Not a good teacher at all. Smart man, but he just cannot teach the material well. Says Agreed too many times.
worst teacher on the planet
Can't teach at all.
Very intelligent man, but should be a Mathematician NOT a Professor. Extremely poor teaching style.
he does know the concepts very well but has a hard time communicating them. Agreed? Agreed also gotta love the sexy sandals. Agreed? Agreed. :-)
Agreed -- had him for two classes..........did very poorly although my 3.0 overall GPA. It is agreed that he can not teach, but TAS does not have any better STAFF ...Agreed????
He was willing to help, people just have to ask. All these grumpy people are just dumb and wouldn't pass this class no matter who was teaching it.
You guys have no idea how helpful and easy he is compared to some of the TAS Math professor of the past!!! Ask someone about Jack Roth.
I thought Viglinos class was funny, he knows his stuff,he does have trouble getting his point across. My only complaint--His tests are impossible!! The quizes would be simple, then he killed you with the tests.
Yikes. I failed. That must have been because I was mesmorized by his toenails and kneecaps.
calculus is hard
This guy cannot teach. I never learn anything while attending class. Very unclear. He is so far my worst prof. I have never gotten a grade lower than an A- for a math class until i took him. Do not take him.
he sucks
he is a horrible teacher. nice guy but he gets lost in the middle of his examples. how can you know what hes doing when he doesnt even know. his quizes are easy, tests are impossible... do not take him
Very unclear professor. Makes many mathematical errors. Most people drop him, because most will fail. Bad teacher.
Great person.unfortuanetly he forgets that we are in the class to learn.Expects u to know the subject perfectly and every class u have either a quiz(easy)or a test(impossible)no time to teach.. ghetto text book by him and most of all BORING. but great guy
I've never failed a class before. I think that is about to change. The way Dr. Viglino teaches is very unclear, agreed?
agreed lol
It was a 2hr45 naptime twice a week. I did not learn a thing in this class. I had to teach myself and look back on notes from high school. He's a nice man, but he can not teach. The only reason I'm passing is b/c I had the class before.
awful

He is not clear at all. If you are in his class, you have to teach yourself. But he is a nice person, available for help even when not really helping. He's fair at grading, but his homeworks are almost impossible. If you are not a genious, don't take him.
okay... homework: impossible... cant say much else cuz ive been to one class..... counted the number of times he said "agreed" 70 times within an hour and 15 min, agreed? AGREED!!!
he DOES NOT teach;cant explain concepts;tutoring wont even help;he does 1 problem after another and when he gets lost in the calculations he tells us that the answer doesnt matter! text-(his own work) is very unclear! difficult h.w.; impossible tests.
I honestly can not stand his teaching. He is AWFUL!! He cant do a problem without messing up. You learn nothing and gives impossible tests with easy quizzes. Do not take his class unless u have to. If you do, teach yourself.
he's very nice and he means well, but it's one of those classes you end up having to teach yourself so i don't recommend him
The class in general is very hard. He knows his stuff, but he goes too fast and thinks everyone knows the material, when most of the students don't. It's very hard to get a straight answer from him when you ask it in class.
Nice guy on campus but...cannot teach...do not take him...the ones who do well in his class, either know the stuff already or are teaching themselves. A Mathematician trying to teach.
Funny and strange at times and a nice personality, however absolutely no teaching ability what so ever. Terrible tests with faily easy tests. Tell crazy stories and weird examples though.
Agreed?
He has difficulty explaining what he is trying to teach us. He gives really easy quizes and impossible tests.
he's not thaaaaat bad... just the course itself is hard. if you do the homework you'll pass (unless you are really useless at math)
yeah i agree with you, only those who have learned some stuff can handle it, but if youre totally naive, dont take him yet! teach yourself then take him. hes really just there. fairly easy quizzes, almost impossible tests, fairly easy final. teach yourself
A nice guy but the WORST math professor I have EVER had! You start out linear algebra thinking this is easy. By 3rd week, you get to vectors, and then it's all downhill. His book is VERY BAD! His teaching is even WORSE! DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
really tough, if you dont do well in math do not take him - you will definitely fail. If you have no choice, the only thing that will save you is having study groups but it is alot of work. hw is graded
anytime i see him on campus, he freaks me out. hes class was hard and he knows it. now its either precalc 1 or 2. they should have done tha t the first instead of dropping nearly te whole class or giving them fs. now they say they were not smart. leave!!!
hard as hell..DO NOT TAKE HIM
a really nice guy...does the best he can w/ the material...if u dont get it he'll try to explain it better...i dont suggest his class if u suck at math, but if ur decent its not bad...there r some tough parts, but then again there r some really easy parts
RUN !!! HORRIBLE !! MOVES TOO FAST !! RUNNN
Nice guy, better than Berger, but tests are impossible!!!! Long ass class on Wednesday for 4 hours. If you have the choice, don't take precalculus. But if you must, take viglino instead of Berger!!!
i love gio! his accent is a little confusing and kinda boring...he said agree over 100 times once during a class..yes i counted. but very nice guy.
toughest math class ever.. he wrote his own text book.. so if you don't understand him in class.. not much luck understanding his book either.. however, he's a sweet guy and he means well.. I have him for two more semesters.. so i'm hoping i'll learn to understand him better soon!
i love gio! he is great, hard to understand but is such a great person!! if you pay attention and work with him then you can learn, you cant screw around but thats normal in any classroom.. he's great! i looove him!!
Let me tell you, when this guy talks nobody really understand what he says. if you are very good at math, take him, if not dont even try, you will failed his class like i did.
He is a wonderful man who really tries hard. I had a really small class and I found he really grew close to us and really helped us a lot. Take Gio!
I loved Gio, but he is the worst teacher. His socks and sandals, his shorts in the snow, his accent, him riding his bike...what a crazy man! unless your stuck, dont take him, esp for upper level classes.
Such a nice guy and really cares about the students! You can barely notice his accent. Fun class, makes you laugh. Quizzes, 2 tests and a final.
A very nice man, and quite funny. But the class itself is hard and he can be difficult to understand at times. Tests are hard...quizzes at every class (which helps your grade) but unless you have taken probability, statistics and calc before, this class isnt easy.
This man is sooo confusing. He's not like a bad person, but unless you can totally teach urself...ur gonna fail.
He is hard to listen to, Enjoys talking down to the students and shows who his favorites are. If you want to pass any of your math classes STAY AWAY from this loon!
Great guy, hard course. He is sometimes unclear, but is willing to explain it over and over. One problem might take more time to solve than yout entire 1:40 class. His study sessions saved my ass.
I had a real rough time with him. I think that he was taught a different way than how we are used to being taught, which is why I did not do well. However he did give opportunity to pass the course with dropping classes.
Horrible! Explanations, lectures, HW, reviews, etc. are just horrible. Spent 14 weeks studying more than 10-15 hours a week, 3x in the Math Center and still took an incomplete with him, couldn't pass. He sux! Can't teach, no help in his office hours, Sln. Manual is a waste of $$. Save yourself, Don't Take Him No Matter What The Other Reviews Say!!
Very very hard course. Gio is a nice, funny guy, but very unclear in teaching his course. The DVDs he offers help, but it is still a hard course.
his class is very hard because she doesnt know how to teach...only take him if you are willing to study very hard or have taken calc in hs...i got an a but i went to tutoring and studied a lot...not worth it for a 100 level course
He is NOT as hard as the other users make him out to be. He is a tough grader, but he will give you more points if you can argue your case. He drops/replaces grades, so as long as you do well overall, you'll get a good grade. In a math course, if you're doing poorly, it's probably your own fault. Sorry.
CALC I - i took this course in the summer. DONT EVER DO THIS! Its way to hard to learn in such a short time (esp cuz i didnt take precalc). He is very fair and helpful. I passed because he took the time to help me out and go over material. Quiz every class. Drops 2 lowest quizzes. I would take him again - but not in a summer semester.
He is a good professor who goes over every problem you ask him to. Weekly quizzes are exactly like the homework problems and exams are directly based off of the review sheet. Not a difficult class, I would definitely reccomend him.
Viglino was good...says Agreed alot...if you pay attention in class and at least attempt some of the homework you'll do fine! It really isn't as hard as people believe, Math W/ Apps that is. I barely payed attention and I aced every quiz and the midterm. He gives homework but doesn't check it, two exams (one's the midterm) and one common final.
had him for discrete structures... real nice guy and all but he'd do problems on the board for hours and get stuck. definately not math professor material, typical of the ramapo math department. he even admitted that ramapo had a terrible math program and that he was not very good at this math subject. you'll learn from the book if you take him.
Hes a nice person, but not a good prof. The text he uses is filled with errors, and he repeatedly made mistakes in lecture. Students regularly corrected him. Quiz each class (easy), a prob exam (harder) and calc exam (also hard), then a common comprehensive final with some tough problems. He drops 3 quizzes. Liked him as a person, not as a prof.
Quiz each class, drops the lowest 3. Midterm and a common final. Quizzes are easy, then the exams are tougher. Hes nice but has trouble explaining certain topics. Hes available during office hours and does his best to help. The text was below average (had errors in it), but his DVDs were extremely helpful. Buy them if weak in the course material.
GREAT TEACHER!!!! Great personality!!! He will do his best to help you so don't be afraid to ask questions. Also when other professors can not be found he tends to stay on campus (good if you want extra help). Attendance is no mandatory, However SHOW UP....missing one class or two can leave you confused.
Professor V, is a great professor who cares about his students. He is a genius and should be respected
learned a lot from him!he sometimes gets confused but he's a cute old man. he wants you to succeed and will explain it until you understand. even if you do poorly on your midterm and as long as it looks like you improved on the final, the bad grade won't affect you as much! pretty much failed on one of the midterms and somehow got an A in the end?!
if you're any good at math...this class is a piece of cake. Even if you're not so good at math, he basically tells you what problems will be on the quizes, so just really learn them before class and you'll be fine. Kids still failed, idk how but they did.
He's alright. Confuses himself sometimes, but hes a cute old guy. Quiz every class, but drops the lowest 3. Tests are alright.
From the Classes I've taken with Viglino I've learned quite a bit. Unfortunately I had to teach myself the majority of it because he is incapable of doing that himself. If you enjoy long nights of studying your book trying to figure out how he does it in class then take him. He is also very boring so beware. Linear with him is impossible.
Linear with Viglino = IMPOSSIBLE. unfortunately it's a requirement. probably 90% of the class had a 40 average for the semester...if you can avoid taking him for this class...do it!
Avoid at all costs! Had this guy for 3 classes and even went for extra help and still did not do well. Very confusing...messes up proofs alot. Linear = impossible.
This professor is the reason I am not a math major. He may know what he is talking about, but when it comes to actually TEACHING us it, he is horrible. You will learn more by not going to class than by going, because he confuses himself when he teaches. Not to mention the numerous issues with his book. If you have the option, DO NOT TAKE HIM.
Wish I had more room. What a nice man but a HORRIBLE teacher. He really is a genius but he can't teach from his own textbook. He tried so hard but couldn't do it! 22 out of 25 left class clueless and extra help had over a dozen students. Test averages fell in the mid 40's. The final was my grade and luckily i did ok. Avoid Linear Algebra with him!!
Nicest man ever. Confuses himself with his own examples but tries really hard to help. Go to him for help and show him that you're trying and he wont give you an F.
Horrible teacher. He cannot explain anything and has one or two question quizzes every class that weigh your grade down if you make one mistake. Made the easiest class ever ridiculously hard to pass.
I still don't understand how people keep registering for his classes. I will NEVER sign up for one of his classes again. absolutely terribly horrible. A nice man but class is an F waiting to happen. AVOID. He can't teach and assumes you know everything. don't believe me? ask students around campus!!
Run for the hills. I took this professor 3 times (b/c i could not avoid him forever...I tried), I failed 2 of his classes and got a D in the 3rd. He is obviously brilliant but can't teach to save his life, not even from his own book. Run for the Hills if you can, but if you have to take him start crying from now.
MATH 101 isn't intended to be difficult. It becomes extremely difficult, however, when the teacher seems to understand it less than you do. Worse, he explains it like he has a Kindergartner's basic understanding of the material. This class was awful.
He is so open to anyone asking questions. The first thing he says in class every day is "Any questions?" All you have to do is open your mouth and ask if you're confused. There's a quiz every day but they're easy if you just listen to an example he gives you in class and study it. So helpful, cares a lot for his students and offers extra help.
Terrible teacher! I have gotten easy As in every math I have taken since middle school, and I am getting a D in his class. I am pretty sure it is not the material. His teaching style is all over the board and does not give adequate examples of the information to do the homework he assigns. I do not recommend him.
I kind of feel bad for him. I'm sure he's a sweet guy but HE CANNOT TEACH FOR HIS LIFE. Writes random things on board, never finishes explaining new material. He doesn't even know anyone's name. Weekly quiz is pretty easy, exams are random. Try taking someone else -though most math prof. @ Ramapo are terrible..
had him for calc 1. sometimes explains well but most of the time is really unclear. however he's always ready to help. does not use the book at all. makes a quizz every class, plus there are 2 tests and 1 final. I only got an A because I already knew the subject. would not recommend, unless you can understand fast enough.
I highly suggest not taking him if you do not pick up math easily. He expects you to self-teach, and there is a quiz everyday, which are all realatively easy. The midterm and final are major parts to your grade, don't take him if you expect an easy A. Also, bring an energy drink, this man will bore you to death.
There is a quiz everyday and you really need to pay attention in order to pass it. The quiz question is usually taken right from the module that he gives you. There is never any required homework but like I said there is a quiz every day. The midterm and final aren't too hard and the CEC is just four math questions that are relatively easy.
Honestly I don't remember what the course # and section were. Class was odds & probability. I did horribly in this class! I'm not a math minded person and just couldn't get it. He's a little scattered in his teaching and you really do need to be able to self teach and have a knack for numbers.
Always been an easy grader on rate my professor. This guy is rough though to say the least. Unclear, all over the place, and messes up his own problems. Says agree about 8 million times a class, has only one or two questions on each quiz. Really smart and nice guy, just not a teacher.
Be shure to avoid this guy if you have a hard time understanding accents, wrong examples and general dysfunction in the way the material is presented. I recommend learning everything one your own beforehand because he will be of little help to you.
Great Professor ... Older guy, knows his stuff, helpful and patient, if u don't understand something he doesn't just repeat the information but explains in a different way than before. Keep up and follow and ask questions otherwise you're lost.
Nice guy, unfortunately he isn't exactly the best teacher. He is very confusing and his class lessons are always all over the place. Decently noticeable accent which could trouble some. Expects a lot of self teaching since he gives 0 credit for doing homework, but the quizzes are directly from it. The quizzes only have 4 problems on them
Such a nice man but he can't teach at all! He never completes problems so you never know what the answer should be, it's hard to understand him when he talks because he often moves into a different subject shortly after starting another one. It's almost impossible to pass him with anything greater than a D.
I'm in his class right now and I want to cry
Nice man but he's old and forgetful. I had to teach myself out of the book for most lessons. I find myself correcting him often. Its not that hard to pass though you get a quiz everyday and if you did the hw you can handle the quizzes (questions are directly from the hw, although he doesn't grade the hw)
Dr. Viglino is literally the worst college professor I could ever imagine. He wrote the books, and they not only have typos, but some of the answers are incorrect. He does not give any curves nor any extra credit, and does not help with the final (telling you what is on it, final review, etc.). Take Viglino if you want to contemplate suicide.
Worst professor I have ever had. I advise anyone to avoid him like the plague. He rarely finishes problems and makes errors while teaching said problem. Explains it better if you go to office hours, but that's on your own time. Gives quizzes every class and if you do not attend it's a zero. I had to teach myself everything to pass.
Worst teacher in the history of mankind. AP Calculus was a breeze for me in high school. Also, I earned a 3 on the AP exam. However, after taking this class, my ability and confidence in the subject has decreased significantly because of him. Never finishes problems, always puts two impossible questions on exams, no extra credit. Avoid at all costs
This guy is way past his prime. He says "agreed" ever five seconds. He doesn't even know how to explain his own material (he wrote the book also so that doesn't help any). He explains problems with terms that are unheard of in math such as: "the squiggly line". I wouldn't recommend taking this class with him if you can avoid it. Wouldn't recommend!
Professor Viglino gets a lot of heat, but i honestly thought he was a great professor and I loved his class. I can understand why people get confused because he tends to skip steps he did in his head but if you stop him and ask him to explain or show his steps he will gladly. He encourages questions and really wants you to understand and do well.
He makes no sense, skips steps in problems and you are lucky if you even finish the examples in class. I had to stop going to the lectures because they made everything more confusing. Doesn't take attendance and 1 quiz a week, midterm and final. Only got an A because I took this in high school. DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN PRECALC BEFORE!!
viglino is a nice man but he shouldn't be a professor. he has dyslexia which makes it hard for him to go through problems without making a million mistakes. also his tests are almost impossible. DONT TAKE HIM
This man is by far the worst professor at the school. He wrote the textbook you use and there are many errors causing confusion. He does not reply to emails or help you when needed. He has a thick accent so you can't understand him. He'll give easy examples in class but then they are much harder on tests. do not take him unless you want to fail
This class was incredibly frustrating for me. He is terrible at explaining problems and makes more than a few mistakes. He also wrote the textbook you use, and it has many errors causing confusion. The grading criteria is also extremely unclear. Take someone else to save yourself from months of confusion and your GPA.
Let me start with, do not take him. He is unclear and not helpful. I felt as though I was wasting my time and money as the whole class did not perfom well on exams. He did not teach us what we needed to know and if we did not understand he did not explain. Please dont make the same mistake I did, take a different professor & save your GPA.
Honestly I loved Viglino. Although he is slightly confusing sometimes he's more than willing to give you back points on tests once you go over it with him. He's such a nice man just show up and do you're homework and you will do fine.
Professor Viglino is adorable and a very nice person but not the greatest professor. I took this class in high school so it was not terribly difficult for me, but listening to him definitely confused me more. He messes up when explaining problems so there is no point in watching him teach. Attendance is not mandatory but there is a quiz each class.
Calculus is not easy, but I found that the way he goes slowly and explains what he is doing helped me to learn. If you work along and ask questions, you will find he is a forgiving and helpful teacher. The other reviewers are probably disgruntled because Ramapo students do not work hard, because he is a good teacher of a difficult subject.
Seems like a genius, and knows a lot about the subject, but in his own head. Seems to be getting up there in years, and has trouble communicating his thoughts. He constantly messes up, and gives confusing explainations. He also wrote the textbook, so there's no outside clarification on the chapters. Will never take again
His tests are very hard and hw is confusing since he wrote the textbook which lacks clear explanations. I got help from an outside tutor with a PHD in math who said the material was overly confusing. Unless you're confident in your abilities, you should avoid him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and I regret it. Nice guy, terrible teacher
Viglino gets a bad reputation, but he really does care. The thing is, you can't just attend lecture and expect an A. Go to tutoring every week. Go to his office hours. Study!! After exams, go to his office to go over the exam & he may raise your grade. If you get an A on the final, you get an A in the class. Work hard and he will notice!!
Although Professor Viglino is a somewhat strict grader, his lectures are very educational and comprehensible. Yes, sometimes he makes mistakes, but that's just an uncontrollable/inevitable memory problem he has. Besides that, he's a great professor.
Very nice and helpful.
Very confusing, skips steps in his head which makes you even more confused. I took precalc in high school and it was cake. With him it just seems impossible unless i look at YouTube videos explaining the material to me. Plus the whole class is confused. Take a different professor if math is not your strong point.
This class was a mess and everyone was confused all semester. His problem is that he makes mistakes when explaining on the board and if we dont catch the mistake then he doesnt notice. Theres a quiz every day and hell take off 20 if you forget the negative sign. Also,he grades his exams wrong and will take points off for things that are right.
Makes dozens of mistakes during class on problems he expects u to know how to do, students will end up correcting him or he won't be able to figure it out. If u get the right answer but didn't do it his method he will take points off. Probably the worst professor I have ever taken. Only take if u can teach yourself or are naturally good at math!
He's a very nice man, but should not be teaching. Math has always been my strong suit, but he completely confused me. He made so many mistakes throughout class that I ended up changing my correct answers all too often. There are no other options for MAT101, so I would recommend going to tutoring a lot. He really is very nice, but frustrating.
Needs some major tweeking, but so nice and is willing to go over things with you during office hours after class.
The only positive part about Viglino is that his quizzes contain problems directly from the homework, but there is a quiz every single class. He is older so he makes countless mistakes while grading, so make sure you look over your tests carefully once he gives them back to you. Will mark correct answers wrong so make sure to point out his errors.
This professor is definitely not the move, quizzes every class and can mess up grading your quizzes. Avoid him if you can, but if you can't study study study
If you have any other options, do not take him. He's a lot older so he tends to forget a lot of things, like adding students to the email listing. I never once received any updates and was unable to participate during class times. Complete waste of my time. He's nice but that's not enough to warrant the forgetfulness.
Prof. Viglino was overall a really nice guy and always offered help. However, his teaching methods were beyond confusing and never fully explained how he was getting the answers to his provided examples. He offers office hours but it honestly just makes what you were asking about more confusing. If you are not the best at math go to another prof.
RUN AWAY from any of his course offerings this guy is terrible. He tries his best to help you and he is very nice but he often stumbles on his own thoughts and if you ask him for help he will make you more confused if he is your only option and you have to take any of his courses that semester (and no one else is teaching) consider off campus study
RUN AWAY from ANY of his course offerings this guy is very nice and tries his best to help you but he will make u more confused. He should really consider retiring if you have to take a viglino course section and no one else is teaching it consider an off campus study (see the center of student success for details).
I do not understand why people give Professor Viglino such a bad wrap. He is a wonderful professor who truly cares for his students. I went to his office hours every day and he helped me understand the material. He gave wonderful lectures and would explain multiple times. Go to his office hours. It's your own fault if you don't do well.
Professor Viglino is an extremely harsh grader, he doesn't curve, the only thing that counts is the final exam, The lessons are poor because he always gets lost when doing the problems he made up. I was one of 3 people who got a passing grade on the final. If you are a comp sci major looking for a math course like me, avoid viglino at all costs.
Everything was online, and with all of the videos and notes he provided, they weren't really much help. The more I watched the more I got confused. And trying to reach out to him online over emails for help... he isn't exactly tech savvy either. He is an excellent person, but I'll refrain from taking a class he offers next time.
As some said, he is caring and tries his best to help, but asking for help would confuse you more! Often he skips steps when problem-solving and assumes we comprehend his approach. His quizzes are fair but based on homework + previously-learned material. His tests are something different. He does not follow his own syllables grading system.
The worst professor I have had. He is a nice old man who appears to care, but he is horrid at instructing. There is no point to go to class because he just reads for his incoherent textbook that he wrote, and makes the material more confusing. He once spent an entire class on one easy problem. Should not be teaching at his age.
Hands down the worst professor I have had here so far. He has been teaching at the college since 1974, and he honestly just needs to retire. It is impossible to follow him in class because he constantly confuses himself, and sometimes takes the entire class going over one problem. If you have to take him be prepared to teach yourself & good luck.
worst instructor I have ever had.
Very difficult to get in contact with outside of class. Jumps steps and doesn't explain what he is trying to teach.
Drop his class. The students had to correct him more then he corrected the students, especially during class and with his grading. You truly will learn nothing with him. Only positive things about him is how fast he graded quizzes and he would always answer any questions. If he says to meet him during his office hours he will be late.
He is a cute old man but he needs to give up the ghost and retire, on the first day he got lost and was 25 mins late to class because he got lost even tho he has been here since 1971. (PART 1)
He losing things a lot and forgets how long the class is and will go over the class time and attendance is tracked by a 2 problem quizzes at the end of class and sometimes you don't have nearly enough time to do the quiz well and it does add to your grade. (PART 2)
His hand writing looks like hieroglyphics and he has an accent and it makes it hard to understand what he says. This is nothing personal towards him because he is a very sweet old man and he is super caring and the nicest prof I've had but he's just not a good prof. (PART 3)
handwriting is impossible to read, and about 80 percent of the time he'd spend a full class doing a single problem, only to go "oops I made a mistake" and redo it after we'd all spent an hour copying down this one problem. Students in my class complained to the dean who told him. He said we should just be better at math. used his own textbook too.
Very kind old man, but my goodness, he cannot teach. To put it into perspective, he is literally older than ww2 itself (born in 1936). He writes in hieroglyphs and often lose track in time and in his work. Whatever you do, do not take him
Nice guy I'm sure, but he just babbles the entire class and doesn't teach anything. He explains everything terribly and never back tracks and he made his own textbook so it just makes everything so much more confusing. he also never wore socks which isn't a teaching issue but it felt noteworthy to bring up.
100% avoid if you can at all costs. Very nice man in himself but terrible professor, messes up problems constantly and gets mad when someone points it out. Not helpful, not good at teaching, do not take overall.
Elderly man in his 80s teaches outdated math methods, causing confusion and frustration among students. Many drop out due to risk of failing despite self-study efforts. Offers partial credit but fails to improve learning outcomes. The course covers advanced topics. Health issues impair teaching ability, suggesting retirement.
Desires student success but teaches outdated, confusing methods. Numerous errors, struggles to clarify concepts, leading to high dropout rates. Attempts to aid with partial credit but ineffective. The course spans beyond basic math, making it difficult to learn. unless you are good at math and can teach urself don't take a class with this professor
Professor Viglino has a unique teaching style, but it's best to come prepared. Attending class and using resources like Unstuckstudy can help. Overall, a challenging course, but manageable if you put in the effort.
Professor Viglino is an extremely caring professor but his teaching is just a little bit confusing. Just make sure to consistently go over the assigned homework in the textbook and you should be fine. Class consists of quizzes (mostly every class) and three exams (one being the final).
Professor Viglino is really sweet however I believe his age affects the quality of his performance. He often forgets what he is doing and a lot of times will confuse things together. It is not a hard course if you are good at math, but make sure to go for tutoring and ask what you don't understand. There's a quiz of 2 questions for every class.
