Fisher is amazing! Super helpful with any questions you may have. Great senese of humor and she makes class interesting and fun! Definitely try to get her for BIO101 if you want an easy class. You learn a lot though and HAVE TO STUDY. But otherwise she makes it so easy.
Does not take attendance, but you have to go to class because she says a lot of things that aren't on the slides. She rushes through lectures, and makes it hard to understand. Tests are VERY difficult, lots of studying; They also cover a lot of information. She does use humor. She's not mean, but seems unapproachable. I feel like I can't go to her
Very hard to approach. She is not very understanding. Will not let you take tests early..even for excused reasons. Rushes through lecture. Tests don't match material learned. Use the book to study.
She is a really good teacher!!! She knows what she is talking about and explains things really well. She is also is very organized which is nice. You definitely have to study for her class but you will learn a lot.
The class is easy as long as you take notes, study often, and go to the lab.
She is a great teacher! She is funny and makes the topics very interesting. You must go to class to do well because she gives additional info for the slides. She is very nice during office hours. The material is hard at times. If you study a little and go to class you will do fine. Highly recommend her though!
Good professor. Moves very fast through lecture but all tests come from her power point slides. Never used the textbook and still got an A. Knows what she is talking about and will stop to clarify anything.
Easy class, she is very good at explaining concepts, although she does rush, it's hard to keep up with notes.
very good with examples, extremely interested in the subject matter, helpful
Her powerpoint notes are very explanatory, but going to class was helpful to take additional notes on things that she explained in greater detail. She has a good sense of humor. She loves biology, which makes her class enjoyable. Also, her lectures are not monotone (which is really nice!!)
She is really funny and definitely and interesting teacher. She doesn't go in to depth, and usually just reads the powerpoints, you will lear a lot...but not too much.
Loved her odd sense of humor but she goes really fast so it gets a little stressful keeping up with her sometimes
she's super interested in how people learn, but the material can be tricky, hard tests but she's a good teacher. Go to class and ask questions.
She's very funny but will call you out if you are talking or texting. Try not to take this class early in the morning because then it's hard to get motivated to attend. The class is hard, you need to go every class and go over her power points on your own. Hard tests, but questions usually come from slides.
Be prepared this class is difficult! Go to tutoring!Print out the ppt's and take notes on those bc she tests from what she teaches in class. She's a great lecturer, but also helpful on an individual basis. She doesn't curve individual tests but rather the final grade at the end. Mine went up quite a few percentages! Class av.on tests:63% HARDTESTS
Dr. Ging was a great teacher that has a good sense of humor and is willing to put up with craziness. If you pay attention during class you shouldn't do too bad. I never read the book and I got an A in the class, so all the tests were from her ppt's. Definitely print out the ppt's and take notes of what she says on them. Take it. Delish.
Fisher has a great sense of humor and engages the class well. She also will answer questions thoroughly, especially in office hours. However, her tests are difficult and studying is a must. I suggest printing notes and adding details. Overall, I enjoyed the class and I'd recommend taking her classes. Good Luck!
For me, this course was tougher than Bio 245. Fisher was a good professor. Great sense of humor and seems approachable. Her lectures are very vague though so I had to depend on the text to clear things up. Her tests were also a bit hard. Overall I would recommend, but be wary if you aren't confident in your biology knowledge.
Dr. Fisher is very clear and consistent in her teaching. She tells you exactly what will be on the test and how to study. If you don't do the homework, you will fail.
An incredibly clear and helpful teacher. Tests are hard but in a reasonable fashion- if you pay attention in class and study you'll do fine.
Dr. Fisher is a very genuine professor and wants students to succeed. She is very clear as to what her expectations are and what are on the tests. You do have to actually study for the tests. She is an overall great professor.
If you enjoy being extremely confused and feeling like an idiot, this class is for you! Hard and extremely confusing....
If you enjoy being extremely confused this class is for you! Hard and confusing, so glad it is almost over
This class was VERY difficult if your going to take Bio 110 I suggest to do it in a smaller class.
This class was super difficult to get used to- especially right out of highschool. So much content is covered SO FAST, and it suchs being in a room with over 100 students. Tests were hard- but if you studied her PPTs well, you;ll do fine. She is passionate- and I appreciate that. But lectures were hard to get through
Dr. Fisher is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable about the content. She's a marine biologist so nearly everything tied back to the ocean somehow. If you go over the powerpoints, read the textbook, and do the homework, you'll do just fine.
Dr. Fisher is a wonderful professor who definitely knows her stuff. Although she is a marine biologist, she is a wonderful biology professor. I highly recommend taking this class if you need that lab based science course.
Dr. Fisher was my favorite professor! She is super helpful. Go over your notes everyday and you should be okay!!:) And go in and talk to her. She'll go over all of your tests with you and she really helped me understand the material.
Ginger Fisher is a really fun and interactive teacher. She makes going to bio fun and she's full of knowledge. She makes a lot of jokes which, can lighten up the mood in the lecture. If you have a chance, get Fisher for a class!
She is obviously super super educated in her department and very passionate. It's not really that she's a bad teacher, it's just a very difficult class. I have an A in the class but I study my ass off for every test. Start studying the week you start learning the material and MAKE FLASH CARDS.
She is a great teacher and is obviously highly educated. The material is really hard so it makes the class harder and a lot more confusing. She kind of expects you to know everything, and goes really fast a lot. You have to study A LOT outside of the classroom to get As on the test. She isn't awful but she isn't amazing. Pretty average.
Dr. Fisher is a very enthusiastic lecturer! Her tests require HOURS of studying for but there are only 3 plus the final! But if you just study her slides from the lecture and really work to know the material, you can get an A! Lots of studying required, GREAT professor though!! Very approachable and clear!
Her class is not easy you HAVE to go to class to understand any of the exams. And use the study guides she posts because they are very helpful. Memorization is your best friend
If you are really interested in biology, or are a biologynursing major, you will probably really like Ginger. However, for non-majors, you might find her class to be quite difficult. Attend class as often as you can; she has daily clicker questions that count for extra credit. Tests consist of lecture material only, the textbook is not needed.
Her lectures are funny, which are a godsend when you're taking this class to fulfill a requirement. Her tests are very difficult, and require quite a bit of studying. If you show up to class, and do clicker questions, they count for extra credit towards your final. Homework is easy, but takes some time.
She is funny, and she helps to remember the material by telling stories.
Really great professor. Funny, dedicated, and extremely intelligent. It is true that her class is tough and that it takes a lot of work to do well, but I got an A and anyone else can if they work hard. What is on the tests is always on the power-points. They are all you need to study in my opinion.
Dr. Fisher is one of the best professors I've ever had. She has been so supportive of my choice to switch my major to Biology, and her class initiated that. She's an amazing person. She's always there and always happy and ready to teach. She is seriously amazing. You do have to work for a good grade, though, and the lab is pretty tough.
Dr. Fisher is a great professor. She teaches some concepts that can be pretty tough to learn. She uses great examples/stories and does a good job of connecting the class to our lives outside of school. The homework is 1 assignment per week. Usually 60 questions from the online text. No quizzes. Tests are pretty hard.
Love Dr. Fisher. She is passionate about the lecture and wants you to do well. She is very open to helping you and tried to make herself as available as possible.
Dr. Fisher is a good professor. She likes science, and that makes it easier to understand. She wants you to pass, and will try to make herself available for you. She has weekly homework that can help your grade. Her exams can be brutal, so be prepared to study. She does offer extra credit. She has an easy to understand syllabus.
Dr. Fisher is an AMAZING professor! She is very knowledgeable and passionate. Her notes are all posted online and they are easy to understand. She talks very fast and gives a lot of examples with her lectures. She expects you to know her notes to do well on the exam. There are several in-class group case studies. Participation is required here
Bio is not my things but she made it easier. She did explain things very well! Also the clicker questions are incentive to come to class. She askes about 5 each class and everyone you answer will be extra credit on the final.
I loved taking her classes and I wish I could take them the rest of the way! I loved going to class she made it an amazing atmosphere and made funny jokes. I love case study's and she is so helpful with them. Clicker questions are a must so go to class! Study hard and you will do well! I recommend her completely!
Very good at what see does. Just really need to study for tests.
Very specific and responds to questions well. Very helpful during office hours
Actually said humans have gills! Was she thinking of Haeckels fabricated embryos. Some assertions lacked support. Dislikes Darwin-critics, Christians, and opinions on evolution different from hers. Friendly one-on-one, seems to genuinely like students. Class is large, some drop out, so if you dont get in at first, check back in a week or two.
A fantastic prof.
she's very horrible. goes through the lecture too fast for no reason as if she got other stuff going on and her exams don't even match what goes with the lecture and over half of the class fails exams because of that. so beware of her especially for the nursing students because she will fail you on purpose.
Dr. Fisher was by far the best professor I've had so far. She puts difficult concepts into every day analogies and makes sure you understand and succeed. She literally got a standing ovation her last lecture. The test follow the material greatly. By far the most genuine teacher ever. Really knows her stuff.
Content is difficult and lectures move fast but she explains everything clearly and is very helpful in office hours.
Dr. Fisher is amazing! First off, this is a tough class for most freshman, but if you do the reading and print off the powerpoint slide before class and look them over, you will be very prepared. She's an awesome person, and wants her students to succeed, but you have to work for it.
Clicker questions for extra credit. Respect her and she'll help a ton.
Dr. Fischer is absolutely brilliant in Biology. Her slides are well done and really what you need to study for the exams. Exams are reasonably tough but if you study hard you'll be okay. She is hilarious in class and is always willing to help during office hours.
Amazing teacher! She is so good at teaching Bio, the material is hard as it should be, but if you take time to actually learn what is being taught you will pass.
Super funny professor - but tough material, as it should be. If you study (lots!) and go to lecture, you will do well. The hard thing is it's not just memorization - the tests makes you apply concepts, so make sure you really understand the material.
Goes off topic, doesn't quiet down the class when people talk.
Dr. Fisher is an amazing professor! Her lectures and powerpoints go over everything that is on the tests and she makes sure that you understand the material. Tests are all multiple choice and are difficult, but are easy if you study. Clicker questions are extra credit for the final. Definitely recommend her as a professor!
Absolutely AMAZING! Dr. Fisher was such a pleasure to have. Class is easy if you study your butt off. She is so helpful and so kind. I would take her again if I could.
Dr. Fisher is easily approachable, funny, caring, and respected. She really takes the time to ensure that every student is understanding the material by incorporating real life scenarios and always focuses on why we should care about the material. Absolutely loved this class, highly recommend!
Dr. Fisher is one of the most, if not THE most amazing teacher I've ever had. BIO 110 is a pretty basic class so it can get boring but she does a great job of keeping the class engaged because she is hilarious. But, as joking as she is, she is intelligent and respected and respects her students as well. I wish she taught more courses I take.
Awesome professor, great lectures, and helpful during office hours. Posts lectures and study guides for the entire semester on day 1. Also a quick grader!
Definitely one of the best professors I've had! She is very knowledgeable and has great lectures! She is willing to help you if you ask. She is very prepared and has the semester outlined on the first day. Case studies are really helpful. She does a great job engaging such a big lecture.
Professor Fisher lectures every single day and includes "clicker" participation with every lecture, along with a "lab" day in class to apply all of your new knowledge to real life situations. There is a lot of homework in the class but it helps for the tests a lot. It's a hard class but she is the professor to take the class with!
I loved Ginger Fisher! She is so freaking hilarious sometimes. She does case studies which are really really helpful and help you understand the material even better. Just make sure to study way ahead of time (i'm talking every week) so that you don't get behind. The only downside was the lab bc those damn copepods ruined my life.
Wonderful experience for a freshman, really lightened the mood for the whole new college thing. She is an exceptional teacher and makes lectures fun.
Great teacher but if you don't go to class you will not pass the class even though Attendence isn't mandatory. Hard test that will throw you off guard, she does drop one test every semester though so that helps you grade a lot. Required clicker questions that will count as points toward your final grade.
Great teacher! She may move a little quickly but the clicker questions help with your understanding and with your grade. Case studies happen about once a week which are based on the material you have been learning and will be on your tests.
Although she does not take attendance it definitely help to go to lectures She goes off of the power points that she posts but goes much further in depth and offers extra credit with clicker questions that you can only answer from inside the lecture hall. She has a great sense of humor and obviously knows what she's talking about. Loved her !
She moves fast but she makes everything clear and concise. You have to keep up though because she wont go back, she has a ton of students so her time is spread thin. The class is hard but she makes everything you need to know clear. The amount of work you put is the grade you get out.
Dr. Fisher is amazing; she knows what she is teaching and is clearly excited about it. She blows through material quickly; do not expect to take notes on everything she says. Make sure you do your reading and homework to be ready for class.
Ginger Fisher is not personal with her students but it is hard to be when you have 250 kids per lecture. She does an outstanding job of making sure that what she talking about makes sense and can be related to by everyone.
An amazing professor!
Dr. Ginger Fisher is the best teacher I've ever had, period. She's absolutely phenominal. Her lectures are very big & although she moves fairly quickly, she posts the notes so you can catch up. She explains the info very well & makes coming to class fun. Very funny & a good person. The tests are difficult, but I mean it's bio so whatta ya expect?
Ginger Fisher is a great professor and i would highly recommend her! She makes the content of biology so much more entertaining and really makes studying and doing well on the tests so much better!
I looove Dr. Fisher!! I personally found this class extremely difficult but that's only b/c it's EXTREMELY fast paced. Ginger is hilarious & makes everyone laugh every lecture. She does her very best to help everyone understand the material & clicker questions & weekly case studies are helpful. If u have to take this class, take it with her!!!!!!!
I adore Ginger! I was so nervous about taking this class but she made the transition to college go great for me! Not only did she teach me the things I needed to know for bio, but she also taught me how to properly study and communicate with professors. Her classes have a large amount of students, but she does an excellent job at lectures.
Ginger is a great professor, but has some flaws. She speaks really fast, and is aware of that but does not seem to care about trying to work on it.
I would say this was the hardest class that I have ever taken, Professor Fisher is a really passionate teacher about Bio, but was a hard class without a prior background into Bio. The class is extremely fast past covering 16 Chapters in a semester, and the tests and the lab making up the grade. You do get extra credit through the clickers.
Not a tough class if you read/attend lecture. She talks way too fast and acts like this class is below her. She is approachable during class but during office hours she rushes through explaining. As a pre-health advisor she is HORRIBLE! Not helpful for getting shadowing connections/very negative about health care when discussing with her.
She's a great professor and very relatable. Tells lots of personal stories but usually connects them back. Lots of in class assignments at random so if you regularly skip class you'll lose a lot of points. Study hard for the tests. Super approachable and friendly! Take the lab - so so worth it!!! Doesn't accept late work. Very smart and funny
This class was set up very nicely, I would make sure that you make sure when the homework are due. They're always due before the class period starts not at midnight that day. I would defiantly make sure that you get a good grade in your Bio Lab because the lab is 25% of your biology grade so if your not doing well in the class that will help you.
Dr Fisher is truly an amazing professor, she is always accessible outside of class and always gives lots It study tips that are helpful for the tests. There is a lot of content covered so make sure you understand the content as It is being covered, work for your grade and youll be happy!
For only a one hour class, the amount of work expected for this class is insane. Much of the work required is busy work that will never help get you into professional school. If you do it all, it is an easy A but still requires too much time when considering the course load you have to take for the program, DAT/MCAT prep, and application prep.
She is very condescending and unprofessional. I would recommend taking the class with someone else.
It is easy to get a good grade as long as you study, but I would recommend if you want to learn in a professional environment do not take this class
Shes a good professor! 100% recommend
Took bio 110 online during COVID. Everything had a set due date and all due dates were given on the first day of class. The only thing is the tests are only open for one day. Other than that pretty easy class if you put in a bit of effort.
She was understanding and fair, and her course content was presented well.
Definitely the best professor Ive had so far!
Love Dr. Fisher!
She is one of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of having. She makes class so enjoyable and offers extra credit by answering questions in class. She is very passionate about what she teaches so it makes the lectures easy to follow along to. Homework is graded on completion. Overall this is one of my favorite classes I have ever taken
Dr. Fisher is a caring professor as she is always open to help her students out. She is funny and her lectures may be content heavy as it is a bio class, but they are fun and structured well. I like that she is very organized and has clear expectations. Attend class as it will help with your learning and study for the exams !!! It was my fav class.
Ginger is amazing to take for any kind of biology class. Lectures are very information-heavy so be prepared to take notes and study them for exams. She wants her students to pass so she has office hours and offers SI tutoring to help students pass. I had to take her class online and still learned so much from her, definitely recommend it.
Made learning bio easy and fun. Amazing teacher.
