nice professor, will help if sees interest to learn, tells the test questions
Excellent teacher! he is a walking enciclopedia. His knowledge about the subject is unlimitted, therefore he delivers the material with passion. I love his way of teaching. the exams are specific no chance for mistakes. either you know it or you don't.
I am a history major and usually an A student. He left an enormous amount of guessing when it came to studying for the tests by not narrowing down the possible essay topics.He is very knowledgable but a tad boring.

This guy is an idiot and a jerk. He mumbles his lectures so while he may be very knowledgeable no one ever hears him. His tests are very hard and hes not specific at all. He has an accent and sometimes spells things the way he pronounces them. STAY AWAY
I struggled immensely in his class! This professor was very unclear. I found his exams to be rediculuosly difficult. I don't recommend him to anyone.
I found Visoni to be a very good professor. He knows a lot and his lectures are as interesting as history can possibly be. My biggest complaint about his class is his exams- they are impossible. He takes tons of points off on essays for no apparent reason
Visoni is a very knowledgable professor. He hands out vocab. words and essay questions for each test, but most information can't be found in the textbook,and some questions on the test are different from lectures.
Very difficult class, yet I still managed to get an A. As soon as class starts, attendence is taken, and he lectures the entire time. Really knows his stuff, and unlike others I understood him fine. Expect lots of studying though.
Dropped the class only about a week into it and I'm glad I did after reading the posts. He seems to be a hard professor.

Tends to talk to fast,you need to take good notes because the way he says definitions in lectures is the same way it is on exams. BE prefered to do alot of memorizing and research for his exams because some things aren't in the book

I really enjoyed his lectures. They taught me not only historical knowledge, but disipline on how to take notes well without relying on the instructor to write all over the board. I thought he was very fair and very effective.
He's a pretty good professor. You really have to be there everyday b/c most of the stuff on the exams are from his lectures...make sure you're a good note-taker b/c he doesnt right on the board often. He lectures for the full 3 hours but its worth it !
Very strict professor. His class isn't too hard except he takes off massive points in the essays when it's short, when he clearly said he just wants the main points. Also his tests are much easier in the spring/fall term. DO NOT TAKE IN SUMMER! Oh if you're the type that misses classes.dont take him
This is not a class for people who like to be spoonfed answers. You have to put the effort into the study guide. The books are neccasary for his class. He talks so you can write things done. He's not slow but not that fast He tends to go off topic from time to time Never Never be late for his class.

Professor Visoni is a great teacher! He really knows what he's talking about, not like most of the teachers in this school. He lectures for the full three hours. Make sure you take good notes b/c it is definitely going to be on the exam.
I never read the book and still got an A in his course. He literally gives you the answers - all you have to do is listen. He gives you all the essays for the test weeks ahead of time. Face a mirror and point and laugh if you failed this course.
Amazing professor!!Class is interesting but you must work HARD for an A. Attendence is mandatory if you want to do well. He gives you the essay questions for the test before he even begins the lechture. Also, it's best to take good notes and NOT read the textbook- the notes are enough to get an A
Not that easy teacher, speaks fast and u have to have a good ear to take notes. Essay questions not that easy at all. YES, the class gets BORING after an hour. This is a 3 hr. class, BRING A PILLOW TO THIS CLASS.

He's excellent. His lectures are very interesting and informative. He give topics of lectures that will be on the tests in advance, and will allow you to email him. If he sees u pay attention in class he will help you. If u don't,he won't help you. I would recommend him to anyone. I got an A.

Nice guy. He gives you 50 words weeks before every exam. 15 of them will be on the exam and 10 must be answered(matching definition). He also gives 10 essay questions, 6 of which will be on exam, 4 of which must be answered. I never bought the book and got a B and A+ on his exams, because I used his Exam previews to know what to write in notes.
Is only class i can get C in my whole college life. I can't apprecite him more. However, I still go to NYU with full scholarship. If u can, drop him before u take him. Good luck for u if u had 4.0 GPA.

He is very informative but, this class can be very challenging. If your concerned about your GPA, he may not be the one for you. ESPECIALLY IN THE SUMMER!!
Great professor. You have to go to class and take good notes, otherwise you will not do well. If you are confused about anything he is always in his office during posted hours and will spend as much time with you as you need. Contrary to what the other user said, I still have a 4.0 after his class. Also writes fantastic letter of reccomendation.
Easy Class, excellent Professor, i disagree with the ratings on how horrible his teaching is, if u find his classes difficult, you are just lazy. He gives you exactly what will be on the exams weeks b4 the actual exam. I was worried about taking his class but I got an A this summer. I HIGHLY recommand this class.

Visoni is not a teacher where you can just sit around and pass. He does make you work for your grade. But he is by far the BEST history teacher I have ever had. I am a history buff and he knows what he's talking about and how to teach. If you don't understand him, you're just plain naive and stupid. He prepares you fully for tests and grades fairly

THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE HAD IN QCC. It's true he is not a pushover and will make you work for your grade.But he knows exactly what he's talking about and can teach. If you're bright enough to comprehend what he's saying and enjoy an excellent teacher who makes the class more than interesting (he's a wonderful story teller) then take him.

You have to work for your grade here. You have to take alot of notes, do the readings and study. Write everything he says. He is very interesting, intelligent and informative however the test requires ALOT of preparation and memorizing. There's no homework, one term paper and ALOT of reading and reviewing notes, I got an A, but it wasn't easy.

I was intially interested in taking this course, until I encountered the professor from hell. To teach requires sympathy and an ability to care; in which this professor does not have. He is the type of person hat feels he is always right, there is no reasoning wit him.The time and energy that I spent in this class was not worth it. Aviod him!

This was my favorite class at Queensborough. Visoni lectures as if he's telling a story. I got a C on the 1st test and talked ot him, ended up with an Ain the class. Write down everything he says and memorize it.
Well I would say that he is a fair guy. You gotta be on time in class and listen to him. His examz are pretty fair and you better study for them. Class is interesting. I took ancient civilization with him and I liked the stories he used to tell in class.
This was a sad case of incompatibility between student and professor. For the life of me I could not understand what this man was saying, which was extremely dismaying because he said a lot. More dismaying still is that everything he said was on the exam. I found the lecturing style to be morose and I had trouble hearing him. I failed this class.
One of the most amazing professors I've had while at QCC. If you want a challenge, take Visoni. You must work for a high grade. His lectures are vivid and interesting. He's an amazing storyteller. He never writes on the board, so note-taking skills are a must. His exams are purely from his lectures. His only assignment is a five page paper.

The man is great, a great professor and all around nice guy. He gives you the tests well in advance(I mean all the questions and essays) and gives you a damn lot amount of time for the paper. His class was extremely interesting; the book cheap albeit rarely used. English is not his first language so he does mumble words. Great professor.

I took Professor Visoni in the summer, and I must say, he was a very good professor. To grade us, he had us watch five movies and he gave us five questions to answer for each. He's a very good professor, and actually explains things, unlike Edmund Clingan. Clingan is HORRIBLE. Visoni is a very good professor and I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Visoni has to be the most interesting teacher you will ever have. His knowledge is amazing, he knows dates and events without ever looking at any text whatsoever. He is very straight foward and you are given more than enough time to study. I would suggest him to anyone. He is one of the funniest guys i have ever met.

Excellent professor. He tells a story in a way that keeps you interested. I took this class during the winter session which was intensive, but not as bad as I expected. He gave us the terms to study on the first day, so you just need to pace yourself.
i took him for the winter session, although being it was 9 days it was very intense he is a very good professor and very good patience. He literally will repeat himself to whoever is asking any questions. Do not be afraid to go to him with questions or even email him. He is not a hard grader as long as you put the answer in the content!

He made history interesting! I really enjoyed his class. He provides a list of terms in the beginning of the semester that will be on the exam. Start exam prep early, you can't cram for the exam. If you're a serious student and if you are prepared to put effort into the class you will do great.
Was not a History buff prior signing up for this course. Yet I really thoroughly enjoyed this class. Never had a problem understanding him. Just talks really fast, but not a big deal. His classes are basically this; he'll lecture for about an hour, then flip on a DVD. He's a hard grader, but as long as you do the work you should be fine.
When I read all the previous comments regarding his accent and efficiency as a professor, I was worried. However, what I experienced was nothing but pleasure. Could understand him crystal clear.

gave me 0 in a 48 point essay.. 4 questions.. i had the main points in the essay but he gives you a X or a 0 if you dont get ALL the answers in the question. like what the hell? what kind of professor are you? just fail everybody? theres something wrong if 70% of the class got under a 40..

He is a great professor. His lectures were informative and very interesting. You must attend all his classes and be able to take good notes for his lectures. He gives a study guide which is very helpful for the tests.
this dude grades the essays like there is no tomorrow, On the test i had everything right on the multiple choice question, yet he gave me only 10 out of 60 points on the essay. I wrote a lot think it was like 9 pages and i know the stuff, what i was writing about but he argued it wasnt on point
when i signed up for this class i had a different professor at first..unfortunately she left in the middle of the semester for personal reasons..when i learned i was getting a new professor and read the reviews on here i was really nervous and considered dropping the class..however i got an a in the class and learned alot..
I took his class in the summer and just received "C" from him. He gives out 5 homework essays which count 50% of your grade and the final counts 50%. so if you mess up with the homework and the final, then you fail this course. Unless you know everything about the ancient history, do not take him. It will lower your GPA

Hard teacher, wants to leave class after it ends. does not know English that well. you will have to study a lot. try not to take if you have to.
Do not take him! All he does is talk and talk and most of the things that he says are not even in the exam. 3 exams only but he is very picky with what you write in the essay.
He makes you watch movies on whatever the topic is.Lectures are long and dry. His accent is kind of thick. your final exam will count for most of your grade so study. Homework makes up almost nothing of your final grade so even if you get between a 7-10 on your hw and you do poorly on the final exam he will fail you.

He is the history department chair and don't even know how to speak english so well. His class was hard for the fact that he don't help you with anything. Liked this teacher at first, gives great lectures. Kind of cold hearted. Has a tantrum If you are 1 min late. Yet he is 2 min late everyday. Only cares about himself. But still, if you want to just sit in on a lecture this would be a great one to sit in on. Just don't be late so that you don't catch his attention because he will stop to yell.

I was shocked to have received a C- from this class for the winter session! Unbelievable. I wrote such an in depth essay and knew all the key termmI came to every class,and did all the homework. Great professor, but he will lower your gpa even if you're smart
I took this class a few years ago and I did not like this professor at all. I am a very good student who does not mind doing a lot of work but this professor was a really bad experience for me. I can not address how boring and painful that semester was to me. Currently taking the same class with another prof - much better! I love History now!
RUDE! Doesn't know how to speak to people properly. Very strict on lateness and phone usage (understandable) but doesn't know how to properly speak to people. Doesn't give any notes. You have to really pay attention to get all the answers to study guide questions. Textbook was pointless. Literally maybe 40% of the material was in the book.
Despite the "Score" ( Which is honestly a completely artificial and inaccurate way of gauging an instructor) The class was an absolute pleasure. No, he isn't easy and it is practically impossible to score any points at all on his exams unless you spend extensive time studying. He is a very hard professor. He does not take to lateness, I know firsthand but I think he's one of the best professors I've ever had. He's hard on you, but if you study extensively, stay involved and actually care for history you will enjoy his class immensely. He knows what he's talking about and can clearly see when his students do not.

Took him during the winter and his final was just insane! For the final gives 10 essay questions, he chooses 6 out of the 10 then you choose 4 of the 6 essay topics and write 4 essay then he gives 50 vocab words he choose 25 out of the 50 & then you choose 15 out of the 25 and write about a paragraph for each one. Tough class & grader! Don't do it!
He's a very strict person who doesn't take well to lateness or rudeness. Attendance is not something that he actively enforces, but is a must if you want to even try and get a c. He is 100% willing to help or explain if you look for it, but will not try to convince you to work or chase you around. His tests are hard, but he's a good teacher!
He gives you basically whats going to be on the test. Great lectures. I really dislike history but somehow he made it insteresting. Very strict.. Does not take attendance after the 1st two weeks. No homework. 3 exams. Final is not accumulated. His exams are hard if you dont study... Gives study guide. No textbook needed.
He hates lateness and gets sensitive about it. He's very rude when speaking about lateness. One boy asked questions after coming late and he refused to answer him. The same boy has asked questions on days when he wasn't late but this professor is unexplainably rude to him. The good thing is, If you pay attention, you'll do good.
I took his summer class. The professor made history interesting. Very interesting actually. I found it hard before his class but his classes were fun. The questions are easy to answer if you study hard and study in ahead (essay questions 4 choose out of 6 and defining 10terms out of 15 given).

Let me tell you something about this teacher because I recently took him for the winter session. He is great, you learn a lot from his class but do not play with him! He tells you one day he wants you to start looking up the words another day he says don't use GOOGLE.

Took this professor twice, for HE110 and HE112. Brilliant guy!. You would learn more during his lectures than reading the book. Don't miss his class, his lectures are more important. Before test he gives us review sheets for which we get the answers to by ourselves. Also, all the answers are on PowerPoints, something he doesn't give out. He never uses the book or make us use it. I enjoyed the professors lectures very much. He gave a review sheet to study for his 2 midterms and 1 final. Overall tough grader, great lecturer and pretty fair. Do not take his class if you want to get an A. He's overall a very knowledgeable professor and the lectures are interesting and fun to listen to. But since you get graded only on 3 tests, and he's a tough grader, skip this class.
His grading criteria is all based on tests. He does not count class participation, homework(for the most part), and attendance as part of his grading criteria. It is only him talking throughout class and the students(us) taking random notes while sometimes getting a off tangent. He does not care much about his own students and does not encourage.
Took this class in the winter. It was only 9 days and 4 1/2 hours. He gave homework every other day (essays). He only gave a final and for the final he told us we had to know 3 facts about 54 terms and write 6 out of 10 essays. Test day comes and he only put 15 terms which we easy and told us to choose 4 out of 6 topics for the essays. still failed
The worst professor at QCC. By far a real tough man to deal with. Nothing more than a highly educated man with pride, and with authority that looks down at others. After reaching 5 minutes late, on a snowy day for class, he said I couldn't take the test, and no make ups. What a horrible professor.

He's a nice guy. You can have a conversation with him and he wouldn't have an attitude. BUT, walk into class late and you'll hear it. Your grade is based off of two tests then the final. Nothing else. No extra credit either, if you fail, you fail hard. He is such a tough grader. But besides that he is nice smart and funny.
BEST HISTORY TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD!!!! I've never been one to pay attention to history class but when he teaches I'm at the edge of my seat listening and taking notes. His classes are VERY interesting and he is very knowledgeable. Take his class if you actually want to learn and be enlightened, not to slack off. He's very nice and I look up to him.
Overall, this professor was a nightmare. Although attendance wasn't required, i attended around 85% of this class that met twice a week. I took notes, studied for the three tests given and still got a D+ in this class. He is so rude, such a tough grader and should be avoided at all costs. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS HE TEACHES!

I got kicked out of class because i was typing the date of a test that he announced in my notes too loud. He assumed i was on facebook when i wasn't . Even after i showed him i was typing the date for the test he still kicked me out. dont take this class. doesnt write anything on the board except for the names of the person hes talking about.
His lectures are very interesting about the French Revolution, WWI, and WWII. He based his grade on 3 tests. Usually 10 vocabulary words and 2 short essay questions. I went to his office hours frequently and he raised my final grade tremendously.
Don't listen to everyone else he is not a bad professor he is the chairperson of history department and he knows his history. However he is a little boring but he does give review sheets that have about 50 words on it and 6 essay questions. Sometimes he will eliminate words and essay questions. You have to study you have to. He doesn't write notes but listen to things he says here and there and google the terms and you'll be fine. You don't even have to show up get the review sheet find out the test date and google everything. The essay questions can only be a paragraph. A lot of kids in my class failed and everyone is saying he is a harsh grader and it's because those kids didn't study. If you don't study you will not pass I studied and did great
His lectures are great and he's very smart. I agree that he is a tough grader; I just received my final grade and didn't understand it at all, so I emailed him and asked. The grade i got on my final surprised me because i thought I did pretty well. He gives no homework, and only 2 exams and the final. I'm butthurt, but the guy is a great professor.
ANCIENT CIVILIZATION He's a passionate teacher and expects his students to be passionate about learning. Lateness were marked as absences. Don't be late nor absent because you will miss plenty of important information. He gave only 3 exams and no extra credit work. I advise you to write every word he mentions to ensure success in this class.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIS CLASS! He does not have high expectations for his students, he just lectures and lectures and never explains anything to you, if you need it to be clarified. His test are difficult, he gives you vocabulary words and half arent on the exam. Do not take him your will regret it!

I took Dr. Visoni for a summer course and I really enjoyed him as a professor. You read these reviews and expect a difficult class but it really isn't, you have to take notes to recall the lectures because it is so much information but he makes it so easy to remember. I was hesitant but I enjoyed Dr. Visonis class, you have to study and read!
Took his summer 2018 history 110 course and absolutely was not pleased. He does not put the whole class time to use, he goes off topic and talks about irrelevant topics. He writes down names on the board and you have to go home and read and understand everything on your own. He is not nice at all.
I took him in the Summer of 2018 hoping to be easy going and respectful professor, but I played myself. He does not have a clear lecture and goes off topic about unrelated subject such as politics and problems I believe only concerns himself rather than teaching us what we payed for. Took this as a winter course. I was expected to do a lot of work. He Showed long videos during class. Homework was based on the videos and lectures, so pay attention. Make sure to take notes. If you get a homework question wrong ask for the correct answer, important for final. Study for your final exam. Don't be late to class, you'll miss a lot.
Professor Visoni is nice, but tough, I am not going to lie. I do not think I have ever worked this hard for a class in my life. I had to study everyday, which is expected bc we are in college, but it was to the point where I felt stressed all the time. I worked very hard for my grade, so if you are a hard worker, I am sure that you will do fine !
Honestly the worse professor I had at QCC. He seems to get upset over the smallest things. There has been students asking questions and he'll have an attitude and tell them to stop asking stupid questions. There was times I was taking notes on my laptop and he told me to put it away because he assumed I was on social media.

I ultimately hate history but this class was pretty awesome. He doesn't give you homework but you have the chance to study at your own time. Don't be afraid to go to him and ask for help. He would definitely help you just don't come too late asking for it because then he can't do anything about it. BE ON TIME or you'll miss stuff for the exam.

Prof. Visoni was the best prof. This was my 2nd semester in history. Trust me please he was the best. He gives every opportunity to get his students all A's. Sometimes students lack bcz of too much in their lives. He gives extra credit which is whole grade up. Just take him and work for your grade and he is motivational also.

Entire grade depended on 3 tests-one including the final. Used info straight out of the textbook for test and still failed. Showed no leniency- if its not what he wants, you won't pass. No assignments given that allowed for me to get to know his grading style. Gives good feedback but I had to reach him outside of class for it.
He does not like students. This professor is the head of the history department and he shouldnt teach if he doesnt have patience with the students. He told us for extra credit to go to the Metropolitan Museum and do 2 reports for him and he did not count it towards our grade. Dont take him, his lectures has nothing to do with whats on the test.
No HW, so your grade solely depends on 2 tests and 1 final. For each he gives you a study guide in advance - 50 definitions (he picks 15, you do 10) and 6 essay questions (2 at home 2 in class). So, pay attention in class (maybe record the lecture) and skim through the readings. Go to his office if you have questions. He is willing to help.

since day one, the professor was rude. I thought he was just having a bad day until i noticed that he is like that everyday. Took him for the winter. Gave us 8 writing assignments; 3 on his lectures & 5 on the movies we saw in class. The final was just mix & match terms w/ definitions, no essay(s) or short answer questions. For the writing assignments, be prepared to write a lot. He rarely uses power-points so be rdy to take notes when he lectures.

I took Prof. Visoni's war and warfare history class. Great class. I enjoyed it very much and learned a lot. He is very knowledgeable. He would always answer questions clearly and with a lot of info.

This Professor is impossible to please, gives a crazy amount of slides (over 90 plus videos) to review and no matter how hard you try to answer his follow up questions they are NEVER up to his standard. Ok, he isn't terrible but he makes you work for you grade honestly, he makes the material super clear and straight forward, it is just about time management after the second week I got the hang of it and i received a 10/10.

I dont know the reviews are so terrible for this professor. He verbally lectures and doesnt write down notes, but he does give a detailed study guide of what you need to know for each exam. I would say youre an auditory learner and you want to learn quite a bit about history then take this professor. He was also very helpful during office hours.

What I love most? How were in the middle of a pandemic & rather than hold an actual class, theres only videos provided and on top of it hes rude! When it came to asking simple questions or turning in work , he was harsh. Rather than help his students, he bickers and gets paid for it.

He sends a PowerPoint every week and all you have to do is to answer 5 questions. The answers are literally in the slides, you just have to be responsible enough to listen to them. He reads them clearly and tells us our mistake. He's not picky!

His papers are based entirely off of his very confusing slides and lectures. When you recieve your paper back and he comments on it its like one or two word comments that dont even make sense.

This was an asynchronous course that I took in the summer for 5 weeks. 3 ppt lectures were given weekly, each an hour or so long. You must listen and take notes. I wrote 10 pages each week single-spaced. You need to give time and put in immense details to do well. It's simple but tedious. No late assignments accepted.
I do not lie about bad professors because I got a good grade. This professor not only gives rude feedback, but if you email him concerning the feedback, he is rude there as well. I do not recommend his class to anyone but if you have to, make sure you write at least 5 pages with an extensive amount of detail from hours long PowerPoints and a video.
Actually took him twice. In person for Hist 110 summer 19 and asynchronous online for 112 in summer 21. The in person experience was much more enjoyable and I feel like the online classes dont do him justice. Hes actually a really great professor and although the summer class online was a lot of work, we were warned and given ample time.

I got "A"s in my 3 courses, but barely passed this one. It's not my writing skills, since one was Eng Lit. It's how he teaches, his course structure, & grading system. They're all horrible. You are must watch prerecorded lectures over PPT slides, YouTube videos, & read the textbook, on top of 2pgs min response to awkwardly presented questions.

I'm a straight A student yet managed to get an F in this class by 2 points due to this Professors awful teaching and grading methods. The powerpoint lectures are unintuitive and take unnecessary amounts of time to learn. We write 6-10 page responses per week and he grades way too strictly for such an intro class. This man grades are based off trying to fail the student. His lectures work better than a lullaby. He tells you to follow his instructions, but when you do that he still fails you. He never responds to students on time. He does not check the work properly and just grade you. Even if you reach out to him to check to show him where you answered a question and he missed it, he will ignore you. He even told me I won't pass his class.
Took his class in Fall 2023, so I'm a little late. The lectures were pretty standard, sometimes they were a bit boring, sometimes they were fine. My problems lie with the exams, which were the ONLY grades the entire semester. Four in total, each being FIVE essays and done in 2 days. This was ludicrous, having shoved all writing into a few weekends.
One of the toughest classes I've taken. The lectures are fast-paced and tough to follow. Grading is very strict - I found unstuckstudy and ChatGPT helpful for staying on top of the workload. Avoid this prof if you can, but if you must take it, be prepared to work hard.
Don't do it unless mandatory. He doesn't respond to emails. Uploads grades late, so if you've been writing your essays one way and it's wrong you won't know until it's too late.

I usually don't do well in History, but Professor Visoni answered all my questions quickly, was always willing to help and gave me great feedback. He's very kind and if you actually try and your effort shows, it won't go unnoticed. Highly recommend!
This professor is horrible I wish I read the reviews before I signed up for this class . Very inaccessible. He doesn't respond or grade papers in a timely manner. He always accuses you of using outside sources so having prior knowledge on the subject you'll get penalized. He sent an email telling us to drop the class if we don't like it. BEWARE!
