher was great. If you studied and did her assignments like she asked it was fairly easy. She is very nice and helpful and cares about her students.
She makes class topics fun. Everyone laughs in class and has a good time. You can always put your two cents in whenever you want. Test weren't bad. She knows exactly what she teaches about
she has a warm personality which you are able to feel comfortable in attending. SHE IS HOT!!!!....
This teacher is great. I highly reccomend her, the class was interesting and fun.If you pay attention on review day ( the day before the test) she will tell you what to study and what will be on the test.
Take the extra credit online quizzes! You can improve by half a letter grade over not taking them. They helped me get an A in both classes.
I like her. She's warm and knows her stuff. I could, however, do without the 7 chapter exams. The wording gets tricky and she puts synonyms in the multiple choice. Lots of extra credit opportunities.
Her class is somewhat entertaining, but not always. I noticed that the guys in the class were always bored out of their minds b/c she always talks about products for women. She's obbsessed with Costco and other miscellaneous things. She doesn't really grade fairly and her opinion is the only one that really matters. I really don't recommend her.
Naylor is a great teacher. Very helpful. Keeps class interesting most of the time. Which is hard to do at 8:30am. A sure fire way to get a good grade in her MKT455 class.. know how to fill in the GAP Model. That's the most important part on the test. Study the chapter a couple times before each test and know the gap model. you'll get atleast a B.
Great teacher. Pay attention to review day and you will know exactly what to study for the test. She is also really helpful.
Gave many opportunities for extra credit , overall I enjoyed this class.
Great instructor. Her lectures are good, she is easy to listen to, has a warm personality, and gives plenty of opportunity for extra credit. I got an A with no problem. I am a guy and I disagree that she talks too much about services for women, I thought her material was balanced and I never felt out of place. Take MKT 455 with Dr. Naylor!
Class is pretty easy but annoying. she has tons of inclass activities that are pointless but she offers a lot of extra credit. grades the project pretty hard and shes not real clear on what she wants. take it as an elective for an easy b or a depending on the amount of effort you put into it.
VERY INTERESTING LECTURES AND IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENTS, BUT NOT CLEAR ON WHAT SHE WANTS FROM US ON THE PROJECT. THERE ARE 3 EASY TESTS AND EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES.
This woman is dumb! I've taken her twice and her classes are structured the same... she is ignorant in the field of marketing, is very unhelpful, posts incorrect material on the syllabus and expects a lot when she teaches nothing. Avoid if possible, but you can pass the class if you take her.
Overall Dr. Naylor is a very good professor. The project expectations were vague, but she is more than accessible to answer any questions you may have. She is always happy and pleasant. There is a TON of extra credit available but it is a lot of work and reading to get it. KNOW THE GAP MODEL front and back. You'll pass easily if you do.
She knows a lot about Service Marketing and the lectures are interesting because she uses a lot of real-life examples. As long as you do the study crossword puzzles before the exams you will do great on the tests. Do the extra credit, it will bump up your grade a whole lot! She is a very nice and caring lady.
All the other comments are right but also, keep track of all your grades yourself as she tends to "lose" stuff. Good class material wise. You can learn something but there can also be a personality clash. Many other students think she is too stuck-up and it shows in her teaching discussions. While she seems laid back, grading on papers is rigid.
Stay away from this professor!! I took her MGT303. It was totally disaster! Although she seemed nice in the class... she was totally in-patient when you were looking for help after class! Her instruction for the essay was not clear, yet she was too arrogant to give any explanation!
Worse, don't take her. (period)
Take her during summer if you can so you remember all the examples she uses. What she says in class WILL be used on the exam. If you don't go and write down the examples she uses then you'll struggle. I wouldn't remember everything if there was a month between exams. Having her during the summer worked out well for me. The projects are okay.
Teacher can be moody at times, locks the door so late students don't walk in while she is lecturing. She hates that. I would use a recorder in case you can't write notes too quick. She uses a lot of examples from her lectures on the test.
This is an easy class, you get extra credit and she grades on a curve too! DO NOT! show up late for class, she hates that and she will call you out on it. Overall she's a cool teacher fun and very interesting class. Classy chick, lover her ;)
Lectures can be boring but you need to attend. DON'T BE LATE. As a marketing major I loved the projects but she is very unclear with what she wants. Exams are over nothing in particular, unfortunately. A little over lecture, a little over the book, but nothing substantial. Overall it isn't a bad class. Just play by her rules and you'll be fine.
Took her for the summer her class was pretty easy. Activities can be hard but if you go to her office she will guide you on the right way to handle them. Exams seem confusing but their usually really not. Study her slides and write down all the examples she says, she tends to use some for her exam.
This is the 3rd class i've taken with Naylor. Overall her classes are toward the easy side. Only 3-4 assignments/tests. Nothing too crazy. The only thing that is negative is that she is a very harsh grader and navigating her assignments/tests can be very confusing.
I enjoyed Dr. Naylor's Class a lot know the GAP model, go to class and dont be late she locks the door. Projects are fun but ask her how they should be formated and look like to get the best grade possible.
I don't like when professors give out MC tests for higher level classes, but that's just me. The class is extremely easy if you just go to classes and do her projects. If you go visit her for some random questions about the project you will definitely get a decent grade on the project simply because she sees that you are trying.
Be sure to pay attention to her examples, they will most likely be on the test. Also, the textbook isn't necessary. She picks out what she finds important from the book and put it on the slides. Be sure to be there for the guest speakers, they will be on the tests. As for the activities, be "creative" DON'T make them look like reports.
Took online summer class.I have all A's and received (one) B in her class. She was rude in her comments to my paper. Gave us only 2 weeks for the paper. No feedback at all on exams, just the grade. Lots of quizzes(16). No help. Stay away from her.
She is not very clear on her project. She expects you to do it her way without much direction. Meet with her and you will understand better what she is looking for. Tests are VERY confusing. I attended to every class, study hard and still did not get a good grade. Her test questions can be contradicting. I would not recommend her. No extra credits.
Dr. Naylor is incredibly knowledgable and professional. She is a great example of what a marketer should strive to be. She doesn't play favorites and gives fair grades. She is especially extraordinary outside of the classroom. I visited her office a few times for project help and general advice. She always had great feedback and a great attitude.
Dr. Naylor does not teach her online classes. She let's the book software do all the work and expects you to know how to write her essays when she gives you limited knowledge of what she's looking for. Pretends she's an english teacher and doesn't offer feedback. Don't take her if you're a marketing major and actually want to take something away.
In response to the comment below, yes she is a tough grader and very strict but it is a fairly simple and easy class. As for the Whole Foods paper, the goal was to write about their target market which makes perfect sense to write about before its opening, and she provided a detailed rubric. Go in and talk to her during office hours.
Dr. Naylor lets the online software do most of the teaching. If you read, study, and meet her on office hours for the paper you will be fine. She is a tough grader. Just don't be late or she will never forget it.
Dr. Naylor is a wonderful person, and very smart and knowledgeable when it comes to marketing and brands and all that, but her lectures can often be very difficult to follow according to what the book or the program says we should be studying. I stopped showing up for class did the homework online and still passed the class. Very confusing teacher
The class was ok. The lectures were interesting but a little hard to follow. Exams are kind of hard because it's a ton of definitions so you need to memorize. She made us do this simulation called New Shoes over the course of the semester which I ended up failing because I had no idea how to do it. I thought it was stupid and not helpful.
Her class was a lot of fun and very informative. She is very smart and you get a lot of the class, it is not unnecessarily difficult, as long as you show up to class and pay attention, you will do well. Grades are based off of 3 exams and 1 (solo) project. Would really want to take her again.
Definitely a very smart professor with a lot of experience in the Marketing field. Has valuable insight. Make sure you do every single New Shoes round or you won't get credit, and it's a huge part of the grade. Does not round or give extra credit. Attendance not mandatory but some test questions come from the lectures.
I personally do not resonate well with this professor. I have had her for multiple classes. She stutters a lot and is not clear during her lectures. Studying the lectures on your own is the only way to grasp on the concepts. The online simulation are not fun and I never learned anything from them.
Grading based off 3 exams (you take 4 exams, drops the worst grade) and a simulation. Classes felt useless but her tests were lecture heavy it was weird didn't like her teaching. Simulation was easy for me but I know a lot of people struggled with it. Make an excel spreadsheet to map everything out and make it easier for yourself.
Nice professor. Gives a lot opportunities to do well in this class. 3 exams with a 4th one being optional. Extra credit. Group simulation is redundant. Test are based on lectures (lectures are a mix of her personal opinions, current events, and book material), so you need to show up or know someone who takes great notes.
Naylor is a nice professor, but I disliked the simulation. It seemed like we were making good decisions (we read the case study) but we ended up with a not-so-good grade. Luckily, there was extra credit, which helped a lot. The tests were pretty easy, except the 2nd one which had some questions about things that weren't in the lecture.
The class was stupid and the simulation was pointless but I'm glad I took summer and didnt have to deal with Ms. Naylor for a full semester. I came from CSN where teachers would ACTUALLY teach, quiz, and test, even in an online course. All UNLV did was charge me for the 3 credits and for the online materials so the teacher could just do nothing.
She's rude and the simulation doesn't reflect the real world at all.
Class was okay but I do not feel prepared at all for the real marketing world. Even though it's an online class I'd expect someone like her to still teach and customize a lesson once in a while.
Dr. Naylor is a nice lady, but her policies absolutely frustrate me. She has 5pm due times, an incredibly strict tardy policy, and her carrot (participation) points are very disorganized. The material isnt hard though, as long as you do the online homework and study a couple hours before the test, youll be fine.
Professor Naylor is very nice and extremely knowledgable but her class is unorganized. If you don't show up to class you will get confused and miss out on points. 4 exams but you can drop your lowest score. So do well on the first 3 exams and you won't have to take the final. It is hard to know what to study but if you put in time you will do well.
Sadly Dr. Naylor just cannot seem to get it together. Every week she forgets to post lectures and is having tech trouble. On the day of the FINAL we had to delay 20 minutes because she didn't have them printed out. She's all over the place, take another prof if you can. Easy to pass, just study slides and do hw but the lectures are just painful.
The class was extremely disorganized, she did not communicate her assignment requirements well and she did not take responsibility for her faults (but will readily reduce your grade if you mess up). She did offer her help in the LAST TWO WEEKS OF THE SEMESTER and was reluctant to responding to our emails. The final was delayed by half an hour.
Although Pr. Naylor might be an expert in marketing, she probably should not be teaching it. Had a semester of frustration because class directions were not clearly defined and syllabus was constantly being edited. Used Cengage and Marketplace (pay for both), three midterms and optional comprehensive final (pay again). Passable but frustrating
Naylor seemed very disrespectful to some of my peers and I when it came to asking for guidance with assignments. Whenever either one of us would email her, she would respond in a rude manner and tell us to reread the syllabus. Upon rereading the syllabus, we were still stumped. Very unorganized and messed up on grades constantly. Had to tell her.
You have to pay to take your exams online and are required to have a computer with a web camera for ProctorU. Definitely a negative to pay $20 for your first exam, possibly even for the others! My computer does not have a webcam, so if you don't have a laptop, know a friend for sure. Other than that, easy class. Just a lot of expenses for no reason
This class was sooo much fun! Definitely recommend not a difficult class at all and the professor is amazing !
Do not take this class. You will regret it. Take any other professor.
Each section has 3 assignments and may have something else occasionally. There are 3 exams and an optional final. The final replaces the lowest score. There is a simulation as well. There is plenty of extra credit offered. This class is so easy that I wish she opened all the assignments up on the first day because I could have finished it in a week
She never gives you a straight answer to your questions and doesnt respond to important emails. Teaching style is vague. Assignment deadlines are due Thursdays at NOON rather than midnight, how does that make sense?
STAY FAR AWAY. Rudest teacher I have ever met at UNLV. Does not care about the students. She is always right and you cannot tell her differently. Really could care less about the students. The lectures, you don't learn crap, she just talks about the places she has been and things she's done and then tests you on it. RIDICULOUS teacher.
Not sure what is with all the negative reviews, if you participate you will easily pass, she curves almost every assignment and quiz.
This class is easy but her teaching frustrates me. Shes always switching things up, not a consistent class structure. TAKE NOTES when you rewatch her lectures. Weekly Quizzes are mainly from her PowerPoint(pay attention to her examples) and pulls questions from Test your knowledge prax quizzes from mindtap so write those down. allows note card.
Attendance, homework every week, quiz every week, marketplace simulation game worth 200 points. confusing powerpoint lectures. She is all over the place. Not the worst professor, but definitely not the greatest either. Class is easy though, her grading and requirments is the problem.
easy & she gives plenty of extra credit (show up to class). definitely double check your grades because she is prone to mistakes. Hw + quiz every week: she lets you use a notecard on quiz so just copy her slides & do some practice questions. Just put in the effort! Im sure shes just irritated to have to answer the same questions 40 times.
Not the hardest class and she's not the worst professor, but Id look into other professors if possible. Material was drowned out by what felt like white noise (boring anecdotes) in her lectures, & it ends up being something youll dread listening to weekly. If you practice through mindtap and can get through the lectures with ease, you'll be fine.
No exaggeration, she is the absolute worst professor I've ever had. You will be amazed by how a professor can be so neglectful and ignorant. The whole GroupMe chat is full of fed up students complaining about her and everyone is clueless. Stay away.
AWFUL prof. The actual material is so easy but the way she sets up the class makes it so difficult. Lectures and timed proctored quizzes only open on Friday mornings. Will harass you if you don't have your camera on. Prone to grading errors. Class is easy if you put your mind and soul into it. Class is easily passable but try to take another prof.
Straight up poverty tourist. A true granola villain of modern times. Shes the worst Professor Ive had in my entire life. A completely clueless and awful person
this teacher is very rude, she never answers emails, and when she does, she said i only read professional email, just because i didnt say professor in it, and she doesnt even respond to the email, she just tells me to write a professional email, horrible teacher, and she gives lots of work, she doesnt understand that we have lives.
don't miss class she will black list you and never answers your emails. she cares but doesn't care about you if you aren't participating.
She is the most unorganized professor ever. Her content is not difficult, however, she feels the need to make her exams overly specific and difficult. be prepared to write down everything that comes out of her mouth if you want a decent score on the exams
Gillian Naylor sucks. Her powerpoint are absolutely no help when studying for tests. Her tests are entirely made up of the random stories she tells in class. She gets off track 90% of the time and talks about things that absolutely do not matter. Take notes on everything she says cause even she doesn't know what her powerpoint mean.
Professor uses MindTap, it is tedious & some of the information in the software program differs from the lectures. Questions on the weekly quizzes were unclear & either long winded or worded funny. Bicycle shop simulation project uses another tedious program. Cares. Responds to emails. Would like to hear more concept clarification during class.
Worst prof I have ever taken in my life. She has weekly quizzes out of 45 points, 15 minutes for 15 questions, open only from 8:30 to 9 in the morning, and on webcam, EVERY WEEK. Not just that, she makes you pay for a stupid simulation that is worth an immersive chunk of your grade, 200 points! You will be hating your life, and ruining your Friday.
dont take her
Very uneccessary means of grading and teaching. 15 minute tests every week for 15 questions with no open book is pretty ridiculous
Not the worst, but avoid if possible. PROS -Nice -No Exams, just quizzes every week. -Extra Credit CONS -Assignments ARE NOT participation based. I'm forced to Google answers to save my points instead of learning. -Lectures are engaging but off topic.. Don't prepare me for the quizzes at all. -Constant tech issues -Quizzes don't reflect modules.
Stay far away from this instructor if you actually care about learning. College has been such a disappointing experience due to people like this. Lockdown browser every Friday at 7am sharp, camera and microphone included. Her quizzes are comprised of questions that aren't even from the textbook and she forces you to pay 20 dollars to play a game.
Not unreasonable for her to require students to take a proctored qui, students are aware that it is a live class when signing up, being required to do something during that time shouldn't be shocking. Attendance is EC. Quizzes are hard. She is difficult to reason with, but I can't believe people are shocked they have to be proctored for quizzes.
I was worried about this class based on previous reviews, but I promise you, this class is easy! The bike project matters, but she offers a lot of coaching. Some tests included chapters not covered, so reading a chapter ahead helps. She also offers a lot of extra credit, definitely take advantage of the EC!
It seems as if Naylor has definitely seen the feedback from her reviews, because she was a great professor for me! It's very clear that she cares about her students, and she is always on top of communicating with them. Her lectures are short and to the point, and only the major exams require Lockdown Browser.
Despite the bad ratings she isn't half bad. The only thing that bothered me throughout the course were the exams, and in the end of the class the bike simulation project. Exams are difficult if you don't study enough, she also likes to write her own examples. Bike simulation was unnecessary, time consuming, and a significant portion of your grade.
Take Professor Naylor's class, you wont regret it. She provides plenty of resources to help you succeed, you just have to use them! The material is easy, she provides PowerPoints to help you study, & there are weekly zoom meetings to help you succeed in marketplace. Once I started to understand how the bike simulation worked I had a lot of fun!
This class is easy if you put in the work. Just study and it's a breeze. The Bike simulation assignment is not hard at all and actually really interesting. She lays everything out so there isn't any confusion, and she is also there if you need help. Easy class! Even for a 5 week course.
Extremely unprofessional. Emailed her multiple times and was ignored most of the time. The only time she did respond, I asked a question and was told I should know that without an answer. Course was well structured but bike simulation worth a lot of final grade. Some of the lectures featured videos while she ate cereal in the background.
I'm not sure why the ratings were so low for this professor because I thought this class was pretty fun, it might have been my favorite class this semester because the homework was fun and engaging and not high-stress at all. Simple and easy to understand. At the end of the semester, it was annoying to have to buy access to a new website though.
Professor Naylor's class is a mixed bag. The weekly quizzes can be tough, but the bike project is an interesting challenge. Use unstuck ai and the textbook to stay on top of the material. Overall, it's a manageable class if you put in the work.
Put moderate effort = an A with Naylor. The online course is not set up to fail anyone, final grade is a huge reflection of how well one can read and follow instructions. 2 assignments/week, exam q's consist slide info, Pearson HW, and prequels, can use notecard. Prequels are unproctored, use AI at your advantage for bike simulation. TAKE W NAYLOR!
This class was very simple. Although there were many assignment each week, each one was very simple and easily digestible. The homework and quizzes are very beneficial in regards to the exams, and the final project is super easy and actually fun for a college assignment.
Not the best class but not the worst. The exams are difficult to prepare for, because you can be asked about anything from the textbook. The textbook must be in your memory to ace the exams. There is a simulation, that you must do good in, worth a big chunk of your grade. Difficult to understand, attend professor zoom meetings so she can help you!!
