She doesn't lecture much. There are a lot of activities, and she give a lot of feedback for revisions. Even though I don't like writing, she made it interesting.

She is funny and helpful. Gives time in class to work on assignments. I would take her again.

Gives you plenty of time in class to do work. The assignments all build towards a large research paper. If you do all of the work leading up to it, the research paper won't overwhelm you.

Extremely nice professor who actually takes the time to learn student's names. She assigns a lot of pointless assignments but as long as you make them 2 pages she gives you full credit. She gives really good feedback and really wants to help her students succeed.

This class was one of the best classes I have ever taken. We read interesting books, and had a lot of activities that helped us to really understand what we were reading. This is a valuable class. I can honestly say I feel like I am a better person after reading and discussing these books.

Ginger is amazing! She's so sweet, caring, and really wants you to enjoy her class. I took her for LIT 229 and though we didn't have any textbooks, we did have to read novels. She's an easy grader and really wants you to enjoy the material you're reading. After we finish a novel, we watch the movie and compare the two. Such a fun class!

In high school getting A's was easy, so when i turned in my first paper that was what I was expecting. Man was i suprised. but i realized that i needed to put in effort and really apply myself I am glad I was pushed, otherwise I wouldn't have even know I cna write as well as I can. Take Prof Alms if you want ot become a better writer.

This is a very interesting and easy class as long as you just keep up with the reading assignments. There aren't any tests or quizzes but there are a few easy group presentations, a few essays, and daily group/class discussions.

Since the carona virus thing Ginger has been having zoom classes. She is available when you need her and you can tell she wants us to make ti thru this semester. she gave me more time on my assignemtns and she checks in regularly. I feel supported when in other classes they jsut post online.

Extremely interesting class. Im not much of a reader or writer but she focuses on getting you think deeper. There really is no right or wrong answer to anything, so her grading is really lenient. Papers are short and books are interesting, I recommend taking this course with professor Alms. She overalls is a funny, sweet lady!

Prof. Alms cares about her students and gave a lot of support during this strange semester. Although her grading can be tough, as long as you follow her rubrics you should be good. She is easily accessible out of class and is willing to help in any way she can. She was also very fun to talk to. Would take her again if I could.

I took Novel and Film with Ginger and she is the sweetest lady ever. I wish I had her for an in person class. We read books then watched the movies and had discussions on them. It was fun, easy and I actually learned stuff.

I had Ms. Alms in an online class this summer, and I had a great experience! We did read two novels, so you have to set time aside to read, but I was able to knock out the week's reading in one night. I also missed three zooms because I was on vacation and she was super understanding! I would highly highly recommend this teacher :)

In Lit class, you have to read a lot for a short time, so I would recommend breaking all pages to a certain amount to read per day to finish books on time. Audiobooks helped to speed up the process. Also, it's not necessary, but it's helpful to keep all books until the end of the semester. During the class, we'd discuss what we've read.

Professor Alms is very thoughtful of everyone and she makes the assignments clearly and easy to understand, and even makes personal meeting times for the students who need more help which helped me out a lot to improve my grades and stay on track during the whole semester.

I took International Lit with Professor Alms, and she is great. The class is pretty easy; a lot of it is just reading. For some reason, we had a lot more in-class assignments and homework at the beginning of the sem. but it died out. Lots of ted talks and in-class discussions. Also, try to get the books in advance, the library has one copy each.

The sweetest professor I've ever had! Participate in class discussions, it makes her classes more fun. She's very understanding, and clearly loves what she does. We do read a lot, but she gives plenty of time. She made the class fun. She does use a lot of videos in her lectures, but they are enjoyable/helpful. TAKE HER!!

So kind, really cared about making class enjoyable. I got along really well with classmates because of the positive environment she brought. Only thing is that I wish this class had been a little more challenging/constructive, felt too easy sometimes.

Love Professor Alms! Listening guides, discussion posts, and projects are the only assignments. Very manageable, but get ready to read. There are three books that you have to read. The pace goes fast, so make sure you are keeping up. Must respond to three people per discussion post. Suggestion: get listening guides done first, then do discussions.

Professor Alms creates a warm, welcoming and safe space for all students. She exposes us to new ideas and different perspectives by having us read literature and have discussions that open our minds. Some weeks I struggled to read 100-110 pages/week, but it was manageable. She is a very kind, honest, and patient proffesor. I am glad I took her class.

I took Alms lit class expecting a boring analysis off books but I was very wrong. This is the first englihs class I've enjoyed. This class was fun with an amazing teacher! I will be signing up for more of her classes.

I enjoyed this class and this teacher to a high degree. Prof Alms is passionate about her classes, and you can see the effort she puts forth. I will not forget what I learned in this class about different cultures and perspectives. It was an eye-opener.

Professor Alms is caring and lenient in grading, but her lectures are repetitive, focusing too much on basic grammar you likely already know. Because of this, I recommend taking her class online. She also assigns a heavy workload, and her minimum essay lengths feel excessive for an ENG-101 course.
