Great teacher! I learned so much Italian in he's two classes! By the end of Italian 2 my friend and I were passing notes in Italian. Two years later I can still speak some! Do the work and you'll be fine. Remember your nouns and verbs!

I had a wonderful experience taking him for Ital 3 & 4. We read short stories and write summaries about them. We get to present it in front of the class. He taught a lot of grammar like subjunctive, conditional, past perfect and past imperfect. In every test, we write summary of one of the stories we read. Grades fair.

Great teacher, really fair grader, and very patient. Anything you do not understand he will take the time to go over the material. Always available to help and he always has a kind word for his students. Do yourself a favor and take him!

He is my favorite professor at LAVC. He really wants you to grasp the information. He is patient, fair and kind. I took both Italian 1 and 2 and they were equally wonderful. The pace is very good- not too much at once. It was a very step by step process to success. If you thought you couldn't learn language, try his class and change your mind!

One of the best professors I've ever had. He is always helpful and will explain anything if you ask. Attendance is required or you'll get lost, because he teaches something new every class. And he hates it when people talk during class! So I suggest you avoid doing so if you take him.

He is a great professor. He helps you when you need it. He goes over what will be on the quizzes and tests. You have to come to class because there is new material cover every class. Because of that, I am really learning Italian. Do the homework, ask questions, and study and you will pass the class. I will be taking him all the way to Italian 5.

Great professor, his format of teaching the class is interesting, entertaining & helpful. If a student is having trouble he won't move on until the student gets the subject. You really have to put your part into your work in order for him to care and for you to pass. Overall great professor, would take again!

Answers all questions & explains the answers. Expect to buy 2 books & use them for some of your homework, they are not very expensive. Would take again!

I've just started the semester with him, but so far he's a great teacher! I just wanted to make clear of something here in which other reviews lack... He goes around the room and asks each student to repeat the Italian word. He also goes really fast as we have learned numbers and the alphabet in a matter of 2 days. But love him tho he's funny

Hands down the best professor at LAVC. Need a foreign lang? Take him. I took him for Italian 1 and currently Italian 2. There's online labs (easy) and his tests are easy as long as you show up everyday and participate and honestly just try. He's understanding and goes with the pace of every student in class. His tests are basic fill in the blanks.

2 semesters Italian w Prof Trombetta, late 80s to early 90s @LAVC. After finishing @UCLA , Prof Trombetta remained right there at the top of my favorite instructors. He's very focused on teaching - a quintessential professor. Kind, intelligent, cheerful & socially engaging. Brought in pizza on last day of class:) I will never forget him.

I had Professor Trombetta for all five Italian classes, and he is consistent with his material. He is very patient and very clear in his expectations. The classwork is the homework and what is on the test. If you attend all of his classes, then you will actively be reviewing. He really helped me be confident in speaking in front of other.

I took Prof Trombetta for Italian 1 and 2. However, do to life I had to drop out from 2. But, he knew I was struggling in my life. He knew that it was affecting my school life. Giovanni is the best professor I have ever had. When you go in for help during his office hours, he shows up at the right time and goes to put his stuff down and comes over to help you right away. Hes the funniest professor and great to all of his students. Everyone loves him. I want him for all my Italian courses!! You will learn if you go.

One of my favorite professors! Prof Trombetta was not only smart, but especially kind. Obviously he cared about his students, and thats why he was and still is exceptional above all, hes a deeply good person. (I took Italian in early 90s at LAVC.) And yes, he ordered pizza for the class on our final day.

Trombetta did an amazing job keeping the class afloat when everything was moved online to Zoom. For someone who has never taught an online course before, he really jumped into the online format well and kept the class alive and moving. I learned a lot from his approach. He explains how to use verb tenses in a way that most can understand.
