she's a cool teacher, very young and easy, a really enjoying class to get an A, recommend to those who wants to get some exercise(walking)or to improve ur gpa.
Very hot and very easy.....recommend taking her just for a fun class...
This class is great, good teacher too, take her if u want to rest and get some good exercise, there's quizzes which are REALLY easy by the way, easy A for sure! its worth taking this course even if its for 1unit.
Very easy class. A couple of health related assignments (i.e. food, exercise, and goals), 3 quizzes, and a final. Walks are fun to do, just make sure not to skip more than 3 times in this class.
Easiest class ever. She's very nice and young and makes it comfortable, although she asks the class to discuss things and talk alot about stuff that is very obvious
She is one of the nicest professors that I've ever had. She's really helpful and easy going and you can joke with her. She's totally awesome.
She made the class worth taking!
She was a really good teacher, even though she didnt quite know everything there is to know about running. With a marathon under her belt she did have a somewhat good knowledge on how to be a good runner. She knew how to get us motivated to get out and run anyway, and the final was an easy 3 miles on the track.
Great teacher to have for Intro. to Knes. She's the best!!!
I was surprised that she was so young and wouldn't know much, but I was wrong! Great teacher and I learned a lot.
Great professor. I have taken her twice (intro to kines and stress management), and would highly recommend her to anyone. Final grade is based on two 50 question multiple choice tests (on the 882 scantron). Super easy, uses no text books, and attendance/being on time to class is not mandatory. Very cool professor.
She is a very nice and easy teacher. This is an easy A class. The only thing I did not like about the stress management class is she expects you to write drama about your life in a journal to her. If your life doesnt have that much drama you get a lower grade but if you have a lot of issues you will get an A. Just agree with her and you'll get an A
Young, understanding, very specific, organized, sweet. She understands how it is to be a student,& how broke we are so she doesnt use a textbook in her class, just have to print out articles once in a while. i've learned alot in her class & more fell deeply in love w/kinesiology. i recommend her to everyone!
Very sweet, very approachable, very helpful, and into her students. Lectures can get BORING, however. It's easy to be so bored that you don't take notes, and then miss stuff on tests. She's really great though, and she tries hard to keep stuff interesting.
One of the best professors i've ever had. She gives you all the information you need for all of your exams in the lecture slides. There is never a dull moment in the class because Gina can relate to everything we're going through.
Fun class. Class requires some effort but the large assignments are easy and fun.
Professor Harmston is a good professor. Her class wasn't hard, but not easy either. I got a B in the class without even really studying for the final. Should have been an easy A but I got lazy. I definitely recommend her, she's cool, and helpful too. And best of all, she doesn't use a text book so less $$$ out of your pocket. And she's a cutey too!
She is a nice professor who means well. She encourages students to do their best and wants to ensure everyone is familiar with the kines program. the work isn't hard, but it's tedious. At times the class felt pointless. We had 2 tests, group project, and a packet (40% of grade) This class is an easy B if you just show up
Great teacher. Very helpful. You will walk away from this class knowing what you want to do with your life, or you will walk away knowing what you don't want to do with your life. She is very clear and, again, very helpful. She cares about her students and loves teaching!
To keep it simple, take her if you can. She made me so excited to be a KNES major! Not a difficult class, just do the assignments and go to lecture. There are minimal tests, a few assignments, and a group project. This class was an easy A.
Gina is super clear and the class the is really interesting. She really opened my eyes to the field. The work is easy, the career packet was really tedious but not impossible. I recommend going to every class since she doesnt post any pp on titanium. Easy class and definitely recommend.
Online takers beware! Zero lectures, zero powerpoints, no study guide, no class activity besides a few journal entries and discussion boards. She expects you to read the book, memorize everything and take her test. Ridiculous,
**WARNING** DO NOT TAKE HER ONLINE CLASS!! You have to memorize each chapter VERBATIM to pass. She has NO LECTURES, NO STUDY INFO and gives NO HELP!
Easy 8AM class. Test are really easy if you take notes and listen in class. There are a few assignements and one group project, but the assignments are helpful for the future and are not just boring unuseful busy work. No textbook needed. Take her!
Took this class online for a GE and it was beyond easy. Do the discussions and journals. Read on your own if you want to excel on the tests. Read the chapter summaries (at least) if you're just trying to pass.
Easy class if you simply show up and pay attention. She's interesting and very good with engaging everyone. :)
Awesome! Really cares about students! Relatively easy class with 2 assignments (that are due at the beginning of the semester, because she knows how stressful it is when most professors assign a bunch of projects toward the end of a semester). And 2 exams. She teaches online for the spring, and there's more work involved, so take her in fall.
I took this class during Intersession! Best Decision. This class was really easy online and interesting! We just had 3 journal entries, 3 Discussion Boards and 3 exams. Read the textbook, all questions from the exam are in there!! If you are looking for an easy A and an upper GE, I recommend this class!
She is an amazing teacher. You can really tell that she loves what she does. There are quite a bit assignments we had to do, they weren't difficult just a little time consuming. There's only 2 tests. They're multiple choice, but you need to know details! This class opened my eyes to all the opportunities I have with kinesiology.
Very straightforward class. You need to buy the book!! She gives you 3 journals, 3 discussion boards, and 3 tests. All based on the book, she doesn't give you any lecture notes so you need to read teh book.
Take her for Intro to Kinesiology, you won't regret it! She makes the class fun & genuinely wants everyone to do well and become more informed about the major and it's concentrations. No book needed and no essays. There are a few assignments/ small projects that are pretty easy to complete. Compared to the other intro classes, Harmston's is best.
Easy class, lectures are kinda pointless until you get to the graduation knes stuff. enjoyed the class a lot. EASY! i would highly recommend this classprofessor
I regret to take professor Harmston class. KNES/HESC 353 class, 3 exams was extreme difficult. I have never seen any professor like her in my entire 10 years in school. NO study guide, read the whole book, NO extra credit, NO help. Even an honor student cannot get A. test questions are extreme difficult with little time. Read other negative reviews
Material is great and journal/discussions are both few and easy. Beware of tests. Three tests, worth 210/250 semester points. Test are short 25 questions in half-hour time limit. Not much wiggle room on test if you miss questions, and questions are often lacking importance to most crucial material learned. Syllabus quiz too at start of semester.
I'm taking her online class this summer. Extremely hard for me. No other help from her besides her chapter note, which is NOT HELPFUL at all. Her exams are tricky, questions are stated in a way that may get you confused. NOT RECOMMENDED.
Best professor ever !! I took for both knes 202 and stress management , I wish she would teach more classes ! Do the work, show up to class, and you will pass. She truly cares about her students and wants them to pass. Don't be afraid to go to her office hours , she is always willing to help. Very knowledgeable on the subject! TAKE HER !!!
took her in person for 202 about 2 years ago, loved her. taking her now for 353 online, love it. just registered for spring, and will be taking her 342 class. you do need to read and pay attention, but its nothing hard by any means. she loves to help and give feedback. she definitely keeps things fun.
This class is an easy A IF you're willing to read the whole book. 3 journals, 3 discussion board assignments, a syllabus quiz, and 3 exams. The exams make up 210/250 points of her class so STUDY & READ THE BOOK!!!
Simple online class. Not too many small assignments, your grade is mostly based off of tests so do well on all of them (3). She is very nice and is available to give any feed back you need. She's a fast grader and provides interesting things to try each week.
Dude take this teacher! Took HESC 353 online and it was a breeze. You do everything on your own time, no weekly assignments, and only 3 tests. Honestly didn't use the textbook at all, all the answers for the test are online (or at least most of them). Perfect online class.
Really nice and sweet professor. She keeps the class active with group assignments and videos. Easy homework assignments. Exams are very vague. If you don't show up to class, you'll miss a big chunk of the exam. First exam the answers were on the powerpoint, but second exam the answers were no where to be found. Overall, eh.
The best and most organized online class I have ever taken! 3 discussion posts+3 replies to peers, 3 journals, 3 exams (noncumulative) & no final. Most online classes I take give a bunch of useless busy work, while this one is straight to the point. Plenty of time is given to complete assignments in order to cater to everyone's busy schedules.
I took this class due to her good ratings on ratemyprof. There is not alot of content or work in this class, you are graded only on a few things. It is VERY difficult to hold an A in this class. She does not do +/- and does not round even if you're at an 89.9%. Her tests are from the book, but some questions are not even in the book.
I regret taking this class. I really thought I was doing well until the third exam. In 25 minutes, I lost a high GPA title all because I missed one additional test question. No rounding, but easy B. Tests are tricky. I guess I messed up, but I would avoid if you care about grades. :/ It's silly, but it's a heavy burden I'll have to learn to forget.
Professor Harmston is amazing! She is super caring towards her students. If you plan on taking KNES/HESC 342, I suggest you take it in person rather than online.
okay, so I took her class with all the great reviews. and honestly it was not great at all. three exams that are worth 70,70, and 65 points. very little opportunity to earn points aside from the exams. AND U MUST READ THE WHOLE TEXTBOOK TO PASS THE CLASS AND EXAMS TO TAKE NOTES. please, just avoid the class at all costs. no extra credit. nothing!
Dreadful experience. 3 exams make up the majority of the course grade, yet the last 2 exams have nothing to do with the current material. Many errors on her exams and seemed upset when students asked for their points back after she listed multiple correct answers. Great material but the exams were so poorly worded and graded
three tests, six assignments and a extra credit opportunity. She response to emails fast and grades a week after you turn in the assignments. I took professor Harmston stress management class prior to 353. I recommend taking her class.
Prof. Harmston is awesome! As long as you read the chapters and listen to the lectures, you'll do great in her class. The tests are more difficult, so be sure to take notes. She's so sweet and does her best to help. 100% recommend her.
Online. Zero lectures: need to memorize the ENTIRE textbook verbatim to get an A. 4 discussion posts&8 reply posts.4 assignments.4 tests. Don't take this teacher. Instead, take a similar class with a public health professor or psychology professor. Or rent a textbook & learn about the subject yourself if you're interested. She also has bad grammar.
Straight up doesn't teach at all in the online 353 and 342 courses. Time given for tests is very short. Her test questions (that she gets from the textbook company and doesn't make herself) are about detailed, pedantic information from the book that she, herself, does not know. Also, the textbook she uses is pseudoscientific (by Corbin and Welk).
I honestly would say without a doubt this is by far the best class and professor I have been in. Personally, I'm not even a public health major and find this class very practical in the real world. You'll learn about real-life applications and furthermore be able to discuss topics that are very useful. She's amazing overall as a professor.
I had her for hybrid. She is a very nice professor and had interesting lectures. Your grade is mostly made up of tests which can be difficult as the class average is usually a high C and the allotted time she gives for tests is short. Questions can be tricky and mostly pertain to the textbook. But she gives a very light assignment/homework load.
The class was useful and extremely engaging. She seems like she genuinely enjoys her job and loves what she is teaching, therefore, making the class an enjoyable one. Gives Ch reviews (study guides) for tests. Weekly discussion boards. Do the work and you will surely get a good grade.
Very straight forward material; didnt read many of the lectures or textbook and was able to do fine on the exams. assignments were very easy and were mainly based on personal experiences rather than answering course material questions. very easy and would recommend for anyone especially as an elective course
i have to say, i really enjoyed this stress management class. take it online, use the book on the exam, and you're chillin! Definitely recommend her for this course! easy class which helped boost my GPA :)
Professor Harmston was super nice and cares for her students. Her class was pretty fun to go to and the homework consists of 4 class discussions and 4 regular assignments. There are 4 tests which are very easy. The textbook was ok, but since it was about our health, it was tolerable. Towards the end, she gave out extra credit for attending. Easy A
This is my favorite professor so far, she is super kind. Her class is super easy and many people passed and never attended. The topics are very interesting and she makes it fun. If you go to class the day before your test she gives you most of the answers. Love her teaching style.
Professor Harmston was very clear and direct with her class. Her class worked around a 4-week system where in those 4 weeks you would have lectures, assignments, and then a test. She posted the slides early allowing you to take notes and add notes during class. Her tests were very simple and straight-forward as long as you paid attention.
I love her! She was really reachable and helpful. Her course is very organized so I knew what was expected. There was an assignment each week that consisted of connecting concepts to personal experiences so it was not hard. There is a total of 6 tests & she provides guided notes, powerpoints, & study guides. I recommend!
Professor Harmston is very kind and passionate and has a clear and easy scheduled class. The class is online with 6 modules with a 30 MC test after each with a few assignments in between, which is very easily manageable. Textbook is available online too. Overall, this class is great and easily one of the best professors I had this semester.
Super easy online class. 7 assignments, 6 tests. Perfect class to take if you want to add one more to an already heavy class workload.
Awesome class! I learned a lot and the professor made the class easy to understand. No midterm or final, just module exams. Definitely take this professor if you can! She's super caring towards students as well.
She is the nicest and coolest professor! She would give us Kahoot reviews and candy at the end of class. Her schedule is very organized and she provided extra credits. The extra credits were answering surveys. To be honest, you don't have to show up to class and still pass. The tests are easy if you study! Good Luck!
Professor Harmston is a nice person and responds to any questions you may have! However, don't let the other reviews fool you - she gives SO MUCH work. If you're looking for an easy class to fill credits - stay away! The class is about stress management but stress is what you will have while taking this class. Not hard material but LOADS of work.
WE LOVE PROFESSOR HARMSTON!! Attendance not mandatory, open book open note TAKE HOME exams. Super interesting lectures and she is so so so kind. She is always ready to help you whether it's for the class or just in life. Actually cares about her students and always has a smile on her face. Free textbook and applicable learning material. Take her!!
Honestly this class is hard. This was suppose to be my easy class for the semester but the exams were tough. Her lectures are super simple but the exams were a different story. Professor is nice but I'd recommend taking something else if you are looking for an easy A.
I took this class as a filler because I heard it was easy. This class made me cry multiple times from how stressed I was, which is ironic since this is a stress management class. Her tests are so hard and will ask you questions that are not from any form of notes or lecture or from the book. Where we are to get this information from? Do not take.
4 exams, 4 hws, 4 discussion boards. MUST HAVE TEXTBOOK. Took this asynchronous. She is nice if you need help. She uses the textbook heavily for exams,hw&discussions. Exams will be textbook based rather than the lecture. Exams are not cumulative. Although the wording can be tricky. Hws/discussions are not difficult. Take if you need an extra class
This class was fairly easy with few assignments, discussions, and tests. You do need to read the textbook for the assignments, but it wasn't too bad. She has always willing to help students and explained topics well with personal stories along with the presentations. I would definitely recommend taking this course with her!
I thought her online class was structed well and manageable! There are only 3 tests, so they are worth a lot of your grade. As long as you watch her lectures and read the book, she tells you everything you need to know!
professor harmston is genuinely was of the best and kindest professors ever. besides being a great human, her class and lectures are actually enjoyable. tests and assignments are very easy, so if you want an easy A this class is it.
Overall a good class! Was an online course so lectures were prerecorded but came straight from the textbook. No homework so grade relied on tests and projects. The projects took time to complete but she grades very easily
She is very kind and helpful. 4 Exams and 3 Projects were given. Attendance is not mandatory and all of the exams are open note and take home. However, the exams are hard so STUDY before taking them.
Very caring and great listening etiquette! Review her guided notes instead of reading the textbook for homework (20 pgs per chap). Exams are based off the homework but she sometimes gives after-class reviews and Kahoots. Projects every month but you are given a month to complete. She sometimes passes out candy to the whole class!
Honestly, a super cool professor. The work you do in her class is very personal and genuinely gives you the ability to reflect. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
She's so sweet and this class was so easy. Barely any homework.. just a few exams and a project. If you genuinely care about your mental health and stress management, take the class and take her!
She was honestly such a great professor. We had one project the whole year and she broke it up into parts which were our assignments the whole time and they were super easy. We did have three exams and all the information was from our lectures. She is super caring and I would definitely take her again.
She was the best professor I've had. She is extremely sweet and caring. And is accessible outside of class. If you need help she will help you out, without making you feel dumb. I loved her class so much I am excited to get her again this semester.
She provides the textbook for you. This is a stress-free class where you just sit and take notes and learn a lot of interesting topics. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would still show up. One of the easiest classes I've taken and recommend it !
Amazing professor! I would 100% recommend this class. She is fun, caring and is an easy grader. Attendance was not mandatory and quizzes would be taken outside of class and we wouldn't have a lecture that week. All materials are online and she provides the textbook for you! Amazing professor please take her class you won't regret it!
Great Professor, she is very caring and makes herself available to help in need. Test weren't too bad definitely more based on the textbook(FREE) than the lectures. Lectures however were engaging and she's very sweet. Definitely learned a lot and would recommend taking her !
I took her in Spring 2025 and I can definitely say her class is easy-going! Attendance isn't mandatory, but I do believe that you can take away a lot of knowledge from this course, even if you're just taking it as a GE. She will provide the course material, and is easily accessible. Take her if you want to fulfill a GE without stressing!
Genuinely the best professor I've had at CSUF so far. I took PUBH 101 with her and it was such a good class. She made slides and concepts easy to understand and tests reflected what we talked about in classes. You can just tell how much she truly cares about her students and loves teaching. Would 110% recommend taking any class with her.
The class had a study guide, midterm, cumulative final exam, and 1 research project essay in APA format. It felt like having an academic counselor who helped with your major & concentration, TDA, CSUF library research, APA, etc. Homework was easy. She is friendly and very supportive in public health.
