Very intelligent and knowledgeable
She's tough, but she will teach you what you need to know. I am now finishing a business degree in San Diego and she teaches you what you need to know. She's not an ego-teacher, really study for the tests- use the CD if possible
She's a good teacher. She lets you know what the tests will be like if you remember to take notes. Some people complain but they usually forget to write important information down. I would recommend her to anyone.

good teacher, alot of people didn't like the online format, but it worked fine for me. I got A's in bad 1 & 2, and thought the tests were very fair, and relatively easy.
Great teacher. Fair amount of homework and tests, but as long as you do the homework, you'll be good for the tests. Semester project is to play her accounting version of monopoly. Class is fun and very informative about accounting and the corporate world.
This is a very demanding class, don't take it while you are taking econ. The only fun thing in this class is playing monopoly. tests are deadly, peopled passed the class with no problems though. it was very tough for me. but gina is very nice and will answer any of your questions, she knows a lot.
Ms. Lord is very good. Accounting was made understandable, and the monopoly game was a great approach in showing topics in the class very well. She is knowledgeable, amiable, approachable, and helpful. Take her!
This teacher does not respond to questions.
One word: WOW! I hated accounting...never thought it would be understandable or interesting. Take her...much better than the other one.
Gina proves that accounting can be interesting and hard, but also fun. She's very nice and wants to help you. The class is not easy, but you don't have to be a drill sergeant to make people understand accounting. Her style and manner made it great for me to comprehend a tough subject.
Her friendly, easy going approach is nice. Was dreading this class, but learned a ton and proved to myself that accounting doesn't have to be painful to learn it.
I took her regularly & failed. Then retook the class online. It's a lot better because I'm afraid to ask questions, online, you can ask anything you want. Online is better too, there are practice exercises. She's nice though. Online you can go to class at anytime, but stay must consistant.
Don't fool yourself, this class is HARD. But the focus of going to school is learning the most effective way you can, and Gina is it. I learned so much in this class. I had to work, and put my time in, but her approach made it clear and even (dare I say) fun! She's good! I recommend her wholeheartedly to anyone dreading taking accounting.
The material in this class is pretty hard. But Gina teaches it very well. The homework and the project are a easy way to boost your grade. This class requires alot of extra studying and time.
If you have to take Financial Accounting, take it with Lord. She's great and understanding. Her homework assignments can be a bit tough sometimes but she really helps you a lot with it.

I took B.Corteau originally and hated her teaching, and went with Gina Lord the next semester. Gina taught the class very well and made accounting interesting. My only problem was that I worked at a bank and CR and DR are opposite.
The class is hard, but she does a good job of teaching it. You just have to stay on top of her assignments and reading.
Gina was awesome. She was very organized and straight forward. She made everything so easy to understand. I learned a lot and never got stressed out. Compared to Croteau...actually there is no comparison.
This class is very difficult online... she is not involved in the discussions, takes the lectures from the book (as if that would be any easier than just reading the text yourself!), the exams are BRUTAL, but the project is pretty easy & she grades easy on the project. She tries to be helpful, I think, but the class online is VERY tough.
I really like Gina, and i think that she is the most interesting teacher in Business Department. Where else do you get to play Monopoly? DO YOUR HOME WORK!!!
I don't think she was not involved with online discussions at all, in fact she posted at least 7-10 times a day, leading the discussion! I've taken many online classes, and she is the most involved/responsive online teacher I've had. Great class, and learned a ton.
Gina is a great teacher. If you do the homewor, keep up with monopoly, and study for the test you'll do great. The way she presents the material makes it much easier than other teachers. Gina is a really good teacher!
One of the best online classes that I have taken. She's a non-nonsense kind of person. Her tests are hard (and offline) and the group project is a little easier, though working in a group is a bit of a pain at times. As long as you keep up on your reading and bother to do the optional online discussion/exercises you will be ok and learn a lot.
This class hard online. I didn't feel that she prepared us very well for her test. Her test were difficult and the online forum didn't help. I would not take this class online.
Read book and did the online quizzes still did bad. Not worth the time. You play Monopoly which is stupid and then you have to work in a group which you only have a week to get your stuff together if your memebers dont keep up your left trying to make your numbers work before finals week.So you may be on the ball but your group can drag you down
Gina is GREAT. This is not an easy class. I did it online and that made it even harder. The tests are fairly hard, but if you study with a group it is not as bad. She was very helpful and online frequently. If you stick with it and keep up it is not as bad as some have said. Highly recommend her. I just registered for online BAD2 with her again...
This was an online course. I enjoyed it and learned a lot, but A LOT OF PEOPLE DROPPED. The most common reason seemed to be they weren't keeping up with reading the chapters and actually doing the homework. Gina doesn't require you to actually do the homework but gives opportunity to post answers for which you get extra credit.
I took this class online. Its a tough class with lots of material to cover. Make sure you have a good study group to work on this class with because thats what saved our grades. I had an awesome group that i practically lived with because there is so much time needed to dedicate to study for this class! Don't fall behind!!
Horrible. Not meant to be a teacher. Can't explain anything clearly. Test hard are a complete surprise, they have nothing to do with what she covers in class. I never missed a day, did all the homework and did the stupid monopoly project I still didn't pass. She is a nice person in person but is a HORRIBLE TEACHER! Don't take her!
Gina is a nice person but not a good teacher....she skims through lectures a mile a minute...she will NOT help you, she'll tell you to ask your group. When you email her she either wont respond or when she does it's really cut and dry...at the beginning she encourages students to see her in her office, but when you do she's always rushing you out..
Gina is great!! took BAD1 in class BAD2Online got A's in both. Loved her lectures, really made the difference in understanding the material. Read book, study and do homework = test not so bad. I took w my friend, we both got A's Do not screw around and be willing to put in the time (I spent so many hours on that class!!) and you will be fine.
Wow, without a doubt the best teacher I've ever had. She's always around to help, doesn't rush you out of her office, answers her email and supports and encourages all students. I think it's pathetic when students blame teachers when they can't pass the class. Look in the mirror guys, it's not them, it's you. She's a fantatastic teacher!
Good class overall, definatly take the in-class section rather than the online or you will be left behind quickly. If you keep up, the class is still tough but do-able altough you will never want to see a Monopoly board again in your life.
Gina is a nice individual, but she does not go over things that are of importance. Playing monopoly sounds fun. That is untill you spend hours working on statements instead of studying IMPORTANT information.Yes the class is hard, but this is a grading of a teacher not a class. So I give her a C. She can be nice, but sometimes useless and no help...
The material is very hard. And unless you really care about accounting playing monopoly will seem worthless. But it will teach you accounting. It's much better than the text book. Gina has a tendancy to rush but there is a lot of material to cover. If you need help she is really good with answering emails and she will even see you outside of c
Gina Lord is one of the most straightforward, fun, and challenging teachers I've had the priviledge of taking a class with. Her tests are incredibly clear and fair as long as you put the effort in to study. Although homework can be lengthy at times, it's not unexpected for an accounting class. Take her, you absolutely won't regret it.
Accounting is a difficult class no matter who your professor is. Gina Lords makes this class ecceptional when accounting, by nature, is so dry and boring! I would not suggest Accounting with anyone else!!! Make sure you study!!!!
Sometimes nice, but unfortunately shes just not a good teacher. I learned more by reading the book and doing the practice problems than from her BORING lectures.
Well just about the worst teacher in the business department. The class was cake as long as you follow the book, but she never responds to emails and is about a month late returning anything. Take christine not gina.
Homework is an Easy A..Get all credit if you at least try. Tests are not too hard. Enjoyed Accounting, but I would reccomend Barbara Croteau, because now I have her for BAD2, and think she's a WAY better teacher. She's more exciting and seems to have more experience. G. Lord's class seemed like a highschool class. Barbara's class is where it's at!
Not a class for beginning accounting, playing monopoly is a waste of valuable learning tools that are better served in another manner, teacher needs to be more hands-on and explain rather than lecture. When asking for help, she needs to EXPLAIN, not avoid helping students by saying "look in the book". Would not recommend this instructor!!
I took this class online, which was a mistake. I did very well with the homework, but bombed (C's) the tests. No notes are allowed for the tests, and I felt that the questions on the tests were not very clear. I withdrew from the class and plan to take it again.
Keep in mind that accounting is hard but ms. Lord makes it as easy as posible. Had Barbara ( the other accounting teacher) for a week and wasn't happy with her teaching, gets mad if you don't understand the concep. But Ms. Lord is very helpful, definetely take her instead of Barbara.
This professor has ignored all of my attempts to correspond with her so far. I'm having trouble and asking for help but she is not responding to my e-mails.
communicates the material well, is honest about the difficulty without being cocky about it
She is nice and very laid back. Though her lectures are a bit hard to follow due to her rapid and somewhat soft talking so go talk to her if you want your high grade. Tests can be tricky. Make sure that you understand the materials really well. Read the text book and talk to her..she is very helpful.
Gina is awesome! She packs a lot of teaching into such a short semester. It's a lot of work. Pay attention, read the book, ask for help, and study. That's not asking too much...is it?
GINA IS A SKILLED TEACHER MORE THAN CAPABALE OF COMMUNICATING A DIFFICULT SUBJECT. DO THE HOMEWORK, STUDY FOR THE TESTS AND GIVE THE MONPOLY PROJECT AN HONEST EFFORT (THE POINTS WILL COME IN HANDY) AND YOU WILL DO JUST FINE.
Take her only if you learn concept quickly, and willing take time to read textbook. Keep up, especially with monopoly, do online practice quiz from textbook site. Grades based on HW, Monopoly (includes 5min presentation), and 4 Test. Ex credit opportunities & curve tests. Understand concept, do the work and you will be fine.
DONT fall behind. Use publisher's site resources of powerpoint and practice quiz. HW not graded, but help prepare for exam. Grade on 4 test, and group project. So, pick a good group!! Participate online for extra credit, She also curve test. STUDY your butt off to get that A!
If you show the effort, she'll pass you, well for most people. There's no excuse to not do hw since it isn't graded and you can drop one and shell drop one test. She usually lays out what will be on the test. Monopoly is a joke and is a semester long project. Attendance is very important.
There are 4 exams at 8am on Saturdays. Projects: Pick a good group or you'll be aggravated all term. Exams are impossible to be fully prepared for because she doesn't give the appropriate practice tests or study guides. Don't rely on the EC because she decides how much to give based on what grade she wants to give you vs. your actual contribution.
Attendance is key for passing this class, she explains things well (considering the time restraint). Even if you're no good at test taking, you can pass the class with the homework and semester project. I would strongly recommend taking Ms Lord, its the closest I've seen to an interesting accounting class.
Great teacher. I took this class online and she was very good answering emails and responding to questions. Class is difficult, but if you read the notes, try the homework, discuss material with the class, it's not that hard to pass. Tests are challenging, but no surprises. One of the best teachers I've taken at the SRJC. Highly recommend her!
This class was online, and although I have taken many classes online this class is entirely self taught. In my opinion unless u are good at teaching ur self I would not recommend this class. Take this class in person and do not fall behind online, it's to hard to catch up. The communication is bad, in respect to the time she takes to reply.
Gina is really nice, lectures a little fast, but will answer any questions. You get to play Monopoly and then turn it into your groups business for the final project. It is a really fun way to learn accounting, but I recommend taking a BBK class before it. It will make it so much easier to get through.
She is a nice person, but if she didn't spend sooo much time playing her pointless game and actually taught during the class period you might be able to score well on her tests.
She doesnt spend much time talking about the chapters. Tests are hard. She makes students do a project that take up too much time and it doesnt even help your grade.
The worst teacher ever! I took her both in class for BAD 1 and online for BAD 2. I was a 4.0 student until her class! She does not answer questions as she expects your fellow classmates to do her work for her. Her tests are incredibly hard and impossible to finish on time. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
This teac was terrible! She was very unorganized when giving notes. She was no help when I had questions and would typically answer my question with a question! It seemed like she expected us to know a lot of this stuff already when I had no clue. Do Not Take Her!
This is a tough subject. She wants you to do well but you must work hard! No question about it. Attend class and pay attention. Ask questions.
Just finished the class. Good class, but very challenging. Do all of the practice homework, quizzes and anything else you can get your hands on. Exams are hard.Just keep with it. Ms. Lord is very helpful and knows her stuff, but you do not want to get behind. Fun project. Made it more enjoyable and learned more about accounting.
Thought the teaching style forced me to learn which I appreciate. She was there when you needed her but didn't do the work for you!
Gina goes through material way too fast, and gets irritated when you ask questions during class. Fairly nice lady, but an impatient and unclear instructor.
This is a very challenging class. You must keep up with the material and ask questions when you need help. Exams are all multiple choice. You really need to understand everything to do well. There is a lot of material and Mrs. Lord goes through it quickly, so you must read it yourself and do all of the work she suggests or you will get behind!
One of the hardest classes. If you want to get through this one, you need to be prepared for lectures and ask a lot of questions. She doesn't mind answering questions, but don't come to class unprepared. Ms. Lord is helpful and willing to take the time with you if your are doing your work. Do all of the practice homework and quizzes too.
Class was not super tough. As long as you pay attention in class you will pass. She explains very clear and is happy to answer questions or talk to you outside of class to help you out. If you go to class and just pay attention to the lectures you will pass with a good grade. Also class is fun and you get to play monopoly a lot.
Accounting is a difficult subject;you will move through challenging material at a very fast pace. Gina is a great teacher, but she talks fast in class & you should be ready for work. There are practice exams/quizzes and other help to get ready for tests. Go see her when you need help. She wants students to do well.Project is engaging and fun!
I took BAD1 online with Gina and it was way to difficult for me. I am about to finish this semester as an in class student and although the material is very cumbersome Gina is very clear in her lectures. As long as you stay up on your reading and go to all the lectures you should be fine.
Fantastic class! Yes, she moves quickly, but there is a lot of material. If it is too hard than maybe you should not be an accountant. Be prepared to have no social life at the end of the semester though haha
Honestly, she was the worst instructor I have had thus far through college (this is my 4th year). She was not helpful at all and screwed me over in the class. I would not recommend taking her class to anyone. I also wouldn't recommend taking this class online, unless you are very familiar with this topic.
Tough class, but great instructor. She is interesting and tries to make the subject a little fun. If you need extra help,go by and see her during her office hours. She also responds very quickly to email, which I totally appreciate! This is a challenging class because it is a hard subject. However, the instructor clearly wants to help students!
Textbook, Syllabus, Schedule, Exercises, and tests were all great. Teacher doesn't always respond to questions. Have to submit several times and even then sometimes no response. When you receive a response it is sarcastic or in a question although the question asked was specific and detailed. Can't believe this instructor is the Dept Director.
Difficult subject. Demanding & fast-paced. Ms. Lord has set up an organized class and you know what is expected of you. Do the practice exams and practice quizzes.. most helpful. Homework is challenging. Start it early in the week and post your questions. She does answer questions in a thorough & prompt manner. Has been helpful as dept chair too!
You will get out what you put into this course. Ask questions & stay ahead of the material. Great teacher. Good layout of course. Ms. Lord has plenty of work you can do to make sure you know the material. Do it all! Practice stuff/graded assignments. She answers/encourages questions & tries to get students to participate. Recommend course & teacher!
Suggestions to help you pass. The subject matter is intense and difficult to grasp initially. However, the practice problems, practice exams, and group project will help you pass. Take good notes on each chapter and keep these near by during tests. Get organized before the exams as they are timed and challenging. Good Class/helpful instructor!
Worst professor on earth. She refuses to answer questions and tells students to read the useless forum for help. It's honestly a joke that she could be getting paid to "teach" this class. Its all from the textbook and if you hate reading textbooks like every normal human on earth save yourself and get a different teacher.
Took course online...if you are not a self-starter, do NOT sign up. Keep up with reading... KEEP GOOD, COMPLETE NOTES FOR EXAMS. Gina expects you to handle the workload, no excuses, simple as that...much like life. Can put you off personality wise, but didn't seem malicious. Worked my ass off...got an "A" in her Summer online course.
Ms. Lord is unquestionably a great instructor -- knowledgeable and caring. You really need to do the practice quizzes, homework, and ask questions in class. She wants her students to succeed but expects you to do the work. She's a great teacher. One of the best I have had at the JC.
I love accounting, but after taking this class I really want to change my major now. She went through 3 chapters in 2 weeks and didn't give us time to study for the test, unbelievable! Always tell you the exam would look like the practice exam and the practice quizzes, but THEY'RE TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Worst teacher ever!
Great teacher. material is hard though. you need to read everything before class and ask questions. ms. lord really tries to make the class interesting. you just need to put the work into the class and keep up. do all practice quizzes right after each chapter. it will help you get ready for the multiple choice tests. she's great though!
Guys, this class is hard regardless of the instructor. I took it twice and thanks for Ms. Lord passed it this time. She's a great teacher. Tests are hard but she posts a lot of practice quizzes, practice exams, and other practice activities. Trust me, you want to do all of these and if you need help go and see her. She is one of the best I've had
Good course. Hard but worth the effort. Really learned a lot from Mrs. Lord. She is a great instructor! Highly recommend her. She is kind and patient and knows her stuff. She will give you back what you put into the class. I worked hard to earn my grade and she was part of the reason why!
This is a hard class, but she is so fun and wants to engage her students. Do the work, go to class, do the project, and go see her for help. I highly recommend her and had a great time in class. She's a great instructor!
She's awesome but talks fast so you have to listen during lectures and you will be set. She will always help and is quick with email responses. Attendance not mandatory with her but lectures are crucial to pass.
She's a good teacher in the beginning of the semester and then she starts to halfheartedly teach. You are then on your own. My classmates went to her during office hours and her response was, "I'm way to busy to help any of you right now". It might be time for her to teach less classes and actually help her students.
BAD 1 is a difficult class with any professor. I highly recommend taking this class because it is a great learning experience. Gina will give you the tools that you need to succeed, and she is fair to her students. If you attend each class meeting, do the online homework, and study hard for tests, you will be rewarded with a good grade.
Great instructor. Take her for BAD 1. She is caring and makes the subject interesting. She always answers emails and really wants you to succeed. She's one of the best teachers I have taken at the JC. She makes you work for your grade but helps you understand the need to know accounting. Highly recommend her. She's simply the best
The lectures are straightforward, but I got the feeling she was kind of lazy. All the homework is done and graded online through a publishers website, anything you turn into her, she must not check carefully. I had a major error on one assignment that she didn't notice. Tests aren't very reflective of the homework or lectures, but not crazy hard
An overall amazing individual and professor. She understands the position that each of us students are in and for that reason, she is so kind, flexible and understanding. She really wants ALL of her students who put the effort in to pass. 4 tests that are hard, weekly online hw which is fairly easy, 1 group project, and 1 group presentation.
Accounting is a very difficult subject but Gina really wants to help you understand it. You need to put in effort and she will help a lot. She spends time going through the material but you need to read the chapters before class because she goes pretty fast. Contrary to what another student said earlier, she is not lazy at all!! She is excellent
Ms. Lord is a great teacher. Makes you work for your grade but gives you a lot of opportunity to do well. Retake homework multiple times and she takes the highest grade. Practice quizzes and practice exams . these are a must trust me. Likes to make subject fun by playing monopoly in class and teaching you the bookkeeping of accounting!
I loved having Gina as a teacher. Her lectures were clear and easy to follow. You need to participate in class and ask questions if you have them. Monopoly was a great tool to help us understand the different concepts. I wish she was teaching BAD 2 in person this semester.
Ms. Lord is a dedicated and knowledgeable instructor. She is a positive and encouraging teacher and knows that the subject matter of accounting can be very challenging. She has set up an organized online course that requires students to participate and engage in the class. Be sure to take the practice quizzes as they are similar to the exams.
You have a test every 3 chapters--just make sure you understand the homework and do practice quizzes. Two speeches--both with your group--One is on a chapter review and the other is about your monopoly game results. Make sure you go to class on the monopoly days or else other people might take your properties.
Good class but the homework is painful and has nothing to do with the tests.
I thought I wasn't going to be a big fan of her but towards the end she started to make accounting sound easy and very straight forward. I did well in that class and that group project she had helped my grade a lot. That's good that she has the group projects because that prepares us for the workplace.
This class has its challenges but if you stay on top of the homework and make sure you study for the tests you will be fine. There is a group paper that is worth two test grades so this is very important aspect to consider if you are going for a good grade in the class.
Terrific teacher. Had a great experience. Loved the group project. Really helps you to understand the importance and application of accounting. Allows you to do the homework multiple times, posts practice quizzes and practice exams. Be sure to take these. They really prepare you for the test! She's an awesome, knowledgeable instructor!
Gina was a good professor if you are quick to catch on or seek outside help, but was very difficult for newer business students. The homework was fast paced and confusing nothing to do with tests. If you take this class you need to visit her office hours from day 1 if you don't understand something or prepare to fall behind.
Ms. Lord is a great instructor. The class content is for sure very challenging, but she is a terrific teacher. You do need to read the chapters thoroughly but she gives you a lot of extra tools to use to make sure you are understanding accounting. Do all of the practice quizzes over and over. She is the reason I picked accounting as my major!
Dr. Lord is an engaging professor. Her class is organized and doable. She allows extra credit and the group project is a lot of fun and ties into the class content. The homework is challenging too, but she gives you multiple attempts and only takes the highest score. Do the practice quizzes and practice exams, they are very similar to the exams.
This professor may be good in person, but online she is a nightmare. She gives you zero feedback and heavily relies on the $150 online homework/test program. You will receive one e-mail a week with a brief description of the chapter. Don't expect timely replies to your e-mails with questions (or any replies at all).
An invested professor, engaging and wants students to succeed. When I made my interest known in the field she would send me job opportunities and a little coaching :,) Do the practice tests and you'll do fine on the tests. Optional 3 hour test at the end to replace the lowest test grade. Group projects important, Xtra credit opportunities.
Dr. Lord is an excellent professor. I took her class online and it is was organized, informative, and she was clearly there to help. You do need to stay engaged and ask questions. She quickly responds to emails and gives you a lot of ways to learn the material. It is a tough subject, but she is an excellent online instructor!
She really wants you to succeed and one of her methods is by having you play monopoly which is way better than it sounds cause you're learning while playing a game. How many teachers have you had who does the same? It is a challenging course but she helps break down the t-accounts and other parts that certain teachers would not put the effort into
if youre taking this class asynchronously - be prepared to be your own teacher and learn everything strictly from reading the textbook. her office hours are very limited and email only and she wont provide any extra resources such as video or audio examples. be prepared to learn this 100% by yourself.
She does not give feedback or answer questions. You have to teach yourself and it is very hard if you do not already have at least some understanding of accounting. You do homework that the book helps with but then you also take a quiz every week that the homework and pre quiz does not prepare you for.
Took Dr. Lord during distance learning and felt she did a good job of transitioning to online curriculum. All homework, quizzes, and tests are through the textbooks online program. Weekly discussions posts are also required. Fair grader and provides useful notes in addition to textbook information.
This is a class where you have to be your own teacher. Her lecture notes does not offer much clarity, the homework does not reflect on the quizzes and tests at all which makes it more difficult, and her office hours are extremely limited. Be ready to learn this material all on your own.
Very unhelpful instructor. Im not sure if she is any better in person but I can say she is horrible for online learning. Basically you have to be your own teacher by reading the book and using outside sources. The online homework/quizzes she makes you use is very buggy but she doesnt care.
Worst teacher I have ever had. Slow replies to email which for an online class kinda sucks and makes you feel like an annoyance for asking for help on difficult unclear homework.
Took this class during DL. LOVED Prof. Lord. She was super clear about the topics and understood that accounting can be hard. Provided plenty of resources to help us succeed in the class. All of the homework and tests are through the book which is good and bad. Take the practice quizzes and exams and you will do well
This teacher is the epitome of a lazy teacher during the pandemic. Her "class" is composed of homework and quizzes that come with the textbook. You read the chapters then take a very buggy homework and test. She prepares lecture notes, which are basically a summary of the chapter you read. Other than that there is no instruction on her part.
Wonderful professor! Read your chapters, do your homework, there is practice quizzes to prep you ready for your quizzes for every chapter, practice exams also and discussion posts, practice assignments to participate with other classmates. A discussion board where students can ask homework assignment questions for available for all classmates.
Great instructor. Yes, there is a lot of work, and if you take it online, you need to stay engaged. But she is there to help. She gets right back to you with questions and is there to help with anything in the class. Read the slides and her lecture notes. She also has practice quizzes and exams. These are so helpful. I highly recommend her!
Hard class. Good teacher, but you have to do the work and stay up with the assignments. Organized online course. She is there to help but you must use the resources she has given you and reach out to her when you need help. She answers emails quickly and is there to help. I highly recommend her. She seems to really care.
Just finished up summer school class. It was real hard. But I did what the instructor told me to do and used what she said would help to prepare for the quizzes and tests and got through the course. She is good and she does seem to want to help you learn. If you want her to help you, email her. It was a challenging course but I learned a lot.
I took Professor Lord for both BAD 1 and 2, I took her for the second time because I knew how she structured her class and how she grades. I had zero interaction with her in either class, solely online, with no live lectures or recorded lectures. Just you and the book, I used youtube a lot for lectures from other schools since she wouldn't do them.
I just finished up Dr. Lord's accounting class and found that she was very helpful. Her lectures are all posted, she has a lot of activities that allow you to see if you are understanding the material (do the practice quizzes and practice exams) and she is available for help. She will get onto a zoom session and answers email quickly. She's great!
Great instructor. Super organized. Quick to respond to emails and questions. Take advantage of asking her for help. I did and it got me through the class. She was very fast to get back to me. I've had a lot of instructors who do not respond to emails, or take forever to get back to you. Dr. Lord is not one of them. She is a good teacher!
I felt very isolated in this class- lots of textbook reading.. no lectures, no videos, just PowerPoints and lots weekly quizzes and discussions. Basically felt like I had to be my own teacher. I had to look up YouTube videos for most of the chapters since there weren't any actual lectures that I could refer to.
Professor Lord was very accessible/communicative. She has lectures uploaded and practice problems that helped me understand the weekly material. She also provides practice quizzes and exams that were very useful. She responds to emails very quickly. I took advantage of contacting her for help via email a lot & found it her very helpful/supportive
Dr. G is good at what she does. I took her online class. She checks in daily. Posts feedback. Checks email. Will hop onto a zoom sessions to help. She is not intimidating and seems to want you to succeed. I hear she is good in the classroom too. Plays monopoly to help her students learn. Wish I took her on campus.
I didn't know what tags to put since so much of the course is just the textbook. All tests and quizzes are just the textbook company's. There are discussion boards but they don't do anything. Her provided reading materials are copy/pasted from the textbook most of the time. It can be difficult to get help if you need it.
Just finished Ms. Lord's summer class. She structured her course very well, with a ton of resources to use while completing the class. Tests were challenging, but she provided practice tests which helped me a lot. She is very good and responds quickly to emails. Touch material/subject, but excellent instructor. Tries hard to engage students.
Professor Lord's class was very challenging but she is a great teacher. I learned a lot in her class (I'm finishing it up now) and I especially like the monopoly game that she has included in her course to help make the class more meaningful. It is a good amount of work, but accounting can be boring but this game makes it fun. Highly recommend her.
Doesn't provide supplemental videos for her online class, you literally teach yourself through the textbook. Doesn't respond in a timely fashion to questions and seems like she does as much as she can to not have to answer your question. She creates "discussions" for your peers to answer your questions...when your peers are just as confused as you.
This class was structured but you are strictly learning through the world's worst, terrible, and emotionally abusive: $280 McGraw Hill platform. I was in tears almost every week but you will pass this class (feeling lost and frustrated). Absolutely do not take this class from her nor the SRJC. My rec is to go to a different CC and take it online.
Uses McGraw-Hill for homework, quizzes, and exams. I didn't mind but a lot of other people complain about it. Also, be sure to reach out to her first as Gina will help you through and through if you seek her out, but she also has no problem letting you come and go without exchanging a single word. Practice logic questions instead of real-world ones
As an Accounting major, I really enjoyed this class. Dr. Lord gets straight to the point, and introduces chapter content weekly. You definitely need to stay caught-up with the readings, as well as take good notes to do well. Monopoly was a fun class activity. While it isn't an easy class, she's a great professor, who's definitely worth taking. :)
Hard class. Great teacher. Take her in person1
Took this class with Lord twice. I had trouble understanding some concepts and repeatedly asked for help in class and over email. She kept telling me to get peer/group help, so I would, and they would confirm I was doing the work and answering correctly. But somehow, I would be the only one to receive extremely low grades and negative feedback?
I had a great experience in Dr. Lord's class. She is quite helpful. She responds to emails quickly and you can go into her office hour for personal assistance too. I found her class very engaging. She's really good at explaining the material in a way I could understand it. Highly recommend her! One of the best teachers I've ever taken at the JC.
she's good in person but not online.
Thank you Professor Lord for the class. I really enjoyed business administration courses with you.
