Gina is an amazing teacher She is so funny. I did not miss a day of her class only because she made it so interesting to go. The only time you use the book is for reviews,but its good to have around AMAZING teacher, great personality, and super funny. the class is surrounded by 3 tests and thats it. but if you study you do perfectly fine. Took Gina for Human Sexuality and it was super easy. Attendance is not mandatory but she takes attendance on a random day. she gives clear instructions as to what is on the exams. 3 exams,1 power point presentation and that's all. Makes class very interesting. Nothing more to see than take her!!!

Gina is AMAZING! If you don't take her when you have the chance you're crazy! She is always sure not to offend anyone and tells so many stories to get her point across about the lesson and makes sure everyone understands. She's always willing to help, too! I got a B- in the class because I didn't pay attention at first, too busy studying for A&P :/

This woman is amazing. She is the sweetest person ever, super goofy and funny, and I love the way we take notes. She has structured outlines for her notes that you fill in in class, and the TA exam review sessions tell you exactly what to study for the test. She even gives some test questions like "What is my name?" and puts a smiley next to it.

Awesome teacher. She's nice and cares about every student. Only some readings in the textbook right before tests. Goes over everything thoroughly and makes sure the student understands. Literally the best teacher I've had at FAU.

I took Sociological Perspectives with Gina in the summer. Gina is one of the best professors at FAU. This class is an easy A. Take notes and attend every class. You do not need the textbooks if you do this. I never studied for the exams and I got an A. She gives away a couple free answers each of the exams. There is one easy required short paper.

She means very well, but her class is WAYYYYY too easy, she tells you exactly what to write down in your notes and repeats it at least 5 times. It feels as though I am taking a middle school level course.

Gina is a great professor w/a lot of knowledge. Here are the pros/cons of the class. Pros: easy 3 exams & 4 papers, not a hard grader (like for the group presentation), & she kept the class entertained. Cons: She doesn't lecture much (pro for some), group presentations, & leaving each class early (pro for some also). Overall a great class.

Gina was amazing. Even if you happen to miss one day of class you can easily pull out the information from the book using the outline. The exams are all an easy reflection of the study guide. She makes an already easy class even easier. You write 2 500 word essays and watch probably 4 videos. She does iClicker evey once in a while usually closer to test days. Test are extremely simple, but get the textbook because there are a couple things on the test that she doesn't talk about. ^_^ Great teacher. Take her!

I took Gina for Sociological Perspectives last semester. Gina is the greatest lecturing professor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. More than once she had members of the class (myself included) in tears from her heartfelt & real-life examples of racism, poverty, etc. It wasn't uncommon for the class to give her an applause after the lecture.

I enjoyed going to her class. In the syllabus it says attendance is mandatory but she only took attendance twice the whole semester. Do the online work and study the guides.

Absolutely amazing teacher, I wish she taught more courses. She's hilarious, you won't fall asleep in class because she's always making you laugh. Her assignments are very straightforward and only require paying attention to 2 movies. Exams are super simple, minimal reading needed. She does random attendance once in the semester for extra credit.

Covers about 14 chapters, 3 videos, 1 bs research paper, and homework assignments for each chapter. This class was intended to ease students into college and is essentially useless as it serves as a forum for social issues. Uses Iclickers once and decides to ramble to help "exemplify" sociological concepts.

This was by far one of my most interesting, more informative, and favorite classes of my undergraduate career. Gina is an amazing professor (yes she goes by her first name). Everyone should take her human sexuality class before graduating. She is kind and provides warnings of possible triggers for people and is understanding of different views.

The nicest, and funniest professor I've ever had. She really cares about what all of her students have to say, and always gives good feedback. I really enjoyed coming to this class, and would definitely recommend everyone to take it. I learned so much that I will be able to take with me, and use in the future.

I've never laughed so much in a class and never loved a professor so much. There are 2 important essays that her TA grades, she will make your life a living hell. I never want to take a class with that TA again.

She makes the class very enjoyable and she genuinely cares for her students, if you go to class and participate which honestly she makes it so easy to do that! For the tests they are very conceptual which is what threw me off but do the homework and it will be easy!

The class was very fun and the material was interesting to learn especially the documentaries she showed us. HOWEVER, the exams in my opinion were tricky. The first one was closed book I aced it but the second one was open notes but it was very tricky and yes my grade reflected how tricky the exam was. Which brought my grade down from an A to B+ .

I took her my first year for intro to sociology and decided to take her again for human sexuality, and both classes open your eyes to real world issues. There is no homework for this class, only readings that are discussed/written about in class, one paper which is self explanatory, and 3 exams.

Great professor super sweet, the class was interesting at times the overall class is very easy there's in class writings you can use your book, she shows lots of documentaries. Beware of the tests there not hard but very tricky and they count for 75% of your grade. Research paper pretty easy 1500 words or more but was not bad. Test for the testss!!

Spring 2020 (COVID shutdown semester) we had 3 (100 point) exams, a 100-point 1000-word essay, 10 online HW assignments w/ strict deadlines, and two 10-point short essay assignments comparing a documentary to what we're learning in class. I got a 80/100 on my first exam after just an hour of memorizing lecture notes. Aced the last 2.

She is really nice and funny but I wasn't a fan of her class. The hw is mc questions from the textbook and is super long but an easy A and sometimes discussion questions. The hw barely did anything to my grade so the tests affected it a lot. She gives study guides for the tests but you really have to read the chapters in the text book to do well.

Great professor. The course assignments consist of numerous reports and discussions on various films and novels that are both immensely informative and very interesting. The final exam for this course is written response and open book. As long as you do all of the required work, it is very easy to get an A in this class.

Easy A if you don't mind writing/essays. There's 4 video reflections, 3 discussions, and 3 book reflections, plus the final. Everything is in written response. The final is 6 questions that must be 3,000 words total and the video reflections must be 500 words. The book reflections are around 1000-2000 words. You WILL need the textbook.

Highly recommend! The professor made this class so interesting to learn about. The documentaries really give you a new perspective as well as the studies. This was a writing class. Discussion posts and assignments were all writing, including 2 tests with 5 written response questions each for a total of 1500 words per exam so be prepared to write.

She gives at-home proctored tests but they are all open note. She posts her presentations and word documents with all the information you need. Great professor, easy A.

Great professor and I have no complaints ! There were a decent amount of writing assignments but it's not overbearing. Not many tests and the class you learned a lot. I would recommend taking her !

Professor Carreno-Lukasik is very kind and funny. She makes her lectures lively and engages with her students. Attendance is not required, but you will not be disappointed attending one of her lectures. I would take her again in a heartbeat.

FAU is lucky to have her. Im graduating soon and needed to let everyone know she's an angel and her class was a very memorable one. If I could go back in time for just a little to experience being a freshman in her class again, I WOULD. SHES AWESOME! GINA YOU WILL BE MISSED :( GO OWLS!!!

Gina was absolutely amazing. I accidentally missed one of her papers (totally on me tho) and it brought my grade down by a lot. So be ware to do those papers, I promise the lectures and readings are super interesting, this class will definitely make you look at the sociological part of human sexuality from a completely new perspective. Loved her!

This is my 3rd semester taking Gina and she was amazing as usual. Lectures are engaging, material is super easy to digest. There are 3 papers, but if you follow the rubric you will do fine. I got 100 on every assignment besides the two exams we had. She also cares deeply about her students and is very empathetic. Can't recommend taking her enough.

Gina was a fantastic professor. The course content was a bit progressive for my mindset, but was not overly political. All assignments open on day 1 and are extremely reasonable. Tests (2) are essay format and are a bit long, but the info is provided to you. Definitely don't agree with a lot of the subject matter, but hey, it's college. Take Gina!

Pretty easy class. Most assignments were writing responses to documentaries, usually 1000 words. She gives consistent reminders and is on top of grading. The video content can be graphic and disturbing, so be aware. Overall, respectful professor.

She is such a caring individual and an easy grader, but her class is so much work for an elective. There is like 5 discussions, 5 video reflections and 5 book reflections. You literally have to buy like 5 books because there is assignments and her final is about all of them. Easy grader, but just a difficult class. The videos are disturbing.

Gina is an amazing professor!! She is super understanding and discusses very real topics (and graphic) in a respectful and realistic manner. She gives a lot of warnings prior to the discussion topic so you wont be caught off guard. If you were good at psychology this class shouldn't be difficult for you. 10/10 class I loved it.

this professor really cares for her students!! i took her live online from Palm Beach State for Summer A, she has a big heart and wants you to really learn about this course. She is passionate, only had 4 reflection videos minimum of 300 words, 1 essay of 1000 words and 2 exams. it was easy! stressfree. TAKE PROFESSOR GINA!! you will not regret it

Gina was the best teacher I have ever had. She is the most caring, understanding teacher and will work with you through any concerns. Class meets two times a week, but she doesn't always take attendance. We had Learnsmart modules due every week before class, and a total of 6 exams. 3 are on canvas, 3 are on Learnsmart. Very easy if you take notes.

An absolutely fabulous professor. I truly wish she taught every subject I took. Her classes are primarily lectures, with the occasional discussion writing prompts. 6 exams overall (3 lecture exams and 3 connect exams), and she allows you to use your notes for them. Some heavy topics are discussed but she warns you ahead of time. PICK HER.
