Fall 09. The text book was a great foundation. It was easy to read/follow. Attending class is important because she shows a lot of video & engages in a lot of activity that will help you remember the info. Gillian's very active in posting things on blackboard & is easy to approach. She wants her students to be successful. Great intro to PSYC! -KD

She's always very nice and understanding if you need help or extensions. A little on the quiet side during lectures, but keeps you interested by switching between powerpoint, videos, and group activities. She makes this subject very easy.

Lectures and power points follow closely to the book. Ms. Patton is a very nice instructor and is willing to help her students with any questions or needed clarifications. Professor Patton encouraged class discussion to reinforce material in lecture. If you pay attention and participate in the class activities you will get an 'A'. Overall she is good teacher.

She was a little awkward at first but she very nice and considerate. I loved the "cheat sheet" for all exams including the final. Best yet, the final only consisted of the last two chapters read. If your looking for an easy A, this is a great Professor to take psychology with.

i would HIGHLY recommend taking her :) she is a very sweet lady and helpful. It is important to attend class and you do use the book but she is very informative with lectures and lets you used a page of notes on the tests. REALLY good teacher! take her!

She has by far been my favorite professor. She is a little awkward, but in a cute sort of way. She is the sweetest teacher I have ever met. Her class is very easy, all you have to do is do the questions at the end of each chapter (only 15 question) & she bases the test off of those. And she grades in a very easy way. I also learned a lot from her.

Zero effort to get an A,a notebook page size cheatsheet AND she tells you exactly what will be on the test. Take it if you want an easy A but be warned, her class is boring (I love psych), she will ask you to repeat her instructions to exhaustion(extremely annoying, we're in college not 3rd grade) Very nervous,I feel like I'm intimidating her.

Excellent instructor, very easy going. She always smiles and chuckles. She grades on a curve, and tests are taken directly from the textbook and lecture. All you have to do is a handful of assignments and do well on the tests and you'll get a good grade. I'm still trying to figure out how she knew each student by name

Gillian is very sweet and I loved her class. She is extremely approachable and is willing to help you. Sometimes she makes you feel like you are 5 years old because she is so friendly and sweet, but I don't see that as a problem. Her class is also very easy. No papers to write just pass the tests which are multiple choice and you're set.

Patton is a really sweet person though she does look like she's a bit afraid of the class 90% of the time. Much better than Lopez, though and would absolutely recommend! She reads off of powerpoints, allows you to use cheat sheets, and the book can be found in the library so you don't need to buy it. All tests are taken DIRECTLY from the book!

Professor Patton was an extremely fair and nice teacher. Exams are written based on the text, a handwritten cheat sheet is allowed. Outside class participation on psychology related topics are required if you expect an A. I think any claims of awkwardness is due to lack of class participation. I would definitely recommend Professor Patton.

EXTREMELY boring class and she is super weird and lectures make you want to fall asleep. But you are allowed a cheat sheet which is kind of a waste of time cause you never know what will be on the tests. You will pass just by trying because she has a weird curved grading system. I wouldnt take this class again.

She was a great professor! Took her for summer session and was worried the class would be hard. Not at all! Don't know why people are saying the cheat sheets didn't help. As for checking grades, just ask her after class... She's more than willing to help! Just use the book and attend class and ASK QUESTIONS. Pretty easy to get an A or a B.

Just finished her Psych 101 class and I loved it. Grading criterion was clear. Yes, she's a bit nervous and maybe a bit awkward, but I personally found it very admirable of her to get over her fear and speak in front of the class. Professor Patton is a very precise professor. The lessons were well planned and executed, all topics were discussed to the students inquisitive satisfaction. She helped students prepare for exams and challenged students to use acquired knowledge in other environments. Going back to school after 10 years, this is class and professor I recommend.

In this class you get the grade that you work for. Despite the fact that she looks nervous while teaching lecture she gets the information across well. She shows us video examples that are very relevant.

She was pretty nervous most of the time. Regardless of that, as a teacher, she was great. Her powerpoints were concise and very helpful. She gives you a piece of paper for a cheat sheet for every test. I thought that would be kinda easy, but it turns out when I write out the cheat sheet, I don't really need to look at it on the test. Psychology of Gender is an amazing subject and I am glad I was able to take it with Ms Patton. I recommend her as an instructor. The textbook is completely optional. You can find it online or just take notes from her concise power points which she posts in Blackboard. You would have to try to fail to actually fail this class.

She explains the subject clearly and makes lectures interesting. Often, she does True or False questions at the start of class. Her tests' questions come directly out of the book. Often, we have deep discussions. She doesn't grade harshly. We only had to do one group project. No hw. I love her for her cheerfulness and spirit.

Entertaining, keeps students interested by allowing students to give their insight on topic matters. Some students talked way too much though and you could tell she wanted to move on, but was too nice to say something. Her grading criteria is very easy. If you don't get an A, you need to fix your study habits.

Professor Patton is awesome! I'm so glad this class didn't have any exams since I have the worst test anxiety. She was always positive even though some of the things in class were bumming me out. I never knew gender identity could be somthing your born with until I learned about the Joan/Jon case in class. Take her!

We could choose our own topic as a group presentation as long as it related to gender. The grading system worked for me because I could check off everything that I did and know what grade I got.

Professor Gillian was so caring and everything is available on canvas and I could check the slides, handouts or my grade all the time. Canvas is so much better than Blackboard. One warning is don't look at the percentage grades. Its nice watching videos in class but some students have strong opinions during discussions. Which isn't her fault.

I found professor Patton to be a breath of fresh air. She was always positive, and had a kind word. If you are having a bad day she will make you smile. In a world so often filled with negativity, it was nice to know there would be 2 hours of positive thinking. She encourages participation even if there is disagreement as long as there is respect.

Prof. Patton is incredible and genuinely cares for her students. The enthusiasm for the subject truly helps the class stay interesting. She is very funny and promotes participation so speak up! To do well, get the textbook, take good notes on the chapters and do the quizzes at the end of each chapter!

I took this class because I know this is an Easy A. Chapter reviews are 500 words each and research paper is the same. Follow the prompt and you get full credit. 30% of Grade is based off attendance. So if you dont show up you will fail. Btw NO EXAMS

Professor is very knowledgeable on the topic of gender but encourages using journal resources for the research paper. I thought the research paper was going to be difficult, but it actually wasn't. Also learned a lot from the group project too. It was nice meeting my group outside of class.

A very understanding professor. Took the summer class and even at an accelerated pace, the course was relatively easy A. The lectures can be a bit dry sometimes but she posts all of the lectures ahead of time on Canvas so it's easier to follow along & participate. There were only 4 assignments during the full course with a 300 minimum word count.

I took her summer class and it was honestly the easiest class I've ever taken. Just take notes on what she specifically tells you to (because she DOES tell you) and that's what will be on a test. She's super nice and understanding as well. Take her for an easy and enjoyable Psych 101 experience.

Professor Gillian knows the material. I took her class as a fast passed setting, and she's great, you can have cheat sheets on the exams. My class was near a 3 hour class and every hour she gives you a ten minute break to go to the restroom or do whatever. By far best professor is school isn't really your thing. Her grading is really strange, BUT it is to benefit you. It's basically really hard to fail the class. In the fast-paced class, her lectures would have to be continued into the next class session because her lectures were so slow. Her lectures aren't good, but she lets you know what's on the test and allows a cheat sheet (front & back). Recommend!

This semester Professor Patton was the only professor whose lectures actually captured my attention. Shes amazing at what she does and does her best so that you pass for example she lets you use cheat sheets. She doesnt accept late work so you cant be lazy in this class. I strongly recommend her!

I took a hybrid psychology 101 class with Professor Patton, She was amazing by far one of the best professor I have had so far. She gives hints on the board of whats gonna be on the exam. Her outside participation options are very interesting. Professor Patton lectures are very insightful and worth going to class for. Workload is light.

She gives the choice of attending zoom calls but not mandatory. The homework is easy usually video questions or something along that line and doesnt give tons of it. There werent any long papers due which was also a win if you ask me.

Patton is a great professor if you can take her do not question it! She is very detailed and if you are confused she answers all your questions in a timely manner. Exams are critical thinking but she lets you use a cheat sheet. Reading is recommended to better understand concepts but she also provides videos.

Incredibly clear with her teaching. Curriculum, grading and even due dates are super clear. Provides an incredible amount of tutorials, walk throughs and resources for every single assignment. Professor Patton is great! She is always willing to help and provide feedback! I would defiantly take her again! Psych 124 did have a lot of assignments and 2 papers, but if you do the weekly modules you should get an A. The only thing I would say is the structure of each module was confusing at times.

Pro. Patton is fantastic & fun! If you are truly into Psych. take her class. The syllabus is easy to follow. You take chapter notes & turn those in wkly, instead of tests. After 4 chapters there is a small 10 question quiz. Mid-Term is a mini paper & Final is also a paper. She walks you through all of it. She's always there to help & accessible.

The class I took was 6 weeks long so that may have affected the difficulty.

She is a generous grader that focuses more on if you try and participate, than technicalities. As long as you show an understanding for the material, and show up, you will grade high in this class.

Research Method is a tough class to take as it deals with statistics and writing APA research papers but she make it reading and helps you through it. She is also very sweet, I loved having her as a Professor.

This is by far the best online class I've taken. I learned so much over the course of 6 weeks. Her assignments are beneficial outside of class and it encourages you to do some self-reflection. The assignments are very clear, just make sure you stay caught up with the class to avoid falling behind on tasks. She truly wants her students to succeed.

Such a genuine and nice person. She will always help you and make you feel like you matter. Her lectures are quite lengthily and of slower pace but you have the opportunity to work ahead

She was very understanding and caring, and the work was relatively easy but not too easy at the same time. Just utilize your resources, talk to this professor and she will be there for you and help you out.

The number one aspect of this class that helped me learn from my mistakes was her grading. Her responses were always so thoughtful and encouraging. It truly made me want to strive for a better grade. Normally, I wouldn't redo an assignment, but her explanations of what I did wrong made that difference. She is a great teacher, Professor Patton.

Professor Patton was a great instructor, she would always find a way to make the class interesting yet filled with lots of information. She always made herself available to all the students and made sure that we all understood the lesson and answered all the questions before and during assignments. I would love to have her as my professor again.

This class was a very interesting class and Prof Patton was very sweet. She always encourages discussion and you can tell she loves what she teaches. Not to mention that she is a pretty easy grader and gives positive feedback.

I was so worried for this class after reading reviews saying it was a difficult class no matter what professor you had. This class was SO much easier than I thought because of this professor. The pace of the semester is easy to get a hang of and I love that all of our papers were split in with each section due at a time so it wasn't overwhelming.

It was a breath of fresh air with her assignment reminders since I have a fulltime job and a full time athlete. I liked this online class's projects. I had a lot of fun working with my research paper group. The class was very intuitive. I'm on a busy travel schedule so having the flexibility of an online class is the only option.

Gillian Patton is a great professor for this course! There are times where the material seems a bit blurred, but her efforts to help and support her students outweigh that. She makes research methods easier to understand and makes it more of an enjoyable experience. I recommend taking her if you like group projects and a caring professor.

Definitely Recommend, So understanding and truely caring, she wants everyone to pass and be well. Her lectures arent too long and weekly quizzes are not long and allow retakes for a good grade. She is always checking in and make sure your all doing well.

Amazing professor, I would definitely take her class again. She's very sweet and friendly from beginning of the semester to the end. Lectures were online, videos were clear, and she reviews at the start of class. Textbook is online and free. Quizzes are posted end of week and she allows retakes before deadline.
